“This is the fastest any television show has ever gone to air
as far as I can tell,” EP David Caspe tells TheWrap of the basketball star’s series regular acting debut — as himself
Creative partners Adam Pally and David Caspe didn’t anticipate that the “third in the Pally-Caspe trilogy” would star one of the greatest basketball players of all time
a dedicated member of his own rec league basketball team
an “enormous basketball fan and even bigger Stephen Curry fan,” could not believe that the four-time NBA champion wanted to work on a show with them
“I would not be shocked if we just got a phone call Thursday morning when the show’s supposed to premiere
Stephen decided not to do it,’” Caspe told TheWrap
The idea for the duo’s mockumentary series “Mr. Throwback” came after an appearance on Ayesha Curry’s HBO Max game show
Caspe and Pally appeared on separate episodes with their wives — “Happy Endings” and “Marry Me” alum Casey Wilson and Daniella Liben
respectively — to play the “Newlywed Game.” After shooting
Pally said that the three couples just hit it off (though Caspe asks that you don’t watch his episode
“We’re joking around backstage and then the next day
‘If there’s any ideas you have
we’d love to hear them,’” Pally recalled to TheWrap
The producing partners immediately called up their “Happy Endings” writing companions
to tap them for a pitch at Curry’s production company Unanimous Media
the idea to make a mockumentary series about Curry’s middle school teammate scamming him to “save his own ass” was born
After shooting delays from the writers’ and actors’ strikes last summer
the Peacock series was on a time crunch to get made
Between Curry’s regular NBA season and his appearance at the Paris 2024 Olympics
the star on and off the court was hard to pin down
the show and its script are extremely current
with references to “Hawk Tuah Girl,” Gypsy Rose and “Saltburn.”
“It honestly wasn’t our intention to be that current
we just had such an accelerated production schedule,” writer Daniel Libman told TheWrap
“[It] was such a truncated period of time that I think the result is it seems almost ‘South Park-ian’ in how current it is.”
This is the fastest any television show has ever gone to air
it does not take notes from Christopher Guest’s canon or “The Office,” rather it is inspired by real life documentaries like “The Last Dance” and Netflix’s Fyre Festival doc
The creators said they wanted the show to answer the question of who made this movie and why
music and text slides that mirror that of a straight documentary
as opposed to many of the other spoofs created
The writing trio of Caspe and the Libman brothers said they were not sure if the show would be improvised or scripted ahead of shooting
They knew that this was Curry’s first foray into acting as a series regular
so they wanted to give him enough material to work with but didn’t know if the athlete had enough time to memorize 60 pages of dialogue.
and he just knew every one of his lines and knew when to come in and was so funny doing it,” Caspe raved of the athlete
‘How is he going to take a note?’ And then we almost just forgot that he wasn’t an actor,” Matthew Libman added
Working with Pally and “SNL” star Ego Nwodim
the basketball star was bound to break a couple of times
The creators revealed they even left some of his giggles in the final cut
“There’s some shots where he’s laughing really hard or where the three of them
were laughing because they were just having such a good time together,” Caspe said
Nwodim agreed that the chemistry between the three of them felt like a real friend group
she could not have been more excited to work on a project where everyone got to shine and be funny in their own way
and so I think that’s a testament to how much I enjoyed myself that even after I was given permission to go home
‘I’m staying,’” Nwodim told TheWrap
Throwback” worked on ABC’s “Happy Endings,” and they said they would love to keep working together on a reboot of that project … if someone can find the money for it
but they’re always sort of talking about it,” Caspe confirmed
And I actually had a drink with Jonathan Groff
fans of the show can watch the team back in action in “Mr
Throwback.” Pally stars as a down-on-his-luck memorabilia vendor and once-middle school teammate of Stephen Curry
Executive producer and lifelong basketball fan said that if nothing else he’s just happy he got to work so closely with the NBA star
EP and lifelong basketball fan Caspe gushed of Curry
That’s all I ever wanted from any of this.”
