StratenschulteAdvertisementAsylum-seekers in eastern Germany are 10 times more likely to be hate crime victims as those who live in the west
Researchers from the Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) looked at 1,155 incidents that took place between 2013 and 2015
The Mannheim-based center found that they were most frequent in the Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge administrative district near the Czech border
with 9.76 attacks per 100,000 people in 2015
Next-worst, when it came to hate crime against asylum-seekers
was the northeastern district of Uckermark
in the state of Brandenburg on the Polish border
In third place was the district of Saalekreis in the state of Saxony Anhalt
All three areas are in the part of Germany that was once part of the country's Soviet-controlled East
and which have traditionally had fewer immigrants than the West

there were 118 districts across Germany in which not a single attack was reported
The study's authors said that the number of immigrants in a particular district is not the decisive factor in the level of hate crime. More important, they say, is the amount of experience that residents have with immigration
In western parts of Germany, residents have long had more experience with foreigners, such as the Turkish guest workers who arrived in the country in the 1960s
Economic conditions in the region also play only a minor role
Hate crimes against foreigners had "primarily no economic motive," they stressed

Instead of focusing on economic improvements
there was a need to increase the awareness and compassion of locals when it came to the plight of asylum-seekers
The authors also said hate crimes were more likely in areas where comparable offenses have already been committed in the past and where "xenophobic views appear to be hardened."

One of the reasons was the trouble-free operation of the construction machinery used
which is an important factor for me as a medium-sized contractor," Felix explained

a Doosan 14 tonne DX140LCR-5 excavator was used to load it into FW Bau’s own trucks

German contractor heaps high praise on construction machinery including a DX255LC excavator
have purchased a new Doosan DX255LC excavator from authorized dealers Atlas Hannover Baumaschinen GmbH & Co
One of its first projects was dismantling a concrete tank at a sewage treatment plant at Malente
the DX255LC machine demonstrated its performance
it was expected that it would take three weeks to demolish the tank
which had a 14m diameter and stood at 14m high
The Doosan excavator has exceeded expectations and helped reprocess some 200 cubic metres of demolished concrete
the demolition project took two weeks to complete (one week ahead of schedule) and a key contributing factor to the success of the contract was the trouble-free operation of the construction machinery used
While the 25-tonne DX255LC excavator was used to demolish and handle C&D material with the help of a jaw crusher
a Doosan DX140LCR-5 excavator was utilized to load the waste into FW Bau’s own haul trucks
Since taking delivery of the DX255LC excavator
the demolition contractor has boosted its Doosan equipment which now includes: a DX63-3
FW Bau have a new Doosan wheel loader order on order
Mr Wessel commented: ‘If the worst comes to worst
we can fully rely on the team from Atlas Hannover and thankfully so far
I can say that none of the Doosan machines has had a problem.’
