Netflix's Squid Game: The Challenge is facing more accusations of unsafe filming conditions
who shared what their experience was like filming the reality series based on Director
Writer & Executive Producer Hwang Dong-hyuk's global phenomenon
Before we look at three takeaways from the quite thorough & exhaustive report, the streamer and producers Studio Lambert & The Garden issued a new statement pushing back on the claims in the Variety article
"We care deeply about the health of our cast and crew and the quality of this show
Any suggestion that the competition is rigged or claims of serious harm to players are simply untrue
We've taken all the appropriate safety precautions
including aftercare for contestants – and an independent adjudicator is overseeing each game to ensure it's fair to everyone," read the statement released
From reportedly cell phones being confiscated to long stretches outside in inhumane weather conditions to a number of medical emergencies (again, allegations that the streamer & studios deny), here are just a few of the takeaways from the full report:
"John": "Imagine you're playing 'Red Light Green Light' for six hours
You can't tell people they have to stand in below-freezing temperatures in just a tracksuit and two pairs of socks
"Marlene": Though claiming that filming was "not as extreme as people are saying," Marlene took issue with the streamer and studios' attempts to paint a different narrative
"But it's definitely not as minimal as is being conveyed by Netflix." She added
"It's not like we signed up for 'Survivor' or 'Naked and Afraid.' The conditions were absolutely inhumane and had nothing to do with the game."
"Jenny": Flown in from outside of the U.K to compete
Jenny also takes issues with the attempts to publically downplay what the contestants went through
"I'm infuriated by the narrative that Netflix is putting out there
that only [a few] people were injured…we were all injured just by going through that experience
I've never been that cold for that long a period in my life
It was ridiculous," Jenny shared (also claiming that restroom and water breaks were prohibited during filming of the competitions)
"Take some responsibility for the fact that you were ill-prepared for this kind of thing
with this number of people," she continued
described as getting teary-eyed in the article
"There were some things I guess [producers] didn't think about
but when they saw the weather was going to be that way
The 10-episode competition series is a co-production between Studio Lambert (The Circle) and The Garden (24 Hours in A&E)
Tim Harcourt & Toni Ireland from Studio Lambert
Nicola Hill & Nicola Brown from The Garden will serve as executive producers
The Witches' Tower is Rheinbach's landmark
The keep of the former Rheinbach castle is one of the spots with medieval charm that will serve as a backdrop at the town festival
a ruined castle and a keep in the middle of the city center: the city of Rheinbach impresses visitors above all with its historical charm
This will be the focus of attention when the Voreifel municipality celebrates its 725th anniversary in August
Determining the age is not based on the granting of town rights
which Rheinbach never officially received in the Middle Ages
but on a deed of donation from the 14th century
in which Rheinbach is classified as a town-like settlement by the use of the Latin term "oppidum"
A knight had actually had this fortified with a wall without permission in the 13th century; Rheinbach flourished thanks to its location on an important trade route
It is precisely this period of prosperity in the beginning of the Late Middle Ages that is to be brought to life with an extensive program of castle and town tours
starting as early as 12 August and culminating in the actual town festival on 20 August
When it came to the question of what Rheinbach should offer its visitors on this occasion
the organizers let slip in conversation with the GA
Back then the town had a lot more money at its disposal," recalls town archivist Dietmar Pertz
