A Springfield restaurant was covering buckets of chicken with a "dirty plastic tarp," according to a March 24 inspection report from the Springfield-Greene County Health Department.
was using a "dirty plastic tarp" to cover buckets of chicken
The problem was corrected by removing the tarp and discarding the chicken that was touched by it
dumplings and large portions of meat stored in the freezer without being date marked
The restaurant will not need a re-inspection
Issues found during inspections fall into either priority or non-priority violations
Priority violations impact the safety of the food
such as cross-contamination between raw and ready-to-eat food
improper food temperature and poor personal hygiene and employee health
Multiple priority violations can lead to an establishment being shut down
Non-priority violations alone do not directly affect food safety
sticky tabletops or outside trash cans not being covered
More: Frequent reader of Greene County food inspections? Here's what inspectors want you to know
Each report identifies what was happening at the establishment at that time. Consumers who want to know whether a violation is a one-time thing or a pattern are encouraged to refer to previous reports
Here are food inspections from the past week:
March 19 routine inspection – Result: active
One priority violation: Observed 0 parts per million bleach in sanitizer bucket
which was corrected on site and education given
March 24 routine inspection – Result: active
Two non-priority violations: Observed faucet loose at hand-washing sink; observed sandwiches prepared on site missing ingredients for bread and lunch meat used

We're just a few days into the regular season
and the Chicago White Sox are already embarrassing themselves
Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Angels was delayed when rain and hail began pouring down at Rate Field in the bottom of the seventh inning
the wind started whipping through the Windy City
the White Sox grounds crew forgot to check the forecast — because they looked woefully unprepared for the sudden downpour
As staff ran onto the field to spread out the tarp
the weight of the rainwater prevented the crew from getting the tarp all the way across the infield
After making it across half of the infield
forcing the grounds crew to grab whatever they could find to protect the rest of the dirt
As some of the grounds crew fought for their lives to keep the main tarp in place
others improvised by throwing much smaller mound tarps over the base paths
SIGN UP for The Daily OutKick. New Look, Same Attitude.
The result was a work of art that only the Chicago White Sox could pull off
And fans on social media certainly let them hear about it
This is not a great look for the 2025 White Sox, who are attempting to regain some dignity after the worst season in modern MLB history. The South Siders won just 41 games last year after starting the season an almost-impossible 3-22
against the Angels on Friday but took a 1-0 loss Saturday
this disastrous tarp incident is pretty on-brand for the pitiful White Sox
it wasn't the grounds crew who lost 121 games last year

This is the state of affairs with literally everything surrounding the once proud face of southside Chicago baseball.
The "already in midseason form" cliché gets thrown around too often nowadays, and I take no joy in watching this organization continue to trip all over themselves and be the laughing stock of professional baseball.
Chicago once enjoyed a healthy rivalry between its American League and National League teams. Back when both teams' ownership groups gave a shit about winning.
It's beyond the point of no return with Reinsdorf. I genuinely feel bad for White Sox fans at this point. He is not just torturing his fanbase, he is causing them to no longer enjoy the sport altogether. An issue I know is plaguing fans of several franchises in the sport now, not just the White Sox. And something the other owners in the sport need to address for the greater good of the sport as a whole.
They need to enforce a salary floor if they're not going to ever seriously implement a cap. If they're going to share revenue, then cheapskate scumbag owners shouldn't be rewarded by the success of the well run teams who actually do generate revenue. And if they refuse, like the Reinsdorfs and John Fishers of the world- then force them to sell to ownership groups who will.
If you don't think this is a flawed business model, you have rocks for brains.

