The NFL Draft is one of my favorite parts of being a football fan
and evaluating it has become a treasured past time of mine
As loyalists to Windy City Gridiron may know
I have been covering the NFL Draft on this website since 2017
For those newer to the site or for those who have no idea who I am
you can understand that growing up a Bears fan would make someone particularly interested in the draft
and there are people for whom talent evaluation is a full-time job
Those people do a lot more prep work than me and probably know a lot more than me
I’m just a guy who likes to watch football in his free time
and after picking up bits and pieces along the way
draft evaluation should be a constantly evolving process
you can try to minimize those mistakes by learning from the past
I wanted to put together a quantifiable number on how accurate or inaccurate my draft analysis actually is
Not only does this provide some public accountability
but it also helps me see which evaluations I’ve aced and which ones I bombed
For the sake of this argument, I will be using Pro Football Reference’s Absolute Value statistic
individual statistic that measures a player’s value of play each year
I put all 178 rookies who ended the year with an Absolute Value score of 1 or above
and I compared them to my top 75 prospects in my final big board
I calculated the absolute value of PFR’s AV minus the ranking on my board
the more accurate my big board’s ranking was in terms of how they performed in Year 1
There were a few players who didn’t tally an Absolute Value score — most of whom having dealt with serious injuries their first year — so their differential grade would be 179 (the absolute value of 179-0=179
and since there were 178 rookies with AV scores
all players with an AV score of 0 tied for 179th in the league)
This doesn’t account as much for missed time due to injury
one could argue that AV earned per game would be a better scale
the cliche goes that the best ability is availability
and just as consistent injury issues would affect a player’s value
so too do injuries in this differential equation
If you want to rank the entire 2024 NFL Draft class by Absolute Value
use the link I provided above and sort by wAV
I may do this with my other big boards from years past
a differential of 10 or below is a stellar evaluation
A differential of 11 through 32 is pretty good
seeing as though I got the player’s approximate round value correct
Anything from 32 to 64 is a mediocre evaluation
If the differential score reaches above 65
this is the absolute value differential of my top 75 players in the 2024 NFL Draft
It’s worth noting that a verdict on a player should not be reached after just their rookie seasons
There are many rookies who struggle out of the gate
only to find their way down the stretch and develop into a star player
we’ve seen a handful of flash-in-the-pan prospects who star as rookies and fizzle out soon after
I’m noticing a lot of my top prospects ended up living up to the hype
as these guys are early first-round picks for a reason
one mediocre evaluation and one massive flop
I have faith the Rome Odunze and Olu Fashanu rankings will look better as they both step into bigger roles in 2024
Dallas Turner had the misfortune of playing behind two Pro Bowlers in Jonathan Greenard and Andrew Van Ginkel
eating into his playing time significantly
That could teach me to better prioritize polished skill sets early at the edge rusher position
Out of my other nailed evaluations, a vast majority of the players were polished prospects with elite Relative Athletic Score grades
Xavier Legette wasn’t super refined but still possessed tremendous physical talent
and the Panthers accounted for those strengths and weaknesses pretty well in 2024
Kamari Lassiter didn’t test out of this world
The other players outside of my top 30 that I nailed — Wilson
Some of my big misses missed a majority of the 2024 season due to injury
Those evaluations I’ll circle back on once they’ve had more reps to build off of
Most of my best wide receiver evaluations were polished route runners with high RAS scores
Most of my worst evaluations were either lacking one or the other
Not only is size-adjusted athleticism important
but general athleticism for the position is
If a player doesn’t hit that second gear as a runner
it might be tougher for them to create separation
especially if they aren’t overly huge like a Keon Coleman
Some of my bigger misses were wiry types like Roman Wilson
Nate Wiggins showed flashes but just barely avoided a flat-out miss grade on my board
That’s an archetype I may need to be more cautious on
particularly among receivers and defensive backs
It’s possible some of my misses turn around — a good handful of these players ended up in situations where they had proven
veteran talent ahead of them on the depth chart
it’s possible some of my hits don’t age so well
I wanted to provide some sort of method to look into where I’ve graded correctly as a wannabe scout and where I’ve missed
maybe you could have some fun with it yourself

One month after the former mayor of Niles, who was convicted of corruption in 2018 asked to be released from prison early
the prosecution has filed a motion opposing that release
Infante was convicted of 22 charges stemming from corruption during his time as mayor of the City of Niles including tampering with records
having unlawful interest in a public contract
falsification and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity
He was sentenced to 10 years in prison on those charges
the prosecution is asking the judge not to release Infante from prison three years early
The document states that Infante's conduct in office brought humiliation to the whole city
"[Infante's] sentence for his pervasive
corrupt conduct should not be shortened because he has been a good prisoner
because his wife is older than him or because after years of appeals and federal court proceedings in which he continued to be unrepetitive or unremorseful
he is now sorry for his conduct as he seeks this court's mercy for early release," the document reads
During Infante's trial city employees testified about several instances of corruption during his administration including a time when he paid a woman for two generators and a power washer without first going through council
Other testimonies told of instances of bribery including a time when a city employee offered Infante $1,800 to give him a job in the city and raised that offer to $2,500 when he was told that was too low
Further testimony revealed a city employee got a promotion by buying him a TV set and air conditioner
Another testimony told of a time when Infante purchased $75,000 worth of tickets to a football game and was reimbursed for them
but never reported that and instead reported the tickets as gifts
You can read much more about these testimonies
as well as the aftermath of the case in our related coverage below

Detecting changes in population trends depends on the accuracy of estimated mean population growth rates and thus the quality of input data
monitoring wildlife populations poses economic and logistic challenges especially in complex and remote habitats
Declines in wildlife populations can remain undetected for years unless effective monitoring techniques are developed
We developed an automated survey workflow using unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) to quantify the number and size of individual animals
using the well-studied Scandinavian harbour seal (Phoca vitulina) as a model species
We compared ground-based counts using telescopes with manual flights
and pre-programmed flights producing orthomosaic photo maps
We used machine learning to identify and count both pups and older seals and we present a new method for measuring body size automatically
We evaluate the population’s reproductive success using drone data
historical counts and predictions from a Leslie matrix population model
The most accurate and time-efficient results were achieved by performing pre-programmed flights where individual seals are identified by machine learning and their body sizes are measured automatically
The accuracy of the machine learning detector was 95–97% and the classification error was 4.6 ± 2.9 for pups and 3.1 ± 2.1 for older seals during good light conditions
There was a clear distinction between the body sizes of pups and older seals during breeding time
We estimated 320 pups in the breeding season 2021 with the drone
based on historical data on pup production
The new high quality data from the drone survey confirms earlier indications of a deteriorating reproductive rate in this important harbour seal colony
We show that aerial drones and machine learning are powerful tools for monitoring wildlife in inaccessible areas which can be used to assess annual recruitment and seasonal variations in body condition
Overview of the automated work-flow for wildlife surveys
Drones are used to collect hundreds of images that are converted into orthomosaics
animals are identified by machine learning (ML) and their body sizes measured
They inhabit the Kattegat-Skagerrak coasts and the Baltic Sea (where a smaller population is found)
thus they occur in the territorial waters of Sweden
The abundance of harbour seals has been monitored since 1978 by counting the number of seals hauled out on land during peak moult in late August by small aeroplanes
Recent observations show that harbour seal subpopulations in the Kattegat-Skagerrak have different somatic growth rates and population growth rates (Harding et al., 2018; Silva et al., 2021)
The causes behind these differences remain unclear but are likely linked to food limitation in some regions
The well documented population of harbour seals in the Kattegat-Skagerrak provides an opportunity to study the mechanisms of population regulation in marine mammals in more detail
Quantifying annual changes in the reproductive rate of females
and the body condition of pups would provide important clues and could disclose cause-effect mechanisms behind observed changes in trends
estimating annual pup production and condition of pups is very labour intensive with traditional methods involving catching pups in nets and observing branded seals by telescope in topographically complex archipelagos
development of new methods are required to complement traditional survey techniques in long-term monitoring
and to increase our understanding of basic processes in the dynamics of populations
But simple non-invasive methods for rapidly estimating body size for a large number of individuals have to our knowledge not been performed before
we (1) compare the efficiency and accuracy of two drone survey methods using manual and pre-programed flights
relative to land-based telescope surveys to count seal pups; (2) assess the accuracy of aerial drones in combination with automated software for counting and measuring the body sizes of pups and older harbour seals; and (3) evaluate the current pup production in the light of historical monitoring data and discuss the implications of the findings for the dynamics of the population
Diagram of the survey methods and workflow tested in the study
Seal surveys were performed both with traditional observations by telescope
Drone missions were either manually piloted
All methods resulted in estimates of the number of newborn pups
that in turn was evaluated in terms of “pup/older seals ratio” and evaluated in the light of total population size
we did not attempt to distinguish between pups and older seals
(A) Map of the main haul-out sites for harbour seals in the Kosterhavet archipelago
(B) Adult females and pups haul-out during the peak pupping season
and a pregnant female is observed at the bottom left side
(C) Female harbour seals closely watch over their pups during lactation
Mother-pup-pairs can be recognized from drone photos (Images from drone zoom-photo survey of Svarta Kalvhättan
we carried out ground-based counts of pups using the same method as in previous surveys
We used a Swarovski ABICHT-AT-80 telescope with flexible magnification up to x60
We observed each site for 20–30 min
and counted pup numbers repeatedly from nearby islets at distances up to 600 m on each survey day
In cases where pups were positioned behind rocks
we attempted to observe the same nursing site from a different location
We surveyed all sites multiple times and took notes of the highest counts for each site
We repeated this method daily until all additional counts were lower than the daily maximum count
we provide a new large data set of pup counts by telescope (number of pups) at the nine surveyed sites from the years 1989 to 2013
The intensity of the survey effort using the traditional telescope count was not as high in 2021 as in previous years
since we avoided interfering with the drone survey
and this affected the counts especially at complex habitats and bias the comparison of methods in favour of drone counts
Removing the potential error in historical data by compensating for lower fraction sighted previous years would only strengthen our main finding of a recent decrease in pup production
We performed manually operated flights remotely from islands without haul-out sites to avoid seal disturbance (Krause et al., 2021)
The flight altitude was 100 m and the vertical distance to the seals when photographed by this method was between 100 and 150 m
Observations were made using a x30 optical zoom camera (DJI
Zenmuse-Z30) mounted on a quadcopter drone (DJI
The optical zoom allowed observers to remain unnoticed by the animals while still obtaining highly detailed photos
The drone streamed live images to the pilot and to an assistant observer with FPV goggles (First Person View
DJI Goggles) with a 1080p/30fps screen definition
This arrangement facilitated the location and identification of pups
allowing the pilot to safely navigate the drone while the assistant focused on observations
The survey was carried out by scanning haul out sites while recording photos and videos with zoom camera from left to right and zooming in on seal groups to document the presence of pups while keeping the drone static
