The NAR movement not only helped fuel the Jan but it also inspires much of the rhetoric around President Donald Trump as a messianic figure and pushes a theology of fighting spiritual battles Feucht, the musical Forrest Gump of Christian Nationalism, pops up all over the place. He rose to prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic by holding mass “worship” rallies to violate public health rules against public gatherings. That effort helped his “ministry” organization skyrocket, gaining millions in contributions People hold signs during the march to counter Sean Feucht in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Feb. 8, 2025. Feucht asked in a video posted on social media yesterday.  "I can't over emphasize how amazing this opportunity is," he continued We're going to go through all of the devastated areas and ask God how we can rebuild this to serve the people of L.A Feucht gushed that "this amazing Cabinet that President Trump has put into place" wants "to support local ministries and local pastors and they want our advice and perspective on how the government can help rebuild." "Look at what God is doing," Feucht marveled "The church has a seat at the table to give divine perspective." Josh Hawley joined a pre-election Christian nationalist gathering on the National Mall; Donald Trump thanked its organizers.  Feucht’s rally came just two weeks after his mentor, New Apostolic Reformation dominionist Lou Engle, brought tens of thousands to the Mall for a spiritual warfare rally that featured NAR leader Che Ahn making an “apostolic decree” that Trump would win this year’s presidential election—a decree Ahn repeated this week on Elijah Streams where he said Trump would “win and bring reformation” to the “government mountain.” Feucht mocked journalists for thinking that his gatherings were MAGA political rallies claiming that they were really all about Jesus the “One Nation Under God” event featured a mix of high-energy worship and right-wing politics following the model of other “Let Us Worship” events he began in protest of COVID-19-era restrictions on public gatherings often with the participation of MAGA Republican officials Feucht led repetitive singing of phrases such as “the government is resting on his shoulders,” and he declared that “every knee shall bow that Jesus is Lord over the United States of America.” Feucht introduced Hawley as one of the people working in the U.S Capitol who have “an assignment like Daniel.” Hawley joined Feucht on stage shortly after the sun set behind the Washington Monument “Isn’t it great to be in our nation’s capital and to proclaim that Jesus is Lord was “the truth of the Bible on which this nation was founded.” What America needs more than anything else For New Apostolic Reformation dominionists like Feucht spiritual revival is seen as a precursor to political “reformation”—the transformation of nations to bring laws and culture in alignment with dominionists’ “biblical worldview.” “They’re telling us not to speak the name of Jesus in public,” Hawley shouted “They’re telling us not to speak the name of Jesus in politics They’re telling us not to speak the name of Jesus in our schools….We will not surrender the inheritance of this nation We will stand on the foundations on which this nation was built And we will rebuild the spiritual foundations of America!” Noting that Feucht’s gathering was taking place “ten days before a critical election,” Hawley asked “Can we covenant together now that we will rebuild this nation on the truth of Jesus Christ?” “That is a powerful word from a man in power,” Feucht gushed “I’ve got my own dream for what I’m hoping he does one day.” Hawley and others had made it possible for Feucht and friends to worship in a Senate building where they declared that that God would flip the Senate to Republican control “They’re gonna stand against the evils of abortion and Josh is helping lead that way,” Feucht said “I pray for spontaneous outbreaks of prayer and worship happening in Senator Hawley’s office I pray God that people walking the halls of the Hart Senate building and other places that are filled with hopelessness that they would be drawn into his office," Feucht prayed.  “Raise up a million more like him."  Other speakers explicitly mentioned the upcoming election Pastor Russell Johnson told the crowd they were on “the precipice of what will be the most hotly contested election of our lifetimes.” He said God would respond to their worship and prayer and “partner with their obedience for the writing of the history of nations.” More from Johnson: it’s a theocracy...And let me remind you that one believer who stands with God is in the majority I am still foolish enough to believe that when men and women add their faith together for prayer that there is a God in Heaven who responds to the agreement of his people on Earth And we are taking a stand on the National Mall and believe that God would intervene in the affairs of the nation of America and in doing so turn a nation back to its righteous roots And we’re here to declare tonight that from my house to the White House to the crack