NORMAN, Okla. — Jan Jensen flipped her palms to the sky and marched down the Iowa women's basketball sideline with a blend of panic and purpose. Of all the ways Saturday's NCAA Tournament opener could've started
Two fouls on Hannah Stuelke in less than two minutes had the Hawkeyes' first-year head coach staring down early adversity before Iowa was even settled in against Murray State
Jensen knew what she was searching for as she made her way down the Iowa bench
letting out frustration to anyone within earshot
But deploying her contingency plan this quickly was far from ideal
Ava Heiden sprung up and calmly checked in to help stabilize the emerging turbulence
Fellow freshman Taylor Stremlow joined Heiden on the floor a few minutes later
There'd be no easing into this NCAA Tournament debut
no chance for self-doubt to wiggle in while bracing for this heightened stage
The response this first-year duo delivered in Iowa's emphatic 92-57 win accentuates all Jensen has preached while bringing this promising freshmen group along
More: Leistikow's 5 Iowa vs Murray State thoughts: Everyone plays and scores in feel-good win
Career-highs from Heiden (15 points) and Stremlow (10 points) provided perfect reinforcement at the season's most critical juncture
If the Hawkeyes are going to stick around in this NCAA Tournament
production outside Iowa's offensive nucleus is essential
right?" Jensen said with Heiden and Stremlow flanked to her side in the postgame press conference
"And these two were terrific high school players
It can be a tricky ordeal with freshmen on the fringe who are solid enough to offer promise for the future but inconsistent enough to become maddening in the present
Jensen has talked repeatedly about the dangers of bringing first-year players along too quickly when they aren't quite ready
Freshman confidence can be a fragile item to possess
it was fair to wonder how high the ceilings were for Heiden and Stremlow in their debut seasons
Iowa's 6-foot-4 center entered the month of March still searching for that breakout performance
Stremlow's minutes slowly declined over the back half of Big Ten play
The NCAA Tournament is hardly a place to work out kinks
All Heiden and Stremlow did Saturday was re-affirm the belief Jensen has had all year in both
ready to come off and do well and perform for the team
"I think that just over the past few months
I've been put in a lot — a lot of extra work — and that has helped me get to the competence level and skill level to be able to come into games like this and perform well."
Heiden's late-season ascension has been more pronounced
with Saturday standing as her third consecutive double-digit scoring performance after having zero in Iowa's first 30 games
athleticism and tenacity allowed Iowa to keep its significant post advantage going despite having Stuelke on the bench
Heiden delivered seven points in less than two minutes immediately after checking in
igniting Iowa's 13-0 first-quarter surge that restored order following the instant chaos
Heiden then turned things over to Stremlow
who drained a trey at the end of the quarter before splashing home another early in the second
Those together marked the first time this season Stremlow hit multiple 3-pointers in the same game
A tough mid-range amid Iowa's 8-0 sprint to end the first half punctuated Stremlow's impressive opening
Stremlow and freshman Aaliyah Guyton accounted for 23 of the Hawkeyes' 42 first-half points
it’s the best time of the year," Stremlow said
I sent my family a picture of my (blue) NCAA badge this morning
To have an impact on a game in the tournament is pretty special.”
