Do you have a REAL ID
you may face delays or even be barred from flying within and from U.S

REAL ID is an extra level of security that the Transportation Security Administration is implementing to protect flyers

and people around the country and the territories of the U.S
have had 20 years to get their REAL ID," said TSA Spokesperson Patricia Mancha
everyone coming to the checkpoint will be required to present a REAL ID."
Here is what you need to know about the TSA REAL ID requirement
How to check if my driver's license is a REAL ID?Luckily for most Texans with a Texas driver's license
"The one thing about Texas - it's a single-issue state — they only provide REAL IDs to drivers," Mancha said
That means around 98% of Texans hold a REAL ID
look for a gold star in the top right-hand corner of your ID
the 2% that don't — because either the license has expired or doesn't have an expiration date — then contact the Texas Department of Public Safety as they issue IDs in Texas
For those who don't hold a Texas ID, look at your ID for a star at the top of the card, according to TSA. Individuals can also contact the issuing state's DMV or the respective ID issuing agency to double-check
Those under 18 do not need a REAL ID to fly
but there are some things you have to factor in
TSA recommends that individuals arrive at the airport two hours before a domestic flight boards and three hours before an international flight
then we would recommend that you add an additional two hours," Mancha said
Mancha said this gives TSA enough time to verify your identity before you are let through security
but warns that relying on this process is not the most time-friendly
nor does it guarantee TSA will be able to verify your identity
"If we have 100 travelers who don't have a Real ID and you're number 99 on that list
we can't guarantee that we will be able to verify your identity within the time allotted for you to get to your gate and board your flight," Mancha said
Other acceptable IDs at the TSA checkpoint are as follows:
If you have not already been issued a REAL ID by Texas DPS
For all other individuals with licences from out of state
TSA advises them to contact their respective DMVs or ID issuing agencies

travelers flying domestically will soon need more than just any driver's license to get through airport security
all adults flying within the United States must present a REAL ID-compliant license or another approved form of identification at TSA checkpoints
the Transportation Security Administration warns
“If your license doesn’t meet federal REAL ID standards
you won’t be allowed to board your flight unless you have an alternative form of ID
like a valid passport,” said Patricia Mancha
“Now is the time to check your wallet — before summer travel begins.”

Starting May 7 all domestic travelers in the U.S
will need to have a Real ID to enter security checkpoints at airports
spokesperson for the Transportation Security Administration
said travelers must have the latest form of ID so security can verify their identity
“Eight out of 10 travelers have a Real ID,” Mancha said at a news conference at Dallas Love Field Wednesday
Mancha said Real IDs were created to enhance security as recommended by the 9/11 Commission
They help TSA officers verify the identity of a traveler
Texas residents who were issued an ID after 2016 most likely have one
The Real ID design varies from state to state
but many have a gold star or the word “enhanced.”
Deadlines to obtain one have varied from state to state but after May 7
— using their drivers license or another state-issued ID must make sure it's Real ID compliant
Travelers can still use a passport or other compliant identification documents — including a Tribal ID or a U.S. Department of Defense ID — instead of a Real ID. There’s a comprehensive list of compliant documents on the tsa.gov website
TSA will work with you to try to validate and verify your identity,” Mancha said
so we recommend that you get here at least four hours before your flight
“I want to point out that there are no guarantees we will work with you
because we deal with travelers every day who lose their documents,” she added
Mancha recommends travelers without a Real ID contact the Department of Public Safety as soon as possible to begin the process
“Most states like Texas require that you make an appointment and in many places with large metropolitan areas
they actually have waits of weeks and even months,” Mancha said
“So it's really important for people who have a flight May 7 and beyond to check their documents and make sure that they're compliant.”
residents who entered the country lawfully and are permanent residents may show the documents they used to enter the country in order to travel domestically
you presented a passport [or] any other form of travel documents
you may use those travel documents at the airport security checkpoint if you're not a citizen,” she said

PHOENIX — Planning a trip in the near future or beyond
Travelers hoping to book domestic flights have until May 7 to ensure their documents meet Real ID Arizona requirements
After the deadline, only the Arizona Travel ID, a U.S. passport or other federally approved identifications will be accepted at security checkpoints, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT)
officials gathered at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on Thursday to urge Arizonans to take action as swiftly as possible
It can take one to two weeks for an Arizona Travel ID to arrive by mail
While the deadline was initially pushed back due to the COVID pandemic and other mitigating factors
TSA spokesperson Patricia Mancha said it will not be delayed again
“Hundreds of millions of people have to get a Real ID,” Mancha said during a Thursday press conference
“When there’s so many people who have to do this
The Real ID policy came as a recommendation after 911 terror attacks in 2001
Authorities passed the law in 2005 to make flying safer
“It was a plan to have more standardization in drivers’ licenses and ID generally,” Gallego said
“And making sure there are some basic common-sense checks on everyone’s ID.”
Some can order their Real ID on the MVD website and upload the necessary documents
will have to update their Arizona ID in person
Bill Lamoreaux with ADOT said it’s easy: Just walk in to any MVD office and you can get your Real ID in about 15 minutes
Travelers who want to ensure their IDs are federally compliant can also go to MVD’s website to make an appointment at their nearest MVD office or a third-party vendor
May 7th is the deadline to get your REAL ID. pic.twitter.com/OJMwBRftmt
— Heidi Hommel (@heidi_hommel) April 10, 2025
Real ID Arizona requirements include a passport or birth certificate
along with two pieces of mail with your name and current address
Lamoreaux said applicants will also need to provide their Social Security number
but they don’t need to bring their Social Security cards
These forms of identification are accepted in absence of documents that meet the Real ID Arizona requirements:
those who fail to get a federally compliant Arizona Travel ID will be subjected to additional questioning to verify their identity
“There will be additional scrutiny of yourself
you may not be allowed to enter the checkpoint and fly,” Mancha said
She warned travelers to prepare for long lines at TSA security checkpoints after May 7
If hundreds of people lack proper identification after the deadline

So this is a mash-up between Don Quixote and Twisters
This looks like a really bad direct-to-VHS movie

