Fan-filmed video footage of STEVE GRIMMETT'S GRIM REAPER
the revamped version of the cult '80s British metal act GRIM REAPER
peforming on April 27 at the Keep It True XXI festival at Tauberfrankenhalle in Lauda-Königshofen
STEVE GRIMMETT'S GRIM REAPER lead singer Steve Grimmett had his right leg partially amputated in January 2017 after an infected wound on his foot spread to the bones in his leg part way through the group's five-week tour of South America
The life-saving surgery was carried out in Ecuador and the 58-year-old singer was in hospital for just over a month while fans raised $14,000 to bring him home after his insurance company refused to pay because of the type of work he was doing
"It was tough but throughout it all I have kept a positive attitude," Steve told the Swindon Advertiser
I was thinking of the soldiers who come back from war far worse than me
"I am a big war bird buff and I thought of Sir Douglas Bader and what he achieved without either of his legs
I felt a bit down because I missed [my wife] Millie and my family
it could be amusing: fans were coming in to see me and I could tell when the medical workers were using the Internet to check me out because I'd hear them playing my songs."
Grimmett told the Swindon Advertiser: "What's happened has been very humbling
especially when I consider the number of people who have helped me
What's happened has taught me not to be impatient and to make the most out of life."
Grimmett reformed GRIM REAPER in 2006 as STEVE GRIMMETT'S GRIM REAPER following an amicable decision between the singer and original GRIM REAPER guitarist Nick Bowcott
who both agreed that using the original name minus the other members of the classic lineup wouldn't be a proper reunion

Fan-filmed video footage of the reunited original lineup of ROCK GODDESS — the female power trio from the days of NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) featuring sisters Jody and Julie Turner along with bassist Tracey Lamb — performing on April 29 at this year's edition of the Keep It True festival in Lauda-Königshofen
Speaking about ROCK GODDESS's forthcoming comeback album
which was originally supposed to be titled "Unfinished Business"
Lamb told MetalTalk: "We've got a track the same name
but we've decided to call it something else
Jody said: "It's produced by me and someone else
Whether another producer comes in at the end
Lamb previously said that the new material "is sounding mega and awesome" and added that playing the band's classic songs feels "weird but wonderful."
ROCK GODDESS was formed in 1977 in Wandsworth South London by Jody Turner (guitar and vocals) and Julie Turner (drums) when they were thirteen and nine years old
They recruited school friend Tracey Lamb on bass guitar
ROCK GODDESS first rose to the nation's awareness when they were first featured in Kerrang
5 in 1981 in the "Armed And Ready" section as one of the bands to watch out for
After recording a four-track demo tape and an appearance at the Reading Festival in 1982
the band landed a contract with the A&M label
They recorded their eponymous debut album with producer Vic Maile in 1983 and hit the lower end of the charts
by which time Lamb had left the band to form SHE and later to join GIRLSCHOOL
After their contract with A&M expired in 1987
ROCK GODDESS' already recorded (in 1985) third album
The effort saw the band taking on a more commercial sound
ROCK GODDESS' career was cut short by financial and contractual problems
which forced them to disband shortly thereafter
ROCK GODDESS did briefly reform in 2009 and was due to play Hard Rock Hell festival in Prestatyn
and was also booked to perform at the Headbangers Open Air festival in Germany the following summer
but split before they had a chance to appear at either event
it was announced that the original ROCK GODDESS lineup of Jody Turner
Julie Turner and Tracey Lamb had reunited and would start recording a new album
Cult 1980s San Francisco Bay Area power metal act HEXX (formerly PARADOX) has reformed and will play at the Keep It True festival
HEXX's current ineup is Dan Watson (guitar),Bill Peterson (bass),Dennis Manzo (vocals) and Gary Gutfield (drums)
They will perform songs from their first two albums
1984's "No Escape" and 1986's "Under The Spell"
both of which were released through the Shrapnel label
HEXX has just completed work on a new demo featuring the songs "Left For Dead"
produced by longtime friend — and former METAL CHURCH guitarist — John Marshall
HEXX is looking for a label home and plans on recording a new album that is stylistically similar to the band's first two LPs
Japanese heavy metal veterans LOUDNESS have canceled their previously announced European tour
The trek was most recently scheduled to kick off on April 6 in Essen
Germany and conclude on April 22 at the Keep It True festival in Lauda-Königshofen
On March 23, LOUDNESS released the following statement via the band's official web site (translated from Japanese): "As already announced by the local agent
the European tour scheduled for next month has been cancelled
It was a tour that was planned three years ago
but also various expenses have skyrocketed
and there has been a shortage of human resources
It was a painful decision based on the judgment above
"We are very sorry to all the fans who have been waiting for the band for three years
we would like to reorganize and return in front of everyone in Europe in a state where we can deliver the best performance
please check with the [ticketing agent] where you purchased your ticket."
a number of high-profile musicians have been vocal about the realities of post-pandemic touring
DISTURBED guitarist Dan Donegan told the Rock 100.5 The KATT radio station about the prospect of his band touring Europe: "It's been challenging for a lot of bands too
especially over in Europe… I know that SHINEDOWN had to postpone their tour
'Cause a lot of that stuff has skyrocketed on prices on
fuel costs and production costs and trucking costs and travel."
FEAR FACTORY guitarist Dino Cazares told the "Vulgar Display Of Podcast": "So much has changed in those couple of years
because look how much the economy has gotten really
with gas and even availability on certain things
People really don't understand the cost that goes into doing these tours
whether it's venues taking a big cut of the merch sales to insane diesel and gas prices
A lot of people don't realize that these buses take diesel
when you're spending eight hundred to a thousand dollars just to fill up a tank of a bus
songwriter and producer Devin Townsend painted an equally bleak picture
telling Metallerium about the current touring conditions: "It's gotten way worse
with inflation and the cost of gasoline and diesel… Plus
I'd say probably 50 percent of the workforce in touring has now left
'Cause what's a guitar tech gonna do for two years
not only are they already spoken for with other bands
"I saw this thing about [the events ticketing giant] Live Nation the other day
they're taking 30 percent of merch sales from some of these venues," he continued
the ability to make money on tour is almost completely gone now — at least an artist on my level
the hotels are more expensive; the food at the hotels [is] more expensive
You're touring ultimately so you can present your work to the people who care about your work
But I think for anybody to think that it's now easy again
because I'm trying to set up tours for [2023]
and there's no way to keep them within cost — there's no way
we can't have this vehicle; we can't have this backline; we can't have this production; we can't have these lights
And then if you show up at a place and the audience comes
There's no production.' So what should you do
I'll just stay home then and I'll just create from home.'
because that way I can afford it," Devin added
"If I just show up with an acoustic guitar and sing for people
was released in July 2022 outside Japan via earMUSIC
The effort was originally made available in Japan in December 2021
LOUDNESS has dominated the Japanese heavy metal scene ever since its birth in 1981 with classic albums like "Thunder In The East" (1985) and "Lightning Strikes" (1986)
LOUDNESS's lineup has changed multiple times since 1981
with the current incarnation consisting of three original members — lead singer Minoru Niihara
guitarist Akira Takasaki and bassist Masayoshi Yamashita — along with drummer Masayuki Suzuki
Original LOUDNESS drummer Munetaka Higuchi died in 2008 after a year-long battle with liver cancer

