Agnes Ngetich became the first athlete to break 30 minutes in a women-only 10km, smashing through that barrier with 29:27 at the Adizero Road To Records event in Herzogenaurach on Saturday (26).
The 24-year-old Kenyan, who already held the world record for 10km in a mixed race (28:46), was in dominant form, winning by more than a minute. After just five minutes, she had already stretched out the field and started to open up a comfortable lead.
Following her swift opening pace for the first two kilometres, Ngetich settled into a 2:57/km rhythm for the next three kilometres, reaching half way in 14:37 and putting her well on course to break the world record of 30:01 held by the late Agnes Jebet Tirop.
Ngetich’s pace dropped slightly in the second half, but she still managed to cover each remaining kilometre inside 3:00. Now well ahead of her nearest opponents, Ngetich charged through the finish line in 29:27, having covered the second half in 14:50.
“I’m so excited, I didn’t expect this,” she said. “Last year I missed it by two seconds, so I wanted to come here today and try for it again. I’m so proud of myself. After missing out on the Olympics last year, I want to make up for it this year at the World Championships.”
Elsewhere in Herzogenaurach, Olympic 800m champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi produced a storming finish in the men’s mile to beat a high-quality field in a Kenyan record of 3:52.45, putting him third on the world all-time list. World road mile champion Hobbs Kessler was second in a PB of 3:54.34, just ahead of US compatriot Nico Young (3:54.50).
Yomif Kejelcha came within five seconds of the world record to win the men’s 5km in 12:54. The Ethiopian, who had won the 5km here in 2022 and 2024, was just one second shy of his race record, but still a convincing winner, finishing nine seconds ahead of Andrew Alamisi.
Fellow Ethiopian Medina Eisa also notched up her third 5km victory in Herzogenaurach, taking the women’s race in 14:48 in a close finish from compatriots Fotyen Tesfay (14:50) and Gela Hambese (14:51).
There was another repeat winner in the women’s mile as Nelly Chepchirchir successfully defended her title in 4:23. The Kenyan, who finished just outside of the medals in this event at the 2023 World Road Running Championships, took seven seconds off the PB she set here last year.

Danny MacAskill got the keys to the adidas global HQ in Herzogenaurach
Germany and used it as a canvas for his creative approach to riding
Danny has been with adidas for over 10 years and has been plotting how to best take advantage of its unique features in the numerous trips he has made to the head office for team meeting and product testing
“The first time I got the invite to campus I immediately started riding the place in my mind
As soon as you see that kind of big overhanging piece of architecture or whatever
you immediately imagine the different things you could do up there
it was cool to finally get to come here to actually do it.” – Danny MacAskill
The distinct structure Danny rides at the end of the video is called The HALFTIME building and was designed by the architecture firm COBE out of Denmark. The building’s roof is a 8,650-square-meter rhomboid roof constructed of V-shaped concrete beams covered in glass. One third of the roof is covered in skylights providing abundant natural light to the expansive interior. Really neat building, LEARN MORE HERE

