3-2: El Madrid gana y continúa luchando por la Liga Two firefighters died in Spain this Wednesday afternoon (2 April) and 14 others were injured - one of them seriously and the rest slightly - while fighting a huge fire that broke out in the garage of a building in the Madrid region town of Alcorcón and whose origin seems to be an electric car All the injured firefighters were treated for inhalation of fumes at the scene by the SUMMA112 ambulance service One of them had to be intubated and transferred to Getafe hospital Another resident of the area also required hospital care at Alcorcón hospital According to sources from Emergencias Madrid the fire broke out at around 4pm in a vehicle that was parked in a garage in Calle Lilos in the Las Retamas neighbourhood of this town in the south of Madrid Initial hypotheses suggest that the first of the deceased firefighters was caught in a blast that affected several parked cars This large-scale explosion was allegedly caused by a fire in an electric car which had crashed when its owner was driving it into the garage The second firefighter died from the inhalation of fumes while he was being transferred to the University Hospital of Getafe All the injured and deceased were members of the Alcorcón fire brigade the flames and the intense smoke made it necessary to confine the residents of the building and neighbouring areas to their homes According to some of those responsible for the rescue operation meant that the heat from the original fire could not dissipate so that very high temperatures were reached inside the building as well as making it difficult to extinguish probably caused other parked cars to explode Firefighters from the Madrid region rushed to support their colleagues from Alcorcón Numerous vehicles from 112 Emergencias Madrid were also deployed to the area Members of the municipal authorities as well as representatives of the Madrid region and central government delegate Francisco Martín attended the scene of the incident expressed her "regret" at the death of the two firefighters from Alcorcón while trying to put out a fire that broke out in a garage of a residents' Álvarez appeared before the media this Friday to analyse the match against AD Alcorcón (Sunday It’s vital to get points at our ground They’re a team that were relegated last year We are both in the process of adapting to the league,” said the coach from Jaén after talking about the catastrophe caused by the flooding in the south of Valencia It’s a situation we’ve never experienced before in Spain I’m glad we didn’t play last week and I don’t think there should have been any football in the whole of Spain,” he explains with respect to the tragedy Miguel Álvarez stresses the need to win at home in order to achieve the objectives: “The points at home are very important We have to be strong at home and win here as we have done every year at the Mini Estadi victory will be a question of details.” Those same small details are where the B team are focusing on improving adding the importance of being effective in the penalty area: “Football doesn’t understand justice We are having some difficulties in this area We are working well and we want to improve these small aspects Teams can score easily against us and we’re lacking being clinical in both penalty areas but we need to do more things well.” the Mini Submarine’s head coach was pleased to have recovered some important players: “Requena is now available and has been able to train with us for several weeks It’s likely that Pau Cabanes – who has been with the first team- will also be back with us This makes us more competitive when it comes to the starting XI and also gives us more variants in the second half We’ve just come from a week of hard work with the lads who are trying to take that step forward that we need to adapt to the league.” Nosotros y nuestros socios almacenamos o accedemos a información en un dispositivo The accident caused the battery of the vehicle to catch fire. Jesús A., 34, and Sergio B., 27, died in the fire, while 15 other people suffered intoxication from the smoke. The scope of injuries, including the critical condition of one of the firefighters, required a large medical response operation to be mobilised. The fire started around 3.35pm, when one of the residents on Calle de los Lilos, entered the garage. After passing through the first barrier, the vehicle drove straight into another parked car, before reaching the second security gate. The reason behind this strange turn of events is yet to be determined, but investigators believe that it was due to a mix-up between forward and reverse gear. The car's battery immediately burst into flames, causing a big cloud of black smoke in a matter of seconds. The two occupants of the Porsche managed to get out of the car with the help of neighbours. When the first firefighters arrived at the building, the garage was already engulfed in flames and visibility was zero. Other vehicles in the communal garage had started to explode, resulting in damage to seven cars and one motorbike. Four firefighters entered, but part of the roof and one of the security gates collapsed, cutting off the oxygen supply. Three of the men managed to get out alive. One of them returned to try and save his colleague. Both of them perished inside. One of the two surviving firefighters was evacuated to the burns unit of Hospital de Getafe, where he remains in a critical condition. The fourth member of the fire brigade was injured in the collapse, but his condition is stable. The driver of the Porsche was also slightly injured. Registered office Málaga, Avda. This