Beforehand it conducted technical studies to determine the best choice of crane
The combined output of the 2.5 MW wind turbines will offer a total power rating of 150 MW
The LR 1500 can be used without a derrick system for wind turbines up to 100 metres
and with a derrick system for hub heights up to 130 metres
Avtokran-Tjumen bought its first Liebherr crane in 1999
Now the company has Liebherr cranes up to 500 tonnes capacity and works on projects from Siberia to Kazakhstan and from Belarus to the Far East
At the handover of the LR 1500 to Avtokran-Tjumen are

MSG Krandienst is expanding its fleet of large cranes with two modern machines from the Liebherr plant in Ehingen
An LTM 1300-6.3 was received a few days ago
This will be followed in February 2025 by an LTM 1650-8.1
Unedited press release: MSG Krandienst GmbH
based in the Franco-German border region near Strasbourg
is expanding its fleet of large cranes with two modern machines from the Liebherr plant in Ehingen
This will be followed in February by an LTM 1650-8.1 with extensive equipment and the two telescopic boom variants with lengths of 54 and 80 metres
The company with the distinctive blue cranes believes it is well positioned to meet the requirements of the cross-border Alsace-Baden region
MSG Managing Director Björn Jatz came to Ehingen in person for the handover of the 300-tonne mobile crane
which can be carried on the road with an axle load of 12 tonnes and is a unique feature of the crane in its class
was the decisive factor for us in purchasing it,” says Jatz
“This completes our Liebherr family in the large crane sector with the LTM 1750-9.1
the LTM 1450-8.1 and soon three machines of the LTM 1650-8.1
One major advantage,” emphasises Jatz
“is that various lattice sections from these cranes can also be used on our new LTM 1300-6.3.”
The 6-axle crane not only impresses with technical features such as VarioBase®Plus
auto-ballast or the wind speed load charts
which are valuable for working on wind turbines
but also with high efficiency on the equipment side
Its possibilities with lattice jibs are manifold: 11.5 to 20 metre double folding jib
two 7 metre lattice sections to extend the telescopic boom
a 39 metre powerful lattice type fixed jib and a 43 metre hydraulically adjustable lattice type fixed jib
This enables the 300-tonne crane to reach lifting heights of up to 120 metres
Many infrastructure projects along the Rhine
Major infrastructure projects such as the expansion of the Rhine Valley line of the German railway and increased service work on the wind turbines on the hills of the Black Forest are ensuring full order books for the 150-strong company with its sites in Freiburg
Also because the maintenance and repowering of old wind turbines always require large crane capacities
MSG will take delivery of its third LTM 1650-8.1 at the beginning of 2025
another LTM 1230-5.1 will further increase the current 55 Liebherr mobile cranes in the blue fleet
MSG Krandienst recently sent one of its two LTM 1650-8.1 cranes to replace components for an Enercon E-66 wind turbine at an altitude of 1,100 metres in the Black Forest north of Freiburg
the mobile crane was able to lift the entire blade star from the system in two-hook operation and reassemble it after replacing the generator
the 8-axle vehicle was equipped with Y-guying
a boom extension of six metres and a small auxiliary jib
Thanks to the ballasting set to maximum radius
155 tonnes of counterweights were sufficient for this operation

Liebherr-Werk Ehingen sold its 7,500th used crane
At the beginning of 2010 Liebherr-Werk Ehingen GmbH
delivered its 7,500th used crane since the production plant was established in 1969
Germany took ownership of the Liebherr LTM 1030/2 all terrain crane in January
Thirty years ago Stahlbau Lang bought a new LT 1030 all terrain from Liebherr and it is now being replaced by the 35 tonne capacity LTM 1030/2
which is suited to steel construction carried out by the company
The LT 1030 has already been sold to an operator in North Africa
According to Stahlbau Lang partner Peter Käse
so the choice was made to purchase from the manufacturer
"This means we have the security of the skill and competence of the manufacturer to rely on
It also means that we have an inspection carried out by Liebherr at the same time
and arrangements made for the issue of TÜV and UVV tech-nical approvals," said Käse
Another advantage of buying used equipment from a manufacturer like Liebherr
is the wide range of used cranes available
Liebherr operates its own repair centres at its plants in Ehingen
it sells hundreds of used cranes every year

“This crane meets our need to update our crane fleet in full,” said Sebastián Alejo Fernández
the three-axle crane is said to be ideal for use on constricted sites such as those found in steelworks
At the same time the 50 tonne machine is also designed for use as a taxi crane which means that it can be driven on public roads with a 12 tonne axle load carrying all its equipment so that it is immediately ready for use when it reaches the site
Sebastián Alejo Fernández said the safety aspect was very important to the company
“We ordered our LTC 1050-3.1 with the lift cabin which gives the crane driver an excellent view of the site situation.”
