According to the police, officers have recovered "a multitude of stolen goods". An increase in the number of arrests is expected, as the Guardia Civil has not yet released its data. On Thursday, a court in Torrent (Valencia) sent to prison four detainees for looting a shopping centre. Among the items that were stolen were bottles of water or food, but also clothes, shoes and hundreds of luxury items. In fact, the images that went viral on social media enabled the police to make the arrests. In one of them, a group of people could be seen opening the shutters of a shop to take whatever they could. The security services have been obliged to withdraw personnel from the work of rescuing the victims to patrol the areas where they are located in order to prevent the thefts from continuing. The main target of these thieves are objects of high economic value that are not very bulky, such as computers, mobile phones or brand-name perfumes, according to officers assigned to prevent them. A head of the Guardia Civil in Valencia, Jesús Díaz, confirmed that "criminals are entering any premises, any house or place from which they can steal something". Díaz said that there is no specific profile of criminals, but organised gangs may be operating in the towns most devastated by the storm. The poice force had foreseen this type of crime from the outset "because this is what tends to happen in these situations, so part of our operational plan is aimed at preventing looting". "There is no specific profile, there may be organised gangs that take advantage of the circumstances or the conventional thief who sees the opportunity and takes advantage of it," he said. The measures will be in effect in nine counties in the Terres de l'Ebre, Camp de Tarragona, and Penedès regions. Mobility will be restricted from midnight and throughout the day on Monday due to the warning of heavy rain in the next few hours, as announced by interior minister Núria Parlon. The counties affected are Baix Ebre, Montsià, Terra Alta, Ribera d'Ebre, Baix Camp, Priorat, Tarragonès, Alt Camp, and Baix Penedès. Civil Protection will send an alert to mobile phones in these areas to inform them of the restrictions. The Meteorological Service of Catalonia has updated its warning of potentially dangerous rains on Sunday.  Rainfall could exceed 20mm in 30 minutes on Sunday and 40mm on Monday in the Terres de l'Ebre, Priorat, and Baix Camp, all in southern Catalonia, bordering with the Valencia region. Rain is also expected, although less intense, in the rest of the Catalan coast. Civil Protection has reported that the rain intensity threshold has not been exceeded and there have been no incidents in Catalonia, although the emergency plan for the risk of flooding remains on alert, and extreme precautions are urged. The Valencian regional president, Carlos Mazón of the right-wing People's Party, announced on Saturday the creation of five crisis response groups, and requested the aid of seven Spanish government ministries. In an institutional appearance more than seven hours later than scheduled, Mazón said that "following the offer of the Spanish Prime Minister and seeing the growing and undeniable needs" in Valencia, groups would be created, under his supervision, on Health, Infrastructures, Services Social and Housing, Work and Business, and Interior. He also asked that emergency funds from the European Union be accelerated as much as possible. The Spanish government has already shown openness to assisting in Mazón's crisis response groups plan.  Teams of divers and kayakers from the Military Emergency Unit have managed to enter the flooded parking lot of the Bonaire shopping center, in the town of Aldaia, where it is feared that there may be several victims trapped by the flood. The army has been working to remove the accumulated water, which has been lowered to a height of 1.5 metres from the initial four. The forecast is that the remaining water can be removed on Sunday, and the first boats and army troops are already working inside, where at least two floors were flooded. The car park has around 5,700 parking spaces including exterior ones, and has an area of more than 2,000 m2. Spain's transport minister, Óscar Puente, also pointed out that there are still many private basements, garages, and negated parking lots that need to be cleared and where there are probably more bodies. In the midst of the devastation caused by the floods, the passing of days has brought to light several health needs that volunteer doctors, nurses and technicians point out. Groups of medical volunteers are walking the streets of devastated towns to offer their services to anyone who needs them. The accumulation of mud and dirt makes mobility almost impossible in many areas, which makes it difficult to get medicine to patients, especially those with chronic diseases. The volunteer health workers are trying to make up for these shortcomings while healing numerous injuries caused by the work of removing waste. They are especially worried, however, about the lack of tetanus vaccines, while at the same time attending to many people who are "collapsed" psychologically "because they do not accept the situation." Estela Hidalgo lives in Torrent, in the region of Valencia, and volunteered as a doctor in the streets of Picanya as soon as the roads opened. She works at the outpatient clinic in this town, and now she has volunteered at all times among the locals who need it. "Above all, we are taking care of those wounded by cuts and blows, while we manage the medication of chronic patients," she tells the Catalan News Agency. communities affected by the devastating DANA in Valencia The drama of the loss of 216 fatalities and 23 missing is so enormous or despair for the material and psychological damage caused in their lives fifteen days after the fury of nature was unleashed the terrifying fear of the damage that the torrential rains that are approaching again on the Valencian coast may cause returns another tsunami in the devastated areas that few talk about On Monday, November 4, the psychiatrist and professor of the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Madrid, Jesús Poveda, contacted Dr. Luisa González, president of the Foundation of the College of Physicians of Madrid (ICOMEM) He informed her that he was organizing a convoy of students and nutritionists from the Autonomous University of Madrid to go to some of the most affected Valencian towns He had even given the mission a name: “University Medical Aid” (AMU) we joined in by activating a new help line for the victims of the DANA we had thirty retired doctors from ICOMEM collaborating in the collection of protective and sanitary hygiene material and an incessant flood of calls from members to see how they could help In the following hours we received generous donations of more than 30,000 units of the requested material from family businesses such as the owners of the Hotel Orfila or the Emergency Coordination of the Madrid City Council as well as many individuals who came to our headquarters The convoy consisted of more than seventy students several