Ping founder Karsten Solheim changed the face of golf when he started making putters back in 1959 (the 1-A model was his first design), but it wasn’t until the first toe and heel-weighted Anser hit the market in 1966 that Ping really started creating some of the best putters ever made
the best Ping putter designs have been copied a million times over
and many modern putter designs bought today are based on the shapes and profiles perfected by Solheim over 60 years ago
In 2025 Ping have two putter families to choose between
the PLD Milled which offers golfers the precision of a 100% CNC Milled construction
To help you find the best Ping putter for your game
we’ve looked at all 11 of the company’s latest models
TG Equipment Editor Simon Daddow and Test Pro Neil Wain both putted to a hole 15 feet away and hit at least 20 putts with each model tested
looking for how putts roll across the surface of the green
and gauging the feel and feedback of the putter face
whilst also paying attention to the shaft and the stability on off-center hits
While we normally share all the data from our golf club tests
Whilst we do use a Foresight GC Quad launch monitor in putting mode to measure and gauge the roll
over the years we’ve learned that putting data is more player- and day-dependent than any other club in the bag
we don’t base big decisions or recommendations on it
as history shows data is very likely to be different on another day’s testing
we’re not comfortable making huge claims that one putter rolls better than another
because we know that on another day’s testing
You can read all about how TG tests golf equipment here
All leading manufacturers – including TaylorMade, Odyssey
and Ping – offer a wide range of putters in different shapes
The biggest decision when choosing a new putter is whether you want a blade putter
Blades are the most traditional-looking putters. They are typically quite slim, with a narrow footprint and profile. Blade putters traditionally have had toe hang
which means they suit golfers with an arced putting stroke
although face-balanced blade putters are available for those with straight back-and-through strokes today
There has been a trend towards wider-bodied blade putters recently
which sit between a mallet and a blade and offer a bit more forgiveness and reassurance than a very slim body putter
Blade putters are less forgiving than mallet and MOI models as they twist more on off-center hits
which leads to putts losing energy so they travel less far
which can of course up your 3-putt percentage
Mallet putters tend to have a bigger footprint than blades
although the blade length from heel to toe is often shorter
The wider body offers greater distance consistency on off-center strikes than you get with a blade
which can really help as you’ll be surprised how often you miss the middle of the face
This area of the market has really taken off in the last decade as all types of golfers have realized the performance benefits of super-stable putters
you’re making the game harder by using a narrow-blade putter rather than an MOI Putter
If you can accept the somewhat unconventional looks of the best MOI models
It’s important to love the look of your putter
as confidence is such a huge part of the game on the greens

After custom-engineering their staff professionals’ perfect flatsticks for years
2022 was the year Ping opened up their most popular Putting Lab Designs to the public
Four initial models have now been boosted with a further five for 2025
Each head is created from 303 stainless steel and requires more than 4 hours on the mill to ensure each surface and radius is perfectly formed to meet the eyes of their crack tour team
All six PLD models have very clean, unfussy appearances, a look driven by Victor Hovland, Tony Finau, and Bubba Watson
all of who’ve used PLD models to win on tour
Thanks to different hosel set-ups and various amounts of toe-hang there are PLD models to suit slight or strong arc players and those who like to swing the putter in a straight back and straight through motion
Expect a slightly firmer more responsive feel and feedback from PLD models as there’s no soft urethane face insert like some of Ping’s other 2024 models
Make sure you get the right set-up to compliment not fight how you perform on the dancefloor
Where Ping PLD putters target 100% CNC Milled precision
the brand’s 2024 putter models go after optimizing performance through multi-material constructions
where PLD putter heads are created as one-piece heads
and steel/aluminum body sections to improve feel and up forgiveness
The 2024 family is made up of six big-selling popular Ping putter shapes
so no matter whether your preference is classic blades
or forgiving MOI fang style putters there’s a solution here for everyone
it’s well worth making the effort to get properly fitted as Ping offers some cracking grip choices to tailor the feel to you
and Bubba Watson have had a direct line into Ping’s Putter Lab for years
Launched in the USA in 2022 (and now available in the UK) PLD Custom is a tour-level fitting experience
where Ping will work with you to create your own perfect putter
You can schedule a fitting at Ping Labs in Phoenix
By hitting a series of 10-foot putts (with an iPod installed with Ping’s iPing app attached to your putter) and talking your flatstick game through with one of Ping’s elite fitters
you get to custom your own PLD putter from top to bottom
It’s not a cheap route into Ping putters in the UK it’s £200 for the fitting plus a further £1800 when you order your putter
but you get to choose everything from loft to lie and grip type
as well as deciding on whether you want tungsten weighting
in exactly the same way top tour players do
Ping putters are nowhere near as dominant on tour as they were in the 80’s and 90’s but thanks to the PLD franchise they have clawed themselves back a decent chunk of market share amongst the best players in the world
World Number 5 Viktor Hovland uses a PLD DS72. Sahith Theegala uses a TR 1966 Anser 2. Whereas Tyrrell Hatton uses a Vault Oslo and Tony Finau plays a PLD Anser 2D
so there’s a good amount of very elite players who earn their crust using Ping putters
Ping is all about giving golfers the exact set-up they want and to ensure you’re not left wanting when it comes to grips
The 87g Ping PP58 is Ping’s traditional style model, it’s a pistol-shaped midsize version of the iconic grip used by Tiger Woods to win his 15 majors
In Europe this model comes as the stock grip on the 2024 models
Ping says it naturally encourages squaring the putter face at impact
There’s also the option of the brilliant Lamkin-produced PP60 (with an upcharge)
this midsize grip has larger flat surfaces for increased face awareness (88g weight)
Whereas a further straight taper PP58 S (99g)
has pronounced flat surfaces and is available as a no-upcharge custom order
If you’re in doubt over which grip best suits you
a general rule of thumb is smaller grips tend to suit slight and stronger arcing strokes better
Where larger models like the Ping PP60 inhibit wrist break so are often a better fit for straighter stroke players
Ping doesn’t publish MOI information for any of their putter models
but it’s not too difficult to spot which models are going to offer more forgiveness than their counterparts
The stretched wide body of the Ketsch G will compete with the most forgiving putters on the market
while the 2024 Fetch and 2024 Tyne H will not be too far behind
If it’s forgiveness you’re looking for stay away from the narrow body blades
as these are the least forgiving in Ping’s line-up
In 2025 golfers who swear blade putters fit their eye will also likely be better served by the wider body and more forgiving Anser 2D than the original Anser
Very few putter brands can not only fit you but also offer direct input into your new putter’s shape
I cannot recommend every golfer go the PLD Custom route as it’s such a huge investment in a flatstick
but I know lots of golfers will love the experience and get a lot out of designing their own putter with the help of a Ping engineer
If you’re looking for the ultimate putter fitting experience and have a truly one-off putter to show for it at the end of the process Ping’s PLD Custom experience is second to absolutely none
Would I feel comfortable paying £2000 for the pleasure
Probably not but there are plenty of well-heeled golfers who will be
all of the Ping PLD 2024 putters are 100% CNC Milled
that’s why each head can take up to 4 hours for a CNC machine to make
That’s a huge investment of time to create a single putter which ties up significant time on the machine and explains why CNC Milled putters are so expensive
Unlike Scotty Cameron and Bettinardi though Ping doesn’t make a big play about their PLD models being ‘Made in the USA’
so it’s highly likely the brand uses a third-party supplier somewhere in Asia