The resulting images and videos were taken at 1,920 × 1,080 pixel resolution
Seal counts were first performed manually on all photos and videos by 3–4 persons with different degrees of experience in seal surveys and the average and standard error was calculated from the observations
The image quality of mosaics decreased when flights were carried out in the late afternoon, due to lower light levels, which in turn made images more blurry and decreased the probability of automated detection (Sieberth et al., 2014)
if seals were moving on land or water when the drone was collecting images
some images became blurry (ghosting effect)
Seal counts were performed manually on all orthomosaics by 3–4 persons with variable experience of seal surveys
Harbour seal identification using machine learning detectors at the locality “Svarta Kalvhättan,” Sweden
(A) A drone orthomosaic map is composed of many overlapping photos
(B) Blue and green polygons indicate pups and older seals identified by machine learning
(C,D) automatic measurement of body lengths (L) and widths (W) describe seal shape
Polygons were smoothed and split into two line segments (red and light blue lines)
Coordinate points midway between these segments were used to construct a line representing the position of the spine
the distance between the smooth and unsmoothed polygon was added to the length of this line to calculate seal length (long orange line)
Widths were calculated based on the maximum distance between the curved line and the smoothed polygon (short orange line)
Here, “precision” is the ratio between false positives (FP) and false negative (FN) classifications. “Recall” is defined as TP/(TP+FN), where TP is the true positive rate as judged by a human observer. The accuracy of classifications was very high; 97.14% for pups, 97.06% for older seals in June and 95.75% for the group “all seals” in September (Table 1)
After running the detectors on the drone mosaics each seal was indicated with a polygon and data on its position (latitude and longitude)
Statistics from the automatic seal detecting software
To validate the automatic calculation, we also estimated the standard body length and width of seals manually using classified polygons and mosaics (n = 688). The standard body length of each seal was estimated by measuring the straight-line distance from the head to the tip of the tail (American Society of Mammalogists, 1967)
The body width was measured as the longest transversal distance of the seal shaped polygons
We also construct an alternative “low growth rate scenario” by manipulating the demographic rates to fit the current population rate of increase
The age-specific demographic rates predicted for a population under different growth conditions
we used a non-linear least squares method to fit exponential functions to estimated total population size (P) and observed pup numbers
(P = intercept*eln(λ)*Year)
To estimate the expected ratio of pups for given demographic conditions
we assumed 50% of observed seals during moult counts were female and that the proportion of mature females can be calculated from the stable age structure of a Leslie matrix
The age structured population (N) took the form:
Age specific birth rates (B) of female offspring were calculated based on the age specific fertility (F) and survival (S) values reported in Silva et al. (2021) according to:
Age specific birth and survival rates were assembled into a Leslie matrix (L) according to:
We used a generalised mixed-effects model assuming a Poisson distribution (function “glmer” of R package “lme4”) of seal pup counts to determine whether seal pup counting methods differed significantly (Bates et al., 2015)
The model included seal pup counts as the response variables and method and haul-out site as independent variables
with observer and day of survey modelled as random effects
We fit exponential models to estimated pup and total population sizes using a non-linear least squares method taking year as the explanatory variable and estimated size as response variable
We measured the length and width of each identified seal automatically
We tested the agreement between manual and automatic measurement by performing linear regressions for each dimension with automatic measurements as input variable and manual measurements as output variable
To correct for differences in measured values between projection systems
the parameter estimates from this linear regression were used to apply a linear transformation to bring automatically measured seal dimensions in line with manual measurements
We performed data analysis and automated measurement of polygons in R
All methods readily identified harbour seal pups and older seals; however, each method has different strengths and weaknesses. The highest total number of pups (320) on the 9 sites was observed on the 18th of June using drone zoom-video surveys, and the highest number of pups (66) on a single skerry was observed at the island of Våskär. We found significant differences between the estimates depending on survey method (F = 33.137, p < 2.2e-16) (Figure 4A)
a post-hoc analysis (Tukey’s) indicated significant differences between drone zoom-video surveys and all other methods with drone video surveys generally resulting in higher counts compared to drone zoom-photo and telescope surveys
No significant difference was found between drone zoom-video and orthomosaic+ML counting
differences between haul-out sites were also significant (F = 103.968
(A) Comparison between survey methods implemented at 5 sites
(B) number of pups counted with telescope and drone at simple and complex island topographies
Seal counts at islands with complex topography showed a significant difference between methods
Data collected during 13 and 16 of June 2021
although this difference is not expected in the historical telescope surveys that were carried out from more observation points
On average, seal counting using machine learning failed to identify 13.3 ± 3.8% and 6.4 ± 2.2% of pups and older seals, respectively (Table 3)
Orthomosaics were blurry on the 15–16 June due to low daylight late in the evening generating an error of 21.1 ± 6.2 and 7.6 ± 3.6 in the detection of pups and older seals
with an error of 4.6 ± 2.9 and 3.1 ± 2.1 for pups and older seals
Swimming seals were not identified by the detector
seals moving on land appear blurry in the orthomosaic and were not identified by the detector either
Number of pups and older seals identified with machine learning and validated with manual inspection of the digital photos
Average body sizes of harbour seals hauled out on land calculated from drone orthomosaics during pupping season in June and September 2021
Correlations between manually and automatically performed measurements on digital photos of (A) body length and (B) width (N = 466) of harbour seals
Frequency distribution of (C) body length and (D) body width from the automatic measurements
N = 251) could be identified as two separate groups on the photos by the machine learning detector (based on e.g.
colour and shape) while in September all seals were pooled into the same category (black line
(A) Estimates for total population size of harbour seals in the Koster archipelago are based on August moult counts adjusted for a 65% haul-out rate (orange points)
The cumulative maximum number of pups during June pup counts from historical telescope surveys and zoom-video surveys in 2021 were taken to represent 100% of pups (blue points)
Separate exponential models were fit to count data for total population size (orange line) and pup numbers (blue line) before and after the year of mass mortality due to Phocine distemper virus (PDV) (dashed line)
Shaded regions represent the residual standard error for each model
(B) The ratio of pups to estimated total population is given for annual pup counts (points) and based on the exponential model (line)
Exponential growth models were used to estimate the realised growth rates for moult and pup counts for the time periods before (1989–2001) and after (2002–2021) the most recent Phocine Distemper Virus (PDV) outbreaks
Our results indicate that the decreasing proportion of pup to moult count ratio could be accounted for by reductions in fertility and survival of immature seals
We assess the accuracy and efficiency of different types of telescope and drone surveys at counting and measuring harbour seals during the reproductive season for estimating the annual breeding success. Our results revealed advantages and disadvantages among all methods tested (Figure 7)
The most accurate and time-efficient results were provided by performing pre-programmed flights to create orthomosaics
where animals were subsequently identified by machine learning and their body sizes measured automatically
Drone surveys proved to be powerful for monitoring animals in inaccessible rocky archipelagos and could be used to assess annual recruitment and seasonal variations in body condition
permitting early warning signs of changes in population growth and health and could disclose cause-effect mechanisms behind observed population growth trends
Our approach was designed and evaluated for harbour seals but could be applied to other wildlife species or other orthomosaic and machine learning software
Summary of the advantages and disadvantages for each sampling method to count seal pups by telescope
The server can return information on the number of seals and their sizes
Other software with API capabilities can also be used (ArcGISpro
Our results demonstrate that seal pup counts for haul out sites surveyed using drones were 45% higher than when using ground-based telescopes
This difference was influenced by the complexity of the topography
because most Skerries are not flat and seals can be hidden between rocks and thus not easily detected with a land-base telescope
Historical telescope surveys were performed with greater effort including more observation points
and can’t be directly compensated by this factor
telescopes can still provide very important information about the general behaviour of the population because the long observation times (20 min) can be used to identify pups and their behaviour without the need of post-processing
telescope monitoring is less weather-dependent than drones
because land-based counts can be performed even during days with strong winds (>19 m/s) which impede drone flights
A further advantage of telescope surveys is that pups in the water are counted
four features make counting of harbour seals with drones more accurate and practical than telescope monitoring: (i) access to sites that are not easily visible to the telescope observer; (ii) faster access to target locations; (iii) ability to record images and/or videos that can be used for (re-)counting seals or observe behaviour after surveys
and (iv) the ability to accurately measure seal body sizes
drone photos (orthomosaics) could be used to document population shifts such as changes in haul-out distribution through the day or tidal cycles
We did not observe any clear disturbance to the seals by the drones at 40 m altitude while collecting orthomosaics or during zoom-photo/video surveys at 100 m altitude. The sizes of the drones used and altitudes of flight have shown to cause low disturbance to marine mammals, such as harbour seals (Duporge et al., 2021; Palomino-González et al., 2021; Krause et al., 2021)
Counting pups with telescopes on islands with complex topography requires that observers drive near Skerries by boat and count seals as they escape into the water
which can lead to unnecessary short-term stress both to lactating mothers and pups
seals swimming in the water or moving on land became blurry (ghosting effect) in the orthomosaic and were not detected by the automated method
Here we report a simplification of previous methods; our approach only requires average computing times between 60 and 90 min per surveyed site (orthomosaic construction
running ML detectors and measuring body sizes)
while still providing key information on the population
One possible source of error likely involves orientation of seals while basking: whereas the objects in our test were flat on the ground
seals basking on rocky shores mostly lie on slopes
Because images are taken in nadir any deviation from the horizontal of seals will lead to underestimation of their sizes
This problem will not occur in habitats dominated by sand or mudflats
An additional way to improve future surveys is to change the position where body width is measured from the widest part to instead measure 10 cm below the front flipper
Such an approach would permit a more stable and repeatable point of measurement
Additional surveys are required to establish if this trend is consistent over time
pairing a time-series of well-designed surveys assessing breeding success with total population counts can provide a much earlier assessment of the population status than total population counts alone
Where previously the high cost would have prohibited multiple surveys of the same population within a single year
automated methods as presented in this study present a viable option
The International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) and the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the North-East Atlantic (OSPAR) frameworks propose that Good Environmental Status (GES) is achieved for populations at carrying capacity when there is ‘No decline in population size or pup production exceeding 10% occurred over a period up to 10 years’
Our data indicate a dramatic drop in pup production
but the time series needs to be extended to obtain conclusive evidence
Orthomosaics with the location of each individual older seal and pup can be used to understand how groups are distributed across skerries and islands and the impact of human presence
This automated workflow can be used to assess the demography and condition of large mammal populations (e.g.

