Although John Schneider is one of the most well-respected GMs around the NFL
the main caveat of his often stellar draft performances has been the lack of successful offensive linemen
In recent years, the Seahawks have struggled mightily to find a steady group of offensive lineman that work well as a unit
They got the bookend tackles figured out in the 2022 Draft
securing a foundation of Charles Cross and Abraham Lucas that are young and effective when healthy
the interior has been tougher to address long-term
a project guard with elite size and ferocity in the 4th Round of the 2023 Draft
a seemingly well-rounded early-starter at guard in the 3rd Round of the 2024 Draft
and hasn’t moved well enough at his size to pass protect at a starter caliber level
Haynes struggled to beat out UDFA Sataoa Laumea
leading Seattle to pick two more Guard prospects in the final two rounds of the 2025 Draft in Bryce Cabeldue and Mason Richman
While they’ll certainly make it to the preseason
it’s interesting to see the Seahawks bring in Montana State OG Marcus Wehr for a tryout
gaining steam as a late-round guard value as he held up against top DL prospects in 1-on-1s- similar to Seattle’s 1st Round Pick Grey Zabel at the Senior Bowl
but bears similarities to Zabel that could allow him to rise similarly in camp
They posted the 1st- and 2nd- ranked PFF Grades among all FCS offensive linemen who played at least 80% of their team’s offensive snaps
with Zabel slightly edging Wehr out 90.4 to 89.2
They each anchored an offense who made the FCS National Championship
in which North Dakota State beat Montana State 35-32
While Cabeldue and Richman were drafted on athletic testing and profiles
Wehr and Zabel truly have the mean streak that you can’t teach
Even though Rookie Minicamp doesn’t display OL hitting in pads
Wehr has a shot to stick around until that point in Training Camp and make the OL depth decisions hard come preseason

Wehr and the Cats were the outright Big Sky champions in 2024 with an 8-0 league record
Wehr's blocking helped produce three 1,000-yard rushers last year — running backs Scottre Humphrey (1,386) and Adam Jones (1,172) and quarterback Tommy Mellott (1,050)
The Bobcats totaled 53 rushing touchdowns in 2024
Mellott went on to win the Walter Payton Award as the top offensive player in the FCS

Marcus Wehr is a three-year starter at right tackle and guard, including 12 starts during the 2024 season inside Montana State's run-heavy (69-31 run-pass split) shotgun-based, zone run scheme. Wehr has a squatty build without much sand, below-average athletic ability and solid upper body-strength.
He has enough upper-body strength and heavy hands to press and widen the hole on kick-outs
Wehr drives his feet and strains to finish blocks with adequate ability to intersect targets on the move
leaving him behind target and susceptible to allowing penetration
Wehr is largely untested due to a run-heavy scheme
but he shows an adequate anchor to die slowly against the bull rush and plug the gap against loopers
quickness and length are limiting factors in the pro game
high-effort blocker with efficient zone-run blocking skills
His limited physical tools and lack of dominating blocks at the FCS level suggest he's worth inviting to camp and has roster potential if he can play center effectively
intentional zone-run blocker who fires out of his stance on time to get to his landmarks
— Solid upper-body strength with the effort and strain to press and widen the hole on cutoffs and overtakes
— Knows how to create lift and drive through the in-steps of his feet on base blocks to create initial displacement
— Shows solid timing on combos to release and close space on his climb to 'backers
— Middling athletic ability and movement skills
— Struggles to adjust against moves across his face that leave him lagging behind his target
— Squatty build without explosive traits cap his ability to match power with power in the NFL
— Originally committed to Montana State in 2019 as a defensive lineman before making the switch to the offensive line in the summer of 2022
— 31 career starts at right tackle (18) and right guard (13)
— 2023 and 2024 FCS AP First-Team All-American
— Reportedly squatted 600 pounds
cleaned 375 and jumped 31 inches in the vertical leap this past offseason
— Accepted his invite to the 2025 Shrine Bowl
GRADE: 5.4 (Backup UDFA with Roster Potential)
Written by B/R NFL Scout Brandon Thorn
a position switch comes with platitudes of praise
Teammates and coaches talk about unselfishness and doing what’s best for the team
the narrative also gravitates towards how the player willing to switch to a different spot to help his team also gave himself a new opportunity to get on the football field
And while these dynamics certainly apply to the story of Marcus Wehr
the Montana State offensive lineman’s position switch also opened a whole new world of opportunities
the Billings native first transformed into one of the best offensive linemen in college football before evolving into one of the top pro prospects – at any position – in the FCS
301-pounder landed on national college football writer Bruce Feldman’s famed “Top 100 Biggest Freaks in college football” list because of his weight room exploits and explosive athleticism
his first season as a full-time offensive guard
Wehr had a Pro Football Focus run-blocking grade of 93.5
the highest in all of college football among interior offensive linemen.
