The race to qualify for the 2025 Betfred Women's World Matchplay begins in Niedernhausen this weekend
as Beau Greaves returns to PDC Women's Series action following her exploits in Blackpool last month
Greaves celebrated victory in the third staging of the Women's World Matchplay on July 21
conceding just six legs in wins over Katie Sheldon
Mikuru Suzuki and Fallon Sherrock to retain the coveted title at the Winter Gardens
The 20-year-old averaged almost 99 to topple Sherrock in a high-quality final
as two of the biggest names in the women's game went head-to-head at the Empress Ballroom
Greaves - a winner of 23 PDC Women's Series titles within the last two years - will now be aiming to extend her winning run in Niedernhausen this weekend
as she prepares to headline a star-studded field
The year's fourth weekend of Women's Series action will see Events 13-16 take place on August 10-11
with Sherrock also set to star on German soil
Sherrock currently occupies second spot on the 2024 Women's Series Order of Merit
although Suzuki and Lisa Ashton are in close contention in third and fourth respectively
having claimed two titles apiece this year
Noa-Lynn van Leuven - also a multiple event winner on the Women's Series circuit in 2024 - will feature alongside the emerging Gemma Hayter
who clinched her maiden Women's Series title in June's Event Ten
The top eight players on the 12-month Women's World Matchplay Order of Merit will qualify for next year's Betfred Women's World Matchplay
with the race to qualify for that tournament beginning at the H+ Hotel on Saturday
Greaves' Women's World Matchplay success ensures she will return to Wolverhampton for November's Grand Slam of Darts
while she's also secured qualification for the 2024/25 World Darts Championship
The top-ranked player from the final PDC Women's Series Order of Merit - aside from Greaves - will join the Doncaster darter at the Grand Slam
with a further two World Championship qualification places also up for grabs in the final 12 events of 2024

Gerwyn Price doubled his 2022 title tally with victory at Players Championship 7 in Niedernhausen
Price defeated Madars Razma 8-4 in the final to claim his 25th PDC title and move closer to reclaiming the world number one spot
The Welshman fought off a mini-fightback from Razma
before getting over the line with his sixth match dart
His semi-final victory over Rob Cross was less routine
as Cross spurned 12 match darts to allow Price to come back from 6-2 down to triumph 7-6
“I got lucky in the semis but you need a bit of lucky to win any tournament,” said Price
who produced four ton-plus averages across the day
“Rob missed loads of chances and I took advantage
but I’ve been on the other side of that plenty of times so I’ll take it
My hand is still not 100 per cent right but if I can still win ProTours that’s not too bad
“Playing in ProTours will stand me in good stead for the rest of the Premier League
they give me the match practice I’ve been missing due to my hand injury.”
Price’s day began with a win over Connor Scutt
before coming through a last-leg decider against Ted Evetts
The former World Champion then saw off Dutch duo Geert Nentjes and Dirk van Duijvenbode to reach the semi-finals
Razma landed a 160 checkout to seal his semi-final victory over Kevin Doets to reach his third PDC final
The event also saw two nine-dart finishes hit courtesy of Raymond van Barneveld and Jose de Sousa
both in round three against Adam Hunt and Keane Barry respectively
The 2022 PDC ProTour season continues with Players Championships 8 on Sunday at the H+ Hotel in Niedernhausen
where back-to-back titles for Price would see him move back to top spot on the PDC Order of Merit
Live action will be broadcast across two streams on PDCTV