A former Niles mayor who was convicted of corruption in 2018 is now asking to be released from prison early
attorneys for former Niles mayor Ralph Infante
who was sentenced to 10 years in prison on 22 charges stemming from corruption during his administration have filed a motion for judicial release Tuesday
There is no word yet on whether or not the judge will grant this motion
Infante was convicted of several charges including tampering with records
WORCESTER — Despite not playing an instrument or being able to carry a tune
Infante’s name has become synonymous with rock ‘n’ roll in Worcester
Infante has never seen a feature on an aspiring new band or veteran artist that he didn’t try to get into the Telegram & Gazette or Worcester Magazine
whether it was written two months in advance or two minutes after deadline
He also wrote regularly about the local music scene and beyond for more than two decades
Although he doesn’t write as much about rock ‘n’ roll as he used to
In addition to being features editor for both the T&G and WoMag
Infante has been making the rounds reading from his new “poetic novella,” “Suffer For This.”
his book has a rock ‘n’ roll reference in its title
Think the English Beat's "Save It for Later." Would you expect anything less from Infante
An obscure punk song could be playing in his head one moment
while one of the cheesiest pop songs ever could be playing the next
Infante is cheering you on and is in your corner
it seems befitting that Infante was destined to receive the Worcester Music Awards’ Lifetime Achievement Award someday
Lifetime Achievement Awards are usually given to people who have retired or on their last leg
Q: How does it feel to be bestowed this honor
I have spent a better part of the last year wondering how much of a music journalist I still was
I’ve been going through a lot of changes professionally
And I no longer write the “Listen Up” column (which goes back to March 2009)
This really is a wonderful signal that while my role has changed
And it’s always nice to know that you are appreciated for the work you’ve done
Q: When it came to writing and publishing stories about music
High profile bands with big audiences had a priority…Talent’s another criteria
So a really talented artist who is living out in Vermont
if I had a free week I might write about them just because they’re worth knowing about
Or I might write about a popular band here that everybody loves
So it was always kind of a balancing act between local or talent but I always try to keep everything New England
Q: You’ve certainly done a lot for the city’s music scene but
Do you have any gut feelings why they gave the Lifetime Achievement Award honor to you now
VDI: I like to think I have done a lot for the city’s music scene
I think the most gratifying moments ever is running into some local rapper and they’ll tell me their mom has the article pinned to the fridge
(Hearty laughter) Nobody was really writing about local hip-hop at length
But it wasn’t a monthly occurrence and even a bimonthly occurrence
at that point of time when I came into the features department about 22 years ago
a lot of the hip-hop scene was underground…The moment I saw the video that Ghost of the Machine filmed on the back patio of the Mercantile Center
Q: Now that you have the Worcester Music Awards Lifetime Achievement Award
are you planning to retire or slip off this mortal coil anytime soon
(Hearty laughter) I am at a point now that I don’t know what the future is
Q: What is it about the local music scene that’s so important to you and
so important to get the word out there in your pages that these acts and bands are out there playing their collective hearts out
VDI: You have more access to local music than you ever had in history
and there are fewer guides…It’s really important to have people exploring local and regional music and being able to point listeners to music that they might like or might love
Nobody tomorrow is going to remember what traffic story ran 20 years ago but you’ll remember what song was playing at your wedding
You’ll remember what was playing in a restaurant on your first date
You’ll remember those things…The Telegram’s got a pretty good history of music journalists before me
I really feel like I’m standing on their shoulders and building on the work they did
And the time I’m in now is Spotify and Bandcamp and YouTube
there’s bands playing at clubs and we want people to go see those
I no longer see my job as one deciding what’s good and what’s bad
I see my job as guiding people to what they might like.”
Q: How good and eclectic is the local music scene
And if the people haven’t figured that out by now
the number of artists that have at least gained somewhat
national profiles out of here should have been a clue
from Joyner Lucas to people who have been on “The Voice,” like Ricky Duran and Cara Brindisi and Sam James
You’re looking at the peak of a very deep well of very good music
Worcester has one of the most eclectic hip-hop scenes in the country
If you got to a lot of places in the country with strong hip-hop scenes
everybody starts kind of sounding the same
Worcester artists all sound very different from each other and a lot of them sound very unique…A lot of these people could be national artists under the right circumstances
Q: Anything you like to say to those who voted to give you the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Worcester Music Awards
VDI: I’m super grateful for everybody at the Worcester Music Awards
that most years I get nominated for the Boston Music Awards for Music Journalist of the Year
And I will always joke that I have never been nominated for a Worcester Music Award
And I always follow up immediately because there isn’t an appropriate category
Music journalist of the year for just Worcester
But I have always been grateful to usually the only person from this side of 495 to be in the Boston Music Awards bill
I don’t know how it (the Worcester Music Awards) happened but I am very

Police officers conducting a traffic stop on an Uber arrested an alleged street gang member after they found him in possession of a loaded AK-47-style gun in Mundelein
was charged with three counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon
consumption of liquor by a minor and illegal possession of ammunition
The Mundelein Police Department conducted a traffic stop on an Uber around 2 a.m
Sunday for the vehicle having suspended registration
Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Michael Theis said Infante was in the backseat of the vehicle
Officers recognized Infante because he is a known Latin King street gang member who was arrested earlier this year
A backpack was in between Infante’s feet
Infante denied it was his backpack and the Uber driver also denied it was his
Theis said police felt a hard object in the backpack and recovered a Mini Draco 7.62 AK-47 style handgun
The gun was loaded with a 30-round extended magazine
Infante was arrested and admitted the gun was his
The Uber driver also told officers that Infante got into the car with the backpack
Infante was on pre-trial release at the time after being charged with illegal possession of ammunition and disorderly conduct for an incident in Mundelein on August 11
Theis said Infante also has a juvenile adjudication for illegally possessing a gun in 2022
public service and counseling for his sentence
“The least restrictive conditions have been tried and failed because this defendant does not comply with them,” Theis said
arguing for Infante to be detained in jail pending trial
Lake County Judge Michael Nerheim granted a petition to detain Infante after agreeing with prosecutors that there were no conditions of release to ensure the community’s safety
Infante is set to appear in court again on January 10 for a preliminary hearing

LULAC FILES HISTORIC LAWSUIT TO DEFEND VOTING RIGHTS FROM EXECUTIVE OVERREACH THREATENING AMERICA'S DEMOCRACY Read Here
With an elegant and graceful style reminiscent of Mexico’s classic mariachi crooners
recording artist Lupita Infante brings a sensual and soothing vocal contrast to the bold sounds of regional Mexican music
is proof that she is a star on the rise not only for her talent but for her perseverance
Although heir to the Infante Mexican music and film dynasty
Lupita has worked diligently amidst hardship for her current successes
a Mexican immigrant from the state of Zacatecas
the son of legendary icon Pedro Infante (1917-1957)
She grew up loving and deeply respecting everything that makes Mexican music special
which is why her commitment to paying tribute to the greats – including her own family – is a central theme throughout her recorded and live performances
She had a humble upbringing typical of working class immigrant families in south east Los Angeles
She was far removed from the spotlight and luxury that her last name might suggest
Lupita rose from the ashes and decided to pick up the torch of the Infante legacy
After years of honing her craft and simultaneously working her way through college
she graduated in 2017 from UCLA’s Herb Alpert School of Music with a bachelor of arts degree in Ethnomusicology (world music)
Upon graduating she was a contestant and semifinalist on Mexico’s rendition of the talent competition The Voice
This proved to be the launching point of her professional career
The exposure from the show allowed her to put a team together that led to the creation of the GRAMMY nominated debut album
was nominated for best regional Mexican song in the Latin GRAMMYS
and the entire album received an GRAMMY nomination for best regional Mexican album
A big part of Lupita’s artistry is paying tribute to the tradition and beauty of her heritage
while also providing a youthful bicultural perspective to the regional Mexican genre
Although Lupita’s music is traditional in some ways
she believes in the power of progress and bravely questions some long-held traditions through her songwriting and fashion style
Woman empowerment is a subtle yet central theme throughout her music in a tradition historically dominated by men
Lupita understands her responsibility as an artist following in her family’s footsteps
She is often acclaimed for continuing the legacy that brings cross-generational audiences to admire Mexico’s beautiful music traditions
she has emerged as an artist with her own identity
capable of honoring the past while celebrating the present and creating the future
WORCESTER ― It turns out romance isn’t dead
It’s just been hiding out and thinking a helluvalot
As least that’s the premise that permeates through the pages of “Suffer For This,” the new “poetic novella” by Victor D
editor of Worcester Magazine and features editor at the Telegram & Gazette
Reacting to the perceived notion that nobody wants to read about a happy marriage anymore
not only does Infante wholeheartedly disagree
he also wants to prove popular opinion wrong
“‘Suffer For This' is a book about a happy marriage
not a Hallmark happy marriage but a complicated
challenging and sometimes shaky marriage that
very hard to look at love at as many different angles as possible and be honest about all of them — where they hurt
and they’re the only thing that’s real sometimes
Infante said the most important goals of his latest literary venture were to be true to the book’s unnamed protagonist — whom many have already mistaken for being him; he insists that's not the case — and to be honest about love
“These things may not have actually happened but
it is an intellectually and emotionally honest book,” Infante said
The closest Infante gets to being sentimental in a good way is the vividly detailed and beautifully written passage about the protagonist’s wedding
I actually stole my friends Kae (Collins) and Bex (Zumbruski)’s wedding,” Infante said
“Their wedding was better for the purpose of the book than my wedding
it would have been a different book and frankly a less interesting one.”