After coming in as a late season reinforcement for Atletico Ottawa, Spanish defender Jesus Del Amo returns to the Spanish fourth division he had come from
The 25-year-old defender made seven appearances for Ottleti after signing in late August, establishing himself as a starter at the tail end of Carlos Gonzales’s final campaign and playing every possible minute in their two playoff games
Having only arrived on a contract through to the end of the year, the arrival of January saw him enter a brief period of free agency before CD Tudelano snapped him up. He isn’t the only Atletico Ottawa ex-pat to land in Spain’s lower divisions, with golden boot contender Ruben Del Campo also winding his way to UCAM Murcia CF
who once featured in Barcelona’s fabled La Masia academy and the Villareal U-19 team
has suited up in the Spanish lower leagues for the likes of Real Aviles
having also had a short stint in Greece with Asteras Vlachioti
Before his move to the Canadian capital last year
Real Aviles had tested him on the left flank
The Ottleti backline will look quite different this year, with players like Matteo de Brienne, Kris Twardek, and Luke Singh all having moved on.

Texas (KCBD) - The REAL ID Act was passed 20 years ago in response to the September 11th terrorist attacks
The Act requires states to make sure standards are upheld for state-issued drivers’ licenses and identification cards if they’re to be accepted as ID by the federal government
The key is the gold star in the top right-hand corner of drivers’ licenses
you do not have a REAL ID and you’ll need to get one by May 7th
you won’t be able to enter secure federal buildings or board an airplane for a domestic flight
TSA spokesperson Patricia Mancha says it’s important to get them now as we approach summer travel
if you don’t have a REAL ID or one of those documents that stand in as such
Mancha also explains what you need to do should you not have a REAL ID at this time
“Contact your state Department of Motor Vehicles,” Mancha said
“That’s where those IDs get issued and usually
they will have to prove their citizenship or lawful permanent residency in this country or any lawful immigrant status
They will have to provide other identifiers
but if you check with your state Department of Motor Vehicles
then they can give you the comprehensive list of what each state requires.”
The good news for most Texans is Texas DPS has been issuing REAL IDs since October 2016 and as of this month
98% of Texas drivers’ licenses are REAL ID compliant
That still means hundreds of thousands of Texans don’t have the proper identification at this time
Texas DPS sent KCBD a statement regarding REAL IDs
“It is important to note that driving with an expired license is against the law and given that Texas drivers’ licenses are valid for up to eight years
anyone without a REAL ID compliant drivers’ license card would have an expired driver’s license
Customers who still do not have Real ID compliant cards can schedule an appointment at their local driver license office
Texas only issues REAL ID compliant cards and there is no additional fee for a REAL ID compliant card.”
If you don’t have the REAL ID just yet, you can find your local driver’s license office here
Airport travelers will need one more item beginning May 7 to traverse the security checkpoint and onto their flights at airports nationwide: Real ID
The Transportation Safety Administration is urging people to make sure they're prepared
every traveler who goes to an airport security checkpoint will be required to present a Real ID document or a compliant equivalent," said Patty Mancha
A compliant or equivalent document would be a passport; a passport card; Transportation Worker Identification Credential
also known as a TWIC card; a green card or a lawful permanent resident card; or an ID card from a federally recognized Indian tribe
communications director at Northwest Arkansas National Airport
it would be wise for travelers to show up at least two hours early for flights and up to four hours early if they don't have a Real ID to avoid problems
especially as this May 7 deadline is approaching
is to give yourself plenty of time to park
get up to the checkpoint and get to your gate," Tyler said
have enough time to get through the airport."
Early mornings are typically the busiest times at the airport
Mancha said showing up early is important because it is inevitable that some travelers won't have the proper identification when they arrive
"Every day we have travelers who come to the airport who have lost their wallet
have their purse stolen or simply just misplace their ID," Mancha said
"We work with those travelers to try to validate and verify their identity
we have one central location with whom we work to verify a traveler's identification
we have over 100 people who don't have their ID
we cannot guarantee that we will be able to verify your identity in time for you to make your flight."
Travelers without a Real ID will be asked to step out of line to allow travelers behind them to continue on their journey
"So if you don't have a Real ID or a compliant document or the equivalent
and you need to understand that there are no guarantees that you will be allowed to travel," Mancha said
"Key to everything is that every traveler know what they have and take actions to rectify the situation."
Mancha said photocopies of documents will not be accepted by the agency
digital version of a state-issued driver's license or ID card that can be accessed on a smartphone
It must be the actual document that must be presented at the checkpoint," Mancha said
if your state has mobile ID like Arkansas does
people are able to present their mobile ID."
Mancha said families traveling for vacation need to be aware of the rules for those traveling with them
"We also remind travelers that the summer travel season is upon us
with elderly parents and grandparents who travel maybe once a year
it's important for people to remember that they will be required to present a Real ID," Mancha said
"Travelers under 18 years of age are not required to present a Real ID
but the adults with whom they travel or the person who brings them to the airport will be required to present ID."
The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration is urging residents to come in and get the new identification cards
and it's trying to make it as easy as possible
"The message we want to share is it's not as complicated as you may think," said Scott Hardin
"You can do it at any Revenue Office around the state; we've got 134 of them."
Hardin said in most states you can go to the local Department of Motor Vehicles
and they will mail you your Real ID in two or three weeks
but the process is much faster in Arkansas
we're one of less than five states where you actually walk out following your visit with your Real ID," Hardin said
even if you wait until the day of your flight
we can still get your Real ID issued and get you on that flight."
Hardin said people can go to any Revenue Office or make an appointment at mydmv.arkansas.gov if they don't want to wait once they get there
Some offices are opening on Saturdays to meet the demand
and that takes us up to just over 800,000 active Real IDs in the state," Hardin said
we've still got close to two million regular licenses and state IDs."
Hardin said Bentonville's Revenue Office is the busiest in the state and issues the most Real IDs
"I see why that's the case with the traffic in and out of the state and the business that area does," Hardin said
Local Social Security offices and federal courthouses in the Western District of Arkansas will not be requiring a Real ID as of May 7
"The short version of this is right now there's not going to be a requirement for the general public to present a Real ID upon the deadline for federal court facilities in the Western District of Arkansas," said Chris Blevins of the U.S
There are five federal courthouses in the Western District: Fort Smith
"This is really considered public access," Blevins said
made up of judges and representatives of agencies housed in federal buildings
could vote to require Real IDs for entry to federal courthouses
but Blevins said he doesn't expect that to happen
Blevins said he does not anticipate Real IDs will be required unless there are extenuating circumstances
such as a heightened security situation or high-profile trial going on at a courthouse
but it's a rare circumstance," Blevins said
Blevins said Real IDs will be required at airports and military installations that may have national security information or when comparing names on a federal watch list
"The general public is not allowed in certain areas
it's really not applicable here because the general public is just coming in to do business with an agency within the building
so other than having to go through screening with a magnetometer
those are allowed under the code of federal regulations to screen people for those courthouses
Blevins said the Real ID requirement also does not apply to individuals selected for a grand jury or jury duty involving a trial
A call to the Social Security Office in Fayetteville confirmed a Real ID will not be needed to go to that office
the Real ID Act sets forth security standards for state-issued driver's licenses and identification cards
The act prohibits some federal agencies from accepting licenses and identification cards from states that do not meet such security standards
These purposes include accessing certain federal facilities
boarding federally regulated commercial aircraft and entering nuclear power plants
the federal government requires Arkansans confirm proof of residency
legal presence and identity and Social Security number through the following documentation:
Two proof of address documents such as utility bills or bank statements dated within the last six months
Proof of identity: Current driver's license
The Department of Finance and Administration encourages Arkansas residents to visit ar.gov/REALID before making the trip to the Revenue Office
The website confirms the documents meet all requirements or specifies which document is missing
The cost to obtain a Real ID does not differ from obtaining or renewing a regular license or ID
It is $10 to transfer an existing expiration date on a license or ID to a Real ID
While a regular license can be transferred state to state
if someone moving to Arkansas wishes to obtain a Real ID
he must provide the same required documents as someone obtaining a Real ID for the first time
Department of Homeland Security Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration
dfa.arkansas.gov/mydmv-service/real-id/
The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration provides an option to schedule appointments through this portal: dfa.arkansas.gov/mydmv-service/schedule-an-appointment/
The service is available at about half of the revenue offices in Arkansas
If a person's preferred revenue office does not yet allow this service
that person will have to wait in line.————————————————

