The opening ceremony of a new Cruyff Court was held afternoon in Les Roquetes (Sant Pere de Ribes)
the result of the collaboration between the Barça Foundation
the Cruyff Foundation and "la Caixa" Bank Foundation
which aims to promote sport as a means of social inclusion and cohesion
The Cruyff Court at Les Roquetes is the sixth of the fifteen that will be opened in Catalonia as a result of this arrangement
Ronaldinho is the patron of this initiative in this town in the Garraf region and joins other Barça players and former players
who are involved in different Cruyff Courts in other towns in Catalonia
Cruyff Courts are small free-to-use football pitches that encourage the practice of sport among vulnerable children
and are designed to transmit such values as responsibility
The event was presented by journalist Edgar Fornós
first vice-president of FC Barcelona and the Barça Foundation
director of the Department of Commercial and Educational Action for "la Caixa" Bank Foundation
as a patron of the Johan Cruyff Foundation
as the patron of Cruyff Court in Les Roquetes
The press conference then gave way to an opening match that gave the children in attendance the chance to share a few moments of football with the two Barça legends
Ronaldinho and Carles Puyol signed autographs for the schoolchildren
“Being part of this inauguration with Ronaldinho and Carles Puyol is a proud and exciting experience
Today we are presenting the 245th Cruyff Court around the world
We will continue with this collaboration so that all children and young people have the conditions in which to play.”
I had no pitches like the one we're inaugurating today in Les Roquetes
This is a very necessary project because it means that all the boys and girls will have a place to learn values and do sport.”
“Today is my debut as a patron of the Cruyff Foundation and I am very happy and pleased to be part of this project
a great coach and above all as a wonderful person who was concerned about others.”

Safety, Prevention and Coexistence
The Barcelona Fire Service is stepping up its operations to cope with the summer months
Monday sees the Barcelona Fire Service activate its campaign to step up fire prevention work in the parts of the Parc de Collserola which belong to the city
a total of nearly 1,800 hectares in the districts of Les Corts
The campaign will be in place until the middle of September
The pre-campaign began on 15 April and the Vallvidrera fire station was opened on 16 May
offering fast access to woodland areas and cutting response times
firefighters have been carrying out prevention tasks
with activity now to be ramped up as we enter the hottest months
Fire prevention tasks conducted for the campaign will be carried out in three basic areas of coverage in the Collserola mountain range
The operations will conduct two types of permanent actions:
In addition, a drill was conducted in the woodland area at the start of May
and the City Police will be activating an operation in the woodlands in the districts involved
with preventive patrols in the mountain neighbourhoods during the day and also at night
Door-to-door visits are also being carried out and talks organised for people living in woodland areas
the idea being for local residents to help keep these spaces clear of fire and make correct use of the local area
The talks also explain what to do if a forest fire occurs
Something that needs to be taken into account is the increase in the number of visitors to the park in the summer
meaning the risk of fire is higher (even more so this year with the current drought)
public collaboration plays a key part in achieving a summer free of fire
During last year’s forest fire campaign there were 19 fires in the part of Collserola which belongs to the municipality of Barcelona
How to protect ourselves against forest fires
Most fires which start in Collserola are caused by human activity
This means involvement and our actions in woodland areas play a key part in avoiding forest fires:
Check what to do in the case of a forest fire here
or how to look after the area around your home if you live near woodlands
Remember, the most important thing to do in the case of a fire is to call 112 and provide as much information as possible. The mobile app My112, available for Android and iOS alike
also enables emergency teams to locate your call

Barcelona City Council is launching an awareness and communication campaign for the Plan for Raising Awareness in Improving Organic-Waste Collections
which is being pilot-tested in four of the city’s neighbourhoods
to improve organic waste collection both quantitatively and qualitatively
Based on a preliminary study that took into account the neighbourhoods’ features and organic matter collection rates
the neighbourhoods chosen for the pilot test are La Barceloneta
These are four neighbourhoods with very different realities
as well as unequal results as regards organic waste collection
the campaign will last 5 months (until 21 July) and have 8 information officers - 2 for each of the neighbourhoods - and 2 coordinators
It is aimed at each resident as well as neighbourhood organisations and associations
The Plan for Raising Awareness in Improving Organic-Waste Collections in Neighbourhoods takes the neighbourhood green points as its benchmark for environmental education
Two compost points will be set up during the campaign
one in the La Barceloneta and the other in Les Roquetes
to encourage composting by local residents
Information leaflets will also be distributed to clear up any queries about how to separate out organic waste and the benefits that come with doing that correctly
That means one of the factors this Plan takes into account is reducing the quantity of “unsuitables”
The target is to improve the quality of the organic component collected by means of a 20% reduction on the 2015 level of “unsuitables” (from 32% to 25%)
The target is to increase the amount of organic waste collected and improve the quality by means of a 20% reduction on the 2015 level of “unsuitables” (from 25% to 20%)
The target is to increase the amount of organic waste collected and improve the quality by means of a 15% reduction on the 2015 level of “unsuitables” (from 20% to 17%).
