A controversial final play led to an open net for Waldemar Anton to save the season BVB’s match-up against Hoffenheim provided the first opportunity in a while to play a pivotal match against a team not jostling for the same table space as Borussia Dortmund there was a sense of confidence stemming from a series of good results against strong opposition but Hoffenheim love to spoil a Black and Yellow party The hosts pushed Dortmund to prove their mettle Dortmund have hopped into Conference League qualification…for now Here are our ratings from Borussia Dortmund’s 3-2 win against Hoffenheim: Not much he could have done for either goal but his poor pass to Couto was the catalyst for the second I’m boosting Anton’s rating for the way he finished his chance with two players to beat and the weight of the season on his shoulders We’ve talked about veteran leadership this season Then he showed up at the other end of the pitch in the 95th minute to score the winning goal but his deflection did bring Hoffenheim level and I thought his spacing and communication with Svensson were lacking for Hoffenheim’s second He’s starting to look like he can be a reliable part of BVB’s defense going forward Picked up two assists and was a constant threat out wide for BVB He’s really growing into this role as a wing-back with questionable cross delivery and uneven defensive showings Can had to step up into midfield to fill in alongside Nmecha but he didn’t look as dependable (nor impactful) as he has in defense this season I’d like to remember him for moments like this This is the Julian Brandt we’ve been calling for so often this season There were some sloppy moments and I thought he started to drift a bit in the second half Hopefully this gives him the confidence to build on his performance in what is left of the season Guirassy gets a penalty from me for missing his penalty I would always rather see BVB clobber the opposition BVB likely would not have ever been in a position to let Hoffenheim tie it up; they would have already been behind For the first time this season Borussia Dortmund are taking their assignment seriously and showing that when they do This was another box to check for BVB on the march to Matchday 34 It wasn’t the strongest performance we’ve seen from this side since Niko Kovač came in The most impressive part was BVB’s refusal to capitulate when Hoffenheim pulled level twice but it really is pleasing to see the fight this team has shown under Kovač but they seem to believe in themselves now They were rewarded for their efforts against Hoffenheim OneFootball's home page Search Settings Sign In Sign InJoinAnton fires BVB to last-second 3-2 victory in Sinsheim | OneFootballBorussia Dortmund The scenario:   Fifteenth versus seventh: Hoffenheim were unbeaten in four home games while Dortmund had lost only one of their previous four Bundesliga away matches and had won each of their last four away games in Sinsheim Personnel matters:  In addition to Schlotterbeck (torn meniscus) and Sabitzer (back in training) Beier and Groß were ruled out by injuries sustained in the Gladbach match Ryerson and Gittens came in for Couto and Adeyemi (both substitutes) Tactics:  BVB stuck with a back three for this match but opted for two strikers (Guirassy and Gittens) and a No Can played alongside Nmecha in central midfield in the 3-4-1-2 formation Hoffenheim – predominantly in a 3-4-1-2 themselves – switched between a back three mostly played long balls up to the attackers closed down the spaces in defence and left little distance between the lines while Borussia tried to build the play in a structured manner.. The match & analysis:...and registered 77%(!) possession in the opening quarter-hour as a result but only posed a threat to the Hoffenheim goal to some extent The most promising opportunity during the opening phase fell to Brandt whose ninth-minute shot from the edge of the box lacked placement and power But he showed his class as a provider shortly afterwards: Brandt played a wonderful chipped ball into the path of Svensson who stormed towards the Hoffenheim goal in the inside left channel and then squared for Guirassy who slotted into the bottom-left corner (20) The flag initially went up but VAR overturned the decision: no offside Following the lengthy VAR check, BVB almost increased their lead to 2-0 Guirassy reacted at lightning speed and the ball ultimately fell to Gittens whose lob at the still empty net missed the target (24) Brandt fed the ball through in the centre-left channel towards Gittens who tried to go past Östigaard in the penalty area but was caught on his foot Referee Brand immediately pointed to the penalty spot Can picked up the ball but then handed it over to Guirassy whose penalty was kept out by Baumann (34) The spurned spot-kick disrupted Dortmund's flow. Hoffenheim grew stronger and restored parity at 1-1 in the 40th minute. But provider Kaderabek was narrowly offside. It was only towards the end of the first period that BVB started to look lively again initially squandering two highly promising counter-attacking opportunities before going close to making it 2-0 But Süle (44) and Gittens (45) were denied by Baumann before Guirassy's bicycle kick went narrowly wide of the mark (45+1) The second half was nine minutes old when the outstanding Brandt who showed immense commitment and enthusiasm set the next major chance in motion with a through-ball from his own half Gittens bore down on goal in the centre-left channel and