newsPost Malone Reveals Artwork for New Country Album, ‘F-1Trillion’, Created By Gonzalo LebrijaBy Maxim Mower
After confirming the name and release date for his momentous debut country album, F-1Trillion
Post Malone has shared the eye-catching artwork for the project
The visuals were created by Gonzalo Lebrija
a renowned modern artist who has become a leading figure in Mexico's multi-media scene
crafting a range of works including sculptures and visual illusions
Post Malone's F-1Trillion cover draws inspiration from previous pieces in Lebrija's catalogue
which featured a car suspended on a lake in much the same way as Posty's artwork
the car is replaced by a two-tone blue truck
nodding to the inspiration behind the title
which is a play on the classic Ford F-150 4x4
While Gonzalo Lebrija put together the artwork for F-1Trillion, the creative direction was led by PLAYLAB, INC. which also took the helm for Post Malone and Morgan Wallen's ‘I Had Some Help’ cover - another visual that aligns with the overarching truck theme
It's undoubtedly a striking artwork that
captures the way in which Post Malone is immersing himself in the world of country music
while still putting his own spin on the genre and not losing sight of his signature sound
F-1Trillion is already one of the most hotly anticipated albums of the year, with Post Malone continuing to tease unreleased music ahead of the project. Posty's viral collaboration with Blake Shelton, ‘Pour Me a Drink’
With F-1Trillion not dropping until August 16th, we suspect the ‘Chemical’ hitmaker will treat us to another single or two ahead of the official release date, with fans still clamouring for Post Malone to drop his Luke Combs link-up, ‘I Ain't Got a Guy For That’.
'Study on the cante's of Lebrija', by José Valencia. XXIII Biennial of Flamenco from Seville. Nissan Cartuja Auditorium. 26 Sep 2024. Photo: Photo archive La Bienal @Laura León
I entered the Cartuja and I got a whiff of homeland and snails. I knew many faces. Seville became a hamlet of Lebrija in a moment. I'm home now! I thought. Because its people treat you as if you were part of the family. With the warmth of a fraternal embrace we put our flesh at the mercy of the cante"Today everything is Lebrija," he said. Jose Valencia. And created a mess.
In the Lebrija neighborhood the tonás were made, the martinetes and the deblas and the cante by soleá
It smelled like Carrasco y Malena, Valencia and Peña. The aroma brought the tentacles rocking the melodies. And they penetrated the senses, recognizing the skin the color of their harmony. The times were squared. And in honor of Popa Pinini José curled the touches, melting Utrera and Lebrija in the cante by cantiñas.
The Lebrija wicker is measured by surnames. The seguiriya is called Bacán. Chacho Bastian created those tonal cadences that José drew with mastery. He endorsed three arreons and dressed the cante in mourning, searching for the black laments in the centers of their wounds.
The solemn soleá, the rocking tientos, rhythmic cantiñas… The guitars of John Requena y Peter Maria Peña They carried this gypsy on their shoulders, marking the little paths. They gathered in the zenithal light and José's chest thundered hot for galleys when he remembered El Lebrijano. A deep shake that overwhelmed us, cursing our little hearts, saddened. Because nobody sings the galleys. And nobody like José, who drags in the flow of his veins the echoes of John the Great.
Whose are those tangos, José? - Manuel de Paula's mother. He asked permission from his uncles, the respected gypsies, to dig into the canteHe dug through time until he found the personal melismas that rescue Lebrija and his attributions. He dusted off these binary measures of unmistakable flavour that have Lebrija tattooed on the palate of his sound. And he gave them to Seville.
The Lebrija wicker is measured by surnames. The seguiriya is called Bacán. Chacho Bastian created those tonal cadences that José drew with mastery. He endorsed three arreons and dressed the cante in mourning, searching for the black laments in the centers of their wounds. Who fired that shot?
Lebrija hurts. He puts his finger on the wound, he screams sweetly. He sifts the ducas, weaving the music between the strings of his guitars. Pedro Peña He was a magician. And he turned everything he dreamed into a hymn. Friends, there are no friends anymore… Say, say, Ana… but with elegance and beauty, far from the stridency, beautiful. José Valencia prostrated himself before his cante and tempered the Romance of the snails, which Pedro never recorded, melting the fans.
