The "Laderas del Castillo" archaeological site, more than 4,000 years old and located in the town of Callosa de Segura, in the Valencian Community, has been inaugurated after its rehabilitation and museumization by Rocamora, transforming it into an open and respectful space dedicated to memory
at-risk enclave that is extremely important to the agrarian culture of the peninsula
It houses spaces dedicated to knowledge and citizenship
strengthening the connection between heritage
On Tuesday, March 18, the restoration and enhancement of the "Laderas del Castillo" archaeological site was inaugurated by Rocamora Diseño & Arquitectura in Callosa de Segura
a site dating back more than 4,000 years and belonging to the Argaric culture
The site was at risk due to its steep slope
and the lack of infrastructure that would allow it to be visited without compromising its integrity
The project addressed this complexity through a museographic architecture that unites conservation
understanding the site as an archaeological narrative that must be articulated without altering its authenticity

The intervention has consolidated the archaeological structures discovered in successive campaigns led by Juan Antonio López Padilla and Francisco Javier Jover Maestre and has structured a route through six distinct sectors
Through strategically placed walkways and observation points
visitors can explore the site without stepping on or damaging the remains
gaining insight into their original configuration and historical context
The museography is based on a non-invasive narrative
and graphic resources interact with the landscape and accompany the experience without overwhelming it
The project uses materials with low visual and environmental impact
reducing the ecological footprint of the intervention and ensuring the reversibility of the construction elements
Renovation and museumization of "Laderas del Castillo" by Rocamora
Access to the site has been redesigned to improve its connection to the urban core
creating a clear transition between the city
The route adapts to the existing topography
making the historical occupation of the hill legible from an educational
This project transforms the site into a space open to the public and to knowledge
reinforcing the connection between heritage
The museum architecture implemented by Rocamora has not only allowed the preservation of a key Bronze Age site
but also provided it with new tools for its reading and enjoyment
harmoniously integrating it into its natural environment

On July 28, animal rights campaigners and concerned residents held two rallies at Plaza de Spain in Callosa de Segura and Plaza de la Glorieta in Cox to protest the slaughter of feral goats in both municipalities
these goats now number more than 200 and have been making a nuisance of themselves by coming to the outskirts of urban areas
animal rights protestors argue that they are domestic animals that were ‘abandoned to their fate’
they have been breeding uncontrollably in an area where they lack access to water and food
led to them being forced to venture into the residential areas to drink from the fountains
While it is recognised that the goats are a problem
the protestors are looking for assurances that it will be dealt with in a humane manner
They are seeking for the goats to be moved to a new place where they can live peacefully and have enough resources to survive

Steve Bruce has told the Chronicle that he was very impressed by Newcastle United’s Miguel Almiron, after seeing him play for the very first time live at the weekend
Almiron came on as a substitute for Newcastle in their friendly against Preston North End
The Paraguayan international actually missed from the penalty spot
Bruce still saw plenty of promise in Almiron’s display
and he thinks that the 25-year-old could form a strong partnership with Newcastle new boy Joelinton in attack
Bruce said: “The two of them (Joeliton and Almiron) will be a handful
it was the first time I have seen him live
Almiron has quickly gone from being the new boy at Newcastle last January
The skilful South American impressed during his first few months with Newcastle
and there are very high hopes of what could lie ahead for him this season

The image provoked derision on a Gibraltar website where it was posted
wrote: "This image reminds me of the Argentines strolling through Port Stanley
It would be a very short and bloody conflict with Spain being the loser."
The provocation comes amid continued tensions between Madrid and London over the future of Gibraltar
which were triggered by a fishing dispute earlier in the summer

The Guardia Civil have detained four people linked to the Napoli mafia with two arrests carried out in Mijas and Marbella in December
The major operation began after a drugs stash was stolen by a rival gang and a man was kidnapped last April in the Alicante town of Callosa de Segura
After being held for four days the victim escaped from his violent kidnappers and went to the San Juan de Alicante police station to report his abduction
The alleged perpetrators reportedly caused several injuries to the victim and deprived him of basic food
The investigation was then taken over by the Guardia Civil in Alicante
which started the operation known as Estratavo
officers located the two houses where the victim was held
they arrested a 55-year-old woman of Italian origin
She was the sister of the alleged ringleader of the plot who was arrested on 1 August in Valencia
The Estratavo operation subsequently traced two other male gang members to the Costa del Sol where one of the alleged kidnappers was arrested on 12 December in Mijas
a huge operation was deployed in Marbella to capture the fourth suspect
The latter took cover in a house in the area of El Trapiche and was arrested after an operation involving officers of the Rapid Action Group – historically linked to the fight against terrorism – and drones
The detainees are charged with crimes of kidnapping
injury and membership of a criminal group and are being investigated by a court in Orihuela
The three male members of the gang are being held on remand

Exactly 7 years to the day since the devastating 5.1 magnitude earthquake in Lorca many people on the southern Costa Blanca said that “the Earth most definitely moved for them” when the latest tremor hit the area at 19.26 local time on Friday evening
the epicentre of which was 10km off the coast of Pilar de la Horadada
lots of people took to Twitter in the minutes following the quake with some reporting their homes and apartment blocks shaking for about 4-5 seconds
The earthquake was felt in municipalities as widespread as Torrevieja
In Torrevieja hundreds of residents ran into the street until the alert has passed while many stores
supermarkets and other establishments actually evacuated their buildings
Hundreds of residents took to social networks immediately after the quake telling how ornaments had moved and furniture and windows had vibrated
Others identified the earthquake more because of the noise caused by the seismic activity
told the Leader: “I was in that only really half-awake state fumbling round the house and watching television and I thought for a moment that a big tank had driven past the front gate
it was only after a few minutes I realised it might be an earthquake
It was a rumble and a vibration rather than a physical wobble.”
People who witnessed the quake at the Queen Victoria pub in Cabo Roig were in no doubt as to the cause of the shake
“The side of the building actually trembled” said one customer
“It was certainly one of the most scary few seconds I have witnessed in recent years although thankfully I didn’t lose any beer.”
One resident of Entrenaranjos contacted a site that records local earthquakes writing “Experienced our first earthquake
There was quite a large rumble which sounded like an explosion or a large vehicle hitting a building
The house shook and then a strange quietness followed by a smaller aftershock.”
Another resident of Torre de la Horadada wrote “Sitting watching the News when there was a sudden loud rumbling and the whole house shook
just prior to the last big earthquake there
and this was similar to some of the pre-shocks that we experienced.”
David from Orihuela 32 km NW from epicentre
was another conrtributor to the site writing “The neighbours all came out
It was the worst earthquake we had experienced here in Spain
It was so loud and it felt like it was directly underneath the house
According to a spokesman from the National Geographic Institute (IGN) “Many of these slight tremors occur in the area every year
This particular one lasted several seconds and was more “noisy” than dangerous.”
The emergency services said that they received several calls from concerned residents but there are no reports of damage or injury
