Northwestern girls have been wearing clothes from this market for many years
but in recent years its popularity has multiplied
The Rastro flea market may have a lot of charm, and the Mercado de Productores de Madrid may be the best place to buy fruit and vegetables
but the Majadahonda flea market is an open secret if you like clothes
when Kate Moss and Sienna Miller were in the fashion magazines with their boho chic style
the Madrileñas of the northwest knew that the best place to find clothes that imitated their looks were neither big fashion houses
but this market on the outskirts of Madrid
Majadahonda and the surrounding towns, Boadilla and Pozuelo, occupy year after year the first places among the towns with the highest per capita income in Spain
this fact is what possibly explains that prices are generally higher than in other markets in the region and that their selection is different
Among its more than 180 stalls there are some specialized in pickles
but what attracts more and more people here are its clothing and accessories stalls
Editorial credit: Ernest Rose / Shutterstock.com
Social networks, especially the videos of the flea market on TikTok, have made what was already well known in the area, now multiply its attendance. It is estimated that up to 5000 people can go in one morning. Although, on Tuesdays, as is logical, it is less crowded and is usually much more accessible.
Its great attraction, which makes much of the people stop for two days a week, is the clothes of bohemian airs, in many cases with typical Indian prints. Also the accessories, such as costume jewelry, shoes, basketry and handmade leather goods, very similar to what you might find in the popular markets of the south of France, even in price. Leather bags can cost 90 € and embroidered dresses 130 €.

Do not sell or share my personal information:
Jose Maria Amorrortu says with some emotion: "It's a real joy and satisfaction to talk about Rodri." We have no trouble believing him because it was he who discovered the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner when he was coordinator of Atletico Madrid's youth academy. We spoke exclusively to Amorrortu to learn more about the latest winner of the Ballon d'Or
You were the first to see Rodri's potential
so you must be delighted that he won the Ballon d'Or
I've seen how he's grown up and how far he's come
He's been very well trained and I'm really happy for him that he's been rewarded in this way."
When you first meet him, you worked at Atletico Madrid and Rodri played for Rayo Majadahonda
"Rayo Majadahonda have a partnership agreement with Atletico Madrid and their facilities were 500 metres apart
Although the two clubs do not share the same training ground for the pros
they do share the same pitch for matches (Rayo's men's team and Atletico's women's team play on the same pitch)
"The 'small fry' category (U12 category in Spain
editor's note) was being introduced to us and certain players could therefore have a project with us
who told me that they weren't considering a move at that level
even though they weren't ruling out the possibility of going higher
He stayed at Rayo but we continued to follow him
we spoke to Rodri and his family again and he came to us to develop."
"He was a boy who always had the talent and intelligence to make the right decisions at the right time
the coaching teams also changed at that point
"I can't explain it in detail because I wasn't there any more
left for Villarreal and Rodri followed him
he developed and quickly showed all the qualities we had seen in him at the start
he returned to Atletico after they paid his €25m clause."
In his interviews and at the Ballon d'Or awards ceremony
Rodri comes across as a very thoughtful person
there's everything you can see on the pitch
but there's also everything you can't see
I'm delighted at what's happened to him
Between Villarreal with Marcelino, Atletico with Diego Simeone and Manchester City with Pep Guardiola
Rodri has only been coached professionally by midfielders with different styles
Has that played a part in his rise to prominence
Rodri has always had that intelligence to see the game
So having had coaches like that helped him improve his skills and become the player he is today
faculties linked to his character and an ease of assimilation
he's always been prepared to learn new things
This is a trait that really needs to be emphasised in Rodri."
He's also had some incredible role models
from Bruno Soriano at Villarreal to Koke and Gabi at Atletico
he's added an attacking dimension to his initial range
which sets him apart from the Sergio Busquets he played alongside in the national team
I remember that he scored some decisive goals for Manchester City
even though his position is usually seen as a defensive role
he's the one who makes the play because he's capable of making it happen
as we saw at the World Cup or the last Euros
he can do it because he understands all the facets of the game itself."