2024 was a year of superlatives for Adidas
The world's second-largest sporting goods manufacturer has made an impressive comeback: sales climbed by 12 percent to 23,7 billion euros
operating profit increased fivefold to 1,34 billion euros
Sneaker bestsellers such as the Samba and Gazelle fueled demand
sports partnerships with young stars such as Lamine Yamal and Travis Hunter attracted attention - and with Liverpool FC
Adidas secured one of the most prestigious football clubs in the world as its outfitter from the summer
In the spotlight of success is Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden
who has radically transformed the three-stripe brand since moving from Puma in 2023
placed more emphasis on sports and athletes instead of just returns and controlling
and cultivated an approachable leadership style
Product hype and sports testimonials instead of consultant presentations - that was the new motto
The sneaker boom in particular helped Adidas to become cool again
Gazelle and Campus have long been streetwear favorites
which made Adidas more desirable again overall
Gulden is criticized for having tailored Adidas too much to itself
less predictable - there is no clear strategy for the next few years
Unlike his predecessors Kasper Rorsted and Herbert Hainer
Gulden does not have five-year plans and instead relies on flexible
His philosophy: the local markets know better what is in demand than the headquarters in Herzogenaurach
This decentralization has consequences: Up to 500 jobs are to be cut at headquarters - a massive reduction that Gulden justifies with the reduction of complexity
China and Europe are being given more freedom to make decisions
The fact that Adidas needs to become more efficient and leaner is also due to its ambitious profitability targets: Gulden wants to achieve an operating margin of 2026 percent by 10 - it is currently at 5,6 percent
While Adidas is on the road to success operationally
a crisis is simmering in the background on the supervisory board
Chairman Thomas Rabe wants to step down but has not yet found a successor
he is likely to stand for re-election at the annual general meeting in May - but again only for one year
which is making investors increasingly nervous
more flexibility - fits well in today's volatile world
But critics warn that Adidas could become too dependent on a single person
is already struggling with the long-term effects of his predecessor at Puma
Freundt recently complained that Puma had grown quickly under Gulden
Adidas also owes a significant part of its current success to the weakness of its big rival Nike
The US brand is struggling with falling sales and market share
Nike remains dominant in North America - but Adidas wants to be number one in all other regions
Adidas has once again set itself ambitious goals for 2025: sales growth in the high single-digit percentage range
an operating profit of up to 1,8 billion euros - and all this in a year without major sporting events
Gulden is deliberately dampening expectations in order to shine later with forecast increases - a tactic that is well received by investors
for a pre-season training camp between 15-20 July
Eddie Howe's squad will train and stay at the purpose-built 'adidas HomeGround' facility on site in rural Bavaria
which was used exclusively by the German national team throughout UEFA Euro 2024 this summer
HomeGround was devised and fine-tuned by adidas alongside the German federation
it forms part of a hugely impressive campus that is home to almost 5,000 adidas employees
The invitation extended to Newcastle United by adidas follows the highly-anticipated reunion between the club and the global sportswear brand this summer
with adidas becoming the club’s official kit partner on a multi-year deal
Eddie Howe said: "We are very much looking forward to visiting adidas and to training at such an outstanding facility
and it includes everything we need to maximise the players' preparations
"The site will be a home away from home for us during a key period
and I'd like to thank adidas for extending their kind invitation to us."
said: "We are thrilled to be partnering with adidas once again
HomeGround is just another example of the brand's commitment to excellence and it demonstrates just how much adidas understands team performance in all that it does
"I'd like to extend my thanks to our colleagues and friends at adidas for inviting the club to spend time with them
HomeGround is a world-class facility for our players and staff to utilise
and we look forward to strengthening our bond with adidas during our time in Germany."

the Kenyan 19-year-old improved the previous world record of 3:56.13 set by USA’s Hobbs Kessler at the World Athletics Road Running Championships Riga 23 in October
despite celebrating on his way to the tape
chasing Wanyonyi over the finish line in 3:56.18

who beat Wanyonyi to the world title in Budapest last year
Kenya’s Nelly Chepchirchir topped the women’s mile in 4:30.93.
Kenya's Agnes Ngetich almost added the women-only world record to the world 10km record of 28:46 she set in a mixed race in Valencia in January

Schaeffler has opened a new technology centre for materials science and engineering at its headquarters in Herzogenaurach
the supplier aims to bring innovative solutions in the eMobility
battery and hydrogen sectors to series maturity
covers more than 18,000 square metres of gross floor space at Schaeffler’s headquarters in Central Franconia and “brings together core areas of expertise in materials science and materials engineering,” according to the supplier
The building was completed on schedule in two years and five months and offers space for around 340 employees
the centre comprises 15 laboratories in the fields of measurement
testing and calibration technology as well as materials
Schaeffler plans to use the centre to advance solutions for the energy and mobility transition in particular
The company cites innovative coatings for solid-state batteries or hydrogen bipolar plates as examples
an EMC laboratory makes it possible to test the electromagnetic compatibility of electronic components
such as the company’s own power electronics
Chief Research and Development Officer at Schaeffler AG
commented: “Innovative materials are extremely important for sustainable solutions in the field of motion technologies
The technology center in Herzogenaurach will set benchmarks and strengthen our global R&D network in the long term.”
The new technology centre also includes the so-called ‘Motion Hub’
an independent area to demonstrate to customers
suppliers and employees the realigned range of products and services resulting from the acquisition of Vitesco Technologies
Schaeffler successfully completed the acquisition of the drive specialist at the beginning of October
The integration of Vitesco is accompanied by a reorganisation of business activities into four divisions: E-Mobility
Vehicle Lifetime Solutions and Bearings & Industrial Solutions
the Schaeffler Group is dividing its business into four regions – Europe
Greater China and Asia/Pacific – which will continue to operate as before
“Despite the challenging environment, the complex transaction was successfully completed according to plan in less than a year. This proves that the two companies are not just a technological but also a cultural match,” said Klaus Rosenfeld, CEO of Schaeffler, at the beginning of October
The company assumes that the merger will lead to sales and cost synergies with an impact on earnings totalling 600 million euros per year
this also means that jobs will be cut – in the previously separate structures