Dirk van Duijvenbode clinched his first PDC ranking title with an 8-6 victory over his fellow Dutchman Martijn Kleermaker in the final of Players Championship 11 in Niedernhausen
The World Grand Prix finalist boasted the highest average on the Pro Tour in 2021 prior to Super Series 3
and he transferred those impressive performances into results to scoop his maiden Pro Tour title in Germany
The 28-year-old reeled off five consecutive legs from 3-1 down to defeat David Evans in his opener
before posting a stunning 105.9 average to dispatch his compatriot Jelle Klaasen in round two
‘The Aubergenius’ then recorded a brace of 6-4 wins over Jeff Smith and Krzysztof Ratajski to advance to the last eight
Van Duijvenbode fended off the challenge of former Lakeside world champion Scott Mitchell to set up a semi-final clash against Andy Boulton
‘The X-Factor’ was denied a spot in a first PDC ranking final
as the enigmatic Dutchman won four of the final five legs to prevail 7-5
This set up an all-Dutch affair in Monday’s showpiece
as Kleermaker produced a string of fine performances to reach his first PDC final
The 30-year-old endured a torrid spell during the opening two Super Series
but he followed up a third round appearance on Saturday with a superb showing
‘The Dutch Giant’ posted a ton-plus average to kick off his campaign with victory against John Henderson
before edging out Gabriel Clemens in a dramatic decider
Kleermaker then followed up a narrow win over his fellow countryman Luc Peters by dumping out Sunday’s winner Michael Smith
before advancing through another last-leg shootout against Ritchie Edhouse to reach the last four
Kleermaker accounted for an in-form Brendan Dolan in the semi-finals
as the Northern Irishman was denied a second Pro Tour triumph in as many months
‘The History Maker’ claimed the scalps of Mensur Suljovic and Rob Cross to record yet another semi-final appearance
only to succumb 7-5 in a topsy-turvy contest
Van Duijvenbode stole a march in Monday’s showpiece
establishing an early 2-0 cushion albeit in scrappy fashion
before Kleermaker followed up a 109 kill with a 13-darter to level proceedings
Van Duijvenbode restored his two leg cushion at 4-2
with the pair then trading the next four legs before Kleermaker responded once more
registering another break of throw and a sensational 140 checkout to draw level at six apiece
Van Duijvenbode rallied to regain the initiative with another break of throw in leg 13
before he sealed the deal in dramatic style moments later
Kleermaker squandered five darts at double to force a decider in which he would have had the advantage of throw
and ‘The Aubergenius’ eventually prevailed via double 16
and then when he needed to stay in it he was more nervous,” admitted Van Duijvenbode
“I was in great form the last two series and thought I would win a title but I didn’t
so I went into today just hoping I would win the first round
“On the one side I know I need to play better
but on the other it is great to win when not playing your best
but I always want to play well and that is what I think about – and then it all comes together,” added the 28-year-old
Michael van Gerwen endured another frustrating afternoon; departing at the second round stage following a 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Gino Vos
Ian White suffered his third successive opening round exit
while Saturday’s winner Jose De Sousa bowed out at the same stage
Raymond van Barneveld posted a 101 average in his opening round success against Steve Brown
but the five-time world champion subsequently withdrew from the tournament on medical grounds
and he will be replaced in Players Championship 12 by his compatriot Jeroen Mioch

Scott Williams claimed a host of huge scalps to clinch his first PDC Pro Tour title in incredible fashion at Players Championship 17 on Wednesday
Williams scooped the £12,000 top prize with an 8-5 win over former UK Open champion Nathan Aspinall in Germany
to become the first player to win a ranking title without a PDC Tour Card since Krzysztof Ratajski in February 2018
who has been an ever-present on the professional circuit in 2022 as the Challenge Tour Order of Merit leader
defeated four televised title winners to cap off the greatest day of his darting life in Niedernhausen
Williams had underlined his credentials with a quarter-final appearance earlier this year
but he came of age to fulfil his dreams and deny Aspinall a second Pro Tour success of the season
Williams punished a sluggish start from Aspinall to race into an early 2-0 lead
but a 13-darter sparked a sequence of three straight legs for the Stockport star
a brilliant 12-dart break from Williams in leg nine shifted the pendulum
with Aspinall squandering five darts at double to restore parity moments later
The Challenge Tour star gifted Aspinall a temporary reprieve by frittering away three match darts for an 8-4 victory
following up two 180s with a 14-darter to seal the deal
a winner of three Challenge Tour titles in 2022
“I am beating players that people see in big TV events every week
“My main target was to get into the World Championship
I’m also looking good for the Players Championship Finals now
I want people to see me and know who I am."
Williams’ remarkable run began with victories over Gary Blades and Danny Baggish
and a stunning 11-dart leg saw him clinch a 6-5 win over Jonny Clayton in round three
after the Welshman had posted 111 and 108 averages in his opening two games
After accounting for reigning World Cup champion John Henderson
Williams overcame European Champion Rob Cross 6-4 in the quarter-finals
before reeling off five straight legs to topple two-time Pro Tour winner Chris Dobey 7-4 in the last four
came through two last-leg deciders to open his campaign
rallying from 5-3 down to edge out Darius Labanauskas
before taking out a spectacular 170 finish in victory over Maik Kuivenhoven
The 30-year-old then breezed past Rowby-John Rodriguez with a 104 average
before producing another stirring fightback to overhaul a 5-2 deficit against Jim Williams
Aspinall swept aside Mike De Decker 6-2 in the quarter-finals
and back-to-back 156 and 132 finishes inspired him to a 7-4 success over De Decker’s compatriot Kim Huybrechts in the last four
Belgium's Huybrechts goes into the Cazoo World Cup of Darts fresh from his best performance of 2022
Damon Heta and whitewashing World Champion Peter Wright 6-0 in the quarter-finals
Wright battled through to the last eight despite a host of sub-par displays
while Cross fired in three ton-plus averages before bowing out to Williams at the same stage
Brendan Dolan and Steve Beaton to make a second Pro Tour quarter-final of 2022
with PC16 runner-up Van Duijvenbode producing another strong showing to reach the last eight
Simon Whitlock derailed Michael Smith's bid for a fourth consecutive Players Championship title
recording a 6-2 win over the St Helens star in the last 32
The PDC Pro Tour resumes with Players Championship 18-19 at the Barnsley Metrodome from July 8-9
and live action will be broadcast simultaneously across two streams on PDCTV
