CORRECTS CAPTION INFORMATION - Police officers search a car during a raid in Garbsen
BERLIN (AP) — German police arrested two men Thursday following raids targeting organized migrant smuggling in the country’s capital and the northern state of Lower Saxony
About 260 officers took part in the raids and searches at eight properties in Lower Saxony and another six in Berlin
The suspects are accused of smuggling more than 200 migrants
was placed in custody in Lehrte near Hanover on the basis of an Austrian arrest warrant
But security officials alleged the two were part of a group of smugglers
that allegedly brought at least 208 migrants into the EU during a dozen trips between August 2022 and June 2023
The men are suspected of transporting the migrants in extreme heat and “unsuitable vehicles” and did not give the passengers rest or food
They allegedly charged 4,000-5,000 euros ($4,357-$5,446) per person

EmailOld Continental Headquarters in former plant Hanover-Vahrenwald
"After examining various offers of potentially suitable plots in Hanover and Garbsen
we opted for the two vacant areas near the Pferdeturm in Hanover
We are planning to build our new headquarters there in the form of a modern construction with a campus-style design that is a striking feature for both the city and our company and facilitates communication
We will also have sufficient reserve space there
which will offer further development potential for the future," said Dr. Elmar Degenhart
chairman of the Continental Executive Board
and highly competitive offers from Hanover and Garbsen were submitted to us – both of which would have been worthy winners
as the representatives from both the city of Hanover and the town of Garbsen showed an extraordinarily high level of commitment
We are extremely grateful to both administrative bodies for this."
"Continental and Hanover belong together in the future as well
The city's administrative body was able to offer Continental the best possible location during a highly professional selection process
We will provide professional support in terms of design and construction for all further steps in the creation of modern Continental headquarters in Hanover with an interdisciplinary project team," said the mayor of state capital Hanover, Stefan Schostok
"We made the decision in favor of Hanover after carefully considering all advantages and disadvantages based on important criteria such as costs
The plots in both places were more or less on a par in this regard," said Degenhart
He stated that it was the greater degree of planning security in Hanover that ultimately proved decisive
This alternative is now to be substantiated by means of further negotiations
The important issues for this were initially laid down in writing by Continental and the city in a memorandum of understanding between both parties
the provision of support in conducting an architectural competition
the creation of an innovative structure over the road to connect the two plots
and the concrete project execution are just some of the issues that will be the subject of the up-and-coming discussions
Both parties hope to conclude the negotiations by the end of the year
The transfer of ownership is planned for the first quarter of 2017
and the move to the new headquarters is to be completed in 2020
The technology company is expecting its capital expenditure for the complete project (plot
etc.) to reach into the high double-digit million euro range

The ND filter-holder will help producers avoid oversaturation and glare in sports and events production
Germany—Dream Chip has improved on the ability of their cameras to capture high quality images from sports and events by adding an ND filter-holder that will help producers avoid oversaturation and glare in harsh or rapidly changing light.
The filter-holders will be added to its AtomOne mini cameras
The addition is particularly beneficial in sports where the camera is mounted on something moving
A number of high profile racing competitions already integrate versions of the AtomOne mini and ND filter-holder addition into their broadcast setup
Dream Chip added that while internal mounting of cameras in race sports has an established history
it often represents a complex trade-off between the needs of the racers and the needs of the audience
inconvenience and potential risk to the competitors while the need to keep cameras small and capable of withstanding the intense conditions of motor racing often meant a compromise in broadcast quality and reliability
The AtomOne mini was designed to overcome this problem
It is only a little larger than a euro coin and weighs just 45 grams
making it safer to the racers while its exceptional image quality mean that producers can be confident they are getting the highest quality images
with exceptional reliability due to the rugged build quality
“The ND filter-holder is a natural extension of our product and the philosophy behind it: namely
the ability to capture exceptional image quality even in the most challenging of conditions,” explained Christian Kühn
head of sales and product marketing for Dream Chip.
“The development of the ND filter-holder stemmed from consultation with existing customers,” he continued
“By developing to accommodate the needs of specific users who we already have an established relationship with
we are able to create enhancements that benefit the whole market
We remain committed to always finding ways to meet the needs of our customers; this balance between in-house innovation and customer-led development is what keeps us leading the market in terms of miniaturized camera innovation
and we’re very fortunate for it”
Dream Chip will showcase this new feature at IBC 2021 on booth 11.C36

The AtomOne mini AIR cameras were used for the line-to-gain pylons
Germany—Dream Chip made it to the Super Bowl earlier this year
providing its AtomOne mini AIR camera for the line-to-gain wireless pylon cameras used in the production
Two AtomOne mini AIR cameras were integrated into each line-to-gain camera
selected by 3g Wireless—the equipment and services provider to CBS
The cameras weigh 45 grams and measure in at 30x30x18mm
They also featured an S-mount lens to provide Full HD resolution
Another key component of the AtomOne mini AIR was its ability to complement the broadcast’s larger-scale camera setups
The camera could color match with these other cameras
eliminating any need for adjustment in the studio
It was also integrated with a CyanView controller for colorimetric control
3g Wireless Director for Business Development and Sports Operations Gordon Capaccio praised the AtomOne mini AIR’s level of detail
saying that they were able to show “every blade of grass.”

