It’s already time to prep for the 2024/25 campaign for the Rekordmeister
There is still a bitter feeling in the air after Germany was knocked out of EURO 2024 in the quarterfinals by virtue of a 2-1 loss to Spain in Stuttgart
There was belief in the team again after positive performances in the tournament that got them up to the quarterfinals under Julian Nagelsmann at a time when the team
so desperately needed a breath of fresh air
Germany had been underperforming for a multitude of different reasons for far too long and looked a shade of their 2014 World Cup winning selves
However, the world still turns and it is now already time for Germany’s Bayern Munich contingent to look forward to preseason; a preseason that has already started for those Bayern players that were not on international duty earlier this summer with their nations
Vincent Kompany has already taken charge of his first training session as Bayern manager
sparking the true beginning of a new era for the Rekordmeister as they look to shake off their first season without silverware in over a decade
Bayern already has a packed summer training schedule that includes a trip to South Korea where they will play a friendly against Tottenham Hotspur, but another friendly has recently been added to their preseason agenda. Per the club’s website
they will host a friendly against regional league side Rottach-Egern; a side that they have face a handful of times before
but it is a friendly match just meant to jumpstart the legs for the Bayern players and give the Rottach-Egern players an experience of a lifetime to square up against the superstars
The friendly will coincide with the beginning of Bayern’s training camp in Tegernsee
a beautiful resort town in Bavaria where Bayern always has a part of their preseason training camp
Unless another friendly is added between now and the start of Bayern’s competitive season
they will have played friendlies against Rottach-Egern
and Tottenham before their first round DFB-Pokal clash at SSV Ulm in what will be Kompany’s first competitive match in charge of the club
Here are three observations from Bayern Munich’s 14-1 win over Rottach-Egern:
Rottach-Egern should not be keeping Bayern scoreless for 23 minutes
The main reason for Bayern’s inability to score was opposition goalkeeper Florian Weiß
who stood on his head to thwart every Bavarian attempt that came near his goal
Though perhaps some of his saves were aided by poor finishing from the forwards
some other saves he pulled off were genuinely world class
Maybe Germany has found its’ Manuel Neuer successor already..
There is the natural temptation every pre-season to read into the result of a match and make it seem more dramatic or impactful than it really is
Vincent Kompany’s Bayern scored 13 less goals than Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern
a chance for fans to see new players in action and a joy for Rottach-Egern
who simultaneously came away with an acceptable result and even managed to score a goal
Speaking of fans seeing new players in action
who the casual Bayern fans have not yet met
who were given a chance to leave their mark and did so with aplomb
Javier Fernandez controlled the pace the entire first half long
Adin Ličina finally broke the deadlock with a skilled finish and immediately added a second
while his impressive off-the-ball movement was a pleasant surprise
Preseason is always a chance for youngsters to shine
Aleksandar Pavlović and Frans Krätzig grabbed their chances in the 2023 preseason and there are plenty of youngsters who could do the exact same this time around
It might not have been 27-0 like last summer
but it’s just about going through the paces
It might not have been 27-0 like it was this time last summer, but Bayern Munich got its first preseason friendly under their belts in customary fashion
beating FC Rottach-Egern 14-1 in Tegernsee in Vincent Kompany’s first unofficial match in charge of Bayern
The squad is still without all of the international players that made it out of the group stages at the European Championships earlier this summer
but it was Kompany’s first chance to see his squad in action
albeit against a much lesser opponent that applies their craft in the ninth tier of German football
A lot of the young guns were at the heart of the action for Bayern as Mathys Tel’s hat-trick and braces from both Mudaser Sadat and Adin Ličina lead Bayern’s scoring against Rottach-Egern with the other goals coming from Noussair Mazraoui
and Boey were the only senior players in the squad for Kompany
Kompany might have been just a bit concerned when it took Bayern slightly over 20 minutes to break the deadlock in Tegernsee
he would not have been too pleased with the goal Rottach-Egern scored in the 29th minute
even if there was a slight suggestion of a handball from Tobias Schlichtner
Kompany said that the feeling around training camp in Tegernsee has been positive thus far and that he liked what he saw in the friendly
even if the scoreline was not as high as it has been in recent summer’s past
it is more about the tradition of the occasion and getting the minutes in the legs
Next up for Bayern is a friendly against FC Duren this weekend in Jülich, German before they jet out for their brief Audi Summer tour in South Korea, where they will play friendlies against Tottenham Hotspur
Kompany will oversee his first competitive match in charge of Bayern at SSV Ulm in the first round of the DFB-Pokal

