Solar PV developer Atlas Renewable Energy has secured US$510 million in financing for a solar-plus-storage project in Chile
This marks the largest financing agreement secured by the developer
which was signed with international banking institutions BNP Paribas
Crédit Agricole Corporate & Investment Bank
the Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and the Bank of Nova Scotia
Located in the Antofagasta region – which has one of the highest irradiation levels in the world – the Estepa project will be a hybrid system with an installed solar capacity of 215MW and two battery energy storage systems (BESS) with a 418MW output and 4-hour duration
Commercial operation of the solar-plus-storage project is expected at the end of 2026
Two long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) have been secured for the Estepa project with state-owned mining company Codelco and Chilean utility Colbun
This is not the first time Codelco and Atlas Renewable Energy have signed a PPA for a solar-plus-storage project in Chile, following the two companies’ signing of a 15-year 375GWh 24/7 supply agreement in March 2024
this marked the developer’s entrance into the BESS market
more than doubling the capacity curtailed in 2023
Along with Brazil, Chile is likely to remain one of the key drivers in South America for the growth of solar PV in the coming years. A report from analyst company Wood Mackenzie forecast 160GW of new solar PV capacity additions by 2034
with Brazil and Chile accounting for 78% of all PV installations in the region in the coming years
these two markets are expected to slow down the rate of solar PV installations due to ongoing challenges of curtailment and lagging transmission infrastructure
regional manager for Chile and the Southern Cone at Atlas Renewable Energy
said: “Not only is this our largest financing in history
The agreements we’ve reached with the country’s key players reflect our competitiveness in developing complex
Atlas Renewable Energy has also recently secured a PPA with Colbun for a 230MW/920MWh standalone BESS project in Antofagasta

CEO of The Journeys Group and a senior vice president of Genesco
Estepa’s exit plan was first mentioned in September
when Nashville-based Genesco named Mario Gallione president of the Journeys Group
which accounted for 41 percent of its $3 billion of 2016 revenues
That move was acknowledged at the time as the first formal step in a succession plan for Estepa
who joined Genesco in 1985 and was named Journeys president in 1999
Estepa will remain employed by Genesco as chairman emeritus of the Journeys Group and assist with the transition of his duties until June 30
senior VP and general merchandise manager of the company’s Little Burgundy brand
"Jim Estepa is a legend in the footwear industry and has been a driving force at Genesco for decades,” Dennis said in a statement
he has built the leading omnichannel retailer of footwear and accessories for teens and young adults in the United States and has championed our international growth through the successful acquisitions of Schuh and Little Burgundy […] While his leadership
and larger-than-life presence will inevitably be missed
he will leave the Journeys Group in good hands."
Investors appeared to take Tuesday’s news in stride. At about 1 p.m. Central, shares of Genesco (Ticker: GCO) were changing hands at $28.05

Sustainable design comes in many shapes and sizes
architect and furniture designer Guillermo Cameron Mac Lean looks to the concertina shape of musical instruments to create the Espina Pendant lamp
a collapsible pendant light for Spanish brand Estepa
Designed to take up as little space as possible
not only does the Espina Pendant reduce the amount of resources needed to ship the product but it also uses the least amount of material too
That’s because the Espina Pendant light employs a collapsible design
which allows it to be flat-packed and easily transformed by the user into its finished form
The lampshade itself is created from one sheet of plywood
helping to create a concertina effect when hung from the centre point of the sheet
which has been drilled for the cord and the light’s fixture to be secured.
In flatpack form
the lampshades circular form lies compact inside a square wooden frame
all the other necessary components such as the cord
the canopy and the pendant holder are all secured around the outer edges of the packaging
There’s also a handle cut out from one of the corners to enable users to pick up
It’s well documented the negative impact the transportation of goods such as furniture and lighting from the design industry is having on the planet
That’s why designers like Mac Clean are feeling the charge to come up with sustainable alternatives or innovative approaches to design that challenge the way we consume and experience everyday items.
The Espina Pendant Light is a prime example of how we can create less waste and help prevent overconsumption
all while helping to promote a simple and easily accessible product