tried to nutmeg Baumann Stach played the ball into the Dortmund box in a centre-left position Hlozek controlled it well and fired into the top right corner on the turn for 1-1 Kaderabek rose unchallenged to head home a Jurasek was a US Car Meeting and the museum’s parking lot was full of American cars today’s post is going to have a lot more photos I don’t really know what to say about the car meet but almost all the cars I saw were a first time spot for me so I was constantly picking my jaw up from the asphalt Forget everything you ever saw as a kid and thought was a museum basically this museum is beyond everything you ever imagined They have everything you ever wanted to see and I’m not talking just about car related stuff tanks which you can control and other military equipment and accessible planes like the all time greatest Concorde The museum is truly a celebration of human made technology and it’s development I spent an entire day in the museum and I still think I didn’t see everything there was to see Warning: The following is as car related as I can keep it I guess I’ll kick off the museum tour with this it wasn’t really the first thing I saw inside it was the first time I saw one in real life and it is even better than what you see in photos Good thing they’re going into production again this was a tank armor that has been shot at not just in the things that stuck in my mind to be fair And by now you’re like: “Maaan this museum is SLEEEK!” but then you get out of the first building to take a short walk to the second one and squeeze your eyes in the bright and painful sun of August as I did For who doesn't know: The Blue Flame is the rocket-powered vehicle driven by Gary Gabelich… I still dream of the Maserati 250F I saw at Sinsheim The thing is before I visited all these museums I spent a lot of time getting to know about what I was going to see there I remember my brother called me because I was watching the Blue Flame and asked: “Did you see this?” I sat there looking at it from all angles trying to memorise as much as I could from it I think most of you know that I’m a huge Maserati fan by now I had to move on from the 250F and this is what followed And there were also some things like these I wondered if this would fit a Honda I was getting really tired and hungry but there was always something that would draw your attention and keep you going Hitler's 1938 Mercedes W150 770 K Panzerwagen Brutus - powered by a BMW 46.0-liter V12 featured on Top Gear In the end I took the stairs to the top of the second building and what a great finale for the museum was to go on board of the Tupolev TU-144 and Concorde Until next Sunday drive safe people!I’m sorry for posting this very late in my country it’s not even Sunday anymore Subscribe to our NewsletterGet the latest ten league games and yet to taste defeat in the Rückrunde.  A key factor in their success has been goalkeeper Finn Dahmen who extended his remarkable run to 620 minutes without conceding as the match reached the seventh minute Hoffenheim looked determined to break through and came close in the 25th minute as Augsburg aimed to extend their unbeaten streak while Hoffenheim searched for a crucial breakthrough And it did not take long the the visitors to find it as Samuel Assended expertly volleyed home just a matter of seconds into the second half sending the travelling Augsburg contingent into raptures at the PreZero Arena The hosts were gifted a golden opportunity to equalise from the spot in the 71st minute and Andrej Kramaric did exactly that with a perfect dink down the middle to see goalkeeper Dahmen concede for the first time in almost 700 minutes of Bundesliga football both sides looked for a possible winner however Hoffenheim were originally awarded a penalty after Dahmen punched the ball away and made slight contact with Haris Tabakovic.  Dahmen was cleared and the penalty decision was rescinded.  With the match reaching its closing stages the scores remained at 1-1 before the final whistle saw Augsburg extend their unbeaten run to 11 Bundesliga matches Geek's Guide The Register's Geek's Guide series for explorers who love feats of tech and engineering prowess took a trip to the European mainland to see exhibits ranging from an Air France Concorde and a Soviet Tupolev Tu-144 "Concordski" to a Buran prototype Well there are two of them: The Speyer and Sinsheim museums both well worth a visit the next time you're in southwest Germany The two museums can be accessed by driving an hour south from the closest large airport by a gang of vintage enthusiasts keen to show off their vehicles The collection has since grown to include a variety of military hardware the supersonic airliners and the Buran prototype Above and below: Space Shuttle Buran at the Technik Museum Speyer with cargo bay exposed below – Pics: Richard Speed We spent two days at the museums and were guided around the original museum, Sinsheim Baschleben explained how it all got started more than 40 years ago "There were ten private guys who had their own cars and they decided to bring all these cars together One of the enthusiasts had what would become one of Sinsheim's halls It seemed like an excellent place to show the cars and was close to the autobahn 95 percent of the cars on display were drivable although their owners remain responsible for them "They are responsible for taking care of their own cars," he explained While this means that Baschleben can't simply grab a set of keys and go