Throwback” are available to stream on Peacock

Prestige television has become a crowded space
a Don Cheadle-fronted comedy about the 1987 stock market crash
Creator David Caspe has been making interesting television for a decade
winning over critics and fans with his absurdist — but heartfelt — comedy
the Chicago-born writer proves he’s the master of cult TV comedy
My dad was a soybean trader back in Chicago
which is different than Wall Street but not too dissimilar
and he would always tell me stories as a kid of just the craziest shit that would happen down there
he would walk into the bathroom and guys were just doing coke everywhere
It has since been pointed out to me in the writers’ room by a lot of people like
“Don’t you find it strange that your dad has all these stories?” Like
[he was always saying] “as I was going home” or “when I walked by” but
You likely don’t have that many details unless you were in it
I think those crazy stories were both hilarious but also really just heartbreaking because the stakes are so high in that world
There’s not really a lot of jobs where you can lose money when you go to work; very rarely do they take all the money you made the last four years and just take it back
I think I would also need a drink or a line or something at the end of the day if I spent all day almost losing everything
then we don’t have to stray from reality that much to get jokes
We did an episode in the first season called the LaGuardia Spread
where Horatio [Sanz’s] character made a big bet on beef or cattle
then went to the airport with the plan of either finding out it worked and going back to his house
or finding out it didn’t work and disappearing forever
That was something my dad told me called the “O’Hare Play”
which is obviously the Chicago O’Hare Airport
When guys were down to their last nickel and had no choice
they would borrow a bunch of other people’s money and make an enormous trade
and then they would go to O’Hare and call the [trading] floor
they would just hop on an airplane and disappear truly forever
My dad knows multiple people who just left their wife and kids and never came back
We wanted to try to mimic that tone of ‘80s movies
of yo-yoing between super dramatic and then super slapstick comedy in a way that movies just don’t do anymore

She's already ordered a tall iced coffee and looks like any other L.A
and it feels like I'm meeting one of my Glamour colleagues instead of a much-admired Hollywood star
But that's Casey Wilson: just like us
before we start the "on-the-record" portion of the interview
we have a full 45-minute conversation talking about personal girl stuff (that truthfully ends up being not that different from what you'll see below)
I walk away with not only one of my favorite interviews yet (one that has inspired me to launch Girl Talk as a permanent series) but a new friend
So get ready to know Casey Wilson like you never have before..
Glamour: Let's jump right into it: What lessons have you learned about creating your own brand and being in charge of your career
I am more confident with what I know or think is funny
It also comes from having a partner in comedy
I've learned to bring them into the process when I feel confident
You're the only one that can really know what's right for your career
You're on a wing and a prayer through most of it
Glamour: And how do you do that when you're meeting with TV executives who can make or break a project
you're then in each other's world
If you have a sense of your place in the world
that's the best preparation for anything
It's not all doom and gloom for Casey Wilson and Ken Marino: Their new sitcom
is one of the brightest spots in the fall 2014 lineup
with having a great eye for comedy as well
One of my favorite quirks about her is that she keeps getting her nails done because she thinks an engagement is coming
Casey: My husband wrote the show and that was based on our own relationship because I kept getting my nails done over and over thinking a proposal was coming
you get more angry because it's sad to get your nails done and not get proposed to
threatened to drive my car through our house a couple weeks ago
Casey: I've had those relationships where you're yelling at one another and you do sort of contaminate the relationship because there is no respect
"You may have been screaming and yelling with all your drama boyfriends
but you can't speak to me like that." That's such a lesson
At the beginning of our relationship I used to fly off the handle more
I was going through this box of letters he kept of mine
"I'm so sorry about last night..." [Laughs] And then I did start meditating and those letters have gotten much less
Glamour: Ken Marino plays your fiance in Marry Me
Casey: I slept with Ken because I wanted to make sure the chemistry was there
and David was in love with Ken from the first moment
Glamour: Our writer Megan Angelo pointed out that in this year's new pilots
there's a lot of relationships where the guy is a lot older than the girl
Casey: We're going to play him a little younger
otherwise you have to deal with all these other issues
like 'Are they going to have kids?" Ken looks younger than he is
but it was because he was the right guy for the part
your character tries to play it cool about a potential proposal
Casey: I'm always the person that tries to play it cool
"I'm going to let him plan something." But somehow I ended up renting out a theater on Wilshire Boulevard to screen Annie Hall
[Laughs] So I can't speak to playing it cool
I don't want to say I was more into David than he was into me
but we had been working together for about a year before we started dating
especially because we want to make things happen
Casey: I ultimately started dating other people
I actually had to go to that darker place of
"I don't think this is going to happen." I started dating other people just to get out there
"You know she's going to date other people," so then he was like
let's give this a try." But it was such a different thing coming as his idea in a way
I think that's true of work stuff also
and that was awkward because I was happy for him
It's going to be a nice house for you..
