KS Gleitlager GmbH has officially inaugurated a district heating and local heating system at its site in St
Leon-Rot (Rhein-Neckar district) on 28 November 2024
the company will reduce its CO2 emissions by up to 800 tons per year in the future – a valuable contribution to achieving the group's sustainability goal of becoming CO₂-neutral by 2035
This is made possible by the cooperation with the neighbouring SLR Giesserei (foundry)
which can only partially utilise the waste heat generated by the process itself
underground circulation system with two water pipes is being created
water at a temperature of around 80 degrees flows from the foundry to the KS Gleitlager technical centre
the water releases the heat again - as energy for various production processes and
The now cooled water returns to the foundry through the second pipe
where it is reheated in the production process
The project was realized under the direction of CEIH GmbH
the neighboring foundry previously had to cool down its excess waste heat at great expense and release it into the environment
KS Gleitlager GmbH will be able to significantly reduce its natural gas consumption for generating process and heating energy in the future
the environment will benefit from this newly created cycle system between the two companies – through less waste heat and reduced CO2 emissions
we support our customers every day in reducing friction losses and increasing the efficiency and service life of their products
the idea of sustainability is an integral part of our company,” says Dr
CEO of KS Gleitlager GmbH.” I am all the more pleased that we have been able to successfully implement this lighthouse project together with SLR and CEIH.”
“Planning and implementing the technology was not always easy
but in the end we were able to optimize the system for providing heat and to maximize the temperature level,” confirms Alexander Czuberny
“We have put a lot of heart and soul into this project,” explains Ralf Hauswirth
tax and legal guidelines and revised the route planning several times
the effort paid off and we are very proud to have mastered all the challenges well.”
KS Gleitlager GmbH is a subsidiary of the Düsseldorf-based technology group Rheinmetall
Its high-quality products are sold through a global distribution network that extends far beyond the automotive industry
The Rheinmetall subsidiary KS Gleitlager is known for its high-precision plain bearings
In addition to primary material production with its own aluminium foundry and sintering facilities
production also includes highly complex forming processes through to fully automated testing facilities for the final quality inspection
The batch sizes that can be produced economically range from 1 to millions
The SLR Group produces over 130,000 tonnes of machine parts in high-quality nodular cast iron every year

The company revamped the RISE with SAP migration incentives program at the start of the year, promising to cut the cost of moving to cloud in half and provide customers with technical support to limit disruptions. SAP also created a board-level migration unit at that time

TSG Hoffenheim were not a household name to many women’s football fans for a long time until they suddenly went from a mid-table Frauen Bundesliga club to a Champions League side
Hoffenheim didn’t even have a women’s team until 2007
they beat Swedish runners-up Rosengard in the UWCL qualification
In a group of death with the reigning champions Barcelona
they have little chances to reach the quarterfinals
they impressed many with their empathic 5-0 win against HG Køge
It may have taken until 2007 for Hoffenheim to form
After overtaking the players and youth teams of two local clubs
Establishing themselves in the highest league was perhaps the biggest challenge on their way to the top
Frauen Bundesliga is not to be underestimated
Many promoted teams have struggled with the increased intensity
they finished ninth and avoided relegation
It first looked like Hoffenheim would become a normal mid-table club
The side from a village with only 3,000 inhabitants finished sixth
and Freiburg – have claimed this spot in the last couple of years
So finishing third once by no means meant that they were already a serious competitor for Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg
the club could convince their best players of staying instead of taking the next step somewhere else
Isabella Hartig and Tabea Waßmuth both racked up 12 goals and Nicole Billa scored 18
but despite having offers from bigger clubs
Last season, they proved their success wasn’t a one-time-wonder, by qualifying for the UWCL and beating Bayern. Even though they seemed to face a difficult season, having lost top players, they managed to beat Wolfsburg
Hoffenheim went from playing against the likes of TSG HD Rohrbach
to facing Barcelona in the Champions League
What are the reasons for this extraordinary rise
The three main factors for Hoffenheim’s success are a professional infrastructure
none of this would have been possible without considerable financial support
The first and most obvious reason is financial backing from the club
and constructed a modern training centre for the academy
TSG Hoffenheim is supported by the corporation SAP
the world’s largest non-American software company by revenue
This has earned them the unflattering reputation of being a ‘plastic club’ – a club that is nothing more than a marketing project
That’s why Hoffenheim have tried to improve their reputation for quite some time by supporting social projects
While some in the club may genuinely care about women’s football
it is likely that polishing Hoffenheim’s image was one of the aims too
Support from the club doesn’t mean the women’s department has unlimited resources
and it’s much smaller than that of Bayern or Wolfsburg
Hoffenheim’s rise is a good example of how much can be achieved with little means
Hoffenheim started building a training centre just for the women’s teams in 2009
The first team was still in the third tier back then
a physiotherapy room and training rooms is not a matter of course in the third league
where most teams can only dream of Hoffenheim’s facilities
youth and senior players can combine football and education
The club cooperates with four schools and four universities in the region to help them to find a balance
Youth players go to the training centre after school and Hoffenheim provides tutors to help them with their schoolwork
This attracts players from other clubs and promotes the development of young players
Hoffenheim are also more professional than most Frauen Bundesliga clubs when it comes to the staff
she is now working as Hoffenheim’s sport psychologist for the men’s
Having a psychologist on the team is also a rarity in the Frauen Bundesliga
which can give Hoffenheim a mental advantage
No matter how modern the training centre is
it would be of no use if it was not combined with good scouting
Hoffenheim have several junior national players that came up from their academy or were scouted as teenagers.