for a joyride it does mean that pretty much every car on show could be drivable after less than an hour of fettling Baschleben told us that the club behind the museum had grown over the four decades to 20 people but connected to it is a supporters club with more than 5,000 members many of whom keep an eye out for potential new exhibits or have skills that the museum can use Baschleben was keen to show off its collection of trains – a challenge to get to the museum since it is close to the autobahn but not a train line although Baschleben quickly pointed out that everything had been deactivated and was regularly inspected by the government to ensure it stayed that way The only place in the world where you can see the Russian and British/French rivals to build the first supersonic passenger plane side by side Pictured left: The Tupolev Tu-144 and a Soviet Tupolev Tu-144 are on display mounted on the museum roof to create an iconic skyline distinguishing Sinsheim and Speyer from many other museums Baschleben explained the decision process behind how much access to give visitors Indicating one of the vehicles in the museum if I would open this door and I would make it so that people can fit inside this car it wouldn't be possible for us to save the interior of the car and then the steering wheel would be gone…" the museum is not averse to opening up some exhibits or introducing interactivity a tank turret can be turned via remote controls it is famously possible to clamber into the Concorde and Tu-144 at Sinsheim The entrance to both is via a door at the rear of the aircraft after a climb up a staircase which makes for an impressive display but also results in a tiring climb through the cabin to the cockpit which is protected on both aircraft by plexiglass Other parts of the aircraft are also protected by plexiglass to preserve what is in situ although it is quite something to peer at the controls of the aircraft having reached their respective cockpits The Tu-144 is owned outright by the museum while the Concorde was leased from Air France for the princely sum of a single Euro The Soviet aircraft arrived first and Air France was so impressed with how the Tu-144 had been configured for display it made one of its retired Concordes available and the obvious question was handling the wind considering how both the Concorde and Tu-144 have been mounted the answer is well-engineered foundations that go through the museum and into the ground he conceded that in another 10 or 20 years the museum might need to reconstruct the supports A model of the first crewed spacecraft on the Moon surface the Lunar Module from Apollo 11 – Pic: Richard Speed The policy of making exhibits accessible without destroying anything irreplaceable is evident here The Buran is housed in its own pavilion alongside other artifacts from the space age including a full-size mock-up of the Apollo Lunar Module If you've paid a visit to London's Science Museum you'll know what to expect from the latter The presence of a Buran prototype – in this instance which was used for atmospheric tests between 1984 and 1989 – is not something you'd find in London's Science Museum and the Sinsheim and Speyer team have taken care to ensure that it is at once accessible Unlike the Space Shuttle on display in the US it is possible to stick your head into the rear of the Buran prototype where the engines would be on a Space Shuttle It is also possible to walk behind the cockpit to peer inside Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet displayed at the Technik museum in Speyer – Pic: Richard Speed We also took a look at the Boeing 747 on display which has undergone alteration to allow visitors to view both the internal and external parts of the aircraft from unexpected angles we took a walk along the wing and slid down the slide from the aircraft's belly a walk along along the 747's wing –Pic: Richard Speed "The thing is with the Boeing 747," explained Baschleben so we could change the Boeing 747 in that way because if we destroy anything "With the Concorde… if we were to destroy it in that way… it wouldn't be good." Baschleben shared the story of the Buran prototype acquisition where the museum had to get the prototype moved as quickly as possible once ownership issues were resolved "There was a very big lawsuit," he explained And it was not really clear: are they allowed to sell it "We pulled it out of Bahrain as fast as we could because we couldn't be 100 percent sure everything was okay And then there is yet more hardware to look at and occasionally clamber around as well as plenty of automatic musical instruments We can't recommend Sinsheim and Speyer enough. A new special exhibition covering the tuning exploits of both manufacturers and enthusiasts of the VW and Opel brands is due to open in November It would seem rude not to plan a return visit We flew from the UK and drove from Frankfurt Airport although Stuttgart Airport is a similar distance away There are also options for users of public transport We went for a two-day pass that got us into both museums since trying to do the two in a single day would be challenging A two-day pass is €52 or €42 for children between 5 and 14 and includes a show at the IMAX theaters on each site although we didn't bother with a viewing since there was more than enough at each museum to look at it There is also a parking charge at both museums Send us news The Register Biting the hand that feeds IT as The easy since Julian Nagelsmann