SGP2 star Villads Nagel has completed a move to Danish Speedwayligaen side Grindsted for 2025
joining former Speedway GP winner Kenneth Bjerre
who won the silver medal at the 2022 FIM SGP3 Final in Wroclaw at 250c under-16 level
debuted in the FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship series this season
He was part of Slangerup’s Speedwayligaen-winning side this season and now hopes to bring that magic to Grindsted
Nagel said: “I have chosen to sign with Grindsted for several reasons
among other things that I see really good opportunities to develop myself as a rider in the best way possible in Grindsted.
“The Grindsted team is incredibly professional in their work
I'm looking forward to an exciting season and of course we're aiming for medals for the club
and I hope my points can contribute to it.”
Nagel is joined in their colours by former FIM Speedway World Cup winner Bjerre
who extends his stay with Grindsted into a fifth straight year
It will be his eighth campaign with the club in all
said: “I'm looking forward to another season for Grindsted
I have been riding for the club for a few years now
but I still have the same hunger for the team to go to the finals and fight for medals
It wasn't a hard decision to continue at the club.”

Speedway GP star Mikkel Michelsen bids to make it back-to-back Danish Championships when he defends his crown in Grindsted on Wednesday
The triple Speedway European Championship winner claimed his national title for the first time in 2023 and starts as favourite for Wednesday’s showdown as he bids to head into the FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain – Cardiff on August 17 on a huge high
His Speedway GP rival Leon Madsen does not compete in Grindsted
But Michelsen faces off against the likes of two-time Danish champion Anders Thomsen and 2022 winner Rasmus Jensen
as well as seven-time Danish champion Niels Kristian Iversen and former World Under-21 champion Michael Jepsen Jensen
The field also features the likes of Mads Hansen
plus current SGP2 rider Bastian Pedersen and former SGP2 stars Benjamin Basso and Kevin Juhl Pedersen
Denmark’s Motor Union (DMU) has confirmed that the outcome of Wednesday’s Danish Final will decide which riders represent the country in next season’s FIM Speedway Grand Prix qualifiers for the 2026 series
as well as the 2025 Speedway European Championship qualifiers
It is unclear how many qualification spots will be up for grabs
The number of qualifying riders for each competition will be determined once places in the international rounds are allocated to countries by the FIM and FIM Europe
Danish racer Patrick Hansen is targeting a spot in the Speedway GP and Speedway European Championship qualifiers as he makes his racing return with Speedwayligaen club Grindsted in 2024
Hansen has been confirmed as part of a stellar squad
also featuring the likes of triple world champion Nicki Pedersen
former SGP winner Kenneth Bjerre and Polish stars Przemyslaw Pawlicki and Tobiasz Musielak
Hansen finished third in last season’s Danish Championship but suffered multiple injuries in an horrific crash with Rybnik teammate Patryk Wojdylo in heat three of the club’s 50-40 Polish First Division defeat in Ostrow on August 26
But the 25-year-old is on the road to recovery ahead of the new season and is determined to find his form both with Grindsted and individually
He will compete in Denmark’s national qualifier at Vojens on April 16 as he bids to win places in the Speedway GP and SEC international qualification rounds.
Hansen is keen to return to the shale in better shape than before his 2023 season was derailed and Grindsted saw their title ambitions falter as they missed out on the Super Final
I need to get back on the bike first and foremost
“Success in the Danish European Championship/SGP qualification round
which will be raced in Grindsted on August 7
stand high on my list of individual goals.
and preferably from there win a gold medal
My crash had a huge impact on last year's result
That's why I'm extremely motivated to get back into even better shape.”

DuPont’s Grindsted plant will become virtually carbon dioxide neutral when the plant’s large coal boiler is retrofitted to burn wood chips…
From next year, the DuPont Nutrition & Health plant in Grindsted
will become virtually carbon dioxide neutral when the plant’s large coal boiler is retrofitted to burn wood chips
Madsen said: “To fire with wood chips instead of coal is a huge win for the environment
Not only will we remove 45,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide currently produced using non-renewable energy
but we will also increase the amount of ‘waste’ energy that we sell to the local district heating network.”
which is one of the world’s largest emulsifier plants and also produces other ingredients for the global food industry
corresponds to the heat consumption in a city with about 10,000 residents
DuPont has been investing in energy efficiency as well as strong interaction with the local district heating supplier for many years
providing excess heat to the local district heating network in Grindsted since November 2011
The green transition will bring a further benefit to the 3,600 district heating consumers
DuPont will expand its delivery to cover about half the heat consumption by harvesting the excess heat in the flue gas that is emitted from the wood chip boiler
The Danish Agency Energy has agreed to financially support DuPont in its sustainability energy measures at Grindsted with up to DKK 61 Million
branch director of the energy group in the Confederation of Danish Industries
says the project is a good example of how companies can contribute to the green transition
“We are experiencing an increasing interest from companies to reduce carbon dioxide emissions,” he says
“The project in Grindsted can show other companies that conversion to renewable energy and focusing on sustainability goes hand in hand with commercial interests today.”
DuPont has worked with the project for a few years and expects to start construction in August
so the plant will be operating by the first half of 2017
The project not only improves energy efficiency
it also makes the plant more competitive.Additionally
the shift to renewable energy is a natural extension of increased sustainability in the company’s production at all DuPont Nutrition & Health plants
One of the main products from Grindsted are emulsifiers
which use palm oil as the main raw material
The site has also been leading when it comes to sustainable sourcing of palm oil
and switched to 100% Roundtable on Sustainable Palm oil (RSPO) certified palm oil in 2014/15
Sustainable sourcing of wood chips will also be a strong priority for the Grindsted plant

