Igor Omura Fraga, the inaugural champion of the Gran Turismo World Series (2018), has amazingly bridged the worlds of virtual and real-life motorsport, establishing a distinguished career in international formula racing. This season, he will compete as a full-time driver for PONOS NAKAJIMA RACING in the All-Japan Super Formula Championship, the premier formula racing series in Asia.
To celebrate this occasion, we have released the PONOS NAKAJIMA RACING livery used this season by Igor Fraga as a Style in Gran Turismo 7.

Of all the rookies in this year’s Super Formula field, arguably none faces a tougher task filling the shoes of the driver whose seat they have taken than Igor Fraga.
Born in Japan to Brazilian parents, Fraga returned to the country in 2022 after his ‘first’ career on the European single-seater ladder hit the rocks. Having spent last year as a reserve driver for PONOS Nakajima Racing, he has stepped up to a race drive following Naoki Yamamoto’s decision to step away from Super Formula at the end of last season.
Having impressed in off-season testing, expectations are high for Fraga as he embarks on his maiden Super Formula campaign with one of the category’s most famous teams.
“I’m definitely really happy to be on the Super Formula grid,” says Fraga. “It’s been something I’ve been working hard on for the past few years. But at the same time, it’s only the beginning so I have to make sure I am prepared to deliver the results.
“It’s a big opportunity and I believe it can lead to other chances if I have a good season. It’s a turning point for me and I have to focus on using this opportunity that I have.”
Almost as well-known for his exploits in the virtual racing world as the real one, Gran Turismo esports star Fraga has taken an unconventional route to a Super Formula drive, but his CV is far from lacking. In early 2020, he beat a trio of future Formula 1 racers – Liam Lawson, Yuki Tsunoda and Franco Colapinto – to title glory in the Toyota Racing Series.
That momentum was lost with a difficult season in FIA F3 with an uncompetitive team, and while he had secured a more competitive berth for 2021, the withdrawal of a sponsor amid the COVID-19 pandemic forced Fraga on to the sidelines.
Until he tested for B-Max Racing in late 2022 ahead of the 2023 Super Formula Lights season, Fraga went 18 months driving only on Gran Turismo, the platform that had propelled him to esports fame when he won the inaugural Nations Cup title in 2018.
“I had been looking at Japan for some time,” reflects Fraga, who speaks fluent Japanese on top of English, Portuguese and some Spanish. “And with Gran Turismo being based in Japan, we knew we might be able to figure something out there, so we made the decision to move once the borders reopened [after the pandemic], which took a long time!
“Even though I was born in Japan and I lived there for 12 years, my mother, who is a Nikkei Brazilian, never became a full Japanese citizen so I had to start the process from zero, basically. Everything was a lot different because I used to live in Kanazawa in Ishikawa Prefecture, which is on the opposite side of Japan to Tokyo.
“I started completely afresh in Tokyo and it was a big challenge. But at least the language helped a lot, so I was able to communicate and that made things easier to sort out.”
Fraga endured a season of mixed fortunes in Super Formula Lights as he finished fourth in the standings with a single win at Sugo. “The beginning of the season was difficult because a lot of the testing was wet, so we couldn’t play much with the set-up and it took us until the final two rounds of the season to get the car in the sweet spot,” summarises Fraga.
But instead of staying for a second season of Lights in 2024, Fraga made the unusual decision to join Nakajima as a reserve driver, with the opportunity having come up to test a Super Formula car in place at Suzuka of an injured Yamamoto at the end of 2023.
“From my side, spending a year as a reserve driver, even though it was not something I was keen to do at the beginning, I learned a lot – especially being able to speak to the engineers and the mechanics,” says Fraga of his decision, noting that it made his life much easier when he tested again for Nakajima at Suzuka at the end of last season.
If that second Suzuka run for Nakajima was a final audition to replace Yamamoto, he passed it with flying colours, setting the fifth-fastest time of the test overall and topping the final day for rookies only. February’s snow-impacted pre-season test at the same track was tougher, ending with an off at Turn 2, but that setback doesn’t appear to have dented his confidence.
“Of course I always believed in my capabilities. I’ve been in many championships in difficult situations and I’ve delivered results in many of them,” says Fraga. “If everything is right I know I can be up there, but then I still have to get the experience to ensure that the car is in the right operating window in any conditions.”
On his targets for the upcoming season, Fraga adds: “I’m not thinking too much in terms of the championship overall. But my personal goal is to be always consistently in the top 10 and scoring points, and perhaps if we have one or two race weekends when the car is more competitive, when that chance comes, I really want to make use of it.”
In any case, Fraga will have a useful benchmark in the other side of the Nakajima garage in the form of Ren Sato, who is going into his third season with the team. As reserve driver, Fraga was able to study Sato up close last year, so he knows exactly what he’s up against.
“ It was amazing to see how Ren drives – he uses very little brake, he just throws in the car into the corner and maintains the speed,” explains Fraga. “A lot of the time it works; in qualifying runs he always fully sends it, and it’s amazing to see it.
“Definitely the goal is to be close to him. Both cars were competitive in qualifying last year, so I know that if I am close to him, I will have chances to score points most of the time.”
Fraga is aware of the scale of the opportunity he has been handed, and his determination to make the most of it is clear. He’ll face tough competition for Rookie of the Year honours, but both his past success and his testing speed suggests that he’s more than up to the task.