and our children one day." He did eventually ask me to move in
but I said I didn't want to move in until we were engaged
and then six years could go by and we'd be living together
and the night that he slept over there for the first time
and self-applied makeup because he's a horrible actor [and I knew something was coming]
He proposed to me that first night in the new house
and his parents walked up the driveway and everyone came over
and caterers came in and set up a full meal and champagne
and it was just a beautiful dinner together in the house
Glamour: Did your costars on Happy Endings pick up on what was going on
Casey: They did, but they were all really sweet about it. Adam Pally did a speech at our wedding that was really funny
He said very sarcastically to all the guests
we all thought this would be a great idea!" But everybody was really nice and cool about it
Wilson and Adam Pally remain best friends even post-Happy Endings
Glamour: For those of us in our thirties who haven't found the right guy yet
Casey: Ask your girlfriends or just people you meet to set you up
but just put it out there and tell people you're interested
I've had a marriage and a divorce with the same two
but I can get you guys together and then you're on your own
here's another piece of advice: Don't get down on your luck because you haven't met the right guy yet
and it's important you keep that going
there's a greater chance it won't
Glamour: What's funny is that you told yourself you didn't think things would work out with you and David in the beginning
but there's a difference between releasing something in your head and saying
but I'm open to other things," versus "This is never going to happen." I think it's really hard not to get dark because everyone wants to meet someone
Glamour: We have to talk about the fact that you told John Stamos how you lost your virginity on the Yahoo
You essentially talked to Uncle Jesse about your sex life
I haven't been able to bring myself to watch it though because it was just such a crazy day
He was so invested in what I was telling him
Glamour: You admitted to him that you had to go to therapy because of how emotional your breakup with your boyfriend was
Casey: The first thing I'll do is show her Losing It With John Stamos
[Laughs] I don't know how my parents handled such an emotional human being
My goal is to just process things with more stability
so hopefully I can just listen and provide some sort of voice
Things seem so big when you're younger
and I hope my daughter doesn't get so caught up in those moments
Glamour: Let's talk health and fitness
What's your best advice for maintaining a healthy lifestyle
I like being in a class because I know I'm not going to just stop
Otherwise I would read a Glamour magazine and walk very slowly on the treadmill
how do you deal with the constant pressure to always look your best
It has kind of hurt me in the business a little bit
you give yourself more protection by being thinner—like you're more exposed to just look normal
I was laughing when my wedding was coming up
"I should really look my best for the wedding." I cared more about that
but there's only so far I'm willing to go
Glamour: I just want our readers to know how gorgeous you are
Glamour: You had nine bridesmaids at your wedding
How do you nurture those friendships with a super-busy life
Casey: I've worked so hard on these friendships
and it's literally the thing I take the most pride in
and she wanted to wear a crown so she could stand out
"We had to get here together." She talked about us as a we and was like
"That's why I'm wearing this crown—because we've gotten here together." I feel the same about all my girlfriends
Glamour: What do your friends love most about you
My mom always taught me to leave a card in someone's suitcase or whatnot
Just to prove how bad (or good!) her handwriting is
I made Casey sign an autograph (yearbook-style) for us
*This is my handwriting on its best behavior!!"