Will Josip Stanišić have a spot in Bayern Munich’s lineup
Last summer, Bayern Munich defender Josip Stanišić was the odd-man out of Thomas Tuchel’s rotation and was shipped away to Bayer Leverkusen where all he did was be a key contributor on a team that nearly pulled off a perfect season
The move would prove to be great for the player
but awful for the club as Bayern Munich desperately needed a versatile and dependable defender capable of playing across the back line
but does not have a clear indication of what the future might hold for him under new coach Vincent Kompany
When asked about where he would be playing
“Most likely right-back, but it always depends on what the coach is planning tactically. We haven’t talked about it specifically yet,” Stanišić told Abendzeitung’s Maximilian Koch
Stanišić’s versatility could be something Kompany toys with
the Croatian defender needs to prove he can be “the man” in Bavaria
where the lights shine a little brighter than they do at the BayArena

Vincent Kompany took the mice for a presser

IT was a familiar feeling for German minnows Rottach-Egern as they were hammered 14-1 by Bayern Munich
The friendly has become the traditional curtain raiser for Bayern's season - with the Munich club battering Rottach-Egern 27-0 last season
it was an improvement compared to the last result for the German minnows
The game was Vincent Kompany's first in charge since his shock move to the club from Burnley
Rumoured Manchester United target Noussair Mazraoui was on the scoresheet as he continues to be linked with a £20million move to the Red Devils
Reacting to the scoreline on X, Bayern Munich wrote: "We’re just being friendly 😁"
One fan said: "What if it was competitive?"
Another said: "against a team that no one knows."
And some fans said they should have won by more with one writing: "You’d be as well setting up manikins and playing against them"
Another said: "You people do this every year with this club
it’s getting pretty old…we need real competition for our preseason fixtures sigh."
A third wrote: "They play these same guys every time and cook them 🤣🤣🤣"
A fourth compared the result to last season and said Bayern: "Fell off bad."
Kompany said the friendly with the minnows was an important "tradition"
He said: "It's nice to be here with the fans
I know how important this tradition is for the club
We've implemented everything we intended in the last few days - and also got a look at the young players
"We're pleased with the game today
The boys fought for every ball and always tried to be positive
We're still missing a number of players
"Hopefully we'll get everybody back fit over the coming weeks. It's important that we're fit for the cup match and then the start of the Bundesliga."
Harry Kane was absent as he continues his recovery from the Euros
With England reaching the final
he has been given an extended period of time off
Michael Olise was also prevented from making his Bayern debut as he is with the France squad for the Olympics

Rottach-Egern, an amateur club based roughly 30 miles south of Munich, felt the full force of Bayern's star-studded attack as Thomas Tuchel fielded a side full of first-team players.
Marcel Sabitzer, Jamal Musiala and 18-year-old Mathys Tel scored five goals each.
Serge Gnabry netted a hat-trick, while Kingsley Coman, Alphonso Davies, Leroy Sane, Dayot Upamencano, Sadio Mane, Konrad Laimer, Raphael Guerreiro, Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazraoui also found the net.
The game, which was streamed live on Facebook, saw Bayern average a goal every 3.33 minutes.
This was not the first time that Bayern had played against Rottach-Egern.
The two teams previously faced each other in 2018 and 2019, with Bayern winning 20-2 and 23-0.
Bayern have therefore beaten Rottach-Egern 70-2 on aggregate over their three meetings.