The East Coast release party for “Suffer For This” is 6 p.m
Infante will talk about his new book with Oliver de la Paz
Infante will also read a set of select passages from the book
Infante’s wife; Mckendy Fils-Aimé; Jenith Charpentier; Karen Sharpe; Joe Fusco Jr
Joslyn Fox will be the host for the evening
and singer-songwriter-guitarist James Keyes will provide music
Infante will also read selections from the book
Published by Moon Tide Press, “Suffer For This” is full of romantic ruminations about love
love for The English Beat — hence the title’s reference to a line from the band’s song “Save It For Later.”
Being features editor of the T&G and also editor of both Worcester Magazine and Worcester Living Magazine
in addition to being a devoted husband and dedicated pet owner to two ferrets
Infante already had a full plate on his hands before he thought about writing a book
2008’s 'City of Insomnia,' was very easy,” Infante said
In addition to admitting to himself that the book was done
Infante said the biggest challenge in completing “Suffer For This” was sticking to writing the book that he wanted to write and not one other people wanted or expected him to write
I was writing a story about love,” he said
“And in some ways it’s a poem about love.”
the book is Infante’s love letter to his wife of 24 years
who he says is “a considerably better poet.”
Infante hopes “Suffer For This” inspires people to be more compassionate with each other and helps them come to realize that there’s not always a guilty party in a breakup
“People fall in love or think they fall in love
There’s always this impulse to take sides when the fact of the matter is probably neither of them did anything wrong,” Infante said
When asked if he has gone through a lot of suffering for love
“My love life before that was pretty much a train wreck
but most of my life was a train wreck in my youth,” he said
“But my actual marriage is the easiest thing in my life.”

(WJAR) — Rhode Island has a list of new priorities for students as classrooms prepare to open for the 2024-2025 academic year
In an exclusive interview with NBC 10 News
Education Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green spoke about a common theme for this upcoming school year: cut back on chronic absenteeism and close the learning gap
It is more important now than ever,” Infante-Green said
More than 28,600 students were chronically absent in Rhode Island last academic year
The Rhode Island Department of Education spent much of the 2023-2024 school year educating parents on the importance of being in class
If a student misses two school days a month
but a statewide survey showed many families did not believe missing two days a month would impact their child
Data pulled by the state shows chronically absent students have a 20% gap with their peers
which means they are less likely to test on grade level
“What do we do with those students that have been chronically absent two or three years
They are going to be behind,” Infante-Green said
The commissioner says that will be this year’s focus
“What do we do as a state to make sure we are accelerating learning
It's very difficult to make up two or three years in one year
so what are the other things we are going to put in place
That’s going to be our focus this year,” Infante-Green said
Accelerated learning won’t just be a focus for chronically absent students
the state also wants to boost test scores in 2024
“We are going to have to do a lot of work around reading and we are going to keep our focus in math,” the education commissioner said
Some districts outperformed their pre-pandemic math scores last year
but learning loss remains an issue statewide
“It’s going to take a little while,” Infante-Green said
but what we are really looking at is the internal assessments that give us a gauge of how much progress is happening.”
While RICAS scores have improved in math and English Language Arts
schools must now maintain the momentum without federal COVID-related funds
the program that provided districts with additional cash
Providence has already seen the impact of the lost funding
The district recently announced it’s ending the 30-minute extended school day a year after it began
It costs $25 million to do that,” Infante-Green said
With Providence already struggling with budget woes
Infante-Green said the additional money to fund the program would be an impossible ask
“We just don’t have the money to do such a thing,” she said
“We made it very clear that it was one-year endeavor.”
School positions related to social and emotional learning are also on the chopping block from the end of federal funds
Districts statewide invested heavily in mental health related positions over the past four years
“Those positions were hired to be temporary
No one should’ve had an expectation they were going to have those positions
but they were needed at the time,” Infante-Green said
While the need to address social and emotional learning is still strong
districts will have to pull from their own budgets to keep programs and positions in place this year
Districts also have had to invest in positions that meet the state's new graduation requirements
including tweaks to math and science curriculum and a mandate to take two world language courses
“We know that when kids speak more than one language
their cognitive abilities expand,” Infante-Green said
Students previously weren’t required to take language courses
which are needed to get into University of Rhode Island and Rhode Island College
Students will also be required to write a resume and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid
When asked whether that’s pushing kids to attend college
“We are not pushing them in one direction or another
Infante-Green argues if students do not fill out the FASFA
they automatically eliminate a lot of their options
Enrollment numbers will be another statewide focus this upcoming school year
If declining enrollment continues this fall
360 High School in Providence may not be the last to close its doors and consolidate
but also what’s best for kids,” Infante-Green said
Enrollment numbers have been dropping nationwide
“We’ll have a better handle on that at the end of October,” Infante-Green said

we apply stochastic differential equations with the Wiener process to investigate the soliton solutions of the Chaffee–Infante (CI) equation
a fundamental model in mathematical physics
explains concepts such as wave propagation and diffusion processes
Exact soliton solutions are obtained through the application of the modified extended tanh (MET) method
and contour are highly localized and determine an individual frequency shift under the behavior of sharp peak
The MET method shows to be a valuable analytical tool for obtaining soliton solutions
essential for understanding the dynamics of nonlinear wave phenomena
Numerical simulations enable us to explore soliton solutions in two and three dimensions
shedding light on their properties over time
Our results have wide applications in various domains
including stochastic processes and nonlinear dynamics
how to understand their mathematical features
This provides the foundation for further investigation into this intriguing and practical branch of mathematics
The (2+1) dimensional form of CI equation36 is:
where \(\sigma\) and P are arbitrary constants
The above equation represents the stochastic CI equation
where \(W(t)\) represents Wiener process and \(\theta\) gives white noise39
There is statistical independence between the increments \(W(t_2) - W(t_1)\) for \(t_1 < t_2\)
A Gaussian distribution with a mean of 0 and a variance of \(t_2 - t_1\) characterizes the distribution of increments \(W(t_2) - W(t_1)\)
events with sharp and notable fluctuations are abstractly represented by white noise
which is defined as the Wiener process’s time derivative
The motivation of this study was to find new analytic solutions for the CI equation through the modified extended tanh analytical method
this model can provide some insights about complex nonlinear phenomenon as it explains dynamics behind CI model in stochastic
This research aims to enhance mathematical physics by presenting accurate traveling wave solutions for these equations and different them with previous ones
the effectiveness of the modified extended tanh method for addressing certain types of nonlinear evolution equations in stochastic situations is demonstrated
This method can be applied to a wide range of nonlinear PDEs
making it a valuable tool for researchers in various fields where complex systems are studied
this model has not been previously studied using the proposed methods in the stochastic perspective
thus representing a novel contribution to the existing literature
Step.1 By using following travelling wave transformation
Equation (4) reduce to required ordinary differential equation
Step.2 Introduce a new variable namely \(h\,=\,h(\varrho )\)
The modified extended tanh technique admits the proper solution of Eq. (6)
Substituting the values of \(\gamma _{0},\, \gamma _{1},\, \psi _{1},\,\lambda\) into Eq. (8) to obtain the solutions of Eq. (4)
The Eq. (3) reduce to following ordinary partial differential equation (ODE)
under the balancing principle we have \(m=1\)
Substitute the value of Eq. (14) with Eq. (7) into Eq. (13)
By setting all polynomials equal to zero and solving by Mathematica

The physical aspects of numerous solutions which we have constructed are extensively analyzed in this section
2D and contour are highly localized and demonstrate an individual frequency shift under the behavior of sharp peak
Singular soliton solutions are important in nonlinear physics
self-reinforcing waves that resist dispersion and maintain their shape over long distances
from optical communications and fiber optics to fluid dynamics and plasma physics
enabling efficient signal transmission and exact control in nonlinear systems
The section describes the new analytic solutions obtained using the Modified Extended Tanh analytical technique and their implications for understanding the behavior of the system
The results are significant because they offer a more comprehensive understanding of the Chaffee–Infante equation in stochastic environments and contribute to the advancement of mathematical physics
We illustrate through these figures that how to solitary waves respond and demonstrate the significant changes to varying level of \(\kappa\)
Many physical systems explain the stochastic behavior which is reliable for the implementation of the stochastic technique
the localized wave packets become very important because they indicate the continued existence of isolated wave packets
In Figs. 1 and 2: we used \(y=1.5
\,\sigma =0.3,\,\lambda =1.4,\,P=1.7,\,\kappa =-0.2,\) for 3D and contour plotes while in 2D the value of \(t=1.\) The range of \(-5\le x \le 5\) and \(-2\le t \le 2\)
