The 25-year-old Filipino champion finished behind the USA’s Chris Nilsen who cleared 5.92 meters but defeated three-times world medallist Piotr Lisek of Poland and Olympic champion Thiago Braz of Brazil with whom he recently tied for gold after clearing 5.80 meters in Leverkusen
Obiena is the first Filipino to qualify as a member of the Philippine delegation to the Tokyo Olympics and will campaign for the first-ever gold medal for the country
