2025·Ski JumpingTschofenig has achieved seven World Cup wins in 2024/25 to date - ©Reichert/NordicFocusWorld Cup leader Daniel Tschofenig won his second title in as many days with victory at the end of a high-class contest in Willingen (GER) who claimed individual Normal Hill silver at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games delivered a remarkable 152m jump in the second round Tschofenig’s two impressive leaps saw him finish with an overall total of 310.5 points, with Forfang on 305.1, whilst Tschofenig’s team-mate Jan Hoerl (289.5) took third which was in excess of 13,000 strong at the HS147 Mühlenkopfschanze hill in Willingen cheered loudly after Forfang landed his final effort and rival Tschofenig admitted he was “totally” nervous ahead of his jump “I waited a long time (at the top of the hill) as the crowd was wild and they had to change the gate so I was a bit nervous,” stated the Austrian after the contest Tschofenig continued; “I heard up there that the jump was over 50 (150m) so I knew what I had to do was attack as sitting back would not make it (the victory) He now holds a 203 point advantage in the overall World Cup standings ahead of nearest competitor with 2023/24 Crystal Globe winner Stefan Kraft moving above Pius Paschke into third after the German endured another challenging competition start to the season with five wins from the opening seven events Paschke is now without a podium finish since the middle of December He had placed 27th on Saturday and fared even worse on the second day of competition by failing to reach the second round a fait which team-mate Karl Geiger would also suffer Andreas Wellinger and Philipp Raimund would both make it through but neither were able to deliver host nation success on the Mühlenkopfschanze Hill Among those enjoying improved form however was 2023/24 Four Hills Tournament winner Ryoyu Kobayashi whilst Tate Frantz (USA) claimed nine places in round two and matched his best finish of the season with tenth After a fascinating opening round Tschofenig led by 5.6 points from Johann Andre Forfang with Stefan Kraft a further 6.7 points behind meaning a host of athletes were considered having genuine podium potential heading into the decider who topped the qualification rankings ahead of the World Cup events on Saturday and Sunday was unable to build on his second-place finish 24 hours earlier though and would drop four places to finish eighth Maximilian Ortner (AUT) had made a significant move to attain third in the men’s first individual Willingen World Cup contest and he celebrated a job well done after recording 149m Olympic Large Hill Team gold medallist Jan Hoerl was another to rise through the rankings late in contest and he would secure third Team-mate Kraft was the one to drop out of the top-three as Forfang delivered the furthest effort of the competition "I really loved the hill, it’s good for me and I’m really happy with my weekend," said Forfang, who was part of Norway's World Cup Mixed Team winning line-up on Friday "My jumping has been very good and to win on Friday and be second today feels very good "I really hope to keep on fighting for the podiums and victories and hopefully I will get them soon to keep this momentum going into the World Championships, that would be excellent." Tschofenig has learned not only how to win this season though, but consistently perform under pressure. Despite being moved down a gate the Austrian delivered the required distance, by dropping 148m effort, which scored 157.7 to take the title. 6 FebruaryTBC - Start Qualification Women’s LH 7 February09.20 - Competition Start Women’s LH 8 FebruaryTBC - Start Qualification Women’s LH10.00 - Start Qualification Men’s LH14.30 - Competition Start Women's LH17.00 - Competition Start Men’s LH17.00 - Competition Start Mixed Team LH 08.30 - Start Qualification Men’s LH10.00 - Competition Start Men’s LH * All listings are in Eastern Standard Time (EST) and are subject to change. Sundal (left to right) - ©Reichert/NordicFocusNorway’s four-strong Mixed Team line-up delivered a series of masterclass performances to secure a dominant FIS Ski Jumping World Cup Mixed Team victory Eirin Maria Kvandal and Johann Andre Forgang held a commanding lead of 31.3 points after the first round to claim the win with a combined total of 1070.8 from their eight jumps on the HS147 Mühlenkopfschanze hill Anze Lanisek (SLO) achieved the highest-scoring effort of the contest whilst Bjoerseth (NOR) recorded the furthest jump of the day in competition “I’m very happy with the first run,” Bjoerseth told FIS after Norway’s victory everyone showed good