L-R: Book Club Co-Owners Kristee Proctor and Payten Crawford smile in front of a book shelf which opens up to their speakeasy bistro
a seemingly ordinary bookshelf holds a secret
and you’ll step into a hidden world of dim lighting
craft cocktails and a kitchen serving up bold
It's an immersive experience that the owners hope lingers long after the last sip
"It's all about the experience,” said Book Club Bistro Co-owner and General Manager Payten Crawford
it comes out on a gold tray with a perfume bottle filled with olive brine
Our Old Fashioned is served inside a hollow book
You open it to find a flask with the mix and pour it into your glass.”
Co-owner Kristee Proctor wanted the hidden space to embrace a true speakeasy vibe
it was designed to feel like an exclusive secret waiting to be discovered
Striking the balance between keeping it hidden and inviting guests in was a challenge
but that mystery is all part of the experience
The owners agree that one of their favorite moments is watching guests push open the bookcase and step into the hidden bistro
They equally love seeing the delight on customers' faces when their food and drinks arrive
Even the chicken kabob adds a touch of surprise
served hanging over a bed of orzo for a presentation that's as fun as it is flavorful
“Everything is just plated so beautifully,” Crawford said
“People see it and they’re not expecting it.”
it all came from items Proctor makes at home
Growing up in Utah and moving back east to Maryland
her crabcake is inspired by her time there
Living in other places outside of Utah has inspired her to bring those classics back to Southern Utah where they can’t be found anywhere else
we just wanted things you can’t find in St
“It’s a big variety on a little menu,” Crawford added
The menu is packed with bold flavors and a few playful twists
plus a “bougie” chicken salad sandwich on a croissant
The brisket gets the spotlight in both a French dip and a loaded potato
while the De-Maison Salad is straight from Proctor’s own kitchen
Dessert keeps things exciting with an affogato that takes a grown-up turn
featuring caramel that transforms it into a boozy sweet treat
the mastermind behind the craft cocktails and mocktails
brings serious bartending chops to the menu
With her own side business in wedding and event bartending
she’s had plenty of practice mixing drinks on the fly
She took some of her crowd-favorite creations and gave them a glow-up with elegant glassware and eye-catching garnishes
with new sips constantly making their debut
“The cocktails are an experience in themselves,” Proctor said
but the presentation is really what it’s about
And that’s really what we’re trying to do with everything
Come experience really beautiful fresh food and beautiful cocktails.”
The bar is stocked with plenty of local favorites
including craft beer from Silver Reef Brewing Company
wine from Zion Vineyards and top picks from Salt Lake’s liquor scene
One of their latest drink creations features fermented hot honey infused with rosemary and jalapeños
Even the traditional espresso martini gets a unique twist
served as a rich and creamy coconut espresso martini
the full mocktail menu has something for everyone
creamy orange sip topped with a soft froth and finished with a dried orange slice
Crawford wants the community to know that good things take time
and that’s exactly what makes their food and cocktails special
Everything is made to order in their craft kitchen and nothing is reheated in bulk
Dishes may not always arrive at the same time
and cocktails take a little longer since they make their own simple syrups
“Everything has its own special touch,” Crawford said
“Everything is more than what you get somewhere else
Book Club Bistro’s soft opening spanned a few weeks
leading up to an exclusive grand opening on Feb
The reservation-only event featured a special performance by Grammy-winning songwriter Levi Lowrey
known for his work with the Zac Brown Band
It all started when Proctor pitched the idea of a pop-up shop for her fashion line at Social District
a boutique clothing shop featuring a wine bistro hidden in the back
But when she learned the chef had left and the kitchen had gone dark
she went on the hunt for someone who might want to rent the space for holiday baking
she was about to cook up something much bigger
I wonder if I could do something there,” she said
“My husband has always been like when you have a restaurant
who was busy running a restaurant and bar in Cedar City and pitched an idea
She asked her to check out the space and let her know what it would take to turn it into a full-blown restaurant
‘When I quit my job next week and work here
I’d change this and this and this,” Proctor said
Crawford has spent years in the restaurant industry
always working in customer service and bartending before moving up to General Manager
helping relaunch the bar from the ground up
she ended her time there with a grand finale
Transitioning from managing a lively sports bar to running an intimate
reservation-based bistro has been a whole new experience for Crawford
service flow and guest expectations has presented new challenges
“Once they come through that bookcase they’re in a different place,” Crawford said
They can just relax and sit back and enjoy the experience
drink good drinks and have a social environment where they can just escape everyday life.”
Book Club Bistro is located at the Shoppes at Zion tucked inside the Social District Boutique and Bistro at 250 Red Cliffs Drive in St. George. To stay in the loop on the latest menu creations and specials, follow them on Instagram and Facebook