botany) watches her step carefully as she scopes out the landscape for wildflowers
She is careful not to trample any plants that may be at risk of extinction
In her role as a botanist with the California Botanic Garden
Fraga has researched countless varieties of plants and even discovered a rare wildflower
The one-time behavioral studies major once found herself uninspired and longing for a different career path
It wasn’t until Fraga volunteered at the Claremont-based garden that she knew botany was her true calling
there was something about the field and the kind of information I was learning that fit with my brain and my interests,” Fraga said
Fraga lacked guidance and yearned for mentorship
who inspired her to pursue her dream further
He advised her to pursue a role at the CPP Herbarium
where she helped curate a collection of dried press plants
organize them and enter information into a spreadsheet
“That helped me get experience that then transferred to my first paid internship at the California Botanic Garden,” Fraga said
Her role at the garden consisted of transcribing the different plant information components into a digital database that would eventually be available online to other researchers
a technological advancement that helped many learn about plants with the click of a button
“Now all that information is available at your fingertips
and you can just do a quick search on the internet and look up any plant species and make a map of where that plant grows in the world,” Fraga said
“You couldn't do that when I first started because none of that information was in a digital database.”
Fraga’s journey did not stop at graduation from CPP
She also earned her master’s and PhD in botany at Claremont Graduate University
Her curiosity about plants and her desire to explore natural environments for endangered plant species continued throughout her education
helping her land a full-time position at the California Botanic Garden
She took it back to the botanic garden and looked at its different components
she could not find it documented in the library of plants — she had just discovered a new species
The annual species occurs in very specific areas
and can be visually identified as a yellow flower with tiny red dots.
Fraga’s desire to work with wildflowers over other plant species can be linked to one specific quality – their beauty
“They are really beautiful and are essential components of habitats,” Fraga said
“One of the things I finally learned once I became a botanist was how incredibly diverse the plants of California are
It's the place in the United States with the most species of plants compared to any other state
and a large percentage of them are these wildflowers.”
Fraga encourages people who have not explored the nature surrounding them to do so and to familiarize themselves with California native plants
Plants also are important because they contribute to the recovery of the ecosystem
reflecting on the wildfires affecting Southern California
Although Fraga has grown to be a very successful botanist
Being a woman of color in a predominantly male-dominated field taught her the power of perseverance
“There definitely have been times where people didn't necessarily believe in me or my abilities
and so I just had to kind of put my head down and work very hard and show people what I could do,” Fraga said
“It was through quiet hard work and also having mentors that were very supportive and helped guide me along the way that eventually I was able to get to where I am today.”
Fraga hopes to be a figure of support for others pursuing her field of work
She encourages students to get a head start and apply to the California Botanic Garden internships available seasonally

Gran Turismo-backed Igor Fraga buoyed as Anest Iwata Racing teams up with Gainer after splitting with Arnage Racing…
Igor Fraga says Lexus SUPER GT squad Anest Iwata Racing feels like a “completely new team” this year following the end of its partnership with Arnage Racing
It was revealed last December that Anest Iwata and Arnage, which had jointly fielded a Lexus RC F GT3 in the GT300 class for the past two seasons, would go their separate ways as the former forged ahead with plans to create its own structure
Anest Iwata has teamed up with Gainer — which also fields a Nissan Z — to run the renumbered No
with Fraga staying on board for a third season at the team alongside new veteran teammate Hironobu Yasuda
Taking over as chief engineer is Norimitsu Yoshida
who is known for his work with the Dandelion Racing team in Super Formula
While the chassis is unchanged from the previous year
the engine and gearbox are new and the car itself has been refreshed ahead of this week’s opening round at Okayama
“The feeling of the car is better compared to last year,” Fraga told Sportscar365
“The team has changed quite drastically
so there are still some things we need to sort out
but we have more chance to show better performance this year
Compared to last year there are only two or three people inside the team who are the same
“We have great engineers and even the mechanics are top level
so it’s just about sorting out the operations to make sure we maximize the performance
“For me it’s also a good experience to pair up with Yasuda-san
because he has so much experience of SUPER GT itself and also the Yokohama tire as he was the development driver
So there are a lot of good inputs coming from his side.”
Although official testing has been impacted by bad weather
26 Lexus’s potential when he set a best time of 1:25.395 on the second day of a private test at Okayama
faster than the best time from the official test the same week
The Brazilian driver has set himself the goal of a first podium finish
having so far claimed a best finish of seventh in 2023 since joining SUPER GT
“It has to be better this year,” said Fraga
“It’s a super-difficult series
but the team is much more experienced this season and I believe we can deliver some good results
But the real goal for me is to be on the podium at least once.”
Masami Kunii, whose Super Licence organization co-runs the team, said that the decision to join forces with Gainer came about after it signed Yasuda, who used to race for the team until the end of 2023
“Anest Iwata has decided that it will make its own factory
but in the end it wasn’t ready in time for this season
we decided we would ask Gainer to help us with car maintenance this year,” explained Kunii
“Preparations on the factory are ongoing
and it should be ready by the end of the year.”
Kunii also expressed hopes of putting together a stronger season after a disappointing 2024 campaign that yielded no top-ten finishes
“Having Yasuda-san on the team has really helped deepen our understanding of the tires,” he said
“There’s a lot we still have to do
but it feels like we can fight now.”

