Series tied as handballers lose in Metzingen | OneFootballBorussia Dortmund
as Metzingen emerged worthy winners from a thrilling encounter with a final score of 36-32
The Frenchwoman came into the game in the second half and netted six goals
The scenario: After winning the first leg 32-28 a week ago, a win in game two in Metzingen would see BVB qualify for a place in the semi-finals
there are no draws and goal difference is irrelevant
two key players were not in the squad in Metzingen on Saturday: goalkeeper Sarah Wachter is sidelined with a knee injury
Everything seemed to be going perfectly. After Tess Lieder saved a seven-metre penalty against Selina Kalmbach, BVB increased the lead to 10-5 thanks to another successful pass from Alicia Langer to the well-positioned centre
Lisa Antl - who also scored her fourth goal
However, the game was far from over. Metzingen settled into the flow of things around 20 minutes in, successfully managing to cut out the passes to Lisa Antl in the pivot and reduce the deficit to 14-11 (23). BVB were increasingly being frustrated by goalkeeper Lea Schupbach
Sandra Erlingsdóttir reduced the deficit to 14-12 four minutes before the break
before Svenja Hübner equalised with 60 seconds left in the first half to tie things up at 14-14
Black & Yellows went into the break with their noses in front at 15-14
The picture changed after the break. Henk Groener brought on Kelly Vollebregt and Deborah Lassource for Alicia Langer, who sat on the bench for the rest of the period. The home side were now better in attack against a faltering BVB defence and pulled 21-19 ahead in the 37th minute. BVB were letting the game slip out of their hands
It was time for Henk Groener to call a timeout and tell his team to prepare for the final 16 minutes: ‘Stay calm
The intervention paid off. The 6-0 defensive formation led to a marked improvement, Deborah Lassource scored a quickfire double to tie the game at 24-24 (46), then Dana Bleckmann put BVB back in front at 25-24
Reactions: Henk Groener: "We just can't manage to consistently deliver a good performance over 60 minutes
we lost our way from the 20th minute onwards
then squandered good chances up top and finally let the hectic pace get to us when we gave the ball away 15 seconds before the final whistle
Now we have to look to decide things in our favour in the third game next Saturday."
Outlook: The deciding game against TuS Metzingen will take place on Saturday, 3 May, in the Halle Wellinghofen. Should BVB qualify for the semi-finals
their opponents will be HSG Blomberg-Lippe
HSG also prevailed 29-26 in the second game in Oldenburg on Saturday

Just 23,000 inhabitants small and yet world-famous: Metzingen has established a name for itself in international fashion that few other cities have achieved
a large selection of premium and luxury brands attracts fashion lovers from all over the world to Outletcity
How this success story unfolded has been on display since June 25 in The Museum at Ka-nalstraße 6
which is also the originating location for Outletcity Metzingen
It is a museum which Outletcity Metzingen presents as a piece of the city's history and the mutual relationship between the destination and the city.
Outletcity Metzingen: the city of textiles
home to many and also where the world-renowned Hugo Boss company resides
the museum sheds light on the history from three different perspectives
The exhibition can be experienced through various senses and is addressed to a wide audience
The information is presented on several levels
"The multidimensional modes of interaction reflect the diversity of Metzingen
The guests can look forward to discovering new knowledge and diving deep into the emotions of exciting stories," says Regine Schöllkopf-Pinakidis
The Building's MeaningThe Museum is housed in a building constructed in 1877 that later became the Hugo Boss factory
which also housed the Boss and Holy family
the first Hugo Boss factory outlet in Germany is opened and gains fame beyond the city's boundary
my favourite place at Outletcity is the old factory on Ka-nalstraße
Here is where the deepest stories are rooted
and the changes to the city and Outletcity can be best seen
That is why I was particularly happy about our realising The Museum
The building itself is by far not the largest or architecturally the most demanding
but for me it is the most unusual and most valuable in terms of overall development," adds Wolfgang Bauer
Museum Concept In cooperation with the agency
the creative team planned and realised the museum exhibi-tion
for example so-called "audio showers" tell the stories and personal thoughts on the different threads of history from the perspective of various Metzingen personalities like Uwe Holy (grandson of Hugo Boss) and Wolfgang Bauer
The city's chronology is broken down into milestones that help to define the three threads of history selectively and forcefully depicted in three colours
The history of Metzingen and Outletcity can be experienced through large format pictures and small details
headlines of old newspaper articles and an interactive media table which also shows a time warp of the city layout
Renovation The planning for the building renovations began as soon as the Hugo Boss Outlet stores moved to Hugo Boas Platz in late 2019
The floor area of the complete building is 1,398m?
