After 10 years without an appearance in a European club competition TBV Lemgo Lippe are back on track and will compete in group B of the EHF European League Men Lemgo beat Icelandic club Valur in both legs were drawn in an extremely tough group that includes HBC Nantes Most important question: Can Lemgo proceed to the knockout stage but we are ready to take the challenge of facing some of Europe’s strongest teams," said coach Florian Kehrmann after the draw But Lemgo’s problem is that they have not played any European matches since 2011 Many players – such as the Spanish Guardiola brothers Swedish World Championship silver medallist Jonathan Carlsbogard and Icelandic wing Bjarki Mar Elisson – have gained international experience with their national teams and former clubs It will be thrilling to see how they function as a team particularly as Lemgo have not been among the best six German clubs in recent seasons it is a new experience to take part in an international competition we have a good chance to reach the do-or-die-matches," said team captain Andrej Kogut son of former Russian international Boris Kogut Gedeon Guardiola in the centre block or new arrivals Lukas Hutecek and Carlsbogard at left back they lack experience – such as in goal with their goalkeeping duo of Peter Johannesson and Finn Zecher Lemgo's hopes were higher before the group phase draw than afterwards But manager Jörg Zereike is still confident: "We want to go as far as we can team and staff will give their best to be as successful as possible." The whole club is eager to show their face in an international competition again "We have not been in this competition – which we won twice in 2006 and 2010 – for about 10 years Being a part of it now is a milestone for your club," said Zereike Team captain Andrej Kogut hopes for a boost from the stands: "Our biggest motivation this season is to play in front of full halls and many spectators We are very glad that our fans can be back in our arena." Kogut also knows that "it is quite difficult to name favourites in this European League season because there are many teams on a high level Much will depend on the daily form of the teams." Three veteran Spanish line players who are defence aces will compete in the EHF European League Men: Viran Morros (Füchse Berlin) Julen Aguinagalde (Bidasoa Irun) and Gedeon Guardiola (TBV Lemgo Lippe) as he left Rhein Neckar Löwen after eight years to join Lemgo – and in his first season he won the German Cup and qualified for the European League again Gedeon is reunited with his brother Isaias with whom he left Spain to start a new career in Germany the two-time EHF EURO winner and former world champion is still among the best defenders in the world and he finished his national team career this summer with a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games TBV Lemgo Lippe did not miss a European club season Lemgo won three European titles and their best Champions League result was reaching the semi-finals in 1997/98 when they were eliminated by subsequent winners FC Barcelona eventual champions Celje Pivovarna Laško beat Lemgo in the quarter-finals 44-year-old Florian Kehrmann has been a part of TBV Lemgo Lippe After arriving at the club as a player in 1999 He began his coaching career in 2013 as coach of the second team and became head coach of the Bundesliga team in 2014 Winning the German Cup in June was Kehrmann's first trophy as a coach The five-time major international championship medallist is a club legend Departures: Dani Baijens (ASV Hamm-Westfalen) Mark van den Beucken (Tophandboll Kristiansand) EHF Champions League:Semi-final (1): 1997/98Quarter-final (2): 2003/04 Others:Cup Winners' Cup: Winners (1): 1995/96EHF Cup: Winners (2): 2005/06 FEATURE: Thüringer HC left back becomes MVP and top scorer of EHF Finals Women after netting 29 times in Graz SUMMARY: Thüringer HC are crowned in Graz as the new EHF European League Women champions following an intense final against Ikast Håndbold FLASH QUOTES: Comments from players and coaches after the EHF Finals Women 2025 final and third place match FINAL REVIEW: THC come from behind to beat Ikast 34:32 at the EHF Finals in Graz THIRD-PLACE MATCH REVIEW: The French side beat their opponents from Germany at the EHF Finals Women FINAL PREVIEW: Ikast Håndbold meet Thüringer HC in final; Blomberg and Dijon play for third place SUMMARY: Ikast Håndbold and Thüringer HC celebrated semi-final wins in Graz as they get ready for the final on Sunday SEMI-FINAL REVIEW: The German side beat Dijon 35:29 in the second semi-final of the EHF Finals Women FLASH QUOTES: Comments from players and coaches after the EHF Finals Women 2025 semi-finals SEMI-FINAL REVIEW: The 2023 champions are back in the final of the EHF Finals Women in Graz You do not have access to www.researchgate.net The site owner may have set restrictions that prevent you from accessing the site 3 Years 439000 1310000 USD1million-USD2million