a company specializing in irrigation systems
has been awarded the project to modernize the irrigation systems of the La Laguna Irrigation Community
The entire irrigation area is located in the municipalities of Baeza and Mancha Real (Jaén)
on the left bank of the Guadalquivir River and north of the A-316 road
which is the entire area between Arroyo Vil and Torres River
The project includes three reservoirs for the storage of 1.8 Hm3 of water
for which Sotrafa’s ALVATECH 5002 geomembrane has been chosen as the waterproofing solution
The irrigable area is 1,209.50 ha of olive groves with localized drip irrigation
corresponding to around 274 community members
With this project to update the irrigation community
de La Laguna with new water storage for the irrigation of its olive groves that avoids
the main and essential use of the wetland of the natural park
It would also allow an independence in the distribution and storage of water between both environments
to allow the volumes of water available in the seasons where
is where more rainfall is concentrated and therefore is when there is more water available in the river
The aim is also to adapt and modernize the water transport pipelines to the different storage points by means of new pipe layouts to the planned reservoirs and the pressurized piping of the main canal or irrigation channel
For the storage of approximately 1.8 Hm3 of water
three reservoirs are proposed to guarantee
the environmental viability of the existing Laguna Grande
to allow a desirable autonomy in the irrigation of the olive trees of the irrigation community
The solution chosen for this waterproofing is ALVATECH 5002 geomembrane
a total of 185,000 m2 of geomembrane was installed on a 250 geotextile
One of the main reasons for choosing the ALVATECH 5002 geomembrane is the 7.5 m width of the rolls
which translates into shorter installation time and reduced costs
Another major advantage of this width is fewer welds and therefore less risk of leaks and less time for testing
together with the excellent mechanical properties of SOTRAFA’s ALVATECH 5002 geomembrane and RICAMPO’s extensive experience in this type of project
has resulted in a successful project to modernize the irrigation facilities for the La Laguna Irrigation Community

The Tony Award-winning musical had its first revival in over 50 years and the reviews are in
Alex Wood
who will make the case that Man of La Mancha is the great lost musical of the 1960s
It did after all win the Tony Award for best musical in 1965
as part of Michael Grade and Michael Linnit's determination to produce rarely staged classics at the Coliseum
that claim is as delusional as its hero Don Quixote."
amiable presence but what he does not have is a singing voice strong enough to ripple through the great number of the night
but he just doesn't have the breath to fill a huge space like the Coliseum."
Man of La Mancha hasn't been performed professionally in the UK since 1968
"This is a strange and statically staged production of an under-whelming show
The first problem is the peculiar framing device that writer Dale Wasserman wraps around the action
Cervantes (Grammer) is imprisoned by the Spanish Inquisition; while he waits
his fellow captives put him to a mock trial
for which he acts out scenes from his unfinished novel Don Quixote
and to further cloud the picture director Lonny Price tries to put a nebulous contemporary spin on the dissent."
"Grammer tops a peculiar grab-bag of leading performers
Opera singer Danielle de Niese brings some much-needed spirit to the role of Quixote's adored Dulcinea
while Nicholas Lyndhurst plays the squiffy Innkeeper with intermittent charm
The rest of the large cast are bewilderingly under-employed and spend much time sitting idly around while the action takes place on a much smaller central platform
"What director Lonny Price is trying to do at any moment is clear
Most of the comedy fizzles out somewhere between the stage and the stalls
Timing is off; there are long moments when nothing happens; some actors are badly lit; there's a pointlessly long and gratuitous scene where de Niese's Dulcinea is attacked and knocked unconscious by a group of men."
Grammer is a naturally charismatic presence as barmy idealist Quixote
and his singing voice has improved since his first musical outing in London
though his breath control is still way off
from bona fide opera singer De Niese as Quixote's love interest Dulcinea (alternating with Cassidy Janson)
Her voice easily fills a huge space like this
and she's also an incredibly expressive actor."
"James Noone's old-school set design doesn't make a convincing arena for contemporary parallels: it's all naffly crumbling plaster with a flight of metal steps that set the whole confection a-wobble every time they're lowered."
bringing an energy that's otherwise lacking from this dour production – even if it's grim to see it play out in a danced rape scene that probably wasn't okay in the '60s and certainly isn't now."
"It's a shame that Noone's design is quite so grim and quite so time-consuming to get in and out of on its levered staircase
Making the prison a contemporary one only confuses a conceit that already stands between us and the good stuff."
leaving the scenes of sexual menace lingering more in the mind than the moments of hope
Grammer is forever in credit for his years as Dr Frasier Crane in Cheers and Frasier but he rarely looks entirely convinced by himself here
while Lyndhurst is better at the comic moments as an inn keeper than looking menacing in a black leather trenchcoat as 'the Governor'
confused and sorely lacking a twinkle in its eye."