José Valencia presented the "project as a deep analysis of the cantes, their families and their way of conceiving and understanding this wonderful artistic expression. He gave a lesson in Lebrija, for his commitment and honor, for honoring his people, for love of art. He reviewed two centuries of cante in Lebrija and turned the theatre upside down with the help of his age. José came to revalidate his scepter. And he showed that thanks to him, here "today everything is Lebrija."

There’s a legend that local Episcopal priest Rev
Lorenzo Lebrija has heard many times — it dates back to 1922 and involves a priest in Jalisco
who struggles to keep an orphanage afloat until he inherits a tequila factory
He remembered this story while he and his husband
Troy Elder, were in Mexico almost two years ago, where they support a shelter for children in Mexicali and an orphanage in Tijuana
The shelter’s power was turned off for two weeks and Elder said
“I wish we could just drink their problems away.”
According to the tale of the priest and the tequila factory
an affluent American woman savors the product and wishes to take a batch home
but it’s during the era of prohibition
The priest consecrates the tequila and labels it as “Sanctus Aquam” (holy water) so she can take it across the border
She introduces it to other affluent Americans who also purchase it under its rechristened name and the profits save the orphanage
This legend inspired Lebrija to create his own tequila with the proceeds going to children’s shelters in Mexico.
Lebrija produced a flavor profile for a sipping tequila and took it to the Jalisco manufacturer
Lebrija branded the tequila Sanctus Aquam. In July, 960 bottles priced at $89.99 went on sale through sanctustequila.com. He hopes to release the same amount of bottles every quarter
raising $120,000 a year for children's shelters in Mexico
"The whole point of this is to raise money for the kids," Lebrija said
The importer has forfeited any fees and I only have to pay taxes to the federal government
Everyone helping me along the way realizes this is for a good cause and helping kids
it limits the opportunity to put the tequila in local restaurants and bars
There's a QR code on every bottle that explains the story of the tequila and its mission
you could use this coaster that has a QR code so the (customer) sees the story," Lebrija said.
It's not the first time a priest has sold liquor for self-sufficiency or a charitable cause. Benedictines are known for making wine
The recipe for the French liqueur Bénédictine D.O.M
was created in 1510 by Benedictine monk Don Bernardo Vincelli.
"If you think of holy water as an instrument to carry God's grace
then is this tequila not an instrument to carry God's grace to a population that's on the margins and forgotten?" Lebrija said
Just because it's not the holy water we think about used in churches or to bless people
it is holy in the sense of what it's meant to do."
Lebrija said the story of what led him to the priesthood "depends on who you ask" but he felt a lifelong calling to the priesthood
His mother often tells a story of him at 4 years old celebrating mass in Latin in the family bathroom by placing a cloth over the lid of the toilet and using it as an altar.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration from Florida International University and was president and CEO of Seraphic Fire and Firebird Chamber Orchestra in Miami
but decided to enter seminary at 39.
"I always saw the world through spiritual glasses
the joys of the world and all these other things
I'm influenced by my faith and it's at the core of who I am as a person," Lebrija said
that was the greatest joy I've ever felt in my life
I wish I actually did it when I was younger
I wouldn't be the person I am and all my experiences have led me to the priest I am today."
Lebrija serves as visiting clergy to Church of St
but being a rector or serving at just one church has never appealed to him.
"That is one quarter of being a priest in the parish
That's a true gift and there's such a holiness to the moment
like when I'm doing the Eucharist prayer and calling down the holy spirit
I can almost see Jacob's Ladder of the angels bring our concerns up to God and bringing God's grace
It's a palpable feeling in that space at that exact moment I miss."
Lebrija doesn't want anyone to think of him being sacrilegious for making and selling tequila — he takes his vows and his work in the church seriously and looks at the end results of being able to provide children living at shelters in Mexico with basic needs and the opportunity to go to school.
"We need to get past the age of just giving money and thinking 'my conscience is clear
I've given money' and think about being called to a sense of community and a relationship with other people
and that's important too," Lebrija said.