In Figs. 3 and 4: we used \(y=0.5
\,\sigma =0.5,\,\lambda =0.4,\,P=0.5,\,\kappa =-0.2,\) for 3D and contour plotes while in 2D the value of \(t=1.\) The range of \(-5\le x \le 5\) and \(-1\le t \le 1\)
In Figs. 5 and 6: we used \(y=0.5
\,\sigma =0.5,\,\lambda =0.4,\,P=0.5,\,\kappa =0,\) for 3D and contour plotes while in 2D the value of \(t=1.\) The range of \(-5\le x \le 5\) and \(-2\le t \le 2\)
In Figs. 7 and 8: we used \(y=1.5
\,\sigma =1,\,\lambda =1.4,\,P=1.7,\,\kappa =1.2,\) for 3D and contour plotes while in 2D the value of \(t=1.\) The range of \(-5\le x \le 5\) and \(-1\le t \le 1\)
In Figs. 9 and 10: we used \(y=0.5
\,\sigma =0.5,\,\lambda =0.4,\,P=0.5,\,\kappa =1.2,\) for 3D and contour plotes while in 2D the value of \(t=1.\) The range of \(-5\le x \le 5\) and \(-1\le t \le 1\)
This research emphasis on the numerous ways in which stochastic aspects interact with the localized wave outcomes
and reveal significant newly acquired knowledge regarding the manner in which overall system interact to raising level of noise around it
We have finally clarified the soliton solutions of the Chaffee–Infante (CI) equation in the Wiener process base of stochastic differential equations (SDEs)
The Modified Extended Tanh Method has allowed us to get precise soliton solutions
which has motivated us to explore the dynamics governed by this fundamental mathematical model
The CI equation has implications in several scientific and technical fields due to its significance in diffusion processes and wave propagation phenomena
For the purpose of analyzing nonlinear wave phenomena
the Modified Extended Tanh Method has shown to be an effective analytical tool that provides valuable insights into the behavior of soliton solutions
We obtained different types of singular soliton solutions
which provide valuable insights into the behavior of the system.Through numerical simulations in both two and three dimensions
we have demonstrated the three-dimensional and time-dependent features of these solutions
A comprehensive understanding of the origins and propagation of soliton solutions is obtained via the study of these solutions in three dimensions in both space and time
Our results open the way for future research and applications in the domains of nonlinear dynamics and stochastic processes
Our study combines practical suggestions with theoretical insights
opening up new avenues for understanding and linking the dynamics of complex systems governed by nonlinear equations

Move over, Bad Bunny — Lupita Infante is singing the wonders of el verano
Earlier this summer, the Grammy-nominated música Mexicana singer welcomed the sun-drenched season with her song "Podemos (No Volver A La Ciudad)," a warm midtempo about ditching the drudgery of daily life for a soothing getaway
The mariachi-influenced track came together during Infante's real-life vacation to Mexico City. Infante, granddaughter of Mexican ranchera singer Pedro Infante
said the city's hustle and bustle stirred up a familiar feeling of wanderlust
"I think trying to find that little piece of stillness and just getting away from everything here
And I think this happens to me a lot," Infante says
For those planning their own summer getaway
Infante dishes on her essentials for the season
Who says you need to be whisked away to an exotic locale to unwind
visiting the beach is a go-to activity during the summer
The Los Angeles native savors the immediate escapism of lounging oceanside
"It's nice to be out there taking in the sun (and) laying out," Infante says
"Just the sound of the waves is so relaxing
it's not summer without some feet-thumping tunes
and it's pretty inspiring to see that on the world stage."
Forget about fizzy sodas and sweet fruit juices: Infante prefers to cool down with a briny kick in her glass
Infante's top summer drink is the Michelada cocktail
which she describes as a "Mexican version of a Bloody Mary."
and they put lime juice and then they line the rim and then put (spice mix) Tajín or (Mexican sauce) Chamoy on it," Infante says
"Just saying the word 'Chamoy' makes my mouth water
Infante's music may be steeped in the tradition of música Mexicana
but it's filtered through the bicultural lens of her Mexican American upbringing
"It might not be exactly the same as somebody who has been in Mexico their whole life," Infante says
but we also have our own unique way of interpreting it that makes sense to us
And I think that's what I've been trying to really dig up and look for in myself as an artist."
Infante's musical journey has been inspired by her grandfather, a trailblazer in Latin entertainment who reportedly recorded around 350 songs in Spanish and helped epitomize the golden age of Mexican cinema
starring in films such as "Cuando Habla el Corazón," "Sobre las Olas" and "Tizoc."
Although Infante never met him (Pedro died in 1957 at the age of 39)
the singer is reminded of Pedro's presence through emotional fan encounters
"People share their deepest stories with me
'I grew up with your grandfather's music,'" Infante says
"They're like core memories that I feel like my grandfather has been a part of."
It's this combination of intimate connection and Pedro's love of family that have influenced Infante the most
It's what you leave in people.' And I feel like my grandfather really has left a mark in so many people’s hearts
and it's just so beautiful to see even after so many years."

After five years in charge of Rhode Island’s largest district
state education Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green will soon decide whether Providence schools have made enough headway to be released from state control
“What we don’t want is some of the progress that has been made to slide backwards,” she told The 74
Providence has also seen a sharp decline in enrollment since the state took over — an almost 17% drop, according to a December report from a state policy organization
herself an English learner who began her career as a bilingual educator in New York City
said students at the school are missing out on critical programs that can prepare them for college
they’ll have access to honors classes and the opportunity to take college courses
another member of the board and director of the nonprofit Center for Assessment
said state and local education leaders bring a practical outlook that researchers and testing experts sometimes lack
“We absolutely need chiefs like Angélica on NAGB,” he said
they’re one of the prime audiences we hope use NAEP results.”
Infante-Green sought help from Marion’s center in 2021 to better understand the extent of pandemic learning loss. Her department spent relief funds on mid-year tests at a time when statewide assessments were canceled
Those snapshots of students’ learning allowed researchers to map how long it might take students to get back on grade level
“We had that data in real time,” she told The 74
“and we were able to figure out what kind of support we needed to put in place.”
Infante-Green also discussed the state’s efforts to wean districts off federal relief funds and measure the additional money’s impact
This interview has been edited for length and clarity
You’re among the state superintendents who began their tenure before the pandemic
What kind of perspective does that give you on recovery?
The leaders that were here before the pandemic
during the pandemic and are still here — and there aren’t too many of us — we do see a couple of things
One is the way that we were able to pivot and do things in such short fashion
That tells us the possibility of what we can do moving forward
I have to think about how we support people
we were able to pay for interim assessments so we could have data at the state level
and we talked about the areas that we really needed to focus on
Everybody thought it was going to be the older grades
but it was really the younger kids that were impacted
Speaking of data, the Education Recovery Scorecard from Harvard and Stanford universities gives us a district-level view of how students are doing that we don’t get from the National Assessment of Educational Progress or from the Trial Urban District Assessment
Do you see more collaboration between NAEP and researchers in the future to do that work
We’re all in a place where we think that the things that we’ve done have made an impact
but we haven’t really done the research nationwide to pinpoint that exactly
We see the benefit of kids having more hours. In Providence in particular, we negotiated with the teachers union to get an extra 30 minutes a day, which is an extra 15 days a year. Gov. Dan McKee also has this program called Learn 365
where mayors open centers so kids can go there after school
It’s about really doubling down on the things that they need.
I wanted to shift to one of the biggest topics on everyone’s mind
the expiration of federal relief funds and the so-called fiscal cliff
Do you expect to apply for an extension?
Our districts have been doing a good job of getting the kids the support that they need
But I am going to be the number one advocate for continued funding
I know that there’s no appetite for it in Washington
“I am going to be the number one advocate for continued funding
I know that there’s no appetite for it in Washington.”
Inline pullquote: “I am going to be the number one advocate for continued funding
I know that there’s no appetite for it in Washington.”
Our math scores are back to where they were pre-pandemic
but we don’t think that’s where we should be
It almost seems unfair that now we’re just going to say
we’ve seen results and now we’re just gonna take it away.”
The birth rate is down. We knew that was coming. Across the nation, they’re closing school buildings, laying off employees. We held districts harmless for two years with their enrollment loss. And this is the first year that they’re going to get 40% of funding for each student they lost
Then the second year they’re going to get 25% of that funding so there isn’t just a cliff
Where’s that money going to come from?
There is this desire to have a gradual decline as opposed to the money just going away
It’s not just the expiration of relief funds
It’s also the decline in population.
How much of a cushion is that for districts?
They are going to have to get rid of staff
Many of them have coaches that will probably be gone
I think the mental health positions are going to be gone
These positions really helped kids transition back into school
Inline pullquote: “They are going to have to get rid of staff
We’ll lose not just positions, but support. Tutoring after school is going to be very difficult to do. For Providence, those extra 30 minutes are going to go away
All the districts are going to have a deficit
What has the state done to try to measure the impact of those funds?