Those who've watched teams rip off lengthy NCAA Tournament runs know stars must shine — but that unexpected role-player contributions can inject life in the most dire moments
In order for players to have postseason production outshine their regular-season roles
a culture that stresses patience and importance is usually the catalyst
The Hawkeyes don't get Saturday's timely freshman output without instilling confidence all the way through a grueling season
More adversity is inevitably coming Iowa's way
3 seed Oklahoma up next in its home building
The way the Hawkeyes handled Saturday's helping of it offers more evidence the next batch can be hurdled as well

Occupation and employer: At RHK Construction my role extends from Chief Executive Officer to Community Engagement with our trowel trades in education efforts
Advocating for the construction industry as a signatory Contractor with the BAC Administrative District Council 1 of Illinois and Proud member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers as a seventh-generation mason
Campaign Website: https://linqapp.com/katieforsd308
Marital status/Immediate family: Married with four children active in the school district and continuing their education
Our school district has had a wide range of ELA interventions over the last 20 years from Wilson Reading Systems
If we can integrate AI technology in our schools we should research new methods as Bionic Reading improves reading proficiency and words per minute while still retaining the full content
our students could receive help from added interventions available to the whole class when taking standardized testing
or shortening test material can provide more accurate reflections
As our nation has been melting pot of cultural
and political differences it’s when we teach our students to unite for the better of the next generation
Student Success happens when we hold different forms of education and opportunities at equitable levels to volunteer
Having these opportunities available to all students regardless of SAT
I have seen an increase in students with vaping and cannabis concerns at the high school level
With raised concern about students taking bathroom breaks for these substances
We need more advocation on how this affects their education
and professional lifestyle in the years to come
For student safety we need a multilayer approach
currently our district has upgraded its technology for entry safety in our schools
We need more than technology to measure our students’ safety
Our schools have an overwhelming need for more social work
K-12 to provide minutes and services to students at risk or students that struggle
Increased Social work can aid in mental health at preventative levels as our school counselor per student ratio seems high to effectively impact student well-being
Our family has been in district 308 schools for three generations now K-12 with our current children working on their continued education and public education in district 308
For public education districts they follow Federal
Like most guidelines there are rating scales from K-12
Our district librarians have it organized per grade
and interest level ratings per content and plot
These sections of reading material would differ from 1st grade to 5th grade
For any operations under the NAICS code public education gets treated as government instrumentalities in public service
The implementation of standard inflation near 2-3% every year is key to not having deficits
and reviewing audits for improvement on quarterly and annual spending is key to meeting a fully funded school district
Our district needs to extend community outreach with collaborations on state and local levels bringing gaps for new revenue potential
Deficits and revenue potential reside in contract reviews
Performing quarterly profit loss statements for areas affected by the Esser fund relief dissolving would be detrimental to resources
Quarterly profit loss statements for separate entity services
or chapters could provide a broader picture of how opportunities vary within district 308 schools
Education districts follow federal and state guidelines to give equal opportunities to all students across all programs
We also have insurance providers that can assess different risk factors and liabilities as new bills or amendments pass
The funding of new mandated bills or amendments can be an issue for school districts with deficits from lack of funding
If bullying or harassment continues to be an issue for individuals of transgender at our schools
I could see a neutral setting helping the mental health and safety for these students as our public spaces have moved forward
even though it feels disheartening for many hard working families
I would be bound by the policies put in place from federal
Cell phones being stored while classroom instruction takes place have increased productivity
and improved student engagement with teachers and the material given
Being sensitive that each student’s situation could be different for personal matters
Giving said students the opportunity to check their phone for a message
or call from their parent or guardian would help address these issues or emergencies
Developing either a monthly or quarterly presentations on what can we do to protect our students from cyberbullying at school
Discussing current resources available to students of cyberbullying and the possible effects on their mental health