AtomTwo camera is just slightly smaller than a ping pong ball
which specializes in miniature and point-of-view cameras
In a self-contained package just 29mm x 29mm x 33mm
the new AtomTwo offers stunning HDR quality with a huge dynamic range
The integral 4.5mm lens provides a 90˚ field of view
perfect for body-worn ref cams as well as fixed POV uses
it is also perfect for mounting on a miniature drone
giving broadcasters viewpoints which have been impossible in the past
Dream Chip says the AtomTwo is the smallest camera with a global shutter available on the market today
where it is vital in high-value productions like sports
where a rolling shutter creates very visible distortions and disturbances
The global shutter capture in the AtomTwo delivers clean
global shutter and wide colour gamut make it simple to match to box cameras in major productions
Being able to cut freely between the AtomTwo and system cameras frees directors from creative restrictions and delivers higher production values to the viewer
“During the development programme of the AtomTwo we had experienced users come in and really put the camera through its paces,” said Dr.-Ing
“They found they could match it to a system camera so well that it was hard for even an expert shader to tell which was which.”
The new AtomTwo camera will be demonstrated at NAB
Dream Chip Technologies will be in Booth N1807 in the North Hall of the LVCC

Cellar reportedly found on plot used by suspect in disappearance of British girl from Portuguese hotel in 2007
German police searching an allotment plot used by the prime suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann have reportedly found a cellar once believed to have belonged to a garden house that was torn down at the end of 2007
German media have been reporting on the apparent development
Two small excavators are being used to dig up the plot on the outskirts of the north German city of Hanover
German investigators’ main suspect in the abduction of the three-year-old British girl in 2007
Brückner reportedly lived there during 2007
He said he had lived off grid and had left within a year
which involved a large team of police officers
began in the early hours of Monday morning and is expected to continue at least until the end of Wednesday
using spades and rakes to comb over the ground
Big slabs of building materials have also been removed apparently from the remains of the foundation of the garden house
The cellar was reportedly discovered on Wednesday morning
One allotment tenant next to the plot told the newspaper Bild the cellar had belonged to the plot “for many years” and had been added by a previous tenant
It was not filled in when the summer house attached to it was torn down at the end of 2007
and added extra non-transparent screening on Wednesday
Police confirmed reports that they had shut the airspace over the area they were searching
to prevent helicopters and drones from observing from overhead
The police have not revealed what it is they are hoping to find
But a spokeswoman for state prosecutors in Braunschweig who are leading the investigation and working alongside Germany’s federal criminal police confirmed that the search was taking place as part of its investigation into the disappearance Madeleine in Portugal in 2007
police searched an abandoned factory property in the neighbouring state of Saxony-Anhalt in which Brückner is also believed to have lived
and uncovered thousands of images on video tapes and USB sticks buried there
Earlier this month Portuguese police and divers searched three wells in the area of Vila do Bispo on the Algarve
has repeatedly said in statements and interviews that investigators have concrete evidence that Brückner – who was living in Praia da Luz when Madeleine was staying in the Algarve town with her family – was involved in her disappearance
He has also said he believes the British girl is dead
but has so far declined to give more details
The allotment lies in the rural region between Hanover Ahlem and Seelze-Letter and is around 40 miles from Braunschweig
Brückner is serving a prison sentence in the city of Kiel for drug trafficking
He was confirmed as a main suspect in the disappearance last month
He lived in the Algarve between 1995 and 2007 and has two previous convictions for sexual contact with girls
one for the rape of a 72-year-old American woman
and numerous other convictions for theft and fraud
He was found guilty last December of the rape of the American woman in Praia da Luz in 2005
but is appealing against the sentence in the European court of human rights
His current prison term is due to expire in January
Stefan Wittke, a police spokesman, said survivors told authorities the fire broke out in the on-board toilet as the bus drove down the A2 autobahn near Hanove, and quickly engulfed the vehicle after the door was opened and flames shot out.
A fire department official, Claus Roehrbein, said: "Passengers who were sitting close to the exit could get away, but the others had no chance."
Thirteen people were injured, three of them with serious burns.
The bus, owned by Hanover-based company Mommeyer, was said to have had between 33 and 39 people on board.
It had been chartered by a tour group to go from Hanover on a day trip to a farm, according to Uwe Prehn, the husband of the company's owner, and was on its way back to Hanover when the fire broke out at 8.45pm local time.
All the passengers were local people, Wittke said.
Early today firefighters combed the scorched wreckage of the bus, trying to put out the fire.
It had pulled off into an emergency lane before it was engulfed in flames and its back window had been blown out.
According to Reuters, Nadia Possberg, who had been driving past, told local television: "I just saw smoke and then I got closer and closer and realised that a coach was on fire."
Germany's transport minister, Wolfgang Tiefensee, said he was "deeply shocked" by the accident and called for a careful investigation into the cause of the fire and whether safety regulations were followed.

Continental has outgrown its headquarters in Hanover
and is in the process of identifying a suitable site to build a new
The city of Hannover has already made Continental an offer in order to keep the tyre maker and automotive industry supplier at home there
however towns in the surrounding region are also attempting to lure the company to a new location so that they may benefit from Conti’s local business taxes
The town of 60,000 inhabitants hopes to attract Continental with its good access to motorways and main roads
as well as close proximity to Hannover airport
Garbsen is also only a couple of miles away from Continental’s Stöcken tyre plant
and as of 2018 will be home to Leibniz University’s new engineering campus
the town offers greenfield sites for building and lower business taxes than Hannover
The new Continental headquarters – wherever it ends up being built – is expected to be ready for occupancy in 2021
the year the company celebrates its 150th anniversary
The larger facility will have the capacity to house 1,250 Continental employees