we're prepping for what could be the biggest snowstorm to hit D.C
this winter (literally) while we wander lost in the dizzying world of lawsuits (figuratively)
it's just another Tuesday in the Trump administration
Read the latest, subscribe here and let's go
President Trump found himself at the center of two lawsuits that made news Tuesday
The first: Former Playboy model Karen McDougal filed suit against American Media Inc.
saying that an agreement she signed with the National Enquirer publisher prevented her from discussing the details of her alleged affair with Trump
made empty promises and repeatedly intimidated and manipulated me," McDougal said in a statement provided to USA TODAY
"I just want the opportunity to set the record straight and move on with my life
The second: A New York court ruled that former Apprentice contestant Summer Zervos would be allowed to move forward with a defamation lawsuit against Trump
the then-Republican nominee denied the allegations from the campaign trail
Trump's lawyers tried to have the suit dismissed
but the court found that Trump wasn't "above the law" — citing a case that opened the door for Bill Clinton's impeachment
It wasn't meWas Barack Obama's use of Facebook data in the 2012 presidential campaign comparable to the efforts of Cambridge Analytica
the firm tied to Donald Trump's 2016 campaign that harvested private information on tens of millions of users
Obama's campaign manager doesn't think so
"Cambridge Analytica obtained their data fraudulently
laundered through a researcher who paid people to install an app," Jim Messina wrote on Twitter
"The '12 campaign told voters what they were sharing and for what purpose
Conflating these two cases is misleading."
a researcher used a personality quiz app in 2014 to gain access to the data of 270,000 Facebook users
which may have allowed the researcher to access information on 50 million users
Obama's 2012 re-election campaign also collected data
but they did so through an app. More than 1 million Obama supporters signed up
which gave the campaign permission to look at their lists of friends

Jim Estepa has served as president and chief executive officer of The Journeys Group since November 2001
after having being named senior vice president of parent company Genesco in April 2000
Estepa joined Genesco in 1985 after more than 15 years of sales management experience with Kinney Shoe
He has held various positions within Genesco
including regional sales manager and director of operations for U.S
operations general manager of Jarman and senior vice president of operations for Genesco Retail
Post Managing Editor recently caught up with Estepa
You have completed 31 years of employment with Genesco and have been CEO of the company’s Journeys division since 1999
you could retire now and feel positive about it
How have things changed — both at the company and within your industry — during this time span
Beginning in 1986 with the first Journeys store in Rivergate Mall to becoming a global company with more than 1,300 stores in seven countries and seven concepts
we have continued to grow organically and through acquisition
only posting negative comp losses four years out of 30
We’ve achieved our success by staying relevant to our core consumer over three decades
We have always remained laser focused on our core consumer and delivering the very best customer experience
Being a house of brands allows us to ebb and flow with fashion
Our customer is extremely fickle when it comes to what’s hot and what’s not
We are a lifestyle brand rooted in the spirit of youth culture
The biggest change in our industry is the explosion of direct to consumer and omni-channel retailing
Not only do we compete now with online retailing
we also are competing with the brands we carry selling direct to consumer
We recognized the changing landscape early and committed to growing both our store comps and our online comps at the same time
Our goal is gaining market share across all shopping channels
and to not compromise the brick and mortar business to chase web sales
Our teen customer at Journeys still likes to shop in the mall frequently and wants immediate gratification
The vast majority of our teen customers research what they want on our mobile site then come to the store to purchase
most of our teen customers don’t have a credit card to complete the transaction online
Another major change in our industry is the healthy reduction of total mall square footage in the United States
we still have strong growth plans to open Journeys stores where and when it makes sense
You have direct involvement in many of the more than 1,160 Journeys stores
I understand you know many of the approximately 15,000 employees by name
I had the opportunity to attend each grand opening
when our store growth accelerated to 100 stores a year
our priority was to make sure the Journeys culture remained strong
One of our core values is to promote from within
which helps maintain and foster our culture as new employees join our company and existing managers take on new leadership roles
I don’t know the names of all our 15,000 employees
but I do my best to stay connected by traveling stores often
participating in employee meetings and through what’s called our ‘feedback’ button on our point of sale system
Anyone can send feedback to my leadership team and me daily
We review every bit of feedback and respond within a week
Whether you are a part-time employee or the COO
my door is always open and you can reach me directly
I make it a point to send birthday and anniversary messages by phone or email every morning
It’s the little things that make a big difference
We know teenagers and young adults live on their phone
We strive to serve our customers with the best Journeys experience in whichever commerce channel they choose to engage
they overwhelmingly still shop and purchase at our retail locations
we have evolved our business to serve the customer anywhere
anytime with our Journeys “attitude.” We strive to provide a consistent
excellent experience regardless if it’s in a store
sport Journeys clothing and shoe-wear just to have a personal feel for the products
I will be wearing shoes from a variety of our key brands in styles we carry
I have a pair of Converse Chuck Taylor All Star John Varvatos sneakers on right now
Our office culture and environment reflects our stores
one of our core values is about encouraging individuality and embracing diversity
What are some of your major goals for this calendar year
I get fired up when asked to share our vision on what’s going to drive our business this year
we will continue to grow our core Journeys business
We must continue to remain focused on our more than 815 Journeys stores in the United States
we will continue to grow our Journeys Kidz concept
we will also continue to grow our Canadian business with the Journeys concept and through our most recent acquisition of the Montreal-based retail chain Little Burgundy
We will continue to evolve and invest in our direct to consumer business
we will be supporting all our growth with an expanded distribution center in Lebanon
Nashville is seeing an increase in the companies that make and sell fashion
Omega Apparel opened a plant earlier this year
What is your take on the local fashion industry scene
I have been in Nashville for over 30 years and it’s exciting to see such explosive growth and attention on this amazing city
Journeys was born out of Nashville and is still headquartered here today
we just hosted our 30th anniversary event at the Music City Center and Omni Hotel
with Mayor Barry and the Founder of TOMS shoes
kicking off our big city-wide giving event
Even though we’ve gone from one store to a global brand
we find so much inspiration in our hometown
There’s no doubt that the fashion scene is gaining momentum
I believe we will continue to see our talented local artists and designers influence the fashion scene on a much broader
Let’s just say I think Nashville is just getting started and has so much to offer