The VarioBase system enables each individual crane support to be extended to any length while the crane work is secured by the load moment limiter included in the crane controller
VarioBase also delivers higher load capacities and a larger working area
Grúas Moviles Mix also took delivery of a used LTM 1130-5.1 mobile crane
“We already have an LTM 1070/1 and an LTM 1100/1 from Liebherr in our fleet
The experience we have with both machines has been more than satisfactory
“Our employees are extremely satisfied with the user-friendly and comfortable handling of Liebherr mobile cranes
That is why we decided to buy two more mobile cranes from Liebherr.”

Liebherr's new flagship heavy lift crawler crane is taking shape at the Ehingen factory in Germany
The first unit of the 3,000 tonne capacity lattice boom crawler crane is being assembled
Formerly carrying a working title as the XXL crawler
the conventional design crane will lift its maximum load out to a radius of 12 m
Target applications include power stations
Refinery vessels are another application where columns are up to 1,500 tonnes and 100 m tall
XXL is an appropriate title when you consider that
the crawlers stand more than 3.5 m tall and weigh more than 200 tonnes each
achieved with 120 m main boom plus 126 m luffing jib
The manufacturer says it is the only crawler crane in its class that can work without derrick ballast
Key to this is the slew ring that is produced in-house
a suspended ballast system like that on the LR 11350 can be adjusted over the derrick boom without a guide from 20 to 30 m ballast radius
Also available is a ballast trailer system where the standard suspended ballast arrangement is combined with SPMT type heavy lift modular trailer
For transport maximum component weight is 70 tonnes
with 400 tonnes of superstructure ballast and 1,500 tonnes of derrick ballast
Most components are within 3.6 m tall and 4 m wide
The crawler frames are more than 3.5 m tall
The remaining 128 tonne frame is divided in half and moved by low loader
The 4.5 m diameter slewing ring is tilted up diagonally to remain within 4 m width for transport
For easier transport the concrete ballast blocks are the same dimensions as 20 foot containers

South Korean contractor Hanchang Heavy Equipment Cohas has taken delivery of a Liebherr LR 11000 crawler crane
The 1,000-tonne lattice boom crane will supplement Hanchang's existing fleet of crawler cranes between the Liebherr LR 1750 and LR 11350 machines
Hanchang now has a fleet of 14 Liebherr crawler cranes
The LR 11000 has filled the gap between a 750 t and a 1,350 t machine
Demand for the LR 11000 takes the form of current and future projects for lattice boom cranes in the 1000-tonne class in Korea
The first job for the new machine will be in the petrochemical industry
said: “The LR 11000 from Liebherr is the most modern crane in its class
it is the best choice for jobs at restricted sites because
The LR 11000 was ordered with a full range of equipment: 108 metre main boom
dense service network was one of the main reasons behind Hanchang's purchase
Kim added: “We can use our cranes all over the world because Liebherr is everywhere for us
the value of its used cranes is higher than that of its competitors.”