Step onto a haunted path where history and mystery intertwine
and every corner holds a story that will send a chill down your spine
“Bring an open mind because you’re going to hear some stories that you haven’t heard before,” St
George Ghost Tours Owner Grady Hartman said
“And bring a flashlight because we do go down some really dark streets and alleyways.”
George Ghost Tours invites you on a spooky 90-minute stroll through downtown St
where you’ll uncover eerie stories while soaking in the haunted sights
with plenty of stops at old businesses and historic buildings
perfect for snapping photos and catching your breath between spine-tingling tales
Friday or Saturday for a ghostly good time
George Ghost Tours are ones they've unearthed through plenty of digging and research
It’s wild to think about how much superstition and folklore from the pioneer days have slipped through the cracks of history
they’re ready to bring these spooky stories back to life and can’t wait to share the eerie treasures they’ve discovered
“We’ve dug deep into the Washington County historic site and uncovered some truly fascinating stories from the downtown area
One of the spookiest stories involves the Mulberry Inn
and the "Becky Room" is home to a crying doll
Even though the place has passed every inspection
Hartman says it’s one of his favorite spots because dolls are downright terrifying to most people
“I love anything that brings people to the Historic District to showcase these beautiful homes,” Mulberry Inn Owner Peggy Armour said
“I hope ghost tour visitors are motivated to learn more of this exciting history.”
Although the tour doesn’t include going inside the buildings
the company has created a webpage where guests can check out what they're hearing about
like the creepy doll mentioned at the Mulberry Inn
George Ghost Tour also explores chilling tales of skinwalkers and Native American folklore
stories that Hartman says get under people’s skin due to their unsettling realism
The stories lead through the courthouse and the old Silver Reef Saloon
a historic gem relocated from Silver Reef to downtown St
each location holding its own collection of spooky secrets
The haunted spots are scattered throughout downtown
which is another eerie location featured on the tour
George Ghost Tours officially open to the public on Friday
the company has hosted family and friends tours
One highlight has been a ghost named Canyon Carl decked out in a cowboy hat making his rounds through downtown
The company doesn’t have a brick-and-mortar shop
so participants meet up at Ancestor Square
next to the old jailhouse known as Bee Sweet Ice Cream
“If you’re asking if it’s too scary for your kids
you probably shouldn’t bring them,” Hartman said
“There are some pretty traumatic stories on the tour.”
Tours are still designed with families in mind
but Hartman suggests it's best enjoyed by those aged 10 and up
it provides a unique and enjoyable way to spend an evening out
how does one step into the eerie world of ghost tours
“You have to really enjoy the spooky side of things,” he said
When they started brainstorming business ideas
George’s rich history was missing a key piece — historic tours
they began digging into the area’s ghostly past
uncovering eerie stories just waiting to be shared
“You just hear ‘This is historic downtown,” he said
I want to hear the cool stuff — the folklore
the legends — and that’s what we’re doing.”
Hartman mentioned they've uncovered some fascinating tidbits
like tunnels beneath Bear Paw Cafe that supposedly lead to other spots around town
the more incredible stories and details come to light
They’re excited to see their tours evolve as they uncover even more captivating stories
Utah (KUTV) — A “bait and switch” social media scam has resurfaced in St
starting with a social media post that is designed to garner a lot of likes and shares
George noticed posts like this appearing on Facebook in early September
George Area Facebook Yard Sale Group included photos of a young child with apparent bruises on his face

Deputy Ryan Braidley saved him and took him to the Police Station but no one has an idea where he lives
the neighbours don’t know him or how he got there