Testing the Ping 2024 Ketsch G Putter at Bootle Golf Course
The ball retriever option is handy and helps with MOI
Dave Usher takes the new Ping Ketsch G putter for a spin on the golf course to see if it is as forgiving as advertised
The 2024 Ping Ketsch G putter combines premium aesthetics with exceptional forgiveness and a soft feel thanks to the PEBAX face insert
The large footprint aids stability and the alignment lines are especially effective for lining up shorter putts
making this a great choice for beginners or golfers who struggle with aim on the greens
This is because the “New Ping Putters” have been developed individually so there is no uniform design.
There is nothing in my collection with a similar head shape to the Ketsch though
particularly when I removed the classic looking head cover and saw it for the first time.
I love the alignment markings on the crown as well as the deep footprint which really promotes confidence over the ball
How can you look at all that real estate behind the ball and not think you are getting maximum forgiveness
traditional design of the head cover is very appealing too and in terms of the visuals I can’t fault this putter at all
The first thing to say is that it was as forgiving as I had expected
With my normal putting stroke I was only finding the sweet spot maybe twice every five putts
I’m not sure why as I liked how it sat behind the ball and it felt very stable when I took the putter head back
but coming through to hit the ball just wasn’t quite right
The feeling was similar to when you catch an iron shot a bit thin
I think the loft and lie may be a little unsuited to me so I had to adjust my stroke slightly (moving my hands forward a touch) to start middling it more frequently
That made a big difference and when I found the center more frequently which really showed off the benefit of the insert
which gives it a softer feel than the milled face of my PLD Oslo 3
can pick the ball out of the hole which is great for golfers with back trouble who struggle to bend
The large head of the Ketsch means it is too big to fit in the hole though
Overall though this putter brings a lot to the table
it has high levels of forgiveness and the alignment aid is first class and will really help golfers who struggle to get their putts on line
This makes it an excellent putter for beginner golfers or those who just need that bit of forgiveness and a larger footprint to inspire confident when addressing the ball

Dave’s lowest round is a one over par 73 around Kirkby Valley Golf Club in 2018
which included a bogey on the 18th to ruin the one and only chance he’ll ever have of shooting an even par or better score. That errant tee shot on 18 does not still haunt him to this day though
in fact he hardly ever thinks about it. No
Dave splits most of his golf between Hurlston Hall Golf Club in Ormskirk

Ping models are designed for different strokes depending on the balance of the face
you'll want to try one of their face-balanced putters
then try a mid-hang putter and if you have a strong arc
As Ping are renowned for producing high-performance putters
many PGA Tour Pros use their putters on tour
The Ping Anser 2 has a slightly longer and narrower profile than the Ping Anser
but overall shares the same center alignment and geometrics as its namesake
We check out the best Ping putters that are currently available on the market
The PLD Milled range is Ping's flagship offering
with each putter taking over four hours to be precision-milled in Ping's factories
There is also the PLD Plus which allows you to customize your putter as well
custom alignment markings and engraving options
Within each range of Ping putters there are a ton of options available to cover every type of stroke
personal taste as well as the type of greens you tend to play on
so let's take a look at the best Ping putters out right now

