and installed the biogas upgrading solution to a new biogas 17 tons per day liquefaction plant in Hjørring
The contract was awarded to Wärtsilä in 2022
and the official start-up took place in June 2023
The facility is one of two biogas plants owned and operated by GrønGas A/S in Denmark. The other plant, located in Vrå, also features a Wärtsilä biogas upgrading solution
The plant in Hjørring has an annual production capacity of more than 6,200 tons of bioLNG
Denmark is a world leader in biomethane development
and these plants are seen as being an important element in securing the country's green energy future
The Wärtsilä Mixed Refrigerant (MR) liquefaction unit alone has an exceptionally low power consumption of <0.75 kWh per kilogram of bioLNG liquified
in combination with Wärtsilä’s Puregas CA technology for biogas upgrading & polishing
with a total methane loss of less than 0.1 percent
The Puregas CA at Hjørring is equipped with the patented VAC (vacuum) option that offers greater flexibility in delivering heat to the upgrader
heat sources down to a temperature of 95 degrees C are possible to use
The Hjørring plant transforms manure-based biogas into bioLNG
representing annual CO2 savings of approximately 41,000 tons when replacing natural gas
“Biogas is a renewable energy source that can be stored
and it is of great significance as Denmark seeks to combat the effects of climate change
The trust and efficiency of the Wärtsilä solutions selected for our two sites is central to these efforts,” says Allan K
“We at Wärtsilä are proud to contribute to a decarbonised future
and we congratulate GrønGas on the opening of this important new plant
Their plants are doing a great job in reducing greenhouse gas emissions
Our biogas solutions are designed to take advantage of energy integration
which optimises their performance and minimises the overall energy costs,” says Goran Gajski
The full Wärtsilä scope for the Hjørring installation includes the Puregas CA biogas upgrading and polishing unit
the Liquefaction unit based on Mixed Refrigerant technology

The New Jersey native is hoping to expand her horizons through overseas play.
Imagine being waived from your team just days before preseason. Now, imagine finding yourself a new team all on your own without the help of an agent. This was the situation in which former NJ/NY Gotham FC defender Kelly Ann Livingstone found herself earlier this year.
“I always received great feedback from my coaches and Yael [Averbuch West]. We still have a really good relationship, but it didn’t work out because there’s a new coach coming in and he wanted some extra space on the roster,” Livingstone told The Equalizer. “I was one of those players that maybe he was going to take and maybe he wasn’t, but ultimately it panned out for me to get experience abroad before I come back to the NWSL which is also something I wanted.”
Now, Livingstone is headed over to Denmark to join Fortuna Hjørring of the Kvindeliga.
“Denmark was one of the top places that I wanted to play in Europe,” she explained. “A friend of mine from [my college team] Georgetown who played on a different team in the league had a contact who was looking for a center back. So I reached out on a whim, and they wanted me! I have an agent, but at the time I was between agents, so I thought, let me just do this myself!”

NYON, Switzerland (AP) — Four-time defending champion Lyon has been drawn to play Fortuna Hjørring in the round of 16 of the Women’s Champions League.
Before Lyon became one of the most dominant teams in international club soccer, Fortuna Hjørring was the beaten finalist in the 2003 edition of UEFA’s continental championship.
Now the independent women’s club from Denmark has a daunting task against a star-packed Lyon team led by Norwegian forward Ada Hegerberg, France defender Wendie Renard and England right back Lucy Bronze, the UEFA best player in Europe.
“It’s a difficult draw,” said Fortuna manager Peter Enevoldsen, who aimed to flip the order of games to play the first leg in Denmark. “It’s good for the people to come and watch the best team in Europe.”
In order pairings made Monday, it was Manchester City vs. Atlético Madrid; Barcelona vs. Minsk; and Wolfsburg vs. Twente.
First-leg games will be played Oct. 16-17, and return games on Oct. 30-31.
The Women’s Champions League is played as a knockout bracket from the round of 32, though a 16-team group-stage format is being proposed for future seasons.
Manchester City and Atlético met in the round of 32 last season, with the Spanish club winning 3-1 on aggregate.
“It’s a great game with two teams who have similar styles,” City’s head of women’s football Gavin Makel said. “As a spectacle for fans watching the game, it will be a really high level.”
English champion Arsenal was drawn to play away first against Slavia Prague, and Bayern Munich travels to Kazakhstan first to play BIIK-Kazygurt.
Wolfsburg, the 2013 and ’14 European champion and twice a runner-up since, advanced through the previous round 15-0 on aggregate against newcomer Mitrovica of Kosovo. Lyon ran up a 16-0 aggregate score against Ryazan of Russia.