A key factor for their development is Hoffenheim’s second team
the team consists almost entirely of academy players
The step from youth teams to senior level is a difficult one
and many talents struggle to adapt to the higher intensity
Hoffenheim’s future stars have ideal opportunities to thrive
They get enough playing time and experience on a high level while training with the first team
There are several examples proving that this way works well
probably Hoffenheim’s most exciting offensive player
the breakthrough into the first team is very difficult
which is why many of their promising talents go on loan or join other clubs
players like Gia Corley are more likely to get a chance
The talented 19-year-old No.10 made the move from Bayern to Hoffenheim this summer to become a starter there and develop further
as she is on the way to becoming one of Hoffenheim’s most important players
“I am very happy that I took the step and switched to TSG
the team behind the team also fits and I feel totally valued here
I’m really looking forward to the rest of my time at Hoffenheim
It’s a win-win situation for Hoffenheim and Corley
The club gets a technically gifted player that has received an excellent football education
while she gains experience and the chance to prove herself
it is obvious that they are targeting the Austrian and Swiss league
as they have six players from these countries
Hoffenheim seems like the perfect environment for them because they can make the step to a stronger league and are not too far away from their home country
The strategy has proven to be successful – and Nicole Billa and Katharina Naschenweng are now standout players
Hoffenheim prioritised continuity and solid development over rapid success
They developed a concept ten years ago and stuck to their plan
even if they didn’t seem to progress for some years
for 12 years and went all the way up with him
Ehrmann did not leave because he was fired
but because he had a second job and he wanted Hoffenheim to have a coach who could fully focus on the team
Hoffenheim’s playing style has not changed very much over the years and they stayed true to their philosophy
Gabor Gallai’s side is known for always playing out from the back
overloading the left wing with Naschenweng and Brand and defending as a collective
Hoffenheim have also scored two goals after set pieces against both Freiburg and Frankfurt
The matches against Bayern and Arsenal have shown the limits of this young team
When they play against a team that has a solid defense and players who find and exploit the spaces
If they can continue their good development of the last few years
there is nothing to prevent them from becoming a real top team
The next step for the team would be to become fully professional
most players have a part-time job or study
This would allow them to fully realise their potential and consolidate their status as one of Germany’s three top teams

Angela Stanford was introduced Thursday as the next U.S
leading a young core of Americans who are coming off a victory and will try to win the cup overseas for the first time in more than a decade
Stanford was on the last American team that won away from home, in 2015 in Germany when Juli Inkster was at the helm. She was an assistant on the last three teams, including what she calls a “massive” victory in Virginia last September
team was so young that 10 of the 12 players had never experienced what it was like to win the Solheim Cup
“Virginia was big for a lot of these players
and I hope getting a taste of that win and getting a taste of what it meant ..
you can't feel something you've never felt before
The 2026 matches will be held at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands
Anna Nordqvist of Sweden had been selected captain for Europe
Stanford, 47, has seven LPGA Tour victories, including her lone major in the 2018 Evian Championship when she was 40
and was at the last three as an assistant to Pat Hurst (2021 ) and Stacy Lewis (2023 and 2024)
Lewis was captain for consecutive years because the Ryder Cup went back to odd-numbered years after the COVID-19 pandemic and the Solheim Cup went back to even-numbered years
It was Stanford's second stint as an assistant — the tie in Spain
with Europe retaining the cup as defending champion — that she first thought how much she would like to be captain
“I've always wanted to be a captain overseas,” Stanford said
I got to play on two of the teams that have won the Solheim Cup overseas
I played a lot of different team sports and I loved going to other people's gyms
“It doesn't bother me to go into a hostile environment and try to play and try to perform.”