Bayern Munich did not hold back in their latest pre-season friendly as they won 27-0 against amateur side FC Rottach-Egern, with Marcel Sabitzer, Jamal Musiala and Mathys Tel all scoring five goals each

Bayern Munich are holding their training camp in Tagernsee
which is an achingly beautiful town south of Munich
FC Rottach-Egern are just a local team from a nearby town
It’s a place roughly the size of somewhere like Chipping Norton and its football club has fewer than a thousand members
That was back in 2019 and Bayern won that game 23-0
It poses an obvious question: what’s the point
it’s not unusual for German teams to play these games or to run up big scores within them
A lot of them favour training camps in Austrian or Southern European towns and these friendlies offer a good chance to soft launch or road test whatever has been worked on and in a less than strenuous environment
offering a rare opportunity for local supporters to come within touching distance of — in Bayern’s case — some of the very best players in the world
It’s a match from a different era of the game

45 mins to kickoff: Bayern still haven’t announced lineups
but that’s probably because the Kim Min-Jae transfer is hogging all the spotlight
While the transfer window may still be open, Bayern Munich have already begun preparing for the new season with a training camp in the Bavarian town of Tegernsee
Today the club have scheduled a friendly game against local side FC Rottach-Egern
which will be our first chance to see what Thomas Tuchel has been working on for the new season
The last time these two sides played each other
Bayern scored 23 goals without letting in any
However we may get to see players such as Raphael Guerreiro and Konrad Laimer don a Bayern kit for the first time
and find out whether Tuchel is training his team in a back four or a back three
this game is mostly to soothe the itch until the actual preseason friendlies start

once home to Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov
has been listed for sale at a record-breaking price
According to the German newspaper Münchner Merkur
the property is being sold to settle offshore company debts
The initial asking price exceeds $25.6 million
marking the highest price ever recorded on Immowelt
a German real estate platform that has been operating since 1996
The sale is being managed by Ulrich Cramer
following a court order in the Bavarian city of Wolfratshausen
The court ruled that the villa must be sold to repay creditors of Tegernsee (IOM) Limited
an Isle of Man-registered offshore company that purchased the property in 2011 for $7.3 million
located in Rottach-Egern on the shores of Lake Tegernsee
Usmanov reportedly rented the estate from Tegernsee (IOM) Limited for $78,785 per week after its purchase
acquiring two more houses through other offshore entities—one of which was used exclusively for his staff
Usmanov initially traveled to Bavaria for medical treatment in Munich
The billionaire reportedly admired the scenic beauty of Rottach-Egern
“The charm of this unique place in Rottach-Egern is that I felt like I was in Uzbekistan.” (T-online)
the offshore company linked to the property employed 12 staff members to maintain Usmanov’s Bavarian residence
earlier reports regarding Usmanov’s financial dealings were challenged in court—a Hamburg court previously ruled that a German television report about the billionaire contained inaccuracies
With its breathtaking lakeside location and history of high-profile ownership
this Bavarian villa is now making headlines as the most expensive residential property ever listed in Germany

Props to the gallant opposition. Amateur side FC Rottach-Egern lined up for another pummeling at the hands of Bayern Munich this time

Getting the nod at right-back, the Moroccan international showed why he should be in Thomas Tuchel’s plans this season. The Austrian international’s free transfer from RB Leipzig has been almost an afterthought in the midst of the sacking of the manager he’d worked with at Leipzig and who was at Bayern when he decided to come — Julian Nagelsmann — and amid new manager Thomas Tuchel’s public hunt for different profiles in central midfield on the transfer market
But Nagelsmann’s pressing machine didn’t look a bit out of place in Tuchel’s system
The teenage wonderkid will be out to prove something this preseason — namely
that maybe Bayern don’t need to be dropping €100m on a new striker
Tel earned the start at striker and while many of his early efforts were frustrated
Tel and Musiala combined so smoothly and effortlessly in attack it’s easy to already imagine this duo for years and years to come
The man who scored the final and title-clinching goal of the 2022/23 season for Bayern opened the team’s preseason account barely three minutes into the match
which is to say precociously brilliant and outrageously bold
This man is going to slice through many defenses with little more effort than he appeared to show today as he smoothly collected five first-half goals and who knows how many assists
it’s the other facets of his game that stand out more and more
Musiala will put in a shift defensively — he can be a strong option in central midfield when needed — and is polishing up his playmaking
The placement on his first half hockey-assist
just past the defender and down the left wing
a breezily terrific start for the youngster as he looks to bolster his confidence from the ups and downs of the last Rückrunde