The Ping Anser is the father of the modern blade putter and no range of Ping putters would be complete without one
A deep AMP aggressive milling pattern provides a cool and swirly finish on the clubface
while also reducing the number of contact points with the ball at impact
This giving the PLD Anser a much softer feel than some previous Anser designs
The plum neck offset hosel and long head that is counterbalanced with heel and toe weights means the Anser suits players with a slight arc in their stroke
Aesthetically the PLD range really pops and in my view these are some of the coolest looking putters on the market currently
The PLD Anser comes in an all-black matte finish and features a black graphite shaft that does not feel any different from the steel shaft you will find on the PLD Anser 2 model
Whilst I love the sleek-look of this putter
we have to mention that it doesn't feature an alignment tool
If that's a problem for you then the PLD Anser 2 model is very similar in design but comes in a brushed steel finish that has a center alignment line on its back to help improve your accuracy
Overall I think this is an outstanding putter that combines beautiful aesthetics with premium materials and feel
That being said it may be best suited for the traditionalists and those more consistent with strike
which may alienate some higher handicap players
The Tomcat 14 builds on the success of the Ping Heppler Tomcat putter and is an extremely forgiving high MOI putter that performed excellently on the greens during my testing
its size may divide opinion but I think it is very appealing
as the silver 304 stainless steel sole plate sits below a black aluminum body
continuing the sleek black and silver look which I love
the ball is framed very nicely by two aluminum bars on the back of the clubhead which feature two cool dotted alignment lines that I found really helped us visualize the ball's direction
While this is a subjective issue and won't bother everybody
the one slight negative I found with the Tomcat 14 was that it gave off a slightly tinny sound at impact thanks to the aluminum top on the club
This was only a minor complaint and overall I found this to be a very forgiving club that should be perfect for anyone who struggles on the greens
when it comes to looks the Ketsch really hit every box for me
The black and white contrasts very well and it also really aided us when it came to lining up putts too
The overall footprint of the putter is quite large so that will heighten confidence for those who feel reassured by a larger head
The simple but premium headcover and grip also added to the great overall visuals on offer too
When it came to actually hitting putts I noted that it felt very forgiving
as you might expect from such a large head
Despite its size there is nothing cumbersome about the Ketsch and I noted that it sat well behind the ball and felt very stable through impact
it was immediately evident how beneficial the PEBAX face insert was as I really enjoyed the softer feel and pleasing sound on offer
Overall I would say that this putter brings a lot to the table
Aesthetically it looks great both on the green as well as in the bag
while it provides high levels of forgiveness and excellent alignment
I feel the Ketsch will definitely help golfers who need help getting the ball on line
so beginner golfers in particular will benefit although it may also appeal to the better player who needs a little bit more reassurance on the greens
Combining the style of classic Ping putters with a modern shape
the PLD DS 72 putter is a high-performance model that offers enough forgiveness that all golfers can benefit from using it
A premium forged 303 stainless steel head and a face that features an aggressive milling pattern really ensures a responsive feel and softer sound at impact
I did not expect a forged head putter to feel this sweet off the clubface so that was a pleasant surprise
while I also found this putter gives great feedback
The rounded mallet shape has a very crisp finish to it and we were drawn to the subtly colored Ping logo on its back
I also liked the sleek steel design which features a handy alignment tool on its trailing edge that sits in a slot that is about the same width as the golf ball to help you line up your putts better
By combining the DS72 clubhead with a longer shaft Ping have created this fantastic armlock putter that delivers excellent stability and control for those who enjoy using armlock putters
the 41.5" steel shaft rises high up to your midriff and can be locked against your leading arm to deliver a high level of control and stability over your putts
The extra length means it is quite heavy to wield
but when used correctly that greatly adds to the stability on offer
In testing I really enjoyed the feel it delivered from the face
with a solid connection and nice ball roll yielding good results
While I think this is a fantastic putter, we feel that Ping should perhaps have put a larger mallet head on it, much like many of the flat-sticks that feature on our best armlock putters guide
Perhaps they didn't feel it necessary due to the excellent customization options offered by Ping's custom-fitting service
One final thing I really liked about this putter was that it comes with a very clear alignment tool on the head
so that is ideal for any golfer looking to improve their accuracy around the greens
feel and performance of this offering from Ping from 2024
It features a slightly different head design to the traditional Anser
while retaining the classic look that makes it so iconic
The Anser D is one of my favorite looking putters on the market currently as it ticks every box when it comes to aesthetics
From the classic looking leather head cover to the traditional grip and everything in between
The 'D' in the name is because of the slightly deeper profile to the standard Anser
but not as deep as the 'Double Wide' models offered by some other brands
This putter has been designed to offer stability and forgiveness you would normally see from a mallet
this extra depth seemed to add a touch more forgiveness for me
I noted that it feels a little heavier than a standard blade which is to be expected given the extra real estate behind the ball
It is designed for a slight arc stroke so that added weight helps to keep the face steady on the takeaway and through impact
Overall the performance in testing was nothing short of sensational
our reviews and buyers' guides are built upon a rigorous testing procedure as well as the knowledge and experience of the test team
We test the putters outdoors on real greens with premium golf balls to get a thorough understanding of design features
Putter testing is also headed up by Golf Monthly's Sam De'Ath
who has years of experience testing golf gear and has competed on the EuroPro and Clutch Pro Tours
While the driver might be the more exciting club
when you consider that the greens are where golfers gain the most shots
the putter is arguably the most important club in your bag
It's certainly the one you reach for the most during the course of a round
Therefore we cannot stress enough the importance of having a good putter
One that gives you confidence when you address the golf ball and helps you sink the putts to get your handicap down
Ping is one of the best putter manufacturers in golf and offer something for golfers of all skill levels and putting styles
but there are a number of things every golfer needs to look out for when looking to purchase a new putter
All three styles have positives and negatives to them for every player but all three are packed with technology and innovations to help the golfer
so whatever you require there will be a top quality option for you
Mallet putters tend to be much larger than blades and they usually come in various shapes and sizes
Usually most of the weight in a mallet putter can be found in the clubface
but because of its design weight can also be redistributed to other parts of the head which can help stabilize your stroke
This extra weight in the perimeter of the club-head offers better balance than what can be offered from a blade putter
Mallet putters also usually have a larger sweet spot which is good for the player who struggles to consistently strike putts out of the middle of the face
The weight in the clubhead also helps here because it reduces twisting of the putter throughout the stroke
a mallet or mid-mallet putter will help as the extra depth in the head means they usually have longer alignment lines
Alignment plays a crucial part in putting because it is all about accuracy and a mallet putter can certainly assist when you line up the putt
A blade putter on the other hand is a lot simpler in terms of design and will suit the traditionalists among you
Blade putters tend to suit players with an arc in their putting stroke because of the toe-weighted nature of the club-head
and they are usually preferred by golfers who rely a lot on feel when putting
it's not just about the feel and sound the ball makes coming off the face
but also how the putter feels in your hands
whereas soft-feeling putters work best with firmer golf balls
Feel can be altered to suit and you can get putters with adjustable weights in the sole that will alter the feel of the putter
So if your stroke is quite smooth and slow
although opting for more weight may reduce it
The putter grip plays a huge roll in the confidence you feel with a putter
Get one that feels right and sits in your hands comfortably while allowing you to return the putter back to the ball squarely and consistently
You should get a putter that you like the look of as the aesthetics can play a role in inspiring or diminishing confidence on the greens
Blades won't offer as much alignment assistance but are still popular because of how they feel and the levels of forgiveness are increasing every year
and can therefore provide more help to set the face squarely
offering a decent level of assistance without looking too cumbersome
Our final tip is to think about price because while there are some premium designs out there
there are also some models which offer excellent value
All putters will propel the ball towards the hole
If performance is more important than looks or feel
there are lots of cut-price options out there that will do a good job and you can spend more money on other areas of your bag

Ping and putters are pretty much synonymous in the golf world
Ping is bringing out a new brand of putters with additions to its Cadence TR putter series
The Craz-e-r and Ketsch Mid putters are now available
an evolution of the highly successful Craz-E design
is a high-MOI model featuring a sightline that extends from the top to the back of the putter for improved alignment
a smaller version of the award-winning Ketsch
high-MOI mallet-style head with advanced alignment features
Both models are engineered with True Roll Technology grooves and are available in two weight options
“Our commitment to engineering without sacrifice continues to produce measurable performance benefits across our entire product line,” said John A
COR-Eye Technology in the GMax iron provides the rare combination of distance with control
giving you significantly more ball speed for shots that fly farther and land softly
The i iron is a players-style design that appeals to golfers of all skill levels because of its all-around performance
It has a great look and provides workability
trajectory control and just the right amount of forgiveness
It’s already in the bags of several of our tour professionals.”
more compact head than the original Ketsch mallet currently in play on many pro tours
aerospace-grade aluminum body to ensure precision
and also features True-Roll Technology grooves
TR grooves vary in width and depth from the center of the face
producing consistent ball speeds across the face for unmatched distance control
resulting in more holed putts and fewer three-putts
We review what's in the bag of Adrian Meronk
the first Polish golfer to win on the DP World Tour
Jump to: Meronk’s WITB
Adrian Meronk has very much become a household name over the past couple of years and has cemented himself as one of the best Europeans in the game
The Pole was extremely unlucky to miss out on representing Team Europe at the 2023 Ryder Cup
that’s well behind him after storming through the field with a pair of 66s over the weekend to emerge victorious at the 2023 Andalucia Masters less than a month after the Ryder Cup concluded
Meronk’s most recent victory is his second of 2023 (third of the season)
and his fourth in the last 16 months – making the Ping Tour player one of the most decorated players in the professional game over this time period
He’s had the most victories on the DP World Tour since winning his first title at the 2022 Irish Open at Mount Juliet
Our Features Editor, Michael Catling, recently caught up with Adrian Meronk
who told Today’s Golfer how much he enjoys playing golf in Australia
This may be because of the success he’s enjoyed over there – picking up his second DP World Tour victory back in December 2022 at the ISPS Handa Australian Open
Meronk said it was a special moment to beat the former World No.1
“He was always my role model growing up… but beating him in the final group in front of the big crowds in Australia is just quite an unbelievable experience.”
The 30-year-old remains the only Polish golfer to have won an event on the DP World Tour and I’m sure he’ll add many more victories to his CV over the coming years
the majority of Meronk’s bag is made up of Ping equipment and while he’s having much success it’s unlikely he’ll be switching allegiances anytime soon
Let’s take a look at the specific models the Polish star elects to use
Adrian Meronk plays with a Ping G430 Max Driver (10.5°) with a Fujikura Speeder Evolution V1 661-X shaft
Adrian Meronk reaches for a Ping G425 Max Fairway Wood (14.5°) with a Fujikura Speeder Evolution V1 757-X shaft
Adrian Meronk bridges the gap to his irons with a Ping G425 Hybrid (19°) with a Ping Tour 85-X shaft
Adrian Meronk plays with Ping iBlade irons (4-PW) with True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 shafts
Adrian Meronk opts for a set of three Titleist Vokey Design SM9 Wedges (50˚-12F
58º–10˚S) with True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue shafts
Adrian Meronk's weapon on the greens is a Ping Vault 2.0 Ketsch Putter
Adrian Meronk elects to use Titleist Pro V1 golf balls