The core of the American team is Nelly Korda and Lilia Vu
with multiple major championships between them
players were in their 20s at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club
Stanford expects there to be some turnover
as there was even a year apart between the 2023 and 2024 matches
especially a team she watched celebrate into the night after winning the last time
“I think I'm pretty fortunate and pretty blessed to be in this line of a solid core,” Stanford said
They're all going to be playing really well.”
Among the two players who had previously won a Solheim Cup is Lexi Thompson
who said 2024 would be her final year of a full schedule
and Stanford would not rule out Thompson being on the 2026 team if her play warranted it
“She's earned that right to do what she wants to do," Stanford said
Lexi is just one of those names you always pay attention to
There's certain players that have earned that right.”

The first hole at the 2023 Solheim Cup will be unlike anything else in event history
That’s because organizers at Finca Cortesin in Spain have created a drivable par-4 opening hole to crank up the challenge and suspense
The new 280-yard par 4 has a large lake on the left side that reaches to the front of a sizable green
"It is a good decision to have made this change," said Finca Cortesin managing director Vicente Rubio in a release
“The characteristics of the new hole one will allow us to accommodate more than 1,000 people over the tee
I think it's the perfect hole to start a Solheim Cup
Players can either try to reach the green with one shot or play more conservatively
The design of the hole and the great difference in height between the tee and the green will make it a spectacle
and I have no doubt that it will be a success.”
The event will be held in Spain for the first time one year from now
"I don't think we've ever had a first hole like this in the Solheim Cup,” said Lewis
but the water comes into play quite a lot...It's like an amphitheater
which will make the public feel very close
It's definitely a great hole for the Solheim Cup.”

European Captain Iben Tinning is expecting an intense battle for places when qualification for the European PING Junior Solheim Cup team gets underway in Spain on Wednesday
The Danish former Solheim Cup player has been studying the statistics and she believes there will be more competition for places than there has ever been before in the lead up to this year’s match at Golf Club St
“It’s going to be a tough team to get onto,” said the four-time Solheim Cup player
“We have a lot more strength in depth than we used to and the players now seem to come from all over Europe
“A lot of our most experienced amateurs are no longer eligible but there are more than enough younger players to take their place
There’s a strong nucleus of 16-17 year-olds but also quite a few 14-15 year-olds who are already playing well enough to challenge for the top girls’ titles.”
Altogether there are a total of eight qualification events with the Spanish International Ladies‘ Amateur at Real Club Pineda de Sevilla
Spain (Feb 25-March 1) being followed by the French International Lady Junior Championship at GC St Cloud
the Ladies’ British Open Amateur Championship at Portstewart GC
the European Girls’ Team Championship at Golf Resort Kaskada Brno
the European Ladies’ Team Championship at Helsingør
Denmark (July 7-11) and the ANNIKA Invitational Europe at Bro-Bålsta
Sweden (August 4-6) before being completed at the Girls’ British Open Championship at West Kilbride
At the end of the qualification process the first six players on the Ranking will earn an automatic place on the European team with the team being completed with six Captain’s picks
″It‘s a long haul so I would advise the girls not to get upset if they don’t get off to a great start in Spain and France,″ said Tinning
″I’d also like to take this opportunity to wish the girls all the best as they try to qualify for this year‘s team
I know a lot of the European girls will be desperate to make the side but if I had one bit of advice it would be to relax and play their own games rather than try to chase a place
″I remember I did that back in 2009 when Alison Nicholas was captain of our Solheim Cup team
I was desperate to play on her side but all that did was to increase the pressure on me and I ended up missing out
″I’d recommend that the girls focus on their own games“
″I’m sure if they can do that they will have a much better chance of making the team.″
is looking forward to following the qualification process and to the subsequent match at St Leon-Rot in which Europe will be bidding to cut the American’s 4-2-1 lead in the series
“Representing Europe and their home country on a PING Junior Solheim Cup team is an honour few girls are privileged to experience,” said Solheim
“With eight qualifying events in eight countries
we’ll be watching with great anticipation as the best compete to earn the 12 coveted spots on Captain Tinning’s European team
“The girls who make the team will experience a thrilling competition in Germany against their American opponents
while forming friendships that will last a lifetime.”