Already a member? Now, thanks to artificial intelligence, German researchers have found a way to reduce time spent at intersections, according to Extreme Tech This innovation is now being tested in the small German town of Lemgo with exciting results. Called the KI4LSA project, and funded by the Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure scientists first studied algorithms taken from a busy intersection to learn about traffic patterns and where improvements were most needed There is a great necessity to speed up waiting times at intersections as conventional methods are inflexible and cannot interpret all traffic flow patterns, according to a press release by the Fraunhofer Institute Interpreting traffic in real-time The new AI method uses radar sensors and high-resolution cameras to interpret traffic patterns in real-time They can determine the speed of traffic as well as waiting times and combine this with self-learning algorithms They are currently trying this out at a busy intersection in Lemgo with encouraging results The intelligent lights are said to improve traffic flow by 10 to 15 percent, which results in money saved; the EU estimates that traffic jams create economic damage that adds up to 100 billion euros a year, according to the press release. Aside from reducing commuting time, these traffic lights will reduce noise and CO2 emissions from cars idling at intersections Another exciting development in this research is the K14PED project, which studies pedestrians crossing intersections. Using AI, researchers can ascertain how many people are waiting at a pedestrian crossing and whether some of these people will need extra time to cross the street, reported Car Scoops they can tell if someone has disabilities or is elderly without identifying the individual Longer crossing times for pedestrians with special needs since pedestrian buttons that are presently at intersections cannot determine if some people have special needs or are elderly Such a needs-based system could reduce pedestrian waiting time by 30 percent which could then decrease jaywalking by 25 percent Testing will be done until the summer of 2022 in the German towns of Lemgo and Bielefeld with researchers optimistic that it will be adopted abroad “We are the first team in the world to test deep reinforcement learning for traffic light control under real-world conditions And we hope that our project will inspire others to similar endeavors.” Scientist Arthur Müller told Fraunhofer This technology is exciting news for pedestrians and drivers alike and may even give you more time to enjoy your morning coffee before heading off to work YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE: Miami Rewards Residents For Leaving Their Cars at Home Belgian Capital Offers Free Transportation to Cut Pollution This New Pavement Spray Could Bring TLC to Cities! self-learning algorithms combined with new sensors should ensure better traffic flow and shorter waiting times while providing improved safety for pedestrians at crossings the city of Lemgo (associated) and Straßen NRW (associated) The German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) is funding the project Conventional traffic lights utilise rule-based controls but this rigid approach does not work for all traffic situations the sensors currently in use — induction loop technology embedded in the road surface — provide only a rough impression of the actual traffic situation The researchers at Fraunhofer IOSB-INA are working to address these problems they are employing high-resolution cameras and radar sensors to more precisely capture the actual traffic situation This allows the number of vehicles waiting at a junction to be determined accurately in real time The technology also detects the average speed of the cars and the waiting times at any current moment The real-time sensors are combined with AI which replaces the usual rigid control rules The AI uses deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithms a method of machine learning that focuses on finding intelligent solutions to complex control problems to build a realistic simulation and trained the AI on countless iterations within this model project manager and scientist at the Fraunhofer IOSB-INA we added the traffic volume measured during rush hour into the model This resulted in an agent trained using deep reinforcement learning: a neural network that represents the lights control.” The algorithms trained in this way calculate the optimum switching behaviour for the traffic lights and the best phase sequence to shorten waiting times at the junction reduce journey times and thus lower the noise and CO2 pollution caused by queuing traffic A main advantage of the algorithms is that they can be tested used and scaled up to include neighbouring lights that form a wider network The simulation phases carried out on the congested Lemgo junction demonstrated that the use of AI could improve