Gear: Ping Putters (2024)Price: $250 (Anser 2
$300 (Ketsch G)Who It's For: Golfers who want a blend of feel and forgiveness
with several custom-fitting options and styles
The Skinny: Each of the Ping Putters is designed to fit a specific stroke type
and with several different head styles and alignment aids in the family
Ping hopes to make it easier for golfers and fitters to find the ideal putter
Ping is extending the Ping Putter line with six new offerings
"It’s a very diverse offering but the one thing they all have in common is they offer precision performance on putts of every length
"Golfers will have an easy time matching a model to fit their putting style
preferred alignment cues and desired feel."
The Ping Putters can be categorized by head style -- blade
mid-mallet and high-MOI mallet -- but the company prefers to group them by the stroke type they are designed to help: straight
golfers will find different-looking putters that also have been made with different alignment aids
One of the putters that established Ping as an elite putter brand
the Anser 2 is a heel-toe weighted blade with 20 degrees of toe hang
It has a slightly-longer blade length than the standard Anser
The milled face gives it a crisp feel at impact
The ball's-width back cavity has a single alignment line
The 17-4 stainless steel has been given a glare-reducing blast treatment
This is a beefier version of the Anser 2 and was developed with inspiration from the PGA Tour
a single alignment line and a firm feel thanks to a milled face
but this putter has a wider back flang that enhances stability
B60 - Slight ArcThis throwback design makes a comeback in thge Ping Putter lineup
With more mass in the heel and toe area thanks to the rounded ballasts of this blade
it has extra stability while retaining a thin topline
This fang-style shaping should be familiar to most golfers
with the extension in the heel and toe area pulling the center of gravity back for extra forgiveness
Unlike the putters made for golfers who have a slight-arc stroke
the Fetch has a a dual-density PEBAX face insert
It creates a softer feel than the milled faces on shorter putters
but the unique material delivers a feels firmer on longer putts
This mallet's higher moment of inertia (MOI) makes it more stable on mis-hits
so putts struck on the heel or toe roll straighter
the cutout allows you to retrieve a golf ball from the hole using the putter itself instead of your hands
this high=MOI mallet putter has a PEBAX insert
The Ketsch G is made with an aluminum body and stainless steel sole plate
and its larger top allowed designers to give it an easy-to-see alignment stripe
The hole in the sole note only enhances perimeter weighting
it lets players pick upballs without bending over
For ClubTest 2021, we tested and reviewed 21 new putters to help you find the right one for your game. (For more on our testing process, click here.) Below are the results for the Ping Heppler putters. You can find the full list of putters and test results here
Our take: Not every putterface is made to be soft
Some golfers prefer a firmer feel with more feedback
Ping’s Heppler putters are made for those golfers
“I like this firmer feel so I know where I’ve hit it on the face,” said one GOLF tester
“And the copper with the black provides nice contrast.”
The details: Ping’s Heppler putters feature solid faces instead of face inserts to create that firmer feel many testers noticed and liked
Ping uses a combination of steel and pressure-cast aluminum materials in the head to manipulate weight in order to raise forgiveness
An adjustable grip system helps golfers troubleshoot with length as well
From one tester’s lips to your ears: “This thing putts itself.”

The Golf Monthly test team reviews the Ping Ketsch Putter
The design of the head is simple yet striking
True Roll Technology and adjustable shaft length made it a joy to use
I was able to dial into the pace of the greens with ease
and also felt very confident when faced with short putts
The slightly larger-than-standard Golf Pride grip fitted into my hands perfectly
and I’d have no hesitation in recommending this product
1. Address view Compared to other mid and oversize mallets
The Ketsch putter features simple but effective sight lines that really stand out against the dark head
The head shape is pleasing to look down on
and it’s very clear when it isn’t pointing on the intended line
streamlined and with a stylish black colour scheme
the Ketsch putter looks fantastic in the bag and in the hands
3. Grip Because of the shaft adjustability, the grip is thicker than you will get on many standard offerings
This helps to keep the hands quiet during the stroke. If you prefer a thinner grip
there is a non-adjustable version available
4. Face design Ping’s True Roll Technology features grooves that are deepest in the centre of the face
becoming shallower towards the heel and toe
This means that ball speeds are consistent across the face for improved distance control
5. Adjustability The length of the shaft can be set anywhere between 31 and 38 inches using an adjustment tool
6. Stroke type The Ketsch is available in three shaft bends
each designed to suit a different stroke type; straight
7. Forgiveness The weighting and shape of the head mean it feels easy to deliver the face square on to the ball at impact
The Counterbalanced model (which has extra weight in the top of the grip to make the club more stable) makes this particularly easy
and those who have struggled under pressure in the past will find fantastic forgiveness on offer
8. Consistency Ping’s True Roll Technology groove design
does a great job of producing a consistent roll
You can putt knowing that even if you don’t make the perfect stroke
the ball will still roll out a similar distance each time
9. Distance control Some counterbalanced models take a little bit of time to get used to
but the Ketsch’s grooves help to make adapting easier
You soon realise that you can let the club do much of the work to get the ball to the hole
10. Feel The Counterbalanced model will feel very different to those who haven’t used one before
It feels very easy to make a controlled stroke and helps discourage deceleration into the ball