He ended his Bobcat career as a first-team All-American for the second year in a row
marking the first time that a Montana State offensive lineman has earned that distinction twice
the Billings Central alum will become the first Montana State player to be drafted into the NFL since Daniel Hardy was a 7th round pick in 2022
If Wehr gets his name called during this weekend’s NFL Draft
he will be the 63rd native Montanan drafted into one of the most competitive professional leagues in the world
Wehr has the work ethic and mindset that would’ve likely made him at least a contributing
solid defensive lineman if he had stayed at the position he was recruited to college to play
But what if he never would’ve made the switch
you’d never know that Wehr was slated to play anything but offensive line coming out of high school.
“He looks like all the guys that have made it
whether it’s Dylan McMahon or Juice Scruggs or Mason McCormick — made of the right things
maximized their play at an all-star game like this
make rosters and play for a long time,” East-West Shrine Bowl director of football operations and player personnel Eric Galko told 406MTsports.com earlier this year
We at the Shrine Bowl invited him really early because we believed in him as a player pretty early on and think he’s a slam dunk NFL player and a draft pick
Wehr wasn’t recruited as an offensive lineman out of a Class A Montana high school that’s carved out a reputation for its option football exploits
Not only that – Wehr toiled for several seasons along Montana State’s defensive line
breaking the rotation but never emerging as any sort of stalwart or star
grown-man strength working in his father’s tire shop in the Magic City
When he first came out of Billings Central and signed with the Bobcats in the Class of 2019
“From the first day when we first came in our freshman year of 2019
just the way he approached everything,” MSU center Justus Perkins said in July
“He talked about all the time how he was going to play 30 to 40 snaps (per game) his redshirt freshman year.”
then 2020 came around and nobody played any football
He played a bit along the Bobcat defensive line in 2021 before MSU head coach Brent Vigen came to him with a proposition: he felt Wehr could have a better opportunity to play more snaps and would help the Bobcats most along the offensive line
By the time fall camp rolled around in 2022
Vigen was openly talking about how Montana State’s offensive line would take a big step forward from 2021
almost impossible-to-fulfill statement given that the 2021 offensive line was anchored by future NFL player Lewis Kidd and multiple-time All-Big Sky guard Taylor Tuiasosopo
But the 2022 ‘Cat offensive line eventually proved their coach’s proclamation correct – and much of that was because of the emergence of Wehr as a stud right tackle to anchor Montana State’s power run game
“He has become obsessed with offensive line play,” Vigen said in December
“His attention to detail is like very few offensive linemen I’ve ever been around
very high level and that’s why he can execute so consistently.”