It proved to be yet another record-shattering night at the Ponoka Stampede's 2025 WPCA Tarp Auction
held May 2 in the Stagecoach Saloon on the Stampede grounds
the Stampede marked a record sale total
and it's also the very first time the auction broke the $600,000 mark
Prime advertising space was available on the chuckwagons of the best 32 drivers in the world
plus for four wildcard wagons on chuckwagon racing’s predominant racing circuit
The wagon community and the Ponoka community do so much to support us
and that (in turn) helps us give back to the community
and it also helps us to put on a world-class fair," said Jim Harbidge, the Ponoka Stampede Association's chuckwagons director
"We've had just fantastic support from the sponsors."
This year's totals were up a whopping $40,500 over the now previous record total of $576,500 set just last year
"The top bid of the night went to defending Ponoka Stampede Champion Luke Tournier
and 2022 Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Champion Kris Molle when Pidherney’s and Eagle Builders respectively each paid $35,000."
the Cattle Raffle early bird draw was made
"This is the kick-off to our Stampede season," said Harbidge of the auction
giving the buyers a chance to advertise on those tarps," he said
adding that 80 per cent of the money goes to the drivers with 20 per cent going towards ensuring a top-notch Stampede event in general
The auction kicked off with a reception followed by the auction which was led by world champ auctioneer Danny Skeels
Another highlight of the evening was the crowning of Miss Ponoka Stampede 2025
Tonight is special - it's officially the day I will take over," she said
but overall I'm just really excited to get the summer started."
She also emphasized how honoured she is to be Miss Ponoka Stampede
and looks forward to a busy stint representing the world-class event
"I am overjoyed - the Ponoka Stampede is the best of the best
so I'm counting down the days to be able to represent it - I honestly can't wait
This year's Ponoka Stampede runs from June 25 to July 1

Metrics details
Transmembrane AMPA receptor regulatory proteins (TARPs) are claudin-like proteins that tightly regulate AMPA receptors (AMPARs) and are fundamental for excitatory neurotransmission
With cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) we reconstruct the 36 kDa TARP subunit γ2 to 2.3 Å
which points to structural diversity among TARPs
Our data reveals critical motifs that distinguish TARPs from claudins and define how sequence variations within TARPs differentiate subfamilies and their regulation of AMPARs
While many foundational functional and cryo-EM studies have driven the field forward
the precise structural details of how TARPs regulate AMPARs remain ambiguous
The reliance on claudin structures for TARP modeling has hampered the identification of distinct structural features that (1) differentiate TARPs from claudins and (2) explain the regulatory potential of TARPs for AMPARs
we use cryo-EM to determine the structure of the prototypical TARP
We identify motifs in TARPγ2 that distinguish TARP classes from one another and further differentiate TARPs from claudins
These structural features likely underlie modulatory effects exhibited by TARPs on AMPAR gating

c Cartoon schematic of TARPγ2 structure highlighting key structural features that rigidify the entire ECD atop the tetraspanin TMD
a Multiple sequence alignment demonstrating the relative conservation of the TARP Cleat Motif
and Loop Anchor DSB between TARP family members

Loop Anchor DSB is unique to type-I and excluded from type-II TARPs
b Alignment of TARPγ2 structure in cyan with other TARP family members (TARPγ3
c Zoomed in view of TARP extracellular domains illustrating differing orientations in the β1-β2 loops
d View of the TARP cleat motif illustrating conservation among all TARP family members
e Model of predicted β1-β2 loop orientations between type-I and type-II TARPs illustrating distinct potential contacts between TARP subtypes and AMPARs
We hypothesize that these structural details and their conservation were previously missed because of a lack of structural resolution
Given the conformational changes associated with AMPAR gating
the presence or absence of the loop anchor DSB within type-I TARPs versus type-II TARPs could explain differences observed in electrophysiology experiments between chimeric constructs of the β1-β2 loop in type-I and type-II TARPs