what are the makeup and hair products you can't live without
Casey: Meditation in the morning and a drink at night! That's a Glamour Do and Don't right there. [Laughs]

A teenage girl and her mother come into North Shore Family Services to get a free grad dress
A high school student escapes abuse at home
one of four beds at the Youth Safe House is free
36 tenants will be evicted from their temporary homes as of July 31
These true stories were told in District of North Vancouver chambers on May 27
as council unanimously passed a motion to seek opportunities to build more transitional housing
district staff have been directed to report back to council with solutions for North Vancouver residents who are homeless or precariously housed
Staff will also look into housing types that can be built within six to twelve months
pallet homes and other prefabricated concepts used elsewhere in the province
several housing advocates spoke in support of the motion
Also there to get behind the initiative was 18-year-old Zach Caspe
the student who had found refuge at the North Shore Youth Safe House two years ago after leaving an abusive household
I had to face the decision between living under a stable roof or being safe,” he said
I think it’s unfair that we have to choose between safety and security or stable housing.”
Caspe credits his current good fortune to getting one of four beds at the safe house
Caspe said the need for more transitional housing is crucial
During his seven-month stay at the North Shore safe house
“Transitional housing is a safe space for youth to stay in while their situation is figured out,” Caspe said
Caspe was put in touch with a social worker
who helped him develop a plan to move forward
you don’t have to worry about your safety or where to find food,” Caspe said
“That’s why transitional housing
Catherine Pope said the goal is to build housing fast to keep people off the street until the district finishes building permanent supportive housing
“We are facing a potential tsunami of unhoused and homeless people on the North Shore
It is the inevitable impact of the housing affordability crisis,” she said
“Frontline outreach workers are already seeing it because the shelter is consistently full
“We have a moral imperative to act fast to help our most vulnerable residents
many of whom will be forced to live on the street,” Pope said
she pointed to 55 modular homes built by the Squamish Nation on Capilano Road
and 60 tiny prefab homes constructed in Kelowna
Jordan Back said he had visited the Squamish Nation modular housing
and advocated for creative solutions while more permanent options are still years away from being built
“We need to be able to help people now,” he said
Mayor Mike Little said that he’s been very supportive of projects that house adults and youth facing homelessness
but that the provincial government has offered less support on the North Shore compared to other municipalities
“The province is going around and buying land and buying buildings in other municipalities in Vancouver
they expect us to buy the land and contribute the land,” he said
“I find that very unfair,” Little said
“If the province is committed to producing shelter spaces … in our community
they’re going to have to make the same kind of commitment.”
Lisa Muri said she shares the mayor’s frustrations when it comes to the district picking up more costs associated with building supportive and transitional housing
there are some brownfield opportunities to look at
“We do have the fire hall that’s going to be vacant,” Muri said
“I’m wondering if there can’t be some modular put in there.”
“We’ve also got property down on Mountain Highway
we’ve got some houses there,” she said
Buy a house that has five bedrooms and put a mother and a daughter who’s living in their car
and was another mother and daughter fleeing violence
and there’s the solution to your problem.”
A date has not yet been set for the matter to come back to council

she knew exactly what her dream house was: The problem was that she didn’t know if it actually existed in Los Angeles
but I’ve always loved the movie Father of the Bride
and I had this idea in my head of the white house with the dark trim,” the Black Monday actress says
was filled with a preponderance of Mediterranean and modern homes
and not many in that traditional East Coast vein
had been keeping a close eye on the real estate market in the area and alerted the couple as soon as a listing for a private almost farmhouse-like home became available
Although they lost out with their first bid
the approximately 4,000-square-foot house hit the market again a few months later
But as picture-perfect as its exterior was
they knew a major renovation of the 1938 home was in order
Its current state was dark and claustrophobic: exactly what Wilson
To realize her and Caspe’s vision for a welcoming home that was perfect for entertaining—“Our favorite thing in life is sharing a meal or drink with friends,” she says—they enlisted not only Levine to work on the interior architecture but also firm Nickey Kehoe to create the interior design
who normally focuses on interior design himself
but working with Nickey proved the men were perfect foils

It’s really fun watching someone else with talent take what you’ve done and add their layer on to it.”