This year’s Spanish Ladies’ International Amateur has attracted a strong field from all across Europe
It includes Switzerland’s Albane Valenzuela
Spaniard’s Maria Parra and Alejandra Pasarin
Germany’s Esther Henseleit and Sweden’s Filippa Möörk all of whom meet the age requirement to qualify for this year’s European PING Junior Solheim Cup team

the United States has become worryingly accustomed to bruising experiences on golf courses
Last weekend’s Walker Cup success for Great Britain & Ireland continued the trend of US teams losing to what in black and white would appear to be inferior opposition
from amateur to professional and male to female
the United States discover their golfing collective does not reflect individual ability
And so to the 14th playing of the Solheim Cup, near Heidelberg in south-west Germany. Juli Inkster’s USA side are seeking to avoid what would be a third defeat in a row. Her approach has been of the back-to-basics variety; no face-painting, hair ribbons or butt-bumping will be permitted in the ranks. Weight of expectation extends beyond this event.
Read more“Pressure is what you make it,” said Inkster
“We are going to have to play very well to beat them and everybody in my team knows that
We have an opportunity to right the ship and what we do with that is up to us
I don’t think I have to stoke any fire with them
If they didn’t have competitiveness in them
“Golf is a funny game; you get momentum and things happen really quickly
It’s not like they ever go out there and try to lose; sometimes the other team just plays better and makes more putts
“The Solheim Cup only happens every two years so there is a lot of pressure to get things done at that time
I think sometimes we don’t handle that well.”
“We are just riding a good wave,” she said
Inkster’s cause has not been helped by a bout of food poisoning incurred by her only debutant
which at the very least will rule her out of Friday morning’s foursomes
Lee had been due to partner Michelle Wie in match two
with her place taken by Brittany Lincicome
Lee had not eaten for 48 hours and had been placed on an intravenous drip
“She just can’t shake off this stomach bug,” Inkster said
“I would be a little worried to send her out
“What I am worried about is her strength and being able to handle not only the mental aspect but also the physical aspect
It is definitely a disruption but a lot of teams have played with a man down and been successful
I don’t want her heave-hoing on the golf course
I want to put her out there when I feel like she can succeed and not have to play through what she has now
I have played without eating for a few days,” the Swede said
“Of course all of us are hoping that she will be fit to play at some stage before Sunday
Koch has mixed and matched her multinational team other than pairing two English players
“I knew they would like to play together,” she explained
They have games and personalities that go together
morning’s foursomes Nordqvist/Pettersen v Pressel/Creamer (USA); Hull/Reid v Wie/Lincicome (USA); Icher/Munoz v Kerr/Thompson (USA); Gal/Matthew v Lewis/Salas (USA)
Sarah Kellam is a Kentucky native and played collegiate golf at Northern Kentucky University

Paula Creamer defeated Germany's Sandra Gal to complete the turnaround and secure a 141/2-131/2 victory for the United States, which had trailed by four points going into the singles. The previous biggest comeback was two points in the event that began in 1990.
The match turned in the morning during the completion of three fourball matches that had been suspended Saturday because of darkness. The Americans were furious when rookie Alison Lee, paired with Seminole's Brittany Lincicome, was penalized at the 17th hole of their match for picking up the ball when she thought her par putt had been conceded, but the Europeans said it hadn't.
Had the putt been conceded, the hole would have been halved and the match would have been all-square with one hole to play. Instead, the European pair of England's Charley Hull and Norway's Suzann Pettersen was awarded the hole and went on to win the match.
The Americans thought Europe conceded when Hull and Pettersen started walking away. Hull said she wasn't walking away but was going to consult with Pettersen.
"So maybe … Alison thought she heard them say it was good because their backs were almost to us and they were kind of walking away," Lincicome said. "And they both said, 'No, we didn't say it was good.' I don't know if it was somebody in the crowd that said it. The putt was a foot. They had given us putts farther than that all day. And Alison just thought she heard it was good."
Pettersen demanded that Lee be penalized. She said she was simply playing by the rules and doing her best for her team, and would "totally" do it again.
Europe captain Carin Koch said the ball went too far to concede. "The rules are the rules. You have to follow the rules," she said.
U.S. captain Juli Inkster said there was "no way" the Europeans could justify calling for the penalty. "I don't care what you say, you just don't do that to your peers," she said. "I don't know if my team needed to be fired up anymore, but they were real fired up."
Lee, 20, and Hull, 19, were in tears after that match, and Inkster used what happened as motivation in her team talk before the singles.
"I'm disgusted," said Dame Laura Davies, a 12-time Solheim Cup player. "I'm disgusted. We have got our best player, Charley Hull, who has just won a point and she is in floods of tears. That tells you the wrong thing was done."