house Another speaker called for God to raise up spiritual warriors from Gen Z who would “take our stand as your ekklesia,” a term used by dominionists to refer to the church as God’s governing body on Earth He prayed that “from this gathering they would be shot forth as arrows of deliverance in this nation…They will not tolerate Jezebel A preacher who oversaw the taking of communion called on people in the audience to declare out loud that Jesus is “the highest authority” over their states and cities After his “One Nation Under God” rally, Feucht traveled south to Georgia, where he joined other Trump-supporting religious-right leaders for an event at which Jentezen Franklin told Trump he was God’s “chosen vessel” like the Apostle Paul #inregister Ceremony & Reception: Home of Robert & Faye Feucht Evangelical preacher and self-described Christian Nationalist Sean Feucht has made good on his promise to sue the city of Spokane and members of the Spokane City Council over their vote last year to denounce then-Mayor Nadine Woodward for appearing on stage with Feucht and religious extremist Matt Shea former Council President Lori Kinnear and former Councilwoman Karen Stratton Feucht is being represented by Pasco Mayor Pete Serrano serving as general counsel to the Silent Majority Foundation Feucht is also represented in the suit by Marshall Casey who ran unsuccessfully in 2020 for a position on the Washington Court of Appeals with the endorsement of Shea he claims the City Council violated his constitutional right to religious expression and freedom of speech which he said were discouraged by the denouncement of Woodward for attending an event with “known anti-LGBTQ extremist Though the damages Feucht is seeking were not made explicit in the suit filed Wednesday and published online Friday the pastor announced at a recent worship event at Shea’s church The suit also calls for the court to void last year’s resolution denouncing Woodward As smoke from fires in Medical Lake and Elk shrouded Spokane last August, Woodward joined Shea on stage at the Podium during a stop on the Kingdom to the Capitol tour a religious and political series organized by Feucht and his organization Let Us Worship Shortly before introducing Woodward to the stage Shea compared same-sex marriage and transgender rights to the fires that had devastated the nearby communities Woodward publicly denounced Shea soon after calling him a threat to democracy and distancing herself from his political views She maintained that she had not known that Shea would be present at the event and believed its purpose was to pray for the victims of the Oregon Road and Gray fires disputing Woodward’s characterization of the events “This is an annual event planned months ago to worship Jesus,” Shea wrote “It wasn’t for ‘fire victims.’ She was invited and she accepted BEFORE the fires started.” the Spokane City Council voted 4-3 to formally denounce Woodward’s attendance Jonathan Bingle and then-Councilman Ryan Oelrich voting in opposition who co-sponsored the resolution with Councilwoman Betsy Wilkerson argued at the time that they were not condemning anyone’s religious practices but the extremism he said Shea embodied and the threat he believes that such extremism poses Zappone was the first openly gay candidate elected to the Spokane City Council saying some beliefs about LGBTQ+ issues were sincerely member of the Liberty Caucus which backed what it called a “Freedom Agenda” that included calls for the federal government to turn over land to the states He also repeatedly sponsored bills to split Washington state in two at the crest of the Cascades forming a separate state called Liberty in the eastern half a former ally leaked emails in which Shea seemed to be calling for a holy war that would pit conservative Christian “patriots” against Muslims and Marxist “terrorists.” Shea insisted that the document titled “Biblical Basis for War” was actually just notes for a scholarly sermon on war in the Old Testament a firm of private investigators hired by House leaders authored a report that largely corroborated previous news stories about Shea’s involvement in the far-right “patriot” movement his preoccupation with military-style prepping and reconnaissance his belief in an impending civil war and government collapse his conspiracy theories about Muslims and liberals and his dream of achieving a Christian theocracy It also concluded Shea had been involved in standoffs with federal agents in Nevada and determined that he had sought to intimidate political opponents and condoned acts of violence by his supporters calling it a “sham investigation” and comparing it to investigations surrounding then-President Donald Trump House Republican Caucus leaders decided to remove Shea from their caucus meaning he could not join meetings of the GOP lawmakers or use caucus staff and House Republicans balked at an effort by Democrats to expel him from the Legislature he announced he out on the streets of Washington D.C last weekend as thousands of Christians gathered on the National Mall to take part in the "One Nation Under God Revival" event hosted by worship leader Sean Feucht "Thousands of believers descended on Washington, D.C. with a hunger for revival and a boldness to proclaim the Gospel!!  