Although the renovation was an arduous year-and-a-half-long process—“We did something in every room,” Wilson says—she is delighted with the results

“It ended up being truly so far and beyond the house of our dreams.”
Levine’s goal was to open up each floor’s layout: On the first floor
which is where the family does their entertaining
he added in a proper foyer by expanding out into the house’s substantial front veranda
“it looked like it was always there,” Levine says
he blew out the ceilings in the bedrooms to cathedral-like proportions and added in larger windows to take advantage of the property’s lush green landscape
which was the former owner’s secondary closet

For the interior design
Wilson relayed to Nickey that she loved pattern and color
“We wanted the whole house to feel warm when you came in,” she says
“Like it was a hug and welcoming to everyone.” Caspe found he did have to be the voice of reason when it came to some of Wilson’s design wishes
we would just strap two mattresses to you and you would just lie down wherever you were,” she laughs
we have to have a chair; it can’t also be a couch and a bed.’ ” Nickey toed the line by imbuing the home with bright color
“We wanted to create a space they are super-comfortable in and that feels casual enough in the less formal areas of the house but then formal enough that entertaining still feels like it’s an elevated experience,” says Nickey

2014.http://instagram.com/caseyrosewilsonLOS ANGELES (KABC) -- "Happy Endings" star Casey Wilson married show creator David Caspe in Ojai on Sunday
The 33-year-old actress and 35-year-old television writer exchanged their vows in a traditional Jewish wedding service at the Ojai Valley Inn
"David and I couldn't have been more excited to celebrate our special day with all of our closest friends and family," Wilson told Us Weekly
her former "Happy Endings" co-stars Elisha Cuthbert
along with comedienne Whitney Cummings and fellow "Saturday Night Live" alum Abby Elliot
Cummings posted photos of the happy bride and groom walking together back up the aisle after saying their "I do's" on Twitter and Instagram
"Baby girl @caseyrosewilson is off tinder folks," the "2 Broke Girls" creator joked on Twitter
Wilson posted a wedding photo on her Instagram account Monday with the simple caption
The actress wore a lace Monique Lhuillier gown with sheer
embroidered long sleeves and Jimmy Choo shoes
Wilson and Caspe began dating in 2011 while working on the ABC sitcom, and got engaged in September 2013.
"Happy Endings" ended in May 2013 after three seasons. But Wilson and Caspe have teamed up again professionally. They're collaborating on a new NBC comedy called "Marry Me," loosely based on their relationship, which is set to premiere this fall.
The Happy Endings star married the show's creator David Caspe on Sunday
Sheila Baylis is the former editor for PEOPLE's health vertical. She left the brand in 2023.
The stars of the ABC cult comedy will do a table read at EW PopFest
Ask about the story of Noah, and most think of the flood, an ark and animals walking two-by-two.
Artist Lynda Caspe recalls Noah’s drunkenness and castration.
“Greed,” said Caspe from her Tribeca loft. “He didn’t want any less than a third of the Earth.”
“I knew you don’t make money in art,” she said. “[Teaching was] how I supported myself.”
Though much of the sculpture in her upcoming show is biblical in nature, one of her recent pieces is a self-portrait of sorts. Titled “Autobiography,” the two-foot bronze relief hangs in her studio and incorporates people from Caspe’s life. An abstract image of her father, who was a biochemist for Philip Morris, sits on the subject’s nose. A horse she rode as a child trots on her cheek.
Paintings hanging on the whitewashed brick walls of the light-drenched, 3,200 square foot loft and studio space are Caspe’s own colorful landscapes done at her country home in Meredith, New York.