Four Aussies claimed Domestic Cup trophies over the weekend, with Chelsea and Fortuna Hjørring winning in their respective finals.
Sam Kerr and Hayley Raso found the back of the net, while FC Rosengård and San Diego Wave FC extended their unbeaten streaks.
Kerr looked to be through for the opener, expertly going past City keeper Ellie Roebuck in a one-on-one challenge, however, the offside flag denied the striker's attempt to give Chelsea the lead.
The reigning Women's FA Cup Champions wouldn't have to wait long for the go-ahead goal, Millie Bright's cross-shot finding Kerr at the back post to nod Chelsea into the lead.
Chelsea was only able to hold onto the advantage for just nine minutes, with Lauren Hemp finding the equaliser for Manchester City to send both sides in at 1-1.
Erin Cuthbert took back the lead for Chelsea, with her strike hitting the underside of the crossbar.
Hayley Raso then entered the game for City, looking to claw back an equaliser for Manchester and she did exactly that. Alex Greenwood sent a perfectly weighted ball over the top, which Raso controlled with her chest and muscled her way past the Chelsea defence to put the game back at 2-2 in the 89th minute and send the game to extra time.
Kerr eventually found the match-winner, making a run towards goal with only centre-back Alex Greenwood and keeper Roebuck in her way with Jessie Fleming also joining in attack as an option for the striker.
The Aussie fired her shot just as she made her way into the box, with Greenwood, caught in between cutting down the pass to Fleming and trying to stop Kerr from making a shot, the ball hit the City defender and ricocheted into the back of the net
In Denmark, Clare Wheeler, Angie Beard and Indi-Paige Riley's Fortuna Hjørring also claimed their domestic cup with a 3-1 win over last season's runners up FC Thy-Thisted Q.
Moving over to midweek action in Sweden, Clare Polkinghorne and Katrina Gorry both started for Vittsjö GIK as they faced Kalmar, ending in a 1-0 win for Vittsjö GIK.
Vittsjö's second game of the week saw them host Piteå, with Clara Markstedt sealing a 2-1 win for the hosts as Vittsjö moved into fifth place.
Hammarby was looking for their third win of the season when they took on IF Brommapojkarna. Courtney Nevin made the start and played 76 minutes in Hammarby's 2-0 win. While fellow Aussie Kyra Cooney-Cross is still eagerly awaiting her debut.
Meanwhile, Remy Siemsen's AIK were looking to climb off the bottom of the table when facing Eskilstuna. A 17th-minute winner for the hosts saw AIK face their seventh defeat of the season.
Siemsen went close to equalising in stoppage time, however, is still searching for her first goal with her new side.
Over in Malmö, Teagan Micah and Charli Grant's FC Rosengård were aiming to extend their unbeaten streak to eight and maintain their spot at the top of the table went they host Kristianstads DFF.
Micah started for the home side, with Sofie Bruun Bredgaard opening the scoring for Rosengård in the 36th minute.
Grant replaced goalscorer Bredgaard, to help see out the win. However, Kristianstads' Delaney Baie Pridham found an 88th-minute equaliser to snatch two points off Rosengård.
This draw sees Rosengård move to second on the table.
Moving over to the USA, Chloe Logarzo's Kansas City played out a 2-2 draw with Orlando Pride. Logarzo is still recovering from her ACL injury but is making promising signs of returning for the Current this season.
Alex Chidiac was named on the bench in Racing Louisville's 1-1 draw with Houston Dash, the Aussies still awaits her NWSL debut which could come on Thursday morning against fellow Australian Emily van Egmond.
Meanwhile, Emily van Egmond's San Diego Wave FC extended their winning streak to three to take over first place on the ladder with a 2-1 win over the Chicago Red Stars.
Our last stop takes us to Italy, where Aivi Luik and Ella Mastrantonio's Pomigliano C.F avoided relegation with a 3-1 win over Napoli.

The warm rusty red corten steel facades correspond with its surroundings during the day, whilst the LED backed frosted glass facades illuminate in various colors during the evening; thus, creating an aesthetic link between the town, the front plaza and the theatre building.
© Adam Mørk"It is our ambition that the building will manifest itself as a new living organism in the cityscape," says Founding partner John Foldbjerg Lassen. "It is a building which stands by its cultural significance and which dares to be different without taking focus away from the town's existing qualities."
© Adam MørkThe approach to the building's design has been a pragmatic view of culture as an opportunity and experience for all. Therefore, space has been created for both scheduled and ad hoc events outside at the plaza, inside the foyer and on the grand staircase where visitors can choose to be spectators or even participate in the activities.