Victor Fraga discusses interviewing social realist filmmaker Ken Loach and former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn in his film 'The Bad Patriots.'
In this exclusive interview, Fraga—also the founder of indie film publication Dirty Movies—shares insights into his new project
which collaborates with social realist filmmaker Ken Loach and former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn
He also delves into his unyielding commitment to challenging the myth of “balance” in the British media
“that the same shocking manipulation and censorship tactics I witnessed in Brazil are now rampant in the UK
and other so-called ‘developed’ nations
Perhaps we’re not as developed as we like to think.”
What inspired you to create The Bad Patriots
and what personal connections do you have to its topics
Victor Fraga: I had previously made a film about media manipulation and censorship in Brazil
this topic has been close to my heart for a long time
I realized that—contrary to belief—the UK is not quite a role model of media balance and democracy
The manipulation techniques are far more sophisticated here
when he was the Leader of the Labour Party
and I was campaigning against the coup that removed President Dilma Rousseff in Brazil
Jeremy has a close and personal association with Latin America
consistently visiting the continent and campaigning for international solidarity
He identified himself with my film so much that we did four or five panels together and became very close
So Jeremy and I insisted that he join the untitled The Bad Patriots
You’ve mentioned witnessing the collapse of democracy in Brazil and the mainstream media’s role in that process
How has this experience shaped your understanding of media’s influence in the UK
particularly regarding figures like Ken Loach and Jeremy Corbyn
and where I have resided for roughly a quarter of a century
These two films resulted from my activist and artistic commitment to both nations
My experience with both countries is constant; one does not come after the other
I am intimately and consistently connected with both
I think I’m well-informed and have connections to influential personalities on both sides of the Atlantic
so I can comment on and compare the two countries
Your films often explore themes of character assassination and censorship
How do you think the narratives around Loach and Corbyn serve as a microcosm of broader societal issues regarding free speech and dissent
VF: Loach and Corbyn are much more vulnerable than the average citizen because they are well-known
Corbyn points out in the film that it’s much easier to attack individuals than ideas
The average British person might suffer micro gestures of censorship or perhaps even lose their job due to their political inclinations (in more extreme cases)
Very few people are subject to character assassination
and lawfare to the same extent as Ken and Jeremy
The attacks are so fierce that despite being such outspoken and courageous people
Can you explain the central thesis of the documentary
VF: The film’s central thesis is that the British media are highly biased and hostile to voices vaguely critical of capitalism and the establishment
Yet my political views and those of Corbyn and Loach are often viewed as “extremist.”
I set out to bust the myth of media balance in the British media
the facile pseudo-patriotism disseminated by the British establishment (including Keir Starmer’s rotten Labour Party)
How did you approach the research for this film
particularly in gathering diverse perspectives on Ken Loach and Jeremy Corbyn
and I met a few weeks before the shooting (which was done in a single day)
and I asked them to collate anecdotes of media bias and censorship to which they were subjected
I researched newspaper articles that demeaned and insulted Ken and Jeremy – which wasn’t a particularly difficult job
There’s so much hate against these guys out there
which helped me structure the movie with his clips
I would call it politically audacious yet aesthetically unpretentious (I’m not embarrassed by my microbudget and by exposing the informality of the movie
which I intentionally chose to leave in the film)
What were some of the biggest challenges you faced while filming
especially regarding accessing sources or differing viewpoints
We are super grateful to our friends at Sands Studios
who provided their incredible facilities in kind
Christine Edzard and Olivier Stockman are committed to activist cinema—films that make a difference
Were there any surprising revelations or moments during the production that changed your perspective on the subjects
VF: The most significant change came during post-production
and Israel retaliated with the most shocking genocide in modern history
I decided to make it much more prominent and close the movie with a pertinent reflection
There were no major surprises during the filming
some of the anecdotes are hilarious in their absurdity
such as comparing The Wind That Shakes the Barley to Mein Kampf and Jeremt Corbyn riding a Mao Zedong bike
Are there any particular moments in the documentary that resonate most strongly with the audience
the part on Britain’s inability to self-reflect and recognize its past atrocities (the British Empire)
The tub-thumping patriotism that our media disseminates is perhaps the most significant root cause for the defamation of progressive voices
Those who dare to challenge the establishment and refuse jingoism are not traitors
Quite the opposite: they are the ones who care about the average citizen
Are there other topics or themes you’re interested in exploring next
VF: I am currently a producer on a much larger project for a well-known filmmaker
And I’m working on the third movie in the Dirty Media trilogy (the first two being The Coup d’Etat Factory and The Bad Patriots)
It features a very outspoken and energized Noam Chomsky in his penultimate interview before health issues prevented him from talking and writing
a dinner was held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Penya Barcelonista de Fraga i Comarca Jaume Pallarés