One thing is clear, America's only hope for a prosperous future is a spiritual revival, and the groundwork is being laid for a massive move of God," reads the website "THERE IS HOPE for America," Feucht wrote on X and the truth that flooded DC this weekend Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) shared during the event that "The time to SAVE AMERICA is now."  The gathering was a culmination of Feucht's "Kingdom to the Capitol" tour where the Christian artist declared God's Kingdom at came in You dealt with often very hostile government officials with so much grace and love."  "You prayed over the masses who ran to the altar and prophesied the LIFE and HOPE of Jesus over them," the "Let Us Worship" founder added "The destinies of millions of souls are forever changed because of you." Feucht told CBN News he launched the "Kingdom to the Capitol" tour in 2023 after hosting a "Let Us Worship" gathering on the National Mall "It's really easy for us to blame the government It's a whole lot more difficult to take responsibility and say 'this is our nation'," Feucht told CBN News "We were born here for such a time as this We have the power to worship and pray until things change...I think there has to be a little bit of grit and tenacity that rises up in believers "We have the keys to the kingdom," he said and whatever we bind in heaven will be bound on earth "We need to get believers activated to take responsibility for their nation for their state...and we all get in the game We are going to see God do some really cool stuff," the songwriter added ***Please sign up for CBN Newsletters and download the CBN News app to ensure you keep receiving the latest news from a distinctly Christian perspective.***  You are signing up to receive general newsletters from CBN. College’s president is defending the college’s choice to host Christian-nationalist politician and singer Sean Feucht on Tuesday and accusing those opposing Feucht’s appearance of “driving the spread proven nationally and internationally known evangelist” and wrote that “the claims of hate misogyny and racism are completely unfounded.” Musician and Christian nationalist political activist Sean Feucht, who is affiliated with the dominionist New Apostolic Reformation will bring his trademark mixture of worship and hard-right politics to the National Mall on Saturday In a “prayer zoom” livestream Wednesday night Feucht said Saturday’s gathering will be a chance to “do damage to the kingdom of darkness “I feel like this is a strategic assignment,” he said “I feel like God is sending us on assignment…This is a governmental assignment…I feel like God is sending us in as the Navy Seals of intercessors…There comes an hour in battle when you need the Navy Seal intercessors.”  One of Feucht’s colleagues called the event an opportunity for the “ekklesia”—a term dominionists use to signify the church as a governing body on Earth—to “declare the majesty and the dominion of your kingdom over the governments of men.” Feucht said the weekend would kick off with a few hundred people gathering inside the U.S followed by a “Jesus March” from the Lincoln Memorial to the White House at noon on Saturday and the main event at 4 p.m “This will be the last major faith worship event on the National Mall just days before the election and we are so excited to see how God is going to use it to turn the tide in America,” Feucht told Trinity Broadcasting Network’s Eric Stakelbeck Feucht considers anti-abortion and anti-LGBTQ activist Lou Engle “There is a mob spirit that wants us to bow down to the gods of secular liberalism … and if we don’t bow We’re going to banished from speaking in the public square.” a state senator whose failed 2022 campaign for governor of Pennsylvania was backed by NAR figures.  Like other NAR leaders, Feucht has invoked violent biblical stories in urging conservative Christians to “rise up.” In August, he compared Harris to the wicked biblical queen Jezebel and called on his supporters to be “real wild Jehus.” In the Bible Jehu was sent to kill Jezebel and her family Describing a recent dream as a warning about the coming persecution of Christians It's a season to rise up with truth and righteousness and justice It's time to dethrone the works of Jezebel It's time to restore righteousness to our nation and it's time to see a harvest of souls come to Jesus and we can only do that if we expose the works of darkness Last year, Feucht was given a “defender of liberty” award by Spokane pastor Matt Shea a former Washington state legislator who was stripped of his committee assignments and kicked out of the party after a report documented that he had “participated in an act of domestic terrorism” and “planned engaged in and promoted a total of three armed conflicts of political violence against the United States Government in three states outside the state of Washington over a three-year period.” Later Feucht returned to Spokane for an event at which he and Shea prayed over the city’s mayor and other local politicians.  