After a one year absence from the Danish Superliga
OB returned to the top flight of football in Denmark on Saturday
Four rounds remain in the Nordic Bet league, but the team from Odense were already so far ahead in the standings that they only needed a draw at Hvidovre to secure their promotion
Thanks to the draw, OB extended their points tally to 59 points and can no longer be caught by number three, AC Horsens
who has 46 points after losing the last two matches
Two sides will secure promotion to the Danish Superliga
FC Fredericia is also in a favorable position in the hunt for promotion with its 53 points for one match less played
and it could easily have gone that way again
Hvidovre dominated proceedings for a long time and took the lead after 36 minutes thanks to a goal from Malte Kiilerich
14 minutes from the end the visitors were cut down to ten men as Jeffrey Papayaw Adjei-Broni made his second bookable offence and this proved costly as OB equalized with ten minutes left from a header by leading goalscorer Luca Kjerrumgaard.
Predicted lineups are available for the match a few days in advance while the actual lineup will be available about an hour ahead of the match
The current head to head record for the teams are B 93 3 win(s)

a woman is in the maternity ward of a hospital in Denmark
I could hear their children and sometimes see their partners in the hallway
each in her own closed world in the fluorescent lights
There was something so lonely and eerie about that image; it was where I got the idea for the story
The days after giving birth are as if you’re living on another plane
The boundaries between individuals become porous—this thing when you give birth and go from being “two in one,” then for some minutes you are one body with two heads
centers on these dizzy hours where all limits between bodies seem to disappear (an almost hallucinatory experience)
and since then I have learned that in my culture (a Protestant
Nordic one) there used to be loads of rituals around childbirth where lots of people
even have drinking games with the new mother
But what I experienced in those days at the hospital was a complete and devastating isolation
somehow this feeling changed into a dreamlike ritual of the women doing something together
the narrator finds other women in the hospital
They band together and find themselves put to work
There seems to be a mixture of unwelcome labor leavened by solidarity here—how were you thinking about those aspects
I can’t say whether it’s a hopeful metaphor
Hvidovre Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in Denmark
There are around seven thousand births a year (that’s around nineteen a day)
There’s this feeling of giving birth inside a giant medicinal beehive
that you are simply supplying more workers to this big labyrinthian building
you can feel like you have this almost frightening task of simply keeping the wheels of some societal machine turning
simply the birthers that keep up—that maintain—the number of people
Being just this face in a mass of reproductive bodies that supply new children
But underneath that there is something else that perhaps has a radical potential; since you’re part of this group
and you’re not really an individual anymore
and all children belong to all the mothers
It’s the same dissolution of boundaries between bodies as in the birthing moment
I became suspicious of the concept of the individual
But there’s the occasional hint of disquiet
How has the experience in the hospital shifted something in the woman
I found the complete annihilation of identity in the moment of giving birth a shattering and transcendent experience
I listened to this podcast the other day where two very smart guys talked about doing some shamanistic ayahuasca sort of ritual
and they had experienced how the world had a violent or dark force
It’s a peek behind the curtain of the whole of civilization
You have a new novel coming out in English in September, “My Work.” How do the themes of “Maintenance
I became obsessed with documenting everything—it became a way to survive those years
if I didn’t sort of galvanize the experience through art
If I had had something to read about this shame when I was ill
such a great taboo about the feelings of mothers
I can’t believe there are not more poems about breast-feeding—this is such great stuff for poems
I wanted desperately to name all these frightening
I wanted to deepen my relationship with art and writing
and this material took me deeper than anything
the novel has been boxed in many times with “books about motherhood,” in a derogatory way
We need as many stories about childbirth as we need about war