putting on more than 30 pounds in the first off-season after the switch and another 20 more over the last few years
He talked about how strenuous and time-consuming it was to eat that many calories
he was a kid who stuck it out when things weren’t going his way,” former Montana State All-American quarterback Tommy Mellott said on Tuesday
“He worked his butt off and tried to do everything right on and off the field
And when he was asked to give a look as an offensive lineman
he did it with a smile on his face because it would help the team
“He’s always been a lunch-pail kind of guy who shows up and does what is asked of him to the best of his ability
Then he transformed into an amazing O-lineman because he was so intentional about trying to help the team
It was because he knew if he learned how to play
“He’s also become obsessed with offensive linemen and being one,” Vigen said with a laugh
And his favorite player is David Bakhtiari
Who’s favorite player is actually an offensive lineman
Wehr made 31 starts over the last three seasons and has been a part of a tremendous amount of winning
He has two Big Sky Conference championship rings
MSU won 35 games since Wehr made the switch
although he missed the second half of the 2021 season with a lower leg injury that he bounced back from in short order
He has helped pave the way for three of the most prolific rushing attacks in the history of the Big Sky
And he’s done it while fully embracing his evolution into a hog molly
He’s never once mentioned missing the chance to get sacks or lamented what he could’ve been as a defensive lineman
but the running backs do,” Wehr said with a chuckle at the Big Sky Kickoff media event in Spokane last July
“I like the anonymous concept and it was a fresh start from the D line
And that’s kind of just what I needed
Switching to the offensive line helped unlock Wehr’s pro potential
Being unselfish enough to move to offensive guard as a senior after earning first-team All-American honors at right tackle as a junior perhaps turned Wehr into a sure-fire draft prospect
As good as Wehr is at playing power tackle — and he’s great
grading out as the highest ranked offensive tackle in college football
a “mean and ornery demeanor” – all are the exact characteristics that an NFL team looks for in an interior offensive lineman
knowing he was going to be the right tackle
he also knew he had to be the backup right guard,” said former MSU offensive line coach Al Johnson last semester
“He had to play last year at right guard against NDSU and then we had some injuries
he worked through it and mastered the details and became the best in the country
and he has a really great first and second step
Then you add that strength and that quickness and he’s dominant
He never takes it easy on any of his opponents
He wants to be great and he holds himself to a very high standard
All of that might help him get his name called early on Saturday during the 4th or 5th round of the NFL Draft
Most prognosticators project Wehr to go somewhere between the 5th and 7th rounds
he will certainly land an undrafted free agent contract
The certainty in that statement comes from the film Wehr has produced
the personal dedication he’s displayed and the way he tested a few weeks ago on Montana State’s Pro Day
After pounding out 29 reps at 225 pounds on the bench press
ripping off a 34.5 inch vertical and broad jumping 9-foot-6
Wehr solidified himself alongside Sac State offensive lineman Jackson Slater as the top NFL prospect in the Big Sky Conference
Marcus Wehr goes 9-foot-6 in the broad jump, which would’ve been the second best among OL at the NFLCombine #BigSkyFB #MSUBobcatsFB pic.twitter.com/BQFrvNQf43
“He’s always been explosive,” MSU strength and conditioning coach Sean Herrin said after MSU’s Pro Day
He’s impressive and I knew he was going to test well
but he really impressed me and surprised me a little bit.”
Regardless of where Wehr lands this weekend
his ability will help him provide depth to an NFL offensive line and his versatility will make him an alluring prospect with the potential for multiple opportunities
And once he reaches the highest level of football
but I think his remaining growth has to come at the next level when he sees that speed
when he sees how they are coaching the defensive line and what scheme he’s in,” Johnson said
but it will be in the pros with the little things
he has become about as good as you can become until you start going against exclusively guys who are in the NFL.”
Wehr has a well-earned reputation as a player who lets his ability and his production do the talking rather than seeking the spotlight
He turned down an interview request for this story
yet expressed thanks for the request and the support
He himself probably best summed up how he sees it if he does get a shot in the NFL the last interview he did at the Shrine Bowl
“No matter if you’re the first pick in the draft or the last pick
What you do with that really decides your career,” Wehr said a few months ago

— A day after the conclusion of the 2025 NFL Draft
a Montana Grizzly and Montana State Bobcat earned their shot at the next level Sunday
while another Bobcat got his chance at the pros on Monday
Montana offensive lineman Brandon Casey accepted a rookie minicamp invite with the Seattle Seahawks
Casey was a two-time First Team All-Big Sky selection and a 2024 FCS All-American
He was a three-year starter for the Grizzlies in 43 games at right tackle
Casey will reunite former Griz linebacker Patrick O'Connell with the Seahawks
But Casey isn't only Treasure State lineman heading to Seattle
as Montana State offensive lineman Marcus Wehr also accepted a rookie minicamp invite with the Seahawks
The Billings Central product was the Bobcats' first-ever two-time All-American offensive lineman and was a two-time First Team All-Big Sky Selection
After switching from defensive line to offensive line
Wehr also reunites with a former Bobcat in Seattle in safety Ty Okada
MSU punter Brendan Hall accepted a rookie minicamp invite with the Green Bay Packers
Hall was a two-time All-Big Sky Selection as a First Team member in 2023 and a Second Team member in 2024
In his two years in Bozeman after transferring from Southern Methodist University
Hall averaged 45.9 yards per punt with 35 landing inside the 20-yard line and only seven touchbacks
The 6-foot-9 punter had 22 punts of 50 or more yards with his longest of 68 yards in the 2024 home opener against Maine
Hall also handled the kickoff duties with 168 of 199 kicks resulting in touchbacks