The next generation of PING’s 100%-milled putters are crafted and engineered to provide tour-caliber touch and performance through proven innovations like precision-milled
The new system offers sole weight options in steel (standard weight head)
tungsten (15 gms heavier than standard) and aluminum (15 gms lighter than standard) to match a golfer’s feel and balance preferences
“The PING Vault 2.0 putters are luxurious works of art that are engineered to perform,” said Solheim
“The craftsmanship and materials used in our milling and finishing processes ensure premium
eye-catching designs that appeal to the most discerning golfers
The ability to customise the weights provides golfers a putter uniquely built to fit their game.”
Precision-milled TR technology ensures full-face forgiveness for consistent speed off the face
The individually milled face pattern varies in depth and pitch across the face
improving consistency and ultimately leading to fewer three-putts
“As we advance the technologies we apply in designing and manufacturing our putters
we’re able to offer more putter-fitting options than ever,” said Solheim
“The precision with which we mill the PING Vault 2.0 putters allows us to fine-tune the specifications that best match a golfer’s stroke and feel preference
we’re able to add or reduce the overall headweight to achieve the best balance for each player which will lead to more consistency on the greens.”
Golfers can choose from three premium finishes (Stealth
Platinum or Copper) in five models precision-milled from 303 stainless steel
which is inspired by one of the original Anser putter molds created by Allan Dale Solheim and detailed by his father
The award-winning Ketsch mallet (Stealth or Slate finish) combines a fully-machined 6061 aerospace-grade aluminum body with a stainless steel sole plate for an extremely high MOI and offers exceptional alignment features
All the models are fit for stroke and designed with varying alignment aids to fit a golfer’s preferred look and alignment style
As part of the custom building process that ensures optimal balance
putters between 34″ and 36″ in length are built with steel sole weights; models 34″ and shorter feature tungsten weighting; putters built 36″ and longer use aluminum weights
Four proprietary PING Pistol tapered grips provide golfers with variances in shape and feel
lightweight design with a foam under-listing and dominant flats for face awareness
The PP61 has an exaggerated pistol to fit the contour of the golfer’s hands
and a rubber under-listing for a softer response
The CB60 is standard on custom counter-balanced putters in the line

Ping, at least originally, built its brand on Anser putter sales
but while there’s been a lot of Tour success over the years with countless models
it has been some time since Ping launched a model that captured the golfing public’s imagination and delivered massive sales
Ping reckons its new Heppler family can hit that spot
Related: WITB Andy Sullivan
It’s a nine-model line-up (the Piper comes in both a centre shaft and armlock model)
with two blades and seven mallet/MOI models
all of which deliver super high MOI performance thanks to an aluminium and stainless steel construction
Ping’s also turning its back on insert and face groove technology and instead focusing on giving golfers a firmer feel and more pleasing sound
LEARN ABOUT: What is putter toe hang? And why is it important?
“With the Heppler series, we’re providing golfers a firmer-feeling putter in highly forgiving models to ensure a choice that fits their stroke and eye,” said John K. Solheim, Ping President
“We’ve chosen a very precise manufacturing process that has significantly advanced our ability to create high-MOI mid-mallets and mallets by combining aerospace-grade aluminium with steel
The contrasting copper and black finish provides alignment cues and a visually appealing
premium look that’s attracting a lot of interest on tour.”
“Fitting continues to be an important part of our putter technology as well,” Solheim said
“We’ve made improvements to the feel of our adjustable-length shaft technology and the new putters are available to fit every stroke type so golfers can find a putter to match their stance and stroke.”
ROBOT TESTED: Which golf ball suits my game?
Heppler is Ping’s second family of putters with adjustable length shafts as standard (they’re stiffer and come in a black chrome finish for a sleek new look)
Length is adjustable from 32-36in; Ping says eight out of 10 golfers use the wrong length putter which plays a crucial role in hitting putts from the centre

cast aluminium chassis are teamed with strategically positioned heavy steel weights
The idea allows Ping’s engineers to position the centre of gravity in each head to boost forgiveness
creating an extremely high MOI family for more consistency
With Ping at the forefront of custom fitting
Heppler comes as standard with four grip options
to ensure you get a grip that gives you the perfect fit and feel
Colours promise to give visual cues to help you align squarely at your target more often
Heppler mixes black with copper (with either white sightlines or a black alignment dot) to create a distinctive look as you address a white ball

Ping’s business was built on the success of the Anser
it’s no surprise the most copied putter design of all time is part of the Heppler line-up

RRP: £275.00 Putter Type: Mallet Material: Aluminium face/SteelHead Weight: 360g Stroke Type: Slight Arc
The Fetch has a sneaky high MOI as the head has a ball-sized hole in the centre which boosts forgiveness
The colour contrasting helps golfers focus on the alignment lines
causing the holed-out section to fade and not be the primary focus
The whole head fits inside the hole to retrieve holed putts

Our pro used a Ping Sigma 2 Fetch to win four times on the Midlands PGA circuit last year
so he was keen to see what extra the new multi-material Heppler Fetch brought to the table
He loved the brilliant new copper and black cosmetics, but it’s fair to say there was a big difference in sound and feel to the dual material insert of his previous Sigma 2 model
That’s exactly why Ping have introduced Heppler
as they’re well aware not everyone wants a super-soft insert
but the lighter aluminium core removes mass and helps boost stability
more responsive feel and sound (and there’s plenty out there who will)
when you throw in the adjustable length shaft and four grip sizes/profiles
the Heppler Fetch is very attractive overall package

PING recently unveiled the 13-degree Rapture 3-wood for golfers looking for a versatile driver alternative or hotter-faced 3-wood
adjustable design combines a Ti 8-1-1 titanium body
high-strength beta-titanium face and dense tungsten sole plate for increased ball speed and lowered spin
“The weighting properties of titanium and tungsten provide our engineers a lot of opportunities to improve performance,” said John A
“The high-strength beta-titanium material allowed us to really focus on creating a hotter face that yields ball speeds and distance unlike any we’ve seen in fairway woods
The tungsten positions the weight extremely low so we can optimize the CG position
It has a taller face and deeper head profile
so golfers will have complete confidence with the Rapture
We think golfers will really appreciate this unique combination of technology to improve their performance
We’re excited to get it in golfers’ hands.”
extreme-variable-thickness face made of high-strength beta titanium (30% stronger than standard titanium) enlarges the hitting surface for increased forgiveness while accelerating ball speed to generate distance
Almost 25% of head mass is isolated in the tungsten sole plate
which positions the CG much lower in the Ti 8-1-1 head
further improving energy transfer for higher ball speed and less spin
The matte-black 219cc head has a deep profile for inspiring confidence
The standard 13 degrees of loft can easily be adjusted plus or minus ½ degree using PING’s Trajectory Tuning technology
The lightweight adjustable hosel has the same outer diameter and mass of PING’s traditional fixed hosels and provides the benefits of adjustability without sacrificing the performance that’s often lost in clubs with larger hosel designs
Precision milled at PING headquarters the new Ketsch putter will offer unprecedented distance control
extreme forgiveness and accurate alignment
It is the newest model to benefit from variable-depth grooves
which produce consistent results across the face
A 17-4 stainless steel sole weight creates a high MOI and makes the aluminum
“What really stands out about the Ketsch is the captured look it provides at address
inspiring confidence and promoting a consistent stroke
the key to holing more putts,” said John A

