There are some moments when I just can’t make a decision. This is one of them. I don’t know what’s more impressive: the enchantingly airy, lovely kids store on Bellalliancestr., the adorable moccasins I bought there, or the so genuinely charming owner of the store with the fitting name, "Unique Love."
Here, everything is one-of-a-kind and designed and produced with plenty of love for the little ones: endearing knit boots, casual bloomers, handkerchiefs, pacifier bands, and even cups, pillows, and prints. All conceptualised by designer and mother-of-two, Antje Arik.
The production is a family business. The mother-in-law and aunt knit, the sister sews, and the husband keeps himself free to help here and there. What began with handmade gifts for friends is now a dream come true for Antje Arik.
In her store in Eimsbüttel, she sells her own products exclusively, without kitsch and useless junk. Stylish and modern. I loved the moccasins most. Together with an orthopaedic shoe designer, Antje Arik developed and produced the cute booties with the finest handiwork and 100% organic leather.
they’re available in 11 colours and up to size 25
My little guy will be the star of his toddler group and I have a really good feeling knowing how much he loves being on his feet
At least one decision was made today: this wasn’t my last visit to Unique Love
and I can’t wait to give my dearest friends gifts from such a tasteful store for their own kids

The way the sunlight falls through the high windows here is magical. And how it then catches in the crystals of the two lavish chandeliers. They are certainly the first thing that catches your eye - but there is also the large green porcelain cactus. And anyway, Instinct Coffee in the University Quarter is not stingy with its external charms.
The eclectic interior of industrial meets bohemia meets mid-century certainly knows how to fascinate us. But it can also impress with other values. Brunch all day long, for example.
Here in Rentzelstraße, Hanna and Derya have created a gem of a cosy retreat. Of course, this includes delicious coffee specialities from experienced baristas, an appetising menu that offers savoury breakfast specialities and sandwiches, and delicious baked goods from the display case.
We are confident that the "Instinct Special", a combination of espresso and coconut water that seems unconventional at first glance, must have been created after a long night and is guaranteed to help you overcome any initial teething troubles. The same applies to fresh juices such as "Basic B*" with apple, celery, ginger, lemon and mint.
Lovers of filter coffee will be just as happy here, however, as a Moccamaster brews the Elbgold Speciality Coffee in a tasty way and gives this method of preparation, which was ridiculed by Third Wave Coffee enthusiasts, a welcome comeback. And so, once again, you sit back on the bench right by the window and look out at the cloud formation - isn't that a bit of blue sky just appearing?

Café Ujote is located in Hamburg's Generalsviertel district, more precisely at Bismarckstraße 88. If you are looking for excellent, rich coffee, you should stop here. At the coffee machine in the Ujote, we meet Uje, for whom making coffee is a passion and a science.
Originally from Friesland, Uje studied history, politics and philosophy in Berlin, worked as a historian at the German Historical Museum and had a part-time job as a barista at Passenger Coffee in Berlin Kreuzberg. There he learned everything about espresso, its roasting and preparation from Garth and Jan, the makers of Passenger Coffee.
Consequently, the Greenbean Blend espresso that Uje sends through the grinder and portafilter machine at Ujote comes, of course, from Passenger Coffee's Berlin roastery. The Passenger Espresso is characterised by its particularly mild and chocolaty-nutty aroma. Garth and Jan make a classic, straightforward espresso with roasts, which contain only Arabica beans, and are considered one of the best in Berlin.
Some days of the week you can also meet Henny in the café. Henny, who thought up Ujote together with Uje, found it, renovated it, restored the furniture, furnished it and opened it in April 2021, and is responsible, among other things, for the delicious cakes that are sold in the shop. She works as a high school teacher and is practically in her second job to keep the espresso bar running.
Before we end, in addition to the distinctly French-tasting croissants and the beautiful flower arrangements, we would like to praise the tasteful and appropriate music selection that comes to one's ears at Ujote. Relaxed hip hop, downbeat, electro, in short: everything that goes with a good cup of espresso and a stimulating, casual conversation in the Ujote.