George Police Department confirmed via text message that there is no "Deputy Ryan Braidley."
After searching for Ryan Braidley on Facebook
dozens of identical posts across the country in various local yard sale groups appear
The photos and text are identical amongst the posts — the only varying detail is the location they are targeting
it is edited into an advertisement for a rental home
The new post includes a link to a website imitating the US Department of Housing in Urban Development
Melani Fox of the Better Business Bureau said that the next step of the scam is usually a prompt to gather personal or financial information

the City Council hears public input during a meeting in St
A 2023 federal lawsuit between the city of St
George and drag show performers represented by the American Civil Liberties Union came to an official end Friday with the city issuing an apology for the actions that triggered the litigation two years ago
The ACLU issued a statement lauding the decision in the case featuring Mitski Avalox and Southern Utah Drag Stars
George City Council’s denial of a special events permit for a drag show set to be held in a public park that was originally issued in Match 2023
The permit was later denied due to violation of advertising rules for events
Avalox later appealed the denial before the council in April and was turned down
St. George News reported in early-January that a settlement was reached between the two parties
“The courage of Drag Stars and Mitski Avalōx to bring this case affirmed what has always been true: all Utahns are entitled to the fundamental protections of the First Amendment,” said Thomas Ford
but for all people who care about limiting the government’s ability to impose subjective views of what they deem appropriate on all of us.”
George issued the following statement Friday afternoon:
LLC ("SUDS") submitted an application to hold a special event in St
George City admits the permit denial violated SUDS' First Amendment rights and publicly apologizes for violating SUDS' First Amendment rights
George City regrets violating SUDS' constitutionally protected right to free speech
and it has worked with SUDS to favorably resolve the violation of SUDS' rights
George City welcomes all citizens to hold special events in the future and respects the First Amendment rights of all community members."
Avolox said in a statement via the ALCU that the victory wasn’t hers alone
but that “it’s a win for every queer person who’s been told to stay invisible.”
affirming that the First Amendment protects us all
George tried to censor us but the Constitution was on our side.”
Permit revocation and the ban on new events
Avalox's permit for a family-friendly drag show was initially approved
then later revoked due to event advertising before the permit was finalized
also had an event permit denied for the same reason
Klabanoff pointed out inconsistencies in city enforcement
as other events violating the same ordinance were allowed to proceed
justified the selective application of the rule
stating exceptions were made for city-sponsored or recurring events familiar to city staff
while new events remained strictly subject to the no-advertising before a permit rule
Complicating the matter further, St. George implemented a six-month moratorium for approving new events on city property
to evaluate the impact of events on the community and improve the permitting process
While city officials framed the ban as a neutral measure
Avalox contended it was being used to block future drag show events as part of a broader
discriminatory effort to exclude those who identify as LGBTQ+ from public spaces
She argued this violated her civil rights and alleged the ordinance unfairly targeted drag performances under the guise of regulatory enforcement
The lawsuit claimed that the city’s denial of the event permit was a way to hide discriminatory intent against the LGBTQ+ community
It also alleged the city was selectively enforcing the moratorium on new events in favor certain gatherings
The City Council’s actions were described as sending a message that LGBTQ+ individuals were unwelcome in public spaces and aimed to suppress their artistic expression for political advantage
Southern Utah Drag Stars had initially arranged a private venue for the drag show
but the event was ultimately canceled after the business owner received threats against their employees' safety
Avalox and the ACLU asked the court to rule that the city had violated constitutional rights to freedom of speech and equal protection by revoking the permit
They also asked the judge to prevent the city from enforcing its event ban against Southern Utah Drag Stars and requested approval for a future event permit
a number of protesters and a small army of uniformed St
The following September, St. George officials lifted the ban on approving new events and adopted a revised special events permitting process
This included the removal of the advertising rule that resulted in the original denial of Avalox’s permit
With the drag show come and gone and the city’s questionable ordinance revised, the city of St. George filed a motion in January 2024 for the court to dismiss the lawsuit