When Puma announced on Thursday that former Adidas sales chief Arthur Hoeld would become its new CEO, replacing Arne Freundt over “differing views on strategy execution,” it wasn’t just a routine leadership shake-up.
The move added another chapter to one of the most iconic rivalries in corporate history: Puma versus Adidas.
That rivalry, marked by talent swaps and strategic one-upmanship, had also seen a dramatic turn in 2022 when Puma hired Bjørn Gulden, who had been a senior vice president of apparel and accessories at Adidas in the 1990s, to lead the company as its CEO.
But beneath these boardroom moves lies a far older and more personal story—one that began with a bitter sibling split in a small German town and evolved to become one of the most legendary feuds in global sportswear.
Adidas and Puma, two of the world’s largest sportswear giants, owe their origins not just to ambition and innovation, but to a bitter rift between two German brothers — Adolf and Rudolf Dassler.
The story begins in the 1920s in Herzogenaurach, a town of just over 20,000 people nestled in Germany’s Franconia region.
The Dassler brothers ran a shoe company together — Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik (Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory) — operating out of their mother’s laundry room.
Adolf, known as “Adi,” was the quiet craftsman, focused on design and detail. Rudolf, or “Rudi,” was the extrovert and the salesman, charismatic and bold.
The pair found early success, most famously when American sprinter Jesse Owens wore their shoes to win four gold medals at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
But the business — and their relationship — began to unravel during World War II.
Misunderstandings, personal grudges, and political tension turned into open hostility
The exact trigger for the rift between the Dassler brothers remains disputed.
Local records merely refer to “internal family difficulties,” but the most widely circulated story is that Rudi—often described as the more charismatic of the two—had an affair with Adi’s wife, Käthe, a betrayal that permanently severed the brothers’ bond.
Other theories have also emerged over the years.
Some revolve around tensions over their political affiliations—both brothers joined the Nazi Party in 1933—and debates over who could claim credit for inventing the revolutionary screw-in football studs that helped West Germany clinch the 1954 World Cup on a rain-soaked pitch in Berne.
One particularly infamous episode dates back to 1943, during an Allied bombing raid over Herzogenaurach.
According to reports, Adi and Käthe rushed into an air raid shelter already occupied by Rudi and his family.
Upon seeing them, Rudi allegedly muttered, “The Schweinhunde (pig dogs) are back.”
Rudi later claimed he had been referring to the RAF bombers, but Adi was unconvinced—another slight that deepened their already fractured relationship.
By 1948, the brothers had gone their separate ways, and Herzogenaurach was never the same again.
Rudolf set up his own company on one side of the Aurach River and called it Puma.
Adi remained on the other side and registered his company as Adidas, a portmanteau of his first and last names.
It is here that the headquarters of these two giants stand even today, barely a couple of miles apart.
What followed was not just a corporate rivalry, but a town-wide schism.
Herzogenaurach became known as “the town of bent necks,” because locals would first look down at your shoes before deciding whether to speak to you.
“The split between the Dassler brothers was to Herzogenaurach what the building of the Berlin Wall was for the German capital,” local journalist Rolf-Herbert Peters said in a Guardian report of 2009.
Marriages between employees of Adidas and Puma were discouraged.
Each factory had its own football club, barber, and pub — even churches and bakeries aligned with one side or the other.
“Even religion and politics were part of the heady mix. Puma was seen as Catholic and politically conservative, Adidas as Protestant and Social Democratic,” said Klaus-Peter Gäbelein of the local Heritage Association in the report.
Even in death, the divide persisted: the Dassler brothers are buried in the same cemetery, but at opposite ends.
From the Cold War on cleats to modern brand warfare
The Adidas-Puma rivalry has evolved from personal vengeance to boardroom competition.
For decades, both brands fought for supremacy in football sponsorships, athlete endorsements, and Olympic moments.
Adidas signed stars like Franz Beckenbauer and David Beckham, while Puma snapped up Pelé, Usain Bolt, and most recently, Neymar Jr.
The brands’ differing identities also became part of their competitive edge.
Adidas leaned into innovation, performance, and heritage. Puma took a more youthful, fashion-forward route, collaborating with artists like Rihanna and designers like Alexander McQueen.
Despite the intensity, modern leadership at both companies has attempted to thaw relations.
In 2009, employees from both firms played a symbolic football match to promote peace and reconciliation. But in the marketplace, the fight remains fierce.
Today, Adidas and Puma collectively generate billions in revenue, competing globally with the likes of Nike and Under Armour.
Yet in Herzogenaurach, the rift still echoes. Locals still joke that the easiest way to offend someone is to wear the wrong shoes.

