part of Germany There are roughly 65,000 other people living in Neuwied but Anderson is one of four Americans who play professional volleyball for VC Neuwied 77 a 2015 graduate of Sturgis High School who went on to great heights at Western Kentucky University I feel like it’s taken me a while to realize that this is my job this is what I’m doing for a living,” she said “A lot of people I know — they know what I’m doing but I don’t think they really understand that this is a job for me it’s a big thing for me but it’s also fun and I know I’m proud of it.” Neuwied is located between the cities of Cologne and Frankfurt which are both considerably bigger in total size. Prior to arriving in Neuwied Anderson said she wasn’t even sure what the name of the place was she finds herself in a country where the language is difficult though she is still doing her best to acclimate but because of the COVID pandemic had not been playing volleyball exclusively during that time She came home for Christmas break and had a handful of weeks off but now Anderson finds herself busy on the volleyball court where she will spend a large amount of her time until the beginning of May she pursued a Master’s degree but still was not 100 percent sure what she wanted to do Then the idea of playing overseas was mentioned by a coach and it quickly became something Anderson was interested in I’d like to try it out and I had always wanted to travel so this was an opportunity for me to be able to do that,” she said “That’s a big reason why I started looking into the overseas part of it I started liking it more and decided it was something I could realistically see myself doing for a few years It’s amazing how many places I’ve already been even with COVID but I’m really thankful for volleyball.” Anderson wasn’t recruited to play overseas She did get put into contact with an agency who told her to make a video for potential teams that were looking for volleyball players — that turned into a tryout at the beginning of 2020 where she played professionally in Austria until March when everything pretty much shut down “The airports were shutting down. It was crazy I had to cancel my original flight and buy a random flight two days in advance,” Anderson said she’s back on the volleyball court playing central block for Neuwied but Anderson is still a professional athlete and enjoying her time The contracts the athletes sign are basically year-by-year deals and Anderson’s is up at the end of April Her options then become re-signing with the team or potentially stopping playing volleyball completely she’s in Germany on a work visa and a couple of the other Americans on the team have actually been playing on the team for five years Anderson said their experiences have helped her acclimate to being in a different country who helped take care of all the paperwork and governmental things necessary for her to play she really enjoys playing volleyball for a living and said she had no plans to stop in the near future “I really like where I’m at — the location I’m also open to different things in the future But that’s a conversation for a later time.” They play in the Bundesliga South Women’s league in Germany and currently sit in first place with 38 points — compiling a record of 13 wins and one loss in 14 matches Anderson has been named the Player of the Day three times.  The players are COVID tested before each of their matches and are currently playing without fans in attendance then logged and they do their best to socially distance while wearing masks when not on the court VC Neuwied is looking to make the jump up from their current spot in the secondary league to the top league Anderson said the first league is full of Olympians and some of the best volleyball players in the world “It’s a pretty big deal for this team to be moving up to that division if it happens,” she said “That part is really exciting because we’re always playing for something This is a good team and everyone is pretty advanced in volleyball.” There’s also an age variance as well A pair of youngsters on the squad are only 19 and two of the team’s members are at least 30 years old “It’s an interesting mix of people some of the women are doing day-to-day jobs and come to practice after that,” Anderson said but I don’t really think it changes anything for us as a team.“ Being in a different country changes some things for Anderson It’s a big change for her in how things are structured Anderson said often times she finds herself observing others and learning from how they do things in Germany.  Many things have been shut down since November and there was an extension recently as well COVID makes everything even more difficult especially with everyone wearing masks and the German language being hard Anderson said she’s learning to continue to cope with it the team still has the ability to practice and compete “So many others have had to postpone their seasons so I’m glad we haven’t gotten to that point yet I’m glad to have a really good roommate they want us all to be happy,” she said “I’m just trying to be really positive right now Praying helps me and it helps thinking about how blessed I am to even be here.” Stereotaxis has announced that the first patients have been successfully treated utilising Abbott’s EnSite X EP system with Stereotaxis’ robotic magnetic navigation system The first integrated procedures were successfully conducted by Sing-Chien Yap and Tamas Szili-Torok at Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam “The integration of advanced mapping with the precision and safety of robotics helps provide the best therapy for patients and an enhanced workflow for physicians,” said Sing-Chien Yap with successful treatment of patients with atrial and ventricular arrhythmias in a safe and efficient fashion.” “We have long championed the benefits of open interoperability in electrophysiology as a way to pair the most suitable technologies for each patient,” added Tamas Szili-Torok “Full integrated use of EnSite X with Stereotaxis robotic technology worked smoothly and we are delighted to contribute to this progress.” “The community of physicians who are pioneering robotics in electrophysiology have long championed increased integrations,” said Burkhard Hügl I am very pleased with this technological advance and the growing recognition that robotics plays an important role for the electrophysiology field.” and website in this browser for the next time I comment Δdocument.getElementById( "ak_js_1"