This black GMC SUV was involved in a 2-car collision on Red Hills Parkway on Saturday evening, St. George, Utah, Feb. 1, 2025.
Two separate incidents that occurred within an hour of each other had emergency responders hopping and Saturday evening rush hour traffic backed up in St. George.
The first occurred around 5:20 p.m. and involved two SUV’s that collided in the intersection of Red Hills Parkway and Resort Lane.
St. George Police officer Matt Noyes told St. George News that a silver SUV was on Resort Lane making a left-hand turn onto northbound Red Hills Parkway.
At the same time, Noyes said, a black GMC SUV was traveling southbound on Red Hills Parkway. The silver SUV proceeded to turn and was struck by the oncoming black SUV, Noyes said.
Noyes said that the silver vehicle spun wildly after the collision. The vehicle crossed both lanes of northbound Red Hills Parkway, he added, hopping the concrete barrier at the side of the road and then crashing through the fence next to I-15 before sliding to a stop sideways and uphill.
Meanwhile the black GMC SUV rolled to a stop in the middle of Red Hills Parkway after the collision, Noyes said.
A Gold Cross Ambulance and several St. George Police Department cruisers were on the scene. Noyes said there were only minor injuries to the drivers and passengers involved and that no one was taken to the hospital.
Traffic in both directions of Red Hills Parkway was reduced to one lane while the scene was cleared. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Noyes said investigating officers were still determining whether citations would be issued.
About 40 minutes later around 6 p.m., southbound traffic on I-15 was clogged by a second incident that occurred on the highway between the Dixie Drive and Brigham Road exits.
In a text to St. George News, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Mike Alexander said that two vehicles were involved.
"One was reckless and struck the right side of another vehicle," Alexander wrote, "which pushed it into the median barrier. No injures from what I heard."
Alexander added that no citations have been issued yet.
"No, the reckless vehicle fled and investigation is ongoing," he wrote.
Both of these reports are based on statements by law enforcement personnel and may not include the full scope of the findings.

Church of England reveals it will be moved this year because of an unusual traditionMost of us will have the heard the tale of George and the dragon
but do you know the real history behind the legend
Here is our guide to the patron saint of England

Here is our guide to patron saint of England
including facts about the legends and ideas to celebrate St George's Day
St George's Day usually takes place on the 23rd April each year – but this year, the Church of England has announced that it will take place on Monday 28 April. This is because no saint's day can take place in the week before or after Easter
St George's Day marks the death of the Patron Saint of England
who is thought to have died in around AD 303 when he was tortured and executed in Palestine
Legend has it that St George slew an evil dragon that was plaguing a local town and saved a princess
It is traditionally a Christian celebration as the story goes that St George offered to kill the dragon only if the town converted to Christianity
Historical evidence however points to the 'real' St George
living in Palestine in the third century who followed in his father's footsteps to became a soldier in the Roman army
and was executed for his Christian beliefs
St George is also patron saint of Georgia and the Russian city of Moscow
St George’s Day became a national holiday in England in the early 15th century
remaining until the tradition dwindled after the union with Scotland in the late 18th century
Since then, the day has become a rather low-key affair, unlike the Irish celebration of St Patrick’s Day or Scottish observance of St Andrew’s Day. However, here are five quirky ideas to help you celebrate, courtesy of Visit England

A myth which began in the 1970s, the infamous Beast of Bodmin Moor is said to roam the moors in Cornwall
The Beast is described as a black panther-like big cat and there have been more than 60 sightings over the years