This summer, Feucht sued the city of Spokane claiming that a city council resolution denouncing the former mayor’s appearance with Feucht and Shea caused Feucht “emotional distress.” Preacher and Christian singer Sean Feucht is spreading a message across the country aligning Christians with Trump This is not who we are, and she cannot be allowed to represent New Orleans or the people she willfully endangered.” But now, five years later, Daigle is feeling liberated as she prepares to perform on one of the world’s biggest stages in her home state. Appearing on Fox News contributor Raymond Arroyo’s podcast, “Arroyo Grande,” Daigle said she is feeling vindicated from the way she was treated by Cantrell. Listen to the latest episode of “Quick Start” 👇 “To get this moment years later, I would say for anybody watching that has had their reputations smeared in any sort of way and they are just waiting for the moment of vindication, sometimes it only takes five years,” she told Arroyo. It should be noted Daigle’s participation in Feucht’s “Let Us Worship” event, a protest of COVID-19 restrictions, was unplanned. She recalled riding her bike when she saw Feucht, a personal friend, and decided to stop by the worship event. At that point, Feucht asked her to sing. In her statement at the time, Daigle said she was “disappointed that my spontaneous participation has become part of the political discourse, and I’m saddened by the divisive agendas of these times.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Raymond Arroyo (@realraymondarroyo) The Christian entertainer also noted she was never formally invited to participate in the New Year’s broadcast but said she would have been “honored” had the invitation ever materialized and I got in my parents’ bed and I pulled the covers over my head as an adult here we are again.’ Because now there’s no amount of public ridicule that is fun.” “What I learned is that when people need an element of hope coming together is one of the most beautiful things,” she continued “It is one of the most incredible rights that we have in this country And I think to take that away from people is so disheartening Daigle also talked to Arroyo about using the song as a way to minister to and share God with people “How can I use this song?” she asked rhetorically “[T]he line — and I’m not trying to sound cliché at all because I know Christian,’ whatever — [w]hen it says ’God shed His grace on me,’ that line it just really gripped me to the core in a way.” “I’ve sang songs over talking about God right?” the singer-songwriter continued “But when you see a song that is meant for something else and it still includes the power of God in it … it’s meant to honor our nation and show the beauty of our nation But they also know God has done something for this nation To be able to sing that song with a true conviction versus just I’m just going to jump up on stage and have this opportunity.'” ***As the number of voices facing big-tech censorship continues to grow, please sign up for Faithwire’s daily newsletter and download the CBN News app to stay up-to-date with the latest news from a distinctly Christian perspective.*** School Reportedly Bans Student From Performing Christian Songs at Talent Show — Then Reverses Course EPIC Trailer: Latest Season of ‘The Chosen’ Gets Release Date on Prime Video ‘God’s Prophetic Time Clock’: Michele Bachmann on Israel Actor Dean Cain Set to Release New Film About Redemption: ‘Heart ‘Avengers’ Star Says He Briefly Died After Snowplow Accident: ‘Exhilarating Peace’ Sign up to get our newsletter your inbox every day Do you want to read more articles like this both Feucht and Driscoll asserted that Vice President Kamala Harris' success in the presidential election is due to demonic power.  "There is some serious demonic sorcery witchcraft thing going on here that would even remotely make this race tight because for three and a half years these guys have destroyed America on every level," Feucht claimed "And now you have a person that is actually convincing a lot of America that she is going to do something she hasn't done in the last three."  "That's the most mind boggling thing to me," he said "You've got to be under some serious wicked spell to buy into that."  "I'm hoping that there will be some kind of supernatural awareness that's going to come in the next 40 days."  much further in his attacks on Harris and her running mate Driscoll, who has a long history of overt misogyny began by blaming "suburban women" for Harris' popularity saying that they will just blindly vote for a woman "because they've been so indoctrinated in feminism."  "I think what's driving the surge—I would call it the Kamalagasm which is driven by the media—is a lot of just classic feminism that says 'We're just voting for her because she's a woman regardless of policy or fitness or ability,'" Driscoll said where you do see demonic forces at work in politics." "You especially see this in the days of of of Ahab "What you see there is Ahab is the the king but he's this passive She is really the power behind the throne and she comes with significant demonic authority."  