Hanchang operates 35 cranes with a workforce of around 50

The Liebherr Group is aiding the investigation of the fatal crane collapse at Makkah’s Grand Mosque
which involved a Liebherr machine on a Saudi Binladin Group (SBG) site
and resulted in the death of 107 worshippers and the injury of nearly 400 people in total
The Swiss-German equipment giant has responded swiftly to the crisis
and both “local Liebherr experts as well as experts from [its] manufacturing plant in Ehingen are assisting on site.”
told PMV Middle East: “The crane that collapsed is a lattice boom crawler crane type LR 11350
Liebherr will do everything in its power to help bring the accident investigation to a speedy and logical conclusion
“Liebherr is extremely saddened by this tragic accident and the fatalities and injuries
and expresses its deep sympathy to the families of the victims
We hope that all persons injured will recover quickly.”
SBG executives have meanwhile been prohibited from leaving the country by the Kingdom’s Royal Court
pending a full investigation of the tragic incident
At present, the collapse is thought to have been caused by strong winds and storms
though the immediate disciplinary action against SBG suggests that the possibility of human or operational error could be under consideration

the Liebherr Group generated over $9.6bn in 2015 — a 4.7% increase on the year before and a record for the company
The group also reinvested over $780m into its production
Part of the reason for the strength of this reinvestment is that the Liebherr Group aspires to actively shape its industries and because strength in innovation has always contributed to Liebherr’s success
A second factor contributing to Liebherr’s success has been the attention it has paid to the industry and its requirements
explains: “In our industry of mobile cranes
we still see a sideward movement of the global economy
The main drivers are mostly energy-related projects
petro chemistry and infrastructure projects
Liebherr then asked itself what could be done to widen its footprint in the industry from a product perspective in order to build on the success of its LTM telescopic mobile cranes and LR lattice-booms
Kleiner explains: “During the last two decades we have constantly developed new all-terrain models to meet market needs and ended up today with an unrivalled range of cranes in this segment
with 22 different models ranging from 30t to 1,200t and from two to nine axles
The same could be said of our crawler crane range from 350t to 3,000t
Today our complete product range consists of 38 different crane types in multiple configurations
By focusing on mainly these two crane kinds LTM and LR we became world market leader in both segments.”
we decided to focus on LTM and LR cranes and to discontinue rough-terrain crane production — after 20 years after roughly 430 units had been made in the range of 25t to 80t.”
Liebherr began to discuss the possibility of making rough-terrain cranes once more with its customers
What came out of those discussions was the idea that if Liebherr could make a competitively priced crane with proven boom systems
surveys and deliberations is that Liebherr is returning as a rough-terrain crane provider
MD for development at Liebherr-Werk Ehingen
LRT shall stand for Liebherr rough-terrain
“The technology and technological basis of the LRT cranes has been derived from Liebherr’s vast pool of mobile crane experience
but specifically tailored to the needs and requirements for rough-terrain cranes
At CONEXPO 2017 we shall present two rough-terrain crane types
Both types are based on the same fundamental technical concept.”
While the vehicle and turntable design of these two cranes are structurally almost identical
The 90-tonne version has a 47m-long telescopic boom and a telescope system consists of a two-stage hydraulic cylinder with a mechanical rope extension and 12t of counterweight
The 100-tonne version has a 50m-long telescopic boom with a simple Telematik telescope system
A 14t counterweight provides high stability and 15% more lifting capacity than in the 90-tonne crane
boom extension can be preselected based on two different telescope paths on the main boom
Dr Hamme continues: “These two crane types should meet all requirements for rough-terrain cranes in their class; from off-road pick and carry to flexible operations in large industrial plants
was a focus in development of the new LRTs.”
both machines are equipped with sliding beam monitoring
systems that automatically detect and set the support state
and detect counterweight attachment – and as the entire counterweight consists of a single slab
the chances of an incorrect ballast arrangement are virtually impossible
The load chart selection is also simplified
while the telescoping functions in a simple and intuitive manner
provides constant safety in these cranes both when working with a load and during crane set up
Dr Hamme adds: “The load chart tables are supplemented with the VarioBase support-dependent load capacities developed for the LTM cranes
This improves the crane’s lifting capacity and protection against overturning.”
