and therefore how they look. With this runway collection we go back to our roots and explore artisanal crafting methods being manufactured and linked solely with latex as our functional ornament we transform everyday garments to unique and irrationalshowpieces escaping into a better world. We present a series of clothing attitudes that are based on the transformation of a utilitarian wardrobe into contemporary lavish adornment The notion of sophistication and the framework that makes a garment are cut into layers and toyed with introducing an intelligent twist on what it means to be confident and sexy today. These layers are translated and redrawn with our latex lace to become something seen as well as unseen before It is a reimagining of clothing from today’s point of view GMBH “In serious times—and we are living in very serious even terrifying times—fashion can seem frivolous How can creativity survive under such conditions How can we find purpose in our work as fashion designers?Often research for a collection starts with finding inspiration through external sources We began listening to music from previous shows all while revisiting some of our favourite past GmbH looks but to find comfort in past ideas—from a time when the world might have seemed less threatening—and as an attempt to find one’s centre in destabilising times.A clarity and by working slowly and more carefully.A hermetic exercise to drown out all the noise influence and opinions of others.Focusing instead on one’s own codes one’s own heritage.(And realising in the process that many of these clothes were never shown in a physical show or truly seen before.)So our response to the initial question could only be serious But what are serious clothes?Clothes of mourning? For the second time showing in our hometown of Berlin we also returned to the poetry ofNorwegian modernist poet Gunvor Hofmo Her introspective poetry often reflects themes rooted in personal grief and existential despair.Loss and melancholy—shaped by the shadows of war—feature heavily in her work. Her poem ‘From Another Reality’ so clearly cementswhy she has been called ‘the singer of darkness.’ The poem suggests we live in parallel worlds: we see the same things and yet we do not perceive them the same. While mourning might be part of it and how these qualities can be expressed through tailoring and craft We thought of our fathers intheir suits—Benjamin’s father still never leaves the house without one Finding one’s own worth when society looks down on you.Craft is something deeply human—using one’s hands in cutting a pattern or shap-ing fabrics That’s why we decided to stage theshow in a set of draped muslin The humble material will be fully repurposed in our atelier for toiles after the show.” – Benjamin Huseby and Serhat Isik LUEDER “The Shell,” presented itself with a dramatic and dystopian feel inspired by themes of friendly stalking and voyeurism as well as the experience of getting lost in fantasy and dreams narratives of coming of age and coming to life were present which is why the designer felt drawn to tapestry and carpet prints from the 19th century—an era when upper-class wives dressed in and camouflaged themselves with the prints in their homes Lueder introduced sustainable fake fur to enhance the camp aesthetic or evoke a sense of a “new metrosexual feeling.” Elsewhere the collection featured embossed tartan prints made of lycra and skinny jeans that can be transformed into flared pants and future is best represented in the special rose print which references a handkerchief a princess from the past might have used to dry her tears The brand incorporated the contemporary emoji rose—an emblem of the present—and the spiral ANDREJ GRONAU The enchantment of beautiful seemingly purposeless objects challenges conventional notions of worth or quirky decor—serve as powerful expressions of self. From some might neglected Andrej Gronau invites you to take a second glance the FW25 collection delves into the intimate world of collected treasures—those objects we gather and cherish in our domestic spaces Wrinkled metallics transform into ornamented jackets and intricate patterns echo the nostalgic charm of vintage decor What once seemed childlike and curious now emerges asan evening wardrobe fi lled with playful sophistication. In the realm of the FW25 collection this wardrobe invites introspection while textures and colors—faded and bright painting a vivid portrait of the wonder we once held inchildhood—seeing objects simply for their being and beauty.Oversized collars blend Victorian drama with contemporary aesthetics Furry textures recalling stuffed toys highlight the nostalgic richness of cherished objects while star-shaped cut-outs draw from the playful voluminous shapes likepuffy sleeves and fl ared dresses are counterbalanced by clean utilitarian tailoring.By juxtaposing faded and shiny this collection celebrates the beauty of imperfection inviting introspection about the sentimental worth of objects and rummage as vessels of memory and self-expression.The glitter of rhinestones the delicate shine of tinsel or fake pearls