“Except for the Picasso over there,” she said. She bought the black lithograph print in Paris for $25 as a gift for her father, she said.
The apartment décor is eclectic —a red velvet couch and emerald velvet armchair, with slight tears in the fabric, look as if they were salvaged from an antique store. And her bedroom door is still plastered with magazine cutouts of ‘90s football stars from when her son Daniel, now 35, inhabited the quarters.
Caspe purchased her apartment in 1974 with a $7,000 grant from the New York State Council on the Arts. She knows she was smart, and a bit lucky, to buy when she did. Caspe has seen friends and fellow artists move out of the neighborhood over the years because of rising rents and landlord pressure.
Caspe’s interest in biblical stories began in 2007, when she curated a show for the gallery at Tribeca Synagogue. The stories appeal to her because of their commentary on human nature, and, depending on the viewer’s perspective, her interpretations reveal either a cynical or frank view of humanity.
“I don’t think people have changed at all,” she said. “We’re just like we were in the cave.”
WILSON: When it comes to living styles, I'm very messy, and he's—well, it's not every day a man makes you take off your shoes and refuses to serve dark liquors at a party.
CASPE: I think everyone's fine with white wine and vodka. We don't need red wine on the white carpet.
WILSON: When David wanted someone to come help clean the house, I was concerned about the expense, but my friend shook me and said, "Casey, if you want to keep your marriage together, this will be your issue." It's important to David, so it was worth giving in.
WILSON:__ My dad always said that 90 percent of marital problems could be solved by getting your blood sugar up, and he's right! So I would say pick a partner who's forgiving when you have low blood sugar and threaten to drive your car through your shared home.
WILSON:__ David and I are incredibly different people. If we're in a couple's massage, I'll talk the entire time to the masseuse; meanwhile, he'd rather be alone in a steel chamber for life. [Laughs.]
CASPE: If it weren't for Casey, I'd stay in, watch TV, and order a cheeseburger. My life would be so boring. We center each other.
__DON'T EXPECT HIM TO BE YOUR GIRLFRIEND TOO.
WILSON:__ David's a doer—he wants to give advice or fix things. My girlfriends [let me] turn over every emotional detail for hours. I see them at least twice a week.
CASPE: I've had to realize that if she shares a problem, I'm not supposed to fix it.
__DO TALK ABOUT IF AND WHEN YOU'LL HAVE KIDS. (ALLOW WILSON AND CASPE TO DEMONSTRATE.)
WILSON:__ Years ago everyone asked when we were having kids. Now they're asking when we're adopting grandkids.
CASPE: My dad started saying, "You know, it's OK if she's pregnant at the wedding...."
WILSON: I'd love to have kids. My mom always worked, and I certainly don't want to look back and think, Well, I don't have kids, but I'm glad I did that sitcom.
CASPE: I'm ready too. At a certain point it feels like, What are we doing?
WILSON: Sitting in the hot tub with Bud Lights? Eh, I've had plenty of "me" time.
__DON'T GO CRAZY TRYING TO SPICE UP YOUR SEX LIFE.
WILSON:__ We can't improve on perfection. [Laughs.]
CASPE: Did the Mona Lisa change after she got married?
WILSON: Did they ask Michelangelo to remake David?
CASPE: No. It's a masterpiece. Leave it as is, married or single. [Laughs.]
CASPE:__ We're meeting with a financial planner to combine our money. It's an adjustment. For years it's been my money that I've worked for and spent, but now it's hers too. And hers is mine. I'm super proud of how hard Casey works.
WILSON: Maybe this is a good time to tell you I bought two speedboats. [Laughs.]
__DON'T TAKE YOUR FRIENDSHIP FOR GRANTED.
CASPE:__ As a kid, you weirdly picture a girlfriend as separate than a friend. But being with Casey, I realized a wife is the ultimate friend, and you also get to make sweet, sweet love together. [Laughs.]
