On a recent Monday evening in the German town of Parsberg
a famished companion and I were searching without success for an open restaurant
Our predicament prompted us to decide that the ever-reliable traditional German hotel restaurants were our best option
This resolve brought us to Hirschens Restaurant Wirtsstuben
The entrance was adorned with chairs and desks displaying books
delicate deer figurines and bottles of wine
coupled with the soft glow of cozy lamplight
That was the moment I realized this meal might be a tad more upscale than I had anticipated
Having arrived close to the beginning of dinner hours
we sat in the nearly empty restaurant at a table right near the bar
The outdoorsy charm of the entrance seamlessly carried into the restaurant
where the decor featured an abundance of deer motifs and historical imagery
while my friend was instantly drawn to the pretzel cordon bleu
Our rumbling stomachs were appeased by a plate of fresh bread paired with a fragrant herbal house butter
The bread had an interesting flavor I couldn’t quite place
The main dishes were served soon afterward
My pork schnitzel was served as two generously sized
golden-brown fillets accompanied by cranberry sauce
The cranberry sauce added a nice sweetness that complemented the savory pork
proved a magnificent companion to the main dish
melted cheese encasing the veal were a splendid ingredient combination
When I found myself back in Parsberg for the second time in a week
I decided another visit to Hirschens was in order
Initially tempted to split a tomahawk steak
a shareable-size cut from the rib that can range up to 45 ounces
we learned that it must be ordered a day in advance
So something to keep in mind for future visits
Both of our steaks were cooked medium-rare as requested and paired with a fruity sauce that offered a delightful balance of sweet and savory flavors
I followed the European tradition of enjoying a post-meal cappuccino
The coffee was the perfect conclusion to yet another satisfying dinner
I couldn’t resist making a quick stop at the bar — not for a drink
but to grab a small packet of gummy worms from a vase of complimentary candies
It was a charming final treat to enjoy as I made my way across the street to my car

German authorities are investigating two U.S
soldiers for possible negligent homicide in a fiery crash last month on a Bavarian highway
A truck driver was killed in the flaming wreckage Dec
20 after he ran into one of four Army vehicles that had gotten separated from a convoy and were parked in the emergency lane of Autobahn 3 near Parsberg
The vehicles were from the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team
1st infantry Division and were traveling from Hohenfels to Grafenwoehr
The Associated Press reported at the time that three Army vehicles were damaged in the crash but no U.S personnel were injured
chief of the Bavarian highway patrol in Parsberg
confirmed a report in regional newspaper Mittelbayerische Zeitung that American troops involved in the crash are subjects of the investigation
Meier told Stars and Stripes that the investigation hinges on two questions: What was the Army vehicle’s position in the emergency lane
And does the NATO Status of Forces Agreement exempt U.S
military vehicles from the ban on parking in the emergency lane
“There are some indications that parts of the last vehicle might have been in the highway lane,” Meier said
He added that because of “contradictory statements,” investigators are unsure whether that was the case and are asking possible witnesses to come forward
He said police are also asking Americans who might have driven past the convoy to report what they saw
Were parts of the last vehicle in the highway lane or not?” Meier said
investigators are looking into whether exceptions granted by the SOFA in regard to emergency lane usage apply in this case
a person convicted of negligent homicide can face up to five years in prison
“The circumstances leading up the collision are still under investigation
and it would be inappropriate to speculate fault at this time,” said Lt
Klaudia Parsberg’s unprecedented ascent to the crown and title barely moved her nerves
As the first runner-up of the Face of Denmark
she has ample knowledge about the pressing environmental problems that the world is facing right now
It is not surprising then she was chosen to fill in after the original winner of Miss Earth Denmark 2016 relinquished her crown
That makes Klaudia truly deserving to compete for the Miss Earth 2016 crown and bring it home for Denmark once again
Missosology managed to speak with Klaudia Parsberg in the middle of her preparation for the most awaited international contest
she truly amazes us all with her clear grasp of environmental issues that face today

I hope to be able to visit the rainforests of the Philippines and make my country proud by following the footsteps of the very first Miss Earth Catharina Brink’s footsteps and bring the Miss Earth crown
The Kingdom of Denmark is surrounded by water and has some of the cleanest natural drinking water in the world
the water is very low in salt concentration
The landscape of my country is as diverse as her citizens
We have some of the most beautiful flora and fauna
The Danish Beech Forest is incredibly beautiful in the summer
I absolutely believe the swimsuit portion of the competition is still relevant and important
A beauty queen is a woman who is a combination of natural beauty
a vibrant personality and a healthy mind and body
Physical Fitness is an important part of our daily life and provides the stamina
energy we need to fulfill our daily responsibilities
Walking across the stage in swimsuit tests one confidence and strength needed to fulfill the obligations of being a beauty queen
Throughout my life I been challenged with knowing my own person
but as a result I have gained love and acceptance of just who I am

There is no question that Missosology can’t hide its disappointment when Miss Denmark Klaudia Parsberg didn’t make it to the semis of Miss Earth 2016 pageant. In an opinion piece written by Drew Francisco post coronation night
the exclusion of Miss Denmark Klaudia Parsberg was called as a “let down” and described Klaudia as “one of the most prepared and dedicated ladies in the competition”
Time wasn’t on the side of Klaudia Parsberg
She was thrusted into the limelight after the original titleholder relinquished her crown
But in the short span between being crowned as Miss Earth Denmark 2016 and the time she flew to Manila for the competition
She studied further and brushed herself with most pressing environmental problems that world is facing today
we saw a confident Klaudia which completely masked the hectic schedule that she went through
She rolled up her sleeves to pursue her environmental program
In an exclusive interview with Missosology before she set afoot in Manila
Klaudia revealed that she worked with the Technical University of Denmark (Danmarks Tekniske Universitet) to measure the health of lakes in Denmark
She wasn’t involved in environmental projects just because she joined Miss Earth but because it is her passion
Whatever are the reasons why Miss Earth decided to exclude Klaudia Parsberg from the semi finals
it seems there was a near unanimous dismay among pageant observers
Many fans and missosologists agree that Klaudia should have been one of the semifinalists
she could have proven her worth not only as a beautiful and a shapely woman but as a woman whose passion towards the environment is unflinching