Ashley Riefner has travelled from the US to Denmark via Finland while being her own spokesperson
choosing football means betting on yourselfThis article is more than 2 years oldAshley Riefner has travelled from the US to Denmark via Finland while being her own spokesperson
prejudice and low pay are additional hurdles to overcome in order to fulfil that dream
It is a lot of work – and for the players who are not quite good enough to play for their country it is even more difficult to stand out
Ashley Riefner has taken the long – and rarely trodden – path from US university football to the professional game in Denmark
It has not been an easy journey with injuries
having to dip into her savings to pay rent and a long-distance relationship that was in danger of breaking down
But asked the question of whether it has been worth it
there is no question in the 29-year-old’s mind
All she ever wanted to do was to play football
my own advocate along every step of the way
but then I don’t really think it’s supposed to be
I think every step that I’ve taken has totally been the right choice.”
to choose football is to bet on themselves
Riefner started playing at the age of six and has never stopped
Football got her into the University of Richmond and she started to dream about playing professionally
she was not drafted and not picked for the national team
meaning she had to find a different way to join a club
View image in fullscreenA young Ashley Riefner with a football at her feet
Photograph: Ashley Riefner“The path that I took versus what I thought it would look like is so different
Being from the US and not ever being on the national team makes it really hard for people to notice you
Everyone sees Alex Morgan and Carli Lloyd and those kind of players but to make it as someone who doesn’t have a name is a different journey
One of her coaches at University of Richmond
suggested she moved to Finland to join PK-35 Vantaa
Once there she may have played for the Finnish champions and in the Women’s Champions League but she was still living with a host family and having to use her savings to pay rent because she would go months in the off-season without getting paid
I didn’t have an agent so I was figuring out these business and life lessons on my own in a different country.”
In her third season in Finland her pay was reduced and she began working 40 hours a week at a children’s nursery
“They gave me a special schedule so that I could work from 6am until 3pm and then go to training
I actually think I played a good season maybe because I had something to do apart from football
It was kind of my de-stress at that time.”
At this point Riefner was no longer on her own
Having met her teammate Tiia Peltonen at PK-35 they had been together for some time before Riefner moved to HJK in Helsinki and Peltonen to Åland
they were both at Åland before moving to Denmark to play for Nordsjælland
“We pretty much lived in an academy building
and also just being stuck in a room for too long.”
Riefner was excited to finally see what football had in store for her
A former coach had just moved to Fortuna and invited her and Peltonen to the team
where they have been since the beginning of this season
“But I really think this is the biggest classroom you could ever have.”
View image in fullscreenAshley Riefner in action for Fortuna Hjørring
her path – even though a little unconventional for a US player – taught her how to deal with the unexpected
“You really have to love what you do and you have to be tough
It’s really just how you learn from things and respond to them.”

The Champions League is back and with it a fabulous display that has seen Barça put four goals past Danish side Fortuna Hjørring and get one foot into the quarter finals of the competition
and probably should have scored more goals than they actually did had it not been for a fantastic performance from the visiting goalkeeper
things are looking very sweet indeed for the game next Wednesday 10 March at 3.55pm CET
Jennifer Hermoso opened the scoring after just 12 minutes as she headed in a Graham cross at the far post
Six minutes later and the same thing happened
Another cross from Graham and another header from Jennifer Hermoso and that was 2-0
Graham and Jenni could all have stretched the lead
while the Danes tried to conjure something up on the counter
Jennifer Hermoso then completed her hat-trick
with the assist once again being supplied by Graham
Visiting keeper Johansen managed to prevent Barça from running away with it
but even so there was still time for Alexia to send a fine free kick from Melanie into the back of the net to make it four