and former player and Barça Players Association member Paco Martínez
the new premises of the penya were officially opened
with Joan Laporta leading the FC Barcelona delegation
and President Laporta signed the town’s Book of Honour
The group then proceeded to the Sotet Pavilion
and there were also words from Claudi Bosch

there was a ceremonial cutting of the cake and a group photo
Doral Mayor Christi Fraga is facing state-level complaints for incorrectly claiming endorsements from the Republican Party of Miami-Dade County
The party’s Chair suggested it’s due to a misunderstanding
The complaints cite an Oct. 18 report by The Floridian that Fraga made social media posts announcing a county Republican Party endorsement of her and a mailer
“As a career politician who has held multiple public offices
Christi Fraga should know better than to claim an endorsement she never earned or received
but it is also a malicious attempt to deceive voters,” Spangaro said in a statement
adding that Fraga should issue a retraction and apologize to Doral voters and her campaign donors “for using their money to spread her lies.”
Fraga has since deleted the posts from her X and Instagram accounts
Florida Politics contacted her for comment Friday
but did not receive a response by press time
This report will be updated if we receive one
Florida Statutes prohibit candidates from claiming endorsements without written approval from the endorsing person or organization
Hialeah Rep. Alex Rizo, Chair of the Miami-Dade Republican Executive Committee
said state party rules bar endorsements in races with multiple Republican candidates
Exceptions are permitted with approval by 60% of the endorsing body or two-thirds of the members present for a vote
Fraga, a former Miami-Dade School Board member, is running for a second term as Mayor. She faces Roxanna Garay, a fellow Republican and former supporter whom she has significantly outraised
“When I talked to her after seeing that she (claimed an endorsement from the party)
I thought that since I was an incumbent (the party would endorse me).’ We took a position that we were not going to endorse any Republican that was running against another Republican,” Rizo told Florida Politics
An investigation into a similar issue is ongoing in Monroe County
Ron DeSantis authorized State Attorney Amira Fox of the 20th Judicial Circuit to conduct a probe into accusations of election fraud and unlawful disbursement of funds
At issue is an endorsement and $20,000 donation the Republican Party of Monroe gave its Treasurer
who is running for Supervisor of Elections
At the time the endorsement and contribution were made
The Monroe Republican Executive Committee took a vote before backing her
but some party members complained the vote did not exceed the threshold necessary to approve the endorsement

incumbent Rafael Pineyro faces challenger Ivette Gonzalez Petkovich
Nicole Reinoso and Irina Vilariño are competing to succeed Vice Mayor Oscar Puig-Corve