Cyriis and his new bandmates "are ready to deliver a speed metal supernova to those who choose to attend this mighty day of metal glory
The new AGENT STEEL band will deliver a neck-breaking set of quilted gems from the three classic AGENT STEEL albums as well as a performance bonus of four new songs
hand-picked from the all-new forthcoming AGENT STEEL album titled '8 Lights Protocol'
tentatively scheduled for a September 2019 release on a soon-to-be-announced record label."
AGENT STEEL is a speed metal band from Los Angeles
They released two classic full-length albums and one EP with Cyriis on vocals — "Skeptics Apocalypse" (1985),"Mad Locust Rising" EP (1985) and "Unstoppable Force" (1987) — before disbanding in 1988
Cyriis's high-pitched vocals and lyrical topics of UFOs
alien abductions and differential anthropology were unique signature trademarks not often heard in heavy metal songwriting at the time
AGENT STEEL later reformed in 1999 without Cyriis but diehard underground metal fans have been holding out hopes for a reunion ever since his departure
Cyriis returned to the group in 2010 after a 23-year absence and performed at the Thrash Domination festival in Tokyo
The singer's appearance with AGENT STEEL at Keep It True festival in Germany in April 2011 was canceled
the rest of the bandmembers performed under the moniker MASTERS OF METAL with replacement singer Rick Mythiasin (STEEL PROPHET)
The band played with Cyriis fronting the band again at the 2011 edition of the Sweden Rock Festival (see video below)
American progressive power metal legends FATES WARNING will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their "Awaken The Guardian" album with an exclusive headlining live appearance at the 2016 edition of the Keep It True festival
set to take place in April 2016 in Lauda-Konigshofen
The band — in its original "Awaken The Guardian" lineup
featuring John Arch (vocals),Jim Matheos (guitar),Frank Aresti (guitar),Joe DiBiase (bass) and Steve Zimmerman (drums) — will play the complete LP
as well as other songs from the Arch era of FATES WARNING
This will be an exclusive European show and the first time FATES WARNING will perform an old-school set with Arch on vocals
For more information, go to this location
Metal Blade Records in 2005 released an expanded edition of the "Awaken the Guardian" album
The three-disc set — consisting of two CDs and one DVD — included remastered versions of the album's original eight tracks
and a DVD featuring live footage from 1986
Arch stated about the songwriting process for "Awaken The Guardian": "The music came first and we'd work on that music until it really got flowing
Sometimes Jim would write parts that were designed for a lead and I would listen to it and say
I think I could write something vocally really nice over that.' He would give me that part and then he would write a lead part
where we would put the songs together and they started to flow
and then the lyrics came in and then the song would sort of inspire me
1 o'clock in the morning with the headphones on
I'd just close my eyes and use my imagination
I had kind of a theme or a topic to write around
and I always wanted to have something from beginning to end
That's why it seems so busy; there was so much crammed into one song just because of the way we wrote
That's why it would be hard for me today to write anything where I would just sit down and just write lyrics and then write music around it
That would be ass-backwards compared to what it used to be like."

Da sei also noch keine Entwarnung in Sicht
