St. Louis CITY SC has officially signed forward Simon Becher on a permanent transfer from Danish First Division side AC Horsens, exercising the purchase option included in his original loan agreement. The former Saint Louis University standout is now under contract through the end of the 2026 MLS season, with club options for 2027 and 2028. “Simon has made a positive impact since joining the club last summer, so we’re thrilled to make him a permanent part of St. Louis CITY SC,” said Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel. “He’s a dynamic forward with proven MLS experience, and his time in Europe has added another dimension to his game. For me, this feels like adding another local product to the team, given Simon’s time at Saint Louis University. He already feels a strong connection to the city and our passionate fans.” Becher joined CITY SC on loan last summer and made an immediate impact with his work rate and attacking presence. Last season, Becher scored six goals in 13 games across all competitions, with four of those goals coming in regular season play. Prior to his move to St. Louis, he spent the 2023-24 Danish Superliga season with AC Horsens, scoring three goals in 14 appearances. Originally selected 16th overall by Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft, Becher signed with Whitecaps FC 2 before earning a first-team contract. In 2023, he scored seven goals in 25 appearances across all competitions for the Whitecaps, including setting an MLS record for the fewest minutes needed to net his first four career goals.
