completed the acquisition of the three businesses from Saurer The acquisition of the automatic winding technology in the premium category completes Rieter’s ring and compact-spinning system and thus lays the foundation to further improve the company’s strong position in the largest staple fiber market segment The components businesses Accotex (elastomer technology for spinning machines) at the Muenster/Germany site and Temco (technology components for filament machines) at the Hammelburg/Germany site had already been acquired by Rieter as of December 1 Rieter had announced the acquisition of the three businesses on August 16 the three businesses generated sales of EUR 142 million in 2020 total sales amounted to EUR 235 million and EUR 260 million The winding machine business with new machines will be assigned to the Business Group Machines & Systems and the after-sales business will be assigned to the Business Group After Sales The Accotex and Temco component businesses are drives and revolutionising rotor spinning The single drive is of supreme importance for energy efficiency The rotor drive accounts for half of the energy consumed by conventional rotor spinning machines energy consumption becomes excessive on belt-driven machines Mills that increase their productivity by increasing the speed on centrally driven rotor spinning machines are risking the economic efficiency of their production The Autocoro 8 with its single-drive technology and new energy-optimised motors is said to use 20% less energy than the most energy-efficient conventional belt machine at the same rotor speed has made double-digit cost reductions possible The specific energy requirement per kilogram of yarn for a weaving yarn of a count of Ne 20 (Nm 34) spun at a rotor speed of 160,000 rpm The Autocoro 8 offers other economic benefits with innovative operating options designed to eliminate idle running when changing lots and winding sample packages Integrated piecing at the spinning position using SyncroPiecing is said to reduce waiting times and increase machine efficiency Higher take-up speeds or spinning settings with more frequent piecing cycles thus become more economically viable DigiWinding packs at least 10% more yarn onto each package with the same package diameter normally signifying better machine utilisation and also 10% less packaging 10% lower shipping costs and 10% fewer logistical staff in the spinning mill ergonomics means lean management and lean operations above all The symbol display at each individual spinning position communicates directly with the operators and accurately signals where and how they must intervene if a malfunction occurs This saves time and the need to walk down to the central operating unit at the machine head The Autocoro 8 also executes smooth lot changes automatically without any manual intervention the Autocoro 8 is also said to detect incorrectly inserted tubes autonomously so that human operating errors can be detected and corrected promptly The single spinning unit technology also cuts the amount of cleaning and servicing required as the spinning positions on the Autocoro 8 can be serviced individually section by section without having to shut down the entire machine Instead of having to make entire cleaning brigades available on a one-off basis to clean and service a complete machine three businesses from Saurer Netherlands Machinery Company B.V. the parent company of Saurer Spinning Solutions GmbH & Co Uebach-Palenberg/Germany and Saurer Technologies GmbH & Co Rieter will complete the offering of ring and compact spinning systems by acquiring the Schlafhorst automatic winder business Rieter invests in two attractive component businesses: Accotex (elastomer components for spinning machines) and Temco (bearing solutions for filament machines) the three businesses had a combined turnover of EUR 142 million in 2020 the total combined turnover was at a level of EUR 235 million and EUR 260 million The purchase price for the three businesses is EUR 300 million on a cash and debt free basis Rieter has financed the purchase price by cash and available credit lines.Rieter and Saurer expect to close the transaction during the month of August Rieter will acquire 57% of the shares of Saurer Netherlands The shares will be returned to Saurer after the implementation of the transaction in six to nine months it is envisaged that Rieter will supply automatic winders to Saurer in the future Linz Textil has opted for a solution which is said to combine
