Over the years, the kennel had likely become outdated and no longer met modern animal care and health standards This could include issues such as inadequate ventilation all of which are critical for the health and comfort of the dogs Standard Compliance: The kennel needed to be brought up to contemporary standards and regulations governing the care and housing of military working dogs These standards ensure that dogs have the best living conditions to maintain their physical and mental health Meeting these standards is not only essential for the dogs’ welfare but also for complying with military regulations and ethical responsibilities The existing complex will remain operational during construction with the new facility projected to be ready for occupancy by October 2025 The military working dogs stationed in Grafenwöhr provide crucial law enforcement support for USAG Bavaria 1st Class Steven Staples of the Europe Combined Military Working Dog Detachment emphasized: “To have these dogs housed well in proper kennels and to make sure that their health is taken care of is of the utmost importance for the safety of the community.” The new complex will encompass an impressive 5,070 square feet (471 square meters) the facility will feature food preparation and storage areas “We have narcotics dogs and explosive detection dogs we will be able to house 14 dogs in total.” Col. Richard Stearns, Commander of the US Army 18th Military Police Brigade, underlined that the new complex will be pivotal in securing the “proper training, safety, and well-being” of the service’s working dog teams This facility will further underscore their significance as strategic assets for European Currently, military working dog training in the US Army entails 120 days of rigorous preparation at the Joint Base San Antonio in Fort Sam Houston the dogs engage in field deployments and ongoing training at their respective installations these dedicated canines retire at around nine years of age often transitioning into the care of their former handlers As someone who’s seen what happens when the truth is distorted I know how unfair it feels when those who’ve sacrificed the most lose their voice you’re not just leveling the playing field—you’re standing with those who’ve already given so much ensuring they continue to serve by delivering stories that matter Every subscription means we can hire more veterans and keep their hard-earned knowledge in the fight You must become a subscriber or login to view or post comments on this article Anduril Is the Netflix of War—and the Old Defense Giants Are About to Get Blockbuster’d SOFREP Evening Brief: Trump Annoys 1.4 Billon Catholics by Posting Pic of Himself As Pope Putin Says He Hopes He Won’t Have to Use Nukes in Ukraine Mexico Rejects US Offer to Send Troops Across the Border British Special Air Service Compromised: How a Decade-Long Security Oversight Put Elite Operatives at Risk The Great Goat Heist: Inside the Navy’s Mascot Snatch · 4 hours ago SOFREP Evening Brief: Israel Approves Gaza Seizure Plan, Pakistan Conducts Second Missile Test · 5 hours ago Anduril Is the Netflix of War—and the Old Defense Giants Are About to Get Blockbuster’d · 9 hours ago SOFREP Evening Brief: Trump Annoys 1.4 Billon Catholics by Posting Pic of Himself As Pope, Putin Says He Hopes He Won’t Have to Use Nukes in Ukraine, Mexico Rejects US Offer to Send Troops Across the Border · 10 hours ago SOFREP Evening Brief: Trump Annoys 1.4 Billon Catholics by Posting Pic of Himself As Pope, Putin Says He Hopes He Won’t Have to Use Nukes in Ukraine, Mexico Rejects US Offer to Send Troops Across the Border · 1 day ago Your Subscription Supports our Veteran Staff and more than 75 State Department-approved countries around the world Our ultra-portable washing machine makes your journey easier pocket-sized travel companion allows you to travel lighter while helping you save money Our roots in shooting sports started off back in 1996 with our founder and CEO His love of airguns took hold of our company from day one and we became the first e-commerce retailer dedicated to airguns customers turned to us for our unmatched product selection and continued support of the sport and airgun industry RecPak is a meal replacement for the outdoors that saves you weight space and time in the most challenging environments This work, USAG Bavaria welcomes apprentices to workforce, by Natalie Simmel, identified by DVIDS, must comply with the restrictions shown on https://www.dvidshub.net/about/copyright family hardship and finding self-identity has been adapted into a one-act play with the right amount drama sprinkled with laughs “Little Women,” directed by Rachel Harper sweeps us into Louisa May Alcott’s story of the March sisters Jo March (Donna Faye) writes in her journal and we fall into the world of her thoughts and fantasy Faye brings a natural sense to Jo and provides those funny moments we all need as life gets serious The small cast seem to effortlessly convey the lessons Alcott intended: to love one another and patiently wait for the positive outcomes life will bring Emotions run high as Beth (Sadie Zufelt) catches scarlet fever and we are all drawn into the moment of feeling that a loved one is ill and we are helpless We learn that it’s important to move forward It’s a real tear-jerker moment: tissues recommended We watch as the family handles the events of the American Civil War as Christmas approaches The period costumes and vintage set pieces help us feels as if we belong in the March living room of the 1800s The sisters struggle with sadness and rivalries even as they are trying to define themselves and we realize that they aren’t so different from ourselves the somber undertones are punctuated with fun moments of laughter pain and struggles the sisters learn who they are and we understand that those challenges also help us to grow but our memories and love for family will always be there This work, USAG Bavaria ups force protection during two-day exercise, by Natalie Simmel, identified by DVIDS, must comply with the restrictions