Stating the consequences for said behaviors sharing inappropriate content on devices shared with other classmates insinuating cyber bullying
and even making cutting roles in the workforce
This is Big yes for students to have AI integrated into their education for student success after high school
We have an opportunity for innovation with AI applications that aid in organization
Applications that use avatars for online presentations and training could help our public forms and reports
and exact page content for increased public engagement and ease of sharing
We could drop extra steps that hinder teachers and staff’s public service
Currently the district does hold public forms
and power school for teacher contact and review
Our student families could receive help from more constancy in monthly or quarterly presentations geared towards specific resources
and Community Collaboration geared towards student success
As they say knowledge is power so we better get reading
reading content can look different for every student with their age
What may engage one group of students could lack enthusiasm and creativity to boost necessary reading skills for others
Our students need more options when it comes to reading curriculum with different content and plots
creating disengaged readers who cannot connect with older context
We must monitor our population sizes for areas that district 308 serves
and the driving factors for new developments
Having a new established apprenticeship program for teachers for growth and opportunities within will help aide in teacher retention
We could bridge more staffing issues at 308 by creating more internships
and mentorship opportunities to increase workplace engagement opportunities for students at SD 308
I do see a need for increased mental health services for educators as they support our students for their future

Iowa's Ava Heiden speaks with reporters on July 16
Iowa Freshman Center from Oregon Fitting into New Environment
Ava Heiden has learned to appreciate a lot of things about Iowa
ranging from the hospitality to thunderstorms
Iowa’s 6-foot-4 freshman center has come a long way to experience things — it’s a little more than 1,900 miles from Sherwood
Oregon to Iowa City — and she’s experienced plenty since arriving on campus
“Everyone here is super nice,” she said last week
“That’s one thing I noticed coming from the West Coast
let me hold the door for you.’ They’re nice (on the West Coast)
Heiden got to experience a powerful one last Monday when a big line of storms passed through the eastern part of the state
“It’s like a running joke among the freshmen
Heiden recalled when on a trip with her club team to Louisville
“And I was just sitting there in my hotel room watching it
“So last night I was just sitting in my dorm room
and I just sat there and watched the rain,” Heiden said
She has one wish when it comes to her love of stormy weather
“At the end of my four years,” Heiden said
a whirlwind since Heiden has joined the Hawkeyes for summer workouts
Heiden has gotten an education into the Hawkeyes’ style of play under new head coach Jan Jensen
we played a very similar transition offense
There’s little things here I have to tweak
but there are some things I have to switch around a little bit
One of the reasons why Heiden came to Iowa was because of Jensen’s reputation as a coach of post players. Heiden, ranked the No. 36 prospect in the nation by ESPN.com
averaged 17.2 points and 11.3 rebounds in high school
but she felt she could learn a lot from Jensen
Heiden remembered the recruiting call from Jensen and then-head coach Lisa Bluder
“(Jensen) and Coach Bluder wanted to talk to my parents and I was like
that’s cool.’ They wanted to get to know me
and it made me feel like family was a big part here.”
It’s why Heiden stuck with her commitment in May when Bluder announced her retirement and Jensen was promoted to head coach
“If there was anyone I wanted to fit in (Bluder’s) place
For all the hospitality and lightning and thunder and all
“I was open to everywhere,” Heiden said of the recruiting process
They’re not the type of family to hold back
The people here became near and dear to my heart
The Hawkeyes do play at Oregon this season
and Heiden plans on hitting up all of her teammates for tickets
She also plans on being a key part of Iowa’s rotation in the frontcourt
“But I want to serve the team the best I can
Coach J is the best — she’ll put me in the role she sees fit

The story this week in Indianapolis is all about redemption
and freshman Ava Heiden gets back in the box score
She played just 21 minutes in the month of February
but in the 11 she played against Michigan State
she may have just saved the Hawkeyes’ season
and an invaluable spark to move on in the Big Ten Tournament
“I think every freshman goes through this,” Heiden said
“It’s definitely a rollercoaster
and going from being the best player in high school to everyone around me is great
So learning to navigate that and then just putting the work in every day
so that I can create that separation for myself.”
and I’d always put the challenges ahead of her … She’s been working very much harder since the Big Ten started
I felt like I would be comfortable to give her a shot
and I’m so thrilled that she was able to answer like she did.”
“I think she was tremendous tonight,” Hannah Stuelke said
and I think that’s really special for her growth
and really beneficial for her mindset.”