Europe led 10-6 going into the 12 singles but won only three — one was by France's Karine Icher against Lincicome, 3 and 2 — and drew another.
After lifting the trophy, Inkster was ready to move on from the controversy. "I'm over it," she said. "We got the Cup."
Sebastian Rühl has become the first man to be handed a senior captaincy role in the PING Junior Solheim Cup
The 31 year-old German national girls’ coach
has been selected as Iben Tinning’s Vice Captain for the European Team at this year’s match at St
He plans to use his experience and his knowledge of this year’s venue to help the European Team defeat their American rivals for the first time since 2007
Since the age of nine Sebastian wanted nothing more than to teach golf for a living
He started his apprenticeship straight from school under former German national coach Oliver Heuler and has subsequently built a reputation as one of Europe’s leading coaches
“It’s a great honour to be asked to be Vice Captain of the European Team at this year’s PING Junior Solheim Cup,” he said
“I was asked just before Christmas and it was the best present I could have had
“I’ve always wanted to coach at the highest level
It was a dream come true to be asked to coach the German national girls’ squad and this gives me the chance to use my skills on a major international stage
“I’m really looking forward to work with Iben and the rest of the team,“ he added
“I’m sure there will be some talk about me being the first man to have this sort of role in a women’s team but to me that’s irrelevant
It’s no different to what I do with the German girls’ squad
“All our focus will be on winning the trophy and I have been around the European game long enough to know we have more than enough good players to achieve that goal.”
Four-time Solheim Cup player and six-time LET winner Tinning was delighted Rühl accepted the job as Vice Captain and believes they can form a very successful partnership
“I know Sebastian works hard and is very dedicated,“ she said
He knows most of the girls who will be challenging for places in the team and he’s based at St
Leon-Rot so his local knowledge will be useful too
“It’s clear we’re both on the same wavelength,“ added the Captain
“We both want to win and there’s no reason why we can’t do it
Back in my days we tended to be a bit in awe of the Americans and that gave them a bit of an edge
but we’ve also got a lot of great players and it’s our job to send them out in the right frame of mind.”
The German Golf Federation was quick to congratulate Rühl on his appointment
“We were proud to be asked to be the Host Association for the PING Junior Solheim Cup at St
Leon Rot and are delighted that Sebastian has been selected as Vice Captain of the PING Junior Solheim Cup squad,” said Marcus Neumann
Member of the Board and Sports Director of the German Golf Association
“He has done a magnificent job since joining the Federation five years ago and his contribution since becoming head coach in 2013 cannot be exaggerated.”
“We are delighted the event will be in Germany and at GC St
Leon-Rot and that the PING Junior Solheim Cup and The Solheim Cup will be played at the same venue for the first time
We are looking forward to working with the German Golf Federation
Leon-Rot and the LET to make this year’s event the best ever
Sebastian’s experience and local knowledge will be of great benefit to the European team”

Denmark’s Iben Tinning has been appointed as the Captain of the European Team to play against America in the 2015 PING Junior Solheim Cup at Golf Club St Leon-Rot
The 40 year-old four-time Solheim Cup player takes over the role from Scotland’s Janice Moodie as Europe bids to win the biennial transatlantic contest featuring the 12 best female junior amateur players (born in 1997 and later) from both Europe and America for the first time since 2007

Germany – Suzann Pettersen galvanized Team USA in a way that face paint and hair ribbons never could
The hard-nosed Norwegian punched Alison Lee in the gut – metaphorically
of course – in early-morning four-balls with a shocking display of poor sportsmanship
The incident lit a fire under Juli Inkster’s charges
It was the biggest come-from-behind victory in Solheim Cup history
with Team USA overcoming a four-point deficit to triumph
The unforgettable finish gave the cup to the Americans for the first time since 2009
You've got to play with fire in your belly
said she was “disgusted” by Pettersen’s actions during the conclusion of Sunday morning four-balls
“Pettersen will regret this,” Davies said before the start of the singles session
The incident occurred on the 17th green when rookie Lee picked up an 18-inch putt for par that she thought Europe had conceded
Pettersen told the group’s rules official that the putt hadn’t been given
The miscommunication resulted in a loss of hole for Lee and partner Brittany Lincicome
After the Americans failed to birdie the final hole
3 Stacy Lewis told Lee that she had done nothing wrong and then implored her team to use it as motivation
Inkster called the Pettersen situation “B.S.”
