translated into Japanese as "Nihongo wa onna o dō hyogenshite kita ka") "Womansword" is still constantly referred to by feminists documentarians and others concerned with women’s issues in Japan Language is a constantly evolving medium that reflects a society’s changing values the author notes some of the linguistic changes that have taken place that point to diverging stereotypes of the modern Japanese woman let’s look at some of the Japanese terms that refer to women and see how they’ve changed over the past 30 years and whether they’ve become more discriminatory women were labelled