Tameka Yallop's SK Brann Kvinner begin their UWCL qualifying campaign against Turkish side ALG Spor on Friday morning
looking to progress to the group stage of the UWCL
Yallop's side currently sits in first place in the Toppserien
with one game remaining in the competition.
SK Brann Kvinner v ALG Spor kicks off on Friday morning at 1 am AEST
Fortuna Hjørring v Eintracht Frankfurt
Angela Beard and Clare Wheeler's Fortuna Hjørring make their return to the UWCL
taking on German side Eintracht Frankfurt in the first round of qualifying, who won four titles under their previous name FFC Frankfurt
Fortuna makes their much-anticipated return to the UWCL
after missing out on last season's competition. Hjørring will have a new head coach leading them through the competition
with Martin Møller Kristensen already off to a flying start in the Elitedivisionen
Fortuna Hjørring v Eintracht Frankfurt kicks off on Friday morning at 3 am AEST
Mary Fowler could be set for her UWCL debut next month, after joining Manchester City on a four-year deal. City's time in last season's UWCL was cut short when Real Madrid knocked them out in Round 2
with the Spanish side winning 2-1 on aggregate.
Hayley Raso appeared in City's games against Real Madrid
while Alanna Kennedy did not make her UWCL debut last season with City.
Gareth Taylor's team qualified for this year's UWCL competition following a third-place finish in the WSL and have signed a handful of new signings in the off-season
that will help the Manchester side hopefully progress to the group stage of the UWCL.
Manchester City v Tomiris-Turan kicks off on Friday morning at 5 am AEST.

Engineers have successfully moved a 720t lighthouse in Hjorring
to prevent it from being lost to the Scandinavian country’s eroding coastline
The 120-year-old Rubjerg Knude Fyr lighthouse was slid 70m
Twenty-four iron bars enabled the jacking system to lift the lighthouse before it was placed on to the rails
The move took place along a trench excavated on a flat foundation
The existing foundations for the 23-metre tall lighthouse were reinforced with extra steel and concrete
7m3 of extra concrete was used to strengthen the foundations
a local mason who runs his one-man operation in Hjorring
Danish engineering firm BMS Krangården was brought in to carry out the move
After two and a half years of planning Pedersen admitted that he was very nervous about the move
I have been looking forward to getting started,” Pedersen said ahead of the move
“It is the first time in Danish history that an attempt is made to move a [building] to save it from crashing into the sea.”
He added: “It is a huge task for such a small business as mine
but I am well prepared and I have got the best people for the job.”
Enabling work for the move began in August
with the construction of an access road for transporting equipment to the site
Further excavation work was then carried out to support the rail system before steel beams were positioned
Steel plates and lifting gear was then installed ahead of the move
Pedersen explained that working on the foundations was particularly difficult due to the sandy conditions
The lighthouse itself sits between two sand dunes which have formed in the years since the lighthouse was first put into operation
the dunes grew so high that the lighthouse was abandoned in 1968
as its light was blocked by a dune which emerged in front of it
Since then it has become a tourist attraction
“It is a challenge to work in the sand by the lighthouse
because as soon as a hole is drilled in the lighthouse's foundation
Pedersen explains how his team attached bottle cleaners on to long steel poles in order to clear out holes filled with sand
Work will now continue to clean up the square around the lighthouse
restore the terrain and re-paint the structure which is set to re-open in mid-November

Peter Hjorring leaves court after being sentenced
A former policeman who issued dozens of driver licences in exchange for cash was told by a judge he may have put the community at risk from the drivers he did not test
was yesterday sentenced to 280 hours' community work for his role in the scam
Hjorring told police he had issued three to four untested licences a week over an eight-month period before he was caught in March
told the Waitakere District Court that Hjorring now believed he had issued just eight to 10 licences in total
Hjorring received $50 for each licence issued and police said he pocketed between $4800 and $6400 altogether
Judge Philip Recordon said the exact number of licences might never be known
He could not help but wonder about the people who were driving and should not be
"and the risks they may cause to the community"
Hjorring was based at the AA Express centre in Westgate but employed by a private firm
which runs practical road tests for Land Transport New Zealand
Many people found out about the licences through advertisements in foreign-language newspapers
Hjorring was arrested one day after Land Transport called in police to help with an inquiry into the scam
A Chinese instructor also charged in connection with the inquiry is currently before the courts
Judge Recordon said Hjorring came "very close" to a period of imprisonment
But he was a first offender and had worked with the police inquiry
Detective Sergeant Murray Free said a number of people who received the licences were in the country on student visas
Mr Free said the police investigation covered a period "going back over several years" and the information suggested people at other centres were involved
Land Transport NZ spokesman Andy Knackstedt said Hjorring had issued almost 1000 licences in the job and of those about 100 people had not been tested
LTNZ was in the process of translating and sending letters to those people
"There is no question that there are some people driving around as a result of Mr Hjorring's actions with licences that they haven't earned
"Our focus now is on tracking down those people and making sure they ..
and if they don't pass that test then they're not going to be driving." Mr Knackstedt said it was possible other people were in the scam
but since it was exposed by television current affairs programme Campbell Live
those people had probably "stopped doing it"
He said LTNZ had reviewed its procedures to make it difficult for an individual testing applicant to be matched up with a specific testing officer
meaning officers were switched between locations more often