Luis Enrique used him as a central defender then due to his defensive skills but also
for his quality in the initial phase of build-up
"His versatility means he can be very functional in many parts of the pitch
his first transition after recovering the ball
Rodri has a very global vision of the pitch
which enables him to make the right decision
Rodri said that this was a victory for midfielders
He is not a small player like Xavi or Andres Iniesta
and he is much more focused on attacking duties than Busquets
"This Ballon d'Or rewards Rodri's full range of skills
He can do everything and he does everything very well
and there aren't many players in the world who can boast such virtue."
some people have pointed out that Real Madrid once considered his arrival in 2019 before he joined Manchester City but Florentino Perez thought he was too slow
which left him so disgusted that he cancelled Real's attendance at the ceremony
(Laughs) "It's everyone's view
You have to differentiate between physical speed and the speed you give to the ball and the game
Rodri can impart speed without running and I think that's incredibly important."
Rayo Majadahonda presented a tough challenge in this one
and a game that was goalless at half time ended with the Catalans edging a very interesting encounter
The sides were extremely well-matched in both attack and defence
and by the interval only Alberto Fernández had come truly close to scoring for Barça
while two fabulous pieces of defending from Mikayil Faye kept the home side from converting the equally few chances that fell their way
The second half was a very different affair
The quality of the football was just as good
but this time rather than cancel each other out
the chances were falling thick and fast at both ends
Diego Percan topped a wonderful team move by latching onto a Rayo rebound to give the blaugrana the lead
with two defenders delivering the goods when Jorge Casado intercepted a Kike Hermoso header to nudge the ball past keeper Marc Vidal
Mamadou Fall finally got to make his debut for the final minutes
and his presence gave Barça that little bit of extra depth that they needed
with Iker Goujón converting a Trilli’ cross and celebrating his first goal for the team with tears in his eyes
The outcome of today's fine effort is a place as joint leaders of Primera Federación Group 1
Rayo Majadahonda goalkeeper Cheikh Sarr has been handed a two-match ban after being sent off in Saturday's game at Sestao River for confronting fans who had racially insulted him
who were leading 2-1 before the game was abandoned
the club has been handed a two-match stadium closure and a €6,001 ($6,496) fine after the disciplinary committee substantiated there was racially discriminatory behaviour directed at Sarr by the home fans and the team failed "to act diligently or cooperate in the repression of violent
Senegalese-born Sarr was shown a red card in the 84th minute of his team's third-division league match. Majadahonda refused to continue the game following Sarr's red card

The Spanish Football Federation's (RFEF) disciplinary committee on Wednesday punished Sarr for a "minor infraction of conduct contrary to good sporting order," noting that the confrontation came "in the context of unacceptable personal aggression."
Sestao denied in a statement that there had been any racist chants directed at any players during the encounter but reiterated their firm commitment in the fight against racism and xenophobia

Barça Atlètic have beaten Rayo Majadahonda in a fine display of set piece brilliance
That's how all three of the goals scored by Faye
with a stellar Moha Moukhliss playing a part every time
That's four wins in five games for the reserves
and next Sunday they'll be looking to keep the good vibes rolling as they host Cultural Leonesa at the Estadi Johan Cruyff (7pm CET)
The opener came from a Moha Moukhliss corner followed by a lovely piece of work from Marc Bernal and Pau Víctor on the edge of the box and with an opportunistic Mikayil Faye finishing off the move
11 minutes later Rayo Majadahonda levelled with a goal that was curiously reminiscent of the one that had just conceded
and much as Barça piled on the pressure for the rest of the half
there would be no more scoring until the other side of the break
The second came four minutes after the restart
Naim firing a free kick from long range and placing the ball exactly where the visiting keeper was never going to get it
Once again it was Moha Moukhliss with the delivery
and substitute Marc Guiu was on it like a whippet
He lost his marker brilliantly and then stunned everyone by back-heeling the ball straight into the visiting net
That was 3-1 and rounded off w near-perfect evening
the only downside being a yellow card for one of the men of the match
which means he'll be suspended next weekend

His strong defensive effort helped set up both Cunha and Lodi’s goals
almost converting on a rebound in the opening minute
Scored a much-needed goal in the 41st minute

Rewarded for his diligence and intensity in the 17th minute