cars and vans loaded with sanitary and hygienic protection material a town of 32,000 inhabitants with neighbourhoods devastated by flooding after the overflow of the Saleta ravine coordinator of nurses at one of the health centres in Aldaia destroyed by the DANA organised that we could spend the night in a space set up as a health care point with an innate capacity for mobilisation and leadership She explained to us the needs of the population and the recommendations so that our help would be more effective on Saturday we deployed divided into groups to different places who still needed all hands on deck to pump out a mixture of mud Corral to visit the two points and health centers that they suggested to us in case reinforcement was needed well covered by the teams of local health professionals despite the fact that the clock only marked seven in the evening the meeting point was the Church of the Incarnation of Aldaya When the bells rang announcing the beginning of the Holy Mass those of us who wanted to be gone inside the temple Our surprise was to discover that there was barely room for a pin the joy with which all the parishioners sang at the top of their lungs together with the small choir of teenagers with guitars was an astounding and comforting scene That community seemed proud of its faith and its gleaming church their hope and trust in God were contagious young people and adults rose from adversity supported each other and prayed together for everyone The parish priest proudly recounted that the help of his parishioners had made it possible to celebrate that first day of worship after the flood that had rendered the temple unusable They prayed that they would find the spiritual accompaniment so necessary at this time “helping especially those most in need because we are going to be God’s messengers among our people We are going to be the image of God in the midst of this catastrophe.” Soon the parishioners would again show their unconditional availability: the priest made a request for volunteers to transport the fifty or so students in our convoy who did not have vehicles to the neighbouring town of Loriguilla given that the bus that dropped us off in Aldaia would not return until Sunday to pick us up In less than a minute a small army of faithful appeared offering their services they arrived with their private cars and transported the unwieldy group of students on a health-humanitarian mission The municipal pavilion in Loriguilla welcomed us and the entire municipal corporation welcomed us with open arms and many stories to tell us had lost everything because his house is under the Pozalet ravine had left the town cut off from communication and without water There were people trapped in the trains and in the industrial estate and bridges destroyed A town flooded with water and mud from Utiel Cheste and Chiva that was already recovering The members of the municipal corporation and their volunteers listened gratefully and attentively to the emotional experiences recounted one by the students Suffice it to say the emotional hug that a woman of about forty years old gave to Marta Hullin after the hard day with her group removing water from the garage of her apartment building or Gloria the lady who broke down in tears with the medical student Mercedes Ramírez and gave her a rosary On Sunday, the municipal delegation accompanied by civil protection took us to nearby Alfafar and the already famous Paiporta. They left us in Benetússer where the destruction was terrible. The heat was oppressive under the PPE, gloves and protective material soaked by the effort of pushing through the mud that still covered above the knees in some streets in the center Despite the fact that access to road traffic was closed hordes of volunteers arrived at foot from all sides firefighters and machinery began to join in a continuous hustle and bustle through the streets The roar of trucks and heavy vehicles emitting sounds was constant It seemed like a concert for out-of-tune instruments in the middle of a cloud of dust that made the air unbreathable The gratitude of the population was shocking a woman seeing one of the military delegations said it all: “Thank God you have arrived.” And so much I have been a direct witness and voluntary protagonist of the flow of generosity and dedication of our young students A privileged witness of the immense gratitude of those who receive help But I have also witnessed a much greater torrent that is hardly spoken of: volunteers Living testimony of the ground zero of Love Isabel Durán – Director of the Foundation of the College of Physicians of Madrid (ICOMEM) Autora del 1er libro presentado por un humanoide Comprometida para mejorar el mundo que dejamos a nuestros hijos Sleeping Well for a Better Life: Ideas That Will Make You Rethink Your Nights Tweets by Pontifex Fatalities are still being reported and it's unclear how many people are still missing.Image: CESAR MANSO/AFP/Getty ImagesFighting the mudThere's devastation as far as the eye can see One week after the flood disaster in eastern Spain residents and rescue workers are trying to make roads in the Valencia region usable again and military personnel are still searching for missing people At least 218 people died in the disaster and the death toll is still rising It looks like a scene from a horror movie: In a dark underground car park full of water Spanish civil protection officers check a car on Monday The search for those still missing currently focuses on underground parking lots which can quickly become death traps during floods The search is also continuing above ground a sniffer dog is searching for people trapped under the rubble There is no official figure on how many people are still missing According to Transport Minister Oscar Puente and underground garages that rescue workers have not been able to search yet Volunteers carry buckets of mud on Sunday in the town of Paiporta which was hit particularly hard by the floods In addition to the risk of collapse in many places there is growing concern about pathogens or toxins emanating from the brown sludge Many helpers are therefore wearing protective masks An angry resident speaks to King Felipe during his visit to the devastated region on Sunday get lost,!" some people shouted at the royal couple and Regional President Carlos Mazon; mud and various objects were also thrown in the direction of the visitors Many of those affected feel abandoned by the government and authorities A relieved resident in the disaster area hugs a soldier Many Spaniards are wondering why it took so long for soldiers to help the regional rescue services There is also criticism that the regional government of Valencia only activated the alarm on all cell phones in the region 12 hours after the storms began Police officers push mud off a road in Alfafar received as much rain in just a few hours as they usually do in a year The clean-up work will take weeks while reconstruction is likely to take months Thousands of volunteers are helping to clean up alongside rescue workers The power grid has been almost completely restored;
