The Bundeswehr is procuring Yamaha Ténéré 700 motorcycles
The Bundeswehr announced on its website on 6 February that it is procuring Yamaha Ténéré 700 motorcycles built in France
The Bundeswehr's Kraftfahrausbildungszentrum Kümmersbruck motor vehicle training centre is one of the first units to have received the motorcycles
Thirty-eight vehicles have been delivered to the centre
which will begin training candidates for a military version of a Class A driver's licence starting in April
They will be trained in driving on uneven terrain and sand
and using maps and compasses to orient themselves
the six weeks of training will include driving off-road and technical instruction
The steel frame of the new motorcycle offers controlled and responsive handling and an adjustable suspension
and its large spoked wheels provide plenty of ground clearance and comfortable seating for standing or sitting riders on and off-road
The motorcycle's lightweight fairing is designed to protect against harsh environmental effects
the motorcycle has heated grips and its lights can be switched off completely
In 2019 the Bundeswehr procured 84 BMW F 850 GS motorcycles for the German Army's Panzerlehrbrigade (Armour Demonstration Brigade) 9