traffic flow by 10% to 15% the trained agent will now take to the streets for further evaluation in a real-life laboratory This testing will also consider the influence of the traffic metrics on parameters such as noise pollution and emissions the unavoidable ‘simulation to reality gap’ presents a challenge “The assumptions about traffic behaviour that were used in the simulation are not a 1:1 representation of reality the agent will need to be adjusted accordingly,” Müller explained Just think of the large number of traffic lights even in a small town like Lemgo.” The EU estimates that traffic jams cause economic damage totalling to $100bn per year for its member states AI traffic lights provide an opportunity to use our existing infrastructure more efficiently “We are the first team in the world to test deep reinforcement learning for traffic light control under real-world conditions And we hope that our project will inspire others to similar endeavours,” added Müller The ‘KI4PED’ project focuses on pedestrians rather than vehicles In a project scheduled to run until the end of July 2022 Fraunhofer IOSB-INA is working together with Stührenberg GmbH and associated partners Straßen NRW in the city of Lemgo and the city of Bielefeld to develop an innovative approach for the needs-based control of pedestrian signals This is estimated to be particularly beneficial for vulnerable people such as older people or those with disabilities The aim is to reduce waiting times and improve safety at pedestrian crosswalks by enabling longer crossing times the ‘walk’ times are too short for these groups of people do not deliver any information about the number or age of crossers The project partners want to use AI in combination with high-resolution LiDAR sensors to automate the process and automatically adjust and increment the crossing times according to the needs of the pedestrians The AI performs person detection and tracking based on data from LiDAR sensors and applies it in an embedded system in real time we are using LiDAR sensors rather than camera-based systems,” explained Dr Dennis Sprute project manager and scientist at Fraunhofer IOSB-INA “These present the pedestrians as 3D point-clouds meaning that they cannot be individually identified.” LiDAR sensors (light detection and ranging) emit pulsed light waves into the surrounding environment which bounce off nearby objects and return to the sensor The sensor measures the time it takes for the light to return to calculate the distance it travelled to the object These sensors are also resistant to the influences of light A feasibility study will be carried out to determine the optimum positions and alignment at the crossing The AI algorithms will initially be trained for a week at two stoplight crossings in Lemgo and Bielefeld Sensors tests are also planned on the Fraunhofer IOSB-INA site using various simulated light conditions to determine the detection capabilities By using a needs-based control concept adapted to the individual situation the research partners hope to reduce the waiting times when there are lots of people waiting by 30% They also aim to reduce the number of incidents of jaywalking by around 25% Δdocument.getElementById( fast-charging site into operation The site in Lemgo in the mid-northwest of the country has six charging points at two DC charging posts that offer up to 200 kW of charging power Deutsche Telekom is using the existing infrastructure of its properties to expand the number of charging points. The telecommunications company began building its nationwide network of up to 12,000 public charging stations in the latter half of 2018. Of these around 500 were planned as fast charging stations Telekom’s interim milestone now only refers to fast-charging locations which do not allow any conclusions to be drawn about the overall number of fast-charging stations or charging points the Group emphasizes the advantages of rolling out at its own properties noting that there is often no need for additional construction work since power and data lines are already in place The German company says that the publicly accessible DC charging stations are supplied exclusively with certified green power The DC locations of Telekom can be found by means of a list The locations are distributed among the federal states as follows: Baden-Württemberg (11 locations) Telekom also identifies AC charging stations in Berlin (5) In addition to the publicly accessible charging network, Telekom is also setting up a charging network exclusively for its employees through its subsidiary Comfortcharge GmbH with “Charge@Work”. claimed to be capable of improving traffic flow from 10-15 per cent at least when tested in computer simulations Said to be the first real-world test of AI-managed traffic lights the Lemgo lights are capable of "deep reinforcement learning" and are said to get better with age as its on-board AI learns how to reduce waiting times The lights