The center line runs all the way to the back to make aiming easy
Our research shows that the head shape promotes extremely consistent alignment for the majority of golfers
combined with our revolutionary variable-depth grooves and a high MOI
will help golfers putt more consistently.”
Variable-depth grooves milled into the face ensure ball-speed consistency whether the ball is struck in the center of the face
Grooves are deepest in the center and shallower toward the perimeter
which PING calls True Roll (TR) Technology
PING studies show an increase in ball-speed consistency of nearly 50% compared to a non-grooved face when measured at nine points across the face
golfers can choose a fixed-length shaft (35 inches is standard)
or they can upgrade to an adjustable-length version they can modify between 31 and 38 inches prior to a round
The Ketsch is available in three shaft bends to fit any stroke type: Straight
Results from hundreds of player and robot tests at PING show that golfers are more consistent with a putter balanced to fit their stroke type
The midsize PP58 black rubber grip is designed with a familiar shape
but its larger size quiets the wrists for improved confidence and stroke repeatability
Both the Rapture 3-wood and Ketsch putter are currently available to pre-order from PING-authorized golf shops

Ping’s new Vault 2.0 putters ($300 each) are 100% milled for Tour-like performance
Features include patented True Roll technology for consistent distance control across the entire face
and a new sole weighting system with steel (standard)
and aluminum (15g lighter than standard) to fit individual feel and taste
“As we advance the technologies we apply in designing and manufacturing our putters
we’re able to offer more putter-fitting options than ever,” said company president John K
“The precision with which we mill the Ping Vault 2.0 putters allows us to fine-tune the specifications that best match a golfer’s stroke and feel preference
we’re able to add or reduce the overall head weight to achieve the best balance for each player which will lead to more consistency on the greens.”
Vault 2.0 putters are available in three finishes (stealth
copper) and in five models including Dale Anser (inspired by the original Anser)
To make sure each putter is properly optimized for feel and balance
shorter models (34″ or less) are built with tungsten sole weights
standard (34″ to 36″) are built with steel sole weights
and longer models (36″ or more) are built with aluminum weights
All models in the family are available with four proprietary Ping pistol tapered grips (PP60

Mallet putters are designed to be forgiving due to their large head shape and they come in a variety of shapes with good alignment options so are good for types of golfer
Mallet putters are better for players who don't consistently hit the middle of the face with their putts
The larger size helps with alignment and forgiveness so that could be players of any handicap
but they will suit higher handicappers more
If your mallet putters has an alignment line on the top, then place this behind the ball and aim at your target. Sometimes golf balls have lines on them that you can align with the design on the putter to provide a visual aid for your stroke. See our guide for How To Practise Putting