d percentages of desensitization (two-tailed Welch’s t-test

conclude that the loop DSB is critical for the function of type-I TARPs
given that the loss of this single disulfide linkage phenocopies the loss of the entire β1-β2 loop
Cartoon representation of TARPγ2 showing extracellular features that are critical for AMPAR modulation
and the TM3-Β5 loop (pink) are predicted to modulate AMPAR gating from TARPs in the “Y” position and
increase the fraction of desensitized AMPARs compared to WT TARPγ2
The β4-TM2 loop (purple) is predicted to modulate AMPAR gating from the “X” position and
in addition to regulating the fraction of desensitized AMPARs
To explain how these disparate structural features are all required for TARPγ2 to enhance activation via reducing the population of desensitized receptors, we propose a model in which these motifs orchestrate a network of extracellular interactions (Fig. 4)
The loop anchor DSB enables the β1-β2 loop to interact with AMPARs while at the “Y” site
Loss of this DSB ablates the TARPγ2 effect on the activated state
by which TARPγ2 interacts with AMPARs while at the “X” site
is also critical for enhancing AMPAR activation
the presence of both motifs at disparate sites around the AMPAR is critical for the effect of TARPs on AMPAR activation by limiting the population of desensitized receptors
the β4-TM2 loop affects the desensitization kinetics via mechanisms that are not completely clear
This may explain how TARP stoichiometry can tune AMPAR function through differential occupancy of the “X” and “Y” sites
Supporting this idea is that type-II TARPs and GSG1L modulate AMPARs via the β1-β2 loop while occupying the “X” site
The TARP cleat fixes the orientation of the TARP ECD atop the transmembrane helical bundle
A high-resolution structural analysis of how the TARP motifs change during AMPAR gating is required to fully delineate these details
The TARP cleat motif also plays a significant role in distinguishing TARPs from claudins
Both TARPs and claudins share the same overall structural fold (i.e.
tetraspanin with a five-stranded extracellular β-sheet)
claudins have strong oligomerization properties
where they self-oligomerize to form paracellular barriers
A similar phenomenon has not been reported for TARP proteins
We propose that the TARP cleat motif plays a role in preventing oligomerization in TARPs
enabling their complexation with AMPARs and other synaptic proteins
and how precise moieties in the ECD account for tune AMPAR function
we precisely define how TARPs are differentiated from claudins
which may explain the critical point of divergence between the structurally related proteins that are functionally distinct
Our findings provide a framework for future studies to understand the function of TARPs and foundations to target TARPs in structure-based drug design against AMPAR-related neurological disorders
For each TARP subunit structure prediction
the respective amino acids corresponding to the cleat motif and disulfide bridge were determined
Cleat motif measurements were taken by calculating the distance between the Cα’s of histidine to tyrosine and Cα’s of tyrosine to tryptophan
Calculations were performed using the Biopython.PDB package
AlphaFold2 accession numbers of models: AF-Q9Y698
ECS without glutamate was applied for 2 s between each 500 ms interval
Recordings were performed using Axopatch 700B amplifier and Digidata 1550B (Molecular Devices) at −60 mV hold potential and acquired at 1 kHz using pCLAMP10.7 software (Molecular Devices)
Data analyses were focused on the peak currents above 200 pA to ensure an accurate measurement of desensitization and its kinetics
The percentage of GluA2-Tarpγ2 desensitization was calculated as depicted below:
Desensitization kinetics (τdesensitization) were obtained from fitting traces to a standard first-order Chebyshev exponential with a 4-pt smoothing filter (Clampfit 10.7)

Rain began pouring down at Rate Field in the middle of the bottom of the seventh inning of Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Angels
so much so that the White Sox's grounds crew struggled to get a hold of the situation
The tarp got stuck after it was spread out across roughly half of the infield
forcing the grounds crew to explore alternative measures of protecting the field
With the big tarp unable to fulfill its duties
the grounds crew brought out various smaller tarps of different shapes and sizes in order to get as much of the infield covered as possible
The most White Sox tarp job you’ll ever see pic.twitter.com/jzheAnyto4
the game runs the risk of being suspended since it was tied 2–2 at the time of the delay
The disastrous tarp job over the Rate Field infield led to plenty of jokes from MLB fans
who couldn't help but laugh at the unfortunate situation in Chicago
I’ve never seen a grounds crew struggle so badly to get the tarp on the field. pic.twitter.com/azuAgy23dR
We’re getting close to the finished product. The White Sox have a lot of tarps. pic.twitter.com/QfRyuvsGuF
This tarp situation just sums up the Angels and White Sox so well
Watching the white Sox grounds crew mess up putting the tarp on the field is a great summary of this organization