the administration has come to rely on partners such as the archive's sponsoring association and the traders' association to put together an attractive program - Mayor Ludger Banken is duly grateful these days
because an "open shop Sunday" is part of the concept
A visit is particularly recommended for anyone who loves the atmosphere of medieval markets
Pertz distances himself from such formats: "We didn't want a medieval festival
but rather to revive Rheinbach as it was in the 13th century
historical crafts and local features." So the romantic glorification and partly pure fantasy that shape much of the medieval scene will take a back seat in favour of a more realistic portrayal
the planned costumes are based on the clothing of the time
and dialogs with visitors in supposedly historical language are deliberately avoided: " Because none of us knows the Low German that was spoken here at the time
and anything else would be unhistorical." But nonetheless
The core sites for the events are the Himmeroder Hof
the forecourt and courtyard of the Wibbelstätz kindergarten
the Hexenturm (witches' tower) and the surrounding castle grounds
as well as the shopping area around the Hauptstraße and a stage on the Kirchplatz
says there will be historically decorated shop windows with old photos and a "knights' table" at three locations in the city center
Historical city festival and preliminary programme
Note: The guided tours of the Eifel- und Heimatverein Rheinbach start at Himmeroder Hof
3 p.m.: Glass and Sudeten Germans in Rheinbach

There are more than two reasons why NVIDIA’s (NASDAQ: NVDA) stock price can rally another 30% or more in 2025
but the two that underpin the others are data center and automotive segment strength
It grew by 27% year-over-year and is considered the company’s next billion-dollar business
Regarding AI, the demand for Blackwell products is unbelievable. Rubin is coming soon, and CEO Jenson Huang predicts a solid future for its GPU semiconductor business
with compute needs growing by 100x to meet the needs of the next-gen AI models
they drive a robust outlook that includes slower growth but growth sustained at a double-digit pace
and an increasingly robust financial position
Balance Sheet highlights at the end of the year include a 10% sequential increase in cash
and a nearly $11 billion net cash position
The bottom line is that this company has the financial position to do whatever it wants
including advancing technology to support its growth while returning capital to shareholders
The capital return in 2025 isn’t large but sufficient to be interesting
and the outlook for increases grows quarterly
NVIDIA’s Q4 was stellar despite weakness in only one segment: video games
Edge AI is expected to improve the performance of non-player characters
It is only a matter of time until this business regains traction
Q4 revenue grew by 78% to outpace MarketBeat’s consensus estimate by 600 basis points
Guidance is also hot, with 2025 revenue expected to exceed $43 billion
The only bad news is that guidance is only 230 bps above the consensus at the time of the report
indicating strength is getting priced into the outlook
the company forecasts a hyper 65% growth pace for the quarter and another strong margin likely to increase the cash balance significantly
The analysts’ response is mixed
including some downgrades and price target reductions
More analysts lifted their price targets or reiterated targets above the consensus
lifting MarketBeat’s reported consensus by roughly 150 basis points overnight
The 150 bps gain isn’t much but suggests a 28% upside from the pre-release closing price
which is another 25% to 30% upside if reached
Their price action also shows signs of support that aligns with bullish markets and is a good sign for the S&P 500 index generally
The critical resistance point for NVIDIA is the all-time high near $153
NVIDIA’s stock price could quickly move above the $160 level
NVIDIA’s price action could remain range-bound until later in the year
including Rubin and increasing auto-segment strength

Cost: $63.5 millionLocation: White & Carroll counties
Ind.Year: 2014-12-15Size: 2,838 acres; 100-plus miles of shorelineOwner: Twin Lakes Regional Sewer DistrictDesigners: Reynolds Inc.