left in 2019 and they have been a mid to low table club since his departure has managed just a 1.00 point average in his 25 matches in charge of the club Hoffenheim aren’t mathematically safe from a spot in the relegation playoffs at the time of writing but a win for Stuttgart on Friday evening could change that Niko Kovac has found some resemblance of consistency to maybe get BVB into Europe next year The team is currently on a fine run—let’s hope it continues on Saturday Andrej Kramaric is once again the top goalscorer and assist maker for Hoffenheim I feel like we highlight this guy every time we face Hoffenheim as superstar Tom Bischof is out through suspension for tomorrow’s game He has been one of the most impressive players in the league this year He has 11 goals and 5 assists for Hoffenheim this season That’s almost a 40 % (!) goal involvement from the Croatian veteran—definitely something to look out for It seems like Niko Kovac has found a core of players that he trusts at this point and the lineup hasn’t changed much in the last couple of weeks the biggest loss is the absence of Maxi Beier there are enough bodies to fill in for the German for the time being Pascal Groß is a question mark for the game so I assume he won’t start tomorrow’s game and that Svensson and Ryerson will form a reliable Hoffenheim has had a hard time finding the the largest on Earth if you include the collection at its sister museum in Speyer The former hosts a cluttered sprawl of planes losing ourselves in an Air France Concorde and a hall of army Despite generating an impressive 2.26 xG compared to Leverkusen’s 1.4 they only became a real attacking threat after the reigning champions were reduced to 10 men in the 61st minute by which time In the Europa League The Hoffenheim away section is located in the northeast corner of the ground with visiting supporters taking up blocks G1-G2 and H1-H2 This includes a mixture of seated and standing tickets the views inside the stadium from all four sides of the ground are impressive A notable aspect of Hoffenheim’s home stadium is the elevated stands providing supporters with an excellent view of the action In the north-east section of the PreZero Arena just over 9% of the allocation has restricted views It can be hard to see the action at the south-west corner of the ground from the away end but it is also the perfect location to celebrate if the visiting team scores a goal at the northern end Sinsheim is a small town with a population of just over 36,000 there are not too many pre-match bar and restaurant options in and around the PreZero Arena Spurs have been given an allocation of 2,866 for this Europa League match The breakdown of the allocation is as follows: FootballGroundGuide » Latest Football Stadium and Fan News » Hoffenheim away section: Guide for Spurs fans at PreZero Arena By 2024-08-01T09:00:00+01:00 working with the Speyer and Sinsheim technology museums transported a 330-tonne submarine from Speyer to Sinsheim the submarine will be made accessible to the public in the Sinsheim Technology Museum and preserved for posterity The total weight of the transport amounted to 529 tonnes and a length of 74.5 m The journey began on the road to the natural harbour of Speyer continued by pontoon on the Rhine and Neckar to Haßmersheim and finally led back by road to the destination Sinsheim the final road section of 48 km was particularly challenging and took two weeks due to bridges and narrow villages the submarine could not be transported upright in every location The solution was a special turning device that made it possible to tilt the submarine by 73 degrees and turn it back to a vertical position for narrow places. This meant narrow places could be navigated The submarine was turned 14 times on the route Last year, Kübler transported the submarine from Kiel to Speyer to be displayed outside Technik Museum Speyer Kübler Spedition has transported two 445-tonne transformers destined for the BorWin5 offshore grid connection system in Germany Germany-based heavy transport specialist Kübler Spedition has designed the STB 320 high girder bridge which boasts a significantly lower deadweight than comparable systems on the market South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries has purchased five ShipyardTransporters from TII Scheuerle German heavy lift specialist Spedition Kübler was on hand to transport the first two vehicles from the plant in Pfedelbach to the Heilbronn inland port facility.   Shipyard and construction company Ravestein is delivering a ro-ro pontoon for Peel Ports Group in the UK Mexico’s Tradelossa recently completed a complex heavy haul operation for an important energy sector development in the north of the country Jan De Nul started the monopile foundation installation campaign for RWE’s Thor offshore wind farm Heavy lift vessel Les Alizés has installed the first of 72 monopiles for Denmark’s largest wind farm to date Site powered by Webvision Cloud Even the professionals at Kübler Schwertransporte don't have a transport job like this every day They are currently moving around 500 tonnes (approx 150 tonnes of low-loader) through the Kraichgau region in northern Baden-Württemberg decommissioned by the German Navy in 2010 and now on its way to the Sinsheim Museum of Technology The almost 50 metre long steel colossus is enthroned on a platform trailer with 30 axles Kübler Schwertransporte is a long-standing MAN customer ‘We rely on MAN because the reliability of the vehicles has convinced us,’ says Niclas Grimm ‘We had a MAN TGX 41.680 converted into an 8x6 for special transports like this one.’   first from the Technikmuseum Speyer to the Rhine U17 was loaded onto a river pontoon to be transported first via the Rhine to Mannheim and then via the Neckar to Haßmersheim until 9 July it will now travel by road to its destination in Sinsheim Kübler is responsible for the entire route.  