Patriotism is a term that is widely invoked in political discourse, but what does it truly mean to be a patriot? In an era where media narratives shape public perception, Victor Fraga’s The Bad Patriots confronts the weaponisation of patriotism and exposes the systematic silencing of progressive voices
As the second instalment in Fraga’s Dirty Media trilogy
this documentary investigates the role of the press in manipulating public opinion and discrediting political dissent
where former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and filmmaker Ken Loach have been relentlessly vilified by the British media
their true “crime” is advocating for the working class and challenging entrenched power structures
The Bad Patriots draws compelling parallels between Britain
revealing a global strategy of media-driven political suppression
Fraga discusses the inspiration behind the film
the role of social media in shaping narratives
and the growing threat of media censorship
he not only aims to reclaim Corbyn’s and Loach’s reputations but also to spark a wider conversation about who controls the media—and
The Bad Patriots is the second in my dirty media trilogy
And it reveals the media manipulation tactics that led to the successive coup d’etats in Brazil
I became close to Jeremy Corbyn as I showcased my film around the UK
and he recognised that many of the smear tactics were used on him
Jeremy and I approached Ken Loach together
Jeremy Corbyn and Ken Loach are consistently accused of being left-wing extremists
What they lack is the jingoistic notion of patriotism that the far right
and even the current Labour government promote
Jeremy and Ken are the best patriots because they care about the ordinary citizen
instead of engaging in the all-too-familiar flag-shagging rituals
Jeremy describes patriotism in the film as caring about your fellow citizens
although I have serious reservations about any patriotism
The media routinely paints bad patriots to smear
and erasing voices that dare to question the status quo
The global media likes to paint socialists as extremists
Most media groups are owned by billionaires
and they are terrified that a left-leaning government will make them pay their taxes
the mainstream media serves the interests of the employers
With people like Bolsonaro and Donald Trump in power
They are so unhinged and hostile towards press freedoms that the mainstream media do not align with their agenda as they would with a more traditional right-wing government
Leaders with an authoritarian verve represent an existential threat to the mainstream media
so they tend to prefer more moderate figures
pro-Palestine voice in an extremely conservative country
The ruling classes were terrified that he could come to power
He explained in the film that unidentified army commanders had said that they would not take orders from Corbyn should he ever become PM
as we learned from the Cambridge Analytica scandal
alternative news outlets have very little clout
and Jornalistas Livres have played a significant role in shifting public perception (towards the left)
It is also important to highlight that The Bad Patriots itself has been subjected to two shocking gestures of censorship
I hope that my film will help Jeremy and Ken reclaim their reputation
They have both been consistently accused of extremism and antisemitism
I hope viewers will realise that these two individuals are integral human beings
victims of unrelenting smear (particularly Jeremy)
I think that he would have attempted to implement media balance regulations
as they could easily be misused by an autocratic government
I’m working on my fifth film and my first fiction short
while seeking funds for my first feature fiction
And I’m finalising the third and final film the the dirty media trilogy
and it has an interview with Noam Chomsky as its main pillar
I was the penultimate person to interview Chomsky
a week before he had the stroke that left him unable to communicate
he sent me an e-mail: “What a lift it was talking to someone sensible.” That made me realise that I have an important mission in my hands and that I have to do a decent film honoring his legacy
Victor Fraga is a British-Brazilian journalist and filmmaker
leading independent film publications in the UK and Europe and also a production company
He has previously directed a feature documentary (The Coup d'Etat Factory
2021) and a short documentary (The Flour Test
both screened in festivals across the globe
Both documentaries are provocative activist films
The Coup d'Etat Factory also deals with the topic of media manipulation and slander
which premiered in the Panorama section of the Berlinale
The Visitor is a sexually explicit and hyperpolitical remake of Pasolini's Theorem
the UK premiere of The Bad Patriots at BFI Southbank on April 29th has been upgraded to the venue's largest cinema room to accommodate overwhelming demand
Doral Mayor Christi Fraga won four more years in office Tuesday, defeating her challenger by a landslide reminiscent of Miami Mayor Francis Suarez’s resounding re-election victory three years ago
With early and mail-in ballots fully counted and all 12 precincts reporting
Fraga scored 79.2% of the vote to beat Roxanna Garay
whom she outraised more than 70 times over
“THANK YOU DORAL!” Fraga wrote in a Wednesday morning post on X
“Thank you for all the support you have given me
it is my honor to serve you for 4 more years!”
Also re-elected was City Council member Rafael Pineyro
an ally of Fraga’s who also held a major funding edge over his lone opponent
Pineyro kept his Seat 1 post with 60% of the vote
“Grateful for the trust and support from the Doral community!” he wrote on Instagram late Tuesday
and I’m honored to continue serving for four more years
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who voted and to my amazing volunteers for their unwavering dedication
The race for the right to succeed Vice Mayor Oscar Puig-Corve in Seat 3 is heading to a runoff after none of three candidates captured more than half the total vote count to win outright
It’s the end of the road for now for third-place Irina Vilariño
to improve public safety and the quality of life for residents
advocate for low-impact development and effective traffic solutions
and to fight political corruption and government mismanagement
She was in the news again last week after a Doral resident filed a pair of complaints with the Division of Elections over her errant claim that the Republican Party of Miami-Dade County had endorsed her
a 37-year-old fellow Republican and former supporter of Fraga’s
Her campaign website said she was “fully committed to serving our community with unwavering dedication to faith-based principles.” She wanted to “promote unity and transparency” while working “tirelessly toward building a more sustainable and smarter city.”
She told the Miami Herald that scoring 21% of the vote felt something like a win
adding that she was already thinking of a 2026 run for the City Council
Martinez took 11.6% after raising less than 1% of the incumbent’s haul
He stacked $103,700 and spent $81,300 through the end of last month
Petkovich raised $14,200 and had about $4,300 left less than a week before Election Day
Doral voters also weighed in on 10 proposed city charter amendments
The two they rejected would have changed the city’s government from a Mayor-Council-Manager form to Council-Manager and made the Doral Charter Revision Commission conduct a review every 10 years instead of the current five-year rate
— Give the City Council power to create and organize committees
a change from the current arrangement in which the Mayor does so with Council approval
— Require Council approval of mayoral actions involving other governments
— Assign the power to hire Doral’s City Manager to the City Council
based on recommendations from a search committee
instead of having the Mayor nominate someone whom the Council must confirm
— Give the Mayor and Council members equal power to appoint a member each to five-seat city boards and agencies
replacing a current process in which the Mayor appoints them all
— Replace the Office of Charter Enforcement with an Office of Inspector General
review and investigate city spending contracts and programs
— Require people who serve two consecutive terms as Mayor to be out of office for four years before running for the City Council
— Cap the Mayor’s compensation at the current rate of $77,587 and pay for Council members at 30% less that ($54,311)
rather than use the prior formula of paying the Mayor and Council members a base salary of $50,000 and $12,000