although the NFL is wanting to stay away from touchbacks with the new rule of a touchback placing the ball at the 35-yard line
Hall moved on from place-kicking following the 2023 season
He made six of 12 field goals and 38 of 41 extra point attempts
Hall will compete against current Packers punter and UC Davis alum Daniel Whelan
who has been Green Bay's punter for the past two years
Former Montana State offensive lineman Rush Reimer also signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted agent, joining Montana defensive end Hayden Harris
Reimer spent four seasons with the Bobcats before spending his final year at California

native Allison Brown joined a Zoom call Tuesday morning with the belief she was participating in a finalist interview for the Chicago Bears Collin Wehr Scholarship — an annual program that provides financial assistance to young cancer survivors or the siblings of children who lost their battle with pediatric cancer
The scholarship — now in its 11th year — honors Wehr
Wehr became a member of the Bears family in 2011 when he fulfilled his wish of being a NFL Network reporter and reporting live from Halas Hall alongside former receiver Tom Waddle
After answering a couple questions from the scholarship selection committee that includes Wehr's parents Ray and Joan, Brown received a question from honorary committee member and Bears nickel back Kyler Gordon
Gordon wanted to know how the scholarship would impact her future and help achieve her goals to earn a degree in public health and become a nutritionist
After Brown discussed the costs of college combined with the costs of follow-up MRIs and appointments that occur every two to three months
"It's a good thing you don't have to wonder about that anymore
because you're this year's scholarship recipient
"You're going to get the scholarship and God bless you
Receiving the 2025 Collin Wehr Scholarship came as a complete shock to Brown
with the surprise drawing up emotions not only for her
"I expected there to be several applicants
I just need to share my story and talking to these people would be incredible,'" Brown shared after the surprise
I totally wasn't expecting to get it honestly
I was in shock for the first couple seconds and still am honestly
Brown was diagnosed with Undifferentiated Pleomorphic Sarcoma
in 2024 when she discovered a tumor on her leg
a routine MRI detected a tumor in her left temporal lobe
which required another procedure — one she had just a week before leaving for college in Lynchburg
Brown noted that her diagnosis brought up some difficult emotions for her entire family
as her older brother Joshua passed away due to brain cancer in 2013
Experiencing that loss as a 6-year-old girl and enduring her own cancer diagnosis gave Brown a different perspective on life
"It really made me realize how important it is to just cherish your relationships and cherish every moment because you don't know how long you'll have with that person," Brown shared
"You never know what the diagnosis will be or the result will be from surgeries or treatments
so really just learning to appreciate every moment of that
creating really great relationships that you'll cherish and make great memories with … just really getting to enjoy every moment."
Brown's family founded Joshua's Great Things
a nonprofit dedicated to funding pediatric brain cancer research and supporting families affected by the disease
The organization has raised nearly $500,000 over the past decade
Brown has become more involved with the foundation
attend meetings with doctors who are working to advance research and more
"Allison's journey reflects incredible resilience and a deep commitment to making a difference," Bears director of community and alumni relations Matt Simeone said
The Collin Wehr Scholarship is about recognizing individuals who embody that spirit
and we are honored to support Allison as she continues to pursue her goals."
Brown hopes her story can benefit other kids or families experiencing the effects of pediatric cancer
Brown also has a goal of impacting people through her public health studies
where she's focused on the role of diet in disease prevention
Feeling the support and encouragement from the Wehr family as well as the Chicago Bears family was an empowering moment for Brown and one she aims to carry through her journey
"It's incredible just knowing there is a community of people who really can support you," Brown said
"I have a great community and my parents are amazing
but so many people don't even really know about it and know that I've had cancer
but also it's nice to know that there is someone out there who cares about you and is fighting for you and knows your story and is able to help you through that

There are other avenues to the NFL for those that aren't drafted
and Montana State's Brody Grebe and Montana's Hayden Harris took advantage Saturday
Grebe and Harris did not hear their names called in the 2025 selection process but have been afforded rookie opportunities
Grebe, from Melstone
received a rookie minicamp invite from the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday and is working on a free agent contract with the team
250-pound Grebe was the 2024 Big Sky Conference defensive MVP and a second-team All-American in 2024
He finished his MSU career with 26.5 quarterback sacks and was a three-time All-America selection
signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Buffalo Bills
Harris transferred to Montana from FBS UCLA after the 2022 season. In two years with the Griz
255-pound Harris totaled 11.5 sacks and 21.5 tackles for loss

Wehr started his career at Montana State as a defensive lineman before making the switch to the offensive line in 2022
That season he started five games before suffering a season-ending injury
Wehr started 11 games at right tackle and one game at right guard
This past season Wehr started all 16 games at right guard for Montana State
you could argue Wehr is MSU's most important offensive player,” Victor Flores
“He's one of the best offensive linemen in the FCS
based on his accolades (All-America first team
unanimous All-Big Sky Conference first team) and the way coaches rave about him
He spearheads an offensive line that routinely opens gaping holes in MSU's outside zone scheme and gives Mellott lots of time to throw
He routinely drives defensive linemen several yards off the line of scrimmage
I can't recall a mistake he's made or an instance when he got beat.”