Driscoll then likened Harris to Athaliah the daughter of Ahab and Jezebel who became the only female monarch to rule over ancient Israel.  the only woman that ever held the senior political office in the nation of Israel was Jezebel's daughter "One hundred percent demonic activity; a clairvoyant spirit at work behind the scenes to enable and allow that to come to pass It seems to me like Kamala Harris is very Athaliahian and working with that same sort of spirit."  Driscoll then attacked Harris for being a member of the American Baptist Church which he said is a "completely apostate" and "completely anti-God denomination" that is "an abomination." Driscoll likewise attacked Walz for being a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America completely anti-Christ abomination denomination."  "These are people who profess to be Christians," Driscoll said "They go to churches that are synagogues of Satan."  "Is there not a demonic spirit that is trying to get someone who is anti-Christ but a member of a church and denomination into a political office?" he asked you're going to have literally two people who are anti-Christ but claim to be Christians and members of the church pulling the levers for the United States of America for four years And you know for a fact 'Give me the guy or gal who claims Christ but is anti-Christ How can I help them be more efficient at their undermining mission?'"  "It's nefarious," Driscoll proclaimed (RNS) — Worship leader and conservative activist Sean Feucht has filed a lawsuit against the city of Spokane claiming the city council violated his religious freedom when it passed a resolution last year condemning an event he headlined and referring to him as an “anti-LGBTQ extremist.” pastor Matt Shea and others pray over Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward during a “Let Us Worship” event in Spokane (Video screen grab via Twitter/@josephdpeterson) which was filed on Wednesday (June 5) in Spokane County Superior Court claims four current and former members of the Spokane City Council violated the Washington State Constitution and U.S including the establishment clause that bars the government from establishing a single religion The city’s resolution “was enacted in violation of FEUCHT’s Free Exercise of Religion as established by the First Amendment,” the lawsuit claims later calling the city’s motion “a direct action that condemned and punished the public worship of FEUCHT.” City officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Friday but Feucht framed the lawsuit in combative terms “Liberals have gotten away with using the power of government to bully Christians for too long and we’re not putting up with it anymore,” Feucht said in a statement sent to Religion News Service We have the right to gather and worship and pray without being attacked and maligned by our own government The lawsuit is the latest chapter in a controversy over an incident that occurred last August when then-Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward drew backlash for attending an event in the city organized by Feucht The event was part of Feucht’s “Let Us Worship” tour which kicked off during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and drew criticism for hosting in-person concerts across the country — often in defiance of local pandemic restrictions The events were marked by controversy: At one gathering in Portland, Oregon, Feucht’s security included at least one member of the extremist group Proud Boys and a person charged in connection with the Jan “If you mess with them or our 1st amendment right to worship God – you’ll meet Jesus one way or another,” Feucht once tweeted alongside a picture of his security team Feucht has also been an outspoken critic of LGBTQ+ rights campaigns, using the term “groomers” to refer to their supporters and once tweeting “The LGBTQ+ mafia is a cult bent on perverting and destroying the innocence of every child they can.” Last year’s worship event in Spokane also featured local pastor Matt Shea, the head of On Fire Ministries who has appeared at multiple events associated with Christian Nationalism and a regional Christian separatist movement known as the American Redoubt Shea was once a Republican state lawmaker but was kicked out of the state GOP caucus after an independent investigation found him guilty of domestic terrorism due to his involvement with the armed takeover of Oregon’s Malheur Wildlife Refuge in 2016 It was later revealed Shea had distributed a document condemned same-sex marriage and suggested murdering all non-Christian males “if they do not yield” in a hypothetical war Shea also attended a protest in 2022 of an LGBTQ+ pride event in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho, which sits just across the state border from Spokane. Two people connected to his church were among the 31 members of the White Supremacist group Patriot Front who were arrested in the back of a U-Haul at the event with police claiming the men were planning to riot Shea prayed over Woodward during the August event in Spokane and