fernando suárez corchete has completed the design of estepa bus station in the spanish city of seville
the scheme includes five bays for parked buses
as well as a ticket office and café
the sloping site has a profound height difference of almost three meters (10 feet) between its opposing corners
a characteristic that would later inform the realized building
all images by fernando alda
the design team began the project by carrying out an extensive analysis of the area, including its flow of traffic. configured as an island inserted within the existing urban fabric, suárez corchete’s design seeks to caters to the needs of both pedestrians and vehicles
as the site is positioned next to a busy junction
it was important to situate the station’s vehicular entrance and exit as far from the roundabout as possible
estepa bus station is located in the spanish city of seville
a concrete roof punctured with large skylights covers the terminal and its platforms at the lower edge of the site
a metallic lattice that displays the station’s name
offers lighting and cross ventilation from the south
a ramp providing pedestrian access negotiates the change in topography
the organization of the platforms not only allows passengers to board and disembark easily
but also creates small outdoor waiting areas
a simple layout places the ticket office and cafeteria at opposite ends of the structure
with the waiting room positioned between them
the building remains open to the platforms
and receives additional southern illumination as a result of the pedestrian ramp

Trump son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner no longer has access to some classified information
after his interim security clearance was downgraded
The move, confirmed Tuesday by officials, came as part of White House Chief of Staff John Kelly's revamping of the security clearance process
Kelly is working on improving the system after questions surfaced about the process when it was revealed staff secretary Rob Porter — who resigned earlier this month over domestic abuse allegations — did not have a full security clearance but continued to work closely with the president and had access to classified information
His full background check just has to be completed.