SILVER CREEK — The Jamestown Tarp Skunks are looking to honor one of the area’s greatest baseball stars of the past
Silver Creek Mayor Jeff Hornburg was recently approached about scheduling a night at Jamestown’s Diethrick Park to honor the legacy of Howard Ehmke
spent 15 years in Major League Baseball from 1915-1930
He won the 1929 World Series as the Game 1 starter of the series for the Philadelphia Athletics
Ehmke won 166 games and registered more than 1,000 strikeouts in his career
Ehmke started a company that made tarps to protect baseball diamonds from the rain
The Tarp Skunks want to honor Ehmke’s legacy with a night to teach the community about the local baseball history right here in Chautauqua County
“We are going to be looking into that for the near future to see if we can make something happen,” Hornburg said
a public hearing on the tentative budget is scheduled for April 7 at 7 p.m.
at the onset of the next regular meeting of the Village Board
The Village Board also approved the application of Benjamin Wassell for membership to the Silver Creek Fire Department

Lieutenant Colonel (ret) Dave “Tarp” Tarpley
lost his battle with esophageal cancer and “slipped the surly bonds of Earth” one last time 15 Mar 2025
at his Mountain Air Park home surrounded by family and friends
Dave is survived by his wife Elizabeth Tarpley
step-daughter Brittany and her fiancé Erik
his lifelong passion was airplanes and flying. He loved building
especially if it was one of his builds! Afterwards
he absolutely enjoyed partying with those who shared these flying escapades with him
his career began not in the Air Force but in the Army shortly after high school. For several years
he proudly served in several armored divisions and was a Huey gunner on the Korean DMZ
Tarp was now ready for college with the aim of becoming an Air Force pilot. He liked aviation history
so it was natural for him to get a BA degree in history from the University of Kansas
Dave was also a ROTC cadet and began his flying with a first flight on 31 January 1970 in a Cessna 150
he went straight to the Air Force and graduated from pilot training in1975
his guiding vision was to never ever take a non-flying assignment and fly important missions with as little oversight as possible
the Air Force often selected him for special
and much of his career and airplanes are not known except by those he served with
The standout portions of his career that we can write about was commanding an AC-130H gunship during the 1983 Grenada war
qualifying in the classic DC-3 and then standing up the initial El Salvadoran AC-47 Spooky Gunship squadron
graduating from the National Test Pilot school
being the prime test pilot for Project 46 (the certification of the MC-130E Combat Talon 1 for picking up 4 to 6 people using the Fulton Recovery System)
winning the 1992 Sun-N-Fun Air Race (160 to 200mph class) in the experimental White Lightning
he held several classified flying positions as well as a 4-year stint at Lockheed as a test pilot for the new C-130J
He really enjoyed the latter as he got to check out foreign crews around the world in this stretched and highly upgraded C-130
In addition to his military and contract flying
Tarp always owned a private fleet of aircraft tucked away in a hangar somewhere so he could fly and tinker with airplanes on his off time
he flew over 17,000 hours in 30 plus aircraft types
Extended time away from home on often classified missions certainly didn’t make for an ideal social life
They would eventually settle in Mountain Air Park
where Tarp would build a huge hanger to house his fleet and projects
Liz could pursue her passion for horses and animals
and they could play with others that shared their passions
Friends visiting Tarp could always count on flying one of his most recent projects and then talking airplanes and life over a drink or two (or three….)
Tarp often displayed a tough exterior and was infamous for his fights against stupid rules and the authorities that issued them
a famous deep singing voice and often a charming
humorous demeanor. A true character and a legend within the special ops and classified worlds
Tarp touched many with his passion for flying and then celebrating – neither of which will ever be the same without him
Graveside services are scheduled for 10:30 A.M
The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — When you saw video of first responders at the scene of the Tesla Cybertruck bombing outside of the Trump International Hotel on New Year's Day