Wehr’s greatest strength is his ability to operate out in space
He’s excellent on the move and always hits his landmarks when climbing to the second level
He plays with a bit of a mean streak as a run blocker and can overwhelm defenders with his brute strength
Wehr is a student of the game and understands the geometry of blocking
“His ability to move defenders,” Flores said
so he's able to block interior defensive linemen with ease
He's also athletic and agile enough to consistently handle defensive ends and linebackers.”
Since making the move to the offensive side of the ball in 2022
Wehr has given up zero sacks and just eight pressures
This season as he settled into his new home at right guard
Wehr gave up zero sacks and four pressures
Wehr’s freakish athleticism was highlighted by Bruce Feldman in his annual Freaks list prior to the 2024-2025 college football season
If he gets an invite to the NFL Scouting Combine he could end up being one of the top testers among offensive linemen
“He's possessed top-tier strength from an early age
thanks in large part to working in his father's tire shop,” Flores said
“It took until his sophomore year of college to approach 300 pounds
so he couldn't get by on strength and size alone
His speed and intelligence allowed him to star in high school and get his foot in the door at MSU
and those traits allowed him to become a complete lineman once he put the weight on.”
Fit with the PackersThe state of Green Bay’s offensive line is in good shape
They could be losing starting center Josh Myers to free agency this offseason and they may already have his replacement on the roster if they slide Elgton Jenkins to center or even give Jacob Monk a crack at earning his stripes
the Packers will likely be in the market for an offensive lineman as they look to bolster the depth up front
“Because 'he's mean and ornery,' as MSU head coach Brent Vigen described him,” Flores said
athleticism and intelligence certainly seem NFL caliber
He's one of the most intense players I've ever covered
and he's been on a mission to prove internal and external doubts wrong throughout his career.”
What Green Bay’s starting offensive line looks like in 2025 is pretty easy to picture
What it looks like when the 2026 season kicks off is a little more difficult to see
Rasheed Walker and Sean Rhyan will all be playing on the final year of their rookie contracts when the 2025 season starts
Will they all get second contracts from the Packers
With all the potential moving parts in the future
a player like Wehr could sit for a year and provide depth at multiple positions before potentially earning a starting role at right guard and potentially even get a look at center
BILLINGS — Montana State offensive lineman Marcus Wehr began to blossom at Saint Francis Catholic School before helping Billings Central to the Class A state football championship as a senior in 2018
But Wehr's peers have long known that he's been a different kind of beast
"The first football memory I have of Marcus was a tackling drill where it was old-school
They lined us both up and you ran straight at each other and hit each other," former Carroll College running back and Billings Central teammate Duncan Kraft told MTN Sports
I was actually bigger than him at the time
but he still hit so hard that he flat-backed me
Wehr spent time at MSU on the defensive side of the ball before moving to — and flourishing along — the offensive line
300-pound Wehr has played right guard this season after transitioning from his previous position of right tackle
Wehr is considered one of the top offensive players in both the Big Sky Conference and the Division I FCS level
His former high school teammates remember Wehr beginning to separate himself from the pack in high school when his habits weren't that of a normal teenager
"A lot of guys loved football and they lifted hard and worked hard at practice
but Marcus watched film a lot more than most everybody else
which is really rare for a high school dude," Kraft said
She'd always talk about how she would have to cook like four or five steaks a day and he'd be eating that," ex-Montana Tech hooper and former Central teammate Sam Gray said
let alone continuing to work out and all this extra stuff?' The eating was definitely very impressive
He'd be eating your typical peanut butter and jelly between class periods."