VarioBase allows each individual outrigger beam to be extended to arbitrary lengths
The load moment is then limited by LICCON to prevent accidents by human error during the assembly process and when hoisting loads
VarioBase also increases the lifting capacities when hoisting over the supports — allowing the cranes to hoist loads that would normally be reserved for a larger weight class
secondary hoist gear and the boom nose are integrated into the base unit
and a tiltable double-folding jib can be installed to the telescopic boom
Both crane types are powered by Cummins diesel engines
with Tier III versions in the pipeline for the Middle East — which is one of the regions where Kleiner expects the LRT range to present the most opportunity
A six-gear Dana powershift transmission and large surface 29.5 R25 tyres ensure the off-road driving capability
with different steering programmes — including all-wheel and crab steering — for easy handling and manoeuvrability in all conditions
The curb weight for both machines is below 40t
XFASTINDEX
The new cranes range in lifting capacities from 60 tonnes to 1,000 tonnes
In addition an LR 1600/2 and an LR 1500 as well as two LTR 1100 telescopic boom cranes have also arrived from the Ehingen factory
Six LTR 1060 telescopic crawler cranes will follow in February
Weldex was founded by the McGilvray family in Inverness in 1979 and became the UK's biggest crawler crane fleet operator
Private equity firm Dunedin Capital Partners took majority ownership in 2010 for £55m

Home » Products and Services » The Big Interview: Liebherr’s Christoph Kleiner
Liebherr is a world leader in sales of all-terrain mobile cranes
accounting for 44% of all global sales in the segment
PMV Middle East editor Stian Overdahl speaks with Christoph Kleiner
managing director of Liebherr-Werk Ehingen GmbH
At its sprawling production headquarters in Ehingen
Liebherr Mobile Crane Division’s has production facilities covering 220,000m²
account for 75% of the total sales turn over for Liebherr-Werk Ehingen GmbH
account for 44% of the all-terrain cranes sold globally
Also designed and built at Ehingen are Liebherr’s lattice boom crawler cranes from 350 tonnes up to the massive 3000 tonne LR 13000
Christoph Kleiner is the managing director of Liebherr-Werk Ehingen GmbH
but he may be more familiar to those in the Middle East from his role as head of Saudi Liebherr
before he was appointed to the top job at Ehingen
Kleiner says he enjoyed experiencing the transition into a growth economy
[Saudi Arabia] became politically much more stable
during that time the new king was announced
Liebherr has seen its mobile crane sales in the Middle East grow
we are quite successful within Middle East overall
but especially [where] we have two Liebherr-owned set-ups,” says Kleiner
With its two Liebherr-owned ventures in the Middle East – Saudi Liebherr
a joint venture between the Juffali Group and the Liebherr Group
established in Dubai in 2005 inside the Jebel Ali Free Zone – Liebherr is able to deliver the “total package”
our product is very much appreciated not because of the product itself
“This package is what has made us very successful
and we have a high market share in all of the Middle East
servicing all of the big players,” says Kleiner
As is the case for many mobile crane manufacturers
the importance of the Middle East is growing for Liebherr
In a presentation given at bauma China in Shanghai in November
Kleiner said that slowing demand in Europe has resulted in “a rather fundamental shift in the significance of the individual markets and sales regions.”