Ben Johnson raided the Detroit Lions coaching staff for two assistants when he left for the Chicago Bears
and now Aaron Glenn is taking at least one of his former colleagues with him to the New York Jets
The Jets hired Lions tight ends coach Steve Heiden as their new offensive line coach Wednesday, NFL Network reported. Glenn left his post as Lions defensive coordinator to become Jets head coach last week
Heiden spent the past two years coaching tight ends with the Lions after working in a variety of roles for a decade with the Arizona Cardinals
He is the sixth Lions assistant to leave for a job with another team this offseason
Lions passing game coordinator Tanner Engstrand also is a candidate to be Jets offensive coordinator
Lions general manager Brad Holmes spoke last week at his end-of-season news conference of how difficult it would be for the Lions to keep assistants who had a chance for advancement this offseason
"It’s obviously a challenge cause you always — you want to keep the good ones
and guys that you’ve gotten comfortable with and proved that they fit here," Holmes said
"But it’s the nature of this business and it’s something that you just have to expect
So I’ve always said it’s hard to keep the good ones
but I understand that when guys want to poach guys from our program

Raegan Beers leads Oklahoma with a dominant performance in the paint
NORMAN, Okla. — As the Iowa Hawkeyes filed into the press conference room at Lloyd Noble Center, freshman forward Ava Heiden caught a glimpse of the placard marking her spot

it also featured a March Madness logo but no specific first round branding

Heiden turned to coach Jan Jensen as she made her way around the table and asked if she could keep it
following the best game of young career which also happened to come in her first postseason appearance
Jensen smiled and asked Heiden if she could wait a little longer to take it home
Heiden came in off the bench with junior forward Hannah Stuelke in foul trouble and scored a team-high 15 points to lead Iowa to a 92-57 victory against Murray State
It was a career high and marked her third consecutive game in double figures
“I think that just over the past few months I’ve … put in a lot
and that has helped me get to the competence level and skill level to be able to come into games like this and perform well,” Heiden told reporters after the game

she picked up another at the 8:13 mark with her team trailing 6-2
What felt like an early warning sign turned out to be a sort of bat signal to Heiden
“This is the first time Ava and company — the young kids — have been on the biggest stage,” Jensen said
“… We challenged her and she really answered it.”
Stuelke did return after halftime and scored 11 points
She went 5-for-6 from the floor in 25 minutes with six rebounds
Iowa ultimately had five players in double figures with a double-double from Lucy Olsen
and closed out the Racers’ season in dominant fashion
“It’s really special to be in the NCAA Tournament
and we’ve just had so many people step up at different times this year
and I get to sit up here with the future,” Jensen said referring to Heiden and Stremlow
but not without one more question about the name plates.
Tournament organizers are going to have to hold onto those for at least another round
One of the only downsides to a dominant Saturday showing

Although her day was cut short by a third-quarter ankle injury, Katelyn Young carved her name into Murray State history long before Saturday’s NCAA Tournament opener
you’ve given this program everything,’” coach Rechelle Turner told reporters after the game
she really changed the projection of this program and she stuck with us when it was hard.”
“I’ve had great years here,” Young said
and I’m glad I went out on this year
She finished her career as the active NCAA Division I women’s basketball scoring leader with 3,029 points. That also lands her in the Top 15 all-time.
“Just an exceptional career for an exceptional young woman,” Turner said.
Oklahoma forward Raegan Beers gave Florida Gulf Coast fits for every one of the 28-plus minutes she played on Saturday
Whether she was scoring one of her game-high 25 points or pulling down one of her 18 rebounds
Beers certainly looked like she was made for the moment in Oklahoma’s 81-58 victory against Florida Gulf Coast
Beers was especially effective in the fourth quarter with a personal 7-0 run that finally put the game out of reach after the Eagles cut the lead to 10 points.
“I don’t even know if she was just huge in that run — I think she was huge in that whole game,” coach Jennie Baranczyk said
“I think she just kept us steady the whole game
The Sooners also crashed the boards together, setting a new NCAA Tournament record with 72
One-third of those came on offense where Oklahoma was able to convert 27 second-chance points.
we knew we had to pull away and the stretch where it was close … we kept pouring into each other,” Beers said.