Company NewsAdidas Headquarters Raided in Years-Long Tax InvestigationBy Kim Bhasin and Eyk HenningPublished: December 10, 2024 at 3:17PM EST
(Bloomberg) -- German authorities raided Adidas AG headquarters on Tuesday as part of a years-long tax investigation.
The probe is looking at a five-year period starting in October 2019 and pertains to customs and tax regulations for products imported into Germany, an Adidas representative said in a statement. The stock fell as much as 2.1% in early Frankfurt trading.
The sportswear company’s headquarters in Herzogenaurach and other offices were searched. Adidas said it has been in contact with customs authorities for several years about the matter and is providing them with documents and information.
The situation threatens to become another blow for Adidas, which has faced repeated crises in recent years, including consumer boycotts and a significant hit to sales after severing ties with the rapper Ye and the Yeezy franchise.
Adidas has performed well under Chief Executive Officer Bjorn Gulden, raising its annual profit target in October for the third straight quarter amid a boom for retro sneakers like the Samba.
“The company does not expect any significant financial impact in connection with the investigation,” Adidas said.
The tax issues could lead to “minor one-off burdens” in the current fiscal year but shouldn’t change the company’s underlying potential, Volker Bosse, an analyst at Baader Bank, said in an email. Bosse confirmed his buy rating and target price for Adidas’s shares.
CEO Gulden has slimmed the company’s management ranks, taking on the job of overseeing the brand and giving some of the responsibility for managing global operations to Harm Ohlmeyer, his chief financial officer. Ohlmeyer is a 26-year Adidas veteran who’s been CFO since 2017, the entire time of the investigation.
Adidas is working with customs authorities to “clarify issues arising from different interpretations of German and European law,” it said.
The raid was first reported by Germany’s Manager Magazine.