were created by Munich-based Fraunhofer Institute for Optronics and work by using both HD cameras and radar sensors to enable the computers to understand traffic flow at the intersection The AI then devises a plan to optimise a signal pattern to help traffic run smoothly computer simulations found the lights facilitate shorter waiting times that led to reduced localised air pollution compared to conventional lights But their ability to learn real-world testing should continue to improve on the initial findings As well as helping cars, the same technology has been developed to help pedestrians cross a busy road The same sensors that gauge traffic flow are also capable of counting how many pedestrians are waiting and can arrange a slot to stop traffic the same cameras can assess individual pedestrian needs If the traffic lights spot you're in a wheelchair it lengthens the time needed for you to safely make it to the other side of the road Researchers say the needs-based system can reduce waiting times by up to 30 per cent when there's a small crowd waiting to cross It's also estimated to reduce jaywalking by up to 25 per cent Rhein-Neckar Lowen bounce back from their defeat at the hands of THW Kiel with a superb away krone.at about his success at last year's European Championship being named Austria's rising star of the year and his expectations for the upcoming major event "Krone": 74 balls saved at the European Handball Championships the move to Germany to join Lemgo Lippe and now the award for Austria's Promoted Player of the Year What do you remember about this eventful year?Möstl: 2024 can only be summed up in one word: incredible It started with the European Championships and things are also going pretty well in Germany The fact that I was then voted Newcomer of the Year in the athletes' poll is something really special You've been in the box for TBV Lemgo Lippe since the summer A big step in your career ...Of course it was an adjustment at first I had to get used to no longer living in Austria who has helped me a lot to integrate into the team we're all about the same age in the team and have the same charm That's the reason why I feel so comfortable here why things are going so well at the moment you're currently eighth in the German goalkeeping table and you've long since become a fan favorite at Lemgo Where are you headed with your new club?I'm a dreamer and would of course love to play in the Europa League If we finish in the top six at the end of the season the bond with the club is very strong - perhaps not on a personal level but the family relationship in the team helps me enormously In Kürze bekommen Sie eine Bestätigungs-Mail von uns you were named Austria's promoted player of the year What significance does the award have for you?I found out via Instagram that I had been nominated for some sportsperson's award and then sent my mom a screenshot and asked her whether it was really THE sportsperson's award It wasn't until we googled it that we got confirmation At first I just thought it was cool to be part of it I only realized after a few days that I was able to win the trophy as a handball player and how big this award is I'm incredibly grateful and also very proud You put the finishing touches to your preparations for the World Cup with the four-nation tournament in Poland How nice is it for you to be back on the court in the ÖHB jersey? It's always something special the situation is different for me this time than in previous years I can now really help the team and have already shown that I can do that I was still hoping to get a few minutes on the pitch but now the fans are expecting parade after parade The pressure has grown - as has the hype surrounding Constantin Möstl Is that a factor that spurs you on?It's a give and take The fans and the team don't expect a hop-or-drop Möstl The pressure is much greater as a result - including from myself Last year's European Championship was great but we have to stay grounded and look from game to game I know that not everything will always work out and that I won't be able to give my best performance in every game so I have to learn to deal with the pressure The fans and the team don't expect a hop-or-drop Möstl but a consistent one who can win them games you caused numerous sensations against Spain A success that is still fresh in your minds after a year?On an emotional level the European Championship was the greatest thing we've ever achieved with the national team which won't be easy as we've set the bar so high for 2024 It was an exceptional tournament in which some players overperformed secondly fond memories and thirdly the push to get there again Austria entered the main round as group underdogs Three nations against whom how much is possible?Basically we have to aim for second place in the group How far will the journey take us?If everything goes well This article has been automatically translated, read the original article here
