About  .  Contact  .  Donation A team of experts has unearthed a rare collection of medieval gaming pieces at a previously unknown castle complex in Southern Germany’s Reutlingen district This discovery includes a well-preserved knight chess piece all dating back to the 11th or 12th century CE though still extraordinary in its rarity and preservation The excavation, conducted by an international team from the University of Tübingen the State Office for Monument Preservation (LAD) in Baden-Württemberg and the German Archaeological Institute (DAI) revealed the gaming pieces under the debris of a collapsed wall The excellent condition of these artifacts is attributed to their protective burial beneath the rubble which shielded them from environmental degradation over the centuries Jonathan Scheschkewitz from the University of Tübingen’s LAD explained the cultural significance of chess in medieval Europe chess was one of the seven skills that a good knight should master It is therefore not surprising that known finds mostly come from castles.” Dr Lukas Werther from the German Archaeological Institute said “The discovery of an entire games collection from the government operated It was a great move because in the last three years of his first term Randy became Voinovich’s personal assistant This gave him the opportunity to learn about all facets of state government and more importantly Governor Voinovich won re-election in 1994 and a position called the State Architect became open at the beginning of his second term and he appointed Randy He was with Voinovich the first 4 years and combined that knowledge with his education and work experience He administered the state’s $1.5 billion biennial capital construction program During the spring of 1997 the Ohio Supreme Court ruled that the way the State funded schools was unconstitutional to oversee the design and construction of all Ohio school facilities Randy became the executive director and started that agency with three people he grew the agency from a staff of three to about 55 Randy went to work as a consultant with Summit Consulting where he was selected to work for the state of Arkansas to create a school facilities program He spent 2½ years there and created a similar program to Ohio creating an agency to oversee the design and construction of Arkansas school facilities Randy made a decision to come back to Bucyrus in 2005 and continue his consulting business he was flying between Arkansas and Massachusetts He decided he could live close to a big airport and work where he wanted He’s a small-town guy and wanted to live back in Bucyrus Uncle George and Dorothy Fischer’s home was for sale and he bought it He created Keppler Consulting at that time and Bucyrus City Schools hired him to be the owner’s representative for their school facilities project It was one of the highlights of Randy’s career to be involved in the renovation of the schools that he attended and intersected with the State program where he previously worked trying to get the best schools for Bucyrus He also worked on Pioneer’s Career Center he is now working for Lucas County's $40-million project to renovate their convention center in downtown Toledo and also serves on Good Hope Lutheran Church’s council Bucyrus Mayor Jeff Reser chose him to be on the Bicentennial Committee