[Excited][Founders with brand name -48] Adolf Dasler
a young shoe maker was making a piece of old sewing machines and some tools
His goal is to make innovative sneakers that can perform at their best
His efforts led to the founding of a sneaker brand
won four gold medals at the 1936 Berlin Olympics in his country
It was a moment when he proved that his shoes could be an innovative tool to improve performance
The great founder who remains the brand of the day is still Nike's biggest rival and the founder of Germany's leading sports brand
His father was a sewing engineer at a shoe factory and his mother ran a laundry shop
was a handmade shoe craftsman who was well versed in the art of making shoes
the shoe industry in Germany was on the decline
he always participated in various sports activities such as soccer and track and field
He loved the joy and sense of accomplishment he felt while working out
which inspired him to make sports shoes later on
He always dreamed of making shoes that would give him the best performance
He naturally learned shoe-making skills by playing with various tools and materials at his parents' shoe factory
Adi ran to the factory and helped her father make shoes
He learned the basics of shoe making from his father and experimented with his ideas based on them
The two brothers spent a lot of time together and enjoyed various activities
Rudolph was a strong older brother who understood and supported Adi's ideas and passion
she was constantly trying to make better shoes
He often worked out with his friends and tested his homemade shoes
I constantly studied which shoes are more comfortable and which shoes can run faster
This effort and enthusiasm later became a great foundation for his innovation in sneaker production
immersed himself in making sneakers in his mother's laundry room
We set a goal to make functional sneakers that can improve athletic performance while being durable that does not wear off easily
he and his brother Rudolf Dassler founded the 'Gebruder Dassler Schuhfabrik'
took 50 pairs of sneakers every day and produced them hand-made
Adolf has always sought perfection in the making of sneakers
He carried a scale to make lighter shoes and searched for various fabrics
He met with players and trainers in person to test the performance of his shoes and improve them with feedback
he developed sneakers that used soft and lightweight rubber fabrics instead of hard leather
These rubber sneakers then become the prototype of the Adidas sneakers
his credo (Only The Best For The Athlete) to make and provide the best products has established itself as an Adidas brand philosophy
Adolf developed running shoes with spikes and soccer shoes with leather gongs
These shoes led to good results straight from the track and field
Lina Radke started to gain attention by wearing those spike sneakers and winning the gold medal in the women's 800m race as a world record
Arthur Jonas wore the shoes and won the bronze medal in the 100m track and field
and the shoes made by the Dasler brothers began to be recognized for their skills
most of the German national team players were wearing sneakers made by these brothers
It was to show American track and field star Jesse Owens their sneakers
After nearly 10 hours of direct driving from Bavaria to Berlin
they manage to put the spike sneakers on his feet
And Jesse Owens became the best star of the Berlin Olympics by winning gold medals in a total of four events: the 100m
the Dasler brothers sold more than 200,000 pairs of sneakers each year
Problems occur before and after World War II
The relationship between his brother Adolf and his brother Rudolph began to fall apart
Adi and Rudolph had very different personalities
while Rudolph is an extrovert and sociable personality
This difference in personality has always been the seed of conflict in work style
And their brothers become Nazi members in 1933
who joined with the expectation that he would get help with his business
Rudolph became suspicious of Adolf's obscenity and accusation of him
the two brothers blame each other for the war crimes trial and cross the river that cannot be crossed
has raised concerns that it will lead to a complete collapse
it leads to the birth of two global sports brands
Adidas is the existing company that his younger brother Adolf has kept
and Rudolph is independent and the new brand is Puma
Rudolph first created the brand "Ruda," but soon changed it to "Puma," leading to great success
the conflict between the two brothers led to an opportunity to induce competition between companies and expand consumers' options
if the two brothers continued to work together
they might have formed a great empire beyond Nike
The separation of the Dasler brothers brought about a major shift in the sporting goods industry
continue to compete as global sports brands to this day
Their competition has spurred innovation and quality improvement
and has provided a wide range of options for sports lovers around the world
Adidas and Puma became independent of their respective brands and took an unrivaled position in the sporting goods market
The conflict and separation of the Dasler brothers is a sad story on the one hand
but it was an important historical event that resulted in the birth of two great brands
which showed unrivaled competitiveness in sports fields such as soccer and track and field until the 1960s
Nike's aggressive marketing strategy and innovative product launches have led Adidas to begin losing market share
in 1989 brought the owner management system to an end
Through several crises and failures since then
Adidas has changed and recently faces another situation
His passion for innovation and quality has been the driving force behind making Adidas the world's top sports brand
which began in Adolf 'Addy' Dasler's small laundry room
now remains a huge legend that inspires countless people around the world

The education plan includes reiterating the importance of the oceans for our planet as well as practical advice on waste avoidance
more than 100 children of adidas employees took part in a "Kids Camp" and tackled the topic of plastic waste in the oceans as well

adidas produced one million pairs of shoes; in 2018
eleven million pairs made with recycled plastic from the oceans are planned
the proportion of recycled materials in the entire product range is increasing

