Even though Pressley doesn't let those failed friendships hold her back she's still struggled with social anxiety in different ways She admits she used to have a "phobia of throwing parties" out of fear that no one would show up (for the record she's also writing and recording more music for her debut EP which she hopes to release later this spring "It's definitely giving Pressley 2.0," she says of the upcoming project describing it as having a "heavily dance-focused" sound "I really want it to be centered on girlpower That's what I want the tracks to feel like I want to share this version of me as I get older." This Pressley 2.0 energy extends beyond her music and into every aspect of her life When asked if she thinks her busy 2025 schedule will leave time for dating her response sounds like something straight out of a Mature Life Choices textbook.  "This is my predicament: I would say no because I don't ever want to be distracted from what I want to do…but I think the right person shouldn't distract you from what you want," she explains adding that she could see herself in a relationship "I don't want to date just to date Pressley 2.0's perfect match would need to have their own dreams and be supportive of hers "I definitely need somebody who works hard and has goals," she says "Even if it's not what they want to do with their entire life I need someone who's driven and passionate about something." her biggest deal-breaker stems from another lesson she learned the hard way "I've been led on a couple of times and it's just not good," Pressley shared when asked about her dating red flags "I don't like someone who is too nonchalant about everything I can't be with someone who can't open up especially when it comes to their feelings."  Pressley believes good communication skills are important outside of dating too—and that shouldn't be surprising for someone who hosts a podcast called Cool Conversations.  The podcast's eight episodes exude Pressley's trademark optimism even when tackling tough topics like avoiding the comparison trap (she brought on fellow dancer/actress Jayden Bartels for that) building self-esteem (with entrepreneur and activist Kheris Rogers) and maintaining a sense of authenticity (with Erin & Aaron alum Gering) "My goal isn't to ignore the realities of challenging situations but to help girls find what they can learn from them so they can grow," Pressley says of her pods "I think that's one of the biggest messages behind everything I do: We're all going through hard things That sentiment is obvious at Pressley's Galentine's bash (and *all* of her parties inclusive spaces where everyone feels celebrated it's not just about the party—it's about spreading joy "I'm super grateful to have many amazing people in my life right now And it makes me happy that I can be the reason that these girls meet," she shares but you know it's going to be a good time." Brown Science and Engineering Library in Clark Hall, across from the main Children’s and Young Adult Literature Collection. Hosbach also prepared a guide to the collection to support researchers and to serve as a model for educators and libraries globally “The collection website is getting thousands of hits and we’re getting more requests for consulting and other suggestions,” Hosbach said asked Hosbach to give a presentation recently to one of his courses on elementary teaching “Often there is a gap between what our [student] interns need to be able to create successful lessons and what is provided in the field,” Plaskon said “Ashley Hosbach’s collection is unique and unusual and I don’t think there is another like it anywhere.” Hosbach said there is a very low number of vaccination books published for children – something she is writing an article on “The majority of these tend to be from small presses or are self-published by medical personnel We need more authors and publishers to write books about vaccination for children to help build vaccine confidence.” She said she also sees it as a collection that “will be referenced historically for research on the pandemic and how public health information during a crisis is communicated to children.” “Sofia and the Shot,” written by nurse practitioner Sarah Wilson features a young girl who is anxious about getting her vaccine appears to reassure her and takes her on a journey to explain why vaccines are important Hosbach also recommends another feline-themed volume “The Little Cat That Zoomed,” by Ashley and Eyal Podell that takes the family cat’s perspective to help children process changes in routine Two other titles provide examples of books that tackle more general emotional and potentially traumatic issues: “How to Tame My Anxiety Monster,” by Melanie Hawkins and “The Breaking News,” by Sarah Lynne Reul which Hosbach called “a great book for any stressful situation that helps children focus on the helpers and how they can contribute during a crisis versus just the bad news.” Hosbach also pointed out that the collection has been “mapped,” or matched to an educational framework known as the Collaborative for Academic as well as the Virginia Department of Education Health Standards of Learning to help UVA student teachers and others more easily integrate the material into classroom instruction Building the collection with funding from the Jefferson Trust Hosbach hopes to be able to purchase more clipboardHere’s advice from a self-professed tree-hugger and tree detectiveJohn Hosbach Jr His goal: Study the trees and find what's wrong with them His work takes him from Pennsylvania’s marshy lowlands to the dry terrain of Montana where he works long days chatting with lawyers and writing detailed reports that need to answer the big question: What’s wrong with this tree He examines everything from oaks to poplars digging for root rot and inspecting dead branches compelling him to testify in court when people are hurt or killed by felled trees And as more cities push for more greenery and suburban towns rally to keep neighborhoods as leafy as possible “We try to have a good balance between managing the trees and condemning them," said Hosbach a town so green that trees and grasses droop onto some roads “People get really pissed when I start cutting trees or condemning them.” Trees — from grand oaks to everyday aspens and prickly pines — are planted by and for loved ones and long been trumpeted as symbols of strength and growth (“This oak tree and me,” the astronomer Carl Sagan once said “People don’t think, ‘Hey, I might have a liability here,’” said Hosbach, president of the Ridley Park-based urban forestry company Rockwell Associates standing near the Radnor Township building on Iven Avenue just about a mile away from where he stood