Luca Engstler (Grasser-Lamborghini) finished seventh while Ben Doerr impressed with a strong eighth-place finish in the Doerr-McLaren DTM champion Mirko Bortolotti (Abt-Lamborghini) and Saturday's race winner Lucas Auer (Landgraf-Mercedes) completed the top ten. Land-Audi driver Ricardo Feller had to settle for eleventh overall Unlike the largely orderly race on Saturday the start on Sunday was significantly more turbulent While Gounon converted his pole position into an early lead Maro Engel was forced off track by fellow Mercedes driver Lucas Auer early on and was subsequently hit from the rear by Mirko Bortolotti smoke briefly emanated from Engel’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 Engel could no longer keep pace with the leading group and quickly lost touch with the top 10 Auer’s manoeuvre had consequences as well: following the race director’s instruction he had to let Engel – and thus Bortolotti and Rast too – through An accident involving Nicolas Baert (Comtoyou-Aston Martin) had previously triggered a safety car intervention when Baert went off the track and crashed into the tire barriers The subsequent restart proceeded without further incident and Auer immediately seized the opportunity to make his first mandatory pitstop Engel followed suit one lap later and managed to get back ahead of Mercedes colleague Auer Jordan Pepper came in one lap earlier than leader Gounon but the Mercedes pitcrew performed to perfection allowing the Frenchman to defend his position against the Grasser-Lamborghini with Guven and Rast making the overcut strategy work he was unable to fend off charging Thomas Preining The Manthey driver soon overtook Pepper as well and started chasing Gounon Although Preining significantly increased the pressure on Gounon and even briefly pulled alongside him after slight contact he ultimately was unable to make a move stick Gounon successfully defended second place until the finish line "It was a difficult qualifying session on our side of the garage we couldn’t put together a really good lap finishing third is damage limitation – and I think it’s a fantastic day." For DTM returnee Timo Glock, the weekend proved disappointing. Driving for Doerr-McLaren, he remained stuck at the back of the field from the beginning and had to retire halfway through the race due to technical issues. Several collisions, particularly with Tom Kalender (Landgraf-Mercedes) finishing the race was not an option because the car was simply undriveable," Glock told with ProSieben "You are fighting with blunt weapons to such an extent that it makes no sense to continue." being investigated in Woking for a fundamental vehicle problem but also with the fairness of some of his rivals In Sunday's race “it felt like everyone out there thought they had to drive totally kamikaze” Glock grumbled to ProSieben after his retirement. He said he had to “think carefully about what you can say on television” to avoid incurring a large fine but I had eight punches in the car at some point.” “We actually wanted to continue until the second pitstop to get the guys into a bit of a routine and only then stop the car explaining why he parked the Dörr-McLaren early According to the team's technical director Robin Dorr the front splitter was “so badly damaged” that it wanted to prevent “anything worse from happening”. “Schuring drove halfway through my car in the last corner” When asked by Autosport which events had upset him so much on Sunday the 43-year-old Glock referred in particular to the early stages of the race “I don't know what everyone was up to,” he said “But that was a level of driving where I have one or two question marks.” Glock's retirement was also caused by the collision with Landgraf Mercedes rookie Tom Kalender who had to drive through the penalty lap zone three times (equivalent to a 15-second time penalty) Was it the incident with the youngest DTM driver of all time that upset Glock so much? “I don't know,” replied Glock “All I know is that Schuring drove halfway through my car at the last corner – and Scherer somewhere at the Hotel corner back there,” he said alluding to rookies Morris Schuring in the Manthey Porsche and Fabio Scherer in the HRT Ford it was the Mercedes!” In the heat of the moment  “There's a lot of bumping and jabbing going on” It was mainly younger drivers who caused Glock trouble at Oschersleben He also noticed that the second Ford Mustang driver “jagged left and right and back and forth twice at the back during the start phase – and pulled into the corner that's all you're going to get out of it!” Glock claimed a decline in track behaviour that goes back to 2021 when the DTM switched from Class 1 prototypes to more robust GT3 cars saying standards have “gone a long way in this direction” since then. With the Class 1 cars which built up more downforce via their aerodynamics “Everyone knew that it wouldn't do them any good because they would knock aero parts off and then nothing would work But what's happening right now is a bit of a slugfest it's just gone a bit too far.” Glock to speak with race control Glock is now calling for consequences the stewards and [race director] Sven Stoppe have to intervene accordingly but in the end we're all going to wreck our cars,” he said. He had not yet spoken to Stoppe about the issue but was planning to do so and “looking forward” to the possible to reschedule a new date for a German round of the 2021 FIM Endurance World Championship had to be postponed because of health restrictions in Germany and the organizers of the race in Germany have been working together to reschedule the 8 Hours of Oschersleben on the 2021 calendar Their priority was to offer teams a new calendar compatible with their logistical organization which would take into account the other date changes of the 24 Heures Motos (12 and 13 June) and the 12 Hours of Estoril (17 July) as well as the organization of the Bol d’Or on 18 and 19 September and the Suzuka 8 Hours on 7 November The other priority was to find a date that would give the event the most international visibility after the end of the Tokyo Olympic Games unfortunately the Oschersleben