Dangling from a towering crane, the black 1975 Plymouth Duster glints in the summer sun as a team of workers carefully angles the polished hood to face N Broadway Avenue
Under the watchful eye of Mexican artist Gonzalo Lebrija
workers in hard hats guided the classic car nose down toward a hole lined with and surrounded by a black rubber waterproof membrane
"I like that it's really in a kind of garden, like an urban garden, and it's on this avenue, the Automobile Alley," Lebrija told The Oklahoman
and it’s nice when the work also can achieve some new ideas over time."
As midday traffic zipped along — with occasional slowdowns as drivers noticed the roadside action — the installation team on Tuesday perfectly parked Lebrija's car at its extraordinary off-the-ground angle
They then propped a ladder against the now-vertical undercarriage so one team member could climb up
remove the hefty hook and free the Plymouth from the crane
When the 2,500-pound car proved sturdily balanced on the armature attached under the front bumper
As a hose-wielding worker filled the 25-foot-by-50-foot reflecting pool under the Duster with 2,500 gallons of water
Steve Boyd poured a packet of black nontoxic dye into the manmade waves
"It's definitely not something you see every day,” said Boyd
Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center's exhibitions manager
"It looks awesome. ... There's a long history of the auto industry here in OKC, and obviously, Automobile Alley pays homage to that," said Oklahoma Contemporary Director Jeremiah Matthew Davis
"We do get a lot of walk-up and drive-up traffic ..
and we'll chalk that up as a win any time somebody stops and reverses course to see the art."
The inspiration for "Breve historia del tiempo" — which translates to "A Brief History of Time" — came to Lebrija more than 20 years ago
"The first idea really came from a kind of dream that I had of a car falling down into a lake and just stopping at the moment it touched the water
Then this image just started to grow up in my mind until I did it," Lebrija said
Lebrija devised "Entre la vida y la muerta," a 2008 performance piece that he pulled off by using a crane to drop another Plymouth Duster into a lake just outside of his home base in Guadalajara
He used a high-speed camera to immortalize his car drop and managed to capture a photograph of the moment just before the front bumper touched the water
the print changed the image on my conscious
you have this kind of vertigo sensation; you feel that the car really is giving you this idea of gravity force."
If he could reimagine the photo as a large-scale sculpture featuring the muscle car suspended over a reflecting pool
the artist figured he could give people a 3-D version of that feeling
what would happen just with the simple gesture of lifting a car and changing the direction of being horizontal and just put it vertical in water?” Lebrija said
Sometimes the production is not very simple
so sometimes simplicity takes a lot of effort
Known affectionately as "The Car," the sculpture is part of Mexico City’s famed La Colección Jumex. It is on loan to Oklahoma Contemporary through March 27
There's always a little bit of slowdown at the border
They did all this in a little less than two weeks."
The latest installation of his massive public sculpture marks Lebrija's OKC debut
"I always find (it) exciting to bring my work to new territories
It will always create different reactions," he said
"Public artwork should have the responsibility to engage not only art professionals
"This exhibition is many years in the making," Davis said
"We found a lot of parallels between the city of Guadalajara and the city of Oklahoma City."
The exhibit's title is Spanish for "The House That We Invented."
started to really invest in culture and art and design
The artists who are part of this exhibition — dating back from the '90s until more recently
more or less two generations of artists — have decided (that) instead of leaving for Mexico City
they were going to stay in Guadalajara and make it something special
we see a vision for how we can continue to grow and expand as a city and continue the ongoing cultural and economic renaissance," Davis said
The exhibit will feature works by Mexican artists who rose to international prominence in the 2000s such as Jose Dávila
"We've got a major Mexican-American population ... here in OKC — concentrated on the south side but really all over the metropolitan area — so much so that in fact, later this year, a Mexican consulate is opening in Oklahoma City," Davis said
so we're already an international city in that respect
But bringing in the Mexican consulate will add a new dimension to the city and to its standing internationally."
Oklahoma Contemporary already is planning a big Open House weekend Sept
23-24 to celebrate the debut of "La casa que nos inventamos."