a 45-foot tree branch snapped on the Radnor Trail and hit Devon resident Donald Vigliotti as he sat on a bench an 83-year-old beech tree that Hosbach had marked as hollow — and therefore unsafe — fell on the empty concession stand at Encke Park Radnor officials are struggling to routinely check the health of the town’s trees chair of the Radnor Board of Commissioners There are so many trees that would need to be checked that Radnor needs to allot $2 million for the job “We’re kind of in a situation where there’s a lot of trees needing a lot of maintenance,” she said “We have been told by our staff that tree maintenance that has really been neglected over the years The funds to do the maintenance — it’s never been adequately funded by the township There are other things that have taken priority.” “My conclusions are not always welcomed,” he said It cost Borowski $10,000 to hire a company to remove two large pine trees in her backyard after they were struck by lightning eight or nine years ago and [people] put it off as long as they can," said Rich Widmann chair of the Lower Merion Shade Tree Commission “There’s a lot of trees out there that should be taken down.” Convincing people to do so isn’t always easy I’m a little concerned about my oak tree,’” Hosbach said , The gentle warmth of springtime is making us *totally* crave summer We just can’t wait for that epic beach vacay with our So we submitted the online form I actually found out I got it from a post on social media that Abby did So it was through Gianna and taking her class I used to go to a lot of the "Dance Moms" boot camps and classes growing up since I was 6 years old because I loved it so much When was the first time that you got recognized in public for being on the show "My daughter loves you on 'Dance Moms.'" I was like it mostly started off at dance competitions and it still is very weird to me to think that people know who I am There's been a few really memorable moments I remember I was on the boardwalk in New Jersey with my family You're so awesome in 'Dance Moms.'" I would cry if I met some people and I can't believe people are like that for me What were some of your favorite and least favorite performances on the show both of my favorite dances are actually in one episode My favorite solo was the one called "Flower Child," and my favorite dance was "Rising from the Ashes." I think that was our second-to-last episode Both of those dances were super special to me How did you keep yourself grounded when things got really dramatic on the show and I'm so grateful to have a great support system My parents are super supportive of everything that I do and my whole entire family is super supportive It's them that have kept me grounded and reminded me of what's important [they] remind me that this is what I wanted to do and I'm doing this to push towards my dreams What were things like behind the scenes on "Dance Moms" versus what actually aired on TV The most shocking thing for me was how long it actually takes to film everything We actually don't start filming until later in the week but Pyramid in itself is actually four hours long when it is only five minutes of the show and it turns into less than an hour-long episode and how quickly you have to learn the dances — it seems quick on the show but that part is actually quicker in real life What was the best lesson that you took away from being on the show The best lesson I took away was to stay true to who you are and be confident in yourself no matter what anybody else says about you and because you're so confident and so sure of what you want and who you are That was something that I also had to grow and learn I feel like ["Dance Moms"] gave me a lot of confidence in who I am and also taught me that I'm going to need that if I want to be in this industry Are you still in touch with any former "Dance Moms" cast members I do keep in touch with some of the girls from the show and Brady It's really cool that I have made such strong friendships with some of them It was a great experience to meet new people How did you get started creating content on social media I actually started my YouTube channel right before quarantine but I wasn't gaining a crazy amount of followers From "Dance Moms," I had a pretty decent platform [But] it wasn't until I was getting on a flight back from LA to go to New Jersey to quarantine [that things took off] and I posted myself doing the Savage Dance on TikTok right before I got on the plane I kept posting me doing dances and dueting different TikTokers maybe I'll start to do what I did on my YouTube channel on my TikTok After I started gaining a lot of traction on TikTok it went over to Instagram and then to YouTube but I'm so grateful for it because I feel like I wouldn't be where I am without it How did being on "Dance Moms" help you cope with some of the challenges that come with being an influencer It's the same as what I said before: You have to be so confident in who you are that nobody else's words will really affect you but I feel like that's the same with online criticism I'm so grateful that I have a great fan base and people who watch my videos and I'm so grateful that those are the people who support me You have to be so confident in yourself and be sure of what you're posting it doesn't really matter if other people like it We heard that you're working on an album at the moment Taylor Swift is such a big inspiration for me. She started music when she was about my age, and I feel like she's grown into one of the biggest artists of all time. Same with Olivia Rodrigo. I love her so much. And Dolly Parton is a really big inspiration to me as well Can you tell us a bit more about your music project I've been working on my music project for over a year now and it's been really fun getting to be in different rooms with different producers and writers and learning all the ropes getting to explore my voice and see what I want my sound to be like being a sponge and soaking everything up so that I know everything — there's so much to learn I'm so excited for it to finally come out because I feel like it's been so long and I can't wait to share everything with everyone Your "Get Ready With Me" videos on TikTok are so popular What inspires your personal sense of style She is my style inspiration because she dresses so cool Can you share some of your upcoming plans with us I'm actually launching a collaborative athleticwear line with Jo+Jax I've been wearing them since I was so little I'm having my own collection come out with them in about two weeks We just posted what the collection looks like That's been such a fun project to work on with them You can pre-order Pressley's Collection at Jo+Jax.