(WOWT) - A 32-year-old Omaha man is facing several charges after a woman noticed her debit card had been compromised back in July
Wiliam Rodriguez-Fraga was in court Tuesday afternoon
Because she hadn‘t been regularly monitoring her credit card bills
the victim didn’t notice the issue for several months
reporting it to the Douglas County Sheriff‘s Office in September
She said then that she thought the card had been skimmed at a grocery store gas pump purchase in early July
Court documents show that in that timespan
she had identified 11 unauthorized uses of her card over that time — all of them used to buy large quantities of diesel fuel
An investigator reviewed camera recordings and believed all the suspected transactions were made same man
one of those vehicles belongs to Rodriguez-Fraga
a DCSO deputy was dispatched to another report of unauthorized use of a financial transaction device by another victim
That victim told authorities that a fleet fuel card for her business — which was still in her possession — had been used for 17 unauthorized transactions
The investigator reviewed camera video from several Hy-Vee gas stations and saw same man repeatedly filling 8-10 portable gas cans with diesel fuel
then placing them in a pickup with a Florida plate registered to Rodriguez-Fraga
A search warrant was conducted on Rodriguez-Fraga’s apartment near 108th Street and Maple Road on Thursday
Documents show investigators found 43 Walmart cash cards
11 chip debit/credit card blanks with no names imprinted on them
a credit card reader/writer used to decode banking data on blank cards
Rodriguez-Fraga allegedly admitted to using the credit cards that did not belong to him; and claimed he found about 20 of them in a man’s wallet in a gas station bathroom
The investigator found cards belonging to 48 people
but Rodriguez-Fraga offered authorities no explanation for that
Rodriguez-Fraga is due back in court for a preliminary hearing Dec
they were doing $100-$150 at a time for transactions specifically with cards that did not require a pin code,” said Douglas County Deputy Michael DeChellis
“Because they did not have the hardware in place in a manner that would allow them to capture those pin codes.”
DeChellis tells 6 news Rodriquez-Fraga’s operations would vary
“Somtimes it would be two or three times a week sometimes two or three times in a day”
Similar skimming devices are placed over card readers and gas pumps with double sided tape
“Its pressed on as a overlay over the card reader,” explained Dechellis
“They are described as skimmers because that is what they are doing
They are not preventing the transaction from going through
they are just reading the magnetic strip as the device passes through.”
theses crimes are committed by fraud groups from overseas
“They are brought in illegally for a period of time,” said DeChellis
“They drive around the country committing these crimes and assuming they do not get arrested they probably leave
In this instance because it was a local group it gave us a little bit more ability to take action on it.”
He says that fraud group has a history in the county
“We had atleast a half a dozen cases a year and a half or so ago and then it just started back up this summer into the fall,” said DeChellis
Douglas County Sheriffs are working alongside neighboring agencies and homeland security to crack down on this type of crime
inform local law enforcement and contact your bank
DeChellis says employees at the gas stations are not involved with the crimes