We can track the kids that have been with them to see what’s worked
What are we going to really keep our eye on
You mentioned some specific efforts in Providence
and I know a lot of families there are anxious for different reasons
but there isn’t enough space. What do you say to families in traditional schools as well as those on waiting lists for charters?
I believe in families having the ability to be in the best school for their kid
whether that be our traditional schools or our charters
What’s interesting about Providence is that about 19,000 children apply to charter schools and there are only 22,000 students in the district
But my role in this intervention is also to ensure that the existing schools are high-quality
That may feel uncomfortable for certain people.
Inline pullquote: “What’s interesting about Providence is that about 19,000 children apply to charter schools and there are only 22,000 students in the district
Last year, we closed down two schools [Lauro and Feinstein elementary schools]. With Feinstein
we fixed the roof three times and it continued to leak
And there was a sewer leak in the basement
Teachers had buckets by the windows to collect rain
It costs a lot of money to heat and run those schools
We have to start making decisions for the district that are fiscally and educationally sound
but we have to think about the district as a whole
At the same time, you have to think about the demand for seats in charter schools. Stop the Wait RI
says there were 31,000 applications for charter schools for next school year
an increase over 2023-24 of more than 3,000
These schools that we’ve closed down, we don’t own the buildings
Charters are welcome to apply for buildings that have been taken offline
Charter schools go through a rigorous application process
but it will be the same providers at this point
what needs to happen for Providence schools to return to local control
we’d look at how much progress has been made
There are things that have to be true — whether it’s structurally sound
whether the board is ready to take it back
whether the city is fiscally able to support the district.
What we don’t want is some of the progress that has been made to slide backwards

Rhode Island Education Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green isn’t going anywhere
The State Council on Elementary and Secondary Education is meeting tomorrow night to consider extending Infante-Green’s contract
which is currently scheduled to expire April 25
The council will meet in executive session to conduct Infante-Green’s annual performance evaluation
and then it is scheduled to consider giving Chairwoman Patricia DiCenso the authority to negotiate a new contract with the commissioner
Infante-Green’s extension is subject to approval by the full Board of Education
but that’s more of a formality than anything else
No details on Infante-Green’s new contract have been released
but she earned $296,174 during the 2023-2024 fiscal year
The extension is significant for three reasons:
It will almost certainly guarantee her a job beyond the 2026 election no matter who wins the race
she could either stay put or be in a position to have her contract bought out if a new governor wants to make a change.)
There’s a good chance that she’ll remain in power through the end of the state takeover of Providence schools
That’s not entirely common with state interventions
which often include multiple leadership changes during those periods
Infante-Green has already held the job longer than her immediate predecessor
and she is likely to outlast the tenure of former commissioner Deborah Gist
Infante-Green still has ways to go if she wants to best Rhode Island’s longest-serving commissioner
Peter McWalters was commissioner for 17 years and six months

While he has potential as a wide receiver at the next level
I like him better in a part-time offensive role to maximize his elite ball skills and fluidity as a cornerback in coverage
you can expect him to play a role on both sides of the ball
The Raiders jump ahead of the New York Giants to secure their own top quarterback in this mock draft simulation
they’ll still be in a good position to select their quarterback of the future
With his effortless arm strength and his improvisational skills
Cam Ward stakes a strong claim to being the top quarterback in this year’s class
How he compares to prospects at his position from the 2024 NFL Draft is another discussion
but you have to shoot as high as you can at the quarterback position
Ward has arguably the highest ceiling of the quarterbacks in the 2025 class
It seems like the New England Patriots have their guy at quarterback in Drake Maye
They could go in a lot of different directions with the No
the best idea is to just go with the best player available

Carter is a freak athlete off the edge who came into the 2024 season with high expectations and managed to surpass them
His speed and agility make him dizzying to block for offensive tackles
and he’s a densely-built player with long arms and a deep arsenal of pass-rushing moves
He has superstar potential and shouldn’t fall out of the first four picks
Though the Jacksonville Jaguars didn’t manage Trevor Lawrence’s rookie contract window very well
that doesn’t mean all hope is lost in Jacksonville
If they land a top-five pick in the 2025 NFL Draft
they would have a chance at a true blue-chipper at either side of the ball
Much will be said about Mason Graham’s athleticism and quick hands giving him significant pass-rushing value as a defensive tackle
I’m an even bigger fan of his pad level
He looks the part of an immediate contributor with Pro Bowl potential
After trading back and picking up draft capital in 2025 and beyond, the Tennessee Titans find themselves with plenty of flexibility in this 2025 NFL Mock Draft
It would make sense for them to invest in a high-level talent at an important position
would give Tennessee a tremendous young core up front
The New York Jets have Quinnen Williams at defensive tackle already
but they lack a long-term answer alongside him on the defensive interior
With a potent 2025 NFL Draft class at the position
they could be in a strong position to take advantage
A freakish ball of physical upside, Walter Nolen unlocked his athletic tools in a way he hadn’t previously with his tremendous campaign with Ole Miss in 2024
and urgency to get into the opposing backfield can make him a potential disruptor in the pros
The Carolina Panthers started to build some momentum in the final weeks of the regular season
but one hurdle they haven’t been able to clear has been a subpar pass-rushing unit
the 2025 NFL Draft class seems deep at edge rusher
There’s a lot to like with Mykel Williams
and part of that comes before you even turn on the tape
He has a chiseled frame with tremendous length
he’s still developing his hand usage but possesses impressive athleticism and power that helps him overwhelm opponents
15 and 46 and a 2026 fourth from the Falcons
If you’re looking for the total package at cornerback, Will Johnson is your guy
he’s a well-rounded defensive back with a high floor and a very high ceiling
but when you compare their film at cornerback

Those who have watched Missouri over the years know that Armand Membou has always been a physical specimen
and power have been apparent throughout his time in college
that his technique took a big leap to match his physical tools
Ashton Jeanty put up video-game numbers for Boise State this year
He’s an intelligent runner with the agility
and value on passing downs needed to project as a high-impact starter in the backfield
Kelvin Banks Jr. has one of the highest ceilings of the offensive prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft
and impressive agility with proper lower-half flexibility
His hand usage remains the biggest concern
he has potential to be a long-term starter anywhere along the offensive line
The consensus for the Indianapolis Colts in Round 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft seems to either be linking them to a tight end or a safety
If they find themselves in position to draft a top prospect at one of those positions
A second-team CSN All-American this year, Tyler Warren was incredibly productive for Penn State and looked every bit as good as his stats were in 2024
He’s a big-bodied tight end with ideal play strength
and fluidity to make him a true every-down impact player in the NFL
With the Chicago Bears trading back from No
they still get the chance to land one of the top defensive players in the 2025 NFL Draft
as they’ve proven that they can hang with just about any team in the league
they’ve also shown that they’re vulnerable to losing to just about any team in the league too
Part of their inconsistency can be cut out with improvements along the front seven this offseason
After his All-American season which saw him tally 17.0 sacks
Mike Green finds himself as one of the top defensive linemen in the 2025 NFL Draft
He’s a freak athlete whose explosiveness helped him dominate the Sun Belt
but he also has a deep technical arsenal to shed blocks and generate penetration into opponents’ backfields
While the Cincinnati Bengals’ biggest storyline heading into the 2025 offseason is the impending free agency of star wide receiver Tee Higgins
it shouldn’t be overlooked that the defense needs reinforcements
Shemar Stewart is essentially a supersized defensive end
possessing prototypical length and a powerful frame that carries nearly 290 pounds very well
READ MORE: ‘Generational Athlete’ — Stewart Turns Heads at NFL Draft Combine
combined with his elite size-adjusted athleticism and tenacious playing style
should see him selected in Round 1 come April
As the only team with double-digit wins to not make the playoffs this year, the Seattle Seahawks need a boost to get them out of that “good but not great” category
That process would certainly benefit from additions to the offensive line
Had Josh Simmons not gotten injured in the regular season
one could argue he was on his way into the OT1 conversation
he may claim that title in April because he is a tremendous mover for the position with great body control and a high football IQ
Over the last few years, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have invested capital along the defensive line quite often. Outside of edge rusher YaYa Diaby
their draft picks haven’t lived up to their respective billings just yet
That could push them to pursue a defender for their front seven in the 2025 NFL Draft
There’s plenty of versatility with Jalon Walker
as he’s an elite athlete with tremendous burst off the edge and impressive range as a tackler in space
He might be a little smaller for a full-time edge rusher
but if utilized as an off-ball linebacker with regular blitz responsibilities
he could be an intriguing Swiss Army knife for an NFL defense
Amid low expectations coming into 2024, the Denver Broncos made a playoff appearance and looked like a well-oiled machine with Bo Nix at quarterback
they would be wise to invest in his supporting cast
Though overshadowed slightly by Warren’s production, Colston Loveland is still an outstanding prospect in his own right
He’s more of a fluid athlete who can stretch the field and thrive on the seam
and his pass-catching upside makes him worthy of a first-round selection
There’s a lot to like about the Pittsburgh Steelers’ roster
even if their future at the quarterback position is up in the air
they’re not in a great position to find their future face of the franchise
but they could help our whichever quarterback they choose with a talented wide receiver
Luther Burden III’s production dropped in 2024 compared to his All-American 2023 season
He’s elite after the catch with the ball-carrier vision