a player who had lost her last nine Solheim Cup matches
drew Pettersen in singles and the chance to rewrite her legacy in this event
Those who turned on the Solheim Cup because of the controversy wound up seeing a spectacular display of golf
the classy LPGA rookie who fought food poisoning early in the week and then was gutted again by Pettersen
showed the world what she’s made of by carding seven birdies in a 3-and-1 victory over Gwladys Nocera
A maiden Solheim Cup point never felt so sweet
birdied six of seven holes in a 6-and-4 drumming of Caroline Hedwall
a player who Lewis said on Saturday didn’t know how good she was
drilled a must-make 9-foot putt for par on the 18th hole to keep Team USA’s dreams alive
She shared a warm and teary embrace with husband Martin Piller
“Juli has been talking about playing for the girl in front of you and behind you,” Piller said
an unrelenting Cristie Kerr poured in a mind-blowing nine birdies in 12 holes to take down the previously unbeaten Hull
the player who earlier this week said she’d been a poor teammate in past cups and made it a point in Germany to lift up her team no matter how she fared personally
15 and 16 gave her the victory over Pettersen
“It’s the coolest team I've ever been a part of,” Stanford said
the final chapter of this story belonged to Paula Creamer
Creamer carded five birdies in a 4-and-3 victory over Sandra Gal
the darling of Germany who had played above her ranking all week
It capped one of the greatest displays of golf in LPGA history
not only for our country and for our team,” Creamer said
I just wanted to go out and prove a lot of things.”
didn’t see how the situation could’ve been handled any differently
but said that she and Inkster hugged it out and moved on
Inkster came into the week preaching to her charges to play loosely and aggressively
She put them in pods and dressed them in cardigans and Converse
sending them off to work with their blue-collar lunch pails
Inkster did everything she could to create a fun environment
It was one of great mutual respect for the other side
turned crazy and ended in a way that no one could have predicted
“I’ve been a player; I’ve been a captain,” said Inkster
“and being a captain is just – it’s the greatest feeling in the world."

Business software giant SAP AG announced a Platform-as-a-Service offering underpinned by HANA
Like its competitors in the enterprise software space
the German company is going after the market for providing a streamlined way for developers to rapidly build and deploy enterprise applications
The announcement comes about one week after IBM rolled out beta version of an enterprise PaaS called BlueMix, based on the open source Cloud Foundry PaaS technology. Oracle launched its PaaS offering in 2012
Microsoft's Windows Azure services have been around since 2008
and Salesforce has made Force.com into market leader in the eight years that the PaaS has been around
There are also a few serious new contenders for enterprise PaaS market share
SAP's PaaS includes in-memory computing infrastructure
member of SAP's executive board who leads all product and innovation initiatives at the company
said HANA had two major advantages: deep understanding of the application workload and the underlying infrastructure
Sikka and the company's chief marketing officer Jonathan Becher announced the new services during a webcast press conference Wednesday
they also unveiled new -as-a-Service purchasing options for unbundled HANA database
a marketplace for SAP and other companies' HANA-powered applications and a new personalized-medicine technology called Genomic Analyzer
the company that has traditionally relied on software license sales is moving toward a very cloud-centric model and HANA is what is going to power its entire cloud software portfolio
“All applications from SAP will be in the cloud,” Becher said
adding that HANA will be the single unifying platform underneath all the applications
A major advantage of SAP's PaaS for enterprise developers is access to the entire collection of application libraries inside HANA
The entire programming model and application services are now inside HANA
application services or in-memory compute infrastructure through the -as-a-Service model
These are available separately or together

European captain Carin Koch sympathized with the distraught Alison Lee but was convinced the rookie American made a mistake in believing her short putt had been conceded at the Solheim Cup on Sunday
Controversy erupted when Lee and Brittany Lincicome lost their fourball match carried over from Saturday night by two holes to Charley Hull and Suzann Pettersen at the St Leon-Rot club in south-west Germany
the 20-year-old rookie believed her 40-centimeter putt had been conceded by the European pair and when she scooped the ball up
the match referee had no choice but to award the hole to Hull and Pettersen
"We all feel bad for Alison," Koch told reporters after her team led 10-6 going into the 12 singles matches
needing four more points to retain the trophy at the women's version of the Ryder Cup
"She made a mistake in the rules of golf..
"We had a rules meeting and we clearly stated that you have to concede a putt very clearly and she didn't go with the rule," added Koch
"Suzann and Charley would not have given them the putt because it went by far enough that they would have made them putt it."