In cooperation with the renowned blocher partners architectural firm
the plans for the building's redesign were laid and the renovation took 15 months
"Because the building was in unexpectedly poor condition after 124 years
the list worthy building needed to have some of its parts replaced or reinforced," shares Wolfgang Bauer
Almost all of the companies involved in the project are located nearby
The Gallery Parallel to the Museum's kick-off
is showing an exhibition by the artist Romulo Kuranyi until June 29"
His works are impressive and immediately recognisable thanks to his unique style

Borussia Dortmund won the first game of the German handball Bundesliga's playoff quarterfinals with a valuable victory
giving them an advantage in advancing to the semifinals
Dortmund won 32-28 against TuS Metzingen in the first round of the Bundesliga Women's Playoff in the 2024/25 season at Sporthalle Wellinghofen in Dortmund on the 20th (local time)
Early in the game was led by away team Metzingen
Based on the fast tempo and the organization of the central defense
he pushed Dortmund to a 4-0 lead six minutes into the game
Dana Bleckmann scored Dortmund's first goal
It was definitely goalkeeper Tess Lieder who changed the trend afterwards
three consecutive decisive saves turned the mood around
and Dortmund gradually regained the rhythm of the attack around the backcourt
and Lena Degenhardt scored back-to-back goals to end the first half 14–14
Dortmund took the first lead with Lara Egeling's score and Carmen Campos Costa's success in a seven-meter shot
and took full control of the flow of the game
The man of the match was definitely Tess Leader
she produced a rare scene in which she scored directly even though she was a goalkeeper
Metzingen failed to continue the sharpness of his fastball and pass play in the first half
and goalkeeper Lea Schupbach also made nine saves
but it was not enough to reverse the flow of the game
Borussia Dortmund's Alicia Langer said on the team's website
we were in such a hurry and made a lot of mistakes
the goal is to improve the problems in the first half in the next game on Saturday
and to secure a place in the semifinals," he said
Borussia Dortmund will finish the series early and advance to the semifinals if they win the second game on the 27th

Handballers win first play-off game against Metzingen | OneFootballBorussia Dortmund
The scenario: Borussia had three wins from four games before the international break and went into the quarter-final series against Metzingen with a positive feeling
TuS lost their last four games before the internationals and used the break to focus on the play-offs
Borussia won both league clashes: 33-29 at home and 32-30 in Metzingen
Personnel matters: Sarah Wachter was missing for BVB due to a hip injury sustained in the German national team's international match against Denmark
She joined Lena Hausherr (cruciate ligament rupture) on the absentee list
but apart from that all players were available for selection for coach Henk Groener
The game: The first quarter of an hour of the game belonged to the visitors from Metzingen
With an incredibly high tempo in attack and strong defending in the circle
TuS were very efficient at countering Dortmund's attack
The scoreboard read 4-0 in favour of the visitors before Dana Bleckmann scored the first goal for the Black & Yellows after six-and-a-half minutes
Tess Lieder saved Borussia from falling further behind and initiated the home side's comeback with three saves in very quick succession
Little was still possible from the wing and the circle
but the backcourt now proved to be reliable
Lois Abbingh restored Metzingen's lead to 6-5
and Metzingen once again took the ball down the court for Naina Klein to add to her tally
The Dutchman told his team to apply more pressure from all positions and not to stand still in front of their defenders
the visitors lost their high level of passing accuracy
Lena Degenhardt punished this with two goals before the break to make it 14-14 going into the interval
Lara Egeling opened the second half with her first goal for Borussia. Carmen Campos' subsequent seven-metre penalty put the Black & Yellows ahead for the first time. In the second half, BVB had a wall in goal: Tess Lieder
The 31-year-old saved shot after shot and had already made ten saves after 40 minutes
Thanks to their goalkeeper's strong performance
Alicia Langer had already scored six times and was thus the key to the Black & Yellows' very good spell in offence
The jubilation in the Wellinghofen arena knew no bounds
Chants of "Tess Lieder" echoed from the stands on several occasions
the Dutchwoman then scored her first goal of the game to make it 28-22
The game had slipped away from TuS and their all-round performance had started to falter
Metzingen were no longer able to play at the pace they had displayed in the first half
Borussia were more and more dominant as the game progressed and showed a lightness of touch which helped Henk Groener's team cruise to a 32-28 victory
Alicia Langer: "We were too hectic at the start and made too many mistakes
We moved better in the second half and found solutions
That's why I'm happy that we were able to win the game today
Now we have to improve on the problems we had in the first half next Saturday
We want to make it through to the semi-finals."