its dimensions also make transporting it an adventure Both on the water and during the journey on the road it has to be repeatedly turned by 73 degrees - otherwise the truck with its bulky cargo would not be able to cross railway crossings or pass under various bridges This is made possible by a turning device that was specially made for U17's last journey Such customised solutions are nothing new for Kübler: the company from Michelfeld-Erlin is active worldwide as a logistics service provider in the heavy goods sector and is therefore very familiar with challenges of all kinds In addition to powerful low-loaders and powerful trucks one thing in particular is indispensable for such orders: lorry drivers with a lot of professional experience and a particularly good ability to concentrate.  He is at the wheel of the MAN TGX 41.680 8x6 and is chauffeuring U17 towards Sinsheim ‘I've been driving heavy goods vehicles for many years,’ he says It also makes me proud to be able to drive such large transports.’ Preparations start long before the freight sets off for the first time: Possible routes are explored arrangements are made with the authorities and police A total of 2-3 people were involved at Kübler - including driver Saam from the very beginning.  The entire transport is a delicate endeavour The team manoeuvres the 90 metre long and 10 metre high heavy transport not only under deep bridges but also through the narrowest streets of the picturesque Kraichgau region One of the trickiest moments is turning the boat several times on the pontoon the crew not only has to keep the boat balanced A particular challenge is sailing off the pontoon in Haßmersheim when U17 goes ashore the pontoon has to be constantly rebalanced to compensate for the changing load.  “We can only master a transport like this as a team,’ says Niclas Grimm ‘As we have been in business for many years our employees have been able to gain experience with all kinds of challenges all over the world we are now benefiting from this - and we are also extremely proud that the Sinsheim Museum of Technology has entrusted us with this complex project.” SearchMega MenuHomepageNewsMen's TeamNewsThe Bundesliga’s 14th Play 15th Union Away in SinsheimOn Saturday FC Union Berlin’s men’s first team will face TSG 1899 Hoffenheim away from home in the Bundesliga A glance at the table underlines the importance of this game with TSG within striking distance of Union Hoffenheim are coming off the back of a 3-1 loss at the reigning champions Union had a challenging task ahead of them as they met RasenBallsport Leipzig at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei their strong and focused performance earned an important point with a goalless draw TSG Hoffenheim are currently 15th in the table with 18 points Their disappointing first half of the season ultimately led to a change of coach and Christian Ilzer has been on the sidelines tasked with leading the Kraichgauer back to safer shores The Austrian made his debut with a 4-3 win over Leipzig and there seems to be a slight upward trend under his leadership After a convincing 3-1 away win at newly promoted Holstein Kiel a respectable 2-2 draw against third-placed Eintracht Frankfurt followed Hoffenheim also showed a combative face on the European stage recently TSG defeated the Belgian club RSC Anderlecht 4-3 even if this success was not enough to advance any further in the competition The victory in Belgium is still a creditable achievement as TSG had to make do without no fewer than 18 (!) professional players The injury problems were so severe that before the game Ilzer admitted that he had never experienced a personnel situation like this in his entire career some of these absentees are likely to return to the squad in time for the clash with Union Union's coaching team still have to do without Kevin Vogt Oluwaseun Ogbemudia and Aljoscha Kemlein on Saturday afternoon The weekend's clash could almost feel like a class reunion for many of the players from both teams Four Union players have a past in Kraichgau Kevin Volland wore the TSG shirt 144 times between 2012 and 2016 while Janik Haberer played for the second team in the Regionalliga Südwest during the 2014/15 season Kevin Vogt only moved from Hoffenheim to Köpenick last winter– he played for TSG in an impressive 226 games Summer signing Robert Skov also spent five years at Hoffenheim There are also some familiar faces on the other side who has been in Hoffenheim since the summer of 2022 scoring 20 goals in 141 competitive games and celebrating promotion to the Bundesliga with Union in 2019 He will not be able to play on Saturday due to injury Christopher Lenz will also miss the game due to injury The left-back made 72 appearances for Union between 2016 and 2021 promotion hero and crowd favourite Jakob Busk has also found his way to Hoffenheim although he has only been part of the TSG squad for a few days The goalkeeper was still between the posts for the Danish first division side Sönderjyske during the first half of the season before signing for Hoffenheim at the end of the transfer period “Hoffenheim are a team that have more quality in their play than their current league position would suggest,” said Union’s head coach during his press conference on Thursday afternoon we want to take the momentum from our last home game with us and be prepared to quickly shrug off any setbacks and get straight back into the game playing to our strengths and giving our all in every tackle.’ We have a lot of direct duels in February and March From Steffen Baumgart we know that we will get an energetic opponent You can already clearly see what kind of play you can expect,’ Hoffenheim coach Christian Ilzer said at the press conference For the away game in the Rhine-Neckar region, the Union players can count on the support of 1,800 fans in the away section. The 29-year-old Kimmich also took issue with the timing of the poll as Germany is set to host the 2024 European Football Championship later this month: "When you consider that we are about to host a European Championship at home it's absurd to ask such a question when the aim is actually to unite the whole country It's about achieving great things together we're trying to get everyone in Germany behind us." This year marks the first time Germany has served as the solo host country for the Euros since 1988 when the tournament was held in West Germany Germany's three Euro titles are tied with Spain for the most in the history of the tourney but they have not won it since 1996 despite their longstanding status as one of the top powers in European soccer Germany's last major title was the World Cup in 2014 when defender Jerome Boateng played a pivotal role in a 1-0 win over Argentina as he dominated defensively and helped shut down Argentina's high-powered attack Antonio Rüdiger and Leroy Sané are two Black players on Germany's Euro 2024 squad who figure to have a significant hand in the team's success as well Germany will begin play at Euro 2024 on June 14 when it faces Scotland in group action From the waves to the meadow: U17's last journey is over land the maritime old-timer reaches its destination From the vastness of the seas to the halls of technological history: the former naval submarine U17 has reached its new home port after an adventurous journey across water and land Many onlookers welcomed the 350-ton steel colossus with applause and music at the Technik Museum Sinsheim (Baden-Württemberg) visitors will have the opportunity to inspect the submarine from all sides - without getting wet The impressive exhibit has been on the road for a good year since its launch in Kiel sometimes firmly lashed down on a massive floating pontoon then piggybacked on a low-loader with 30 axles Now the journey of the "Ü-Boat" as one spectator jokingly called the monumental piece of cargo "We have brought a fascinating exhibit to us in a large team in a spectacular transport," said project manager Michael Einkörn former submariners will also be on hand to give expert tours The transfer of the almost 50-metre-long vessel was a logistical tour de force as the maritime old-timer could not simply be transported by rail or truck highways closed and traffic lights and signs dismantled so that the convoy could arrive safely Einkörn spoke of "incredible precision" - not only during transportation "One day the message came: We have a route that can work under certain conditions The fact that everything would work out like this was unbelievable for us as a museum that doesn't deal with heavy transport on a daily basis." One of the most spectacular moments was the journey under the Old Bridge in Heidelberg The submarine was maneuvered through the arches on the Neckar with millimetre precision U17 had to be tilted by more than 70 degrees on the floating pontoon The narrow passages through the town were also difficult "It all came down to a few centimeters," said Einkörn The trickiest moment was a makeshift bridge "There was a point where four axles were in the air and had no contact with the ground." the iconic vehicle is now being prepared for the public "The submarine adds a marine history perspective to the exhibition at the Technik Museum and offers visitors the rare opportunity to experience such a means of transportation up close," explained museum director Andreas Hemmer Visitors will be able to learn more about life on board the submarine's missions and its technology They will also gain an insight into the cramped conditions of the crew and the challenges of underwater service The vessel was based in Eckernförde with a crew of 23 it was loaned to the Technik Museen Sinsheim Speyer after discussions with the Federal Ministry of Defense and the Bundeswehr a gantry crane hoisted the vessel onto a floating pontoon in Kiel and since then it has been gradually approaching its destination Thousands stood on the banks of the Rhine in Baden-Württemberg Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia and followed the transportation of the unusual exhibit to its final destination in Speyer (Palatinate) batteries weighing several tons were removed there The steel giant then set off on its final journey to Kraichgau at the end of June Bad Rappenau or at night along the closed A6 the entire project costs around two million euros and is mainly financed by donations Only one 2023 the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment Information Technology and In-Service Support and the automobile and engineering museum association Auto-Technik-Museum e