jumps and together that was a very good performance.” For those unfamiliar with the format of the mixed team event the contest sees four-strong national line-ups In the first round each athlete will jump once with their scores combined to form an initial overall ranking The top-eight teams progress to the second and final round with their scores added to those first round one to decide the overall standings Germany won the season-opening Mixed Team event in Lillehammer (NOR) It marked the start of what was to be a strong run for the German athletes with Pius Paschke and Katharina Schmid in particular excelling during the opening contests who were fourth in Lillehammer (NOR) at the start of the season were seen as strong team medal contenders in Willingen given the strength they possessed in their line-up Timi Zajc claimed victory last weekend in Oberstdorf whilst Nika Prevc leads the women’s race for the seasonal Crystal Globe title and Anze Lanisek have regularly achieved podium places in recent campaigns who recorded the second furthest jump of the round with 140.5m Slovenia’s bid for honours was soon over after team-mate Zajc was disqualified for a suit violation and despite losing a significant number of points due to Zajc’s score removal the other three athletes still secured enough to place Slovenia in the top-eight and thus ensured all four would return for the second round That extra time from the hill could be crucial when it comes to adapting to changeable conditions during the rest of the World Cup weekend who took the lead through Bjoerseth’s brilliance retained top-spot on the overall rankings table throughout each of the subsequent rounds and in truth there was little movement between other nations in the standings She and Kvandal were particularly impressive who set the hill record of 155.5m last season is also likely to be seeking further podium places over the weekend after placing twice three times in a row during January "It's a great feeling because we have been working hard as a team and we're really happy to have a team that's performing well "This is my favourite hill in the circuit and my jumping has been getting better and better so I have hopes for the competition (on Saturday and Sunday)." Selina Freitag and Andreas Wellinger briefly exchanged positions with Austria All four Austrian athletes will likely be targeting individual successes over the weekend Jacqueline Seifriedsberger and Daniel Tschofenig all producing strong showings in what were often challenging conditions in Willingen Japan will be encouraged by their fourth-place finish with former champions Sara Takanashi and Ryoyu Kobayashi showing improved form ahead of their individual contests on Saturday 11.00 Start Qualification Women’s LH12.00 Competition Start Women’s LH14.30 Start Qualification Men’s LH16.00 Competition Start Men’s LH 14.30 Start Qualification Men’s LH16.00 Competition Start Men’s LH * All listings are in Central European Time (CET) and are subject to change The first ski jumping hill on the Mühlenkopf mountain was built a century ago with the ceremonial opening taking place a year later The large hill expansion took place in 1951 and the venue has twice undergone significant renovations in the years since – 2000 and 2013 Willingen has hosted FIS Ski Jumping World Cup events since the 1994/95 season and after initially appearing on a biennial basis which is part of the German state of Hessen whilst the maximum capacity is 23,500 spectators Last season Jacqueline Seifriedsberger (AUT) and Silje Opseth (NOR) claimed respective victories in the women’s World Cup events Last season Johann Andre Forfang (NOR) and Andreas Wellinger (GER) claimed respective victories in the men’s World Cup events The official hill record was set by Johann Andre Forfang (NOR) during last year’s first World Cup event This website is using a security service to protect itself from online attacks The action you just performed triggered the security solution There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase You can email the site owner to let them know you were blocked Please include what you were doing when this page came up and the Cloudflare Ray ID found at the bottom of this page Vladimir Zografski finished ninth in the qualification round for the 18th stage of the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup in Willingen, Germany. The second men's Ski Jumping World Cup in Willingen starts on Sunday at 16:10. 