"In a way, it's making up for lost time," Davis said. "We had planned for some amazing things to happen in March of 2020, and the COVID pandemic got in the way of those plans
But we're relaunching in some ways with this exhibition to make sure that everybody here in our community knows that this is their art center and we're open for business."
Oklahoma Contemporary will celebrate the arrival of Lebrija's classic car sculpture with a free opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m
The festivities will include live mariachi music
a cash bar and brief remarks from the artist
"The automobile for my generation — and for many other generations — I think is the most important object of the 20th century ..
with all the concepts and ideas that apply around the car
but also about this sense of freeness," Lebrija
"I think we are arriving to the end of an era now of the gasoline cars
transportation is changing — and they should change
Lebrija said people are free to interpret it as they wish
but it doesn't matter my concept anymore once it becomes in the public domain
All these stories that people start to make out (about it)

The Westport Book Shop is pleased to welcome mixed media artist Katya Lebrija as guest exhibitor for the month of January at the Book Shop’s Drew Friedman Art Place
Katya is exhibiting several pieces from her Destinations collection. These works freshly map both real and imagined places. The viewer is drawn in with strongly composed fields that feel unexpectedly light and free because they defy perspective. They might indicate a road somewhere
with aqueous palettes and amorphous forms beckoning elsewhere. Externally oriented
these pieces invite delightful deciphering and reflection
“My journey as an artist consists of endless exploration and experimentation. I am fascinated by using different materials in my art
and work with different mediums like acrylics

and I reinterpret reality by introducing abstract elements to my compositions,” said Katya
Katya was born in Mexico City. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design from Universidad Anáhuac in 1995. After graduating
she worked as a freelance Graphic Designer until December of 1999

Paramount announced the appointment of Eduardo Lebrija as executive VP and Regional Leader of Paramount Latin America
the executive arrived with his new role at Content Americas to take stock of what the group’s transformation was
and present some of his projects and initiatives in the region
“We are going through an interesting transformation that was necessary,” the executive began by explaining to ttvnews
“We have a very robust international content portfolio
where we have free and paid streaming platforms

taking this leadership and this commercial lead part
to be able to monetize all the platforms and really use the portfolio together to get more benefit out of it
It’s what they have commissioned me to do
To continue to work very hard on new projects throughout the region
Chile… everywhere in the region.”
The change also comes at a key moment for the industry
which continues to evolve in terms of platforms and players
“It’s an interesting moment,” Lebrija said
“It has advanced very quickly since streaming began very strongly
in all traditional media companies like ours today
The adaptation time must be faster and faster and that is an important part of what I am trying to do with all the teams”
the group is divided into three large verticals that cover film
“Those are the three different large verticals that we have
we have everything launched and everything advancing
“It’s a market where the future is going to dictate a lot for other markets
We launched first of all in the rest of the world

the Premier League for Mexico and Central America
we are about to launch it on Paramount+ and Pluto TV
The results that the Premier League has given us are extraordinary

Palm Springs Art Museum has announced a new installation coming to the lot across from the main campus — and residents can watch its progress live online.
Construction for "History of Suspended Time (A monument for the impossible)" by Gonzalo Lebrija
began March 24 and is being livestreamed on the museum's website
The art installation features a car that is suspended over a pool of liquid
seeming as if it is frozen in time, according to the museum. Construction is expected to be finished April 8
when the fences around the installation will be taken down
according to museum spokesperson Scott Slaven
The museum reopens April 1 after year-long closure due to COVID-19
“Gonzalo Lebrija’s installation encourages us to think about suspension and the passage of time—focusing on precise moments of stillness and impact." Rochelle Steiner
the museum's chief curator and director of public programs and education
said in a prepared statement. "Palm Springs Art Museum is thrilled to have the opportunity bring this large-scale work of art to the public."
The museum will present an exhibition titled "American Roads" in tandem with the installation, Steiner said; it is a "portfolio of photographs that capture our love of and dependence upon cars
while also contemplating the complexity of this country’s major highways and local roads.”
