Joining workers from all over Europe who are protesting a cost-of-living crisis that is eating up their wages
went on strike today for better pay and improved working conditions
and a third of them have temporary contracts
“We are on strike because Amazon has made a wage adjustment that is far too low,” a ver.di representative told the German press
”Amazon is now paying three percent more without negotiating with the union
In Germany – Amazon’s second biggest market after the United States – workers have been striking a collective agreement, better pay and improved conditions for years. At a strike in Bad Hersfeld this summer, Mechthild Middeke, secretary for the ver.di trade union, said the cost of living is a heavy burden for many employees
“If Amazon makes Prime membership 28% more expensive and justifies this with rising costs
then we have these rising costs too and want compensation for it,” she said
Amazon has resisted ver.di’s calls to sign a collective bargaining agreement
“German Amazon workers are striking again because the company refuses to share its success with the people who have made it so successful,” said Mathias Bolton
Head of UNI Global Union’s Commerce sector
“Its time that Amazon sign a collective agreement that has the decent pay and safe conditions workers deserve
the global labour movement will continue to stand with ver.di—and Amazon workers around the world—to make Amazon pay.”

Bryson DeChambeau played the final four holes of the Porsche European Open in five over par on Sunday at Green Eagle Golf Course in Winsen
losing his lead and handing the title to Richard McEvoy
McEvoy shot 73 and finished 11 under to win by one
DeChambeau led at 11 under with four holes to play
but his second shot on the par-5 15th found the water and led to a bogey
A drive that sailed well right and into a hazard on the par-5 16th led to another bogey
and all of a sudden he was two back of McEvoy
The 24-year-old wasn’t able to turn it around on the final two holes
He missed the green on the par-3 17th but got up and down for par
and on 18 — a par 5 he birdied all week — he hooked his drive left into the water
and after missing a short putt for double he quickly congratulated McEvoy and stormed off the green
You can watch DeChambeau’s final four holes below
Patrick Reed was also in the field and tied for 9th

Kenda is also planning a large-scale expansion of its European development department
This will include modern development laboratories and the latest measuring and testing technology for quality control
Potential new sites with sufficient space are already being considered
“We’re now taking a crucial step towards independence,” says Frits van der Steege

But thanks to our additional staffing and the expansion of our development department
we’re very well positioned as far as the European market is concerned
We’re well aware that products for the European market have to be developed in Europe
It’s vital for us to be right at the heart of the action – this is the only way we can grow and build a lasting
Frits van der Steege concludes: “Our aim is to work closely with one of the major European car manufacturers
in order to go into series production for original equipment – and that’s what we’re laying the foundations for right now.”