Carrasco’s pressure forced an errant pass that landed at the Brazilian’s feet
Worked his way into good crossing positions
conceding a free kick in dangerous territory from a mistimed tackle
frequently dropping back to receive the ball and then moving it out wide or up top to a striker
Ended the night with two shots and two key passes
one of which was his assist to Griezmann in the 67th minute
megging two opponents with his first touches on the ball
Continued to look dangerous and converted his chance on goal in the 79th minute to make it 5-0
Subbed on for Lemar in the 57th minute and scored 10 minutes later
The Frenchman’s goal came with a deft touch past two defenders
which created an open lane on goal before he hit a rocket past Álvaro Fernández

in the first game in which Koke was a substitute this season

when it was announced that he had suffered a muscle injury
many fans thought it was a more than significant loss for the team

Atlético de Madrid visits San Sebastián to face Real Sociedad
It was the match marked in red on the calendar for the possible return of Pablo Barrios
who will take advantage of the international commitments to get back into competitive rhythm
One of the big surprises yesterday against Real Madrid was the substitution of the Atlético captain, who was looking like a starter. Except for one game, Koke had been a starter in all ofAtlético Madrid's games this season
it was clear that he would need to rest in some of the matches
Simeone brought him on in the second half
looking to give more consistency to the engine room when the red-and-whites were looking for a goal
he aims to return to the starting line-up against Benfica in a match that will not be easy for the colchoneros
It should be remembered that the Portuguese team has one more day of rest after beating Gil Vicente at home last Saturday

Late winner for the visitors was a cruel punishment
Real Madrid Castilla were left with their heads in their hands after suffering a second late defeat in a row
having led against Rayo Majadahonda before eventually surrendering to goals in the 87th and 95th minutes to lose 2-1 at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano
With striking similarities to the 3-2 defeat to San Fernando last weekend
where the team led 2-0 but lost to an 85th minute equaliser and an 87th minute winner
Castilla certainly had plenty of the ball in the final third
but turning that into substantial chances was where they were let down
The final ball always seemed to be just a little wayward
With Álvaro Rodríguez moving to join the first team in the last few weeks
it has opened up a vacancy in the frontline for Castilla
but lacks that edge of elite finishing that makes the difference
a hard worker and has the right physical characteristics
but is too often let down by his final ball
he had more opportunities to create than to score himself
but his pass was often short or heavy and fed right into the path of Lucho in the Rayo Majadahonda goal
Having started the season as first choice and lost his place to Álvaro
the absence of the Uruguayan has made a difference
With Castilla going all out in the hunt for promotion
the difference between Noel and Álvaro could be a decisive margin
the third goal to be conceded in the final 10 minutes of a match in the past week
Conceding so late on is a frustrating blow to a team who deserved more
One of the leaders of this Castilla team was once again central defender Rafa Marín
he looked almost unbeatable at the back for Castilla and was by far the most assured of Real Madrid’s defenders for much of this tie
As Rayo Majadahonda looked to get back into the game
particularly in the later stages of the first half
it primarily came through set pieces and a very direct approach which challenged Castilla
It wasn’t until late in the game that there was a change
and it seemed to be as Marín tired and lost concentration
The physicality of Jeisson and David Rodríguez was something that Castilla handled well
He is one of the few more experienced players in this Castilla side not to be called up to train with Carlo Ancelotti’s first team
His current contract is up in 2024 and the club are said to be reluctant to involve him in the first team unless that deal is extended
Chelsea and RB Leipzig have both been linked with a move for the dominant centre-back
and it was clear to see why after seeing how he organised his backline for Castilla against Rayo Majadahonda
his late loss of focus may show why Real Madrid are not willing to give in at any price
there were 1,800 fans at the Estadio Alfredo di Stéfano
despite the limitations meaning that only club socios can buy tickets
Among them was former Castilla and first team coach Santiago Solari among them
Now back at the club in an ambassadorial role
The step up from Castilla to the first team is one that it looks increasingly likely that Raúl could one day take
The support of Real Madrid’s fans made an impact
Referee Carlos Calderiña Pavón gave two controversial decisions in Castilla’s favour