the high market saturation in the mobile crane sector and the economic troubles of the countries of southern Europe in particular had a dampening effect on demand
no increases in sales are to be anticipated in this region in the foreseeable future,” he said
more than 60% of its turnover for mobile cranes was being achieved in Western Europe
business for Liebherr in BRIC countries and in emerging markets has risen steadily
But the impact of slower sales in Europe is being felt in the Middle East
by smaller companies and rental houses who operate with Liebherr cranes in their fleets bought second hand from dealers in Europe
Low levels of new crane sales means less fleet turnover in Europe
and therefore higher prices for used cranes they may want to buy
“The nature of the business is to trade in cranes when selling new ones; stimulate a new crane sale by trading in a used one
“This is reducing the availability of used cranes for the rest of the world
There are hardly any three-four year-old cranes in the market
Nevertheless there may be a silver lining for manufacturers
since high residual values will help fleet owners when they choose to upgrade
“It’s kind of a strange situation – this kind of situation we haven’t had in the past to that extent
Liebherr produces a full range of crawler cranes
However when large tonnage class cranes are considered
not many local operators have giant crawlers in their fleets
“For crawler cranes in the Middle East you see a lot of contractors operating globally coming in
or Koreans are coming in for big steel construction projects
Saudi- or Dubai-based rental companies with the expertise and experience for large crawler cranes
but the majority are coming through internationally renowned companies.”
Liebherr sees local demand for its LTR range – a crane with telescoping boom on crawler travel gear – for work on oil and gas and industrial work sites
especially in the 60 and 100 tonne classes
“This is a perfect pick and carry crane – the 100 tonner is the strongest in its class – and it’s perfect for these so-called ‘small’ pick and carry jobs for the drilling rigs.”
“It’s perfect even for a refinery application
where you have the boom down in the evening
but still you want to have the manoeuvrability and flexibility of a crawler crane
The lattice boom crawler cranes are less mobile.”
Reflecting on Liebherr’s presence in the GCC
Kleiner says that its commitment is both appreciated and respected
and of course to provide up-time of the machine
“Even before Liebherr Dubai we had our very successful dealer keeping relationships and long-term partnerships
and from there we continued our own operation.”
We will continue to deepen this strategy by expanding into different areas
where our head office for mobile cranes is
and all these other places where the music for our cranes play.”
While the market for cranes in the smaller lifting classes
rough terrain cranes up to the 70—80 tonne class
when the tonnage increases Liebherr stands out in the ATC segment
Liebherr have sold a number of their 500 tonne all terrain cranes
which globally is the most successful telescopic crane of its class
in 2008 Liebherr delivered its 200th model; now the worldwide population has surpassed 350 units
at its customer days in June last year at Ehingen
the crane with complete telescopic boom is able to travel on public roads
The crane is designed for the heavy lifts that take place on industrial and petrochemical jobsites
without having the height required for installation of wind turbines
Recently major Liebherr customer Al Faris announced the purchase of two LTM 1750-9.1’s
one for each of its depots in Dubai and in Jubail
the LTM 11900-9.1 is also operating in Saudi Arabia
The crane has a maximum 1200 tonne lift capacity at 2.5 metres radius
In 2010 the first model was bought to Saudi Arabia by Arabian Consolidated Trading (ACT)
to be used in the construction and maintenance of oil and gas refineries and in the heavy haulage sector
Home » Products and Services » Liebherr develops armoured crane for German Army
Liebherr-Werk Ehingen has developed an armoured rescue crane for the German Army
The Liebherr G-BKF, a four-axle mobile unit, has been designed to rescue and tow the latest generation of armoured control and command vehicles, armoured transport vehicles, MULTI FSA (swap body vehicles), and wheeled vehicles.
The crane will also be used by army personnel to provide repair and handling support and to deploy emergency aid.
In addition to guarding its passengers, the G-BKF’s armoured shell is capable of providing tactical infantry cover over long distances.
The main focus when the order was placed, according to Liebherr, was on the protection of those inside. To this end, Liebherr-Werk Ehingen worked with military technology specialist, Rheinmetall Defence, to produce the armoured driver’s cab and crane cab.