Whilst many myths and legends lend themselves to victory of good over evil, such as the tales of Robin Hood and King Arthur, others focus on our fascination with mystery and romance. The well-known story of The Grey Lady (also referred to as The Green Lady) is one of passion
Shortly after marrying Lady Louisa Carteret
became suspicious of his new wife’s relationship with a young footman
rumours spread amongst the staff of Longleat House and Thomas’s temper was getting shorter
Thomas confronted the footman who denied any affair and in a fit of rage
Thomas pushed him down the stairs breaking his neck in the fall
The body was said to have been buried in the cellar and Thomas informed Lady Louisa that the footman had left without a word
Lady Louisa believed the footman had been imprisoned in the house
Legend has it that Lady Louisa still wanders the corridors in search for her true love with reported sightings by staff and visitors
A team of specialists from the Federal Aviation Administration use virtual reality headsets as a way to determine the best location for an air traffic control tower for the St
A preliminary design concept for an traffic control tower for the St
George officials were recently given reports on current and future work being done the regional airport
This included an update on the placement and initial design concept for a multimillion dollar air traffic control tower the Legislature granted funding for earlier this year
The City Council was given an update on the control tower during its Aug
8 work meeting by Interim Airport Manager Dustin Warren
What he shared with the council specifically was a 15% design review of the project that outlined the basics of the project and where the control tower is set to be built
Following the Legislature’s appropriating $15 million for the project work soon started on surveying different sites for the control tower
The was done by a team of specialists with the Federal Aviation Administration who examined five locations using virtual reality headsets
“They were able to use VR headsets to physically be in the tower and be able to adjust the height so they knew how high and where the tower should be,” Warren said
“It’s a really awesome innovation that went into this,” Warren said
A similar process using virtual reality and drones was recently used by an engineering firm to scout out prospective air traffic control tower sites for the Boulder City Municipal Airport in Nevada
Considerations that go into a tower site section include whether or not it interferes with existing navigational aids
how tall the tower needs to be to allow controllers to maintain a visual on the area
if all movement can be seen from the tower
along with items related to geotechnical and soil considerations and how the movement of the sun may impact the ability to see from the tower’s cab
The FAA team reviewed five proposed locations for a tower at the St
George Regional Airport and settled on a spot on the hillside west of the airport’s terminal and airfield. The preliminary design to the tower has it standing at 70 feet with seven levels
a conference and training area and an FAA communications facility
The top two levels include a utility floor underneath the air traffic control cab at the top level
as an additional level can run $1 million-plus
the city is opting for a rectangular structural rather than an octagonal one seen in the initial renderings of the tower
This will also allow the city to save money while giving it move space to work with
After presenting the initial design concept to the council
Warren said someone will update them again when the design level has reached 30%
George Airport is currently handled by FAA staff out of Los Angeles
the federal agency deemed the regional airport a candidate for it own control tower due increasing flight increases in and out of the facility
The airport saw its highest passenger numbers in 2021 — nearly 326,000 — as travel rebounded from the COVID-19 pandemic
Though 2022 saw a dip in passengers (274,500)
with over 298,000 people going to and from the airport
Having a tower all its own will increase the safety and efficiency of flight operations around the airport of both airlines, commercial and private fliers, former Airport Manager Rich Stehmeier said in January
which operates commercial flights at the airport
SkyWest manages the commercial flights in and out of the airport and handles 2,000 flights a day across the country
It also one of the biggest employers in Washington County
SkyWest offers connector flights to Salt Lake City
as well as a seasonal flight to Dallas-Fort Worth
Flights to Los Angeles are set to return in September

What started as a cheeky banana prank quickly baked into something bigger – now it’s a full-fledged bread business bringing in the dough
the most out-there thing that we would have never expected,” Kate’s Banana Bread co-owner Brock Guthrie said

a homemade banana bread business that began as an unexpected fluke

the couple took a leap of faith and quit their jobs to prioritize spending time together
Brock Guthrie had been working for a well-known YouTuber while his wife was building a career in web development
Knowing it would take time for their new venture to gain traction
they turned to working for DoorDash to keep things afloat after burning through their savings
they stopped at the mall to change their baby's diaper and take a breather

“We couldn’t make banana bread fast enough.”
Their home oven could handle 20 loaves at a time
and their kitchen table quickly became a banana bread bonanza
With two KitchenAid mixers whirring away and every available surface covered in bread
the couple often found themselves baking into the wee hours
They started using their neighbor’s oven so often that a well-trodden path appeared between their houses
The business began with $5 classic banana bread
As requests for chocolate chip banana bread rolled in
they introduced pumpkin banana chocolate chip and pumpkin banana with cinnamon and sugar
they debuted two new coconut banana bread flavors: The Islander and Coconut Dream
each featuring a choice of white or semi-sweet chocolate with a coconut drizzle
they added all four in gluten-free options
The years the couple lived in Hawaii inspired their original banana bread recipe
and each loaf features a sticker that reads “Made with Aloha.” Their goal is to capture the warmth and comfort of the islands and make customers feel like family from the moment they taste their bread
Brock Guthrie stumbled upon a banana suit online and thought it would be a highly entertaining marketing tool
And I remember some days just dancing out there
and it sort of became the mascot character of our business.”
He said the significance of their banana bread is more than just the bread itself; it’s about the human experience people have with it
The banana suit has become a key part of that
turning the experience into one of fun and spreading smiles
but what is it that it does to make you happy?” he said