you might've wondered what the big tarp-like thing firefighters were using to smother the car was
Clark County Fire Department Deputy Fire Chief Billy Samuels had the answer at a news conference Wednesday
"We did extinguish the fire with assistance of the sprinkler systems
and along with that electric vehicle blanket that we use on those operations," Samuels said
something that not a lot of people were aware of
"I didn't know that was a thing," Alawad said
Clark County Fire Chief John Steinbeck says the blankets are just one more tool in their toolbox
designed specifically to tackle the unique challenges an electric car fire provides due to the lithium batteries and other toxic fumes they emit
WATCH MORE: Highway north of Las Vegas cleared after crash caused lithium battery fire
Crews were able to get a handle on the Cybertruck fire fairly quickly
Steinbeck says even though the truck exploded
the lithium battery inside didn't catch fire
Responding crews didn't know that at the time
so they deployed two electric vehicle fire blankets to smother the flames
The electric vehicle fire blankets are huge tarps that smother an electric car that's on fire–Steinbeck says they're pretty heavy and can take four or five firefighters to deploy
Crews will still spray water on the car–as they did with the Cybertruck on Wednesday–to knock down flames on its interior furnishings
Steinbeck said when electric cars started getting more and more popular
the fire service as a whole had to figure out what they needed to do to be prepared for the eventuality that some would catch fire
and that's when these blankets were developed
CCFD has been using them for several years
though Steinbeck wasn't sure of the exact date
He also wasn't sure exactly how much each one cost
a quick Google search shows an electric vehicle fire blanket starts at around $1,500 on the very low end
these electric vehicle fire blankets are extremely expensive and extremely cumbersome to use–it's for those reasons that
Chief Steinbeck doesn't recommend you get one if you're an electric car owner
the best thing to do is call 911 and leave it to the professionals
this whole ordeal has electric car drivers like Zaid Alawad thinking about taking extra precautions in the future
a small business or a startup would come up with something that's more practical when it comes to a more personalized version of [the electric vehicle fire blankets] that we could keep in the trunk or somewhere handy
kind of like a fire extinguisher," Alawad said
any worst case scenarios it would be easier to deploy
and hopefully it would be less expensive to purchase."
Tarp Aviation (RLA, Moscow Vnukovo) has recently added three Bombardier Business Aircraft Global jets, including the only Russian-registered Global 7500
The Global 7500, RA-73592 (msn 70070), was active under Russian registration already since December 2022, although at that time it was flying under its registration with no operator callsign. On May 27, 2024, the 4.3-year-old aircraft began operations under Tarp Aviation's 'RLA' code, on a flight from Moscow Vnukovo to Dubai World Central
Initially registered in Bermuda as VP-BAT, the jet was managed by Avcon Jet, and flew for the last time under the Bermudan registration on December 24, 2022, between Tbilisi and Almaty International
In the second half of 2024, Tarp Aviation added an 11.9-year-old Global 5000
The aircraft was first active on August 29
Initially using the registration as callsign
it began operating under Tarp Aviation's 'RLA' code in mid-September
Originally delivered to Avcon Jet Malta, it was transferred to the Austrian division of the company in 2020. It flew for the last time as OE-LEV and under Avcon Jet's 'AOJ' code on February 26, 2022, from Dubai International to Moscow Vnukovo
The jet was parked for more than two years before being inducted to Tarp Aviation's fleet
Most recently, Tarp Aviation added another Global aircraft, RA-73650, which began operations for the operator on January 2, 2025, between Moscow Vnukovo and Malé
Details regarding the type and serial number of the jet are currently unknown
The three aircraft join two Challenger 650s, another Global 5000, a Global 6000, a G650, and a Tu-204-300 in Tarp Aviation's fleet
All the identified Global jets were operated by Avcon Jet
Tarp Aviation, formerly Rolema, is chaired by Vitaly Tereshchenko, former general manager of Sirius-Aero (later rebranded as UNISKY (Russian Federation) and now in bankruptcy) and RusJet