circuit was unable to cancel its previously undertaken commitments for that date the 8 Hours of Oschersleben will not take place during the 2021 FIM EWC season “We genuinely regret being unable to include the 8 Hours of Oschersleben on the 2021 calendar Oschersleben has been part of the FIM EWC races since 1999 It is also an important race for German and East European teams of which an ever-increasing number are entering the championship.” “Despite the fact we could not find an alternative date for the traditional 8 Hours of Oschersleben we look forward to welcoming back this race next year the remainder of the 2021 FIM EWC calendar will be run as is planned but keeping in mind that we must maintain flexibility until we are over with the pandemic We sincerely thanks everyone Oschersleben circuit in Germany for Round 3 of the 2024 season promising another exciting weekend of wheel-to-wheel racing action from Northern Europe’s fastest young riders | Copyright 2025 FIM Europe | Terms of use - Privacy statement | 2022 – The MANN-FILTER Motorsport season began last weekend like a dream: Fans from all over the world flocked to the ADAC GT Masters season with a total of 28,000 visitors breaking the attendance record for the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben The MANN-FILTER Team LANDGRAF was particularly thrilled to see young and old Mamba supporters in their yellow-green caps and thanks for these special fans was not long in coming the pitfalls of the 3.667-kilometer race course quickly became apparent: The 14 tight corners leave very few opportunities for overtaking and the South African handed over halfway through the race to his teammate Raffaele Marciello (27 who kept his position in fourth place and maneuvered the MANN-FILTER Mercedes across the finish line the duo narrowly missed their first podium result he handed over the steering wheel to his MANN-FILTER Mercedes AMG GT3 teammate Aberdein who ultimately crossed the finish line in third place The MANN-FILTER Team LANDGRAF happily celebrated their first podium finish and bronze trophy in front of a crowd of fans It was a successful opening weekend in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben: Crowds of spectators strolled through the paddock and enjoyed the pit walk where the ADAC GT Masters drivers posed for photos and gave autographs The yellow-green caps of the Mamba fans were particularly striking "It was super nice and a little crazy with all the people," reports "Lello" about the contact drivers had with fans over the weekend something which MANN-FILTER newcomer Jonathan Aberdein was particularly surprised by: "The fans were amazing The MANN-FILTER caps can be seen all over – in the paddock first podium finish: After two consistent races and collecting many points the two Mamba magicians placed second in the ADAC GT Masters driver ranking the MANN-FILTER Team LANDGRAF landed fourth place in the team ranking BMW driver Wittmann was on course to take an unlikely victory from the last row of the grid after timing his pitstop to perfection, with Schubert Motorsport having brought him in for his mandatory stop just before a Full Course Yellow was deployed his BMW M4 GT3 crawled to a halt at the start/finish straight due to a fuel pressure alarm allowing Aitken to retake the position and claim his second career victory in the DTM Aitken had made a clean start from pole position as the 2024 campaign began at Oschersleben, with Mirko Bortolotti likewise holding on to second in the SSR Performance Lamborghini But as the initial laps wore on, Bortolotti started coming under pressure from the Abt Sportsline Audi of Ricardo Feller, who had passed HRT Mercedes of Arjun Maini for third at the start This allowed Aitken to build a buffer for himself at the front of the pack the British driver pulling in an advantage of three seconds as the pit window opened after 20 minutes of racing Bortolotti was among the first of the frontrunners to peel into the pitlane with Aitken and Feller following him into the pits on the next lap but Feller managed to get the jump on Bortolotti as the overcut proved to be the superior strategy on a track where drivers struggled to get heat into their tyres It appeared Aitken would have a clean run to the finish but the race was turned on his head when Ben Dorr lost a wheel on his McLaren exiting the final corner around the halfway point of the race With the loose wheel rolling its way onto the track before the race control decided to bring out the full safety car Schubert cleverly called in Wittmann to the pits the BMW driver having decided to go long in the first stint after a red flag in qualifying left him on 19th on the grid It appeared to be a masterstroke from Schubert as Wittmann cycled back on track well clear of the chasing pack Even as the safety car that followed closed the pack back up Wittmann was able to make a brilliant restart as Bortolotti repassed Feller for third a first win since the 2022 finale at Hockenheim wasn't to be as a rare mechanical issue left the German stranded on track and put Aitken back in front The safety car was brought back on track to help retrieve Wittmann's stranded BMW but the track could be cleared for a one-lap dash to the finish Aitken made no mistakes as the SC peeled into the pits keeping himself well clear of the competition to start the season with a stunning win Bortolotti claimed second for Lamborghini, while Feller resisted the other Schubert BMW of Sheldon van der Linde on the final lap to claim the third spot on the podium Mercedes duo Luca Stolz (HRT) and Lucas Auer (Winward) finished fifth and sixth behind van der Linde while Rene Rast ended up seventh in the third of the three Schubert BMWs A decision to stop early dropped Stolz's team-mate Arjun Maini from fourth on lap 1 to eighth at the finish, ahead of the Emil Frey Ferrari of Thierry Vermeulen and reigning champion Thomas Preining (Manthey EMA) who was the only Porsche runner inside the top 10 Apart from Wittmann and Dorr, the only other driver to fail to finish the race was SSR's Nicki Thiim who retired after just 10 laps with technical issues of his own