HERZOGENAURACH Germany (Reuters) - Adidas needs world-class designers
brand experts and technical whizzkids to improve its image against U.S
but persuading them to move to its headquarters in rural Germany is difficult
Adidas has been losing market share to the world's biggest sportswear brand Nike
which is seen as far cooler in consumer surveys and is based near the hip U.S
Adidas acknowledges it is hard to recruit at its headquarters near the Bavarian town of Herzogenaurach
where Under Armour <ua.n> has just overtaken it as No
Nike's better than expected earnings on Sept
Adidas is responding by locating some key design roles in the United States at the same time as investing heavily in new facilities at its home base near the historic Bavarian town where Adidas was founded by shoe maker Adi Dassler in 1949
"We need a lot of that top talent that is cutting edge
in marketing organizations or are coming from top competitors
We need an environment that appeals to them," said Steve Fogarty
who is responsible for employer branding and digital recruiting
"Designers tend to gravitate to very large
London and it is a bit harder to convince them to move to the center of Germany."
Gaudio announced on Wednesday that Adidas will open a small creative studio in New York's Brooklyn district in 2015 to be led by three young footwear designers he has poached from Nike with a mission to explore design direction for the brand
That will complement existing creative centers in Shanghai
but the vast majority of the company's hundreds of designers for football
training and running products remain based in Herzo
Adidas shares are down more than a third this year
most recently suffering from a third profit warning in a year in July that the firm blamed in part on a disappointing performance in North America
Adidas trades at 17 times expected earnings
at a discount to Nike's 22.5 times and fast-growing Under Armour's 58 times
Despite the new designers in the United States
long-serving Adidas Chief Executive Herbert Hainer
remains committed to the company's base in a region proud of its strong economy and companies including BMW
About 3,900 of the total Adidas staff of 52,500 work in and around Herzo
about a third of them from outside Germany
and Hainer said last month the company planned to add 100-150 new staff at its headquarters every year
While Bavaria has a reputation for beer festivals
Nike's home town of Portland is a city of 600,000 that prides itself on its liberal values and environmental awareness
as well as a proliferation of trendy eateries and microbreweries
Nike's location in the American northwest also raised questions in its early days in the 1960s
with founder and Oregon native Phil Knight saying everybody originally thought it should be located in New England or the South
But Portland has since become a magnet for the global footwear industry
helped by the relatively short hop to Asian production hubs and a youthful talent pool
prompting Adidas to move its North America headquarters there from New Jersey in 1993
is a town of just 24,000 people set in rolling fields
though many Adidas staff commute from the nearby university town of Erlangen or the city of Nuremberg
gingerbread and sausages but not for the most vibrant nightlife or fashion scene
Nuremberg has an airport with direct flights to many cities in Europe but not further afield and there is no train link to Herzo from Nuremberg or Erlangen
Herzo's biggest employer is family-owned Schaeffler
mostly in technical roles producing precision products for the auto and aerospace industry
It is also home to rival sportswear firm Puma <pumg.de>
Conscious that it was not the best location for a big global consumer brand
Adidas considered leaving Herzo in the 1990s when the company was trying to rebuild its fortunes after flirting with bankruptcy following the death of founder Dassler in 1978 and then his son Horst in 1987
troops from Germany at the end of the Cold War freed up the military base outside Herzo
local authorities persuaded Adidas to stay
It moved its headquarters to the base in 1998 from an overcrowded office in downtown Herzo and has been expanding the campus ever since
Herzogenaurach mayor German Hacker said surveys showed that foreign inhabitants particularly value the high quality of life and security that the town offers
"Herzogenaurach is a sheltered and manageable town
but you can get to big towns in 10-15 minutes if you want," he said
who declined to be named because they still work on a contract basis for Adidas
said they left the company because they found living in Bavaria too boring
"It is so odd that this company is in the middle of farmland
It doesn't have anything to do with style," the person said
who spent three years working in Herzo but moved back to Portland last year
says the vast majority of staff describe working in Germany as an amazing experience once they arrive
He set up a website to extol the virtues of Herzo
featuring employees from around the world praising the rural running tracks near the office
local beer festivals and the proximity to Alpine ski slopes
who often has to get up at the crack of dawn in Portland to speak to colleagues nine hours ahead in Herzo
said Adidas does not lose staff due to the location of its base as it is flexible about where people work
"While our headquarters is technically in Herzo
the opportunity to work in many locations is already here
so why invest in moving the headquarters?" he said
founded by Adi Dassler's brother Rudolf after the two split a joint business
shows the pitfalls of dispersing key staff
Puma had based its product management and design team for its lifestyle range in London to be closer to fashion trends
but decided last year to move the division to Herzo as it sought to centralize functions as part of a restructuring program
Puma is in the process of trying to reaffirm its sporting roots after sales tumbled in recent years
Puma had lost its reputation for sports performance gear by moving too far into the fashion business
Despite investing in fashion brands like NEO and Originals
Adidas has so far stayed true to its sporting heritage
Adidas recently announced plans to build two new buildings - with a capacity for 3,600 staff - at its "World of Sports" campus outside Herzo and is about to open a 16-metre-high climbing wall in the grounds
The Adidas campus already features sports fields and stylish buildings including a futuristic low-rise "brand center" clad in black glass that opened in 2006 and a marketing and operations office called "Laces" that opened in 2011 and features criss-crossing walkways above a light-filled atrium
"You can work in a dull office in the middle of Munich or an awesome office two hours north of Munich," said Christian Dzieia
An on-site fitness center with daily yoga and aerobics classes opened last year as well as a bilingual kindergarten for 110 children and a campus canteen revamped with input from German celebrity chef Holger Stromberg
"We're hiring a lot of people with a huge passion for sport whose eyes light up when they walk around the campus," said Fogarty
where you can walk onto this international campus with a lot of high-tech facilities and then go have lunch in a thousand-year-old Bavarian village."