★★★★☆ Director Mark Lamos invests a musical theater perennial with novelty and life
Dale Wasserman’s musical Don Quixote abridgment
aren’t likely to be won over by director Mark Lamos’s respectful Westport Country Playhouse revival
But admirers should enjoy the novelty afforded by the infusion of political and folk elements
Contemporary influence is seen in the modern mufti worn by the cast (before they don Fabian Fidel Aguilar’s period pieces)
and the uniformed bullyboys evoking Franco’s Guardia Civil
The dungeon’s famous staircase to Inquisition oblivion descends at an angle from upstage right like the jaws of a T
against designer Wilson Chin’s towering rear wall stained with sweat and blood
(Westport could easily run Kiss of the Spider Woman in rep on this set.) Instead of a show curtain
Chin offers a giant iron gate not unlike the one from Peter Brook’s legendary Marat/Sade
Edwards’s light plot captures the characters in warm specials accentuated with red and blue highlights
leaving creepily murky areas on the sidelines as if the entire event were getting illumination from Chin’s high windows above
and a subtle reminder that the phenomenon of officially-sanctioned terror remains very much with us
The load of Mitch Leigh and Joe Darion’s score is carried by only seven musicians
a choice that may or may not have been dictated by economy but proves inspired
the Broadway numbers land with a genuine Spanish flavor
castanets and tom-toms played up and brass muted
And with musical stagers Marcos Santana and Lamos incorporating all manner of rhythmic claps and flamenco taps and Spanish poses
The other headline here is lead Philip Hernandez
The only man who has sung both Valjean and Javert in Broadway’s Les Misérables (though not
at the same time) can be expected to deliver in the pipes department
but it’s his command of the role that’s notable
His Cervantes is genuinely world-weary and bitter rather than the usual expansive emcee
and his Quixote actually changes over time
taking on deeper levels of madness as the action progresses
The performance’s intelligence is matched by that of Gisela Adisa as Aldonza
who struggles with the high notes but not at all with taking the wretched scullery maid/prostitute out of the realm of cliché into full life
I’d point to the inadequate emphasis on the prologue
which sets up Cervantes’ effort to save his precious manuscript from burning by the other prisoners
They don’t establish what’s at stake in the presentation of the yarn—is the cast too preoccupied with its expanded chorus duties to act the thing with fullest conviction?—so there’s minimal menace or suspense
Lurking in the shadows as the cynical prisoner who plays Dr
Clay Singer strongly registers the nihilism Quixote has sworn to combat

A Chinese consortium plans to turn the vast ghost airport at Ciudad Real in barren central Spain into a global freight hub
It cost €1bn (£694m) to build and was on sale for a knockdown price of €40m
but now looks set to be sold for just €10,000
one of the most notorious emblems of Spain’s economic crash
A Chinese-led consortium has emerged as the only bidder for the deserted site 100 miles south of Madrid
for an apparent bargain price after no one met the much reduced valuation
Its facilities include a runway long enough to land an Airbus A380
along with a passenger terminal that could handle 10m travellers per year
It is also in pristine condition because it has barely been used
having opened to international flights in 2010 as the eurozone crisis raged
View image in fullscreenA partially complete walkway which was due to link Ciudad Real International Airport with an adjacent train station
Photograph: Oli Scarff/Getty ImagesAppropriately for such a vainglorious project
the La Mancha airport was previously named after the region’s most famous
But Tzaneen International, a Chinese company set up in March with just €4,000 in capital, believes it can succeed where others have failed. Its bid – the only offer – succeeded at a public auction
Its initial €10,000 outlay buys all the land and most of the buildings
Tzaneen says it also wants to acquire the terminal building and the car parks and is prepared to invest up to €100m in the project because “there are several Chinese companies that want to make the airport the European point of entry for cargo”
Ciudad Real has a population of just 75,000; many Spaniards would have trouble finding it on a map
View image in fullscreenThe mothballed control tower at the formerly known as Don Quixote airport
Photograph: Oli Scarff/Getty ImagesWhen Ciudad Real airport closed
the administrators said its backers had never carried out an investment analysis and “produced a financial plan that was not based on any studies of the market or of demand that would justify the anticipated traffic”
The airport failed to find a buyer when it was put up for auction at €100m last year
it was reduced to €80m and finally to €40m
Because the Chinese offer doesn’t come close to 70% of the asking price
rival bidders have 20 days in which to come forward with a better offer
Tzaneen International said the airport would be revived as a cargo hub for the Chinese market
“The purchase of the airport is the first step towards creating a hub in the Ciudad Real area specialising in the transport
storage and distribution of cargo from various geographical zones
with special attention to the Chinese market
as a bridgehead for manufactured products as well as semi-manufactured goods which could be finished in Castilla La-Mancha,” the company said
View image in fullscreenThe car parks were not part of the €10,000 deal
neither was the terminal building (unfinished)
Photograph: Oli Scarff/Getty ImagesThe town and the surrounding region need the investment
Unemployment in the Castilla La-Mancha region stands at 28.5% and at 22% in Ciudad Real
The town of 75,000 people was founded in the 14th century and is of little economic importance
although a high-speed rail connection has reduced the journey time to 50 minutes
putting it within range of a commute to the capital
the high-speed line does not have a station connecting to the airport
an oversight symbolised on the site by an incomplete walkway for rail passengers
The airport went into administration with debts of €529m and a judge ordered that an auction be held to pay these off
In an outcome typical of Spain’s financial crisis
Locals whose property was compulsorily purchased to allow the construction of the airport are claiming a further €106m