evoke a visual nostalgia unburdened by fi nancial value as their allure lies not in their utility but in their ability to evoke an immediate emotional response—reminding us that beauty is not bound by purpose or value UGG® Southern California-based global lifestyle brand UGG® takes over the 5th floor of Kant-Garagen at Intervention with a special installation designed to Kim Reynolds' initial bill while Senate Republicans advance their own version More: What are AEAs and why is Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds trying to overhaul the special ed agencies? Iowans filled the committee room where the hearing took place while a few others spilled into the hallway several dozen people wearing shirts emblazoned with messages in support of AEAs watched the hearing on a television set up in an overflow room Every so often the crowd burst into cheers in support of one of the pro-AEA speakers a few children colored signs reading “We ❤ Iowa AEAs" and “Support AEAs Because they treat people RIGHT!” while others watched the hearing on their phones Among those who gave feedback on the plan Wednesday were several parents whose children require special education services and have interacted with Iowa's AEAs whose five children have received services from the AEAs told lawmakers that the plan would "exacerbate gaps" in services and between students and districts And she lamented that early conversations on the issue had lacked proper input from parents and educators "I feel like that aspect of this conversation was completely bowled over by an out-of-state agency writing up something about a system they don’t even understand Reynolds just taking that and running with it,” Dillon said said while she "appreciates the services" her son receives she was alarmed by her son's "educational outcomes" in math and other subjects "I'm concerned with how much emphasis is put on my son being put in the least restrictive environment," said Gronau adding she believed changes were often made to the "system rather than based on the individual needs of the students." Iowa's AEAs received near-universal praise among the district superintendents who spoke Wednesday evening as they acknowledged the work of the agencies' thousands of staffers and key services they provide But they were divided on the plan to restructure the agencies While those who support the bill argued the dollars were best spent on districts to find their own services others who opposed it expressed concerns that smaller districts would suffer the superintendent for the Woodward-Granger Community School District said any restructuring plan that involves "rapid change" without proper input is "doomed to failure." "When we rush change from the top in an effort to get rid of something we perceive we don't want the likelihood of getting something worse increases," Lane said More: Which Iowa bills are alive? AEA overhaul, defining 'man' and 'woman' survive 'funnel' week He said he was worried whether services now provided by the AEA to students in his 1,000-enrollment district would remain intact and stable if the bill were to proceed The head of College Community School District in Cedar Rapids called his district's partnership with its AEA "gold standard" and urged lawmakers not to blame student achievement metrics on the agencies But he said his district was not currently able to "access all of the services available based on our needs." "I have a responsibility to our students and our families to engage fully in any conversation that might provide additional resources for students in an ever-changing educational landscape," Wheeler said Several employees of Area Education Agencies spoke against the bill Wednesday, including Stacey Warren, a Heartland AEA social worker who was on site in Perry shortly after a school shooting last month She pointed to the AEA's capability to roll out emergency response teams and substitute teachers — infrastructure that she was doubtful districts would be able to replicate locally "Districts are not prepared and do not have the resources to handle these things alone," said Warren were trained to address seemingly minor issues that impact families after traumatic events 'Did you remember to turn off attendance?' so that the students who died (don't) get their parents emailed to see if they're going to be there today?" Warren said Other staffers who work at AEAs attended the hearing Wednesday frustrated by the process advancing the bill and worrying of its impact if it becomes law "I think the legislation is going to be really really damaging to Iowa’s public education system for decades to come," said Teran Buettell a school psychologist who works at Great Prairie AEA "I think it’s going to create damage that will not easily be repaired even if they see the error of their ways and try to go back and rebuild it." More: Iowa special ed advocates say new House plan for AEAs is better, but more changes needed AEAs would remain the sole provider of special education services for K-12 schools But schools could choose whether to continue contracting with AEAs for media services and