Sparkling Royal Jewels From Around the World

The royals in Norway weren’t the only ones celebrating a family wedding on Saturday
members of the royal family were on hand to witness the marriage of a royal great-granddaughter and her beau
King Felipe VI of Spain attended the wedding of his goddaughter
Victoria López-Quesada y Bourbon-Two Sicilies
and Enrique Moreno de la Cova Ybarra on an estate owned by the Duke of Albuquerque
(Queen Letizia was away cheering for Spanish athletes at the Paralympics in Paris.) Infanta Elena’s daughter
as were two of Infanta Cristina’s children
Infante Alfonso would have become King of Spain.) Infante Alfonso married a second cousin
Infante Alfonso and Infanta Alicia had three children
Carlos was a cousin and close friend of King Juan Carlos
The two princes were even roommates at school
At King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia’s wedding in 1962
Infante Carlos struck up a romance with a French princess
whom he’d known since they were children
They were married in France in 1965 and had five children
the mother of the bride at this weekend’s wedding
The two branches of the family have maintained their close ties throughout the years
Victoria was even a bridesmaid at Felipe and Letizia’s wedding in 2004
but the agreements they made fell through.)
who has been wearing a lovely diamond and emerald ring since her engagement
opted for a bridal gown from the Spanish designer Lorenzo Caprile
who also designed her mother’s wedding gown and has made clothes for Queen Letizia
both her diamond tiara and lace veil are family heirlooms borrowed for the day
Meylan tells us that the history of the jewel actually goes back even further. The diamond buttons used to make the tiara belonged to Infanta Alicia’s grandmother, Archduchess Isabelle of Austria, who was born a princess of Croÿ. Isabella also owned a famous suite of peridot jewels
Victoria’s mother, Princess Cristina, wore the diamond button tiara on her wedding day in 1994. For Victoria and Enrique’s wedding this weekend, the tiara was altered slightly. The central diamond button was removed and replaced with a diamond fleur-de-lis, the famous emblem of the House of Bourbon. Meylan tells us that the fleur-de-lis was a wedding gift to the bride from the groom
The antique lace veil that Victoria wore comes from a different part of her family. Royal historian Marlene Koenig shares that the veil was loaned to Victoria for the day by her grandmother
Anne is a descendent of the last Kings of France
is the Orleanist claimant to the French throne
Anne wore the veil when she married Infante Carlos at the Royal Chapel of Dreux in 1965
also wore the veil on each of their wedding days
Princess Anne (on the right in this photo) wore a lovely set of aquamarine jewels
the mother of the bride (on the left) wore green with diamonds
She pinned a brooch in the shape of a royal cypher to her dress
Princess of Asturias?) Between Cristina and Anne is Infanta Elena
who wore a sapphire and diamond necklace that has been in her collection for many years
Update: one of our lovely community members
reached out to let me know that Cristina’s brooch is in the shape of the cypher of Infanta Maria Isabel of Spain (1848-1919)
The jewel was a badge worn by Maria Isabel’s maids of honor
It was later owned by Princess Cristina’s grandmother
The brooch was sold at Christie’s in Paris in 2008
and Cristina is thought to have been the one who acquired it in that sale
And here’s a look at the jewels worn by Queen Sofia
Cristina also pinned a brooch to her white blouse for the ceremony

María Patiño puts Víctor Sandoval against the ropes | Canal Quickie, en.edatv.news LIFESTYLE María Patiño puts Víctor Sandoval against the ropes: 'That's a speech of...'María Patiño's been forced to pause her show to apologize and put Víctor Sandoval on the spot.20/01/2025 21:09:00h by Cristo Fernández
In Ni que fuéramos, there was a moment of great tension. Today's broadcast was marked by a direct confrontation between María Patiño and Víctor Sandoval
The host put Víctor Sandoval on the spot after commenting
"That's a speech from someone whose ground is shaking because they don't want to change it."
It all started when the show's management had to apologize due to an incident that occurred last Friday
a person of Asian descent was brought to the set
and the collaborators referred to him as "Chinese." This caused discomfort among part of the audience
leading the team to address the issue today
María Patiño apologizes live | Canal QuickieMaría Patiño took the floor to address the situation: "There was no bad intention," she explained
her comment wasn't well received by Víctor Sandoval
it's their country," the collaborator replied
in a tone that caused more tension on the set
making her discontent with her colleague's attitude clear
Sandoval continued to defend his point of view: "What are you on about
It would be different if he were Filipino and I called him Chinese."
Víctor Sandoval isn't in agreement with María | Canal QuickieThe tension on the set increased
wanted to focus the debate on what's important
if the show's director pulls my ears when we do something wrong and we can change to do something better
I do it because there were people who felt uncomfortable
"If you don't want to apologize because you don't feel it
That's social hypocrisy and I'm not a hypocrite," he stated with determination
María Patiño faces Víctor Sandoval | Canal QuickieThese words caused María to raise her voice again: "There are no hypocrites here
There are two ways to face things: those who want to learn
who failed to convince the rest of the team or much of the audience with his stance
María Patiño made her commitment to evolution and learning clear
emphasizing the importance of listening to others and being self-critical
reflected two very different ways of addressing mistakes and responding to criticism
The show concluded with a bittersweet taste
but it served to open a debate on cultural sensitivity and the power of words
Ni que fuéramos demonstrated that it is also a space to reflect on issues that matter to today's society
Four sites reportedly valued at up to $400 million
Investment firm Avaio is in talks to potentially sell four plots of land earmarked for data centers
React reports that Avaio Digital is offloading three development sites in the US and one in Madrid
in a deal that could be worth up to $400 million
the company told DCD it is yet to sell off any sites and is currently exploring its options
“We are currently exploring with Newmark a sale of a small number of our sites," an Avaio spokesperson told us
They continued: “We remain very committed to the data center space and have a large portfolio of powered data center sites under development in the US and Europe.”
that the three sites in the US and one site in Spain were the sites being considered for sale
Founded in 2016, Avaio Capital is a US infrastructure investment firm focused on the digital, water, energy transition, and transportation sectors. The company launched Avaio Digital Partners in early 2021 to focus on build-to-suit development and construction of sustainable hyperscale data centers in the Americas and Europe
Avaio said at the time that it had a pipeline of hyperscale projects already under development in the US
and Western Europe representing more than 400MW of capacity
on which it plans to develop a technology park and data center
the company has data center sites under development in Gatineau
Canada; Ruther Glen in Virginia’s Caroline County; Pittsburg