It was a busy day for Thomas Tuchel's club off the pitch as well, with Bayern announcing the signing of Kim Min-Jae from Napoli shortly before the game and appointing former FC Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund to the same position at the Bundesliga champions
The club's sporting director, Hasan Salihamidžić, was famously fired after Bayern clinched an 11th consecutive Bundesliga title on the final day of the season. Bayern were second going into the final round, where they beat Borussia Dortmund to the title thanks to a late goal from Musiala coupled with Dortmund's draw with Mainz
In South Korea international Kim, who was in attendance for the game on Tuesday, Bayern are adding a towering and versatile defender who helped Napoli to a first Serie A title in three decades
as well as his mentality and speed," Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said
"We're pleased he can immediately take part fully in preseason and firmly believe that he will also excite our fans with his style of play."

“FC Bayern is a dream for every footballer,” Kim said

it was made clear to me from the start how interested they are in me

Kim played 45 matches in all competitions in Naples, scoring twice. He announced he had left the Italian side on Tuesday.
“I send this message to all the Napoli fans who have shown love and support. Thanks to you the Scudetto was possible after [Diego] Maradona, 33 years ago,” Kim wrote on Instagram.

At halftime, Bayern Munich were already 18:0 up thanks to a hattrick by Serge Gnabry.
Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have thumped a local side FC Rottach-Egern, a club in the Bavarian town of Tegernsee, 27-0 in their first pre-season friendly match at the Tegernsee training camp on Tuesday.
Rottach-Egern play in the ninth tier of the German club football league pyramid.
The trio of Jamal Musiala, Mathys Tel and Marcel Sabitzer scored five goals each. Ten other players were all on the scoresheet. At halftime, Bayern Munich were already 18-0 up thanks to a hattrick by Serge Gnabry.
Alphonso Davies, Konrad Laimer, Noussair Mazraoui, Dayot Upamecano, Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala and Mathys Tel all found the back of the net during the first 45 minutes of the one-sided encounter.
Twenty-two minutes into the second half Marcel Sabitzer, who recently returned from a loan spell with Manchester United, scored five times consecutively to make it 23-0.
More goals by Raphael Guerreiro, Ryan Gravenberch, Kingsley Coman and Sadio Mane late in the game sealed the win for the Bavarians.
Both teams have played three times since 2018 and have ended in a 70-2 aggregate score in favour of Bayern Munich. The first-ever meeting between the two clubs in 2018 ended 20- 2. They played 23-0 a year later before the recent record 27-0 win.
Head coach Thomas Tuchel and his team will remain camped in Tegernsee until Thursday to complete their training camp before the Allianz FC Bayern team presentation is on July 23 at the Allianz Arena and subsequently head to Tokyo for the first part of the Audi Summer Tour.

If ninth-tier side Rottach-Egern thought Bayern Munich would use Tuesday's pre-season match as a chance to gently shake off the rust after a lengthy break they were sadly mistaken

The French defender’s debut has been long-anticipated by the Bayern Munich faithful
If there is one debut that most Bayern Munich fans have been waiting for all preseason, it is that of former Atlético Madrid defender and 2018 World Cup winner with France
who still unexpectedly holds the mantle as Bayern Munich’s most expensive transfer ever
finally got on the pitch for today’s friendly against FC Rottach-Egern in Tegernsee

but Hernandez’s presence on the pitch should signal the dawn of a new era on the back-line for Bayern Munich
The versatile 6-footer is expected to slot in next to Niklas Süle as Bayern’s starting left center-back
Hernandez could also see time as a back-up at left-back
though Alphonso Davies has been given plenty of playing time so far this preseason at that spot
and versatility are all valuable traits that Bayern coach Niko Kovac will be looking to take advantage of this season