shuffled some papers and addressed the U.S
speed skating community at an awards ceremony
were there any doubters last year that we weren’t going to be up here again with Jordan Stolz
drawing laughter from a group that collectively may have harbored zero doubt
“After watching what Jordan accomplished last season
arguably the greatest speed skater in history
spent the next 70 seconds listing his fellow Wisconsinite Stolz’s accomplishments in the 2023-24 campaign
They included: a world record in the 1000m; world titles in the 500m
1000m and 1500m for a second time and the world allround title
one of the most storied crowns in global sport awarded since 1893
became the youngest world allround champion — combining results from the 500m through the 10,000m — since Heiden claimed the second of his three consecutive titles in 1978
Speedskating’s Eric Heiden Award for excellence for a second year in a row
we’re seeing something special,” Heiden concluded before cueing a three-minute highlight video
“I think we’re going to be here multiple times handing out this award
Stolz is shaping up to be a main character for the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics
He could compete in up to five events over an 11-day stretch
He could become the second American to earn three gold medals at a single Winter Olympics
who won all five men’s speed skating events at the 1980 Lake Placid Games
It may be the greatest singular accomplishment in Winter Olympic history
Stolz has drawn comparisons to Heiden since before the 2022 Winter Games
Stolz went into those 2022 Beijing Games already the American record holder in the 500m
National media began storytelling about the kid from Kewaskum who watched short track star Apolo Ohno on TV during the 2010 Olympics
then began skating on the pond behind his family’s house
Coach Bob Corby said they hoped he could place in the top six in the 500m and the 1000m at his first Olympics
“So it was a little bit disappointing for him
and that left a bad taste in his mouth with Beijing,” Corby said
The Milwaukee-based Corby trained with Heiden in the 1970s
painted the Heiden family home for a summer job and coached the national team during the 1984 Olympic cycle (after Heiden switched from skating to cycling)
Corby stopped full-time coaching in 1984 but stayed in touch with the sport as a physical therapist
“It was kind of hard to turn down a 14-year-old
calls you on the phone and asks you to coach him,” Corby said
Corby previously coached Dan Jansen and Bonnie Blair
who went on to become Olympic champion sprinters
1988 and 1992 who lowered the 500m world record and once had the fastest unofficial 1000m time in history
“There’s been things during summer training
bike riding and weightlifting and things like that
“and certainly things on the ice that he does.”
Corby and Stolz didn’t make major changes to the training plan
But something clearly clicked over that offseason
In his first international race of the 2022-23 season
Stolz became the youngest man to win an individual World Cup
he won by 1.76 seconds -- greater than the margin separating second place from 16th place
an event he didn’t even enter at the 2022 Olympic Trials
“That’s when the sky became the limit,” Corby said
“That’s when we started planning for bigger and better things.”
He competed at the World Single Distances Championships inside Thialf
the Madison Square Garden of speed skating
He became the youngest gold medalist in the competition’s history (since 1996)
He became the first man to win three individual gold medals in one edition
Stolz’s arrival was heralded by the Dutch. In one race, a commentator for NOS, the national broadcaster, frenziedly called him “straaljager,” or fighter jet. De Telegraaf, the country’s largest newspaper, used “wonderkind” to start one headline. A fan gave him a personalized pair of clogs
and everyone’s looking at me,” Stolz said of being in the Netherlands in a familiar refrain for American speed skaters over the decades
Stolz spent additional time in the Netherlands after the 2022-23 season
He signed with the Dutch club team Zaanlander
though he has remained primarily based in Wisconsin with Corby
He took his offseason passion for cycling to Europe
scaling the famed Stelvio mountain pass in Italy in about 78 minutes in September 2023
“I had a headwind on the only somewhat flat part,” he said
“I think I was really in shape after that.”