Lee and Hull were both in tears when the match eventually finished on the 18th green
The American youngster later said that she thought the Europeans had conceded her putt
"I thought I heard it was 'good'," Lee explained
"Charley was walking off the green and Suzann was already off the green so there was no doubt in my mind that the putt was 'good.'
Now I know I have to double check and make sure," said Lee
From now on I just double check and look at them straight in the eye so I can confirm it."
Lincicome said US skipper Juli Inkster had used the incident to try to rally her team to come fighting back in the singles matches
"Every time she gives a speech now it's very motivational," added Lincicome

“I have a lot of faith and confidence in Paula,” Inkster said
“She reminds me a lot of myself as far as heart and grit.”
The 2010 US Women's Open winner has played in six Solheim Cups as a pro and is the third-highest Team USA points scorer in history with 16 1/2 points
behind 2017 captain Juli Inkster and Christie Kerr
Creamer's career Solheim Cup record stands at 14 wins
The American has won four of the six matches she's been a part of
and even holed the winning putt for Team USA in 2015
Creamer failed to automatically qualify for the team
She is yet to record a top five finish on Tour this season
with her last win coming back in March 2014
The 31-year-old was relying on a captain's pick but wasn't one of Juli Inkster's two wildcards
Inkster picked LPGA Tour rookie Angel Yin and 25-year-old Austin Ernst
who won her only LPGA Tour title in August 2014
five-time Solheim Cup player Morgan Pressel and six-time Solheim Cup player Angela Stanford missed out on captain's picks
The 2017 Solheim Cup takes place at the Des Moines Country Club in Iowa on 18-20 August
USA defend the cup after winning 14½-13½ in Germany in 2015
Laura Davies believes the controversy which marred the final day of the Solheim Cup contributed to Europe surrendering a four-point lead in Germany.
Pettersen came in for intense criticism after denying she and team-mate Charley Hull had conceded a two-foot putt on the 17th hole of their fourball match on Sunday morning after America’s Alison Lee had picked up her ball
Europe were awarded the hole and went on to win the match two up
but it was the indignant Americans who eventually claimed the trophy by recovering from 10-6 down to win by 14 1/2 points to 13 1/2
who was one of Pettersen’s fiercest critics
“You think you’re right in the heat of battle
it’s just that she’s a bit headstrong and she couldn’t see the bigger picture and how it really hurt the European team
“I heard things from some of the other players and caddies that it was really quiet just before they went out for the singles and normally
but hopefully you regret them a bit quicker
but it’s just not in the spirit of the game or the Solheim Cup
I know the captain (Carin Koch) tried to change her mind but now in the light of day she has realised it really didn’t help anybody – it certainly didn’t help the Europeans
This is obviously going to hurt her for a while but people forget quickly.”
Pettersen initially stood by her actions but released a lengthy statement on Instagram on Monday
“I’ve never felt more gutted and truly sad about what went down Sunday on the 17th at the Solheim Cup,” the 34-year-old Norwegian wrote
“I am so sorry for not thinking about the bigger picture in the heat of the battle and competition
“I was trying my hardest for my team and put the single match and the point that could be earned ahead of sportsmanship and the game of golf itself
I feel like I let my team down and I am sorry
you guys have a great leader in Juli (Inkster)
who I’ve always looked up to and respect so much
“I had a face to face chat with her before leaving Germany to tell her in person
team will forgive me and know that I have learned a valuable lesson about what is truly important in this great game of golf which has given me so much in my life
“To the fans of golf who watched the competition on TV
I can be so much better and being an ambassador for this great game means a lot to me
“The Solheim Cup has been a huge part of my career
I wish I could change Sunday for many reasons
“This week I want to push forward toward another opportunity to earn the Solheim Cup back for Europe in the right way
“And I want to work hard to earn back your belief in me as someone who plays hard
plays fair and plays the great game of golf the right way.”