first ruling out Nando’s goal and then not sending off goalkeeper De Luis when he clattered Jeisson on the edge of the box after knocking the ball past him in a one-on-one
Those decisions may well have gone another way with empty stands
This cruel ending may have put some off returning again
but with the team still well in the promotion fight
there’s reason to believe that Raúl has not inspired only his players

West Ham United striker Toni Martinez has joined Spanish Segunda Division side Rayo Majadahonda on loan for the 2018/19 season
Martinez returns to his home country for a second loan spell in the second tier
having helped Real Valladolid win promotion to the top division last term
who has made three appearances in Claret & Blue since debuting in an FA Cup tie against Shrewsbury Town last season
will now link up with Madrid-based Majadahonda ahead of their first-ever season at this level of Spanish football
They begin their campaign on Saturday with a trip to Real Zaragoza and West Ham United wish Toni all the best for his spell with Rayo Majadahonda

Castilla had not played a game in almost a month due to multiple COVID-19 scares - so the squad would have released a collective sigh of relief when the postponed Rayo Majadahonda fixture was rescheduled for Sunday
Rayo have always been a strong Segunda B outfit
but in pre-season Castilla managed to beat them comfortably with a 2-0 scoreline
as was Castilla’s side chosen by boss Raúl this time out
Goalkeeper Luis López was handed his professional debut
whilst the system revolved around a back five with the wing-backs assisting the front three in attack as much as possible
Five key players were unavailable for selection due to isolation
The home side also admitted a decent crowd
distanced throughout the stands - but making this game seem a real step back into normality
XI del Castilla!En apenas media hora en RMTV. pic.twitter.com/BZuaw5d5zB
Castilla looked every bit as dominant as they did in the summer’s friendly - almost camping in the opposition's half
Guillem and Miguel Gutiérrez really helped to squeeze Majadahonda and push them back
Pablo Ramón was forced to depart early due to injury
but Castilla kept up the pressure - and created numerous scoring opportunities
before Gutiérrez had an effort brilliantly denied from a rebounded shot
The team also had two penalty shouts denied
The second however came from a blatant pull on the jersey
and if seen in any capacity would have definitely been called as a spot kick
All of this pressure was bound to decide the outcome one way or another
and unfortunately for Castilla things turned sour right at the end of the game
which was defended and a further shot blocked - only for the ball to fall to a Majadahonda attacker on the bounce
The player volleyed it past López excellently to hand Rayo the win
Golaaaaaazo! pic.twitter.com/RWBrBmCbh1
who have now lost two out of their three games so far
This new league format means that there is not much room for error if they want to secure their place in the third tier for next season
so this start should act as a hefty concern for Raúl
so perhaps a more ruthless approach is all that is required to start bringing in results
Pablo Ramón’s injury appears to be more serious than initially thought
so hopefully he is able to recover swiftly
Next weekend’s home fixture against Navalcarnero has become hugely important for Castilla to get back on track
A brutal murderer known as the Butcher of Majadahonda will serve more than 27 years in jail for killing his aunt and her tenant before using an industrial meat grinder to dispose of the bodies
Bruno Hernández Vega was handed his sentence by the Madrid High Court after a jury had found the 34-year old guilty of the double murders
Hernández denied committing the crimes
adding that he suffered from paranoid schizophrenia
But Judge Pilar Alhambra Pérez sentenced Hernández to a total of 27 years three months and one day behind bars
He will serve 12 years in jail for each murder
with the rest of the time accounted for by fraud and weapons violations
The jury was convinced that Hernández had killed and dismembered the bodies of his aunt Liria Hernández Hernández in 2010 and her Argentinian tenant Adriana Beatriz Gioiosa
five years later in the small town of Majadahonda
The remains of both women have never been found
and parts of the case are still cloaked in mystery as Hernández denies any involvement in the disappearance of the women
Prosecutors said after killing his aunt Hernández withdrew more than €33,000 from her account and forged her signature on a document giving him control of her home in Majadahonda
The court heard he hid the meat grinder in the basement of his aunt's house
where investigators found DNA evidence of both women on the machine
When police searched the basement one officer said the room carried the "characteristic smell of meat and fresh blood"
Investigators said the area had been freshly coated with white paint
but when they scrapped parts of the walls they found splashes of blood
Another agent said after examining the basement with ultraviolet light
were "signs of having dragged something in blood."