a right guard and now a two-time All-American with the Bobcats
isn't likely to be finished with his football career following the FCS national championship game against North Dakota State on Jan
He has accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Bowl in Arlington
His long list of accomplishments is no surprise to those who grew up with him
It was very admirable and it's something you can apply to football or your everyday life and your job," Gray said
Wehr hopes he adds national champion to that resume next week
MARSHFIELD − Michelle and Kenneth Wehr's "team" has just hit a triple home run for the holidays
All three of their triplet sons, who have become lance corporals in the U.S. Marine Corps
are together again at home in Marshfield with their mom and dad
"I have been crossing my fingers that all three would come home at the same time," Michelle said
it was very hard to see them "separated for so long and not seeing each other."
They are reportedly only the second set of triplets in Marine Corps history to go to boot camp basic training together
What each of the Wehr triplets are doing in the MarinesOver the past year and a half
chose different kinds of military schooling to pursue
Matthew chose the meteorological and oceanography program
a service that analyzes and predicts weather and ocean conditions to support the Marine Corps' operations
He was in Mississippi and now is stationed in North Carolina
has been a standout in his platoon and may be deployed in the near future
Griffin is stationed in Hawaii and training in the field of artillery
16; Connor arrived this past Sunday and late Monday night
Tuesday catching up with friends who dropped by
with "lots of laughs and hugs," Michelle said.
the whole family and a couple of friends headed to New Hampshire to ski and go snowboarding
the brothers had done most everything together and been inseparable
the last time they all saw each other was a year ago in North Carolina
when their parents drove down to be with them
the brothers drew national headlines after they all decided to enlist in the Marines
"This came as a total surprise," Michelle said at that time
The triplets were born prematurely at Tufts New England Medical Center on Sept
Michelle and Kenneth Wehr brought them each home at different times with help from family and friends
find their own wayMichelle Wehr has missed them greatly but also been proud as she watched them mature in the Marine Corps over the past year and a half
"They have made lots of friends who they call their brothers
being far from home and cut off from all communications
Now they are always taking care of someone
A holiday being spent 'making special memories'"I think they are adjusting really well
It is such a beautiful feeling seeing them together again
This Christmas will be one to cherish as we never know what the military may have in store for them in the future."
The holiday is being spent with family and a few close friends
a few gifts and "making some special memories."
She sends regular care packages with food and personal items
she was also busy sending flight tickets and boarding passes
If the Wehr brothers were not the first triplets to go through boot camp together and graduate from the 105-year-old Parris Island
reported that the DeLancey triplets of West Leechburg
Mark and Ed − graduated together and were believed to be the first triplets to do so from Parris Island

A federal appeals court has ruled that Phoenix Insurance Company wrongfully denied its duty to defend Wehr Constructors
in a dispute stemming from mold and construction defects at a Kentucky hospital
The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals issued its decision on April 18
reversing a lower court’s finding that the commercial general liability (CGL) policy held by Wehr did not apply
The ruling breathes new life into Wehr’s claim for defense costs and highlights the continuing uncertainty in Kentucky law over insurance coverage for construction-related property damage
The case centers on a failed construction project at St
Wehr had been hired in 2016 to build a new Medical Services Pavilion attached to the main hospital facility
and serious defects that allegedly led to mold spreading through the building
asked Phoenix and two other insurers to provide a defense
arguing that it only had to defend lawsuits where the contractor was directly sued
It also argued that construction defects aren’t covered because they don’t qualify as “accidents” under the policy
Judge Ronald Lee Gilman found that even if Wehr wasn’t sued directly
and any resulting liability could still flow back to it
requires insurers to step in when there’s even a possibility that damages might fall under the policy
The judges also addressed whether the kind of property damage alleged - mold and condensation affecting parts of the hospital not touched by the new construction - might be covered
The court found that while Kentucky’s high court has not fully adopted what’s known as the “general rule” (that damage to property outside the scope of faulty work may be covered)
the allegations at least opened the door to that possibility
was sufficient to activate Phoenix’s defense obligations
The decision didn’t go as well for Wehr when it came to its professional liability policy from St
That policy only applied if Wehr had specifically agreed to act as a construction manager - a distinct role from general contractor
Because Wehr had not taken on that designation in its agreement with St
the court upheld the insurer’s refusal to provide a defense
