FC Barcelona is in the middle of the transfer market and has made a decision that's generating debate in the culé environment
until now the undisputed starter at left-back
could lose his main role after the transfer
The young promise from Athletic Club has reportedly given the green light to his move to Camp Nou
the club believes his performance has dropped due to a lack of direct competition
Joan Laporta and Hansi Flick have agreed that reinforcement in that position is necessary to raise the competitive level
The Spanish-nationalized full-back who shines under Ernesto Valverde's orders is the chosen one
Relations between Barça and Athletic Club are not at their best
especially after the failed attempts to sign Nico Williams
this hasn't stopped the blaugrana team from betting on one of the emerging talents from the Basque team
Alejandro Balde remains a key piece in Barça's future plans
but internal sources say his lack of competitive spirit worries the coaching staff
but he needs more pressure to perform at his best," they say from the club
Balde will have to decide whether to stay and fight for the position or accept one of the offers he's received
but his continuity as a starter seems to be in doubt
Flick with Barça | @FCBarcelonaBarça's return to the 1:1 spending rule allows it to undertake this operation without neglecting financial fair play
The club plans to use part of the revenue caused from recent sales to finalize Boiro's transfer
ensuring the pending registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor
Joan Laporta and Deco are managing the move carefully
aware that any mistake could generate additional tensions with Athletic Club
whose potential makes him a strategic option to strengthen the team
BarcelonaThe Chosen One for Left-backAdama Boiro
has stood out in La Liga for his defensive ability and his skill in joining the attack
His versatility and youth make him the ideal candidate to compete with Balde and bring freshness to Hansi Flick's scheme
The player is willing to leave Athletic Club to take a leap in his career and be part of one of the most ambitious projects in Europe
Although the negotiations haven't been easy
sources close to Barça assure that the operation is practically closed
Alejandro Balde's situation is hanging in the air
While Barça is betting on strengthening the team
the young full-back must make an important decision: stay to compete with Boiro or seek a new destination where he can continue to grow
Premier League teams have shown interest in his services
and his youth and projection make him an attractive option for several clubs
Balde has made it clear on multiple occasions that he wants to succeed at Barça and fulfilll his contract
The addition of Adama Boiro is just one of the multiple operations Barça is managing this winter
The board is working against the clock to meet the club's sporting and economic objectives
and every move is being calculated in detail
Barça seeks to strengthen its team and ensure it has the necessary depth to compete in all competitions
Boiro's arrival marks a before and after in the team's planning

Considering the Basque side’s recent form that had culminated in them beating rivals Sociedad last weekend, Athletic took to the field as a side visibly full of confidence
Therefore, it was unsurprising when they took the lead just minutes into the contest when youngster Adama Boiro - who was making just his second start this month - fired in a left-footed effort after a well-worked corner
The young left-back continued with his marauding runs overlapping star man Nico Williams
which allowed the winger to drift inside and cause havoc down the middle
With 25 minutes gone, the Spaniard provided Benat Prados with the Basque side’s second goal after his delicious chipped cross was headed home by the midfielder
the outclassed Swedes valiantly managed to dig in
ensuring the deficit didn’t worsen by half-time
Little had changed in terms of Athletic’s dominance in the game after the interval
and Athletic added a third less than 10 minutes after the restart
Boiro was once again the man of the moment as he fizzed a slide rule pass into the feet of Gorka Guruzeta
who made little mistake with his first-time finish from inside the penalty area
The third goal appeared to damage the previously spirited Elfsborg
who had built up confidence through 30 minutes of stern defensive work
This allowed Ernesto Valverde to make sweeping changes as a composed Athletic knocked the ball around in the final minutes
In truth they always looked likely to win a fourth consecutive Europa League match for just the third time - the last time they did that they went all the way to the final

Home » Security Bloggers Network » Maryland Busts $9.5 Million #BEC Money Laundering Ring
Three indictments have been unsealed in Maryland that document an extensive network of shell companies that were used to wash at least $9.5 Million in funds from at least fifteen #BEC (Business Email Compromise) cases across the country.
those charged (with an example address from their respective shell companies):
* – Blondel is my favorite of this gang
claiming both Computer Science and Criminal Justice degrees and claiming to work in Cybersecurity including as a Phishing Analyst.