Police also found an unlicensed Hecker & Koch pistol and silencer in his bedroom at the address
The court heard Hernández killed Adriana Beatriz Gioiosa on April 2015 and tried to cover his tracks by forging a letter to the hamburger restaurant she worked at
His motive for killing the tenant remains unknown
Hernández told the tenant's friends and family that she had moved to Barcelona
He later travelled with the woman's mobile phone to the Catalan capital to send messages
in a bid to make people think she was still alive
But police arrested Hernández in April 2015
after the brother of Adriana Beatriz Gioiosa flew from Buenos Aires to Spain to find her
The judge accepted Hernández was a paranoid schizophrenic
but added that the elaborate planning of the crimes "in no way accredits that his mental faculties were annulled or seriously altered"
Earlier in the trial psychiatrist Dr Alfredo Calcedo summed up his view of Hernández: "He may be crazy
Police last month began a new search for the two women in a landfill in the nearby town of Pinto
But officers said because the meat grinder was able to crush bones into small particles and the large area covered by the garbage dump "it is very difficult to find human remains"
Back-to-back defeats in similar circumstances
Real Madrid Castilla had to bounce back this weekend
having thrown away a two-goal lead against San Fernando to lose 3-2 and drop out of the top two in Primera RFEF Group 1 last time out
Mid-table Rayo Majadahonda were the side to stand in their way
and there was a depressing sense of déjà vu as they fell to another late defeat
with Rafa Marín chesting the ball into his own goal in injury time to condemn the team to defeat
after a match in which Castilla will feel that they should have taken all three points
If coach Raúl was looking for a reaction from his players
he certainly got one at the very start of the game
There were only 4 minutes and 24 seconds on the clock when Noel López fired the ball past Rayo Majadahonda goalkeeper Lucho
He moved to the near post and slid to get on the end of Peter González’s cross into the box from the left flank
5’ GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAL NOEL LÓPEZ!!!!!! His first official goal for Castilla.Assist from Peter Federico. CASTILLA 1-0 RAYO MAJADAHONDA!!! pic.twitter.com/7Y8DJUaHUB
The ball had barely entered Castilla’s half by the time Noel had opened the scoring
Sergio Arribas looked lethal cutting in from the right flank
while Peter contributed similarly down the left
With Noel as the focal point down the middle
Rayo Majadahonda struggled to cope initially and dropped an extra man into midfield to shrink some of the half spaces that Arribas and Peter were moving into
with one chance from Arribas at the far post being tipped over the bar
Substitute Nico Paz also tested Majadahonda with a powerful volley shortly after coming on
Rayo Majadahonda felt hard done by when referee Carlos Calderiña Pavón ruled out a goal for the visitors after Mario de Luis lost control of the ball and Nando arrived first to tap it into an empty net
De Luis was lucky again when he took down Jeisson in a one-on-one on the edge of the box later in the second half
Great save from Mario de Luis! pic.twitter.com/rpLeO6tKQs
Coming off the back of the humiliation suffered against San Fernando last weekend
maintaining that defensive strength through to the very end was a challenge for this young team
Raúl was more interested in organising the back line and ensuring that his players did not get carried away pushing forwards
The coach had clearly learned from the mistakes made a week ago
and dropped the team into a back five for the final 10 minutes of the game
That meant that we saw less of Rafa Obrador and Vinícius Tobías’ runs down the flanks in the final stage
instead sitting deep alongside the back three of Edgar
David Rodríguez was the man to equalise for Rayo Majadahonda right at the death