The driver’s cab was extended by 250mm compared to Liebherr’s conventional version in order to provide storage space for the personal protective equipment of the crew, and to allow for the integration of military communication devices. The cab is constructed from a double-thickness steel bulkhead, and its transparent armour has been enhanced to ensure that it offers ballistic protection and meets the visibility requirements set out in Germany’s Road Traffic Act.
The G-BKF is mounted on a four-axle 8x8x8 chassis, which is similar to the standard version. The crane’s all-wheeled steering arrangement and large tyres facilitate off-road manoeuvrability, according to Liebherr.
The unit sports a 544hp Liebherr D946TI diesel engine and a ZF TC-Tronic gearbox that offers 12 forward gears and two for reverse.
In towing mode, the G-BKF can handle loads of up to 16 tonnes. Military vehicles can be attached to the crane’s STANAG eyelets using special adaptors, and an extensive range of accessories means that almost all German Army wheeled vehicles are compatible.
The unit’s 20.9m telescopic boom, meanwhile, can handle loads of up to 20 tonnes, meaning that the model is suitable for medium-duty crane work as well as rescue applications.

The American professional came back to the Village when he replaced Jordan Campbell
who had to return to the States after picking up a nasty ankle injury
This weekend Nation will be trying to help his club lift the Pat Duffy National Cup for the first time in their history when they lock horns with UCC Demons at the National Basketball Arena
He shone with the Ballincollig club for a number of years
winning two President's Cups among other titles in a four-year stint
before his good friend Colin Murray put him in contact with Merlin Stamm
the manager of Team Ehingen Urspring in the German ProB League
Basketball player Andre Nation in action for Team Ehingen Urspring when he played in the German ProB League. He played there for a season averaging just over 20 points and nine rebounds a game
early in his second campaign with the German outfit
He had surgery to repair his tendon in Germany and then headed back Stateside to rehabilitate
as it was a different style of basketball I was used to," Andre said
“They played at a faster pace which I think suited me a lot
the majority of my team got paid to play and we practiced a lot more throughout the week
"Sometimes we had two practices a day plus weights so it was a lot different than practicing three times a week in Ireland
"Then disaster struck as I got injured on the February 4 of last year in my second season with the club
so I was put in a boot for about a month and a half
"Luckily I had a great S&C coach Michele Romano with me through all the steps
He did a fantastic job with my rehab making sure I had what I needed
"I’m forever grateful to him and Team Ehingen for sticking with me through the recovery
"I got my stitches out two weeks after surgery and after that
we started strengthening and stretching the tendon part
"I flew home in April so I could continue my rehab and by late May I was jogging slowly
When June came around I was running and jumping and then from there it was all about strengthening the hamstrings
"I then started volunteering with my friend Aaron Hunter who coaches at a high school in Virginia where I live and I was able to practicing and go lifting weights with the team to continue my recovery."
With Nation close to returning to action he had some offers from different clubs overseas
Yet when Ciaran O’Sullivan made the call two months ago he didn’t need much time to make his decision to return to the Village
as the club were getting a player who they knew well
gone on well with everyone in the community

he was with a club that was close to his heart as it was where he made his professional journey
He is very comfortable with everyone at Ballincollig and he gets a chance to play with the players that he made great friendships with as well as another gifted American in Shawndale Jones Junior
I haven’t had any hiccups with the actual injury and I’m getting sharper with every game I play
I think the league is better than when I previously played here by adding another American
"Some teams have five or six pros on their roster
so you know so it definitely makes it a tougher league to play in
“Going forward I definitely want to win the National Cup at the weekend and then try help my team to regain their league title
"As for after this season I just want to be able to keep playing basketball and travel to different countries
"It’s good for people to see it’s possible
as Jonathon Jean who plays with UCD Marian is where I live and we might be the only two people still playing basketball from the city
"I enjoy being able to see him hoop and enjoy life the best way I can."