The Vintage Cuda features a new soft PEBAX face insert that is crafted from a lightweight and responsive thermo-plastic elastomer
it produced a softer feel in comparison to the firmer aluminium face insert in Cobra's more premium 3D Printed putters
the Cuda features Descending Loft Technology (DLT)
1°) to maintain a consistent loft through impact regardless of your angle of attack or ball position in your stance
whilst the putter was responsive enough that we could feel a mis-hit from outside the sweet spot
One aspect that we really liked about the Cuda is that it features interchangeable weights that allow you to personalize your putter to find your desired feel and control
and these can be purchased separately to match your preferred head weight
Wilson are known for producing some of the best budget putters on the market and
it's set to slide into that category with ease
with the sole of the putter sitting very low to the ground
when it comes to the three short white lines on the top of the putter
the middle of the three lines is slightly thicker
which helps center the ball on the face at address
especially with the two-tone PVD anti-glare finish
which creates a visually-appealing look that adds to the premium feel
which were noticeable when the ball came off the face
there seems to be plenty of help at hand and the balance is really good for a putter at this price point
The M.Craft range from Mizuno allows players to customize the shape of the head of their putter after purchase via purchasing a new back piece or custom weights and is one of the most unique putters I've ever tested for that reason
Golfers can purchase additional backs (£100) and weight kits (£40) to dial in their putter to their exact specifications
with the backs and weights simply screwing out from the sole of the putter and can be reconfigured within a minute
The X6 was my favorite model from the three available, boasting an eye-catching fang look, producing high MOI and stable head while producing the feel of some of the best blade putters
All the putters possess a fairly deep CNC milled face
forged from a single piece of 1025 steel which gives off a surprisingly firm feel that I enjoyed nonetheless
Having tended to opt for milled putter faces for the majority of my golfing career
I really liked the acoustics and feel the M.Craft X 6 putter produced
whilst the slick all-black look inspired confidence in my stroke as I addressed the ball on the greens
The Bandon 3 mallet from TaylorMade has a short neck hosel
which provides a little more toe hang than the plumbers neck found on the Bandon 1
We found that it sits completely flush to the ground
while the alignment assistance on offer from the short black sight line is somewhat limited
on the plus side the winged shape helped us present it squarely to the ball
In testing, we felt it had a similar feel to a blade putter but in a mallet form
which makes it a highly versatile club that may suit a wider range of players
the feel off the face was solid and it offered up a surprisingly firm and loud sound at impact given the deep grooves on the face insert
we felt that the sandstone finish on the head looked fantastic and
it still manages to look elegant and premium
The one slight drawback is that it does reflect the sun more than we’d have liked
High MOI mallet putters have driven the shape of this sector for many years as the larger head size allows weight to be placed deep in the corners to maximise the resistance to twisting on off-centre hits
The latest designs take this to the next level
with multi-material heads that manage the weight distribution more effectively
yet still keep the putter light and easy to use
it's designed to feel as if it’s guiding itself on the correct path on the way back and through
That can be attributed to "Lie Angle Balance" technology
flat-bottom model in which the shaft connects right behind the front flange and directly into an oddly shaped ring that’s hollow in the middle
but you can get this in a stock or custom model
you can choose from standard-length or counterbalanced models in eight different colors
with a wide range of grip and upgraded shaft options
as it felt like the DF3 actually had a mind of its own
especially for those who typically use blades but
the head was not a visual distraction in any way
we were extremely impressed with how easy it was to control putt speed
Putts within three feet felt like near-automatic
The TaylorMade Spider is an iconic design that is now one of the most recognisable putters out there
Spider putters are popular with golfers of all skill levels and
TaylorMade has made lots of little tweaks and added plenty of wrinkles to its ever expanding range
the Spider Tour putter comes into its own on off-center strikes
as it helps to maintain the direction and control of the putt
It's worth mentioning that there are four head shapes available - Tour
but all four provide a high-MOI performance
The two areas that stood out for us were the soft feel and the high forgiveness
with our tester incredibly impressed by the performance on offer
The soft feel comes from the white TPU Pure Roll insert
which also provides a nice symmetry with the white True Path Alignment aid on the top of the crown
When it comes to the best Ping putters on the market
there is a huge variation of models and types
with one of the newer ones being the Ketsch G Putter
a forgiving mallet that is designed to inspire confidence when addressed down behind the ball
alignment lines on the crown and deep footprint combine to produce something which the majority of golfers will absolutely adore
traditional design of the head cover is very appealing too and
in terms of the visuals we can’t fault this putter at all
the benefit of the insert was visible and the feel off the face was very soft when compared with other models
although it had a ball retriever on the bottom of the putter
it is slightly redundant as the large head of the Ketsch means it is too big to fit in the hole
the looks and forgiveness make this a very viable option in the mallet putter department
The moment I pulled this putter out of the box ahead of testing I was in love - it's absolutely beautiful. As with all Toulon putters
I marvel at the quality at the craftsmanship on offer and the new 2025 series of putters is no different
A new Anthracite finish that has been introduced that provides a real premium look via the charcoal and grey tones
This putter performed well from distance but I thought it was excellent from within 10ft in particular
The small line on the top of the face was ideal for centering the ball and squaring the face up to my target
inspiring confidence within me before each knee-knocker putt
The $600 price tag (£599) may put some players off and understandably so
feel and aesthetics go a long way to justifying the price-tag
The TM22 boasts some excellent features which make it one of the most forgiving putters on the market
with Wilson surpassing themselves here by employing a clever use of milling lines to create visual differences for alignments
Constructed of a 304 block of stainless steel
it looks fantastic at the address position and frames the ball nicely against the club face
thanks to the fangs and different milling patterns you'll notice on the club
These alignment lines improve the overall aesthetic of this putter
while it's also great for those who have a small arc in their swing because of the slight overhang the club's hosel boasts
all of this meant we could really feel the premium feedback it delivers
even when the shot was slightly off center
Not shown above is the premium leather pistol handle that also comes with the club
which has some smart contouring around the upper part of the handle that will complement whatever grip style you employ
particularly helping players with shorter putts inside 10ft
The modern centre shafted design on this putter certainly takes some getting used to at first given the on set at address and built in 3.3° of shaft lean
but once comfortable I saw encouraging results with this putter from early on in testing
I also like the versa-style look and the three dots on the top of the crown to help with alignment
Not only did the extra weight and alignment aid helps me on shorter putts
but the computer-powered White Hot insert featuring variable face thickness to produce consistent ball speeds really helped me with my longer lag efforts from distance
If you find yourself struggling with distance control or more importantly starting the ball on line from shorter range
The Retreve is Cleveland’s first putter with the ability to pick the ball out of the hole
so it should certainly appeal to any golfer who has difficulty bending
Although Cleveland hasn’t produced a putter like this before
we think the HB SOFT 2 family of putters look a lot more premium than their price suggests
the milling on the face combined with the luxurious Pistol Grips scream out premium product and that look is matched by the sound and feel when you strike a putt
we were big fans of it and we felt the Retreve was a little firmer than other putters in the SOFT 2 family
possibly due to the ball shaped hole behind the face
it was a pleasing feel when we found the sweet spot and
we think there is something to be said for not having to bend and pick the ball out of the hole
The Bettinardi Queen B 11 Putter is one of the best looking putters money can buy
with its excellent bronze clubhead looking stunning behind the ball
there's also a Caramel Copper PVD finish that gives it a cool
rustic look that really makes it stand out from the competition
Although its shelf appeal and elegance is a real seller
what we really loved is how Bettinardi have also thought ahead
particularly in putting a glare-resistant finish on the clubhead that really came in useful when we took it out on the course on a sunny day
When it comes to product testing
The putter section is headed up by Sam De'Ath
while other members of the Golf Monthly team regularly contribute to the putter tests as well
and all writers are able to efficiently test the vast majority of the biggest product releases and convey the pros and cons eloquently
Getting into specifics, we test the putters outdoors on real greens with premium golf balls to get a thorough understanding of design features
We look to test across multiple different rounds of golf across different golf courses to really put each putter through their paces and to create a fairer test when it comes to the review itself - the more use we get of a putter
the more data we have to work with and a more informative review will come as a result
Not only do the putters get tested out on the golf course
Due to the fact Sam heads up our putters department
he also has the honor of testing the best putting mats on the market
This means Sam gets a lot of practice in from the comfort of his own home and thus
each putter he reviews gets a thorough workout both on and off the golf course
Our goal with our testing procedure and review ideology is simple and has remained the same for many years - we feel like we owe it to our loyal readership to deliver the most informative
Our level of trust we have build with our readers over years of reviews is of upmost importance to us and thus we want to keep it as high as possible
we simply call each product how we see it based on our knowledge of the club market
our experience testing these type of clubs and our passion for the game
nor can a manufacturer 'buy' a good review - we simply call it how we see it
When trying to find one of the best mallet putters
In our guide to the best putters on the market right now
we featured 18 putters that range in price
This tells you a little bit about the range of putters there are out there today but this can also help you narrow your search down a bit further
This comes down to factors like technology
Well it is up to you what size of mallet you want because some of the models above are large to aid MOI and forgiveness
whilst some others are more mid-mallet in shape and have smaller footprints
The putter has to inspire confidence so you have to enjoy looking down on it that's for sure
Manufacturers are aware of this and so have designed a wide range of looks to choose from and therefore you just need to look at the designs you like the aesthetics of
This is a really important factor to consider because on the market right now are a wide range of firm and soft feeling putters to choose from
One thing we do recommend is how fast or slow are the greens you play on
a firmer feeling face will suit you more whereas if you putt on ultra-fast greens a softer feel will work more efficiently and help you control distance
their stroke tends to be fairly straight back and through whereas some golfers tend to putt more in an arc
Finding out what kind of arc you have is vital to picking the right putter for your stroke