“This extraordinary installation encourages visitors to consider the automobile as a symbol of modern life and human aspiration,” Louis Grachos
the museum’s executive director and CEO
We’re gratified to be able to present this striking piece of public art for our community to experience not only now while much of Palm Springs remains under COVID restrictions
but also just as our museum reopens on April 1.”
the livestream will then be shifted to show the reconstruction of the Aluminaire House in the south parking lot
which is set to start at the beginning of May
The livestream of the installation's construction can be viewed on the Palm Springs Art Museum website at psmuseum.org/live?mc_cid=d985033c01&mc_eid=d5e9b70be4psmuseum.org

a practice that has its origins in farm work and ranching
and that developed into a sport following the agrarian reform of the early 20th century
It is the national sport of Mexico and is listed by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity
One of the events of the Charrería is called piales en el lienzo
in which a mare must be heeled by throwing a lariat to catch its hind legs
The event is a beautiful combination of horsemanship and roping skills
Lebrija uses the most popular elements of Mexican culture to delve into
disrupt and readjust the meaning of time and perpetuity
a time that longs for the end of social conventionalisms and patriarchy
This is quite an ambitious battle for Mexican society
the artist has created images and actions that turn on the concept of time
and does everything possible to slow it down
and fend off the related acceleration of time that is imposed by the power of the masses
and introduces us into a kind of transcendental meditation that brings us closer to a spiritual
A monolith rising from the Las Vegas Strip, the 67-story Fontainebleau Las Vegas is a compendium of meticulous details
reflecting the freshest perspectives of top hospitality designers and notable artists
while paying homage to the original Miami Beach resort
currently celebrating its 70th anniversary
the hotel and casino broke ground on the north-end of Las Vegas Boulevard
the project was mothballed during the 2008 recession until 2021
when original developer Jeffrey Soffer and Fontainebleau Development reacquired the property
the eagerly anticipated destination finally opened its doors in true Las Vegas style with an over-the-top celebration
While most Las Vegas resorts maintain extensive horizontal footprints
Fontainebleau Las Vegas is vertically integrated on 25 acres as the tallest occupied building in Nevada
Every tier is superbly positioned and well-balanced
with one its most exceptional attributes being the art collection curated by Fontainebleau Development President Brett Mufson
Art is a tenet of our culture,” Mufson says
noting that multiple mediums are represented
“A sophisticated city deserves sophisticated art and we will continue to build on our program.”
The epicenter of the collection is the installation of works by Urs Fischer
it is viewable from multiple vantage points
Flanking the undulating form are two large-scale murals—The Touch and The Eye
part of the Swiss artist’s Problem Paintings series
Mufson also acquired the five-panel Richard Prince painting Untitled (High Times) (2018-2019)
five panels of multi-colored roughly sketched figures juxtaposed against the building’s modernist design
inspired by original Fontainebleau architect Morris Lapidus
“This is the largest painting that Richard Prince has done
The artwork faces a mosaic by David Collins Studio
incorporating the Fontainebleau’s signature circles
which are represented on the floors as well
who never had any right angles in any of his designs
there are nod to the originator everywhere
Guests can easily discover examples of the iconic Fontainebleau bow tie in marble inlays
There’s even a multistory bowtie chandelier at the epicenter of the casino
“A sophisticated city deserves sophisticated art and we will continue to build on our program”
Floral designer Jeff Leatham
who has been lauded for his creations at FS Hotel George V
Paris and collaborations with brands like Chanel
created the bold florals on display throughout the resort
including at the arrival moment which features hundreds of roses bursting out from golden bowtie vessels of varying heights
guests are greeted by History of Suspended Time by Gonzalo Lebrija
a 2,500-pound 1966 Ford Galaxie suspended mid dive into a glassy pool of water
The work is meant to symbolize a frozen frame of impossibility come to life
much in the same way that Fontainebleau Las Vegas has overcome its challenges to become reality
a symbol of how tough this has been to get to where we are today,” says Mufson
Each one of the 3,644 hotel rooms and suites represents the latest and most advanced hospitality elements available
The pinnacle of luxury is the Fleur De Lis Suite Collection—spanning the top five floors of the tower
every part of the Fleur De Lis stay is personalized
as well as Leatham-designed floral arrangements and personalized welcome chocolates created by Executive Pastry Chef Patrice Caillot
Accommodations range from 1,000 square feet to the 10,000-square-foot penthouse
leather wrapped Nespresso machines from Giobagnara
and bespoke sundries and face masks from Knesko
Fleur de Lis guests also have access to a private fleet of Rolls-Royces
Being at the very top of the building also means close proximity to the David Rockwell-designed Poodle Room
a private members lounge with poodle sentinels on the crowning floor and the 12-seat ITO
an omakase led by Chef Masa Ito and Kevin Kim
Lissoni & Partners created the 55,000-square-foot two-level Lapis Spa & Wellness
situated within the Fontainebleau Las Vegas Wellness Corridor
The concept is inspired by the deep blue crystal lapis lazuli
in addition to the Celestial Waters Passport
Jeffrey Beers International designed the pool district as well as its 550,000-square-foot indoor and outdoor meeting and convention space
which will be revealed as the season evolves to capture two of Las Vegas’ most important demographics

“Celebrity tequilas be damned!”