shown on https://www.dvidshub.net/about/copyright This work, Army CID Special Agents Host Boy Scouts in Grafenwöhr, by Thomas B. Performing Arts in Grafenwöhr the performance offers a comedic look at group dynamics as the members of a local book club become the subject of a documentary film themed around six individual books and leading to the discovery of personal characteristic and stories for the six book club members a Pundit (Merry McKeown) takes the stage to divulge funny anecdotes about human nature and our connection to books The cast of “The Book Club Play” are synchronous working off each other’s cues and delivering the sometimes-serious nature of their interpersonal workings with well-timed comedy The affluent members of this literary meeting are led by Ana (Chelsea Hain) who comes across as wonderfully overly dramatic manipulating the meetings and directly speaking to the camera in order to steer the documentary toward her aims and the well-crafted sets give it a cozy and relaxing upper-middle-class feel Add to that the fun banter about literature and we feel as if we have really dropped in on a slightly-snobbish book club With the addition of the documentary film camera As the play progresses and secrets come to life we begin to understand that this is a group of people who appear to be friends but don’t truly know one another Rob (SPC Kai Johnson) is Ana’s husband and is initially a reluctant member of the club Lily (Vanessa Edwards) inadvertently makes trouble with her comments Will (PFC Tom Wade) begins to understand himself in a whole new way through the lens of trash novels Jen holds secrets that go well beyond the book club and her invitation to new member Alex (Cody Burkart) marks the beginning of changes too uncontrolled for leader Ana to handle As more and more of the group’s secrets come to life on camera (and on stage) the perfection makes way for chaos in dramatic We feel that she wants to keep the book club alive She is usurped and we discover that her secret comes at the expense of the book club members we realize that we may not know someone as well as we think and no matter how perfect we want things to appear life still happens and everyone has their own story This work, U.S. Army Europe hosts Rappel Master Course, by Anthony Sweeney, forces stationed in Grafenwöhr on 13 July saying: "Thank you for your service is of existential importance to the security of my country I stand before you as the President of this country to deliver a clear and simple message: Thank you Peace and security – maybe we have taken it for granted for too long But now war has returned to the European continent Russia’s brutal and illegal invasion of Ukraine has shattered the European security order It has brought terrible suffering upon Ukraine and its people It has killed thousands and driven millions from their homes That is why we support Ukraine – and that is why we know: NATO is here for a reason Your grandfathers and great-grandfathers have fought to free our continent of the Nazi terror Your parents and grandparents have secured our path toward a new beginning Generations of brave American men and women have served in Germany And – who knows – some of them might even have come to appreciate our beer and bratwurst owe our gratitude to all of them – to those who are serving with you in Germany and across Europe I want to send my greetings and my gratitude to the hundreds of thousands of veterans and their families in America My second message to you: We stand united in this difficult time We are united in our support of Ukraine – politically and financially Our unity and resolve have never been as crucial as now And unity and resolve is exactly what we have shown in NATO My third message is this: Germany will do everything in its power to uphold this unity We stand by our commitment to collective defence provide more troops on NATO’s eastern flank and comprehensively modernise Germany’s armed forces we are ready to defend every inch of NATO territory Soldiers: Thank you again for all that you do with us and for us also send my warmest regards to your loved ones at home – your husbands and wives I know that it is their sacrifice as much as yours board CH-47 Chinook helicopters during the exercise Saber Junction at the 7th Army Training Command's Grafenwoehr Training Area (Gertrud Zach/Army)WASHINGTON — While “great power competition” and “strategic competition” are more recent watchwords ringing through the halls of the Pentagon competition is nothing new to the soldiers of the Bavaria “[We’ve been competing] from 2014 right on with Crimea — or you can even go back to 2007-2008 [with the] Georgia invasion [and] Estonia cyberattack,” 7th ATC commander Brig “So we’ve certainly been in a competitive space for a while.” Hilbert’s force is the Army’s only overseas training command responsible for the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels Germany; the Joint Multinational Simulation Center; and other multinational training efforts in the theater “training is competition,” and the 7th ATC is uniquely situated and resourced to be the locus of the Army’s competitive efforts in Europe “It’s building readiness in the formations that are here making sure that they’re ready for anything .. in support of the United States or NATO,” Hilbert said “There’s a deterrent effect when you’re prepared [and] we know that deterrence is part of competition.” The Pentagon’s embrace of competition as the driving principle of its strategic posture has seen the 7th ATC’s relevance dramatically increase “I’ve seen a surge in demand,” said Hilbert adding that his resources have increased as part of the European Defense Initiative William Mullins scans the area for simulated opposing forces at Hohenfels Training Area an exercise designed to assess readiness and promote interoperability with allied and partner nations Randis Monroe/Army)The command’s simulation center played a key role in this spring’s V Corps command post exercise The Army reactivated the Europe-focused command at Fort Knox last year