Outlook: The second leg of the play-off quarter-final will take place in Metzingen next Saturday (26 April
A win there will see Borussia advance to the semi-finals of the German Championship

BVB women's handball team beats Metzingen 34-24 in top match | OneFootballBorussia Dortmund
In the run-up to the Bundesliga match of Dortmund women’s handball team against TuS Metzingen. BVB coach André Fuhr had spoken of a "top match in which we will definitely be strongly challenged." But it only proved a close match in the opening 15 minutes: In the end
Borussia won clearly and deservedly 34-24 (17-9 at half time) and consolidated second place in the table
The Borussia women had now settled into the game, and were also getting stuck in defensively and made life difficult for Metzingen. BVB goalkeeper Madita Kohorst was also in fine form and saved her side from conceding a goal with a strong foot reflex
Metzingen coach Marlene Kalf reacted to the negative run of her team and took the first time-out after 20 minutes
on the contrary: the hosts pulled away to a 13-5 lead after 24 minutes
The lead stretched to 10 goals three minutes before half-time - Metzingen was now completely powerless
the guests grew increasingly into the game
the half-time lead was comfortable from Dortmund's point of view: going into the dressing rooms with a 17-9 lead
Metzingen was again responsible for the first goal after the restart: Silje Brøns Petersen made it 17-10
after which the Fuhr team tightened the reins again: Grijseels
Moreno and Zschocke restored the ten-goal lead with five minutes played in the second half
The second-placed team from Dortmund was already clearly heading for two points in this home match
The fans rewarded the strong performance with thunderous applause. Well-deserved, because a quarter of an hour before the final siren, BVB was leading 27-16 against the fifth-placed team from Metzingen - a strong performance
Dortmund coach Fuhr also took a time-out at 29-19
who actually plays for Borussia's A-youth team
scored her first goal in the Bundesliga with a penalty to make the score line 32-22 after 55 minutes
with the final score line showing 34-24 in favour of the Black & Yellows
but then we were very mobile and defended well
the crowd was also really good," said coach André Fuhr after the match
I was also pleased with how Mie Sando held her own at the circle
it was a strong performance by the whole team."

In order to reconcile economic and ecological interests
we have been operating certified environmental and energy management systems in accordance with the international standards DIN EN ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 since 2012
These are regularly audited by external certification companies
our largest own production site in Turkey and the production site in Italy are also certified in accordance with ISO 50001
This enables us to continuously improve our environmental performance and demonstrably comply with legal obligations
In addition to the headquarters in Metzingen (certified since 2012)
our European locations have also been certified in accordance with the DIN EN ISO 50001 energy management system since 2017
We are working to improve the energy efficiency of our sites by analyzing environmental data like the energy and water consumption and implementing potential energy and water saving measures
Focus topics are energy consumption and CO2 emissions as well as water use and waste management
We strive to implement the standards of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) for the construction of our own new buildings
Our four new buildings in Germany have already been successfully certified with platinum
the new BOSS Outlet in Metzingen was awarded two platinum certificates by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB)
The building itself as well as the interior spaces received the highest award level
HUGO BOSS was the first company in Germany to receive the two certificates
Sustainability aspects were already taken into account during the planning phase – these included
the use of over 20 geothermal bores and a photovoltaic system on the roof with an annual electricity generation of around 539 MWh
This corresponds to an annual consumption of 108 four-person households
Additionally required electricity is covered with 100 % green electricity
In addition to the efficient energy supply of the building
LED lighting was used throughout the entire sales area
Motion-controlled LED lighting was also installed in ancillary rooms
we have used FSC®-certified wood as well as recycled and low-pollution materials
The flexible furniture concept offers the possibility of quickly converting different areas
which can be achieved without the use of new elements
With the newly opened company daycare center
HUGO BOSS offers an attractive service for families
while at the same time ensuring that the modern building has the lowest possible impact on the environment
This building has been awarded a platinum certificate by the DGNB