the Twin Lakes Regional Sewer District (TLRSD) set out to clean up Lake Freeman and Lake Shaffer
reservoirs of the Tippecanoe River in north-central Indiana
Failing septic systems were contaminating the lakes with E
so the TLRSD was looking for an environmentally sound sewer alternative to improve public health and safety
Because of the rural area’s rough terrain of water tables and bedrock
the TLRSD could not afford a traditional gravity system
Engineers instead opted for a $63 million low-pressure sewer system
which was not only less expensive than a gravity system
but also required shallow trenching and thus caused less environmental damage
What resulted was the largest grinder pump-driven low-pressure sewer system in the Western Hemisphere
The TLRSD replaced deteriorating septic systems in 14 areas with this system to improve water quality
More than 180 miles of high-density polyethylene pipe cross the lakes eight times and the Tippecanoe River three times
The project was completed in December 2013
servicing approximately 8,000 residential and commercial customers
with an expected flow capacity of 1.285 million gal per day delivered to four separate wastewater treatment plants in the area
“The mere scale of the project is further indication of grinder pump-driven pressure sewers not being the alternative
but being the appropriate technology solution for more environmentally conscious communities moving forward,” said Eric Lacoppola

DHL Supply Chain has signed a long-term agreement with the global power management company Eaton to create and manage three distribution centres for their Electrical business in Europe
Over the next few years, the contract logistics specialist within Deutsche Post DHL Group will consolidate Eaton’s major standalone distribution centre capabilities throughout Europe into three high-performing and integrated primary distribution centres
where the current DHL managed distribution centre will be expanded
“Eaton has been a valued partner for years and we are delighted to further intensify our collaboration
Based on DHL Supply Chain’s broad expertise in devising integrated supply chain solutions
we developed the Rheinbach concept for a full warehouse consolidation
fit out and full automation to the initial setup and operation,” said Oscar de Bok
a new building is being planned which will serve Eaton’s customers in Western Europe
The green field construction is scheduled to start in the fourth quarter 2017
with DHL storing and distributing different electric components such as switch cabinets
fuses and control devices in the new warehouse after its completion in 2018
The goal is to create a more efficient warehousing concept enabled by a fully automated solution and thereby reducing overall run times to meet increased customer demand
“Providing tailored contract logistics solutions is one of our globally proven strengths and the newly to-be-constructed warehousing solution will help Eaton to prepare its business for a successful future,” Karsten Schwarz
“The new facility will not only provide a significant increase in productivity due to its innovative set up but also demonstrates DHL’s commitment to the wider Bonn region.”
As both DHL and Eaton have a strong commitment for sustainability with corresponding goals
the new warehousing site is to comply with the standards of the German Society for Sustainable Construction (DGNB) and will be built to achieve the silver certificate of the association
As DHL already has a significant footprint in Europe
this revised distribution approach would also provide strong future prospects to the majority of distribution centre employees from Eaton covered by this agreement
who have been given the opportunity to join DHL following the completion process
With these new agreements, Deutsche Post DHL Group and Eaton are taking the next step in extending their strategic partnership. Since 2008, DHL has been supporting Eaton in the review and improvement of its supply chains across the globe
winning the company’s Best Supplier Award in 2016
Spat over whether Sevenoaks should continue to forge links with our European neighbours or look elsewhere in a post Brexit world
By Debbie King · 29 June 2021
A former Tory councillor has sparked a row over Sevenoaks' continuing links to its twin towns in Germany and France
is calling for an end to grants which support visits between Pontoise in France and the German town of Rheinbach
But the call has angered political opponents who say the links between Sevenoaks and its European neighbours are about friendships which are paid for my individuals - and not the council
The spat broke out after father of two Mr Dodds
suggested Sevenoaks Town Council would be better off
"I have nothing against the EU -but we are now required to lift our heads up above the horizon
We are required to be global Britain and that is what Sevenoaks should do as well," he said
said the links meant taxpayers were subsidising "boondogger" trips - or useless projects - and there were worthier towns
"There are two towns of Sevenoaks I can think of - one in Tennessee and a small settlement in Kwazulu Natal which has a timber mill and school
"Wouldn't it be great if we were to say we were going to support the primary school of Sevenoaks in Kwazulu Natal?" he asked
But town councillor and keen twinning advocate
Tony Clayton said the grants paid were limited sums handed to the twinning associations of both Pontoise and Rheinbach to fund return visits
These had not taken place and there was therefore no grants to withdraw
"The point about Sevenoaks’ twin towns is that the links are not run by any council
but by groups of residents who build friendships
"They pay for their own trips and stay with families in each town when they visit
Both Pontoise and Rheinbach are close enough to leave Sevenoaks on an early train and arrive in time for lunch," he said
"Twinning is not about politically correct signals
and genuinely engaging with lives in other countries
"My family has gained from a lasting friendship started with a French exchange like this in 1939 (my dad didn’t get to do the return visit)
as well as through exchanges over the last 30 years with friends in Pontoise."