Polish star Przemyslaw Pawlicki is the latest former Speedway GP rider to take his place at Danish club Grindsted for 2024
The 2017 FIM GP Challenge winner joins triple world champion Nicki Pedersen and Kenneth Bjerre at the club
as well as French international David Bellego
Pawlicki impressed in Grindsted colours in 2023 and is delighted to be back
He told the club’s Facebook page: “I am very happy to be signing again in Grindsted
The plans for the season are to aim as high as possible.”
Grindsted boss Chris Pedersen admits Pawlicki’s ability to win races when it mattered most persuaded him to retain a rider
who will also compete for PGE Ekstraliga newcomers Zielona Gora in Poland and Piraterna in Sweden
He said: “Przemyslaw was naturally a rider we would really like to continue with in Grindsted
he is just super sharp on all types of tracks
and super skilful at closing the matches in the last
“Przemyslaw goes in with a relatively high average for the upcoming season of 1.970
so it has been a small puzzle we've had average limit-wise
but we've come up with some exciting opportunities with the composition of our team for the next season.”
Grindsted has been unveiled as host of the Danish Championship Final on August 7
Speedway GP star Mikkel Michelsen won his first national title at Slangerup last summer and will defend the crown at the new home club of triple Speedway GP world champion and national team manager Nicki Pedersen
It’s the first time in the competition’s long history that the champion will be crowned in Grinsted
Club director Christian Hundebøll said: “We are incredibly happy with the recognition of being awarded the Danish Final
It shows we are on the right track with our ambitions
as well as being a huge pat on the back for the tremendous efforts of our volunteers and our hosting of the Speedwayligaen Semi-Finals this year
“We have ambitions to reach out really widely to many audiences with the event
we hope that our good cooperation with Billund municipality continues with the Danish Final
we will work on ensuring the Danish Final can be streamed just like last year
so that you can also watch at home from your living room.”
Vojens team Sønderjylland Elite Speedway has added Polish rider Marcin Nowak to its squad
while Esbjerg has promoted academy graduate Niklas Holm Jakobsen into its 2024 team
Triple world champion Nicki Pedersen will race on in the 2024 Danish Speedwayligaen after agreeing terms with Grindsted
Pedersen was left stunned after Holsted opted against extending his agreement
despite the Odense-born ace representing them since 2003 – the year he won his first Speedway GP World Championship
suffering a badly broken hip and pelvis in June 2022 and having the demands of coaching the Danish national team
Pedersen shows no signs of slowing down on the track and will also compete for Rzeszow in the Polish First Division
Pedersen wrote: “Have just signed a new contract in Denmark with Grindsted Speedway
I'm looking forward to new challenges with the club and the team in 2024.”
Slangerup has also made a stellar addition to its side after recruiting former world No.2 Patryk Dudek
He teams up with the likes of Speedway GP star Mikkel Michelsen
Polish international Piotr Pawlicki will join older brother Przemyslaw in Grindsted colours in the 2025 Danish Speedwayligaen
Pawlicki has not raced in the league since he competed for Esbjerg in 2015 and can’t wait to test himself on Danish shale once again
He told Grindsted’s Facebook page: “I’m happy to be back in the Danish league and excited to be racing for Grindsted.
“A big influence on my decision to return to the Danish league was the fact that my brother is also riding here.
I haven’t raced on Danish tracks for a long time
“My goal is to score the best possible points for Grindsted and help the team go as far as we can in the league
aiming for the play-offs and the finals.
I always give my best effort for the team and strive to perform at the highest level
That’s definitely my goal for the upcoming season.”
The Pawlicki brothers join forces with the likes of former Speedway GP star Kenneth Bjerre
2024 SGP2 riders Mathias Pollestad and Villads Nagel and Robert Chmiel

Slovenian star Matej Zagar is targeting Super Final qualification after signing for Grindsted in the Danish Speedwayligaen
The former world No.5 admits he endured a difficult 2023 season but is determined to turn things around with a club that has already recruited the likes of triple Speedway GP world champion Nicki Pedersen
The Ljubljana-born racer told the club’s Facebook page: “Last year could have been much better but we can’t change the past
I had a rough season with some machine issues.
“I'm preparing strongly for the new season
The goal is Grindsted to go to the finals and be there all the way.”
It is unclear where Zagar will race in Poland
although he has signed a Warsaw contract with Lublin – a contract that does not commit him to that club
but opens the door to him signing for another team at a later stage