Claire Christensen gave birth to her first child in Copenhagen
A stay at Hvidovre Hospital is available to first-time parents
or to those who have a cesarean section or experience complications while giving birth
The postnatal care in Denmark played a large part in Christensen's decision to give birth in Copenhagen
where she has lived with her husband since 2021
Christensen told BI that she met her husband in 2014 after he moved from Denmark to Bradford
for a gap year and ended up living in the same apartment building as Christensen
the couple made plans to leave Bradford for better work opportunities (Christensen works in marketing while her husband is a data engineer)
They were torn between London and Copenhagen but ultimately decided to move to the Danish capital in 2021 because they thought it would be more affordable
They bought a house shortly after relocating
The decision to give birth in Copenhagen was a no-brainer
"I was pretty set because I had heard about how I would be in the hospital here and how it is in England
and I just knew that I would be better off," Christensen said
adding that she wouldn't have wanted to leave the hospital hours after giving birth in England
I was a bit nervous about giving birth in a different country
Christensen said she and her husband spent two nights and three days in a private room
A spokesperson for Hvidovre Hospital told BI that not everyone gets a private room and that some mothers may have to share with another family depending on room availability
Every family who stays at Hvidovre Hospital has access to an on-call nurse
and each room has a bell that they can ring if they need assistance
Each room also has a red alarm bell for situations where urgent help is needed
Christensen said she particularly enjoyed the food
as she could order whatever she wanted from an à la carte menu while staying at the hotel
Guests are offered a range of items for breakfast
but other guests are asked to pay 190 Danish krone
"It got wheeled to you on a cart," Christensen said
In comparison, the average cost of a vaginal birth in the US in 2022 was $27,371 and $35,907.33 for a cesarean section
according to the nonprofit data-gathering organization Fair Health
which manages the "largest database of privately billed health insurance claims," according to its website
The Danish government also gives new parents a "baby box," filled with essentials such as pacifiers, diapers, wipes, blankets, and bathing products, Christensen told BI.

just north of what has been referred to as Silicon Valley since 1971
While the term originally derived from the number of silicon chips produced in that region
today it is a catchall for the technological boom that’s been occurring there for a half-century
the two highways that briefly connect in the Presidio
sharing the ride across the Golden Gate Bridge before again splitting in Marin County
there is very little that reminds you of technology: the Pacific on one side
gorgeous scenery along the winding coastal roads
The region that changed the world with great advancements in technology is arguably one of the most aesthetically beautiful regions in the country
The relationship between technology and nature — Life 1.0 — is longstanding
spending less time using technology so that we can “live life.” Virtual reality has us strapped into headsets; augmented reality is allowing us to superimpose characters and imagery over the actual environment
It’s an incredible paradox: we’re addicted to devices
yet we yearn for a connection with the planet that birthed us
Perhaps nothing is more indicative of this than what’s occurring just outside of Copenhagen. The Danish government is constructing nine artificial islands
in the Baltic Sea just off the coast of Hvidovre to become a new tech hub
With over 33 million square feet of new land
the 10.5 miles of coastline will serve as both wind-powered office buildings and 170 acres of parkland
the government hopes the site will attract 380 companies
www.youtube.com
This said, the head of the Danish chamber of commerce, Brian Mikkelsen, told TV2 television in early January that he believes the new development could become “a sort of European Silicon Valley.”
Unlike businesses that exploit resources that contribute to climate change, Denmark is betting on an eco-friendly future. They plan on constructing Northern Europe’s largest waste-to-energy plant
which would turn their trash into enough fuel to power 25 percent of Copenhagen
This is not the country’s first attempt to reimagine industrial regions becoming environmentally-friendly business and residential models. The Copenhagen Model was initiated 30 years ago and is credited with transforming the city from an area with high unemployment and declining industry into one of the wealthiest in the world
The results of this institutional model have been nothing short of transformative
Thousands of housing units built for market and social purposes in accordance with energy-efficient standards
The project is not without its detractors, however. Fears that this new region will only service the wealthy can create the conditions for further inequality. As of 2016, Copenhagen had 19.4 million square feet of vacant office space; citizens argue that that space should be utilized first
New housing will unlikely be sold at affordable prices for the average citizen
A planned tunnel that would connect to the islands might negatively impact local traffic patterns
Not to romanticize the past — I don’t always fondly recall the Mission of 20 years ago — but I do remember how much easier it was to drive around the Bay
to find parking and eat at an inexpensive taqueria on Valencia
but whereas a decade ago I wouldn’t think twice about jumping in the car for a five-hour drive from Los Angeles
today the notion of a San Francisco getaway is more likely to induce economic anxiety
Which is what concerns the residents of Denmark
Technology brings out the best and worst in us
Applications and hardware that make life more convenient have a tendency of actually benefiting fewer and fewer people
we need better urban models that don’t deplete the environment of its limited resources
An influx of 30,000 jobs due to the creation of these islands can certainly benefit a lot of people
One thing not lacking is aesthetics. The architectural plans of Holmene are stunning
In that department these islands are a win