The owners said they plan to expand Kate’s Banana Bread with more merchandise online and a greater social media presence
There are talks of including a banana bread mix in the lineup of goodies

The Louisiana Supreme Court has denied a request for a rehearing on its ruling that allows the new city of St
George to move forward in southeast Baton Rouge
On April 26, the court ruled 4-3 that organizers had provided a reasonable plan for incorporation and would be able to provide residents with proper services
overturning rulings from both a district court and an appeals court
but on Thursday the court — again on a 4-3 vote — denied it
George is moving forward with building a city that is accountable to its citizens
We look forward to working together for a better city and ultimately a better parish,” stated St
who was recently appointed to the new position
East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome said in a statement that the Supreme Court denial of a rehearing means that key issues — the date St
George was incorporated and its boundaries — are still unresolved
She said such issues can be resolved only by "district court per Louisiana law," but stopped short of saying that she would pursue further litigation

“The Supreme Court has done a disservice to everyone in this parish," Pierson said
Pierson faulted the high court for not addressing the open questions that Broome referenced
"What they have done is to ensure another 10 years of litigation," Pierson predicted
George is not going to be here for at least five to 10 years
which promises to be the fifth-largest city in Louisiana

George incorporation behind us so we can continue to build the city," Murrell said
That case has been on hold awaiting the outcome of the main St
Many residents in the southeastern part of East Baton Rouge Parish have been pushing for a new city for years
arguing their tax dollars could be used more effectively and that they wanted more localized control
Opponents of a new city argue it would slash the tax base for the existing city of Baton Rouge and retrench racial divides in the parish — about 12% of the roughly 86,000 St
George residents at the time of the election were Black
while the parish as a whole is about 47% Black
a second attempt to incorporate won the approval of 54% of voters within the boundaries of the proposed new city

George supporters have maintained that the official date of incorporation is Nov

Murrell said that remains the stance of St
but said it may ultimately get decided by a court
George views as the proper date of incorporation
Murrell clarified that April 26 is the date on which the clock starts to seek the 2% sales tax revenue
reflecting delays from the years of litigation

city residents can apply for building permits and inspections

But Sir Keir likens the on-going angst of today with the “best of our country” he experienced in 1996 when it came together during the Euro football tournament at the old Wembley stadium
He said: “Yet now – we can see people trying to sow division in our communities
People taking the red and white of our flag with them as they throw bricks at businesses
“That is what happened last year – in the riots
Because it was the aftermath of the riots that showed what it means to be English
It’s in that spirit that we reclaim our flag for our country
“Wrench it out of the hands of those who want to divide this nation
Riots erupted last July following the murder of three girls at a Taylor Swift-themed dance workshop in Southport before spreading to other parts of the country including London and Manchester.
the country can’t be “under any illusions” of the battle on his hands
Labour are becoming increasingly concerned about the progress of Reform as they campaign ahead of next week’s local elections
Two-thirds of voters in so-called Red Wall seats told a Survation poll featured in The Sun last week that Britain was broken and the country was heading in the wrong direction
The intervention came at a special event to mark England’s national day in Downing Street attended by NHS staff, police officers, charity workers and celebrities including Ross Kemp
Guests were invited to eat typically English food at the event including Melton Mowbray pies, Lancashire Eccles cakes and Bakewell tarts
Number 10 said the PM wanted to invite people who show a “strong sense of English patriotism”
It follows Mr Farage warning: “I’m very concerned that we have whole areas of our towns and cities that are unrecognisable as being English
but they’re not unrecognisable as being English because of skin colour
“They’re unrecognisable because of culture.”
Sir Keir made a thinly-veiled attack on his political opponents as he said the St George's flag belonged to the whole country - not any political party
Speaking in Downing Street, the PM said: "That flag doesn't belong to me as Prime Minister, it doesn't belong to my party, the Labour Party
"It belongs to all of us, to England in all of its wonderful diversity
And we should be proud of that flag and we must never concede it because it's an expression of our values and our patriotism.”