Feucht as he asked God to urge Woodward and other political leaders to “stand on the foundation The appearance sparked immediate backlash from critics both for its content and for Woodward’s decision to attend the service even as wildfires engulfing nearby forests blackened the sky Woodward eventually issued a statement distancing herself from Shea saying the pastor “politicize(d) a gathering of thousands of citizens who joined together yesterday to pray for fire victims and first responders.” She lost her reelection bid in November City council members listed Shea’s past controversies in their resolution last September condemning Woodward’s appearance at the event The resolution also referred to Feucht as an “anti-LGBTQ extremist,” and noted city council members had received a letter signed by local faith leaders condemning Christian Nationalism and calling on elected officials to “hold fast to the separation of church and state.” “Feucht was well advertised as being featured at this event and is known for his bigotry toward LGBTQ+ people and his embrace of the label of ‘Christian Nationalist,’” read a copy of the faith leaders’ statement obtained by RNS also referred to Shea as ascribing to “violent Christian dominionist and White Supremacist ideology.” which was organized in part by a conservative legal outfit known as the Silent Majority Foundation arguing that mention of it alongside other language in the city council’s resolution effectively “declared the religious views of certain people to be acceptable or unacceptable.” Elsewhere it argues the city council targeted Feucht in part because he “does not support the LGBTQ agenda.” The lawsuit concludes: “This Resolution constitutes speech and it violated the restrictions of the establishment clause.” Pastor Matt Shea records a video in Coeur d’Alene shortly after members of a White Nationalist group were arrested Feucht initially appeared to distance himself from Shea’s views when controversy erupted last year Feucht said he prays with a broad swath of people during their services and while “not all of them agree with each other on every issue … we all agree that there is only ONE WAY under heaven to be saved “We are taking a stand against the bigotry and hatred against Christians in the city of Spokane,” Feucht told church members this past weekend while holding a copy of the lawsuit aloft saying that “God is rebranding June to be Family Month in America,” before adding Expressing concerns about the Establishment Clause is something of a turn for Feucht, who declared before an Oklahoma church last April that he prefers laws written by believers. He was even more explicit later that year, saying in an interview “I want a country where Christians are making the laws.” Feucht did not respond to questions regarding how he reconciles his new lawsuit with his past rhetoric The new lawsuit, which also claims Feucht’s free speech rights were violated, goes on to insist Feucht was “damaged in emotional distress and other non-economic damages” by the city’s resolution and demands he be compensated. According to the InLander Fuecht initially filed a damages claim in January arguing city council members who backed the resolution “acted under the color of law to reprieve Feucht of his federally guaranteed First Amendment and Fourteenth Amendment rights CEDARBURG — Bradley Klos and Nick Feucht spent Tuesday evening making some last-minute inspections of their utility truck and equipment The two work for Cedarburg Light & Water Utility With anticipated damage from Hurricane Milton the two will join dozens of others from around Wisconsin and the country to help restore power Bradley and Nick will work side-by-side with Kissimmee Utility Authority workers in Kissimmee Both found out just Tuesday morning that they’d be going “Not knowing how much damage there’s going to be What’s going to be the major problem down there.” Their primary role will be to help put power poles back up and restring wires Feucht said the truck isn’t loaded with anything extra regarding hardware and equipment They’ll be using the same materials they’d use in Cedarburg Watch: Cedarburg power crew ready to provide relief as Hurricane Milton approaches Water and wind will pose the biggest challenges for them Klos said not being able to see what’s underwater like downed trees and debris can pose serious risks but it’s also comforting to know that help is on the way,” said Klos The two both told TMJ4 they were packing extra boots there is no timetable for when they will return and everything they’d use daily to get the job done “I’m going to try and keep a clear head and safety in mind and start from there,” said Klos Both Klos and Feucht said they are looking forward to helping out and returning the favor Wisconsin has required help from powerline workers across the country “I was hoping that I would be doing something like this someday,” said Klos Cedarburg Light & Water Utility is part of Municipal Electric Utilities of Wisconsin Other crews from the Milwaukee area heading down with them include Oconomowoc and Hartford We Energies also plans to send crews down to