So says a campaign from Cornett promoting Sanctus Aquam
Proceeds from sales help provide shelter for refugee families just south of the U.S.-Mexico border
Befitting that higher calling—and its name
Latin for “Holy Water”—the beverage is blessed by the reverend himself
“The money provides for many needs—food
water and even Zoom classes so that the kids don’t keep falling behind in their education
and to help their parents learn English,” says Rev
Sanctus Aquam is produced in Jalisco, Mexico, and costs $84-89, with a goal of raising $100,000 a year for Border Compassion
Roughly 300 cases (1,800 bottles) will be manufactured annually
providing 12 months of shelter and services for 150 families
Cornett launched a pro bono social push that plays off the tequila’s spiritual roots
a shot of tequila and salt as “The Holy Trinity.” Another shows a text bubble above da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” and asks “How do you say ‘another round’ in Latin?”
Lebrija’s inspiration for Sanctus Aquam came from a Mexican legend about a priest who saved an orphanage after he inherited a tequila factory by dodging prohibition laws
“It took about 16 months from idea to having the first bottle in my hand,” Rev
“This included the approval from the Mexican government to actually create a tequila
and the gazillion details that go into running a tequila brand.”
Palm Springs Art Museum has a new installation in the lot across from its main campus
Artist Gonzalo Lebrija's "History of Suspended Time (A monument for the impossible)" features a car suspended over a pool of liquid
seeming as if it is frozen in time, according to the museum.
The installation is meant to encourage thought about “suspension and the passage of time — focusing on precise moments of stillness and impact." said Rochelle Steiner
The museum will present an exhibition titled "American Roads" in tandem with the installation
according to Steiner. It is a "portfolio of photographs that capture our love of and dependence upon cars
while also contemplating the complexity of this country’s major highways and local roads,” Steiner said in a prepared statement

A California based clergyman with a passion for supporting innovation within churches will visit Scotland in March to run workshops focusing on how congregations can thrive
a priest within the Episcopal Church in the US
an organisation that works with congregations to help them to develop new ideas
he said: "The dynamic is changing - people aren't coming back to church as much and the things we're trying aren't necessarily working the way they're used to
"The idea was we wouldn't spend a lot of time writing a deep theological discussion of every single idea for something and wait for it to be finally approved - we'd go out and try it
"It's about figuring out the minimal possible effort to see if there's something in an idea
Lorenzo said that his "greatest hope" is for those attending the workshops to "go out and try things"
"Imagine you travel somewhere and you're lost
"Now imagine it's you and your best friend - you're just as lost but it doesn't feel as scary
"It will always feel better with a community around you - which is why we are Church
Two workshops will be offered through a partnership between the Church of Scotland and the Scottish Episcopal Church on Saturday 19 March
The goal is to bring together key changemakers from across both churches to learn from the TryTank initiative and imagine what that might look like in Scotland
He teaches a three-step framework which starts with research
then focuses on ideas of what might work and finally encourages people to think about the simplest way a project can be effectively tested
"I hope people will come to the workshop with actual ideas and we'll work them through the framework and see how it works," he says
Whilst acknowledging the challenges faced by all Christian denominations
Lorenzo is upbeat about the huge potential amongst church members
"What's been most surprising is how much good work there is going on out there that is innovative but that most people have been doing it on their own and we need to tell others about it," he said
One current project involves looking at the 1,730 congregations within the Episcopal Church of the US which have fewer than 29 people on a Sunday
"We created the 1730 project which is saying 'you're not done - how can we help you to be thriving?'