ACCIONA Agua has been awarded a contract to operate and maintain the wastewater plants owned by Canal de Isabel II
in the Jarama Medio and Henares watersheds
which came into force on 1 March 2019 and last almost 5 years
has associated revenues amounting to €33 million
The 15 wastewater plants serve a population equivalent to 1.25 million people and process 80 million cubic metres per year
ACCIONA Agua will operate the following 15 wastewater plants: Alcalá Este
Velilla de San Antonio and Arroyo Quiñones
rated for an equivalent population of 374,090 and processing 21.5 million cubic metres per year
After being upgraded by ACCIONA as part of the National Water Quality Plan
it has a biological treatment process comprising a hybrid suspended sludge moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) to simultaneously eliminate organic matter and nutrients
This type of hybrid (IFAS) reactor was developed by ACCIONA and it has a number of references in Spain and other countries
this plant has had a cogeneration system fired by biogas produced by anaerobic digestion that generates approximately 30% of the plant's energy requirements
This group has a number of wastewater plant references
Velilla de San Antonio and San Agustín de Guadalix
equipped with the most modern continuous control systems for monitoring key parameters in the process of eliminating nutrients (ammonia and nitrate in bioreactors
and orthophosphates in discharged treated water)
The other plants use a variety of water treatment processes and are estimated to treat 28.5 million cubic metres per year in total
ACCIONA will acquire 18 all-electric vehicles to fulfil the contract
It will also monitor all the facilities' electricity consumption with the final goal of cutting it by more than 10%
This new O&M contract strengthens ACCIONA Agua's lead in the Madrid region
It currently operates such emblematic contracts as the Culebro Cuenca Baja and Culebro Cuenca Media Alta wastewater plants
with a rated capacity equivalent to a population of 4 million
The Jarama Medio and Henares watersheds represent the largest group
in terms of both revenues and processing volume
of wastewater plants and sanitation systems of the four lots that Canal de Isabel II Gestión has put out to tender in recent years
This contract strengthens and expands ACCIONA Agua's presence in wastewater treatment in the Madrid region since
with the renewal of the Jarama Medio group
it now manages three of the four groups of outlying wastewater plants
One of three facilities planned in Spanish capital
Microsoft has selected a construction partner for a new data center in Madrid
This week Ferrovial announced that the company
has been selected by Microsoft to carry out the construction of a data center the cloud company plans to launch in Spain
The facility will be constructed in the San Sebastian de los Reyes area of Madrid and will aim for LEED Gold certification
Microsoft first announced plans for a Spanish Azure cloud region in Madrid in early 2020
At the time it said it would will leverage Telefónica infrastructure
while the telco would ‘accelerate its use of Microsoft’s cloud internally’
Ferrovial said it has ‘extensive experience’ in data centers, having built facilities for Telefónica several financial companies
Last year the two companies formed an agreement to co-develop digital solutions for the construction
The agreement would include work to digitize more of Ferrovial’s operations – through Azure
naturally – and find ways to improve the construction efficiency of Microsoft data centers
Cino Dias reports this is the first of three facilities in the Madrid area Microsoft is looking to develop – a standard practice for the company when it is looking to open a new Azure region with multiple availability zones
Facilities are also planned in the towns of Algete and Meco
The size or timelines of the project haven’t been shared
but CD reports Microsoft will be investing hundreds of millions of Euros into the facility
"We continue to advance in the development of our cloud region in Spain (which will be available in the coming months) with the start of the construction of the data centers that will constitute the second phase of this project and that will facilitate the expansion of our region in the medium These new Data Centers will be built in Algete
Both Google and Oracle’s regions were developed in partnership with Telefonica

The Junta de Andalucía's Ministry of Agriculture
Fisheries and Sustainable Development has declared three new cases of avian influenza in the provinces of Huelva and Seville
In Huelva the outbreak has been detected in Niebla on a farm with 32,500 turkeys
In Seville the outbreaks are at a farm with 16,000 birds in Gilena and a farm with 600 free-range poultry in El Viso del Alcor
The total number of outbreaks in Andalucía is now seven
was prompted by a high number of bird deaths between 9 to 11 February
Samples taken by the veterinary services of the Junta de Andalucía were sent to the Central Veterinary Laboratory of Algete
as the National Reference Laboratory for Avian Influenza in Spain
where was confirmed that in all three cases the strain HPAI subtype H5N1 was responsible
The official veterinary services of the Ministry
in coordination with the health authorities and the Ministry of Agriculture
as well as in permanent contact with the sector
are taking the necessary measures to control of the outbreaks
as well as the necessary actions in the established protection and surveillance zones
So far there is no evidence that the H5N1 subtype can infect humans
it is recommended to minimise unnecessary contact with birds showing clinical symptoms or found dead
The virus cannot be transmitted to humans through cooked poultry meat
eggs or processed products derived from them