Gran Turismo Esports star Igor Fraga claimed his maiden podium in Super Formula over the weekend at Motegi
Yuki Tsunoda and Franco Colapinto on the way to the 2020 Toyota Racing Series title
secured a podium in only his third Super Formula race
Super Formula is second only to Formula 1 in terms of car speed and has long been a proving ground for future F1 talent
Stoffel Vandoorne and the aforementioned Lawson among its alumni
Fraga held his nerve at the start to briefly lead towards Turn 1
He ran wide on exit but settled back into second position for the first few laps
Fraga was gazumped by the early-stopping Kakunoshin Ohta and demoted to third
finishing a few tenths off P2 and only around four seconds from victory
in what is already turning out to be an impressive debut season
He followed up this rostrum with a subdued ninth in the second race, but a GT300 podium in Super GT at Okayama the previous weekend means Fraga is very much finding his form at the very top level of motorsport
The Brazilian has dovetailed his motorsport ambitions with a virtual racing career too, winning the inaugural Gran Turismo Nations Cup championship in 2018, followed by further success in Polyphony Digital-sanctioned series in 2020, 2022 and 2024
Although progress faltered after an ill-starred Formula 3 campaign
which was followed by his removal from Red Bull’s junior ranks and a loss of funding
Fraga used esports to keep himself sharp as COVID-19 hit
Once borders began opening up again, Fraga moved to Japan permanently in 2022. He then secured a Super GT drive for 2023 alongside a Super Formula Lights seat, thanks to the backing of Gran Turismo and personal sponsor Fanatec (notably, Fraga is one of the few esports athletes it retained throughout its recent financial troubles)
Japan-born Fraga claimed a reserve driver role with the Ponos Nakajima Racing in Super Formula
finishing as the quickest driver in the season-ending rookie test
His impressive pace and the retirement of three-time champion Naoki Yamamoto led to a 2025 race seat opportunity
with Fraga lying sixth in the Drivers’ championship after four races
The Ishikawa driver has enjoyed patronage from Gran Turismo for the majority of his career
contains significant grassroots racing experience
including several karting titles and the 2017 Formula 3 Brasil Academy Class title
you wouldn’t bet against him becoming a regular Super Formula frontrunner
there may still be time to dream about joining the likes of Lawson and Tsunoda in F1…

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem announced on February 1 that the Donald Trump administration would terminate the 2023 designation of Venezuelans for Temporary Protected Status (TPS)
setting April 7 as the end date for those reached by the program
nearly 350,000 Venezuelans who obtained work permits through that measure are set to lose the protections and could be deported after
Further hundreds of thousands who got the benefit in 2021 could face the same fate in September
"I completely disagree with the Secretary of Homeland Security," said City of Doral Mayor Christi Fraga to The Latin Times in an exclusive interview
"There is no evidence that conditions in Venezuela have improved
"The perfect example of this was the outcome of the July 28 elections
where the people's voice was not respected and democracy was disregarded
Maduro is an usurper and must step down to allow the rightful president of Venezuela
That is the number one piece of evidence that conditions in Venezuela have not improved," she said
Fraga is not opposed to Trump's deportation operation and blames the Biden administration for "allowing anyone to enter the border without knowing who they were," claiming Trump is working toward "protecting our border and American families."
However, as the mayor of the largest Venezuelan community in the country and the daughter of Cuban immigrants herself, Fraga is defending the right of many Venezuelans to remain in the country, going as far as to reach out to the president himself through a series of letters posted on her Instagram account
They explain that "many TPS holders are not part of this crisis," urging Trump to "consider a solution that allows for proper vetting and accountability while providing a pathway for those who have followed the rules and wish to remain lawful contributors to our nation."
"It is important to bring recognition to those cases—people who have been productive members of our society and who came here with a status
These are not people who entered illegally
They are people who came with legal status and obtained TPS because it was a vehicle the government allowed them to use for temporary status," Fraga told The Latin Times
The mayor went on to say that she believes there should be a "review" of TPS applications
because there are many families experiencing great anxiety
I empathize with them because they don't know what will happen next and they don't want to be here illegally
and know no other home but the United States," she said
claiming the measure will create "unnecessary instability for families and businesses."
A post shared by instagram
Fraga said she has had conversations with federal lawmakers and "they are all working in Washington on a new mechanism that would give Venezuelans the ability to apply for that temporary status while a long-term solution is determined." She did clarify that she can't "guarantee anything" because she is not a federal legislator
but "what we can do is help advocate for those people we know are part of our community
"Doral is a perfect example of people who have made a community their home
encouraging them to follow the laws and the order
I think we can all agree that people who do not follow our laws
and who entered illegally should be removed," Fraga added
The mayor finished by speaking from a personal point of view and as a Latina
describing the issue as a "matter of empathy." "I could tell you thousands of stories from Doral
specific examples of people who know no other home
who have children that came here as toddlers and are now pre-teens
who arrived with a visa and later applied for TPS
They feel like they are all being painted with the same broad brush."
and that makes me sad because these are people who have helped develop the community I currently lead
There are many stories of people whom I believe it would be inhumane to send back to Venezuela given the conditions in the country
She concluded by claiming she deems it important to use her voice
"just as I used it to promote the Republican platform which I believe in." "This is part of that platform because I believe we must fight against the conditions of the dictatorship in Venezuela
we cannot allow certain people—who do not deserve this kind of treatment—to be treated this way."