2021·Ski JumpingPoland's Andrzej Stekala won the first qualification in Willingen on Friday after his teammate Klemens Muranka had just set a new hill record with 153 m a few minutes earlier. This would have been great for the 20000 spectators at the hill this spectacle had to take place without any fans in the stands because spectators were not allowed at the Muehlenkopf-hill in Willingen The headwind conditions allowed for some amazing jumps in today's qualification and with his 150 m jump in the first training round Andrzej Stekala already proved earlier today that he can jump extremely well on the hill in Willingen and that very long jumps are possible in today's conditions Andrzej Stekala could take home the check for the qualification winner for the first time in his career The success of the Pole didn't come as a coincidence the shape of the up-and-comer was getting better and better and the hill in Willingen is a "small flying hill" this suits Stekala very well.World Cup leader Halvor Egner Granerud of Norway (139.5 m) and Germany's Markus Eisenbichler (142 m) came in second and third this afternoon who set a new hill record of 153 m and finished fifth Piotr Zyla (6th) and Dawid Kubacki (7th) provided for a strong team result for Poland Kamil Stoch was 29th.Jan Hoerl was the best Austrian in eighth Gregor Deschwanden was the best of the Swiss team on the very good ninth place Today's winner Andrzej Stekala now leads the Willingen/6 ranking with his 135.9 points The first of two individual competitions of the weekend starts on Saturday at 4 pm CET Results Some parts of Germany are finally allowing their ski areas to open for skiing – although only in some regions and for many it’s now too late in the ski season anyway In Germany the Hessian regional state government is one of the first to allow its ski areas to open and Willingen ski area (pictured this weekend) says it will be opening its slopes on Monday “As the first ski resort of the winter sports arena and one of the first in Germany Willingen prepares  the slopes over the weekend so that they can finally receive the first guests Some slopes carry a thick layer of machine made snow She areas in neighbouring North Rhine-Westphalian hope that their state government will follow this example,” a statement from the area reads Events are from the websites pollstar.com; At the FIS sub-committee meeting, the Norwegian Ski Association submitted a proposal that includes these criteria, but with the possible first Ski Flying event in Vikersund already just a few weeks later in the 2021/22 season. After a long and emotional debate, the committee voted 9 -7 against the proposal of the Norwegians. Especially the arguments safety and calendar planning led to the close vote against Ski Flying events for the women already this upcoming winter. 2021·Ski JumpingHalvor Egner Granerud is currently unbeatable After his two wins last weekend in Willingen the Norwegian also proved that he is the best right now on the first day of the World Cup in Klingenthal Because there were exactly 50 athletes competing the qualification was turned into a prologue and so Granerud claimed the prize money of € 3000.- in the end But it was not only the win in today's prologue with a jump of 141 m and 153.3 points that gave the Norwegian a reason to celebrate in the arena of Klingenthal Granerud has also proven that he is very hard to beat right now in the two training rounds earlier Granerud is the top favorite for the two competitions in Klingenthal The second place surprisingly went to Slovenia's Bor Pavlovcic who did very well in Willingen already with the 4th and 15th place there now has a chance to achieve his first-ever World Cup podium.Dawid Kubacki was the best Pole on a rainy day in Klingenthal in third Markus Eisenbichler was fourth and once again the best of the German team Pius Paschke came in on a good ninth place Norway's Thomas Aasen Markeng finished 38rd today on the hill where he sustained a serious knee injury in a crash over a year ago Everything went according to plan for Markeng today After his very good performances in Willingen Simon Ammann had to be satisfied with the 39th place today The first of two competitions in Klingenthal will start on Saturday at 2:30 pm CET Results Located near the Willingen ski resort in the central state of Hessen the Willingen Skywalk is the longest free-standing pedestrian suspension bridge in the world Your comment has been submitted and will be displayed after being approved by the editorial team. The editorial board reserves the right to edit comments to comply with the Newspaper's content regulations Governing body: Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee granted by the Ministry of Information and Communications on May 10 Editorial information