the town in Jaen is below other nearby provinces

this municipality has experienced a boom in property purchases thanks to its affordability
This has attracted both families and investors in search of opportunities
Jaén also has six other municipalities that are among the ten cheapest in the entire autonomous community
with an average price of 666 euros per square metre
This makes it possible to find four-bedroom flats in La Carolina for as little as 40,000 euros
There are also properties for sale for as little as 15,000 euros

Controversy erupts over Ruta del Sol sprint between Barbero and Modolo
Modolo bounces back with well-calculated win in Ruta del Sol
Modolo's lead-out train was flawless and his sprint perfectly timed
and this time Boudat was nowhere in sight as he confidently raised his arms in victory
it was Carlos Barbero (Movistar) just behind
with Nelson Soto (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) in third
Although a crash disrupted the peloton in the final 200m
overnight leader Wout Poels (Team Sky) took no risks in the bunch sprint and sailed across the line safely to keep the red jersey by two seconds over Luis Leon Sanchez (Astana) and Tim Wellens of Lotto Soudal
the peloton clearly enjoyed the slightly brisk temperatures and light breeze
making quick work of the 166.1km route from Mancha Real to Herrera
The four-man breakaway with Marco Minnaard (Wanty-Groupe Gobert)
Hector Saez (Euskadi-Murias) and Oscar Cabedo (Burgos-BH) never got much of a lead
thanks to the Team Sky train which shepherded race leader Poels along
Cuadros claimed the first mountain points on the Puerto de Carcabiey with 64km to go
moving up the classification behind teammate Luis Mas
Saez got the better of the Caja Rural rider on the next ascent
as the breakaway enjoyed a 2:20 lead 10km later
the Direct Energie and EF Education First-Drapac squads came to the fore in the interest of their sprinters Thomas Boudat and Sasha Modolo
Although Cuadros and Saez put in a panicked attack with 25km to go
the peloton steamrolled past them inside 20km to go
AG2R La Mondiale led over some gently rolling hills from 10km to go until Astana took over with 4km remaining
the pace was furious as the lead-out trains fought for position
but EF Education First-Drapac pushed past with 1.3km to go before a roundabout
Direct Energie made another push for Boudat
but Modolo had a prime position coming into the final bend
and this time made no mistakes before the finish line