Florida on Wednesday Stream local news and weather 24/7 by searching for “TMJ4” on your device Available for download on Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and more. Report a typo or error // Submit a news tip Report a typo It’s the morning after a consequential election Politicians and pundits are trying to make sense of what happened and why While Donald Trump’s win understandingly dominates the headlines it’s also important to consider the results in the numerous other federal We can already see a pattern that shows that candidates who espouse Christian Nationalism generally found success on Tuesday Other candidates who have explicitly advanced Christian Nationalistic ideas also won their races. And some of the biggest advocates of Christian Nationalism were at Mar-a-Lago last night to celebrate with Trump. Like Sean Feucht, fresh off his “Kingdom to the Capitol” tour A woman colors in states during an election night watch party in Cincinnati That’s not to say Christian Nationalism didn’t suffer setbacks Another result that likely won’t be known for a few days is who will be Speaker of the House. Democrats could still retake that chamber, which would end the tenure of Speaker Mike Johnson after just over a year. Johnson, who has a long record of advocating for Christian Nationalism was reelected to another term as a representative from Louisiana While a few candidates and ballot measures went against Christian Nationalism overall the ideology remains well entrenched in Washington What does all this mean? Obviously, there’s a lot of work to be done in helping preserve a church-state separation that is good for both democracy and faith. But more so, last night’s results show the need for Christians to address the heretical ideology of Christian Nationalism in our churches and denominations There’s stuff to be done in the public square but the work needed in our sanctuaries and Bible studies is significant Let us offer an alternative witness with the global faith taught by Jesus Former Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward has filed a claim for damages against the city she once ran – alleging the City Council violated her free speech rights and engaged in election interference These charges stem from a September 2023 resolution in which the body officially condemned Woodward for appearing on stage with Christian nationalists Sean Feucht and Matt Shea The resolution was approved in a 4-3 vote with current council members Zack Zappone and Betsy Wilkerson as well as former council members Karen Stratton and Lori Kinnear in favor In her claim submitted to the city on Thursday Woodward lists the “entire city attorney’s office” and “most citizens of Spokane” as witnesses to the misconduct she alleges “A four member majority of the Spokane City Council in violation of the state and federal constitution ‘condemned’ speech by Woodward which speech is protected by the state and federal constitutions The City Council did so with the intent of interfering with the then-upcoming mayoral election and promoting the candidacy of Woodward’s opponent,” she wrote in the claim “The council’s violations of speech and association rights and election interference.” Woodward is prepared to settle with the city for $1.4 million A claim against the city is a legal demand for compensation based upon some damage done to the person filing the claim Woodward did not immediately respond to a request for comment Earlier this year Feucht sued the city over the same resolution with similar free speech claims Spokane spokesperson Erin Hut confirmed the city had received Woodward’s claim Thursday and lawyers are currently reviewing the document “We will process it like any other claim we receive,” she said Resolution co-sponsor Zappone said in a statement that the City Council was in its rights to denounce Woodward “The Council’s decision to denounce former Mayor Woodward by resolution in September 2023 was within its legal authority Council Member Zappone strongly denies the claims and allegations in Former Mayor Woodward’s claim for damages and is confident the legal process will reject them Woodward joined the event last August and received a blessing from Shea a controversial former state representative The event was a stop on Feucht’s Kingdom to the Capitol tour Woodward distanced herself from the controversial figures “I am opposed to his political views as they are a threat to our democracy and I regret my public appearance with him,” she wrote of Shea in a statement “I was invited to share in prayer with several thousand citizens out of heartfelt concern for fire victims first responders and our whole community.” The city’s resolution states the council does not “condone” Woodward’s appearance at the event “The Spokane City Council formally denounces Mayor Nadine Woodward for her actions that associated her with an alleged domestic terrorist who has participated in the planning of taking arms up against the United States of America and denounces her preplanned attendance that associates her with known anti-LGBTQ extremist and hateful rhetoric,” reads the resolution