general education services under a "fee for service" structure or get those services from a private provider The House proposal would continue sending all federal special education dollars directly to the AEAs rather than to individual school districts State aid and property tax dollars that currently go to the AEAs would go to school districts under the House bill but districts would be required to continue using AEAs for special education services The bill also creates a task force to make recommendations on AEA properties Stephen Gruber-Miller covers the Iowa Statehouse and politics for the Register. to offer – our city is quite lovely and quaint but sometimes you just want to get out for the sake of getting out With the summer comes the perfect time to leave Enschede for a little while to experience some more of what the region has to offer a perfect city for a day trip from EnschedeMost trips within the Netherlands can be day trips if you plan them accordingly so I could have listed every place in the Netherlands reachable by train from Enschede from the station than just using the usual modes of public transport especially for a day trip (at just € 4,55) and you’ll never want any other public transport once you have a trusty bike by your side Located a half-hour bike ride from Enschede Gronau is a really close German town to the East of Enschede (perks of living super close to the border Going to Gronau by bike is the definition of a day trip: you can take some really scenic routes and experience a great deal of nature on your bike there’s a nice free zoo you can visit for an hour or two (with wallabies/kangaroos!) and there’s comparatively cheaper food available I recently went and visited some of the parks and of course ate some nice food at the end (a little Asian restaurant called Asia Haus really good food) all in the span of around 5 hours If you’re planning on going here to check out some of Germany While you could technically cycle the 20 kilometers from Enschede I’d really just take the train if I were you Bad Bentheim is a small town near the border and you can take a train from either Enschede or Hengelo if you live closer A must see in Bad Bentheim is its famous castle as well as the town’s various churches and gothic architecture then Bad Bentheim’s the ideal day trip to make You could also make this trip if you’re already in Gronau and want to bike a bit further ;) though this time I would implore you to take the train (unless you really want to bike with a bustling population and a university There’s lots to do here: from gazing at architecture and exploring the city to experiencing Münster’s night life – if there’s one thing I’m sure of You could take a stroll along the Prinzipalmarkt and ogle at the gabled buildings Lambert’s Church a bit further along and view the inside and finally wander about the Rathaus (town hall) I would recommend stopping by the rooftop cafe for a little break between exploring the city – aside from some nice coffee the cafe offers a gorgeous panoramic view of the historic city If you get the chance to visit the city during Christmas time then the Münster Christmas Markets are a must visit so you can’t go wrong with any of them – one of the advantages of living in a small yet well-connected country Deventer is around an hour away from Enschede so enough to sightsee and be back in time for dinner One of the oldest cities in the Netherlands and some of the coziest shops I’ve ever been in Deventer is apparently famous for its cookies which I’m ashamed to say have not yet tried Deventer also hosts the Deventer Bookmarket (usually on the first Sunday of August) which is fitting for a city so historically important for its printing businesses If you want to change things up a little and get away from Enschede for just a little bit About half an hour away from Deventer is Zwolle the transport hub of the Eastern Netherlands – you’re well connected to just about every major city if you find yourself in Station Zwolle you can rent a boat and sightsee the city from its canals and check out the inner city right after There’s a great bookstore called Van der Velde which is located in a church and also serves as a cafe Zwolle is well-known for its restaurants – why not treat yourself and have a picturesque dinner by the city center where you can also gaze at the magnificent Grote Kerk From museums and architecture-marvelling to shopping Zwolle is always a place I look forward to visiting Het Rutbeek is a lake in the South of Enschede but it’s far enough from the city that you can officially call it a day trip if you decide to go there and not by taxi (you know exactly who you are) and you’ll be treated by a really nice route filled with greenery and nature you can do your typical lake activities: go for a swim and have a nice big barbecue with your friends so grab your friends and drag them to Het Rutbeek Grab the opportunity for a trip now while the school year is over Hopefully you have a great day in any location you choose for a day trip Stories on this platform cover our latest research by pioneering scientists and student