To unite the community in a collective stand against the Electronic Cigarette Amendments bill that passed during this year’s legislative session
Designated SB 61, the bill bans all flavored vapor products and any other vapor products not approved by Utah’s Premarket Tobacco Applications and will go into effect on Dec. 31. Cloud 9 and the Utah Vapor Business Association hope to take action against the decision and hold lawmakers accountable
“We need as much of the community’s support as we can get,” said Brendon Gunn
owner of Cloud 9 and board member of the Utah Vapor Business Association
“The state legislature has effectively banned vapor products in the entire state of Utah
We need to let people know what their intentions are and why they’re doing it.”
Gunn emphasized that whether or not someone uses vapor products is irrelevant
“They’re creating a monopoly for the Big Tobacco companies to eventually take over the vapor industry … eliminating all the small businesses in their path,” he added
Gunn said that the vapor industry has significantly reduced the use of combustible cigarettes
leading to fewer cigarette butts on the streets
a reduction in the smell of cigarettes and less exposure to secondhand smoke
While Gunn doesn’t expect sympathy from people who don’t smoke or vape
he urges people to consider the reasons behind the ban and the state’s overreach
It’s also important to think about the impact on smokers
Those who have transitioned to less harmful alternatives like vaping might soon be forced back to combustible tobacco products or have no option at all
“If you look at the history of addiction and nicotine
they don’t anticipate the majority of people will stop using nicotine altogether; instead
the state is banning their products while tobacco remains readily available on store shelves
attendees can participate in a petition drive
Envelopes and stamps will be ready for use
so all attendees need to do is fill out the petition and put their own address on the envelope
“What people can do is show up at this concert
enjoy some great music and a great atmosphere and have an opportunity to make a difference,” Gunn said
Cloud 9 will also highlight the Utah Vapor Business Association
which represents retail tobacco specialty businesses
The association advocates for the state’s efforts to responsibly regulate tobacco alternatives
“This isn’t just about vaping; it’s about standing up against corporate greed and protecting the rights of individuals to make informed choices about their health,” the GoFundMe reads
We need your support to mount a robust defense against this unjust ban and the corporate interests behind it.”
advocacy efforts and public awareness through campaigns to educate both the public and lawmakers about the benefits of vaping and the negative consequences of flavor bans

The town crier of St George has resigned and applications have been invited from people interested in filling the role
Michael Jones will hang up his bell and tunic at the end of the month
the town manager of the Corporation of St George
confirmed yesterday that Mr Jones was standing down but declined to give further details
She said: “It’s a staffing issue; I have nothing more to say.“
Mr Jones told the Royal Gazette: “It saddens me to have tendered my resignation
“Thanks to all whose path may have crossed mine and all who have supported me over the last 55 years of my tourism involvement
while serving as a councillor on the St George’s Corporation
“The voters then decided they would prefer to have me serve as the town Mayor
That was back in 2003 and I was duly elected one month after Hurricane Fabian
“During that time I was able to visit Lyme Regis
and managed to win a number of town crier competitions.”
Mr Jones returned to the position of town crier after a gap of about two decades
The Gazette reported in 2022 that many world-renowned criers had mentored and trained him over the years
An article then said that in 16 crier competitions
made it to the Top Three in the World Championships and had won both best dressed and best crier ten different times
who was crier for more than 15 years before being laid off by the Corporation of St George in December 2020
Mr Jones wrote earlier this week on Facebook: “Oyez Oyez Oyez
My last official day as Town Crier will be June 30
The post prompted a stream of replies from supporters and wellwishers
One commenter wrote: “You're a true professional and a great ambassador for St George’s and Bermuda
Mr Jones insisted online that he would remain in St George working to make sure that visitors had a positive experience
He wrote in response to another comment: “I’ll be around for our visitors until I can’t
Already have 55 years under my belt with tourism
The corporation placed an advertisement in the Gazette last week seeking a replacement for Mr Jones
It said: “Embrace the role of town crier in the Town of St George and become an integral part of our historic community
bringing history to life for visitors from around the world.”
The advertisement added that the position was “a vital role in maintaining the historical charm and enhancing visitor experience” in the town
Key attributes were said to include “a neat appearance” as well as self-motivation and excellent communication skills
Mr Jones wrote on Facebook: “There will be someone I hope even better than I

Aviano said she wants also wants people who were not in any of the films to submit as well