as a loose ball in the box fell his way and he sent the ball curling in at the far post
looking to make the most of six minutes of added time
Spaces began to open up on the counter and Rayo Majadahonda looked just as likely to score as Castilla
with a flurry of yellow cards for Castilla players as counter after counter was hacked down in desperation
One of those led to a free-kick from a deep central position which was floated in
only for Rafa Marín to be the unfortunate man to chest the ball into his own goal under pressure in the scrap of players in the box on 95 minutes
The defeat means that Castilla remain in third place in Primera RFEF Grupo 1
but have now suffered consecutive defeats for the first time this season
Real Madrid’s policy on young talent is now full flow
and is no longer a secret to be noticed by the few
with youngsters Achraf Hakimi and Luca Zidane earning a first team spot in the past week alone
Aleix Febas and Fede Valverde have been sent out for their next developmental step towards the first team as well
Castilla have to build an almost brand new side
This summer they have brought in quite a few new players
both from other clubs and from the academy
Castilla don’t seem to be out for any new players
so I’m very intrigued to see how certain players will be used
The summer fixtures sent out very mixed messages
but still gave fans a reason to be positive
Castilla were to host Rayo Majadahonda for the first challenge of 2017/18
Sánchez and Tejero were the four surviving players from 16/17
whilst new signing Cristo González was this summer’s best player
Dani Gómez and Óscar Rodríguez spent pre-season with the first team
Castilla XI: Zidane, Tejero, Javi Sánchez, León, Quezada, Fidalgo, Molina, Rodríguez, Mancebo, González & Gómez #RealMadridCastilla pic.twitter.com/odIk8sSusU
any optimism I allowed myself in the summer managed to disappear very quickly
Javier Sánchez’s mistake allowed Majadahonda to rifle a shot into the top corner for the opener
and the most memorable moments came from the feet of Arturo Molina
and the whites went into the dressing room 1-0 down
The players returned with a spring in their step
and it wasn’t long before they had the ball in the back of the net
I wouldn’t describe the events that followed as exciting
but Madrid certainly pressured Rayo in search of a winner
It looked as if the game was swinging Castilla’s way
when Rayo won a free-kick in crossing territory
and after a bit of a scramble it somehow found its way into Luca Zidane’s net via a bizarre deflection
Jaume and Segura were all brought on to try and salvage something
but Castilla were unable to muster anything up
Dani Gomez scores Castilla's first goal of the season. Nice work from Arturo in the build-up. He's been swapping flanks and creating danger pic.twitter.com/svv73RmJ7O
Man of the match went to Arturo Molina on his very first appearance for the club
it looks like business as usual for Solari’s men
They looked pretty lifeless for the majority of the game
and this is the first fixture of the season
so for now I am going to reserve my judgement
but Castilla will want to make sure they don’t drop too many points if they want to try and achieve anything this season
in a showdown that will reveal a lot more about the current group of youngsters

Charlie I’Anson’s contract in Spain’s third tier has been terminated but the lockdown has left him unable to travel
Read moreThe plan is for accelerated play-offs to take place in a neutral venue under training-camp conditions in the summer
The top four from each of the 20-team groups of Spain’s Segunda División B will be involved
competing for four places in the second tier – if
all he can do is wait for next season – whenever that is
People feel better that there’s a decision
The decision’s been made now and we have to put up with it