All three cases make reference to one another
with the exception that Gedeon’s 2-page indictment for Aggravated Identity Theft is stand-alone. While he is not named as a defendant in case #2
The big unanswered question to me is – THEN WHERE DID THE MONEY GO? Based on the seizures
very few of the funds were still in the possession of the laundering crew. So who recruited them? And where did the funds go when they left their control? We MUST keep pulling the string and find out!
I was curious why DCIS was one of the investigating agencies here. The DOJ Press release says that: “As a result of a law enforcement operation on February 7
10 defendants were arrested at locations throughout Maryland and three search warrants were executed related to an alleged money laundering conspiracy involving more than $9.5 million in proceeds from fraud schemes. Law enforcement agents from the Homeland Security Investigations Mid-Atlantic El-Dorado Task Force
and the Defense Criminal Investigative Service participated in yesterday’s searches and arrests. Additional defendants are currently fugitives.”
The only person among the defendants that I see is military so far is Areal Harris:

2024 Jon Uriarte: “We're on the right track” NewsImagesFeb 5
2024Jon Uriarte: “We're on the right track”
Director of football Mikel González singled out the ambition with which they are building "an Athletic for the present and the future"
Athletic Club president Jon Uriarte said he was happy with the progress made on the pitch throughout the first half of the 2023/24 campaign
pointing to the Lions' current position in LaLiga and their Copa run
The president was joined by director of football Mikel González as they analysed Athletic's current situation and took questions from local media outlets
We still have to do the most difficult part
which is managing expectations and maintaining this winning DNA," Jon said while assessing the men's and women's first teams
describing it as "the competition which puts food on the table"
while he also avoided making any grand predictions about the upcoming Copa semi-final
He said: “It will be very evenly matched
Atlético are a great side and a tough opponent
But I'm sure they feel the same way about us."
The president went on to underline "the credit due for reaching five consecutive semi-finals"
but stressed the need to keep feet on the ground when it comes to the knockout competition
"We haven't won the Copa for 40 years and it's not fair to put that responsibility on the current generation of players," he added
Mikel González said there is "an obligation" to build an "ambitious Athletic for the present and future" when speaking about the signing of Adama Boiro and others brought to Lezama during the winter transfer window
"That players like Nico Williams, Oihan Sancet and Unai Simón believe in Athletic is an example for our youth players and an attraction for Basque footballers," the director of football continued
Mikel González praised the contribution made to the first team by academy players and summer signing Iñigo Ruiz de Galarreta
stating the senior side is "where we wanted them to be" as he gave a very positive assessment of their performance so far this season
He added: "We said we had a more complete squad and that's what they're demonstrating under Ernesto Valverde
who is the perfect coach to get the most out of this side
improving our results with better football
more accuracy and a maturity which helps us stand up after any setbacks
"All of this with the participation of the very young players who are coming up through Lezama."
Neither the president nor the director of football spoke about renewals or negotiations. However, Jon Uriarte dedicated a few words to Iker Munian
calling him "a true Athletic legend"
while Mikel González indicated that "they are in contact with all the players whose contracts finish in June"
While talking about our women's first team, Mikel González referenced the recent incorporation of Irati Martin and stressed the transitional nature of this current season.
"Footballers under the age of 24 have featured in 66% of all minutes played," he said. "At Lezama, the team is brave and competitive but they need to take a step forward away from home."
González finished by calling on Athleticzales to get to Lezama on Wednesday evening for the Lionesses' Copa quarter-final against UD Tenerife.