Ping’s new family of Heppler putters — with nine models in total — provide golfers who prefer a firm feel a variety of options. Golfers who want a soft feel with a face insert can look to Ping’s Sigma 2 series
but the Heppler family provides a different sensation
the new Heppler putters are machined with a solid-face construction
The blade putters in the series are made from all steel
while the mid-mallets and mallets use a multi-material design to increase MOI (moment of intertia) for better forgiveness
Some of the faces in the family are made from steel
while others are made from aluminum; the face material varies by model because of the overall design differences in each putter
we’re providing golfers a firmer-feeling putter in highly forgiving models to ensure a choice that fits their stroke and eye,” said Ping president John K
“We’ve chosen a very precise manufacturing process that’s significantly advanced our ability to create high-MOI mid-mallets and mallets by combining aerospace-grade aluminum with steel.”
The lightweight aluminum material used throughout the Heppler series is pressure-casted
and it combines with steel in order to create highly forgiving designs made with precision
“The advantage of pressure casting is we can achieve highly precise design details while allowing our engineers much greater freedom to position weight where it benefits the putter’s performance the most,” Solheim said
we improved the performance of existing models and developed two entirely new designs.”
The Heppler putter series consists of blades (Anser 2, ZB3), mid-mallets (Piper C, Piper Armlock) and mallets (Tyne 3, Fetch, Ketsch, Floki, Tomcat 14), each of which use a copper-and-black contrasting finish to help with alignment. They also feature Ping’s familiar adjustable-length system that allows golfers to easily change length from 32-to-36 inches
The new putter family is named after the late Rick Heppler
who started with Ping in 1966 and was hired by John A
Solheim to help build putters in the family garage
He passed away in a motorcycle accident in 2013
“Rick was part of the Ping family for almost 50 years,” Solheim said
“He was a dear friend who contributed greatly to our success in all that he did
Naming this putter series after him is a tribute to his dedication to our company and its employees.”
Below are photos and information about each of the new Heppler putters
From Ping: “Bearing the same heel-toe weighting that helped make the original Anser 2 so popular
The all-steel Heppler Anser 2 stands apart with color blocking that creates its own eye-pleasing alignment assistance.”
From Ping: “A larger section of the cavity was carved out and the heel-toe ballasts are larger than those in the ZB 2 to achieve a high MOI in this strong-arc blade
The alignment dot is a product of our research showing this cue makes aiming easier for strong-arc players.”
From Ping: “Players who prefer center-shafted putters will find the Piper C gives them a performance edge
and MOI is higher because of steel heel and toe weights integrated with the aluminum body
the ratio of aluminum to steel appears to be 50/50; in fact
From Ping: “To elevate MOI over the Sigma 2 Fetch
which has steel bordering the center cutout
then steel in the heel-toe ballasting for increasing forgiveness
The color contrasting helps golfers focus on the alignment lines
causing the holed-out section to fade and not be the primary focus.”
half-aluminum Ketsch nearly doubles the MOI of the Ping Vault 2.0 Ketsch
it effectively utilizes multi-material construction
and is the only putter in the family with three alignment lines
From Ping: “The strong-arc mallet is enjoying popularity
and the Floki expands a player’s fitting options while boasting the second-highest MOI in the Heppler line
Significant steel around the perimeter prevents twisting and its copper color contrasted against the black aluminum is designed to inspire confidence.”
From Ping: “Airport runway lights inspired the alignment dots in the highest-MOI model in the Heppler family
The back ballasts are cored out and steel filled in this half-steel
From Ping: “A mid-mallet is the predominant putter style among armlock players for its desirable head shape
The difference is a double-bend shaft (standard length is 41.5 inches) and it attaches heel-side as opposed to the center
Looking to upgrade your flatstick for the upcoming summer
So here are the five putter deals I have chosen
The new and improved TaylorMade Spider Tour putters offer maximum forgiveness
If you are thinking of changing your putter this year then this is certainly worth considering
SOFT (Speed Optimized Face Technology) is a unique face-milling pattern which has been specifically engineered to preserve ball speed on off center strikes
this pattern is different on each of the putters in the SOFT 2 family as the unique milling is based on that specific putter’s center of gravity
The face features an aggressive milling pattern in the center of the face and as you move more to the sides the milling is less intense
This means at the extremities more material is in contact with the ball
which means less drop off in speed between well struck and mishit putts
The Retreve has a soft feel and I especially enjoyed the consistency in distance control
you can retrieve your ball from the hole or from the putting surface which makes it an excellent option for the senior golfer or anyone with back issues who has trouble bending
Don't be put off by the 'gimmicky' shape as this putter gives a lot of bang for your buck
When it comes to the best value putters I genuinely feel that Cleveland is a match for anybody
The original HB SOFT range which was launched in 2018 has been a big favorite at Golf Monthly for many years and the HB SOFT 2 family which came out in 2024 version did not disappoint
The milled face pattern explained above is a real highlight and really adds to the feel and consistency
The Model 1 isn't the most forgiving putter out there
but the accomplished golfer who can regularly find close to the middle of the putter face will enjoy the feel and performance
Higher handicap players and beginners would be better served looking at other putters in the HB SOFT 2 family
such as the HB SOFT 2 Retreve mentioned above
If you like a traditional blade shaped design though then this is a great option at the price
This is one of the best value for money blade putters out there
The milled face provides good feedback as well as giving a nice soft feel and a true roll
It has a premium look and feel but doesn't carry a premium price tag
Definitely one to consider if you're thinking of shaking up your bag with a new putter
Aesthetically the Ketsch ticks every box for me
In addition to the exceptional levels of forgiveness
the feel and sound that comes from the insert is really appealing too
while I would also point out that the alignment aid is first class and should really offer assistance to golfers who struggle to get their putts on line
large footprint and excellent alignment assistance makes the Ketsch an excellent putter for beginner golfers or those who just need that bit of reassurance to boos confidence when standing over the ball
Combining premium aesthetics with exceptional forgiveness and a soft feel
the 2024 Ping Ketsch G putter is a top quality option for golfers who need a little assistance on the greens
Basically this is an Anser putter with a deeper profile (hence the ‘D’ in the name) so it offers that little bit more forgiveness and alignment help than you would get from the original Anser design
I fell in love with this putter when I tested it and was so upset at having to give it back that I went out and bought one soon after
I'm not even a blade guy as I don't have the touch and feel to use them effectively
but the Anser D plays more like a mid-mallet and it really suited my eye
The contrast of the raw blast stainless steel head against the black composite shaft really gives it a premium look
while for me there is no more visually-appealing putter grip than the classic 'Ping man' design
Over the ball it looks great as the deeper profile inspires confidence and the silver and black combination is really pleasing
If you are struggling with your blade putter but don't want to switch to a mallet
The 2024 Ping Anser D putter is a slightly different adaptation of the classic Anser design and offers a little more help and forgiveness than a standard blade
The deeper profile provides the golfer with some of the alignment help and forgiveness of a mallet putter without sacrificing any of the aesthetic appeal of the traditional Anser