concluded a loan contract to exhibit the former submarine U17 In addition to the extensive demilitarisation it was required to process a long list of hazardous substances that had to be removed before the submarine was clear to start its journey over the North Sea and the Rhine river to Speyer and then to Sinsheim Due to the great demand for high-quality steel parts the majority of 206 and later 206A class submarines were sold for disposal The Type 206 submarine class was partly upgraded to Type 206A and formed part of the German Navy between 1973 and 2010 The former U17 submarine also belonged to the original 206 class and was upgraded to the 206A class standard from September 1989 to May 1991 U16 and U18 were sold for disposal via the VEBEGVerwertungsgesellschaft für besatzungseigene Güter GmbHGesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung company A smaller number of submarines of this class was sold to other nations for further use The submarines U23 and U24 were taken over by the Colombian armed forces where they help contain oil spills and fight cocaine smuggling The trust company VEBEGVerwertungsgesellschaft für besatzungseigene Güter GmbHGesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung was founded in 1951 as a federally owned company to exploit federal property and property of other public agencies only one submarine of this class will be on display soon In terms of military historical exhibitions, the Wehrtechnische Studiensammlung (WTSWehrtechnische Studiensammlung) which is the collection of military equipment of the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment Information Technology and In-Service Support maintains a long-standing cooperation with the Technik Museum The Speyer site of the Technik Museum has already been given the 205 class submarine ex-U9 as a loan the museum showed interest to also expand its Sinsheim exhibition by a submarine After then Minister of Defence Ursula von der Leyen had given her approval extensive planning for the loan started at the WTSWehrtechnische Studiensammlung until finally ex-U17 was identified as a suitable exhibit This 206A class submarine was best preserved and therefore eligible for lending it to the Technik Museum it still involves some costs for the museum which must fulfill some prerequisites before the "precious piece" can take its new place has to pay for the insurance and certain work such as demilitarisation and transport once the submarine has been handed over physically Loan contracts have a long history that begins in the period of Roman law the loan or loan item was handed over free of charge A loan contract between a lender and a borrower regulates the lending of a loan item for a limited period of time It also contains a description of the loan item It is not possible to borrow or lend rights The contract also specifies the return of the loan item and the liability Ex-U17 was commissioned into the Navy on 28 November 1973 and was mainly employed in the North and Baltic Sea areas until it was taken out of service on 14 October 2010 a width of 4.58 metres and a draught of 4.30 metres weighs approximately 500 tons (before demilitarisation) With the two twelve-cylinder engines of 440 kilowatts or 600 horsepower each and an electric motor of 1,100 kilowatts or 1,500 horsepower the surfaced ex-U17 reached a speed of up to ten knots there was quite a lot to be done: Due to the classification as war weapon a so-called "certificate of demilitarisation" was needed to prove the required demilitarisation Since the submarine is classified as a weapon of war it is mandatory to demilitarise it before lending or exhibiting it Certain military components are technically modified in such way that they can no longer be used for their intended purpose and the modification not be reversed by means of "commonly used" tools In order to make it impossible to use ex-U17 for its original purpose some work had already been carried out before the loan contract was concluded: Among other things the weapon systems had been removed or rendered unusable and the ballast tanks had been perforated with holes so that they could no longer be used as intended ballast tanks are either filled with air or water depending on the type of ballast tank and whether the submarine is surfacing or diving the hull is fitted with two frames: These contribute to the boat’s stability and affect its speed Because of the work carried out on the submarine In addition to being classified as a weapon of war the submarine is also classified as a hazardous good and as such requires special transport permits which must also be provided prior to collection several of its systems use substances classified as hazardous goods special measures are to be taken before a transport and every transport requires special permission This is because cargo classified as hazardous goods must not be transported without certain precautions a simple marking on the outside of the transport packaging is sufficient it was specified in the loan contract which of the required work had to be completed ahead of the handover A submarine has integrated rescue systems for emergencies: From these systems a substance called "hydrazine" was removed even when other systems have already failed Another substance classified as a hazardous good was contained in the fire extinguishing system of ex-U17 The refrigerant in the air conditioning system was also removed the bilge and all other tanks were emptied The bilge is the