The state-backed history of Guinea is selective in who it remembers and forgets
meaning that important historical figures who were not loyal to the dictatorship established after independence and still in place nearly sixty years later seldom get the lip service they deserve from the country's leadership
On national holidays not one word is uttered in commemoration of Barry Diawadou
Neither does the state recognise many of the others who lie in graves
whose locations are unknown even to their relatives
No attempt has been made to rehabilitate these heroes posthumously and recognise their achievements in the independence struggle
and yet their executioners are praised often enough
stands as compelling figure in the country's exit from colonialism
A graduate of the department of Administration at the Ecole Normale William Ponty de Gorée
Diawadou served in World War II and obtained the rank of chief sergeant
He was elected several times as a member of the French National Assembly
In an article published on the website “La Plume Plus”, Mody Boubakar Diallo writes:
[Ed:The referendum requested by France asked whether
Guinea would wish to remain within a newly formed francophone commonwealth]
It should also be noted that Barry Diawadou narrowly saved President Sékou Touré by advising him not to board a military aircraft bound for Dakar
the French wanted to throw [Touré] out over the sea after his speech on August 25
In his book entitled Guinée, Le temps de Fripouilles (English: Guinea, The Era of Buggers) Sako Kondé praises Diawadou's integrity and recalls an exchange between him and Touré during those turbulent times:
Un homme d’une honnêteté intellectuelle et d’un sens du bien public exemplaires
Certains ont pu dire de lui qu’il était « trop droit pour réussir en politique »
vrai… Beaucoup d’entre eux se souviennent de cette entrevue qu’il eut avec Sékou Touré à la veille du référendum : celui-ci vint le trouver pour lui dire en substance : « Le sort de la Guinée est entre tes mains ; tout dépendra de toi”
A man of true intellectual honesty and an exemplary sense of public good
Some could say he was “too honest to succeed in politics”
This is probably true… Many among them remember a meeting that took place with Sékou Touré on the eve of the referendum
He [Touré] came to him [Diawadou] and said in essence: “The fate of Guinea is in your hands
In his own book Expérience Guinéenne et Unité Africaine, (English: The Guinean Experience and African Unity) Sékou Touré, writing before his descent into total despotism, noted approvingly of Diawadou:
I will tell you right now that with this comrade
Sako Kondé describes the political situation that prevailed in Guinea and its evolution following the country's accession to independence:
besides the Guinean section of the RDA (African Democratic Rally
two main political minority groups: the African Bloc of Guinea (BAG)
led respectively by Barry Diawadou and Barry Ibrahima (Barry III)
who were both later killed by their [shared] adversary
The “agreement” between these two parties and the PDG took place during the very first days of independence
Sékou Touré could then gloat and declare that “our people had risen above the petty disagreements which divided the country into numerous political parties”; and claim that their “unity” made possible “Guinea's full political and moral significance”
The population had just rejected the French Community
with more than 94% [voting ‘No’]
[…] This shady deal among the general staff was nothing more than a death sentence for the minority parties
their two leaders had entered the PDG government
immediately swallowed up by a single party
Barry Diawadou fell victim to an adversary [Sékou Touré] more comfortable in “dirty-dealing politics” than in building a nation
History is full of dirty tricks whereby the cheaters and the ignorant take precedence over the honest and capable
[…] What can we take away from this
The website campboiro.org describes Sékou Touré's persecution of Barry Diawadou and his family
Diawadou was executed by firing squad in 1969 following his trial and conviction in absentia of plotting against the regime
and a son-in-law all spent time behind bars
Diawadou's brother also died a prisoner
Below is a video which retraces the memories of families in this prison:
Camara Kaba 41, in his book Dans la Guinée de Sékou Touré: Cela a Bien eu Lieu, (English: Living in Sékou Touré's Guinea: How it Happened) offers a harrowing description of the fate of a group of political prisoners under the Touré regime:
Ils étaient méconnaissables avec leur maigreur extrême et surtout avec leur barbe de plusieurs mois