Kenya’s Agnes Tirop took 28 seconds off the long-standing women-only world record for 10km
while Ethiopia’s Senbere Teferi set an outright world 5km record of 14:30 at the adizero Road To Records event in Herzogenaurach on Sunday
Tirop
put in a decisive surge with little more than two kilometres to go in the 10km
breaking away from fellow Kenyan Sheila Chepkirui before eventually winning in 30:01
Teferi
ran away from her opponents after the first kilometre with an incredible solo effort
Tirop and Chepkirui were part of a five-woman lead pack during the early stages of the 10km and passed through 4km in 12:07
Tirop and Chepkirui had broken away from the rest of their opponents
reaching the half-way point in 15:00 after coving the fifth kilometre in a swift 2:54
Chepkirui then moved in front of her compatriot and tried to force the pace but was unsuccessful in making a break
The duo continued to run side by side for the best part of three kilometres
but Tirop started her long run for home with about six minutes to go
who won the senior world cross-country title as a teenager back in 2015
passed through 9km in 27:07 with a comfortable lead and was still comfortably inside world record pace
She didn’t ease back for the final kilometre
and covered it in another 2:54 to reach the finish line in 30:01
also inside the previous mark of 30:29 set by Morocco’s Asmae Leghzaoui back in 2002
“I’m so happy to have broken the world record,” said Tirop
“I felt the pace was good and Sheila assisted me a lot
ensured the event ended on a high as she smashed the world 5km record with 14:29
winning by 25 seconds from Ethiopian teenager Melknat Wudu
Six weeks after her sixth-place finish over 5000m at the Olympic Games
Teferi ran with the pack for the first kilometre
sensing that the pace wasn’t quite fast enough to challenge the world record
set off on her own and covered the second kilometre in 2:49
Teferi had an eight-second lead over the chase pack
passing 4km in 12:07 and then ended with a 2:52 final kilometre to cross the finish line in 14:29
I knew I was ready to go after this world record
a double medallist at the World U20 Championships
In the day’s other races, world record-holder Rhonex Kipruto won the men’s 10km in 26:43
while recently crowned world U20 champion Tadese Worku was second in 26:56
Abel Kipchumba was a convincing winner of the men’s half marathon in 58:48 with fellow Kenyan Alexander Mutiso Munyao taking second in 59:20
and Brenda Jepleting added to the Kenyan success with a dominant 1:06:52 victory in the women’s race

said at the groundbreaking event in his hometown Herzogenaurach: “It’s a great honour for me to be involved in the groundbreaking ceremony today
My career is closely connected to PUMA and I am happy the company is staying true to my Franconian home of Herzogenaurach
I think that the designs for the offices and the ‘PUMA Bridge’ look good and I’m already excited to see what the wild cat’s new home will look like once construction has been completed.”

will include light-flooded open-plan offices with a floor-to-ceiling window front and will be able to be custom arranged for projects and work groups through mobile
several sports offers will underline PUMA’s guiding principles with the mission of being the fastest sports brand in the world
Not only a gym of roughly 500 square meters will be available for PUMA’s employees
but also a large exterior area with a volleyball and basketball court as well as an additional multifunctional area of 500 square meters
The new building will meet the same high environmental standards as the adjacent PUMAVision Headquarters
A modern concrete core temperature control will ensure sustainable heating and cooling in conjunction with air-water heat pumps