lowest area in the ship hull and collects e.g condensation water from the air conditioning system Once the submarine has arrived at its destination it can be accessed and explored by interested visitors is no longer possible due to the classification as a weapon of war and the work carried out on the submarine It is also contractually excluded by the loan contract Decide for yourself which data is recorded and customise your settings here You can find detailed information the Department that conserves and promotes the history of the FCA Group's Italian brands - and from the Museo Storico Alfa Romeo: not only legendary racing cars like the Alfa Romeo SE048SP or the Alfa Romeo 1900 C52 nicknamed the "Disco Volante" ("Flying Saucer") but also magnificent examples of the finest Italian design such as the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Super Sport with bodywork by Touring They are accompanied by technical items such as a Formula 1 engine or the innovative Q4 all-wheel drive system adopted on the Alfa Romeo 156.  Naturally the whole exhibition hall tells the story of Alfa Romeo and illustrates its design including the evolution of the logo over the brand's first 109 years of history.  There could be no better location for this amazing retrospective than the Technik Museum at Sinsheim: sited not far from Mannheim and opened in 1981 the museum is home to one of Europe's largest collections of cars and attracts more than a million visitors every year Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Super Sport (1947)Born in 1939 together with the other versions of the 6C 2500 like its sisters the top-of-the-range Super Sport was to have its career suddenly interrupted by the outbreak of the Second World War and to enjoy a second burst of fame in the immediate postwar years.Until 1946 the Super Sport was only sold as a chassis although there were "standard" versions produced by a few coachbuilders historically close to Alfa Romeo when operations were restarted after the War an official bodywork version designed and built by Touring appeared in the official price list Although links to the late Thirties versions were still clear and as the Fifties dawned the car's look had been completely transformed was extremely high and unchanging throughout with state-of-the-art workmanship and materials. The car's 2,500 cubic centimetre six cylinder engine turned out 105 HP (81 kW) with the aid of three carburettors Alfa Romeo 1900 C52 "Disco Volante" (1952)In 1952 Alfa Romeo considered various options for its future involvement in racing and the design technicians investigated the potential of the Alfa Romeo 1900 with a view to using it as the basis for a racing car to compete in the Sport category also in response to urging from Max Hoffman who was asking Alfa Romeo to come up with a barchetta suitable for racing in the US giving it an aluminium block and boosting its displacement to two litres This increased the power to 116 kW (158 HP) while the bodywork was built by Carrozzeria Touring in aluminium with Superlight structure were three two-seater spiders with a curb weight of just 824 kilograms Its futuristic style earned the model the nickname of "Disco volante" or "Flying Saucer".The car on display is the only one of the chassis with coupé bodywork Alfa Romeo SE048 SP (1989) and V1035 engine (1990)In 1989 Alfa Romeo prepared for its debt in the World Sportscar Championship with assistance from Abarth which developed a prototype on the basis of the Group C regulations The chassis was in carbon fibre and the bodywork in a composite of carbon fibre and Kevlar including a naturally aspirated V10 with displacement of 3.5 litres (code V1035) which Alfa Romeo had originally developed in 1986 for the Ligier Formula 1 team The car was christened the SE048 SP - using Abarth's normal code name system - but was never used in racing since Alfa Romeo had cancelled its involvement in the World Sportscar Championship partly due to lack of interest on the part of the FIA the chassis was equipped with a V12 engine provided by Ferrari Alfa Romeo 156 Crosswagon Q4 traction system (2004)In 2004 Alfa Romeo assigned the badge "Q4" to its permanent all-wheel drive system featuring variable power distribution via a Torsen central differential The Q4 traction system was used in the Alfa Romeo 156 Crosswagon a variant of the Sportwagon with an extra 6.5 centimetres of ground clearance during normal operation the Q4 traction system delivered more power to the rear axle: during acceleration up to 80% of torque was transferred to the rear wheels One advantage of the Q4 system was its compatibility with electronic safety systems including anti-slip regulation (ASR) and stability control (which the Alfa Romeo brand called VDC).The "cross-section" model exhibited in Germany driven by electric motors and with lights explaining how the mechanics work Wind-tunnel model of Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI (1992)With the Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI the Italian brand successfully competed in the German Tourism Championship (DTM) and the subsequent ITC championship series of races in the Nineties when Alfa Romeo won the DTM championship against strong German competition and driver Nicola Larini won the drivers' title The Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI has a naturally aspirated V6 petrol engine with displacement of 2.5 litres which in 1993 produced about 309 kW (420 HP) The model on display -