Il creusait sa tombe sous les baïonnettes de ses soldats d’hier
They were unrecognisable with their extreme gauntness and especially their months-old beards
They dug their graves under the the bayonets of the soldiers of yesterday

Senators on Tuesday heard how at least 8,000 youths from Uasin Gishu were allegedly conned between Sh 40,400 and 150,000 each by a consultancy firm that claimed it would help them secure jobs abroad
Appearing before Senate’s Labour and Social Welfare Committee
the youths narrated how First Choice Recruitment and Consultancy Agency gave them false hopes of a bright future
“I was offered Sh400,000 to stop pursuing this matter and when I declined
I got threats against my life,” activist Kimutai Kirui said
Kirui told the committee led by West Pokot Senator Julius Murgor that he was forced to flee Eldoret because of the threats
The representatives of the victims told the committee that they learnt of the agency after Cooperatives CS Simon Chelugui
Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago and Prominent Businessman David Lagat attended its launch on May 20
The committee was informed that the agency had promised the youths to assist them to get studies and job opportunities in Qatar
one of the victims who completed his studies at Kisii University in 2019 told the committee that he looked forward to a job opportunity in Finland
He was allegedly duped to give out a total of Sh 437,000 towards this programme
“When I went to the agency I applied to study in Finland where I got an admission letter from Tampere university and paid a downpayment,” he said
“I was to pay the balance of the required amount in instalments when I settled in Finland
I later got a call from the university saying I had not paid fees,” said Nzuki
Director Judy Jepchirchir allegedly told him they had a disagreement with the university
She is said to have told Nzuki to apply to study at a university in Poland and would later be called and told that he had secured a work permit for Poland which he signed and was booked for an embassy appointment
Nzuki told the committee that he honoured the embassy appointment but unfortunately was denied a visa
Upon carrying out an investigation he found out that it was due to a fake insurance policy issued by the agency
He decided to visit Pioneer Insurance Company which had issued the insurance policy after which samples of genuine insurance were shown to him
He decided to seek a refund from the agency
When he sensed that he had been conned and that on many occasions he reported the DCI in Eldoret to no avail
he was served a letter through the agency advocate accusing him of threats and defamation of character
“I was called by one of the agency employees known as Matthew to come and my refund cheque
I was issued with a post-dated cheque that was not equivalent to the amount I paid to the company,” said Nzuki
a bodaboda operator told the committee that he sold his motorbike so that he could raise the Sh40,400
The funds were to enable him to travel to Qatar for a job
He convinced his parents to sell a section of their family land at Sh 100,000 so that his sister Peris Jebet could also secure a chance to work there
Boiro said he saw an opportunity for quick wealth and convinced at least 10 of his friends to pay money to secure the job opportunities
“The most painful part is that I had spent Sh 200,000 to get my motorbike which I paid for in instalments and sold it at Sh 65,000 since I saw a chance of improving my life,” he said
“My parents sold land so that my sister could join me and I also convinced my friends to also join what I thought was a lucrative deal which turned into a hoax,” said Boiro
Murgor said that the panel will summon Interior CSKithure Kindiki
his counterpart Florence Bore and Police IG Japhet Koome to shed light on the matter
“They will tell us what steps the government has taken to address the plight of over 8,000 youths who might have lost billions of shillings in total in this scam,” said Murgor
Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei said that it was unfortunate that innocent youths were being intimidated for fighting for their rights
Cherargei said that the committee will visit Uasin Gishu County so that they could meet with the victims to understand the magnitude of the problem
First Choice Recruitment Agency CEO Judy Chepchirchir has denied any wrongdoing
She told the Star that her firm was doing legitimate business and had not conned anyone
On Sunday she flagged off more than 100 youths who will fly out this week for jobs abroad
Sudi said they would also meet the owners of the firm and sort out challenges concerning their programmes