and lateral quickness needed to make him a home-run hitter on any given play
If he continues to develop as a route runner
the sky’s the limit for the Missouri product
Jim Harbaugh places a particular emphasis on the trenches, and things seem to be coming along with the Los Angeles Chargers’ offensive line
they could still use some reinforcements on their interior defensive line
Kenneth Grant is a sturdy anchor at defensive tackle who can draw double-team blocks and has the raw power and leverage to stand his ground
When you factor in elite size-adjusted athleticism that should be reflected in his testing numbers
you have a player who should be at least a top-20 pick
they could stand to invest in the position early in the 2025 NFL Draft
There are more physical cornerbacks in this class than Jahdae Barron
but you’d have a hard time finding cornerbacks more fluid
and intelligent with the playmaking mentality that he has
His inside-outside versatility and ability to play safety in a pinch make him a valuable piece for a secondary
Because of their trade-up for Dallas Turner, the Minnesota Vikings currently don’t have their original draft picks in the second
They might make trades to recoup some of that capital back
Nick Emmanwori is a lengthy
versatile defensive back who can cover in the box
He’s explosive with impressive ball skills
and his rare physical profile could see him utilized all over the field in Minnesota’s defense
After a tremendous 2023, the Houston Texans’ offense took a step back in 2024
Part of that came down to injuries at the wide receiver position
but another aspect of the regression was inconsistent offensive line play
Tyler Booker has a squatty frame with a powerful anchor that makes it difficult for opposing defenders to push the pocket against him
He’s also quite an impressive athlete for a bigger guard
giving him plenty of potential once he gets to the next level
but he needs someone else to carry the load alongside him
Emeka Egbuka is a sturdy
reliable receiver with good hands and quick lateral movements as both a route runner and a ball carrier
Don’t let the hype around his past and current Buckeyes teammates fool you; Egbuka’s tape looks the part of a future NFL starting wide receiver
A behemoth of an offensive tackle with a nasty demeanor, Aireontae Ersery is capable of dominating edge rushers at the point of attack
His size-adjusted athleticism is also impressive
it’s very tough for opposing defenders to disengage
Injuries to their defense hurt the Detroit Lions significantly down the stretch
making overall depth an expected priority for them this offseason
they found themselves hurting in big games along the defensive line as starters went down
It’s a loaded defensive tackle class
but Derrick Harmon has the tools to warrant his name being mentioned among the best of them
and power that’s maximized in how active his hands are when he’s rushing the passer up the middle
Jayden Daniels, Dan Quinn, and the Washington Commanders as a whole surpassed expectations in a major way in 2024
Though they fell a game short of the Super Bowl
a few more smart moves this offseason could help them get over the hump
Matthew Golden has been the subject of plenty of buzz in recent weeks
intelligent route runner with impressive body control attacking the ball in the air
He doesn’t have an elite physical trait
but he’s a well-rounded target who should be a strong complementary starting receiver in the NFL
it will be key for them to build as strong of a defense as possible
There’s plenty to love with Malaki Starks
and physicality scouts look for in a modern NFL safety prospect
Though inconsistent with his pursuit angles as a tackler
he has a vast majority of the tools to eventually be one of the most well-rounded safeties in the league
As if it wasn’t clear before the Super Bowl, the Kansas City Chiefs have proven that they need an upgrade at offensive tackle
Kingsley Suamataia could become a good starter in time
Oregon has produced some tremendous offensive linemen over the years, and Josh Conerly Jr. might be the most athletic of the bunch on tape
He has the lateral quickness and footwork in pass protection to neutralize speed rushers and the pad level to maximize what he has to work with from a play strength perspective
Nic Scourton is a powerful edge rusher with a muscular
heavy build that carries his listed 285 pounds very well
He has some of the most refined hand usage you’ll see in an edge rusher in this draft class
and his short-area quickness is better than you’d expect for a man of his size
42 and 109 and a 2026 fourth from the Jets
With Aaron Rodgers on the way out
the Jets could end up finding another veteran in a trade or free agency to take over as their starting quarterback
don’t rule out them targeting a young quarterback as their heir apparent
The aptly-named Jaxson Dart has a strong arm and ideal ball placement across the middle of the field
He’s also shown some dual-threat capabilities as a runner
He doesn’t seem like a quarterback ready to start right away
but he’s shown tools over his time at Ole Miss that could project him as a future starter at the NFL level
Though their first-round pick will likely be used on a quarterback
the Giants also have a glaring need at cornerback that needs to be fixed
A big riser up draft boards in recent weeks, Azareye’h Thomas didn’t allow a single touchdown in coverage in 2024
physical boundary cornerback with impressive speed for a taller player at his position
Donovan Ezeiruaku has more than enough arm length to stick around in the pros
After trading back and boosting their offensive line in Round 1 of this mock draft
the Titans could look to enhance their defensive line with a talented edge rusher who can get after the quarterback
After addressing their interior defensive line with their first-round pick in this 2025 NFL Mock Draft
the Jaguars could look to boost their secondary with another one of their early selections
Shavon Revel Jr
is a physical freak with tremendous length and ball skills for a cornerback
and he’s a much better athlete than most taller corners
He falls out of Round 1 due to a season-ending injury
but he’s a high-upside flyer that a team will take a chance on
With the Titans giving Will Levis a chance in this 2025 NFL Mock Draft
they would be wise to try to get the most out of him by improving their offensive infrastructure
The FBS leader in receiving yards per game this season, Tre Harris brings an intriguing combination of size
and agility that could make him a dangerous threat at all levels of the field in the pros
There’s a chance Texas has two offensive tackles selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft
but if Cameron Williams falls into Round 2
a tackle-needy team like the Patriots would be pleased
As the Patriots look to continue their rebuild and invest in important positions
one of their biggest needs heading into the 2025 NFL Draft is their offensive line
Williams isn’t as consistent as his teammate Banks
but he possesses superior size and still has the length
and freakish movement skills to give him a very high ceiling at the next level
The Bears have plenty of cap space to work with
making it likely they’ll add at least one new starter to their offensive line in free agency
there’s a decent chance they’ll still need to invest in a lineman early in the 2025 NFL Draft
Donovan Jackson’s ability to kick outside to left tackle immediately after Simmons’ injury is genuinely impressive
The former is definitely more of a guard in the pros
but his power and agility didn’t look too out of place outside
With needs on both sides of the ball, the Saints can go in a lot of different directions with this pick. If you were to build a defensive end in a lab, he would be built exactly like Landon Jackson
With Cameron Jordan nearing the end of his NFL career and Chase Young slated to hit free agency
the edge rusher position seems like a good place for the Saints to focus
and he’s shown some nice development in how he uses his hands to shed blocks throughout his collegiate career
the Bears have a need for a long-term defensive tackle answer opposite Gervon Dexter Sr
With the strength of this draft class at the position
it wouldn’t be surprising if Chicago targeted an interior defender early in the 2025 NFL Draft
Tyleik Williams is an explosive interior defender with a low center of gravity who can generate pressure on passing downs and eat up gaps in the run game
and it feels like he could start right away at a decent level with the potential to become a quality starter in due time
A versatile defensive lineman who can rush off the edge and along the interior
Alfred Collins is an explosive man for his size with ideal instincts against the run and an intriguing combination of size and speed
After trading down from their original slot
the Browns find themselves in a position to add additional draft capital while still adding a high-quality prospect to their defensive line
Though injuries played a factor in the 49ers’ poor season
the performance of their defense also played a role
This could make San Francisco target defensive players with some of their early picks
Had it not been for a season-ending injury, Benjamin Morrison would likely find himself selected in the first round
an NFL team picking on Day 2 could land themselves a potential steal in the physical
Micah Parsons is one of the best edge rushers in the NFL, but with DeMarcus Lawrence slated to hit free agency this offseason
the Cowboys could end up investing an early-round selection into their defensive line
With his impressive length and a frame that’s done a great job of putting on weight without sacrificing speed, Princely Umanmielen has a high ceiling at the NFL level
He maximizes it with a high power and good spatial awareness when setting the edge too
After adding to their tight end room in Round 1 of this 2025 NFL Mock Draft
the Colts could emphasize their secondary with some of their other early picks this year
A two-time first-team All-American in Xavier Watts could do just that
and intelligence to be an impact starter at safety
Most mock drafts are lower on him than I am
but make no mistake about it — he’s a top-50 talent in this class in my eyes
With the Bears having acquired an extra second-round pick by trading back in Round 1 of this hypothetical
they would have an opportunity to give new head coach Ben Johnson a strong running back tandem like what he had in Detroit
His collegiate production was pedestrian, but Isaiah Bond’s tape was certainly not
He’s an elite athlete with quick cuts out of his breaks as a route runner
and his potential as a deep threat is palpable
but they’re missing that one steady third piece to make their passing attack that much more dangerous
For all the talent the Dolphins have at skill positions
their trenches on both sides of the ball will need some work if they’re going to make their way out of NFL purgatory
A double-down along the offensive line wouldn’t be surprising
North Dakota State has had two offensive linemen selected on Day 2 of the NFL Draft in the last four years
an experienced starter with a nasty demeanor
could make that three players in five years
After adding to their defensive line in Round 1 of this mock draft
the Bengals may want to consider adding another weapon for their passing attack
route-running awareness against zone coverage
Mason Taylor seems like a solid “U” tight end who can line up in multiple alignments for an offense at the NFL level
The hero of the Cotton Bowl for his strip-sack and fumble recovery for a touchdown against Texas
Jack Sawyer’s powerful style of rushing and high-effort play was a massive boost to Ohio State’s defense over the years
It especially came in handy as they pushed their way to a national championship