was the first game since October in which Castilla have faced a direct title rival in the group of four teams who seem to have broken away from the rest A gruelling schedule that month saw a thumping defeat to Alcorcón a draw with Córdoba and a win over Deportivo The team have come on leaps and bounds since then though they did head into this match off the back of three consecutive draws It’s now been a full month since Los Blancos last tasted victory but this draw proved once again that Castilla are in the fight Alcorcón trounced Deportivo only a matter of weeks ago and continue to lead the division and while Castilla may the disappointed to drop points having been ahead followed by Linares Deportivo in sixth the week after there is a feeling that Castilla are treading water during a difficult period in the fixture list Retaining their place in the discussion for promotion should be enough to kick on once this difficult period comes to an end later this month There are few areas of the field where La Fábrica has created such talent in recent years as at left-back Fran García and Miguel Gutiérrez are just three of those players to have come through and ply their Betis beat Deportivo La Coruna 1-0 with a header from Antonio Sanabria after 19 minutes The news that the Madrid municipality of Alcorcón (population 170,000) will be home to Eurovegas put an end to months of speculation concerning the location of the megacomplex of casinos and congress centers run by Sheldon Adelson – first the heated duel between Barcelona and Madrid later the contest among three peripheral cities of Greater Madrid – but sparks other debates having to do with the bidding process for the project (marked by corruption accusations against Adelson) as well as with legalities given that the investment came partly because of the lure of a whole package of fiscal exemptions (the waiving of almost all municipal and regional taxes on gambling seems likely to push through as well as a modification of the anti-tobacco law) Thanks to an initial fund of 2,700 million euros from Adelson a 750 hectare terrain vague (arid area in common language) delimited by highways and adjacent to the Spanish capital will in a matter of five years – 2017 being the year set for opening day – be the setting of the largest hub of casinos and convention centers in Europe which is expected to create employment for as many as 10,000 people will feature four hotels and two casinos in several skyscrapers that and they will be surrounded by the attendant restaurants inevitably in video games such as Tetris There will also be a children’s Zone – with arcade areas suitable for children’s size spokesman of the association that makes this opening possible indicates the following: “our main objective is to turn Alcorcón into a reference in the world of gaming and recover the recreational culture that was lost with the arrival of consoles sharing our passion for the arcade and the video game To recover that gaming culture and reclaim arcades not only as places of leisure but also as spaces for socializing and learning there will also be a small arcade museum with machines that are considered almost like museum pieces such as Missile Command an arcade machine developed by Atari in 1980 The neo-galácticos made fools of themselves; they had been left looking ludicrous after the 4-0 defeat by third-tier Alcorcón The Catalan newspaper Sport called it a "ridículo histórico" while El Mundo Deportivo screamed: "Humiliated." They would say that The response was inevitable: so you should be A poll on Marca's website showed that 85% considered it the greatest "ridículo" ever Madrid are not yet out of the Copa del Rey but even if they turn it around in the second leg in two weeks' time there will be no undoing the damage done to them last night "They still might get through but no one will ever take this dance from us," said the Alcorcón president there's no way Madrid can properly rid themselves of this stain Besides, without the injured Cristiano Ronaldo, few believe they can turn it around. And by then, they may be under new management: Madrid's president, Florentino Pérez is an extremely bad loser and last night Madrid were thrashed by a side from Spain's Second Division B Madrid face Getafe at the weekend and Milan next week It could have been worse, too. Last night's defeat was no fluke. Alcorcón had three shots in the first two minutes, when the final whistle went they were still going forward, and fans responded by recalling Vicente Boluda's ridiculous boast from last year and chanting: "this is a chorreo" Speaking of youth-teamers, let's put this into perspective. Alcorcón's squad cost less than €1m. Madrid's annual budget is €420m. On Monday afternoon, Madrid's squad were handed new cars by the club's sponsor – after driving them about in the (indoor) snow for the press first. They were worth more than €2m. That €2m could keep Alcorcón going for two years. The average Alcorcón player earns €36,000 a season (although one lucky lad can supplement that with his earnings from the pizza shop). That is less than Ronaldo makes in a day. Last night their stadium held 4,000. But only because they'd put some temporary seating in. More to the point, they play in Spain's Second Division B – the third tier, split across four, 20-team regional groups. More akin, in other words, to the Blue Square than La Liga. Put it this way, Real Madrid's youth team play in the same league as Alcorcón. In fact, Madrid's youth team have played them seven times and only ever lost once, 1-0. Two hundred and fifty-four million pounds' worth of summer signings for