“I’m not just saying this because we’re so close to that fourth position and it’s unfair on us – we weren’t good enough – but because there are loads of teams that thought they still had a chance
there are teams in the relegation zone who are all going to stay up
View image in fullscreenCharlie I’Anson speaks to media before an encounter against Celta Vigo B
Photograph: Miguel Ángel Acero/Rayo Majadahonda“My mentality was always if the season can carry on
It’s a very hard decision and I wouldn’t want it
But they have taken from one end and not the other
Teams in the relegation zone will not go down to the 364-team
but 20 teams will come up – 18 from the accelerated play-offs
That forces the creation of a new group in Segunda B next season and the season after that it will be reformed again
two-group division between the Second Division and the rest of the Second Division B for 2021-22
“The Federation didn’t let the players’ union
It’s pretty much only really the teams in relegation [places] that have accepted it
But I don’t think the problem is whether we were in the play-offs; it’s the lack of information
That’s been playing on every player’s mind
we’ve been working but not been able to kick a ball
They treat this level as if it is not professional
He continues: “Salaries might be €1,000 [£870] a month
Loads of clubs have had ERTEs [enforced salary reductions of up to 70% for the duration of the state of emergency
underwritten by the government] or negotiated pay cuts
“We took 7.5% on our annual wage and compared to some clubs Majadahonda have been bloody marvellous: terminating my contract was the best solution too
Clubs that went through ERTEs left players on €700 or €1,200 if they’re married
my missus lost her job [because of the coronavirus crisis]; imagine players with kids
Read more“They have treated this division poorly; they seem to forget that the players in the first and second division – Jaime Mata and Borja Iglesias, say – come from here.”
While three quarters of the league stops, the top 16 have to keep training for six, seven, maybe eight weeks. And still there is a good chance the ministry of health may not authorise the play-offs. “And I don’t even know if they’re getting paid,” I’Anson says. “In fact, some aren’t: I know that. Those who are top, who would get promoted automatically if games can’t be played are probably thinking they’d prefer to just go home now.”
a 17-year-old La Masia graduate pulled off a stunning backheel flick to score the third goal in Barcelona Atletic’s 3-1 win over Rayo Majadahonda at home on Sunday
Mikayil Faye broke the deadlock for the hosts with a close-range finish early in the first half
bringing Rayo Majadahonda back into the contest
Barcelona Atletic once again took the lead just after the half-time break on the back of a goal by Naim Garcia
It no doubt boosted the confidence of the home side
who mostly dominated the rest of the match
Marc Guiu put the final nail in Rayo Majadahonda’s coffin late in the 86th minute by converting a corner kick
The aerial delivery landed in front of the near post
Guiu had perhaps made up his mind to try a first-time shot
The young striker attempted a no-look backheel flick off his right foot and caught the Rayo Majadahonda defence off guard
A clip of the spectacular finish was dropped on social media and went viral in no time

— BarçaTimes (@BarcaTimes) February 18, 2024
March Guiu has already played four matches for the Barcelona first team
He made his debut as a substitute during a La Liga clash against Athletic Bilbao
It was certainly a special occasion for Guiu
who scored only 30 minutes after arriving on the pitch in the second half to become the youngest player of the club to strike in his first appearance
Barcelona secured a narrow 1-0 victory in the crucial league fixture
“I don’t have a problem with looking at our talent at home
just like it happened to me when I was 17 or 18 years old
we just send him out onto the field."