Ten of the best golf courses in Ireland that too few people know about
Shropshire golf bosses have hailed the form of Wrekin starlet Will Enefer after he finished second in a major international competition on his England Under-18s debut
has claimed the runner-up spot at the German Boys Open at St Leon Rot after a stellar showing over 54 holes
The two-time Shropshire & Herefordshire men's county champion
capped a fine display with a superb five under par final day score of 67
who is also the county's junior boys captain
finished on eight-under par overall and two shots behind champion
Shropshire's junior golf chairman Charles Sievewright has worked with Enefer for several years in the county youth set-up
He said: "It is a fantastic achievement first of all just to be picked to represent England
let alone to come second in an international competition
"He's in great form and he has had some great results so far this year
He has got some big events still to come and
he will get picked for some more England events this summer
"It's obviously down to him and his form but it is a case of so far
Enefer's latest achievement has also been welcomed by his home club
Wrekin secretary Richard Gallier added: "It is a great achievement
"He's had a lot of good form recently and his handicap is coming down
Enefer had been in contention for glory throughout the championship
having opened with a three-under 69 which left him one shot off the lead
Then a level par second round saw him drop to fourth place and five shots back but
He got to within one shot of him before taking his only bogey of the day on the 15th
Enefer also helped his team to second place in the Nations Cup event which also took place over the weekend
England's three-strong team consisted of Enefer
England also entered three girls in the German Open Girls event which was played at the same venue
Surrey finished second in the Nations Cup event
St Patrick’s College student just finished Transition Year
There was great news for one young Cavan sports star this week when 16-year-old Aodhagán Brady was selected to represent Ireland at the European U18 Championships in Germany in two weeks’ time
received the call-up for the prestigious event
which takes place at Golf Club St Leon-Rot in Heidelberg from July 5-10 next
The Cavan golfer will be part of a six-man Irish team who take on the best in Europe and fly out on July 2
Aodhagán is a member of Co Sligo Golf Club and the Slieve Russell Golf Club
He started playing golf at the age of nine with his cousins in Sligo and has retained his handicap at that club
whom he has represented with distinction in club competitions
was previously selected to represent Ireland at U16 level in the 2020/21 season but missed out when their competitions were cancelled due to pandemic restrictions at the time
he didn’t get to play any events because all the events were cancelled due to Covid,” explained father Hugh
“It’s all the sweeter now to get his Irish cap
He was disappointed to have missed out back then.”
Aodhagán’s form has been stellar in recent months as he has taken the leap into adult men’s competition
He has won the Connacht Close Championship in the past and secured a top-20 finish in the Connacht U16 Open last year
he finished in the top 20 in the Irish Amateur
a highly prestigious event which attracts the cream of amateur golf from Ireland
the UK and further afield and was won by Colin Campbell from Warrenpoint
Aodhagán was also in the top 20 in the Connacht Strokeplay in Portumna and performed very well in the famous West of Ireland Championship at Easter and last September
“Right from the beginning he loved the game and he seemed to be able to learn the basics very quickly,” said Hugh
“He had a full handicap when he was about 10 years of age
that was the highest he ever was and he’s down to plus-four now.”
Having been coached early on by his uncle Terry Brady
Aodhagán is now under the tutelage of renowned coach Shane O’Grady from the Black Bush club in Dunshaughlin
who counts Leona Maguire among his protogés
When he was about 12 or 13 he started being coached by Shane O’Grady at the Black Bush club in Dunshaughlin
The call-up to the Irish squad for the European Championships was based on his excellent form of late
“There was an Order of Merit set up for the selection process
“We would have been disappointed had he not been selected but at the same time
you don’t take anything for granted until the team captain rings you up to say you’re selected and of course when he got that call
The American squad will vie to redeem themselves against their European competitors
Fans are hoping for some nail-biting action from this year’s tournament but some controversies from the past left the golf netizens shocked
this one dates back to the 2015 Solheim Cup held at St
It happened on the 17th hole during a fourball match. Alison Lee and Brittany Lincicome of Team USA were matched against Suzann Pettersen and Charley Hull of Team Europe
Lee only needed one putt to win the hole but unfortunately
Hull started walking towards the 18th hole while her partner Pettersen was still out of the surface
believing the remaining 18-inch putt had been conceded
The movement by Charley Hull and the thought about concession overall created confusion in then-rookie Lee’s mind
Then Suzann Pettersen stepped in and revealed that no such concession had been made
a rules official joined the scene for clarification
The point also proved detrimental for Team USA as Europe went to the singles session with a commanding 10-6 lead

Not only golfers, but the golf world was also angry over this incident. They started questioning Pettersen’s sportsmanship. Zach Johnson also shared a post on X saying, “What happened yesterday @solheimcup on the 17th green is a disgrace to the sport.” Meanwhile, Laura Davies also added, “Pettersen will regret this. If the U.S. does go on and win it, there’s only one person to blame.”
Indeed, Team USA pulled off a remarkable comeback, overcoming a 10-6 deficit in the singles session and securing the 14.5 points needed to win the cup. But what about Pettersen? Did she regret her actions? She did.
Initially, Pettersen said that she had no regrets whatsoever about the fourball incident. However, just a day later, she had a change of heart. She clarified that whatever she said earlier about not regretting was all because of the heat of the competition, and now she feels sorry about it.