The wood hybrid construction (a mix of wood and reinforced concrete) leads to a very good ecological balance
It was particular important to us to use certified materials (mainly wood) that have a long durability and are environmentally friendly
a photovoltaic thermal system was installed
In this way we generate electricity for our own needs and can also heat and cool the building
The electricity procured is 100% from renewable energy sources
we save energy because heat can be recovered via the ventilation system
We have expanded our headquarters in Metzingen in recent years
modern administration building was built in 2013
which is characterized by its particularly sustainable construction and operation
the building was awarded a platinum certificate by the DGNB for its sustainable construction
The second platinum certificate from the DGNB was received in the summer of 2017 – HUGO BOSS decided to obtain additional certification in the category "Buildings in Operation"
attention was paid to ensuring that the building met the highest sustainability standards during operation – this includes the photovoltaic system on the roof
which generates approximately 39,000 kWh of electricity per year
Further construction highlights include the green atrium with a watercourse
the targeted use of health-compatible building materials with low environmental impact and the high degree of flexibility in interior design
Our distribution center in Filderstadt was also awarded platinum certification by the DGNB
The building also has a photovoltaic system on its roof: nearly 2,000 modules on the 14,000m2 roof area generate enough energy to supply over 110 four-person households with electricity for a whole year
The fully automated shuttle warehouse has been implemented within the logistics center – the entire area comprises nearly 10,000m² and is unheated and unlit
A combined heat and power unit ensures the efficient supply of heat
the distribution center has been fully equipped with energy-efficient LED lighting since 2017
Thanks to the energy-saving light sources and the resulting longer useful life
the energy consumption for lighting has been reduced by about half
Further advantages include an improvement in lighting quality and a reduction of the heat load in the building
All HUGO BOSS store concepts define sustainability criteria as an integral part of all phases from planning to execution of our sites
LED lighting is installed as standard not only in the sales area
and is complemented by the use of motion detectors. Spacious seating areas also contribute to the high quality of stay
When building or renovating each of our own stores
low-emission materials are processed to ensure high indoor air quality
as well as materials such as FSC®-certified wood and recycled metal
The ventilation and air-conditioning concept includes heat recovery systems and energy-efficient components with modern control units
we also use water-saving fittings in the sanitary areas to reduce our water footprint
Motion sensors also adjust the water supply to the current demand
all stores throughout the Group have been built or renovated in accordance with the defined sustainability criteria
HUGO BOSS has written a manual that applies to all external planners and architects containing the standards of our sustainable store concepts
The Store Implementation Manual is regularly revised by an interdisciplinary team at HUGO BOSS
for example to adapt to new technical standards
The store concepts will continue to be implemented in all new openings and renovations of the Group's own retail stores – especially to help achieve continuous savings in the areas of energy and water
HUGO BOSS has selected key retail stores certified by globally recognized certification systems for the classification of sustainable buildings
The company uses Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) or the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM)
Two stores in the USA (BOSS Store in Boston and BOSS Outlet in Denver) have already been certified according to LEED and the BOSS Flagship Outlet in Metzingen has been certified according to DGNB and awarded the highest level of platinum
HUGO BOSS thus proves that its sustainable store concepts meet recognized sustainability standards.

the chief executive of German fashion house said on Wednesday
"We must prepare for a very difficult second quarter," Mark Langer told the company's annual general meeting held online
Langer said conditions were particularly tough in Europe and America which account for about 85 percent of sales and which are still hit by store closures and restrained consumption patterns
"We only expect a noticeable but gradual improvement in the market environment from the third quarter at the earliest," he said
Hugo Boss warned earlier this month it expects second quarter sales to fall by at least 50 percent even though all its stores have reopened in China and are gradually reopening elsewhere