Valve fan and CS2 content creator Gabe Follower noticed a peculiar detail on the new Cache map: a tarp that looks simple enough but actually has 100,000 polygons – a bizarre view and quite unnecessary since more polygons usually means worse performance
some X/Twitter users pointed out that this is tessellation and not the map makers' attempt at wasting time on complicated shapes
"Tessellation is a method of breaking down polygons into finer pieces
tessellation is a technique that allows you to generate primitives (triangles
it lets you repeatedly subdivide the current geometry into a finer mesh
This allows you to load a relatively coarse mesh on your graphics card
generate more vertices and triangles dynamically and then have a mesh on the screen that looks much smoother."

Think a tarp is a backpacking non-essential
On the fifth day of a recent backpacking trip in British Columbia
My lightweight rain shell had soaked through hours ago
Rainwater dripped off the ends of my braids and the brim of my hat
As soon as I stopped walking and dropped my pack
I had another trick up my (very wet) sleeve
Within minutes, my partner and I had rigged a tarp over our campsite
Without having to pitch and crawl into our tent
I fired up the stove to make some hot chocolate to warm my shaking hands
and rigged a clothesline to hang our soaked garments
All this while taking in the view from our oceanside camp
the rain broke for long enough to set up the tent
Many of my backpacking friends eschew carrying a tarp in addition to a tent
those meager ounces are almost always worth it
In addition to providing shelter in poor weather
And with a plethora of ultralight and compact models on the market
you can reap the benefits while adding negligible weight to your kit
your tent keeps you protected from the elements
and snack without worrying about getting crumbs in your sleeping space
we watched whales breach just offshore and chatted with other hikers while staying sheltered from the rain
A tarp can also provide a shady hangout in desert or alpine landscapes
so I can pitch and take it down without soaking my shelter
my partner and I pitched a cozy shelter over our ski poles and enjoyed a picnic lunch in a driving snowstorm
There’s nothing like being dry and comfortable as you watch a storm rage around you
Need to find a piece of gear that’s buried in the bottom of your pack
Want to take a snack inventory midway through a long trip
or try and balance it all on a flat-ish rock
and equipment without picking up a speck of dust
dry place for a gear-splosion is an underrated benefit of carrying a tarp
I experienced such strong winds that my tent poles tore a large gash right through my rain fly
but I would have appreciated the insurance policy
If your tent fails or needs reinforcements

was seen driving with three large trash bags
a heavy-duty trash can and a “large bulky item” wrapped in a blue tarp the day after her disappearance
The affidavit was obtained on Tuesday afternoon after a judge unsealed the document just before 4 p.m. Brad Simpson was charged with murder Thursday, even though Suzanne Simpson has yet to be found
Minutes after a judge unsealed the warrant
two of Simpson’s family violence charges were dropped
Court records show the cases were closed after the court rejected them for an extraneous offense
is the first look at evidence investigators have been piecing together in the month since her disappearance
The affidavit revealed additional details on Brad Simpson’s whereabouts in the hours and days after her disappearance and the efforts he took to disguise his movements
KSAT has redacted all identifying information from the affidavit
Suzanne Simpson was last seen on Oct. 6, after the couple attended a party at The Argyle
a private dinner club on Patterson Avenue in Alamo Heights
Olmos Park Police Chief Fidel Villegas previously said the couple fought at that event
a neighbor told police that they heard the Simpsons arguing outside their home
The neighbor said Suzanne Simpson was trying to get away from Brad Simpson as he tried to pull her down
It appeared Brad Simpson “was clearly attempting to keep Ms
Simpson from running away,” police previously said
The neighbor also reported hearing screams from a brushy area
Investigators told the media Friday they believe Suzanne Simpson is dead and that her remains could be in the Bandera area
>> ‘This situation is heartbreaking for us’: Suzanne Clark Simpson’s brother-in-law discusses his family’s pain
The arrest warrant affidavit states that around 7:53 a.m
hours after the neighbor saw the couple fighting at their home
Brad Simpson dropped off his young child at school and the bed of his truck contained at least two white trash bags and a large ice chest
Brad Simpson went to a Whataburger in Boerne
and the bed of his truck contained three white trash bags
bulky item wrapped and secured in a blue tarp
A metal firewood rack was placed on top of the blue tarp “in a manner to conceal and weigh the tarp down,” the affidavit states
Geolocation data showed Brad Simpson at a Home Depot in Boerne at around 9:53 a.m.