"Is it about having more than one service on a Sunday
"Are there resources that we can help you with so that if someone walked into your church they would see the Holy Spirit alive and present there?"
He is particularly keen for churches to look at ways of reaching out to younger generations
"The best evangelism I can do is when I turn to my family - my nieces and nephews for example
"Only one of the six of them has a close church relationship but I know that they're spiritual and have deep conversations about faith
"How can we do research looking at how they're meeting their spiritual needs right now
"All religion is to help us as humans to make spiritual meaning of our lives and our world
"As Christians we find meaning through the resurrection of Jesus
"My theory is they're finding it somewhere and we need to think about how can the church be there
we need to ask 'can we walk side by side with you there?'"
he acknowledges that tradition is also important
"The question is how do we preserve this but also
"There's a lot bias within church towards the status quo - if it's worked so well for hundreds of years why do we want to tinker with it
"We need to think about how we can get people to go from one place to another without losing them along the way."
The pandemic has shown that churches can move quickly to respond to people's needs
"When Covid first started there were people dying in hospitals and our priests couldn't get to them to administer the last rites
"Within seven days we developed a phoneline where people could call and 24 hours a day there would be a clergy person available to help- and you
"It didn't cost much and we had hundreds of members of the clergy wanting to volunteer."
As someone who once experimented with holding Eucharist spin classes
Lorenzo also emphasises that people shouldn't be afraid to try new things and fail
we're showing it's ok and it's a part of innovation
head of the Faith Action Programme for the Church of Scotland
projects and people all over the Kirk and we want to support grassroot innovation where ever it happens
"We also want to encourage a refreshed culture of creativity," he adds
"It is important that we become comfortable with trying the new
even if the outcomes are not what we thought they would be there is always something to learn

Katya Lebrija puts names to her works of art
but prefers that viewers have their own responses to the colorful works in the artist's oeuvre
"Each painting has a conversation," the artist said Monday
"My paintings tell a story that's different for each person."
Ms Lebrija was discussing her work with Rosemary Rau
where nearly two dozen of Ms Lebrija's works were being curated into place that morning
called "The Art of Conversation," is on view until June 22
Large scale works - most measuring at least 30 inches on one direction or the other - have been placed on the walls of the day spa and art gallery at 32 Church Hill Road
as well as the reactions of her staff as they arrived at the spa that morning
"This is going to be one of our best shows," she said
"It's great to see the staff coming in and looking at the art
and being very happy with these works around them."
Employees could be heard quietly speaking with Ms Lebrija as they saw the art that would be adorning their workplace
Others smiled as they looked over the growing collection of pieces
and a view of apartment rooms filled with ladders were placed near cityscapes and even paintings celebrating chairs
The latter was part of a full series celebrating the ubiquitous furniture
laughing and picking up catalogs of previous collections highlighting ladders
"Doing that allows me to explore a theme 100 percent
"I love to then see the finished series all together," she added
Ms Lebrija has been painting all of her life
but turned to painting after the birth of her daughters
Ms Lebrija moved the United States 17 years ago
and enjoys developing her skills and networking through artist groups
She began working in watercolor after connecting with a group based in Westport
but a suggestion by the director of that group led her to change mediums
"so even my watercolor paintings were bright
Her artist's statement, which welcomes visitors to her website
reiterates that Ms Lebrija's work celebrates her Mexican culture
"its beauty of vibrant colors and textures." Her work
"is expressed without rules or hesitation."
and has joined a Norwalk-based artist's collective led by Claudia Mengel
when she was featured in an October exhibition in Greenwich
She continues to participate in juried group exhibitions
and has had her work picked up by galleries in Norwalk and Southport
Ms Lebrija began adding texture and additional elements to her paintings
Today she is crafting mixed media works that incorporate leftovers from paper she makes herself
The message in such works is up to interpretation
and what I'm trying to say," said Ms Lebrija
I like them to work at what a painting says to them."
saying so many of the new works going on view are "open to interpretation."