As we pick up the action a little over midway through the stage
a four-man break has a lead of 2:25 over the peloton
Hector Saez (Euskadi-Murias) and Oscar Cabedo (Burgos-BH) forged clear in the opening kilometres
and the Team Sky-controlled peloton has been content to let them to it
The leading quartet went clear after 23 kilometres
and their advantage has never exceeded 2:40
Although there are a couple of climbs between here and the finish
the sprinters will expect another opportunity to contest the win at the finish in Herrera
The pace was high in those opening kilometres as attack after attack failed to gain any traction
though the action cooled once Minnaard and company broke away. Amaro Antunes (CCC-Sprandi) was a faller during those early kilometres
and the Portuguese rider has been forced to abandon the Ruta del Sol
The general classification picture is as follows today after Wout Poels' victory atop the Alto de las Allanadas on stage 2:
1 Wout Poels (Ned) Team Sky 8:59:43 2 Luis León Sanchez (Spa) Astana Pro Team 0:00:02 3 Tim Wellens (Bel) Lotto Soudal 4 Mikel Landa (Spa) Movistar Team 0:00:04 5 Jakob Fuglsang (Den) Astana Pro Team 6 Marc Soler (Spa) Movistar Team 0:00:17 7 Chris Froome (GBr) Team Sky 0:00:27 8 Mikel Bizkarra Etxegibel (Spa) Euskadi Basque Country-Murias 0:00:34 9 Amaro Antunes (Por) CCC Sprandi Polkowice 0:00:38 10 Jelle Vanendert (Bel) Lotto Soudal
Alvaro Cuadros (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) leads the break over the day's first categorised climb
Saez and Minnaard were second and third ahead of Cabedo
Hector Saez leads the break over the second of the day's climbs
the category 3 Puerto del Mojón
Chris Froome (Team Sky) spoke briefly at the start in Mancha Real and downplayed the idea that racing at the Ruta del Sol was a relief amid the legal wrangling over his salbutamol case. "It’s great to be racing
not about tension or relief or anything like that
It’s the start of my season," Froome said
Froome also took a strange swipe at press coverage of his adverse analytical finding for salbutamol. "It’s definitely been hyped up in the media
That seems a very disingenuous take from Froome
A four-time winner of the Tour de France returning a positive test while winning the Vuelta a Espana is clearly major news
The pace is beginning to rise slightly in the peloton
Hector Saez (Euskadi-Murias) and Oscar Cabedo (Burgos-BH) are the men up the road
The break's unity is beginning to fragment as the sprinters' teams begin to take a firmer interest in the pursuit and the peloton draws ever closer
The bunch closes to within a minute of the break
which is starting to fragment as they sense the end of their adventure
Cuadros and Saez have shed themselves of their two companions
and this duo has a lead of 30 seconds over the peloton
Direct Energie are among the teams leading the pursuit in support of Thomas Boudat
Minnaard and Cabedo have dropped back into the main peloton
where Education First-Drapac are putting their shoulder to the wheel on behalf of Sacha Modolo
Wout Poels sits comfortably amid a phalanx of Team Sky riders near the head of the peloton as Education First-Drapac and Direct Energie combine to chase down Alvaro Cuadros (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) and Hector Saez (Euskadi-Murias)
Cuadros and Saez still have 22 seconds in hand on the peloton
but they surely won't survive much longer at this rate
The adventure comes to an end for Cuadros and Saez as they are swept up by the peloton
The race is back together and the stage is set for a bunch sprint
Modolo and Boudat will be the favourites for stage honours today
Moreno Hofland and Tosh Van der Sande are on hand for Lotto Soudal
Andrea Pasqualon (Wanty) and Brenton Jones (Delko Marseille) will all hope to contend
AG2R La Mondiale set the tempo at the head of the race
with Naesen putting in a mammoth turn on the front on a long false flat
AG2R continue to pile on the pressure at the front of the race in support of Venturini
and there are some riders beginning to flag at the back
The sprinters' teams are moving their leaders into position
including Israel Cycling Academy on behalf of Kristian Sbaragli
that a delegation from Astana is keeping Luis Leon Sanchez and Jakob Fuglsang in position
It's an impressive show of force from AG2R La Mondiale at the front
as Naesen grinds is mammoth gear over in the wind
Sacha Modolo has plenty of Education First-Drapac riders around him as he moves up
The Italian will be desperate to make amends for his near miss on day one
Moreno Moser (Astana) hits the front of the bunch with Luis Leon Sanchez on his wheel
or is Luis Leon Sanchez hoping to snare a few seconds from Poels
but it doesn't look as though an Astana ambush is in the offing
Riders are being jettisoned off the back of the bunch
though all of the sprinters and GC contenders are still in situ
EF-Drapac take up the reins at the front of the bunch and sweep through the first of two roundabouts in the run-in
Direct Energie lead into the final left-hand turn..
Sacha Modolo opens his sprint from distance..
Sacha Modolo (Education First-Drapac) wins stage 3 of the Ruta del Sol
Carlos Barbero (Movistar) took second place on the stage
ahead of Neslon Soto (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA)
Oscar Gatto (Astana) placed 4th ahead of Moreno Hofland (Lotto Soudal)
He was perfectly tucked in second wheel as the sprint began
and he made sure to power all the way through the line before raising his arms in victory this time around
1 Sacha Modolo (Ita) EF Education First-Drapac p/b Cannondale 3:48:172 Carlos Barbero (Spa) Movistar Team 3 Nelson Andres Soto Martinez (Col) Caja Rural-Seguros RGA 4 Oscar Gatto (Ita) Astana Pro Team 5 Moreno Hofland (Ned) Lotto Soudal 6 Jon Aberasturi Izaga (Spa) Euskadi Basque Country-Murias 7 Eduard Michael Grosu (Rom) Nippo-Vini Fantini-Europa Ovini 8 Coen Vermeltfoort (Ned) Roompot-Nederlandse Loterij 9 Andrea Pasqualon (Ita) Wanty-Groupe Gobert 10 Colin Joyce (USA) Rally Cycling
There was a crash towards the front on that final corner
with an AG2R La Mondiale rider hitting the ground
though the bulk of the sprinters managed to pick their way through safely
Wout Poels (Team Sky) finished safely in the main peloton to retain the red jersey of race leader
3 seconds clear of Luis Leon Sanchez (Astana) and Tim Wellens (Lotto Soudal)

Sanchez and Wellens all picking up a second on Landa and Froome
as it seems the split was forced by that late crash
Steven Kruijswijk will moves into the top 10 as a result of Amaro Antunes' abandon

The word reaching us from Herrera is that Carlos Barbero lodged a protest with the commissaires
claiming that he had been impeded by Modolo the sprint
I have to say that I saw nothing wrong with Modolo's line in the finishing straight
though it seems Barbero's complaint may have been about the final bend
of which we did not have a very clear view
the commissaires have dismissed the complaint and the result stands: Sacha Modolo is confirmed as the stage winner
A full report and pictures from today's stage 3 of the Ruta del Sol are available here
1 Sacha Modolo (Ita) EF Education First-Drapac p/b Cannondale 3:48:17 2 Carlos Barbero (Spa) Movistar Team 3 Nelson Andres Soto Martinez (Col) Caja Rural-Seguros RGA 4 Oscar Gatto (Ita) Astana Pro Team 5 Moreno Hofland (Ned) Lotto Soudal 6 Jon Aberasturi Izaga (Spa) Euskadi Basque Country-Murias 7 Eduard Michael Grosu (Rom) Nippo-Vini Fantini-Europa Ovini 8 Coen Vermeltfoort (Ned) Roompot-Nederlandse Loterij 9 Andrea Pasqualon (Ita) Wanty-Groupe Gobert 10 Colin Joyce (USA) Rally Cycling
And confirmation of the general classification
with the time gaps amended by the commissaires:

At the Volta ao Algarve, meanwhile, Team Sky have placed four riders in the top 10 in the stage 3 time trial, with Geraint Thomas taking the win. A report will follow here
FC Barcelona continue their Copa del Rey journey on Thursday at 9.30pm CET with a trip to Bilbao
Here’s the lowdown on the team they call The Lions
The city of Bilbao is the tenth largest in Spain with a population of almost 350,000
although the ‘Greater Bilbao’ metropolitan area is home to getting on for a million people
Bilbao is a highly industrialised city and its most famous landmark is the Guggenheim Museum
Bilbao was one of the first cities in Spain to develop a football culture
and the Athletic Club was founded one year before FC Barcelona in 1898
the rivalry between Athletic and Barça was probably the most intense in the country
the traditional friendship between Basques and Catalans was reflected more and more on the football field as they were united against a ‘common enemy’ in the rising Real Madrid
one of just three clubs never to have been relegated out of the first division
And they are second in the all-time list for Spanish Cup victories (23) and fourth for La Liga titles (8)
although they have not won either since their double winning campaign in 1983/84
Arguably this is because the club continues to observe the tradition (it has never been an official policy) of only fielding players raised in the Basque football system
It is testimony to the quality of football in the region that Athletic have remained so competitive in the face of the ‘globalisation’ of football
The club’s old San Mamés stadium was affectionately known as the Cathedral
but it has now been replaced by a completely new facility on the exact same site
The changes were all made without the team ever having to stop playing at their famous ground and were completed in 2013
Although the club is widely known as ‘Athletic Bilbao’
its own supporters always insist on being called ‘Athletic Club’
This partly dates back to the club’s earliest years
when its greatest rivals were the now defunct Bilbao FC
Atlético Madrid was founded by Basque players living in the Spanish capital
which is why the teams wear the same red and white stripes
But although the Madrid-based team has since adopted a Spanish translation
the team from Bilbao still proudly maintains the English ‘Athletic’ name
Athletic employs a similar membership-based democratic structure to that of FC Barcelona and Real Madrid
something very rare in modern-day football
which comes from the fact that the local church from which the stadium takes its name (San Mamés) honours a saint who was thrown to the lions by the Romans
The club’s red-and-white stripes date back to 1909
when one of the players brought back a set of Southampton shirts from England
meetings between these two clubs are about as historic as things can get
the tradition between the two teams with the most titles in the competition has been more intense than ever
They have crossed paths on an extraordinary number of occasions
including no fewer than four finals this century
the 1-0 loss at San Mamés two years ago was the first time Athletic were the overall winners in a cup tie against Barça since 1960
But Barça certainly haven’t had it all their own way against the Basques in recent years
Barça have won four of the last ten meetings
Athletic have won three and there have been two draws
Last ten meetings21/08/21 (LIGA): Athletic 1-1 Barça 17/04/21 (COPA DEL REY): Athletic 0-4 Barça31/01/21 (LIGA): Barça 2-1 Athletic17/01/21 (SPANISH SUPER CUP): Barça 2-3 Athletic06/01/21 (LIGA): Athletic 2-3 Barça23/06/20 (LIGA): Barça 1-0 Athletic06/02/20 (COPA DEL REY): Athletic 1-0 Barça16/08/19 (LIGA): Athletic 1-0 Barça10/02/19 (LIGA): Athletic 0-0 Barça29/09/18 (LIGA): Barça 1-1 Athletic
Athletic got off to a reasonably good start in La Liga
although after a spell of eight consecutive games without a single win things have picked up a bit in the last month or so
where they beat lower league Atlético Mancha Real 2-0
That bye was due to their participation in the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia
where they came from behind to beat Atlético Madrid and earn a place in Sunday’s final
Most capped internationals: Iñigo Martínez (Spain
Top scorers 2021/22 (all competitions): Iñaki Williams (5)
Marcelino García Toral played for Sporting Gijón
and has also managed a wide variety of different teams
Villarreal and Valencia before accepting the job in Bilbao in January of 2021
In a total of 19 league meetings with Barça at these different clubs
although his sides did defeat the blaugrana in the 2019 Copa del Rey Final (Valencia) and the 2021 Spanish Super Cup Final (Athletic)

Tony award-winning Broadway composer and developer Mitch Leigh died of pneumonia and complications from a stroke in New York Sunday
according to his assistant in an Associated Press report Monday
Leigh was world famous for writing the score to the hit musical version of Spanish author's Miguel De Cervantes' "Don Quixote." However
the idealist was also known for his interest in community development
Over two decades ago Leigh purchased 900 acres in Jackson Township along the Route 195 corridor in hopes of constructing what he called America's only arts-sports-residential community that he named Jackson Twenty-One where only nice people need apply
Jackson Township Mayor Mike Reina said he's saddened by Leigh's death
He descibes the 86-year-old composer as a "complete gentleman"
according to Reina."He was very generous
to not only the arts but he was generous to the community and those who needed him," Reina said
Anonymous where he would make donations to fundraisers."
Reina also said that Leigh was close to realizing his dream because he was just months away from receiving approvals for the Jackson 21 development
"It's a mixed use community where there's shops
streets paved with cobblestones with no vehicles
you can walk through and shop and just go around to the out door amphitheater," Reina said calling it a great mix for Jackson Township
with some accusing Leigh's company of planning to sell off the land to developers who will turn Jackson into Lakewood-west
"We allowed the application to come in like we would any other and treated it without prejudice and it turned out to be something beautiful and once the welcome center is up and running
not only the naysayers but the people who couldn't wait and still can't wait for it to be built
can finally see what his intentions were," Reina explained
The Jackson 21 Welcome Center is still scheduled to open this Spring
Mayor Reina said he plans to help Leigh fulfill his dream of constructing the diverse
'green village' where only 'nice' people live
Any other details will have to wait according to Reina who's reserving additional comments about the project until he hears from member's of the Leigh Realty Company that manages the project
Leigh is survived by his wife Artist Abby Leigh and their two children
He also has a son Andy from a previous marriage
A memorial service was held for Leigh Monday afternoon in Manhattan
Broadway theater marquees will dim in his honor for one minute at 7:45 p.m