The Seahawks seem likely to invest an early pick along their offensive line in the 2025 NFL Draft
but don’t be stunned if they throw another edge rusher into the mix
especially if they cut Dre’Mont Jones
As previously mentioned, the Broncos would be wise to spend draft capital heavily on offensive weapons for Nix. If Javonte Williams walks in free agency
they’ll need to bring another running back into the mix
Najee Harris is slated to hit free agency this offseason
and with bigger needs on the Steelers’ roster
they might be better off saving the money and drafting his replacement at running back instead
Quinshon Judkins would be a strong addition to the Steelers’ backfield
as he has the ball-carrier vision and big-play speed to make him a threat just about any time he touches the ball
The Buccaneers don’t even necessarily have a bad defense
but they’re still a few pieces away before they can be considered a complete unit
One of those positions in need of an upgrade is the cornerback position
Maxwell Hairston had six interceptions and three pick-sixes in the last 20 games he played at Kentucky
athletic cornerback who recognizes route concepts quickly and has the deep speed needed to defend in deeper zone-coverage shells
one of the biggest needs on the Packers’ roster heading into the 2025 offseason is their defensive line
With his elite production in 2024 and his tremendous athleticism as a route-runner and as a ball-carrier after the catch, Harold Fannin Jr. has solidified himself as one of the top tight ends in the 2025 NFL Draft
His ability to stretch the field is beyond what most players at his position are capable of doing
Even though the Chargers’ passing attack surpassed expectations going into the 2024 season
After adding to their secondary with safety Malaki Starks in Round 1
the Bills focus on their defensive line with a hot name at defensive tackle
Darius Alexander has generated recent momentum in draft circles
He’s a physical defensive tackle who uses his hands well and has the knowhow to serve as a reliable interior threat on run and passing downs
Lacking their own second-round pick is a bummer for the Panthers
but they luckily still have a pick in Round 2 after trading down with the Rams in the second round of last year’s draft
It took two transfers for him to get there
but Trey Amos finally finds himself strongly on NFL radars as an early-round prospect
He’s an explosive athlete at cornerback with fluid hips and ideal deep speed
and he’s sticky enough in man coverage to consistently stay in the wide receiver’s hip pocket
Though he’s played quite a bit as a 3-technique or as far out as a 5-technique
Sanders best as an athletic 1-technique who can generate pressure up the A-gap with his quickness of the ball and his raw power at the point of attack
The Texans have a dominant edge-rushing duo in the form of Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter
but their interior defensive line left a lot to be desired in 2024
That could change if they invest at the position in the draft this April
It’s tough to pinpoint multiple severe needs on the Ravens’ roster
but they could need an eventual replacement at edge rusher for Kyle Van Noy
Jordan Burch is a freak athlete with the size and length needed to wow scouts before he even steps onto the field
he’s quick off the line of scrimmage and has shown development in how he uses his hands to stack and shed blocks
One could argue the Lions have the best offensive line in the NFL
but starting guard Kevin Zeitler is slated to hit free agency
he’s hardly a long-term answer as someone who turns 35 in March
Savaiinaea has the potential to be a good tackle but a great guard
Chicago kicks him inside in this hypothetical
The Commanders would be smart to invest in their offensive line early in the 2025 NFL Draft
and they’ll have a few enticing opportunities to do so with the strength of this offensive line class
Wyatt Milum is a heavy-handed lineman with solid footwork in pass protection and precise strikes at the point of attack
he should be a solid starter in the league
Jihaad Campbell arguably has the highest ceiling of any off-ball linebacker in this year’s class
With freakish athleticism for a bigger off-ball defender
he’s raw as a processor in between the tackles but has physical tools for days
The Bills continue their defense-first approach in this 2025 NFL Mock Draft
this time adding a potential long-term solution at linebacker with their other pick in Round 2
the Chiefs’ defense has played a major role in their multi-year runs to the Super Bowl
but it wouldn’t hurt to add another talented defensive lineman to their interior rotation
if you want a rock-solid run defender up the middle who can hold double-team blocks and stack and shed blocks well at the line of scrimmage
Given their talent on both sides of the ball, the Eagles don’t enter the Super Bowl with too many needs. Should they be unable to afford an extension for star linebacker Zack Baun
that position could open up a need on their defense
Carson Schwesinger has been able to take advantage and shoot his way up draft boards
He worked his way up from a walk-on in 2022 to an All-American in 2024
and he has a red-hot motor that helps him maximize his mobility
An athletic three-technique defensive tackle
Omarr Norman-Lott is one of the best interior pass rushers in the 2025 NFL Draft
he has potential to be a fixture for an NFL defensive line for a long time
Elijah Arroyo is a reliable run blocker who brings ideal effort in the trenches, and he has better deep speed than most at his position. The Chiefs will need to find a replacement for Travis Kelce some day
and while that’s a very high bar to reach
Arroyo could be a good starting option for them in the future
With the Raiders giving up picks to move up for Shedeur Sanders
the picks they keep should focus on surrounding the quarterback with talent
intelligent receiver with great hands and a high route-running IQ
but the upside with Darien Porter is immense
A former wide receiver at the college level
he has tremendous length and ball skills with the raw track speed to give him physical tools worth developing
Drops and route-running footwork are areas of improvement for Savion Williams
but he’s a freak athlete with elite size
and ball-carrier vision with the ball in his hands that makes him worth taking a Day 2 flyer on
There’s still progress that needs to be made with his pad level and hand usage, but Emery Jones Jr. has all of the physical attributes needed to develop into a quality starting offensive lineman in the NFL if he lands in the right spot
quick edge rusher with refined hand usage and impressive collegiate production
and his physical tools would make him a valuable addition to the Falcons’ edge-rusher rotation
Las Vegas adds onto its secondary in the form of Denzel Burke here
who’s a long and competitive cornerback who’s at his best when he plays close to the line of scrimmage and can use his scrappy demeanor and physicality to jam receivers through their stems
Elic Ayomanor is a big-bodied receiver who thrives along the boundary with his physicality
He’s a bit raw as a route runner but carries impressive physical potential at the next level
Though a tad raw as a processor and a bit undersized
Oluwafemi Oladejo is an explosive edge rusher with active hands who can stack and shed well against the run
He offers intriguing developmental potential with long-term starting upside
Marcus Mbow has starting experience at both tackle and guard
and one has to wonder if he could serve as an effective center
he’s a coordinated blocker with the athleticism and hand usage needed to hold his own in more zone-heavy run schemes at the next level
Taking a wide receiver early like this is hardly the Patriots giving up on their 2024 NFL Draft picks — it’s just taking a shot on another talented receiver for Drake Maye. Jayden Higgins is a coordinated
big-bodied receiver with impressive ball skills who rarely drops passes
The consistency isn’t quite there yet with Deone Walker
He’s a massive defensive tackle who draws double-team attention and has serious quickness for such a big defender
A versatile defender with interior value on certain passing downs
Jared Ivey is a big-bodied edge rusher with a red-hot motor who fits the mold the Commanders have targeted over the years
Tate Ratledge is the son of a former NFL player
and that’s reflected in his polished play
He’s a powerful guard prospect who lands his hands well at the point of attack and can absorb punishment in pass protection
Xavier Restrepo is a sure-handed slot receiver who’s a crafty route runner with good spatial awareness against zone coverage and great burst coming out of his breaks
He feels like a high-floor receiver prospect who could contribute in Cincinnati’s offense
and fast enough to translate to the NFL level
He’s a high-motored player who flies to the ball in pursuit
Don’t be surprised if you hear his name a lot more as the pre-draft process heats up
It’s entirely possible Jacob Parrish goes higher than this in real life
A recent riser up boards who’s still flying somewhat under the radar
he is a smaller yet sticky coverage cornerback with a high football IQ and an aggressive mentality attacking the ball
A three-year starter in college with ideal physicality and instincts at the linebacker position, Chris Paul Jr
is a reliable tackler who should be able to contribute quickly in the NFL
Pegues as the fullback in Ole Miss’ special packages who ran for seven touchdowns in 2024
he’s a twitchy defensive tackle with a low center of gravity and quick hands deconstructing blocks
Jalen Royals is a productive collegiate wide receiver who isn’t particularly elite in any one aspect of his game
but he’s a smart player with reliable hands and a well-rounded game that helps him get open consistently
Joshua Farmer doesn’t seem like a Day 1 starter
but his athleticism and motor makes him worth adding to Green Bay’s defensive-line rotation in hopes he can improve his counter moves and grow into a starting role
Between his stints at Clemson and Texas, Andrew Mukuba showed that he’s a rangy safety with the instincts and athleticism in coverage to start at the NFL level
Listed at 6-foot-8 with impressive foot speed for his size
Ozzy Trapilo has the measurements and athleticism that make him worthy of a shot on Day 2
Dorian Strong is a reliable tackler at cornerback with good length and ideal ball skills to project as a potential starter along the perimeter
Bhayshul Tuten is a productive collegiate running back with blazing speed and a low center of gravity
he’s one of the best pure runners in this 2025 NFL Draft class
There’s plenty of potential with Anthony Belton
who’s raw in how he uses his hands and distributes his weight
That’s because of his impressive frame and length
and his pure play strength at the point of attack
The Vikings don’t have a ton of draft capital in the 2025 NFL Draft
but this compensatory pick lands them a stout defensive tackle who plays the run incredibly well in Jamaree Caldwell
A big-bodied safety with a large catch radius and impressive effort in a variety of defensive alignments
is a toolsy defensive back who would be a welcomed addition to the Dolphins’ secondary
Barrett Carter’s collegiate career prompts more questions than answers
and capabilities in zone coverage across the middle of the field
One of the top small-school prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft
Charles Grant brings an intriguing combination of arm length
and coordination that could make him a future starter at either guard or tackle in the pros with a redshirt year
Defensive-line depth continues to be a priority for the Lions in this mock draft, as they add a high-floor, powerful edge rusher with refined hands in Ashton Gillotte to close out Day 2