Travelers Property Casualty Company of America
issued an umbrella policy that largely followed Phoenix’s
While the district court suggested that it too had no duty to defend
Given its different position as an excess carrier
the panel sent the issue back to the lower court for further review
the broader implications are significant for both insurers and policyholders in the construction industry
The ruling underscores how even an indirect role in litigation can activate an insurer’s duty to defend - especially when large performance bond liabilities are in play
we hope to scout and create profiles for as many prospects as possible
and what they can bring to an NFL franchise
These players could be potential top-10 picks
a scouting report on Montana State OL Marcus Wehr
Wehr will need to play guard (or even center) at the next level and Big Sky tape isn’t the easiest to find
all of these clips will be focused on his 2024 play at right guard
but he still has the effort and the upper-body strength to be able to drive defenders out of holes
He keeps his legs driving and his first step off the line of scrimmage usually wins him the initial contact
Although Wehr’s overall athletic ability is lacking
he does a pretty nice job fitting into blocks at the second level
He seems to have a natural feel for the angles to take and how to engage with smaller
His latch strength helps him keep defenders in the phone booth where he has the best chance of winning
His use of hands and grip are critical to his success
Wehr does a good job overall of hand fighting and timing his punches
though that will be put to the test at the next level when defensive linemen have 50-plus pounds on him
farm-strong offensive lineman who has plenty of experience and football IQ
Most of his college experience was at tackle
but his guard tape in 2024 wasn’t too bad for his first year at the position
He may need to learn center to have additional versatility to be worth a roster spot early on in his career
His athletic ability and his overall size will hold him back
but there’s enough there to be worth a late-round pick or a priority free agent signing
who ended up going undrafted out of Michigan last year

The NFL Draft takes place April 24-26 this year
The Bears announced Tuesday that applications for the 2025 Collin Wehr Scholarship are now open
a passionate and dedicated Bears fan who bravely battled pediatric cancer until his passing in March 2013
the scholarship offers financial support to pediatric cancer survivors or siblings of children who have lost their fight to pediatric cancer
non-renewable award of $20,000 to help alleviate the financial burden of post-secondary education
books or room and board at an accredited university
community college or vocational technical school
the Bears will send the scholarship directly to the educational institution
How to apply for the Collin Wehr Scholarship:
Since the establishment of the Collin Wehr Scholarship in 2014
the Bears have provided over $200,000 of support
The scholarship honors Collin's courage and the deep connection he formed with the Bears
Collin's first visit to Halas Hall in 2011
where he fulfilled his dream of reporting live for the NFL Network alongside former Bears wide receiver Tom Waddle
marked the beginning of a lasting bond between his family and the team
the Wehr family remains actively involved in promoting the scholarship and working with the Bears to offer hope and encouragement to young cancer survivors and their families as they pursue their educational dreams
All three defensive prospects the Bears selected in the draft possess traits that first-year coordinator Dennis Allen covets in all his players
The Bears spent five of their eight picks in last week's draft on offensive players
First-year offensive coordinator Declan Doyle recently shared his thoughts about those prospects exclusively with ChicagoBears.com
Bears employees Krista Fortman and Pete Spizzirri received prestigious awards Thursday at the team's all-staff quarterly meeting at Halas Hall

BOZEMAN — Montana State offensive lineman Marcus Wehr has been invited — and has accepted — an invitation to play in the 100th East-West Shrine Bowl all-star football game
Wehr's acceptance of the invitation was announced on social media on Friday
The game is perhaps the most prestigious annual postseason college all-star game in the country
Wehr is one of the top offensive players in both the Big Sky Conference and the Division I FCS level
having been named an All-American and a first-team all-league performer in 2024
has so far helped the Bobcats to a 13-0 record and a berth in the quarterfinal round of the FCS playoffs after last week's second-round victory over UT Martin
Wehr and MSU were the outright Big Sky champions in 2024
Other notable FCS players to accept Shrine Bowl invitations include South Dakota State quarterback Mark Gronowski
Sacramento State offensive lineman Jackson Slater

BOZEMAN — Senior captain Marcus Wehr is a pillar for the offensive line at Montana State
he's made a transition from right tackle to right guard
flashing versatility and power in the role
But his leadership by example for the position group might be the most important quality of his game so far this season
as the line has seen movement and new faces getting playing time to start the season to account for injuries
posting nearly 350 yards rushing per game so far this season
"I practiced tackle basically the whole summer
and I feel like we’ve got a good group out there."