Former President Donald Trump had an awkward moment at a recent Latino summit in Doral
when he failed to recognize Doral Mayor Christi Fraga

"Right here," prompting laughter from the audience

Thank you so much for everything," Trump said
emphasizing his administration's economic record and how he believes it benefited the Hispanic community more than the current Biden administration

Trump argued that his policies led to stronger economic growth for Hispanic Americans
Florida Republicans, including Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and U.S. Senator Rick Scott
highlighted Trump's past support for the Hispanic community
said that Trump is the best candidate to handle conflicts in Latin America and combat dictatorial regimes
from which many families in the audience had fled
During his two-hour appearance, Trump also criticized Vice President Kamala Harris
his Democratic presidential election opponent
This followed Harris' remarks portraying Trump as "exhausted" after canceling several interviews

"It's actually quite good out of the can," he said
Unanue expressed his frustration with Harris and the Biden administration

They asked for God's protection and strength for Trump
Miami is home to one of the largest Hispanic populations in the U.S.
with about 70 percent of Miami-Dade County's residents identifying as Hispanic
Trump has heavily focused on appealing to young male voters

DORAL
Christi Fraga won a special runoff election to become Doral’s first female mayor
Now she is running for reelection and facing a challenge from a former supporter
Speaking to Local 10 News’ Christina Vazquez
Fraga drilled down on her ideas to tackle what the businesswoman and former councilmember calls a major quality of life issue in Doral: traffic
“I have a background in finance and accounting
specializing in real estate acquisition,” she said
“Nowadays you are seeing more and more people choosing to live where they work
however in the meantime we do have to make more responsible decisions in development and traffic solutions
We are looking at re-designing our trolley routes
more efficient otherwise people won’t use it.”
“I have heard you say publicly that over-development is an issue
how are you defining that and threading that needle?” Vazquez asked Fraga
“It is looking at it in a case-by-case scenario,” she replied
and how we can find a middle ground to meet the needs to community.”
Challenging Fraga in the election is Roxanna Garay
who is running for an elected office for the first time
She co-owns a logistics company and said her focus is on applying concepts currently learning through a sustainable smart cities advanced degree program
“Are there any public transportation options
policies you are considering?” asked Vazquez
“Adapting into new technologies,” replied Garay
“The vision that I have for the transportation I think is to first is to change the technology that is happening
“How do you define sustainable development and what does that mean to you
What is a policy that you would put in place?” asked Vazquez
building codes of the energy efficiencies to utilize every aspect of nature,” she said
trying to utilize construction and even the rain to help the construction centralize into the whole circular efficiency of the water that circulates in the construction
So adapting the whole environment to new construction.”
Another area of focus is the county incinerator
Doral has argued it should be rebuilt elsewhere
Miami-Dade County commissioners deferred a related item until after the election to
give county administration time to explore what Doral’s contributions will be toward the county’s moving expenses should commissioners decide to relocate it
“My initiative is working with the county and developer to work our way around and is beneficial for the residents of Doral,” said Garay
Added Fraga: “The whole argument was that we needed to pay the differential
but they don’t even know what the differential is because they haven’t chosen a location
I am not willing to write a blank check of our taxpayer dollars to the county.”

Following a season as a reserve for Ponos Nakajima Racing
Gran Turismo World Series winner Igor Fraga will have a full-time drive in Super Formula for 2025
Fraga, a Super Formula ambassador, last raced in an SF series in 2023 as he took part in the junior Super Formula Lights season. It looked to be a largely frustrating campaign dogged with mechanical issues, but he nonetheless secured several podium finishes and one race win
In that season he had been pulling double-duty, racing for Anest Iwata in the Lexus RC F in Super GT’s GT300 class
so although he didn’t take part in the open-wheel category he nonetheless remained familiar with the circuits used in both series
2024 SUPER FORMULA SUZUKA TEST │ #SFormula #64 🇧🇷 @1gorFraga #7 🇬🇧 @OllieBearman pic.twitter.com/GvMXtQ6ewp
Fraga took part in the Super Formula official and rookie tests in December 2024 at the Suzuka Circuit
He set the top time among the newcomers across the three days — as well as the fifth fastest time overall — in a session that included new Haas F1 driver Oliver Bearman
taking part as a familiarization exercise for the circuit
Fraga set a best lap in the Honda-powered #64 Ponos Nakajima car of 1:36.077
That was three-tenths ahead of the next-best driver
Seita Nonaka in the Toyota-powered #8 Kids.com Team KCMG car
with Bearman third and close to a second back
the fastest time was a 1:35.597 set by Tadasuke Makino — who finished third in the 2024 championship
Fraga will take charge of the #65 across the whole 12-race season
which begins with a Suzuka double-header in March and ends with a Suzuka double-header in November
We don’t yet know if he’ll be returning to Super GT action as well
although there are no schedule clashes between the two series…