It seems even more refurbishment is taking place at the Haunted Mansion in Magic Kingdom Park
as new construction walls and a tarp have been added to a section of the attraction’s queue
As we previously reported earlier this month, the Duke and Duchess animatronics inside the Haunted Mansion graveyard scene were recently repaired
It appears Disney is not finished refurbishing the mansion
as a new construction wall and tarp have been added to a section of the queue
The new wall is located on the right of the exit path leading out of the attraction
The wall blocks guests from walking behind the ghostly hearse sitting in the middle of the stone path
The wall has been painted dark brown to somewhat match the color of the nearby bricks
The wall only reaches to about chest height
so it is relatively easy to see the work taking place on the other side
The ground behind the hearse has now been completely covered by a tan tarp
The tarp has been spread out to cover most of the stone walkway around the back of the hearse
and it leads all the way to the attraction’s queue on the opposite side
There are no tools or other construction materials present yet
so the nature of this work is still unknown
Is the Haunted Mansion one of your favorite Magic Kingdom attractions

Patronis activated “Operation Blue Roof” for multiple counties in the state
“The purpose of Operation Blue Roof is to provide homeowners and permanently occupied rental properties in disaster areas with fiber-reinforced sheeting to cover their damaged roofs until arrangements can be made for permanent repairs
This is a free service to homeowners,” a news release from Patronis’ Office said
While the Army Corps distributes the blue tarps, they are assisted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
An Army Corps news release said the blue tarps provide at least some temporary protection to homes that have roof damage until they can get repair work in order
it’s not clear when repair work might start
The Operation Blue Roof program gives federal authorities the “right of entry” to enter private property and help get the temporary shelter over homes in place
and allows residents to remain in their homes while recovering from the storm,” an Army Corps news release said
“The Right of Entry (ROE) is a legal document that allows Army Corps workers to access private property and assess damage to your home
The ROE also allows contracted crews to work on your roof.”
There is a set of criteria to qualify for the Operation Blue Roof program
— The home must be the primary residence of the person or household requesting the emergency roof covering
— The residence has no more than 50% of the roof framing damaged
The framing must support the plastic sheeting as a temporary repair and be able to provide safe shelter once contractors install the tarp
— The resident certifies that he or she is the owner of the residence requested to be covered or is a renter that has obtained legal permission to continue occupying the residence until more permanent repairs are made
— The resident certifies that they will shelter in the residence that they have requested to be covered
— The roof must be standard roof shingles or a similar material that will allow contractors to nail the tarp in place
Contractors will consider repairs to metal roofs and mobile homes on a case-by-case basis and will install the cover if possible
Contractors cannot cover roofs made of materials such as slate
asbestos or clay tile or other material which would be exceptionally difficult to repair or would likely be damaged during tarp installation
Florida counties that qualify for Operation Blue Roof include: Brevard
Applications for Operation Blue Roof are being accepted through Nov. 5 at the Army Corps designated website

this White Sox incompetence and ineptitude extends past the players and coaches
the White Sox grounds crew couldn't even unfurl its full big tarp to protect the field during a delay
They decided to use small patchy tarps to fill in the blanks where needed
They more or less covered the field up like a terribly and haphazardly wrapped Christmas present
if there's a better metaphor for the continued embarrassment that is the White Sox
I'd say this is a low point for the White Sox
