Frontier Elementary kindergarten teacher Julie Bargas was shocked when her students helped with her engagement. The front office summoned Bargas to get her out of her classroom and when she returned, her students were lined up outside of her classroom and each handed her a tiny ring. Then she walked inside her classroom where her fiancé, Josh, was down on one knee holding flowers. Josh asked Ms. Bargas to marry him in front of her coworkers and all the students. Julie said yes, and Josh brought Ring Pops for the entire class as a celebration. Lacie Lowry is an Emmy-award-winning journalist with more than 20 years of experience. A Roswell man has been arrested and charged with murder in the shooting death of another local man late Friday night at an apartment complex in the southwest part of the city, according to the Roswell Police Department. Paul Ybarra-Romero, 40, is accused of killing Christopher Bargas, 26, inside the apartment of a woman who was Romero’s ex-girlfriend and Bargas’ current girlfriend. Investigators believe "Ybarra-Romero came to the apartment and shot Bargas because he was upset that his ex-girlfriend was in a relationship with Bargas," the press release explained. Roswell Police Department officers were called to the Valle Encantada Apartments in the 2000 block of South Sunset Avenue at about 11:30 p.m. They found Bargas unresponsive inside the apartment with a gunshot wound to the chest. Bargas was transported to a hospital where he died a short time later. The woman and her three children were in the apartment when the shooting took place moments after Ybarra-Romero entered the apartment without permission, the press release noted. Officers found Ybarra-Romero standing in the parking lot of the apartment complex and a gun on the ground nearby. Ybarra-Romero was taken into custody while an investigation was conducted by RPD’s Criminal Investigations Division. Ybarra-Romero is charged with first-degree murder; aggravated burglary because he's alleged to have entered the apartment without permission; aggravated assault on a household member who in this case is his ex-girlfriend; and three counts of child abuse by putting the children in a dangerous situation. Ybarra-Romero was booked into the Chaves County Detention Center following his formal arrest at about 6 a.m. Saturday once the investigation had concluded.