PUMA intends to provide charging stations for electric vehicles at the site
Ethiopia’s Senbere Teferi cruised to a world-leading time of 14:46.61 when winning the 5000m at the Adidas Boost Meeting in Herzogenaurach
The 21-year-old was a silver medallist over 5000m at the IAAF World Championships Beijing 2015 and proved her Olympic preparations are well on track with a superb solo performance
Teferi went through 1000m in a steady 2:59.81
then cranked through the gears to reach 2000m in 5:54.97
then summoned an impressive kick over the final lap to come home in 14:46.61 to easily surpass Sally Kipyego’s previous world lead of 14:58.60
Jamaica’s Yohan Blake proved his long journey back to the top is progressing well when taking the men’s 100m in 10.03 (1.1m/s)
The 2011 world champion showed impressive power over the final 50 metres to move clear of compatriot Warren Weir
shot to fame in 2011 when winning 100m gold at the IAAF World Championships in Daegu
but had been well off his best in recent years after a string of injury problems
the double Olympic silver medallist proved he may once again be a threat in Rio de Janeiro this summer when running what was then a world-leading 9.95 to win in Kingston last month
and this was further proof that his injury problems are firmly behind him
Tori Bowie again proved she will be a force to be reckoned with come the Olympics by taking victory in 10.91 (1.2m/s)
Trinidad and Tobago’s Michelle-Lee Ahye was runner-up in 11.07
with Britain’s Desiree Henry third in 11.23

and with Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce opting out of action in Shanghai this weekend due to injury problems
the US sprinter appears the dominant force in female sprinting at this early stage of the season
The men’s 800m saw the emergence of a possible future star of the event
as Kenyan teenager Willy Tarbei made his European debut and powered to victory in 1:44.84
The 17-year-old first made his mark internationally when taking gold in the IAAF World Youth Championships Cali 2015 last summer
he now appears more than ready to make the step up to senior level
With Edwin Meli taking the field through 400m in 51.00
Tarbei was content to sit in the pack alongside Jonathan Kitlit
When Kiplagat stepped off the track at 600m
Running in a style similar to fellow Kenyan David Rudisha – his tall frame covering the ground with long
loping strides – Tarbei powered clear in the home straight to take victory in 1:44.84
Tarbei will next compete at the IAAF World Challenge meeting in Beijing on Wednesday and then in Hengelo
There was another Kenyan win in the men’s 1500m
as Nixon Chepseba took victory in 3:39.18 ahead of Germany’s Sebastian Keiner
The roles were reversed for both nations in the women’s race
with Germany’s Maren Kock taking victory in 4:11.96 with Kenya’s Lydia Wafula second in 4:12.89

a local football club from PUMA’s hometown
for a special limited collection of street wear
But why would you do a collection with this particular small club
Every collection and every product needs to tell a story,” explains our Global Creative Director
“And what’s a more authentic story than working with a club so intertwined with our brand and home town
What’s more real than a logo that has existed for 100 years?”
which is part of our SELECT offering of limited editions
includes classic silhouettes from football such as indoor boots
All pieces are inspired by PUMA’s hometown and 1
FC Herzogenaurach and include historical elements like the 1
the club’s iconic blue colour as well as our own historical Rudolf Dassler Logo
A key element is a special camouflage pattern that is actually made up of the outlines of Herzogenaurach
The idea for this graphic element came from Nozomu Imanishi
our Head of Creative Design for Apparel and Accessories in Japan
He worked on Torsten’s initial design brief to create a collection that is a “fusion of sports performance
and history.” After deciding on the products that would get a makeover
it was all about collecting inspiration for the 1
photographing the club’s 100-year-old badge on walls and floors – and the small fact of signing the club as a new global asset so we could use the logo
“Some of our colleagues thought it was funny that we signed a contract with the 1
our portfolio includes clubs like Arsenal,” said Torsten
“But it was worth it to be able to dig into our common history and use the elements in this collection.”
FC Herzo collaboration might be limited edition and very locally inspired – but it’s already proving to be popular around the world

Dua talked about her love for PUMA products
“What I loved about the Mayze when I first saw it was: Often girls think whether they should wear a dress or a skirt and that doesn’t always work with trainers
and it feels like it has a bit more of an edge
It felt like something I would have loved to wear and something my friends would love to wear
I felt really connected to it in that way,” Dua said
She then took time to answer some of the questions sent in by PUMA employees ahead of the event

adidas is celebrating a major milestone this year with its 70th anniversary this month
the company has opened a sparkling new building at its Herzogenaurach

making it appear as if the structure is floating in the air
An architectural stairway greets employees as they walk into the space
reportedly accounting for as much energy as it would take to complete a marathon if walked up and down once every day for a year
The floorplan was designed with an open workplace concept
It’s split into six different sections that represent adidas’ “six key cities” (Los Angeles
other highlights of the headquarters include the “Laces” and the “Halftime” buildings
which are both themed around the headquarters’ “World of Sports” motif