Marc Guiu was given a chance to showcase his talent and skills in an away Champions League game against Royal Antwerp
Barcelona suffered a 3-2 defeat in the group-league clash but Guiu found his place in the scoresheet with a late strike
Back-to-back victories for Castilla sees them go up to third place
Castilla had finally gained a win in the last game against Fuenlabrada
miraculously putting them back into the playoff spots
they travelled the short distance of 20 minutes from Valdebebas
Fede Valverde was back from injury along with Philipp Lienhart on the bench
Whilst Campuzano was interestingly left out of the squad
with Solari opting to rest him to avoid injury
finally Sergio Díaz was finally going to get his chance back up top
Solari started with a pretty standard 4-3-3
Castilla XI: Zidane, Achraf, Sánchez, Hermoso, Quezada, Seoane, Febas, Muñoz, Enzo(C), Vergos & Díaz #RealMadridCastilla pic.twitter.com/w2S5NZco81
Majadahonda did not look like punishing the defence much who were having a fine game
The problem was that nothing was really happening
Javi Muñoz was unable to run the game from midfield
and no one else looked like scoring a goal for Castilla
Achraf was the only bright spark in the first half
who missed an open goal from yards out due to a bobble
If he had any confidence in his striker-esque abilities
The half dragged but luckily came to an end
and the score at the break was to nobody's shock
At half time it was Majadahonda making the changes
and the substitute hit the post with his first touches
Fede Valverde was brought on for his first game back
and immediately took control of the midfield
The game was still by no means fun to watch
Solari brought in Cristian Cedrés for Enzo
a throw-in found it's was to Fede Valverde
who took a couple of touches before striking the ball goal-bound from distance
It whistled into the back of the net to put Castilla 1-0 up
A moment of brilliance to win an otherwise dull affair
The last 10 minutes were the best phase of the game
Luckily the Castilla defence held out for the win
pushing them up to third place in the league
Con este golazo de @fedeevalverde el Real Madrid Castilla venció 1 a 0 al Rayo Majadahonda pic.twitter.com/tVVoSd4BRw
Man of the match went to Fede Valverde, for his short but sweet cameo, changing the game and in result handing Castilla the 3 points! It's great to see him back and Castilla have definitely missed him. Achraf also deserves a mention for a great game and Luca Zidane was strong in goal. Big game next week as Castilla host Toledo, who are desperate for a play off spot. Be sure to check it out here, and on my Twitter @CastillaStats for live coverage

Toni Martinez will spend the remainder of the 2018/19 campaign on loan with Spanish La Liga 2 side Lugo
The 21-year-old striker makes the move after being recalled from his loan at fellow second tier team Rayo Majadahonda
where he spent the first half of this campaign
Martinez played 18 times for Majadahonda
scoring twice in their first ever campaign at La Liga 2 level
adding to the experience gained from his loan at Real Valladolid last term
Lugo are currently 14th in the La Liga 2 table and take on Malaga this Saturday
West Ham United wishes Toni all the best for his time with Lugo
In a recent Primera Federacion clash between Sestao River and Rayo Majadahonda
tensions flared as Rayo Majadahonda footballer Cheikh Sarr confronted racist abuse hurled at him by opposing fans
The fallout from the incident has resulted in disciplinary measures for both clubs
and Rayo Majadahonda enduring a points deduction
the footballer was subjected to vile racial slurs from fans behind the goal
including phrases like “you’re a fucking monkey” and “you fucking black shit.”
The situation escalated when the insults persisted after a goal
prompting Sarr to react and confront the perpetrators
This reaction earned him a straight red card from the referee
resulting in a forfeit and subsequent points deduction for Rayo Majadahonda
the league has sanctioned Sestao River with a fine of 6,001 euros and mandated that their next two matches be played behind closed doors at their facilities
Cheikh Sarr has been handed a two-game suspension for conduct contrary to good sporting order
Rayo Majadahonda has been penalized with a fine of 3,006 euros and a deduction of three points in their classification
The league’s resolution highlighted the importance of players following proper protocols in such situations
It stated that Sarr should have alerted the referee immediately
who could have then activated the Action Protocol on Public Incidents
The statement emphasised that while players have the right to defend their dignity
they must do so within the confines of sports regulations and legal channels
Part of the statement read thus: “It is evident that the footballer cannot take any unlawful initiative nor
that of taking ‘justice into his own hands’ by grabbing a spectator by the scarf
of aggravating the possibilities of incidents lead to others of much greater significance
even putting their own physical integrity at risk.”
The statement continued: “It is literally stated by the Rayo Majadahonda club that the victims of such acts have the right to defend their dignity
but they forget to clarify that such defense of their dignity must be carried out without violating the applicable sports regulations
therefore following the appropriate legal channels and of course