Jared Kushner, President Trump's adviser and son-in-law, used a private email address to conduct White House business, according to multiple news reports.
Others may have been involved in the practice
At least six of President Trump’s closest advisers – including Kushner
former chief of staff Reince Priebus and former chief strategist Steve Bannon – occasionally used private email addresses to discuss White House matters
The use of private email for government business has inspired some comparisons to the recent controversy over Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server while she was Secretary of State. But the situation isn't that straightforward
Kushner set up a private email account in December
after President Trump was elected but before he took office
told the news organization that there were fewer than 100 email exchanges between Kushner and other White House officials between January and August – and they largely originated because someone emailed Kushner's private email address instead of his White House address
The emails were "usually forwarded news articles or political commentary," Lowell said.
Kushner was reported to have traded emails with other White House staff including Priebus
Bannon and National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn
According to a later report from the Times, all those aides – plus Stephen Miller – also occasionally sent or received work emails from personal accounts.
Additionally, Politico reported that Kushner's wife
Emails published by watchdog group American Oversight show that Ivanka Trump used that email address to correspond with government officials
including the Small Business Administration's Linda McMahon
But that was before she officially started working at the White House at the end of March
The Presidential Records Act dictates the rules for White House employees to preserve their emails
Both acts were amended in 2014 to specify that
if an executive branch employee uses a private email address for official business
they must copy their official government accounts in the exchange – or forward any messages from their private accounts to their official account within 20 days
Lowell told Politico that Kushner had forwarded the private emails to his official account
Politico reported it could not verify that
If it's true, "what we're dealing with
is a violation of the Presidential Records Act," said Richard Painter
a law professor at the University of Minnesota and the vice chair of the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington board
disciplinary actions for failing to keep proper records as an employee of the executive branch could include suspension
said U.S. government employees have struggled with email protocol for as long as email has existed
He pointed to the Bush administration's own email scandal
used an email server run by the Republican National Committee to conduct official business
Their use of the private email addresses was uncovered during the investigation into the firing of U.S
computer technicians said they discovered some 22 million emails that Bush staff sent from those servers and could not provide investigators
"Democrats got all of upset and there was hooting and hollering — but no one ever said it was a crime," Painter said
Revelations Kushner used private email drew an outcry on social media given the more recent controversy surrounding Clinton.
The Trump campaign strongly criticized Democratic nominee Clinton during the 2016 presidential election for her use of a private email server when she was secretary of State – and chants of "lock her up" were pervasive at Trump rallies
The FBI investigated Clinton for her use of a private email server for government business and deletion of 33,000 emails
some information she sent to and from her private email was later deemed classified (though the information was not classified at the time.)
the FBI twice cleared Clinton of any wrongdoing: first in July 2016
just days before the presidential election.
Will there be legal action against the Trump administration? Probably
Various government watchdog groups will file lawsuits over the administration's email practices
president of the conservative legal group Judicial Watch
has repeatedly sued the State Department for documents and emails related to Clinton's email practices while she was secretary of State
While Fitton didn't say if his group would take legal action after the news of Kushner's emails, he called the use of private email addresses in government "poor practice."
"We need to make sure communications are captured and retained
asking that he "preserve all responsive documents
communications and other data" that may be required for oversight and investigations
Just a day after the Bush family announced that Barbara Bush was in failing health
her granddaughter described the former first lady as being in "great spirits."
"We are grateful for her," an emotional Jenna Bush Hager said on the TODAY show. "She is the best grandma anybody could have ever had or have. Barbara [Bush Hager's twin sister] and I talked to her last night
has declined further medical treatment for a life-threatening illness
after consulting with her family and friends
"She reminded me not to believe everything you read
for everybody’s prayers and thoughts
and just know the world is better because she’s in it."
She noted that her grandmother was with her grandfather
but I think the fact that they’re together in this and he still says
Barbie,’ every night is pretty remarkable," she said

Who is the most adorable dog on Capitol Hill
IJR is in the middle of its annual "Cutest Dogs on the Hill" contest
The competition has been narrowed down to 10 pets from an original roster of 25
The group will announce results of who is the cutest of the cute next week
While IJR wants to keep it under wraps about which dog belongs to who — you're supposed to vote with your gut
not because of who the dog's owner might be — there's still some fierce campaigning from some of the dogs' owners and fans, if Twitter is any indication