is up for auction: starting price €100m (£86m)
bearing in mind that it cost €1bn to build
is in mint condition as it has barely been used and boasts a runway long enough to land an Airbus 380
The catch is paying off the outstanding €529m debt
Creditors include a variety of savings banks (€233m) Air Nostrum (€2.6m) and Air Berlin (€1.8m)
Local residents whose property was compulsorily purchased to build the airport are claiming a further €106m
but not before it had handed out multimillion euro payoffs to its directors
The judge in charge of administering the bankrupt airport has ordered that it be auctioned in order to meet its debts
it will go to private auction with a €80m reserve price and after that
those running the auction will be the first to be paid
followed by the 71 airport workers who were made redundant
The airport is one of the most egregious examples of the excesses of Spain's building boom and the vainglory of the local political barons who
jealous of Bilbao's emblematic Guggenheim Museum
plundered the savings banks to build cultural centres
high-speed rail networks and airports without pausing to carry out a feasibility study
The administrators of the airport say that its proponents "never carried out an investment analysis" nor did they produce a realistic business model and "produced a financial plan that was not based on any studies of the market or of demand that would justify the anticipated traffic." Ciudad Real has a population of just 75,000 and many Spaniards would have trouble finding it on a map
latest figures from the national statistics office show that 2,408 Spanish companies filed for bankruptcy in the second quarter of this year
In the period January to June 5,069 bankruptcies were registered
Some 29.1% were businesses related to construction and 18.4% were in the energy or other industrial sectors
The number of bankrupted family businesses has fallen
The rumor mills are running full throttle as a lot of transfer news surfaces. The clock is ticking. The season is quickly approaching its business end and right afterward the summer transfer window kicks open. Most European clubs are ready with their plans for the summer and Real Madrid, too
There are a few problem areas in the squad that does need attention viz
These positions require immediate reinforcements and it’s interesting to look at some players from Real Madrid’s rival clubs who could end up being a perfect fit for Los Blancos’ squad
Here are the five players I’d love to have at Real Madrid from Rival Clubs
The first player on this list is from the Lions of the Basque Country
Athletic Club of Bilbao is the only other team alongside the big two of Spanish Football
that has never been relegated from the top flight
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Athletic Club was a bigger thorn for Real Madrid in the early days of Spanish Football than any other side
The two sides met numerous times in the Copa del Rey and every meeting continues to be fiery
Real Madrid had to face Athletic Club four times
and one win in the finals of the Spanish Supercup
Los Leones won the last one and knocked Real Madrid out of the Copa del Rey
as the fixture is commonly known is always a mouthwatering one
The rivalry also symbolizes the socio-political struggles of the Basque regions for Independence
The player I am picking from among the lions is a young talent
Nico Williams is a great up-and-coming right-winger and could be a great fit for Real Madrid
He has made a habit of impacting big games and that is the sort of mentality Real Madrid is always after
Real Madrid needs reinforcements on the right and is close to signing their target-man Kylian Mbappe
As such a quality backup like Nico Williams could be the player to go after for Real Madrid
the 19-year-old is making a habit of influencing big games
He scored two in the Copa del Rey Round of 32 game against Atletico Mancha Real and then scored a worldie to win the semifinals of the Supercup against Atletico Madrid
He also assisted the opener for Iker Muniain in the Copa del Rey Round of 16 game against FC Barcelona
He has also looked promising in his appearances off the bench in LaLiga
He is surely the one Athletic Club player whose transfer to Real Madrid would make the most sense

the fiercest and most well-known rivalry in club football
A faceoff between these two clubs is not just a game of football
there are bragging rights at stake and it is a fixture colored with socio-political influences
It is only natural that there are so many memorable moments from El Clasicos
Real Madrid has faced Barcelona twice and got the better of the Catalans both times by narrow margins
The upcoming fixture in March promises to be an exciting one after the resurgence of the Catalan side under the new manager
He is the one player in Barcelona’s squad who could be of great use to Madrid
While the first two picks were from the local rivals
the top three are from Real Madrid’s continental rivals
Real Madrid’s biggest European rivals have been the Bavarians
Real Madrid’s ‘black beast’ or La Bestia Negra was the popular name dubbed for FC Bayern Munich in Spain
Bayern and Real Madrid have been fierce opponents from as early as the 70s
There have been some high-scoring games and some that turned ugly
One infamous incident is that of Real Madrid legend Juanito stamping on Lothar Matthaus leading to a five-year ban
Real Madrid and FC Bayern have locked horns in the Champions League that ended up being high scoring ties over the two legs
The player I am picking from the Bavarian squad is their speedy right-winger Kingsley Coman
The right-wing is an evident problem area in Real Madrid’s squad and having someone as skillful as Coman would easily solve all problems for Real Madrid
is creative and he can also finish scoring chances
This season he has 10 goal involvements that include six goals and four assists in all competitions for the German giants
Although there are other players like Robert Lewandowski and Leon Goretzka who were linked to Real Madrid in the past
I think Coman is the one player I’d love most to have in the Spanish Capital
The changes at center-forward and midfield can wait for another season but reinforcements on the right are an immediate necessity
Coman is one of the best right-wingers in world football in recent times and has an elite mentality
The next pick is from a club that has come up as a new age rival to Real Madrid
While there have been a few fierce face-offs in the Champions League including a Round of 16 tie this very season
the real differences between the two clubs are off the field
The pursuit of Kylian Mbappe and PSG’s unprofessional ignorance to a 200 million euros bid surely spices things up
Considered one of the best right-backs of the present generation
He has some seriously high pace and loves to venture forward as a modern-day full-back should
He is versatile and can play as a wing-back or a wide midfielder
He is also known for finishing off scoring chances
He already has three goals and three assists in Ligue 1 this season and has also scored two for his national side
his transfer back to Real Madrid would solve the problem at right-back instantly
being a former Real Madrid player who is well versed with the values of the club
he would be the perfect heir to Dani Carvajal who is nearing his thirties and would be feeling the need for a rotational partner
Even without taking the fatigue or injury issues into account
having a quality backup option is always the smarter way out
In lists revolving around transfer targets for Real Madrid, there can only be one player sitting atop in the first position and that is Kylian Mbappe. As I explained in the previous slide, Mbappe has been a prime catalyst in fueling the rivalry between Real Madrid and PSG in recent times. And, he could very well fuel it further by refusing blank-cheque offers from the French club.
There are all sorts of rumors flooding the Real Madrid-Kylian Mbappe story
Some say there has always been a verbal agreement
some say a pre-agreement has already been made
One common thing has been the optimism about Kylian Mbappe joining Real Madrid at the end of the season in a free transfer
The way he has been refusing alluring contract extensions and learning Spanish are encouraging signs
Kylian Mbappe is the closest thing to a perfect forward at this point in time in World Football
He is good on either wing and can handle that center-forward position as well
He already has 19 goals and 14 assists in 32 appearances in all competitions for PSG this season
While most of his appearances have been in the center-forward position
he has performed relatively better on the left-wing for PSG
3 Real Madrid players who must step up with Kroos out vs
Write for us!
he is that one player from a rival club I’d love the most to join Real Madrid as soon as possible