this? It's a con, screams mad Madridista Tomás Roncero in AS. A galactic con, of course. "The fans," he writes, "are disgusted." Not least because they believe that this is not purely chance, nor an isolated, freak result. Pellegrini has consistently turned to the goalscoring stats to defend himself but they have not scored in their last two games. He has insisted that Madrid are a team in construction, that they must be patient. But Madrid don't have the time. Pérez certainly doesn't – for £254m he wants results yesterday. Barça B have drawn 1-1 in a tight game away to Alcorcón in which Aleñá became the first player to score a goal this season against the home side. It was end-to-end from the start, with Fali and Arnáiz getting the first two real chances for the Catalans. But the home side were just as dangerous, and David Navarro and Álvaro Peña could both have scored before the break. However, the sides were still deadlocked at half-time. The restart brought more of the same, with constant attacks from both teams but two solid defences and some rock-steady goalkeeping ensuring that it remained goalless. Varo produced a fine intervention to deny Jonathan Pereira in a one-on-one, but he was finally beaten when the same Periera provided a cross for Álvaro to head home and give Alcorcón the lead. Barça B never let their heads drop and their persistence paid dividends. Shortly after ‘Choco’ Lozano had come frustratingly close when he broke free on goal, Aleñá capped a wonderful solo run with two minutes to go by converting from an angle. A draw was no less than the reserves deserved, stretching their unbeaten run to three games and holding onto a place in the top half of the table after five games. Next up it’s mid-table Lugo at the Miniestadi on Monday 25 September at 8.30pm CET. You don't have permission to access the page you requested. Barça B stormed to 4-1 victory against Alcorcón in a game where Adama stood head and shoulders above the rest with one goal and three assists. Dongou, Kaptoum and Cámara all converted Adama passes to contribute to the team’s first win in four matches. Right from the start there was the suggestion that Barça were going to get goals in this game and also that Adama would be playing a starring role. Two early runs of his down the right failed to find a converter, while at the other end, Patric produced a fine intervention to deny David Rodríguez. But after 13 minutes, the home side opened the scoring following another dazzling run from Adama, with Dongou firing home the cross with power and determination. Barça B didn’t stop there. Adama won the ball in his own half and managed to take it all the way into the opposing area before laying up for Kaptoum to score in his first ever game in the Mini. Barça were all over Alcorcon, and Adama was on fire, capping off a tremendous half with a goal of his own to make it 3-0. Alcorcón managed to pull one back before the break when Máyor headed past Ortolá, and there was still time for Dongou to come frustratingly close to netting his second of the night, but Javi Jiménez produced a fine save. Alcorcón needed to score more than Barça, and the second half saw constant pressure from the visitors that was held back by some impressively solid defending. Barça B slowly regained control of the match, and sentenced the tie when Adama made yet another of his runs, this time delivering a pass to Cámara, who fired home from an angle to make it 4-1. It was a fine evening’s football for Barça B, and Eusebio will be looking for more of the same next week against Tenerife at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López. The first humiliation of Real Madrid's second galactic age arrived in the Copa del Rey last night when Manuel Pellegrini's side were hammered 4-0 by Alcorcón from Spain's regional Second Division B Even a second-leg turn around at the Bernabéu will not undo the damage done to a club that spent €254m (£229m) in the summer During his first spell as president Florentino Pérez went through six coaches in three years and with the pressure having already built after a series of disappointing displays Pellegrini will be concerned for his future We were focused and the training sessions were very good but Alcorcón played very well," Pellegrini told Marca after the game "We hope our fans can forgive us after this defeat." Madrid did not even have the excuse of having put out a starting XI made up of youth-teamers Although Iker Casillas was replaced in goal by Jerzy Dudek Cristiano Ronaldo was injured and Kaká and Xabi Alonso were left out there was a place in the side for the club's other galáctico Not one youth team player was included as Madrid travelled to the Municipal de Santo Domingo stadium just south of the capital where temporary seating had raised the capacity from 3,000 to 4,000 "It is our goal to win every competition." Pellegrini had insisted before the match That will take a huge second-leg victory now Alcorcón had fired three warnings in the opening three minutes alone and were 3-0 up before half-time thanks to goals from Borja Pérez and Ernesto Gómez and an own goal from former Liverpool full-back Alvaro Arbeloa It was 4-0 eight minutes into the second half and Madrid were grateful the scoreline was not even more embarrassing: the home side hit the post and wasted a series of chances while Dudek was Madrid's outstanding performer "Our opponents...we've seen it 3,200 times before," Pelligrini said "A team who were tremendously motivated and were able to play at their best We are going to find difficult opponents all over the place I am not thinking about my job or about resigning