Catena is acquiring a Danish property in Hvidovre, an investment of 420 million Danish kroner. The seller is Bulk Industrial Real Estate AS, and the tenant is Scan Global Logistics.
The existing tenant Scan Logistics offers transport and logistics solutions globally and has operations in a total of 45 countries. Scan Logistics has an 11-year lease, and the estimated net operating surplus is around 22.3 million Danish kroner.
“We look forward to good cooperation with our tenant Scan Global Logistics, which is a very well-regarded and expanding logistics player, and thanks to the development rights on the property, Catena is additionally able to offer future opportunities to establish a presence in the attractive Copenhagen region,” says Fredrik Renå, who is Regional Manager South and acting Regional Manager Denmark at Catena.
Catena will complete the acquisition during the current month when the contract is signed.

Tanker company CEO says he sold some stock in Hvidovre because he has not lived in Denmark for many years
Hafnia chief executive Mikael Skov has disputed Danish football club Hvidovre’s account of why he sold some of his shares in its holding company.
The BW Group company’s boss has reduced his stake to below 5% from between 10% and 15% in Hvidovre Holding, which controls 100% of the Superliga outfit.
Hvidovre Holding chairman Nicolai Mallet told Danwatch and Ekstra Bladet that Skov was asked to exit due to a Danish probe into shipments of oil from an Indian refinery with links to a sanctioned Russian entity.

Mohammed Fuseini in celebration mood
The Danish government and greater Copenhagen mayors
working with Urban Power architecture and planning
have embarked on an ambitious scheme to create nine new islands off the coast of Copenhagen
The massive land reclamation project will provide new space for leisure and industry use
The project is named Holmene (the Islets) and will be located 10 km (6.2 miles) south of Copenhagen
It's a huge endeavor and the nine islands will be made from surplus soil derived from the region's subway and building projects – some 26 million cubic meters (around 900 million cubic ft) – will be used
The islands will provide around 3 million sq m (roughly 32 million sq ft) of new space
including commercial and industrial areas and a natural landscape for sports and outdoor activities
Green energy is a major focus too and it will boast wind turbines and what Urban Power calls the largest Waste-to-Energy plant in Northern Europe
flood defenses and inaccessible reefs and islets meant for local wildlife will be created
Construction is expected to begin in 2022 and to be completed in 2040
The construction budget is estimated at €425 million (about US$490 million) and the islands will be created one at a time
The first island should be up and running in about six years
"The strategy has several advantages," explains Urban Power's Arne Cermak Nielsen
"It can be developed stepwise without leaving the impression of an unfinished project
Furthermore the islands can be thematically developed
leaving the best conditions for the innovative industry and research within green tech
life science and future yet unknown sectors
The quality of being by the water should not be underestimated
and the shores of the islands and the delta that emerge between them has a unique potential."