A number of organizations called for the resignation of Trump aide Sebastian Gorka
after reports that Gorka has ties to a far-right group in Hungary
The Forward reported Thursday that Gorka, President Trump's counter-terrorism adviser, is a formal member of Vitézi Rend, a group that is listed by the State Department as an organization that is under the direction of Nazi Germany
was established as a loyalist group by the admiral and nationalist who ruled over Hungary from 1920 to 1944
When contacted about The Forward's story by Buzzfeed
Gorka referred questions to the White House press office
The White House has not yet issued a statement on the story
A leader in the Historical Vitézi Rend confirmed to Buzzfeed that Gorka was a current member
Gorka denied the reports in an interview with Tablet magazine
"I have never been a member of the Vitez Rend," he told Tablet
"I have never taken an oath of loyalty to the Vitez Rend
I have occasionally worn my father’s medal and used the ‘v.’ initial to honor his struggle against totalitarianism.'"
Other reports have previously linked Gorka to Vitézi Rend
when he wore a medal said to be associated with the group
In a video released by Breitbart News in February
Gorka said the medal was awarded to his father in 1979 for "for his resistance to dictatorship." Wearing the medal reminds him of what his family suffered under the Nazis and under the Communists
"I wear that medal in remembrance of what my family went through and what it represents today
Prior to the publishing of Gorka's interview with Tablet
which has been critical of the Trump administration
"Sebastian Gorka must resign — and President Trump must make it happen," executive director Steven Goldstein said in a statement
"That Sebastian cannot even deny he has links with a Nazi-affiliated organization is symptomatic of the grotesque anti-Semitism that has infected the White House
How many ducks in the Trump White House must walk
talk and quack anti-Semitically before our country wakes up and sees the problem?"
"Donald Trump has repeatedly said that the United States needs to implement
'extreme vetting,' in order to determine if we should allow certain immigrants into our country," the group said in a statement
it seems like he failed to vet one of his most trusted advisers."
called Gorka's ties to Hungary's far right "extensive and troubling."
"The only reason he's anywhere near the White House is Steve Bannon
who has his own troubling associations with anti-Semitism," he said
"It's time for President Trump to take on anti-Semitism within the ranks of his administration and clean house."
tweeted at the president and White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer
"White House & Gorka's silence in response is deafening," the Jewish member of Congress said in a tweet
Prior to joining the Trump administration, Gorka worked for Stephen Bannon at Breitbart. According to his biography on the Institute for World Politics
he was born in the United Kingdom to parents who escaped Hungary during the country's 1956 revolution
It was Christmas 1999 when his mother was rescued from a sea mishap
He may be known to most as having graduated from Iloilo National Science High School – SSC and the University of Asia and the Pacific (BS Economics and MS Industrial Economics)
what some of his friends may recall more is a not-so-distant memory of his when he was 13 years old
his father and he were fervently praying for their mother’s rescue after a major sea mishap near Cebu that resulted in – out of more than 600 – around 58 passengers dead or lost at sea
Josemaria Escriva (nowadays freely downloadable from the Internet) given by Fr Roque Reyes
a priest of Opus Dei working in Iloilo City
the family celebrated a “Christmas” miracle when the mother safely returned soon after Christmas day
Fr Reyes especially recalled the happy phone call of Dante’s father to inform him that their agreement to say several prayer cards a day to St
Father Dante with his parents (left) and family friends at the Sancta Maria Stella Orients Chapel in UA&P
where he obtained a Master's degree in Industrial Economics
Reyes was to learn more about the incident much later on
Reyes moved to Manila and almost ten years later
he met a young man at an Opus Dei center who introduced himself as the same young Dante Estepa from years ago
who witnessed the priest give his father the prayer card
They discussed at length the circumstances of the rescue: the mother was adrift at sea all alone and with at least a life vest as protection; her calling the attention of a distant fisherman using some rope attached to some debris
Reyes found worth sharing the uncanny timing of the rescue back then
When asked what time the Coast Guard’s rescue happened
Dante’s mother had said it was sometime past noon
which coincided with the time that Fr Roque and Mr
Estepa agreed to pray the prayer card for the critical intention
Josemaria through the prayer card that his own father recited almost 20 years ago was not a mere coincidence
to work so that at the end of the day I’m tired but I’m happy
that’s what he wants us priests to do - to work hard but at the same time
not losing that joy that we have as priests.”
Father Dante before his ordination in 2017