"It maybe is the long-term position that does suit him better at the next level for one," Montana State coach Brent Vigen said
It’s different types of guys you’re blocking
it appeared he was absolutely ready for the task."
It’s not just his high skill set that has made the transition work
beyond being talented and strong and all that stuff
as much as any offensive lineman that I can think of that I’ve been around," Vigen said
Vigen noted Wehr went to offensive line coach Al Johnson to prepare for the move
Johnson has been critical in coaching each lineman in the shifts they’ve seen to start their season to account for injuries
"He prepares us well every week," Wehr said about Johnson
"We see a lot of different fronts and a lot of different blitzes
Production hasn’t wavered despite veterans shifting around and younger linemen having to step into key roles
The Bobcats' offense is averaging nearly 530 yards of total offense per game so far this season
then you get to run off the field," Wehr said
referring to Scottre Humphrey's 79-yard touchdown in the first quarter of the team's 41-24 win over the University of Maine on Sept
so it’s been fun," Wehr said about the running backs

BILLINGS — Former Montana State offensive lineman Mike Person knows what it’s like to play in the biggest game on the planet
He also knows what it’s like to fall short
They may never have a better chance to win a title
a Glendive native and Montana State hall of famer
started at right guard for the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV at the end of the 2019 season
as the 49ers squandered a late fourth-quarter lead and fell to the Kansas City Chiefs
Person has some advice for Montana State's players as they prepare to take on North Dakota State in a championship showdown between FCS powers
You're not going to have the same routine necessarily
If everyone is themselves and doesn't try to turn it up to 11
Before becoming a seventh-round draft pick and embarking on a nine-year NFL career with the Seahawks
Person started 35 consecutive games on the offensive line at MSU under coach Rob Ash
and was a member of the Bobcats' 2010 Big Sky title team
His final college game was a second-round playoff contest that year at Bobcat Stadium against — guess who
Person and MSU took a 17-14 lead early in the fourth quarter before the Bison's ground game took over and produced 28 unanswered points for a 42-17 win
That was the first of what will now be six playoff meetings between the programs in the past 15 years
The championship game will be their fifth matchup in the past seven seasons
The Bobcats' postseason record to this point in that stretch against NDSU
MSU and NDSU met for the FCS title in Frisco at the end of the 2021 season
After retiring from the NFL he considered a career in coaching (Person's father Jim was the longtime football coach at Dawson County High School in Glendive) but is now working for a software company
and has watched every game of this 15-0 Bobcat season — save for the first half of their 31-17 semifinal win against South Dakota as the family was traveling to North Dakota for the holidays
especially for me being a former O-lineman
watching how they run the ball," Person said
"Coach (Al) Johnson has those guys up front coached up
I love the pressure packages that (defensive coordinator) Bobby (Daly) brings
It's a team that really reflects the attitude of the state of Montana."
One player Person might feel a special connection to is Bobcats right guard Marcus Wehr
Person and Wehr both played high school football in the Eastern A — Wehr graduated from Billings Central — and both earned All-America honors in college
having played more than one spot on the offensive line
Wehr is garnering NFL Draft buzz and could be on his way to a career at the zenith of professional football
Person said Wehr called him during the offseason for advice on how to navigate his senior year
which has produced for Wehr multiple first-team All-America nods and the fixed eyes of pro scouts
"He comes across as an extremely intelligent kid," Person said of Wehr
"The speed at which he plays — not just him but the entire offensive line — that's something you don't see very often
with how the get to the second level and how they attach to guys."
"It looks like he can change direction pretty fluidly
so that stuff will translate well for the next steps of his career."
Wehr and Montana State's offensive line have cleared a path all year for a ridiculous amount of rushing yards and touchdowns from quarterback Tommy Mellott and running backs Scottre Humphrey
2 in the nation in rushing offense (301.4 ypg) and are tops in scoring offense (41.3 ppg) and rushing TDs (51)
All that's left to do to tie a bow on a perfect season is to dispatch a playoff nemesis in North Dakota State and bring home the program's first national championship in 40 years
Every program there seems like it's flourishing," Person said
"You have to give a lot of credit to (athletic director) Leon Costello and president (Waded) Cruzado
it just takes it up another level when they're playing on a stage like this."