FC Midtjylland welcome newly-promoted Hvidovre to the MCH Arena on Friday as the 2023-24 Danish Superliga season gets underway
The three-time champions endured a below-par 2022-23 campaign
while the Old Giants finally ended a lengthy spell outside the top flight
FC Midtjylland dominated Danish football between 2014-15 and 2021-22
claiming three Superliga titles while also finishing as runners-up on three occasions
but the Jutland outfit failed to live up to expectations last term
Midtjylland found themselves in eighth place at the end of the 2022-23 regular season
and they eventually finished seventh after a much-needed managerial change
Former Midtjylland midfielder Thomas Thomasberg took the managerial job in March 2023
having made over 100 appearances for the club between 1999 and 2004
and the 48-year-old swiftly turned things around
Having suffered a solitary defeat in 11 matches at the end of last season – picking up eight wins and two draws in the process – Thomasberg will be determined to pick up where he left off last term
the Wolves suffered a 2-1 friendly defeat to Aalborg BK
who were relegated from the Superliga last season after finishing rock bottom of the table
so Midtjylland will be eager to hit the ground running
Having languished in the second and third tiers of Danish football for many years
Hvidovre are back in the big time thanks to a successful promotion bid last term
After finishing the 2022-23 regular season with a record of 13 wins
the Old Giants clinched the second and final automatic promotion spot
finishing two points inside the top two and nine points shy of Vejle
On top of that, Per Frandsen's men were the highest scorers in the second tier last season
and they also ended the campaign with the second-best defensive record
Hvidovre have won three top-flight titles over the years
while the Wolves achieved their first success in 2015 and their most recent in 2020
It is worth pointing out that Hvidovre's only previous meetings with Midtjylland came during the 1999-00 second-tier campaign
with both sides claiming away victories that season
No player scored more Superliga goals than Gustav Isaksen's 15 last season
and the 22-year-old winger is again expected to play a key role for the Wolves in 2023-24
Uruguayan defensive midfielder Emiliano Martinez will likely operate in the engine room on Friday, while striker Sory Kaba could feature after returning from a successful loan spell at Cardiff City
Marcus Lindberg was the star of the show for the Old Giants last term, bagging 11 goals and seven assists across all competitions, while Fredrik Carlsen notched 10 goals and six assists before moving to Silkeborg
FC Midtjylland possible starting lineup:Lossl; Andersson
Hvidovre possible starting lineup:Djukic; Iljazovski
A baptism of fire is on the cards for newly-promoted Hvidovre
who look set to suffer a heavy defeat on their return to top-flight action
with FC Midtjylland expected to secure a comfortable clean-sheet victory

danish practice schmidt hammer lassen has just shared with us the design of their competition-winning proposal in collaboration with aarhus arkitekterne for the new hospital hvidovre extension
the additional 30,000 m2 of space focuses on the arrival to the hospital through a new embellished entrance at the same level as the parking that begins below ground
garden atria serve as structural and social nodes throughout the building penetrating through to the bottom floor offering access to natural light and ventilation at all levels of the hospital
visitors now arrive by car and make their way up through the structure as an abstracted vertical promenade that gives a more complete understanding of the spaces on a larger scale
the hospital extension is slated for completion in 2019
associate partner at schmidt hammer lassen architects
explains:‘by understanding the building principles of the existing hospital we designed the extension to become a continuation of the existing structure
the architectural idea is to develop the concrete base into a flexible and respectful new interpretation while maintaining the orthogonal geometry
the design of the extension is organic and empathetic

AGF Aarhus will make the trip to the Hvidovre Stadion on Sunday
Which of these teams will go home with all three points
These are our Hvidovre vs AGF predictions and tips:
Things have not gone swimmingly for Hvidovre since they gained promotion to the Superliga; they’ve played two games so far
Per Frandsen’s men also suffered three losses in their last five matches across all competitions
Aarhus are coming off an impressive victory over Club Brugge; and although they’ve had their fair share of struggles lately
the visitors have fared relatively better than Hvidovre
we are leaning towards AGF Aarhus for the victory
In spite of Hvidovre’s recent struggles
they’ve scored their fair share of goals lately
Per Frandsen’s side found the back of the net 11 times in their last eight matches
most of Hvidovre’s recent matches have not been one-sided when it comes to goals; as both teams were on the scoresheet in five of their last seven matches
Considering AGF Aarhus scored in 12 of their last 14 matches
For our last Hvidovre vs AGF Aarhus prediction
let’s take a look at the over/under goals market
We’ve already established that the hosts have scored and conceded goals consistently
it’s no surprise that they’ve been involved in a few high-scoring matches lately
Hvidovre’s last seven matches have seen more than three goals scored per game on average
with five of those matches going above the 2.5 goal mark
we should expect up to three goals in this game
Hvidovre have struggled to find their best form of late; they managed just one win in their last five matches
Per Frandsen’s lads are still on the hunt for their first win of the season; it’ll be interesting to see if they can do so against this AGF Aarhus side
AGF Aarhus have had some mixed results these past couple of months; they’ve won three
drawn three and lost three of their last nine matches
Uwe Rösler’s men are coming off a 1-0 victory over Club Brugge
and they’ll look to string up back-to-back wins for the first time this season
Both managers will be pleased to have a healthy group of players to choose from; as there are no new injured or suspended players ahead of this match