Stolz skated the two fastest 1500m sea-level times in history at his home oval in Milwaukee
Most of the fastest times overall are set in the thinner air of high-altitude venues
so separate lists are compiled for lower elevations
he took aim at the world allround championships
an event usually won by a distance skater combining results from a 500m
Stolz knocked off three-time champ Patrick Roest of the Netherlands to win that title in Inzell
Stolz and Heiden are the only men since World War II to win an Olympic or world 500m title and a world allround title
Corby remembered several hundred people chanting Stolz’s name outside of their hotel
the 74-year-old coach woke up before dawn to travel separately to the Munich airport
Corby stepped out of his room with his luggage
He noticed a light underneath the door of Stolz’s room
Are you going to go to sleep?” Corby asked
I’m the world allround champion,” Stolz replied
“Which was pretty out of character,” a laughing Corby said later
Corby guessed that Stolz celebrated his 20th birthday on May 21 with a six-hour bike ride and a big steak
Then he went back to Kewaskum. Dutch media met him at a Dairy Queen for a profile
This fall, Stolz opened the season with victories in his first eight races over two World Cup stops. His winning streaks dating to last winter are historic
The circuit picks back up in Calgary in late January
then in Milwaukee the first weekend of February
Stolz noted that Calgary is where he skated the second-fastest 500m time in history last February
He missed the world record by eight hundredths
“If I’m doing a little bit better in the 500m this year
Stolz added 15 pounds on his 6-foot-1 frame since the 2022 Olympics
“I just started to kind of grow up on the ice,” he said
Stolz met Heiden for the first time when he received the Eric Heiden Award in 2023
“He congratulated me on the races,” Stolz said
“and then I think I started asking him about his training.”
Stolz has shared the joke that he told upon receiving the Heiden Award this past May — a few days before consuming that 55-ounce birthday steak
“I have something (Heiden) doesn’t have,” Stolz said
IOWA CITY — After graduating such a pivotal senior class that redefined expectations for Iowa women's basketball, the Hawkeyes needed a youth injection to set the stage for another successful wave
Iowa's 2024 recruiting class has filled that exact void while offering plenty of promise for what lies ahead. The Hawkeyes' five true freshmen — Ava Heiden
Aaliyah Guyton and Callie Levin — all could make significant impacts in the season ahead
Although Jan Jensen's first offseason as head coach featured several near-misses before finally landing 2025 commit Layla Hays
Jensen's initial recruiting victory came by keeping her five freshmen on board following Lisa Bluder's retirement in May
Even that close to their first collegiate preseason
any of the five could've bounced without penalty thanks to the coaching change
With the Hawkeyes' season opener versus Northern Illinois coming up on Nov
here's how all five Iowa freshmen could make an impact this year and what's stood out as they ease into Year 1 in the program
The general consensus entering this year was Heiden had the clearest path to playing time of the five
Considering Jensen used part of media day to emphasize how Heiden has "separated herself" among Iowa's crowded frontcourt options
it wouldn't be shocking to see Heiden in the starting lineup in the season opener against the Huskies
The 6-foot-4 center established at the "5" position would open up versatility for junior Hannah Stuelke to move between both frontcourt positions
Another move involving Heiden should help her freshman transition
sitting roughly 1,900 miles away from Carver-Hawkeye Arena
Heiden's parents and younger sister decided to move to Iowa City ahead of this season
Heiden's dad is from Iowa — her mom from Michigan — so the family isn't complete Midwest strangers
And they also did a cost analysis of how much it would take to come out here and watch some games
'It might be more beneficial if we move out there.'"