to help with the service’s efforts to compete in Europe The 7th ATC also regularly administers exercises in Lithuania “Being forward in the competitive space gives us a real appreciation for what the competition looks like,” Hilbert said the command can train with partner forces on the very terrain where a potential conflict would take place One unique feature of the command’s multinational approach moving forward service members to learn from partner forces who are competing — and sometimes fighting — with Russia in real time Some European partners remain bogged down in frozen conflicts in Ukraine and Georgia “You’re able to have that first-hand dialogue with someone who’s been in the environment different tactics that work,” Hilbert said “[We] learn from the Ukrainians who’ve come out of the Donbass .. and they are absolutely sharing with us some of the successes and failures that they’ve experienced — good lessons and bad that we’re able to incorporate into [our training] “We are the heart of readiness in Europe.” Davis Winkie covers the Army for Military Times He studied history at German federal prosecutor’s office identified the men only as Dieter S and Alexander J. They were held in the city of Bayreuth on Wednesday, accused of scouting potential targets for attacks, “including facilities of the US armed forces” stationed in Germany. They were “strongly suspected of having operated for a foreign intelligence service in a particularly serious case” and of conspiring to cause an explosive detonation and arson, as well as agent activity for sabotage purposes and recording images of military installations in a manner endangering security, the office said. Germany’s interior minister, Nancy Faeser, said Politicians say withdrawal of up to 12,000 soldiers will hurt local economy and makes little strategic sense Up to 12,000 troops from the air force and army are due to leave the region, the US defense secretary, Mark Esper, said this week in a move attributed to long-term planning by the Pentagon, but which Donald Trump said was a punishment for Berlin’s low defence spending According to initial reports, thousands of troops are due to be repositioned to bases within other Nato countries, such as Belgium, Italy and Spain, while around 6,400 will return to the US. Bases in the states of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg in the south, and in the western state of Rhineland-Palatinate will be affected. Several mayors in the region have already called on the German government to be ready to offer financial aid. The worst affected is likely to be Grafenwöhr in Bavaria, the largest Nato training base which is operated by 7th army joint multinational training command. It is due to lose 4,500 troops. Three thousand locals out of a population of 6,500, are dependent for employment on the base, and according to the mayor, Edgar Knobloch, the presence of US troops, who have been stationed there since the end of the second world war, is worth around €660m (£594m) to the local economy. “These two figures speak for themselves as to what this will mean for us,” Knobloch told the broadcaster DLF. He said the local region faced losing a reliable partner in the Americans, and local anger was likely to be triggered by any economic losses. “We have always had a very good and friendly relationship with them, including to the commanding generals ... communication has always been superb.” Knobloch said. “In us they’ve benefited from our acceptance that they’re here – for example we put up with things like the considerable noise from their weaponry.” Knobloch said it was well known that many of the troops stationed in Germany had been taken aback by the move and considered it a mistake. “Every one of them you talk to says from a strategic point of view these measures are completely unjustified ... they say they have the best conditions here, not least the Bavarian style of living, and those Americans who leave in my experience always try to get sent back here.” Read moreHe said there were “many examples” of ex-soldiers who had returned to Grafenwöhr to retire as well as plenty of soldiers who had married locals which would affect 300 to 400 civilian jobs “This is a bitter loss for the town and the whole region,” he said Schertl still hoped the decision could be reversed: “If it’s just to do with electioneering bluster maybe the plans won’t be realised if in November another US president is elected,” he said said his city was being punished for the breakdown in relations between Trump and the German government “I think what is happening is simply not OK It does not reflect the good relations which exist between the city of Stuttgart and the Americans,” he said The city’s economy would be hit badly by the withdrawal “The city will miss the consumer power of the Americans But even more than that is the loss of the German-American tradition “This announcement is like a rejection of that tight association Trump doesn’t think much of the transatlantic partnership and Putin is the one who profits from those insecurities Trump is playing Putin’s tune and that’s dangerous.” director of the Atlantic Academy said the Americans were an integral part of the German regions in which they were based having had a solid presence there since 1945 and having played a key role during the cold war “They are well integrated and the German-American relationship is sometimes perhaps like a counter-reaction to certain frictions which exist between Washington and Berlin,” he said Some political parties in Germany have welcomed the announcement having argued for years that a foreign army has no place on German soil But the Greens and Die Linke in particular are critical about the fact – indeed are keen to point out the irony –that even if they withdraw their troops the US will likely continue to store nuclear weapons on German soil as well as to coordinate much-criticised drone missions from its base in Ramstein This work, Dynamic Front 19 shows diversity is strength, by SSG John Onuoha, identified by DVIDS, must comply with the