The public is invited to meet Ms Lebrija during an artist's reception scheduled for Sunday
The spa will open that afternoon from 4 to 6 pm
Avance Day Spa, at 32 Church Hill Road, can be visited on Mondays between 10 am and 4 pm; Tuesday and Thursday, 11 am to 8 pm; Wednesday, 10 am to 6 pm; Friday, 9 am to 6 pm; and Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm. For additional information call 203-270-8911 or visit avanceesthetiques.com

The Junta de Andalucía has guaranteed "continuous surveillance" against mosquitoes carrying West Nile fever virus after a five-year-old was infected by the insect in the Seville province town of Lebrija recently
was also recorded in a 17-year-old boy in the Dos Hermanas municipality
Regional minister for health Catalina García assured there is a protocol for action and vigilance
She pointed out the entomological study that is carried out permanently in the most at-risk areas to detect whether there is a high prevalence of mosquitoes carrying the virus
in addition to the regional ministry of agriculture monitoring of animals
"The circulation of this mosquito has been anticipated this year by the rains and high temperatures because it is usually between June and November
with the greatest influence during the month of August
when there is a greater presence and this year
in the month of March we have already had two cases," García said
The minister also assured monitoring has already been carried out near Lebrija and "for now it has been negative"
"The important thing is that we are always monitoring and that the municipalities have all the information immediately," García added
García called on the entire population to use "very important preventive measures
such as not going near places where there is stagnant water
wearing light-coloured clothes that cover the whole body
using skin repellents and mosquito nets in houses"
The two recent cases come after 113 were reported to the national surveillance system by the end of 2023
with the summer months being at highest risk
The bite of the mosquito carrying the virus usually causes fever
although about 80% of infections are asymptomatic
but elderly and immunocompromised people are at increased risk of developing West Nile neuroinvasive disease
Lebrija town hall agreed to raise the risk level from three to five in its integrated surveillance and control plan for vectors transmitting this disease
which means an increase in the controls of preventive treatments the council has been carrying out since last March to control mosquito populations throughout the municipality

Miguel Funi is a cantaor, not a bailaor, although he combines both, as it was traditionally done in the gipsy parties of his childhood in Lebrija, and it was in these family parties where he learned everything, although he also learned from great stage artists that weren’t from Lebrija
I had a long conversation with Miguel Funi
despite the fact that he’s no longer a child
He’s one of the more sincere flamencos I’ve ever met
but he’s an upright man who doesn’t mince words
and that sometimes has got him in trouble with friends
The important is to say it when the artist is alive
and to help him survive in a small world that is sometimes unfair
While Miguel is an artist who still works and has recognition
we haven’t made the most of the fact that he is a gipsy cantaorfrom the old school of Lebrija
who has wisdom and life experiences that few people of his generation have had
he would be a cherished artist being invited to theatres and universities all over the country as a guest speaker to tell of his life experiences
because he still does both with talent and lots of art
as it was traditionally done in the gipsy parties of his childhood in Lebrija
and it was in these family parties where he learned everything
although he also learned from great stage artists that weren’t from Lebrija
despite having had opportunities of settling in Madrid or Seville
walking every day on its narrow cobblestone streets
breathing the marshland air and smelling the perfume of the flowers and olive trees
Miguel is also an artist who suffers because he disagrees with the way cante jondois going these days
He agrees that there are good artists with good voices
but he laments the lack of a good fan base and the lack in artists’ personality
when youngsters looked up to the old masters to learn from them in parties and gatherings
He gets thrilled when talking about Mairena
He talks with respect about other artists he didn’t grow up with
with whom he worked while that cantaor was near retirement
It’s not acceptable that we’re not making the most of a cantaor like el Funi
because there are not many artists like him left
Very few young artists sing and dance at the same time –Luis Peña and Javier Heredia stand out– and the few who do
because few of those who sing and dance today can match Ansonini
and his dancing style has a character that takes you to another era