As much as college freshmen are often seeking parental independence
having familiar faces around while being so far from home is bound to pay off for Heiden in some way
A trip back home is built into the schedule too
with Iowa scheduled to play at Oregon on Jan
The ticket requests are already pouring in
"Hopefully I can leach off the rest of the players," Heiden said with a laugh
"'Can I have your tickets please?' I have a lot of people.'"
and the positive impact it can have on everyone around you
became a staple of Caitlin Clark's collegiate years
And while dishing out any kind of Clark comparisons must be done cautiously to avoid exaggeration and embellishment
Stremlow's knack for simply attacking the game of basketball has Clark elements weaved in
She's not afraid to take a chance on a pass
"Thankfully we're used to that with Caitlin
so when she's trying to whip it from a long way away
"But what I like about that is she sees the court
What's important about that for freshmen is a lot of times they're just so worried about learning it and doing it perfectly
so I'm going to try it.' That's really important
to becoming all that you can be when you're not so worried about making a mistake."
Backup point guard behind Lucy Olsen remains a work in progress
especially with freshman Aaliyah Guyton still working back from ACL surgery
Stremlow will be in the mix there and potentially elsewhere if her practice highlights immediately transfer to the game floor
"Taylor is crafty as heck," teammate Kylie Feuerbach said
Versatile Teagan Mallegni trending upward with opportunity in abundance for HawkeyesIt'll likely be a collaborative effort to counter senior Sydney Affolter's early absence as she recovers from minor offseason knee surgery
Mallegni could see her role increase the most as a result
"The versatility of Teagan Mallegni," Jensen said
So she's been doing a lot of great things for us."
While size that can shoot is coveted by just about every program
that combination fits perfectly in an Iowa system that thrives on downtown action and exploiting mismatches
Whether it's interior players out-sprinting opponents back down the floor or forcing perimeter defense from those not as used to it
the Hawkeyes can use Mallegni's attributes in a variety of ways
That's especially important on this year's squad that graduated almost all of its top outside shooters
Aaliyah Guyton ready to get back after difficult offseasonA torn ACL suffered in late December has put Guyton's patience and perseverance under the microscope
Guyton has embraced the significance of conquering this grueling recovery
"I've been tested for all nine months," Guyton said
but I feel like God does everything for a reason
which does make it tough to outline expectations in Year 1
Guyton will likely slide into the backup point-guard role whenever she is fully cleared
her vibrant personality and impressive dance moves will help keep the locker room light
Iowa's latest wave of energy and exuberanceSpeaking of energetic personalities
there is no shortage of them with this freshman class
it is 7:30 in the morning and these three want to have a full-on conversation at maximum volume," teammate Taylor McCabe said
We got to calm this down.' There's just such a fun energy with them."
making sure to drag out the "really" for added emphasis
it'll be 8 in the morning and she walks into the locker room
Among all the cliches Iowa women's basketball has hammered home during its spotlight run
the importance placed on team cohesion and a welcoming culture isn't just lip service
Those who embrace that even if the minutes aren't coming will always be valued in the Iowa program
How much Levin plays this year remains to be seen
Jensen said she's mainly helped with backup point-guard duties given that Iowa is so thin there
it's clear Levin's exuberant demeanor will benefit the Hawkeyes this season
The Detroit Lions coaching staff departures continue
as an offensive coach leaves to join Aaron Glenn and the Jets
The Detroit Lions will have another coach on the offensive staff to replace this season. As first reported by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the New York Jets are hiring Lions tight ends coach Steven Heiden to be their next offensive line coach
“Coach Heiden has done a phenomenal job getting those guys ready
particularly a young player like LaPorta,” Lions coach Dan Campbell said of Heiden back in 2023
LaPorta set the NFL record for most receptions by a tight end in their first two seasons (146)
Heiden will join former Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn with the Jets, as he continues to build out his staff. Reportedly, that staff may also include Lions pass game coordinator Tanner Engstrand, who is believed to be the top candidate to fill New York’s offensive coordinator position
It’s been a huge offseason of attrition for the Lions’ coaching staff
Here are all the coaches who have departed or the Lions have parted ways with
You can track all of the Lions’ latest coach news and rumors with our 2025 tracker.
After the game, we caught up with Ava Heiden and Taylor Stremlow to discuss their contributions to the victory, how the team was able to navigate the early game foul frustrations and how satisfying it was to be the ones to step up in this moment.
